It looks like EA is pushing for the next Battlefield game to be more than just your traditional entry in the franchise with more content, if the publisher’s recent statements are anything to go by,

Speaking during the publisher’s quarterly earnings call, EA boss Andrew Wilson states that the next Battlefield game (currently untitled) will be a “reimagination of a truly connected ecosystem.”
No further details about it has been shared, as one might expect given EA hasn’t even formally announced what’s next for the Battlefield franchise outside of a new internal management group handling it.
Wilson’s statements are right in line with what Wilson shared back in May, where the CEO mentioned how they are not just building a new Battlefield game but a platform to drive live services to come. Is this something the fan base wants? I can’t say for sure. If I had to hazard a guess, perhaps Battlefield Portal will play a bigger role in the game in the franchise and EA is banking on that.
Of course, Battlefield and live services jargon is nothing new. EA tried it with Battlefield V, and again with Battlefield 2042. While the latter has bounced back from being a disappointment at launch, it’s still not up to par with previous entries in the franchise. One can also argue that the live services aspect of the game was the main thing that pulled it down.
Once we know more about the Battlefield franchise’s future titles, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

2142 is a completely different game from 2042. Look it up. 2142 came out after bf2 and before 1943 remake. 2142 was famous for the titan mode ( those who had actually played it) which brought us the carrier mode in bf4.

Well if the live service rumors are true then I will sure as hell not buy the next Battlefield game either.
Yeah it’s really sad. They know exactly what we want. But what we want doesn’t generate enough share holder interest because old ways, classic, back to basics, return to roots, none of these are buzzwords that get the wall street monkeys attention. So they’ll never make another actual battlefield game. Just marketing stunts is all we can look forward to from DICE it seems these days.
You would think PLAYABLE would be the most important thing, but half the time V and 2042 barely even function like new games. They literally feel like unoptimized community projects if the community were buzzword obsessed idiots.

While initially it was a HUGE dumpster fire, I think 2042 has gotten way better. Though, it will be the last BF title I ever pre-buy. I did so off the strength of BF4 and I remember the disappointment that was at launch, figured they’d learned their lesson…instead they went with “Hold my beer”
Battlefield is dead. 1 was the last pretty good one. V was just okay but really screwed up a lot of places for literally no reason at all. I have zero hope EA will ever put out something playable again besides the Jedi games. Haven’t played the new one but Falling Over was okay.
Thought 4 was awesome. Loved the destructibility, though having more destroyable would have been great. It started bad though, 2042 has gotten much better but still have issues with them setting up every map like it COD, they deliberately made most spots indefensible, cause it takes teamwork them to overrun them and they want Rambo COD play vs real squad play.
Seriously, EA, Dice used to make fun games. Stop using them for your BS marketing stunts. I just want a battlefield. I don’t want some SJW, totally implausible, ridiculous crap like V and 2042. Give me correct names on vehicles. Give me at least a guise of historical accuracy mixed with gameplay balance if you go with an older conflict. And please please please just let them make something PLAYABLE. If you want to make a stupid shareholder impressing tech demo, first off make something that works, but secondly, leave DICE and Battlefield out of it. Take NFS, you’ve already shown you don’t intend to fix that series.
Stop “reimagining” shit. Remastered BF4 with new maps, new guns, new attachments, new camos. That’s all we want.

Same junk live service, same lack of quality control, same lack of features, all expressed using new buzzwords. Battlefield is dead. EA have killed Medal of Honour and Bad Company for Battlefield and they have now killed the game too. Not buying what ever this Battlefield turns out to be!
