Originally set for a November 15 release, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed by Ubisoft for a few months, and will now see the light of day on February 14, 2025. According to the publisher, the delay will help the devs with more time to polish and refine the experience.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a dream project for us; finally bringing the series to Feudal Japan with many features developed with our community in mind, such as parkour or the renewed stealth, brought by new technology, all set in a beautiful and immersive world.
This is an ambitious addition to the franchise, a rich experience that can be lived through the eyes of two unique protagonists – but we realize we need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features.
As such, we’ve made the decision to postpone the release date to February 14, 2025. The game will release on a broad range of platforms, including Steam at launch. Additionally, preorders will be refunded and all future preorders will be granted the first expansion for free.
We understand this decision will come as disappointing news, especially to those who’ve been waiting patiently for an Assassin’s Creed game inspired by Feudal Japan, but we sincerely believe this is in the best interest of the game, and ultimately your experience as a player.
Rest assured we are looking forward to the moment you will embark on a memorable adventure with Naoe and Yasuke.
Until then, we thank you for your ongoing support.
Marc-Alexis Côté, on behalf of all teams working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
This news comes after the game’s producer states that a four-year development cycle is is the “ideal” time for a new Assassin’s Creed game. I guess four years isn’t enough time, then. The game has recently seen controversy as well, as Ubisoft was allegedly caught using bots to farm engagement for the game.

Added “replace_block_item” field to the “minecraft:block_placer” item component. This field allows you to specify that this item should replace the default item created for the data-driven block it places. To use this field, the identifier of the item must match the identifier of the block it places. This field is optional and defaults to false.

Added horizontal and vertical rotation limits to the Focus Target Camera experimental toggle
Added “continue_targeting” bool to the Focus Target Camera experimental toggle for tracking entities outside of set rotation limits
Graphical
Fixed a bug with point light shadows that would cause circles to appear on nearby surfaces. As a consequence, the edges of point light shadows are now jagged. This will be resolved in a later update.
Added the ability to data-drive the ambient light in the Deferred Technical Preview. The ambient light is used as the indirect specular contribution when SSR and IBL are not available or when they are insufficient to illuminate metal objects in low light conditions. It is also used as the minimum value that ambient contribution can have, thus avoiding scenes from being completely black if no light sources are present. See updated documentation on the Creator portal for more information.
Made a breaking schema change to JSON files associated with the Deferred Technical Preview to hoist the "format_version" field out to the root level. Documentation on the Creator portal will be updated accordingly. The following files are affected:
"atmospherics/atmospherics.json"
"color_grading/color_grading.json"
"lighting/global.json"
"pbr/global.json"
"point_lights/global.json"
"water/water.json"
For example, the previous schema for "lighting/global.json" was:
Respawn has released the Apex Legends new update for September 25 on all platforms, which appears as update version 2.68 on last-gen, and version 1.000.082 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S! This brings a short list of fixes to the battle royale shooter, and we’ve also included the known issues the dev team is tackling as well.
Apex Legends New Update 2.68 | Version 1.000.082 Patch Notes:
Here’s what’s new with the patch according to Respawn:
Support and Assault Perk Bins will now correctly display icons and will be visible on the map only when they have not yet been opened
Lighting issues on the Thunderdome map
Fast mouse movement on DirectX 12 causes the cursor to move outside of the game window
Battle Pass’s Level 50 reward of 100AC not clearly being marked as “free”
Sony has kicked off the PlayStation Store “Big Games, Big Deals” sale this September 25, and could very well be the PlayStation 30th anniversary sale. We’re saying “maybe” since there is a chance the company can spring a surprise sale before the month ends, but we’re not holding our breath for it given this sale has over 3,000 items and includes FromSoftware games, and a bunch of deep discounts on new-ish titles as well.
Read on for the complete list of deals and our recommendations!
PlayStation Store “Big Games, Big Deals” Sale List of Games – Ends 10/9:
Note: We have enabled a collapsible table for the games given the huge list. To see the games in each list, click on the black arrow and/or the letters (A – E, F – J, K – O, P – T, U – Z).
