Player AC related fixes

  • Fixed an issue that occurs when equipping a chargeable shoulder mounted weapon and pressing the shift control button while being staggered, resulting in any attack following the initial stagger to not incur a heavy stagger state on the player.
  • During online play, fixed an issue where players releasing the guard button right before becoming staggered would cause subsequent attacks to not result in a heavy stagger state.
  • Fixed an issue where hits would sometimes not register when attacking enemies using Pulse Armor/Terminal Armor with a melee weapon
  • Fixed an issue that caused melee attacks to not connect with enemies due to interactions with walls and terrain.
  • Fixed an issue that caused player AC to continuously float upwards after recovering from falling out of the map area

Online match related Fixes

  • In Ranked Matches, the change to rating for S-Rank matches has been adjusted.
*Specifically, the number of matches required for the rating value to even-out has been increased.
This is to avoid the the player being repeatedly demoted/promoted shortly after reaching S-Rank.
  • Fixed an issue that, under certain circumstances, players not subject to rank resets would be unable to progress past the rank-up results phase

System related fixes

  • Fixed issue that caused game to crash after customizing AC via the ASSEMBLY menu.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes occurred after applying WEATHERING via the PAINT menu, resulting in graphical abnormalities as well as game crashes.

Steam version related fixes

  • Fixed an issue where in-game movies would not play if the PC’s sound device was disabled.
  • Fixed an issue where pressing Alt+Enter to change the screen mode would result in SYSTEM Menu>Graphics Settings not being selectable.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the key icons shown within “input device settings>key settings” to not display correctly for certain languages.

Other

  • Other bug fixes and improvements

In terms of what’s in the patch, there is no new content included though there is balance changes and a balance adjustments per the Armored Core 6 producer.

Some of the key things that the community noticed that got changed:

  • Melee specialization massively increased (second best is now at 139 instead of 117)
  • Lammergeier legs got their stability reduced from 1051 to 980, and they
  • The Ocellus FCS got a big nerf from 90 to 81 close-range specialization
  • Long-range FCS got their mid-range specialization buffed, one of them has 85 now which is the highest in the gameEnergy specialization of some generators has changed, the VE-20A has 120 now
  • Etsujin got its damage/impact/acc. impact reduced from 51-48-22 to 48-44-20,
  • Chang-Chen got its recoil reduced from 6 to 5, but both it and the Ludlow are still completely unmanageable when dual wielded, even on Wrecker arms. via y ASNUs27

While Armored Core 6 performed better than expectations according to FromSoftware, there is no announced DLC for the game.

Once the official patch notes are out, we’ll update the article with the info.

XDefiant Season 2 Shoots Out September 25, New Faction, Weapons, Maps Revealed

For those looking to jump into XDefiant, or those who are still playing the game, Season 2 is right around the corner, as it’s set to kick off this September 25! Included in the second season of the free-to-play shooter is a new faction in the Highwaymen, new weapons, maps and more.

New Faction: The Highwaymen

Based on: Far Cry

Passive – Revved – Increases fire and reload rate for consecutive kills

Abilities:

  • M79 Grenade Launcher – The M79 is as straightforward as it is devastating; simply point it at your target, whether that’s an enemy or their ability, and blow it up. Two shots before it goes into cooldown.
  • Scrap Turret – Mounted machine gun provides 360-degree coverage from wherever you place it.

Ultra: Saw Launcher – Blasts ricocheting buzzsaws to effectively dominate any close-quarters space

New Weapons:

  • PP19 SMG – Stands apart from other SMGs in the game by focusing on damage and accuracy over movement speed and rate of fire, with the highest headshot-damage multiplier in the group. It boasts a large magazine, increased range, and a more consistent recoil pattern.
  • L86 LSW – Designed to allow runners to run, aim, and shoot faster, functioning almost as a middle ground between the AR and LMG classes. To balance out its boosted speed, the L86 deals less damage and carries fewer ammo than other LMGs it has the fastest time to kill in 30-45 meters.
  • SPAS-12 – A new semi-automatic shotgun, a combination of the AA-12 and the M8-70. It has the capability to one-shot kill, but can quickly finish the job with a second shot if the first one wasn’t enough

New Maps:

  • Waterfront (Available at S2 launch) – Inspired by the post-apocalyptic Hope County, Montana in Far Cry: New Dawn. Waterfront is big, holding both a skate park and music stage area, and favors long- to medium-range playstyles (sorry, SMGs).
  • Signal (Available In-Season)
  • Air & Space ( (Available In-Season))

New Game Mode: Bomb

Coming later in Season 2, Bomb is a new arena-style mode where the attacking team picks up a bomb, plants it in one of two designated locations, and attempts to ensure its detonation. Meanwhile, the defending team attempts to defuse it – or prevent the bomb from being planted in the first place. Teams switch sides every round, and the first team to win six rounds wins the match. Bomb will start in casual playlists, allowing the developers to gather community feedback and refine gameplay before it hits Ranked.

Bomb also switches up some aspects of gameplay, designed to ensure teammates are working together to form the best strategy to win the game instead of relying on faction abilities or camping. Once your Ultra meter is full, you can’t switch to another faction to use its Ultra ability; if you try, your meter will be reset. Stick with your pick and activate that Ultra right when your team needs it the most.

Oh, and the other thing about Bomb? No respawns. You only get one life per round, so tread carefully and don’t go barreling right into the path of a Cleaners’ Incendiary Drone.

Private Matches

Private matches are coming to XDefiant later in Season 2, allowing you to create custom games for you and your friends. You’ll be able to select the map, mode (both Ranked and Unranked iterations), and how many players you want in your lobby. In private matches, you can roll with the standard 6v6 (or 4v4 in Ranked) party size, or customize to 1v1, 2v2, or trios.

