Battlefield 5 Gets Surprise Mass Effect N7 Patch to Celebrate Launch of Legendary Edition

battlefield 5 n7 patch

While DICE has stopped adding new maps, weapons and other stuff in Battlefield 5, there’s a surprise coming in today for the game’s players, and that’s a new Mass Effect-themed patch! This, of course, is to mark the launch of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which launched last week.

Players will be able to get the patch just by logging in (thanks, DANNYonPC!), and yep, the Battlefield 5 Mass Effect N7 patch looks like the featured image above.

For those curious regarding “N7” and what it means in the Mass Effect universe, here’s what the Mass Effect Wiki had to say:

N7 is a vocational code in the Systems Alliance military. The “N” designates special forces and the “7” refers to the highest level of proficiency. It applies to Alliance personnel who have graduated from the Interplanetary Combatives Training (ICT) program.

The Battlefield franchise, just like the Mass Effect license, is, of course, owned by EA that publishes both games. Don’t you just love when co-marketing and synergy just happens like this (don’t answer that).

In other Battlefield news, this year’s still-untitled Battlefield game will be revealed next month, and will feature “game-changing destruction” according to EA.