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (-33%, $46.89) – For those looking forward to this before dipping, here you go! Go play FF7 Remake first before this but if you already have, then jump into this GOTY contender at a discounted price.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake & Rebirth Digital Deluxe (-33%, $80.39) – If you haven’t played Remake, then go pick this up, so you’ll understand why people wax on and on about FF7.
AC Mirage (-50%, $29.99) – If you want to play last year’s AC game before Shadows drops, then this is the lowest I’ve seen it on sale on PSN.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 (-43%, $39.89) – The lowest this game has been on sale so far. Follow up to Capcom’s successful action-RPG. Uses the Pawn system and has that quirky Japanese feel.
Persona 3 Persona Reload PS4 & PS5 (-40%, $41.99) – Last DLC drop The Answer was released this month. Persona fans will want to pick this up.
Bloodborne (-50%, $9.99) – DLC is also on sale for the same price. Get this now since we aren’t getting a remaster/remake or even a proper patch for PS5 for this until after Sony remasters every first-party IP.
Street Fighter 6 (-50%, $29.99) – Terry Bogard entered the roster yesterday! Loads of support on the way. The versions with the Character Pass are also on sale as well.
Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition (-20%, $39.99) – Includes the Separate Ways premium DLC and another DLC pack. Well, worth the purchase. Possibly the best RE game of all-time remade and improved in every single way (except maybe for Salazar).
AC Mirage & Valhalla (-65%, $34.99) – Prefer Valhalla to Mirage, but at this price, the game time associated with both games make it worth it. Just be mindful that Valhalla kind of overstays its welcome given its so long.
Resident Evil Village Gold Edition (-60%, $19.99) -Includes Winters’ expansion that ends the story started in RE7 and also includes Resident Evil Re:Verse that you probably won’t even try.
Dark Souls 3 (-50%, $29.99) – The DLCs are also on sale. If you like From’s games, then this is a no-brainer pick up.
Batman: Arkham Collection: (-90%, $5.99) – Yes, yes no 60fps whatever. But at that price and the quality of the gameplay? Yeah, definitely worth a go. \
Remnant 2 Ultimate Edition (-50%, $34.99) – Badass action game. This bundle includes the three story expansions, and The Dark Horizon was released just yesterday. Ingenious puzzles, deep combat system. Doesn’t matter if you haven’t played the first one.
The Witcher 3 Complete Edition (-75%, $12.49) – This has been updated for PS5. Includes the two expansion packs, and this is one of my fave games of all-time, and is just so well made. Side missions are brilliantly well made, combat lets you choose how to fight. Just an amazing game that you need to play regardless if this is your first Witcher game or not.
Cyberpunk 2077 (-25%, $53.24) – Launched as a disaster and now the game CDPR envisioned it to be. Do NOT play this on last-gen given it’s still crap. Amazing RPG with CDPR’s familiar care into each facet.
UFC 5 Ultimate Edition (-$50%, $49.99) – The only MMA game in town. EA supporting this with free fighters almost every month.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (-62%, $15.19) – If you want to save up and get a feel if FF7 is your game, then this is as low as I’ve ever seen it on PSN. Cloud & Co’s first adventure and kicks off one of the best Final Fantasy games of all-time.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre (-45%, $10.99) – Lowest I’ve seen it on PSN. Asymmetrical multiplayer game (think: Dead by Daylight). Still getting support which is a good sign.
Crash Bandicoot 4 – (-60%, $47.99) – Have not played this, but if it’s similar to the past Crash games, then platforming fans are in for a treat. But, the quadrilogy bundle is on sale, so…
Crash Bandicoot Quadrilogy Bundle – (-60%, $35.99) – If you dig the Crash games, then this is a super good deal. Just don’t forget it’s much harder than you remember.
Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (-65%, %13.99) – Support for this has ended, but when you don’t have Mario Kart, this is the next best thing since we aren’t getting a new Modnation Racers anytime soon.