You can watch the new faction in action in the latest XDebrief episode:

Aside from this, there’s also a new device incoming and a new limited-time mode out for Season 2. Once we know more about those, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Year 1 roadmap which got an update, right here.

Rumor: Next Battlefield Game Aims to Feature 45 Weapons at Launch, 10 Maps, and Include a F2P Battle Royale

Following EA’s recent discussions about the next Battlefield game headed to players, a new rumor report has surfaced talking about the game’s single-player, multiplayer details and even state that the next entry in the franchise will include a free-to-play (F2P) battle royale mode.

The report comes from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who mentions that the “new experience” Ripple Effect is working on is a battle royale mode — and it will be free-to-play much like Call of Duty: Warzone.

We’ve broken down the info into sections are an easier read.

Campaign:

  • Will take place somewhere between 2027 and 2030
  • The campaign focused on a massive private military going up against NATO
  • Will be set in various locations worldwide which includes Gibraltar (which was teased in the game’s first concept art), and the US

Multiplayer:

  •  The aim is to have 45 different weapons at launch
  • Around 10 maps.
  • In terms of destruction, it’s not confirmed whether levolution is returning, though “half a dozen sources” allegedly mentioned that the upcoming Battlefield game will feature “caliber-based” destruction, which is what’s in Rainbow Six Siege. This means that different calibers will cause different amounts of destruction.
  • Movement changes are expected with one example given wherein players will have the ability to pick up and move downed players. This body dragging mechanic won’t be relegated to battle royale, as it’s believed to be part of the dev team’s “Battlefield Moments” initiative.

Finally, the report also mentions that there is no final title for the game yet, though it mentions that EA has allegedly been carrying out mass surveys with participants voting on whether they want the game to be titled “Battlefield 6” or simply “Battlefield.” Mind, if there were surveys sent out, it would have leaked already, no?

Of course, treat all these with a grain of salt, as none have been confirmed by EA or any of the game’s four studios.

Space Marine 2 AI Stupidity to Be Improved via Patch; FAQ on PvE, PvP and More Discussed

If you’ve played through Warhammer 40K: Space Marines 2’s campaign solo, chances are you experienced your AI either not helping, just standing around and letting you get eaten alive by bugs, get stuck on something — or in short: be stupid. Well, that’s going to change in a patch according to developer Saber Interactive.

Answering community concerns in a new Q&A, the dev team touches on topics such as connection issues, the AI bots, PvE, PvP and a lot more.

On the Topic of AI Bots Getting Better via Updates:

Question: Bots are regularly mentioned as inefficient, making solo games significantly harder, and you suggested we work on them. According to you, they don’t participate in focusing on objectives or don’t do enough in tense situations.

Answer: Bots seem a bit passive because we don’t want them to take the spotlight from the player. However, they can sometimes be a bit too passive. In the next patch, we have a few improvements of their behavior against boss fights in the campaign. We are also considering improving their involvement during specific objectives in the campaign for a later patch.

Addressing Connectivity Issues:

We know some of you are experiencing server issues, loss of saves or impossibility to connect with friends. We are ramping up our server capacity to reduce the load on them, and are working day and night to reduce the issues. This is a top priority for the team. A bigger patch is planned soon to improve this topic further, alongside new content.

Space Marine 2 Best Settings

Campaign Veteran Difficulty Being Too Hard to Solo:

Q: Veteran difficulty is said to be too hard in solo as the bots don’t help with the objectives.

A: We will adjust Veteran difficulty in a future patch. It will remain challenging but it will be slightly more fair because we will tweak AI aggressiveness on this difficulty. Other difficulties will remain untouched.

PvE Q&A

BALANCING

Q: Assault is often listed as less powerful than other classes: the jump pack in PVE loses its versatility compared to the one in the campaign.

A: We are still collecting data on this issue to see how we can work on it.

Q: The Blocking weapon trait is seen by the community as a bad thing for melee weapons as it removes the potential for mastery (because there is no “perfect” parry window).

A: We fully agree that this is a bummer, and we’ll definitely make changes in a future patch.

Q: Bolt Rifle family is underperforming while Melta Gun is considered OP

A: We have noticed a bug where the Melta allows the user to heal above the contested health, we aim to fix this in the next patch. As for the rest of weapon balancing, we hear you, and some weapons can underdeliver on the power fantasy at higher difficulty levels. We also recognize that enemies can be too bullet spongy on higher difficulty, which is not much fun. That’s the core issue, rather than the bolters themselves. For now, we are testing some tweaks in difficulty to make the enemies have less health but keep the engaging difficulty.

QUALITY OF LIFE

Q: You asked to be able to have several of the same class, in Operations mode. There is also frustration in matchmaking when two players want to be the same class.

A: For now, we are focusing on improving matchmaking so that you will not matchmake with players of the same class. This is not an easy fix, so it will take us some time to roll it out. As for using the same class, we don’t want to change that rule for regular matchmaking, but we are considering it as an expansion of private lobbies in the future. It will take us time to finish it.

Q: It was observed that players tend to show toxic behaviors as they get kicked late during a game made by a group of friends to let their friend get the XP.

A: We understand this is unfair, and each player will receive XP based on his actual involvement in the mission.

Q: Saved loadouts don’t include skill tree customization, making them less relevant.

A: This is not a priority for us at the moment.

PvP Q&A

MATCHMAKING

Q: You have suggested making it possible to tag as a squad of 6.

