Report: GTA 6 First “Physical” Copy Out in the Wild
When Grand Theft Auto 6 was announced, gamers around the world were shocked to learn that the highly anticipated game wouldn’t have a disc version.
While the game won’t be available on disc, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a physical version sold in stores.
Today, the first physical copy of the game seems to be out and in the hands of someone willing to share info about it.
GTA 6’s Physical Case Mentions “Online Functionality Supported”
Over on the GTAunmoderated Subreddit, a user by the name of IseeIceTea posted what he says is a physical copy of GTA 6. As we already know, the “physical” version includes a disc, but it houses a code that players can then use to download the game on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store.
But that hasn’t stopped the user from uploading the front and back of the disc case, which also mentions “online functionality supported,” which could mean a lot of things, or perhaps it’s referring to the next iteration of GTA Online, which is said to be something Rockstar won’t be talking about anytime soon.
As of press time, the images on the sub have been deleted, with the user also deleting their comments. Before the user did so, they admitted that they worked at retail, which might be the reason for the deletion, as they don’t want to get into hot water with Rockstar and their employer.
There is a possibility that this could be a well-made fake; German mega retailer MediaMarkt also shared recently on the company’s official Instagram a GTA 6 poster that’s included in the physical edition, which features the cover art on one side and Lucia on the other. It’s unclear whether this is an official item made by Rockstar or something MediaMarkt made themselves, and we’ve reached out to Rockstar Games for a comment on this.
While the IG story has since expired, you can check out what the poster looks like via iGrandTheftAuto:
Physical or not, gamers will need to clear up a ton of disk space on their respective console, given Rockstar has confirmed the game’s file size and it’s a huge one.
GTA 6 will be released on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In related news, there are over 30 new screenshots for the game released by Rockstar recently.
