In case you missed the news, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of Ubisoft’s biggest launches for an Assassin’s Creed game, only trailing behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for the time being when it comes to how many players have played it. Well, the news of the game’s success isn’t sitting too well with some folks online. More notably, those who have been deemed as grifters by the masses, who try to push negativity for the sake of engagement farming.

Usually, studios would ignore these accounts, but Ubisoft, on the other hand, and more specifically, the Assassin’s Creed Shadow’s social handler, has decided to fight back.

Ubisoft’s Social Takes the Fight to Grifters and Harrassers

Over the past year, there’s been a lot of controversy surrounding Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Whether you’ve been keeping up with it or just don’t care, there’s no denying that Ubisoft and the game have had a target on their backs since day one, with a particular group of accounts actively attacking and blowing some things out of proportion. Most probably have no idea who these accounts are, nor care, but for those that do, you’re probably familiar with the term “grifter,” as they’ve shown little care in what they actually post. It could be completely wrong and taken out of context, but as long as it farms the engagement they want, they care little for what else may come from it.

As of late, things haven’t been going much of their way, with many games they claimed were “woke” managing to be massive commercial hits. Well, it seems that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is joining the ranks of games that they thought would be flops but ended up being hits. The game has done well in rating on all fronts, with critics and fans praising it. Though Ubisoft has yet to release any sales data, we do know that over two million players have already played the game since its release last Thursday, making it one of the biggest launches for the studio.

As you’d expect, multiple grifter accounts haven’t taken this news too well, shifting up their strategy to try and knock the game any way they can. The social media handler behind Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed account on X isn’t having any of this and has decided to fight back. How? By simply stating facts against speculative claims.

Tesla’s CEO and X owner, Elon Musk, even decided to jump in on the conversation about Ubisoft paying money to a streamer for advertising their game. The response from Ubisoft? A deep cut into Elon Musk’s previous claims that he legitimately leveled up in Path of Exile 2, only to later confirm the rumors that he was paying someone to play for him.

They closed off their response with this:

Currently, both main replies have outperformed the original comments, which is more impressive considering that Elon Musk has hundreds of millions of followers compared to Assassin’s Creed’s paltry five million (in comparison).

The response from the X postings seem to be generally favorable towards Ubisoft, with many agreeing that it’s about time a publisher fights back, rather than remain silence and let things get more out of hand than they should.

Both sides are pathetic to different degrees. The fact people like you are so desperate for it to do well is just as lame as being desperate for it to fail.

Elon Musk is a moron, sure, but why exactly is Grummz a “grifter”? This article is not only extremely biased but also a manipulation as it doesn’t even include actual context. The original tweet from Grummz was calling out a streamer Hasan’s tweet which he himself marked as sponsored #AD.

Instead of reporting facts, this article utilizes baseless namecalling and cheers for a marketing account “owning the chuds” because it received more likes… Yes, Ubisoft tweet to Musk was funny and on point, but it didn’t address the original claims and so doesn’t this article.

To be hoest I’m really surprised and disappointed mp1st is resorting to this kind of narrative and manipulations. I’ll move to other gaming news sites.

yes the guy who built electric cars, rockets, & brain implant chips is a “moron’. Wokism is akin to Nazism.

He never got “burned” by the Assassin’s Creed team. In fact, they burned themselves ten times harder than Musk did. When did MP1st start defending terrorist sympathizers(Hasan)? Another site that has gone from journalism to activism.