A: We understand this need. We want to add custom PvP lobbies and give players more control over the match (for example: frag limit, class restriction, etc.). It’s not that easy to make and it takes time! So please bear with us while we work on it, and we will let you know when we have clearer visibility on when it will be released.

BALANCING

Q: It was brought to our attention that shock grenades are OP. Also, many of you consider melee to be underpowered.

Q: Assault is considered weak in PVP. Bulwark is overpowered in capture zones. And, Heavy is overpowered: too much damage for its durability.

A: Regarding pvp balancing, we are currently reading and crunching the data. We don’t want to make rash decisions before seeing the global picture. At the moment we are checking the most common topics such as melee balancing, shock grenades, bulwark & heavy being too present in capture game modes. Expect some tweaks in the first big content patch but not before.

Q: No team balancing after matches creates unbalanced matches for several matches in a row.

A: We have heard this many times, and we want to improve this in future patches. We are looking into it!

SPAWNING

Q: Spawning locations can create spawn-kill situations.

A: This will be tweaked with some parameters in a future patch. We will implement spawn protection.

Space Marine 2 Update 1.003

Most Upvoted Topics by the Community:

Q: Are we getting new colors for the lenses?

A: New lens colors are planned and coming soon in the next big patch!

Q: You asked to pick the Chaos Space Marines Legions you want for every classes:

A: There are many lore restrictions preventing us from doing this (For instance: We cannot make a sniper with a World Eater armor). It is very tricky to match armor pieces for Chaos. Armor pieces have different sizes and styles, will clip through each other, etc. Also, in PvP it is important to be able to recognize an enemy’s class, and we want to keep the visual identity of each of them. Now, we will not keep it as it is and would like to expand Chaos customization, but the reality is they won’t be as modular as the Loyalist.

Q: Many of you have asked for new classes:

A: That is definitely something we are heavily discussing. Adding a new class is quite heavy on production as we also need to create all the customization, PVP Chaos model variant, and animation set depending on what we go for. We’ll keep you updated about this topic.

Q: About the missing armor colors:

A: We aim to expand specific color masks, such as hand, decals or facemask, in upcoming patches. We will be adding all successor chapters eventually. 😉

Q: Adding new melee weapons:

A: New melee weapons would definitely be an extremely cool addition. Making a weapon and designing it is fine, but we need to make all finishers animations for it. It will take time.

Q: Customizing your Marine’s face:

A: Not a quick fix, but we will add an option to change your Marine’s face!

Q: Optimizing PvP Crossplay:

A: We need more time to discuss that. Custom PvP lobbies will solve a good part of the issue.

Q: Thunderhawk Customization:

A: Doing full Battlebarge and Thunderhawk customization is very cool but not up in our priority list. We prefer to focus our art teams on creating new maps.

Q: Pyreblaster in PvE or PvP:

A: We will add it but it will take time because of visual and gameplay progression. We’ll keep you updated!

Q: To be able to customize the AI squad mates:

A: Still in discussions.

Q: Delete Custom Armor Profile:

A: We worked on this. In the next patch, you will be able to overwrite a custom preset with a default one.

Q: FoV Slider and Left / Right Shoulder swap:

A: FoV slider is not something we are comfortable with, as it can degrade the visual aspect of the game. And on top of that, it is very complex. Our game is not a first person shooter, the camera that we have is very cinematic and constantly changes position and FoV based on what you are doing. Still, we understand that is a very popular request so we are considering it anyway.

As for the shoulder swap,if we are to implement shoulder swap we will need to support it for all melee animations and transitions because everything in melee combat was made based on the fact that you hold pistol in the left hand and melee weapon in the right hand (because it looks badass). Nevertheless, shoulder swap is a feature we will not add in the game.

Q: Get rid of class restriction on cloaks and tabards:

A: These are part of class identity; you get to recognize snipers because of those elements.

Q: I-Frames on gun-strikes:

A: Gun-strikes are a risk/reward action, and it is very easy to spam. We specifically did not put an i-frame on it for balancing reasons, and we are not looking to change this intention.

No word yet on when we’ll be getting the game’s next patch, but once we know more, we’ll let our readers know. On the topic of the AI, it was one of the game’s main issues, which is something we touched on in our review, though it didn’t mire the overall experience.

Recommendations:

