In case you missed it, one of the biggest reveals at this year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live was the announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, which is set to be released on consoles and PC next month, free for people who already own the game.

While CD Projekt RED has mentioned some of the new features that gamers can expect once this update is rolled out, more information about its performance has come to light, and it should make a lot of gamers happy.

Not only that, but the studio also revealed some of the confirmed mods that will be available for consoles too.

Speaking during a RED developer stream, developers shared that Performance Mode can run unlocked and reach 90 frames-per-second (fps) on the PS5 Pro. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is also supported. The developers also confirmed that the PS5 Pro will not be getting an entirely different ray-tracing feature set, as it’ll essentially run the same ray-tracing features as the base PS5 but at a higher frame rate.

Another thing console owners can look forward to is The Witcher 3 mods. Promised ages ago, CD Projekt RED reaffirmed a few months ago that it’s still in development for consoles. This is another feature we’re expecting to arrive later next month, and during one RED stream, the developers gave a preliminary list of mods confirmed to be available on consoles.

What was once a PC-only feature, players will be able to experience mods in The Witcher 3, and here are the confirmed ones that will be available once the Remastered update hits (via Fandomwire):

  • Boat Races
  • Glowing Witcher Eyes
  • Gwent Mods
  • Hoods
  • New Hairstyles
  • Unlimited Inventory Capacity

Note that in order to integrate mods in The Witcher 3, players will need to register an account at mod.io and pair that with their CD Projekt RED account. Also, do NOT expect every mod available on PC to be available on consoles, as these will have stricter guidelines.

The inventory capacity being unlimited isn’t exactly a mod once the Remastered patch goes live, as it’ll now be part of the accessibility options. Other quality-of-life features being added to accessibility include: no item durability. no item weight and auto-loot enemies.

In related news, CD Projekt RED released a game update on the same day the Remastered upgrade was announced, and it turned the base game to the Complete Edition on all platforms, which means everyone will be able to play the Blood and Wine, Hearts of Stone DLCs for free.

As for the Witcher franchise, the fourth entry, which features Ciri as the protagonist, is now targeting a 2028 release.
