PUBG PS4 Version Discussed by CH Kim, Says Sony Is “Very Strict About Quality”

With both PC and Xbox One players now enjoying PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it’s understandable if PS4 players are feeling a bit left out. Even with a host of Sony exclusives ready to entertain, there’s still a PUBG-sized elephant in the room.

In an interview with Inven Global, PUBG Corp. CEO CH Kim discussed the PUBG PS4 version, which definitely seems to still be on the cards. Kim stated that the final goal would be “to launch the title on every platform.”

One problem that the PS4 platform presents, is that there’s no Early Access or Steam Preview equivalent. Kim says that Sony is “very strict about [quality].”

Inven: Many players also wonder when the PS version will be launched.

CH Kim: As it’s going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we’d like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now. If we have the opportunity, the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform.

Early Access on Steam and Game Preview on Xbox One are like pre-release, so they don’t have a restriction on quality. However, PS is very strict about this. There were cases where a game took 6 months more to launch even when it was already completed. We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first.

So it sounds like Kim is hoping to make a PUBG PS4 version. I guess it all comes down to the deal with Microsoft, and getting the game’s quality good enough for Sony.

In other PUBG news, the Xbox One “Game Preview” version entered the UK sales charts at #4, Minkonet is providing the tech behind the new 3D replay and killcam features, and a map selection option is coming to the game at some point after launch.