  • Helldivers 2 – Deal of the Week (-20%, $31.99) – The first time this game is on sale. Definitely worth it especially if you have non-douchey friends who will help you co-op the enemies and not leave you alone to fend on your own.
  • F1 24 Champion Edition (-40%, $53.99) – Can’t say the bonuses are worth it. If you dig F1, then this is a no-brainer.
  • Sea of Thieves Deluxe Edition (-40%, $29.99) – Over 1 million players can’t be wrong, right? Pirate game without needing a peg leg. If you seek an alternative to Skull and Bones. Still heavily supported.
  • AC Valhalla + Immortals Fenyx Rising Bundle (-75%, $22.49) – Not a bad deal given Valhall isn’t a bad game by any means but just a tad too long for its own good.
  • AC Valhalla + Watch Dogs Legion Bundle (-70%, $21.99) – Same as the one above, not a bad deal. But might drive too much open-world Ubi into your brains where you’ll see markers everywhere.
  • Watch Dogs 1 + 2 Golds Editions (-85%, $13.49) – Not a bad deal, though can’t say if gameplay holds up to this day.
  • Hell Let Loose Ultimate Edition (-50%, $34.99) – Includes a bunch of DLCs though not sure if worth it for the extra items. Era FPS that’s still supported on consoles and PC.
  • Dredge Digital Deluxe (-40%, $16.19) – People who dig Lovecraftian monsters, this is for you. Deceptively grim game.
  • Far Cry Anthology Bundle (-75%, $37.49) – This bundle include Far Cry 3, 4, 5, 6. Dip your toes into the Far Cry pool in one go!
  • Metro 2033 Redux (-85%, $2.99) – First Metro game from 4A, and this one adds graphical enhancements to the original game.
  • Metro Last Light Redux (-85%, $2.99)  – Adds all the DLC and graphical improvements
  • Skull Island: Rise of Kong (-65%, $13.99) – Not worth the buy, but in case you want to torture someone on how a giant ape game can be boring.
  • Blasphemous + Blasphemous 2 Bundle (-40%, $26.99) – Metroidvania game(s). Heard good things about this but I haven’t played it.
  • Ultros Deluxe Edition (-40%, $20.99) – Another Metroidvania that garnered favorable reviews when it was released this year.
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance (-90%, $3.99) – Action RPG. Expect action, intrigue and bugs. Might be time to bite in time for the sequel.
  • Rainbow Six Siege Operation Edition (-65%, $27.99) – Includes about 50 operators from the previous years ready for you to make some noise and mess things up for your team. Still very much supported with quarterly seasons.
  • Insurgency Sandstorm Gold Edition (-50%, $34.99) – Comes with Year 1 Pass. Multiplayer tactical FPS. This is not Call of Duty. Not sure on support, but this had a ton of updates previously. Still a tad too pricey for it, but in case you want a military FPS that’s not COD. This does not have a campaign but more on PvP or squad up with friends in co-op objectives.
  • Castle Crashers Remastered (-80%, $2.99) – Played this at launch and an awesome co-op game. Cartoony graphics but harder than it looks.
  • Cities: Skylines (-85%, $14.99) – City building game. Price includes a load of DLC. Might be worth the pickup since the sequel’s console release just went MIA.

For more sales, head on over here for the “Planet of the Discounts” promotion that’s still on-going until next week.

The Elder Scrolls Online New Update for Sept. 18 Fixes Console Issues From Patch 43

Bethesda has pushed out The Elder Scrolls Online new update for September 18 for consoles, and this should show up as version 2.63 on last-gen, and version 1.013.001 on current-gen. Players can expect a bunch of fixes from issues that surfaced from Patch 43, which was released earlier this month.

The Elder Scrolls Online New Update Version 2.63/1.013.001 Patch Notes:

The Elder Scrolls Online v2.63 (PS4)/ v1.44(PS5) fixes several issues from Update 43 launch, including fixes for Gold Road and Base Game content. Included are fixes to Summon Shade and Winter’s Embrace abilities, adjustments to Ithelia’s facial animations when speaking, and fixes to some Infinite Archive functionality. You’ll find those and several other notable game fixes and adjustments listed below. The size of this patch is approximately 4.7GB (PS4) 741.8 MB (PS5).

Combat & Gameplay

Nightblade
Shadow

  • Summon Shade
    • Shadow Image: Fixed an issue where this morph could be used in areas where movement abilities are meant to be suppressed, such as Imperial City spawn areas. Now, activating the ability in these areas will always fail to spawn the shade but will still act as activating a Shadow ability and drain resources (so activate them to your Magicka’s peril).

Warden
Winter’s Embrace

  • Frozen Gate: Reduced the placement range on this ability and its morphs to 22 meters ( down from 28 meters) so that they can no longer be augmented by range enhancing effects. Fixed an issue where this ability and morphs’ teleport could ignore its ranged requirements and line of sight, creating cases where it could be used to pull enemies through walls or extreme distances. Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs could be used in areas where movement abilities are meant to be suppressed.

Itemization & Item Sets

Class Sets

  • Nobility in Decay: Fixed an issue where the special case of treating yourself as a corpse granted from this set would fail to activate conditions that stated “When you consume a corpse.”

Fixes and Improvements – Gold Road

Monsters & NPCs

Ithelia

  • Made adjustments to Ithelia’s facial animations when speaking.
  • Added light reflections to Ithelia’s eyes.

Dungeons & Group Content

Silorn Public Dungeon

  • Implemented performance and FPS improvements within certain areas of the Silorn public Dungeon (West Weald).

Quests & Zones

Ayleid Altercations

  • Fixed an issue where you could not see Elfbetta when starting her quest from an alternate location.

Tracking the Trapper

  • Marcien no longer bumps into things as he walks around the area.

General

  • Hassedaz’s Voriplasm no longer heal themselves to full after being defeated.

Fixes & Improvements – Base Game

Alliance War & PvP

General

  • Fixed an issue where you could encounter an infinite load screen when loading into a Battleground.
  • Fixed an issue with the Ebonheart armory station in Cyrodiil that was incorrectly stating it was out of range during interaction.

Art & Animation

General

  • Fixed an issue where icons were not visible when crafting items in the Hircine Bloodhunter Crafting Style.

Crown Store & Crown Crates

Motifs

  • Added image to replace missing one in product tiles for West Weald Legion Bundle and the Lucent Sentinel Style.
  • Added image to replace missing one in product tiles for Blind Path Cultist Style.

Dungeons, Arenas & Group Content

Infinite Archive

  • Audio
    • SFX & VO mix updates to Tho’at Replicanum bossfight to improve presentation.
  • General
    • The Mystery Transformation Verse consumable has new information on its tooltip to indicate its use is limited to once per Archive attempt.
    • The movement speed effect from having Tentacular Motivation unlocked now correctly reapplies after returning from a Portal to the Unknown.
  • Verses and Visions
    • You will no longer have the chance to select the Storm Projection vision once you have reached five stacks of that vision.
    • The Storm Projection and Adaptive Conqueror visions now function correctly after returning from a Portal to the Unknown.
    • Several Verses including Undead Avatar, Iron Atronach, Ice Avatar, Frenzied Zeal and Temporal Speed now correctly reapply all of their effects after returning from a Portal to the Unknown.

