Battlefield 6 Open Beta Server Queues Implemented to “Protect” Player Experience

battlefield 6 beta queue

If you’re trying to log in to the Battlefield 6 open beta, you might be greeted with a message that you’re queued up to connect, and this is to ensure the servers don’t break.

DICE announced they are doing this to “protect” the player experience, though that means you’ll have to wait a while before you can connect to the game.

Battlefield 6 Beta Sees Players Line Up for Long Server Queues That Will Have You Wait a While

While I managed to play a few rounds of the BF6 beta, I had to quit to the main menu (which was bugged), so I had to close the app on PS5. Booting it again, saw myself placed in a queue with over 270,000 people ahead of me.

DICE has intentionally done this to ensure the servers don’t overload. The studio announced:

Since this is Battlefield’s biggest Open Beta ever, we’re putting in the work to ensure that players have the best possible experience and servers remain stable.”

To support this, we will use queues to protect the player experience but expect this impact to be minimal.

You may encounter this during high peak moments, such as the start of servers going live. The team is working constantly to reduce any queue that takes place.

Thank you for your continued excitement and patience.

DICE has also announced they are working to increase server capacity to reduce queue time. “The team is now working on a substantial increase in server capacity, which will reduce your time in the queue. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to get as many of you into the game as soon as possible,” per the studio’s latest announcement.

It’s been a few minutes now and I’m now placed 144,000 in line. Needless to say, if you plan to play the Battlefield 6 beta today, make sure you’ve stocked up on patience, as you’ll need it. At least the servers haven’t gone down, right? Though that could still happen once we reach the weekend and literally everyone (even without early access) can play it. The real test will be this coming weekend, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see the servers give out.

In other Battlefield 6 news, the developers have confirmed that AI bots will be in the game, but it will be to fill out matches.

For those on PC, we’ve published a handy guide on enabling Secure Boot, which is mandated by DICE in order to load the game.

Let’s not pretend we didn’t see this coming…

This is just the beta and with it being open on weekends we can expect millions of players trying the game, even if they aren’t interested in buying it.

The real test will come at launch, where this series typically crashes and burns the first few launch days. Expect servers to be down, long queues to happen and get only a couple hours of playtime in over the launch weekend ‘to protect your experience’.
