PS4 Update 7.01 Is Out and It Brings More of What You Expect

PS4 Update 10.00

Sony has released PS4 update 7.01, and given that it’s an unannounced firmware update, players should already know what’s in this. Clocking in at just 400MB, the main “patch notes” for PS4 update 7.01 is below. Note that at the time of writing, PS4 update 7.01 is optional as we were able to sign into PSN without requiring the update.

This system software update improves system performance.

Yep, this is just for stability and nothing more, which is to be expected. For those who want to download it via USB and install it, you can do so here.

In other PlayStation news, Sony rounded out the year with a few announcements in yesterday’s State of Play stream. Chief among the announcements is the Resident Evil 3 Remake release date, and how it’ll include a free multiplayer mode in Resident Evil Resistance.

Given how the PS5 is set for release next year, we’re most likely not going to get anything super big when it comes to new PS4 console features via firmware updates. I’d love to be proven wrong though.