Events & Celebrations

Witches Festival

  • The Lord of Fear: Fixed an issue where certain fixtures in Gatzug’s nightmare might not appear

Exploration & Itemization

General

  • Achievements
    • Quartermasters who can function as Guild Traders in Cyrodiil now correctly progress the achievement “Guild Store Shopper.”

Housing

General

  • Fixed an issue where the Report action would sometimes appear unbound in gamepad mode when visiting a home listed in Home Tours.
  • Fixed an issue with the furnishing “Colovian Chandelier, Metal” where its light was offset.
  • Home Visitors with “Limited Visitor” permissions can now use Home Owners Mundus Stones.

UI

  • Added the “View Gamercard” option to housing occupants list on console. You can now see visiting player’s Gamercards if they have visited your home.

Miscellaneous

PS4

  • The update history for 2.63 is now present while in Japanese on PlayStation 4.

Quests & Zones

General

  • Fixed an issue where a number of Thalmor-dressed NPCs erroneously had their equipment changed to Divine Prosecution gear, which had the side effect of making many mage-types pantsless.

Glenumbra

  • Fixed an issue where the Red Rook Camp became associated with Gold Road ownership, causing the completion icon to look weird.

The Rift

  • Fixed an issue where a Shardborn Warpriest snuck out of West Weald and into Pinepeak Cavern.

UI

General

  • Switching tabs in the gamepad inventory should no longer produce a UI error when search results are empty.
  • You should no longer encounter issues navigating to the scribing section of the skills menu on gamepad UI while attempting a skill Respec.

MAPS

MAP UPDATES

» REBIRTH ISLAND «
  • Hellspawn Variant
    • The hellmouth has opened over Rebirth Island, transforming it into a gore-soaked nightmare. Devilish tentacles, a blood-red ocean, and crimson vegetation now dominate the landscape. Venture into the prison and lighthouse to encounter foul anomalies and ominous shadows. The Factory and Dockyards are filled with unnatural red waters and fleshy growths. Lightning crackles as grotesque sights and eerie threats await around every corner. Enter Hellspawn if you dare.

» VONDEL «

  • Vondel Night Variant
    • Night falls on Vondel, casting shadows over the city and its canals. Battle from the Castle to the Cruise Terminal, navigating the waterways under moonlight. While visibility is good under the city lights, beware of the undead terrors lurking throughout.

MODES

NEW LIMITED-TIME MODES

  • Purgatory
    • There’s lots of fun to be had in Purgatory, a new squad-based LTM taking place on the Rebirth Island Hellspawn map variant featuring a sandbox setting where squads can battle and complete objectives at their own pace.
    • Custom Loadouts are always available, and all Operators receive infinite respawns.
    • The mode supports a variety of interesting mechanics to enjoy during your long stay, including:
      • Insane Powerups: Purgatory features excellent loot including powerful Weapon Blueprints and plentiful Killstreaks. Find and equip super weapons from the Arcade mode and gain enhanced abilities from Mutation.
      • Portals: Peer into the image of a portal to see where it will take you. Step inside to transport there.
      • Flying Shipment: In this strange environment, Shipment flies over the island on a drivable platform, accessible via parachute, helicopter, and by portal.
      • Chill in the Safe Zone: Move into designated Safe Zones to take a break from combat and chill with other Operators. Safe Zones are easily identified by the translucent dome enclosing them. Inside the dome, Operators enter third-person perspective and are unable to deal or receive damage.
      • Torment Level: Eliminating enemies increases your Torment Level. The higher your Torment Level, the more XP you earn per elimination. But the advantage comes at a cost: as your Torment Level increases, so does your presence on the enemy minimap, increasing your visibility to enemy players.
      • Scare Packages: Dropped in various locations throughout the match, Scare Packages include powerful loot and some unexpected side effects. Seek them out and roll the dice…
      • Terriball: You’ll need to be quick on your feet around Terriballs. They spawn around the map and are found in Scare Packages, too. Shoot, melee, or run into a Terriball to send it flying, instantly eliminating any Operator it hits.
    • Squads can achieve a victory condition. Eliminate enemies and commend your peers to progress during your stay in the afterlife.
    • Duration: 4 Weeks
    • Map: Hellspawn
  • Zombie Royale
    • Fall and rise again as the undead in Zombie Royale. Eliminated Operators will become zombies, giving you the chance to seek revenge while taking out any other living Operators you encounter on the way. Zombies gain unique abilities like faster movement speed, stronger melee attacks, advanced vision, a charged jump and more.
    • Duration: 4 Weeks
    • Maps: Hellspawn (Weeks 1 & 2), Vondel Night (Weeks 3 & 4)

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Final Fantasy 16 Profits Did Not Meet Expectations, Admits Square Enix

While the PS5 is unquestionably the market leader in consoles this gen, it seems the game’s userbase isn’t enough to carry the game where Square Enix wants it in terms of commercial success.

This was revealed by Square Enix in its financial results briefing which was held in May, but the report was just released today. According to Square Enix President and Representative Director Takashi Kiryu, “In the HD Games sub-segment, we released multiple new titles, including major titles such as “Final Fantasy XVI” and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but profits unfortunately did not meet our expectations.”

While no sales figures were released for both Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16, this is the first time Square Enix admitted that both games’ sales performance were not as good as they would have liked, With Final Fantasy 16 now available on PC, this should help bolster its sales. Of course, releasing the game on Xbox Series X|S would further add to the overall sales figure, but Square Enix has made no announcement about that. As for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it’s just a matter of time until it’s announced for PC, as Final Fantasy 7 Remake did see a PC release a year after the RPG was released on PlayStation platforms.

