Battlefield 6 Community Suffers Meltdown Due to Season 1 Skins

Battlefield 6 Update November 19

Yesterday, publisher Electronic Arts (EA) released our first look at Battlefield 6’s Season 1, which launches on October 28. While we got our first look at the upcoming season’s content, content creators had already gotten their hands on it.

It seems not only the maps and weapons from Season 1 were available, but even the Battle Pass and the accompanying skins players can earn from it.

For the most part, the soldier skins available are OK, but one has caused a stir among the community.

Battlefield 6 Season 1 Soldier Skins Causes the Community to Lose Their Minds

The soldier skins players can earn in Season 1 are the following:

For the most part, the community is OK with the skins above. However, there is one skin that surfaced that caused quite an uproar.

This one showed a soldier with bright blue hues on their uniform, which irked a LOT of Battlefield gamers. Check it  out for yourself:

The Reddit thread about this topic was locked after it garnered over 21K upvotes, over 4,000 comments, and 12 awards. Simply put: this is something the Battlefield community feels very passionate about.

What’s further aggraviating the issue is the comments made by devs before launch that cosmetics for the game will be “grounded” and “authentic to the franchise.” Something neon blue isn’t really keeping in line with the franchise, but so far, the developers nor EA have said anything about it.

One of the most upvoted comments states, “Why is it so much to ask for just regular military uniforms? I would open my wallet if I could play with a legit US Army kit or as a Marine. Nobody is using this shit.”

Most are assuming that this skin is being pushed by some corporate person at EA instead of an actual developer, but that doesn’t make it easier to take. While one can argue that this is just one skin with a neon blue coloring, most are worried that this is the start of a very slippery slope. If this proves popular, then EA will push for a lot more colorful and less realistic designs.

As one commenter mentioned, “it never began with Nicki Minaj. It started with normal troop outfits, then colourful, and then the bs we see today. This is the beginning of a very slippery slope.”

Personally, I am OK with the skin, though it looks ugly as hell. My main concern is, if everyone wore the same skins and the uniformity is gone, wouldn’t that affect gameplay given it’d be harder to differentiate friendlies from enemies — an issue I had with Call of Duty because of all the goddamn skins.

This isn’t the only negative news about the game that surfaced this week. Players were surprised when DICE killed off XO farming rooms a few days ago by limiting XP.

There is some good news, though, as Season 1 is set to launch on October 28 with new maps, weapons, and more. It’s also the rumored drop date for the game’s Battle Royale mode.

Will EA remove the skin or redesign it to avoid the backlash? We certainly hope so.
