Ubisoft: Assassin’s Creed Brand to See New Content Every Year; 80% of Investments Targeted at AAA Games

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Update 5.12

With Ubisoft announcing that the Assassin’s Creed franchise is poised to be a live service game with “Assassin’s Creed Infinity,” it looks like franchise fans will be able to play a new Assasssin’s Creed experience every year.

In Ubisoft;s quarterly earnings call, Ubisoft commented that they are looking to push out content for the Assassin’s Creed branch every year, though this doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be a new game. This could be in the form of post-launch DLC or something similar.

In the same call, Ubisoft mentioned that for investments, the publisher is targeting 80% of current investments at AAA ($60) premium titles. This applies to existing franchises like Assassin’s Creed, and even to new IP and entertainment brand the publisher is handling such as Avatar, and Star Wars. In addition to that, 20% of current investments are for expanding brands into the free-to-play space (PC, mobile, consoles), such as the recently announced XDefiant.

This is good news as a whole, right? Assassin’s Creed fans will be able to experience more of the franchise yearly, while Ubisoft is pouring the majority of its resources into AAA games, rather than going all in the F2P train.