In terms of quality, both FF7 Rebirth and FF16 fared quite well among critics. Our review of FF16 gave it an outstanding 9.5/10 score, while our Rebirth review got a perfect 10/10 from the site.

Alongside both Final Fantasy games that underperformed, another game by Square Enix that didn’t meet expectations is Foamstars, as the game recently went free-to-play amid its fledgling player base.

MAPS

GENERAL

  • Warzone Rewards
    • The previously introduced reward system continues with new trackable Challenges and rewards:

      • Mobility: Get out and explore the map. Move fast and far to acquire the rewards in this category.
      • Redacted: Sometimes Operators must make do with limited intel. Puzzle out these redacted Challenges to reap the rewards.
    • A reward is given after completing every Challenge. Unlock a new Weapon Camo in each, including “The Fallout” Weapon Camo for completing Combat Expertise, “Whispering Veil” Weapon Camo for completing Cooperation, “Mutant Flux” Weapon Camo for completing Mobility, and “Headed to Hell” Weapon Camo for completing Redacted.

Following yesterday’s gargantuan patch that addressed a lot of balance concerns and an initiative to make the game more user-friendly, there’s a new patch released today for Helldivers 2 for a hotfix. This is a client-side download and will show up as Helldivers 2 update 1.001.101, and this includes a short list of fixes.

  • Fix for SH-32 Shield Generator Pack
  • Crash fix

Fixes

  • Fix for a crash during host migration when a new player joins.

Alongside the short list of fixes, Arrowhead Game Studios has also relayed the known issues they are dealing with right now too:

Known Issues

These are the highest priority issues that were either introduced by this patch and are being worked on, or are from a previous version and have not yet been fixed. This is not a comprehensive list.

Top Priority:

  • Players may not receive Friend Requests sent from another platform
  • Large units have no audio cues, allowing them to sneak up on players
  • Enemies will try to shoot the generators through walls in the Rescue High-Value Assets mission
  • Enemies are sometimes capable of shooting through walls
  • Social menu is stuck on ‘Please Wait Democratically’ for some players
  • Dead bodies of Chargers can launch the Helldiver into the air
  • Stratagem balls bounce unpredictably off cliffs and some spots
  • Players may sometimes be unable to join specific friends, or are returned to ship when joined

Medium Priority:

  • Reinforcement may not be available for players who join a game in progress
  • Mines may become invisible or may disappear in Multiplayer lobbies
  • Pelican-1 may sometimes be launched away if hit with an impaler tentacle
  • Supply packs may be incorrectly used if pressing down on a controller while calling in a stratagem
  • Friends “Invite only” games can still be seen on the Galactic War Map but cannot be joined
  • High damage weapons will not detonate hellbombs
  • Some enemies that bleed out do not progress Personal Orders and Eradicate missions

Expect more patches to be released for the game as part of its 60-day plan.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered ESRB Rating Surfaces, Lists It for PS5, PC

Back in 2022, we broke a story on how Sony was remaking Horizon Zero Dawn. At the time, it was a bit fuzzy whether it was a full-on remake or it was just being remastered. Well, it seems we have the answer to that, as the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered ESRB rating has surfaced!

Rated “T” for Teen, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is listed for PS5 and PC and has the following summary on the ESRB website:

Rating Summary

This is an action/role-playing game in which players assume the role of a hunter (Aloy) surviving through a post-apocalyptic world. Players guide Aloy as she learns to hunt robotic creatures and animals in the wild. Aloy uses arrows, spears, and explosive traps to injure and kill machines, boar, and occasional human enemies. Animals and humans emit small puffs of red blood when struck; one sequence depicts an abandoned camp with large blood stains on rocks and trees. The game contains a brief reference to sexual material (e.g., “Eighteen months hard labor in exchange for thirty years lounging around Elysium watching porn?”). In text/audio files, characters sometimes reference fictional drugs, overdoses, and getting high: “…not even out of junior high and already a drug addict”; “…I ran across a pusher who was selling Razorwing for eight bucks a tab”; “I’d spend a few days getting high, then OD on Overcast.” The word “sh*t” appears in the text/dialogue.

Chances are, an announcement is right around the horizon (sorry! Couldn’t resist). Perhaps a new State of Play is in order? This makes a lpt more sense especially after the disastrous PS5 Pro reveal event.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released on the PS4 back in February 2017 to critical acclaim, and it was followed up by an expansion titled the Frozen Wilds that was pushed out in November of the same year. Since then, we’ve gotten its sequel Horizon Forbidden West which was released in 2022,  and it also got an expansion titled Burning Shores that was released in 2023.

Will players want another remaster from Sony though? We’ll know for sure once it’s announced, and we see the reception.

More Info Coming Soon!

Also, the devs note that there will be ongoing netcode, matchmaking and anti-cheat improvements all throughout the game’s seasons as well.

Speaking of netcode, the dev team has hired “specialist engineers” to help with this and hitreg (hit registration). There are two key areas they are working on:

  1. Focus on increasing the amount of proactive resend of packets to mitigate issues experienced by players suffering from packet loss.
    • Bandwidth reduction efforts ongoing to allow for this as we need to reduce bandwidth usage to accommodate the bandwidth increases associated with proactive resend.
  2. Migrating more gameplay systems to lightweight networking protocols to improve their responsiveness.

