Anthem PTS Comes to an End, BioWare Tells People to Uninstall PTS Client

Anthem-PTS-Closed-Could-an-Update-Be-on-the-Way

The private test server (PTS) for PC Anthem players to play an early build of the game’s upcoming Cataclysm event has been closed. The server closed yesterday, preventing those PC players who were providing feedback on the test build of the Cataclysm from logging in. However, the closure of this server has made some people think that BioWare is going to release the Cataclysm for the rest of Anthem players sometime soon.

The Anthem PTS closed on July 29 2019 at 2pm CDT. Anyone who continued playing while the server was being taken down was kicked by 3pm CDT on the same day. BioWare Global Community Lead Andrew Johnson, posting under the username “AnthemAJ,”advised all players that it’s now safe to uninstall the Anthem PTS from their Origin client, indicating that the Anthem PTS won’t be used again in the near future. Johnson also expressed the gratitude of the entire team at both EA and BioWare for those who played the server while it was live, and for the feedback they have been providing over the last several weeks.

Johnson ended their post by telling players that they hope to see them in the Cataclysm when it launches for the full game. However, no date for when the event will release for the core game was given, leading some players to believe that the Cataclysm could come in an update soon.

Johnson, has pointed out on both Twitter and Reddit that today’s server downtime for Anthem has nothing to do with the Cataclysm going live. Many players were excited when they heard that the game would be seeing some maintenance today, but no update has been released. This downtime was for scheduled maintenance only, though the official Anthem Twitter account has said that the community will be updated on what’s happening once this server maintenance is complete.

The Cataclysm is a sore spot for many Anthem players, and has caused a lot people to leave the game entirely. The Cataclysm will be an eight week timed event, with two of these weeks being pre-Cataclysm content that leads up to the event itself. The Cataclysm was meant to be released in April, but with so many bugs and glitches in the game, as well as the constant complaints of no real endgame, BioWare has been taking their time in order to develop an event that players will find satisfying.

Hopefully the feedback from real players on the Anthem PTS has improved the Cataclysm to the point where all players will enjoy it when it launches.

Odd. I though the idea was to use the PTS to test the cataclysm and everything that came after it.

Just uninstall this flop of the generation altogether lol. I can’t explain in words how happy I am that this game failed on so many levels. Even EA’s precious garbage Frostbite engine was a hindrance in itself when this game was being made.
