Despite Negative Feedback About It From BF2042, Battlefield 6 Will Still Feature AI Bots
If there’s one thing I personally didn’t like about Battlefield 2042, it was the bots that would populate every match. Sure, it’s a tall order to fill out every 128-player matches, but even so, it’s jarring to see bots in battles, and while they are competent enough for the most part, it doesn’t feel as good getting kills against bots.
Unfortunately, bots will be part of Battlefield 6. This was confirmed by DICE themselves recently, though they shouldn’t be in every match.
Battlefield 6 Will Feature Bots But We’re Not Expecting Them to Be as Prevalent as in BF2042
Bots in Battlefield 6 have been confirmed by DICE in an interview with Taiwanese gaming site GNN.Game. In the chat, Development Director Anna Narrevik, Senior Technical Artist Makoto Tanaka, and Gameplay Designer Jac Carlsson were all in attendance, and was asked:
Q: Will there be AI battles? When the game has been out for a long time, new players may have a high barrier to entry without AI battles.
Narrevik answered, “The way the game uses AI is that when the server is not full, AI will be added to fill it.”
Carlsson continued, “I think Portal is a custom game mode that should serve this purpose and allow newcomers to train and improve their abilities,” which is perfectly fine and understandable.
Given how popular Battlefield 6 is now, I’m hoping we won’t need bots to fill matches given there will always be a ton of people playing worldwide. If we do run across bots, let’s hope DICE makes it more obvious that we are fighting against AI and not actual human players.
Thankfully, we don’t have to wait until the game’s October 10 launch to test this out, as the early access beta will kick off tomorrow! If you still need a code, EA is giving some out today, so it’s worth a shot.\
For those on PC, we’ve published a guide on enabling Secure Boot on PC, which should prove handy for those running into issues.
Expect a ton of Battlefield 6 coverage here on MP1st, especially once the beta starts tomorrow.