So basically, we want to automatically resend every packet 4 times. That is the basic industry standard because packet loss is more common than people realize but usually losing a few packets here and there isn’t a big deal. In a twitch shooter however, it is. Right now, we are only resending twice because our packets are basically too big (simplifying the issue) and if we resend 4 times the traffic will slow down and will create worse Netcode/Hitreg issues. So, we need to reduce the size of our packets (again simplifying) and then we should be able to do 4 frames of automatic resends and that should make a huge difference in people’s Netcode/Hitreg experience.

This is a big task, but everyone is working as hard as possible to get this work in as soon as possible. It’s hard to give you a solid estimate as to when it will be ready because there is a lot of iteration and testing time. But we’re hoping to see something towards the end of Season 2 if not sooner.

The dev team also clarified that the game is “absolutely” NOT dying, and that the game is doing well, but they want it to do even better. The Season 2 reveal is happening tomorrow, September 18, and once more info on that is known, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

New Battlefield Game Has BF Portal Devs Working on “New Experience;” Large Scale Community Testing Program Launching Early 2025

Following yesterday’s new Battlefield game concept art reveal, EA seems to be ramping up on the game’s hype a bit, as new details about the in-development title has surfaced during today’s EA Investor Day presentation.

Group GM of the Battlefield franchise Byron Beede went on stage to address the four studios working on the game. In case you didn’t know, we reported back in May that there are four first-party EA studios working on the upcoming Battlefield game. This time around, Beede confirmed each studio’s involvement:

  • DICE – Multiplayer
  • Criterion Games – Single-Player & Multiplayer
  • Motive – Single-Player
  • Ripple Effect – Working on a “new experience.”

Based on past games in the franchise, DICE Sweden is once again heading the multiplayer part of the game with Criterion helping out (especially with vehicle gameplay). Motive, which developed the excellent Dead Space remake, is heading the single-player campaign, while Ripple Effect Studios which worked on Battlefield 2042’s Battlefield Portal mode is working on something new. Could this be a new iteration of BF Portal in the new Battlefield game? Perhaps another stab at battle royale? We can’t say for sure for now.

In the same presentation, Beede also showed off two new screens for the new Battlefield game as well. While they’re obstructed a bit with text, you can still see a good part of it.

Beede mentioned that they’ve been playtesting the new Battlefield game almost daily for “well over a year” and how this time around, they are focusing on their “keep green” initiative, which means they are targeting software stability, so the game is always playable for playtesting. Furthermore, Beede confirmed they are already testing with players, and what’s more, they are planning to introduce a “large scale community-driven testing program” early next year! Beede says this should give EA more feedback on gameplay, performance, and fun factor,  and should help in what the studio chief calls “finding the fun” like never before.

Finally, Beede concludes by saying everyone at EA are “all in” on Battlefield, and how the franchise and the players deserve their best.

Star Wars Jedi “Final Chapter” Being Worked on by Respawn

It looks like the next adventure of Cal Kestis will be his last, as EA has confirmed that the “final chapter” of Star Wars Jedi is being worked o by Respawn Entertainment.

This was announced during Electronic Arts’ Investor Day 2024 presentation. In the event, Laura Miele, EA Entertainment and Technology president shared some impressive stats on the Star Wars games the publisher has pushed out, stating they earned over $5 billion in net bookings and added,  “This impressive track record includes, of course, the Star Wars Jedi games, where over 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi.” Miele followed that up by stating that “Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players.”

No other info was shared outside of that, but at least we know the third chapter is being worked on, and that it’ll be the final one. Of course, the franchise ending with the third game isn’t really all that surprising given Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director and former Respawn employee Stig Asmussen mentioned that he sees the franchise as a trilogy, and with EA stating that the game was pacing “very strongly,” then that means the publisher was happy with the sales numbers (even though no specific data was shared).

Speaking of the franchise, the last-gen (PS4, Xbox One) versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being released today. If you haven’t played it yet, go check out our review of it here where we state, “Respawn hasn’t hit the dreaded Sophomore Slump with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but it’s not the massive follow-up that a lot of people were hoping for. ”

We’ll have more on EA’s Investors Day presentation, so stay tuned.

Competitive Updates

Competitive Drives

Competitive Drives are limited-time events that take place near the end of seasons in Competitive Play Role Queue. As you complete a Drive you’ll earn bonus Competitive Points and a new reward called “Signatures”. Signatures are a cosmetic reward that appears on your name in most locations where your name is displayed, including your Name Card, Play of the Game Highlights, Scoreboard, and Hero Select. Signatures are upgraded as you reach Checkpoints in a Drive.

When you win a match you’ll earn Drive Score and progress toward the next Checkpoint. Losing subtracts Drive Score, but generally less than winning, and Checkpoints prevent you from losing score once you reach them.

There are 6 Checkpoints and they grant the following rewards in order of completion:

  • 500 Competitive Points
  • Signature
  • 1000 Competitive Points
  • Advanced Signature
  • 500 Competitive Points
  • Elite Signature

Your progression on a Drive is shared across all roles in Role Queue. You do not earn progression toward your Drive in Open Queue Competitive Play.

When you complete Drives your Signature will be upgraded to show off how many Drives you’ve completed in total.

Signatures are removed after a Rank Reset.

Hero Updates

GENERAL
  • Armor flat damage reduction decreased from 10 to 7 per impact.

Developer Comment: The recent increase to armor’s effectiveness improved the survivability of armored heroes more than we’d like for how passive it is, so we’re tuning it down to a middle-ground value.

TANK

Tank Role Passive

• Knockback resistance reduced from 40% to 25%.

Developer Comment: This knockback resistance value has changed a few times as the environment of the game shifts. With Juno entering the roster and bringing more sources of speed boost to help rush down the enemy team, we’d like to make tanks more susceptible to displacement again.

D.Va

Developer Comment: There has been a lot of community feedback surrounding D.Va lately. On average she hasn’t been overperforming, but she’s quite difficult to take down. So we’re shifting some of her armor to normal health and reducing her max combined health by 25 armor. With armor’s effectiveness being hit in the same patch, we’ll keep an eye on how this plays out and adjust as necessary.

  • Mech armor health reduced from 375 to 325.
  • Mech base health increased from 200 to 225.

Orisa

Developer Comment: We still don’t want Orisa to easily chase enemies down while Fortified since there’s not much you can do to fight back during that time, so while we’re not removing the movement speed penalty entirely, we are lowering it to a point where it will feel much better for Orisa to use.

Fortify
  • Movement speed penalty reduced from 20% to 10%.

Roadhog

Developer Comment: This is a reversion to Roadhog’s previous resource regeneration rate to improve his primary tanking ability’s uptime. There were several adjustments to reduce the power of this ability but they may not have been necessary as Roadhog has been underperforming for some time now.

Take a Breather
  • Resource regeneration rate increased from 8 to 10 per second.

Sigma

Developer Comment: This shift in damage from the Hyperspheres direct impact into the explosion component is to improve the effectiveness of the airburst explosion when playing at max range and makes it more threatening against tightly grouped enemies.

Hyperspheres
  • Impact damage reduced from 25 to 15.
  • Explosion damage increased from 30 to 40.
  • No longer deals damage to self.

Damage

Bastion

Developer Comment: The spread reduction is intended to improve the Assault mode weapon’s effective range against smaller targets while not changing much in regard to how good it is against tank heroes and their large size.

Configuration: Assault
  • Spread reduced from 2.2 to 2 degrees.
Configuration: Artillery
  • Ultimate cost reduced 12%.

Cassidy

Developer Comment: We’re reducing how impactful the hinder effect is by lowering its duration, as this crowd control can be a significant source of frustration for players. Since now there is less time to follow up with shots from the weapon while the opponent is hindered, we’re increasing the explosion damage of Flashbang.

Flashbang
  • Hinder duration reduced from 1.2 to 0.9 seconds.
  • Explosion damage increased from 45 to 75.
Deadeye
  • Ultimate cost reduced 10%.

Hanzo

Developer Comment: This change restores Hanzo’s one hit headshot kill against 250 health heroes, though it will require more accuracy with the smaller projectile size and is now slower to charge shots to reduce the frequency of projectiles being thrown out.

After trying the recent iterations of Hanzo post Season 9, we feel the one-shot capability is too essential to the core gameplay feel of these sniper heroes (similar to Widowmaker) without a much larger rework. Being limited to a smaller range of heroes that could be one shot (225 HP and below) added some texture to the hero matchups but wasn’t a satisfying compromise for either side.

Storm Bow
  • Normal arrows are no longer affected by global projectile size increases.
  • Maximum damage increased from 120 to 125.
  • Time to fully charge increased from 0.72 to 0.87 seconds.

Venture

Developer Comment: As a highly mobile damage hero, Venture doesn’t need quite as much shield health from their passive as they currently get to be successful. Even though they are a close-range hero, their abilities enable them to close the gap quickly and effectively without taking much damage.

Explorer’s Resolve
  • Shield health gained per ability reduced from 40 to 30.

Support

Moira

Developer Comment: Moira’s ultimate didn’t feel threatening enough after the health adjustments across the cast and her own lower health value.

Coalescence
  • Damage per second increased from 70 to 85.

Lifeweaver

Developer Comment: The increased firing duration for Thorn Volley will give Lifeweaver more damage presence and it lines up better with his auto-charging heal timing to help that flow nicely.

Thorn Volley
  • Maximum ammo increased from 80 to 100

Zenyatta

Developer Comment: With the current addition of more speed boosts in the game, Zenyatta (and generally more poke-oriented team compositions by extension) has fallen off a bit due to how immobile and vulnerable he can be. We’ve tried increasing his health in the past but it’s proven problematic, so instead we’re leaning into his glass-cannon nature. We’re improving his damage this time, which should enable new break points in how many shots are required to eliminate an enemy.

Destruction Orb
  • Damage increased from 48 to 50.
Orb of Discord
  • Cooldown per target reduced from 7 to 6 seconds.

Map Updates

CLASH
  • Fast Respawn after a point has been captured has been removed from Clash. We’ll be looking to implement an alternate version of it for Clash in the future.
  • Respawn times for defenders get reduced by 2 seconds for each segment the attackers secure in the final capture zone.
FLASHPOINT
  • The initial boost of speed heroes receive when leaving the spawn has been increased in duration from 1 second to 2 seconds.
  • Increased maximum potential duration of the speed boost effect from 5 to 6 seconds.

Bug Fixes

GENERAL
  • Fixed an issue where players were not gaining credit when queuing for all roles in challenges and progression stats.
  • Fixed an issue where wall climbing heroes could infinitely ledge grab.
HEROES

CASSIDY

  • Fixed an issue where Deadeye would incorrectly indicate a killing blow on Ramattra.

D.VA

  • Fixed an issue with D.Va’s Boosters movement speed stacking multiplicatively with speed boosting abilities.

LIFEWEAVER

  • Fixed an issue that would cause Lifeweaver’s petal platform to continue to rise when interacting with Mei’s Ice effects.
  • Fixed an issue where Lifeweavers’s petal platform can move horizontally if placed on a moving object.

SIGMA

  • Fixed an issue with Sigma’s Gravitic Flux percentage health damage being affected by damage reduction.

SYMMETRA

  • Fixed an issue where audio would remain muffled if you used a teleporter while hindered.