CTR + Spyro Bundle (-65%, $26.24) – Includes CTR and the Spyro Triple Play Bundle.
RoboCop: Rogue City (-50%, $29.99) – Underrated action game, and not your usual licensed cashgrab. Makes you feel like you’re playing as Alex Murphy without the severed limbs and whatnot.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (-67%, $16.49) – If you still haven’t played Skyrim, then this is probably the lowest it’ll ever get. Still getting support with updates from time to time surprisingly.
Dark Souls Remastered (-50%, $19.99) – The remaster of the game that started it all.
Wo Long (%35, $25.99) – Team Ninja’s Souls-like. The Season Pass is also on sale.
Horizon Forbidden West (-50%, $19.99/$29.99) – Lowest I’ve seen it here. PS5 version is $10 more. If you’re planning on playing HZD Remastered, then this is the next logical step if you haven’t already unless you’re prepared to wait for Horizon Forbidden West Remastered in a few years’ time.
Mount & Blade 2 (-40%, $29.99) – PS5 version is $6 more. Support is ending soon if I’m not mistaken, but this kind of games have their own cult following. YouTube it to see if it’s something you’ll dig or not.
Cult of the Lamb Heretic Edition (-50%, $17.49) – Just went free on PS Plus recently, no? For those familiar, this is an awesome game that lets you build your own cult! Who doesn’t want to be loved and worshipped, right? Only game that lets you be worshipped and scoop poop!
Bully (-40%, $8.99) – GTA in high school! Nope, we aren’t getting a re-release it seems.
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection (-60%, $19.99) – Uncharted 4r and its DLC. Nathan Drake’s swan song. Naughty Dog at their finest. Cinematic story-telling, non-stop action. Indiana Jones but with a higher kill count.
Nobody Wants to Die (-25%, $14.24) – Was just released this July, and reviewed fairly well. This is a detective game and not an action game even if the screenshots state otherwise. Minority Report as a game? Maybe. I suggest watching gameplay first to see if it suits your style. Short game as well, and a slower pace than what you’re probably used to.
Demon’s Souls (-58%, $29.39) – Doesn’t go on sale often, and a remake of From’s beloved game. If you dug Bloodborne and haven’t played this yet, now’s your chance.
Metal Gear Solid V Definitive Experience (-40%, $11.99) – The only MGS game I have never finished. This is Snake in an open-world setting. Graphics still look amazing.
Hitman World of Assassination (-55%, $44.99) – Includes Hitman 1+2+3 campaigns, DLCs and more. If you dig Hitman’s gameplay, this is a steal.
Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition + RE Village Gold Edition (-63%, $29.59) -Houses two excellent RE games. Starts and ends the Winters storyline since this also includes the Winters’ Expansion DLC.
Atomic Heart (-60%, $27.99) – First-person action game by Mundfish. It kind of has that BioShock vibe but not as polished and not on the same level of quality.
Alan Wake Remastered (-67%, %9.89) – Remake of the first game which, while not as awesome as Alan Wake 2, is still a solid game that has you scrounging for batteries.
DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition (-75%, $17.49) – Includes the Ancient Gods campaign. Gory, full-on action.
Resident Evil Raccoon City Edition (-75%, $14.99) – Includes RE2 and RE3 remake. While the RE3 remake is OK, RE2 is my fave RE remake and just a great way to experience the horror franchise. Loads of improvements, upgraded graphics. Buy it for RE2!
Dark Souls 2 (-$50, $19.99) – Includes all the DLCs. If you’ve skipped this or want another Souls game, then go right ahead.
Monster Hunter World (-50%, $9.99) – My fave Monster Hunter game. Loads of stuff to do even without the Iceborne DLC. Better with friends. Kill monsters, farm their carcasses, make new equipment to hunt even bigger monsters!
Hazelight Bundle (-67%, $19.79) – It Takes Two + A Way Out. Co-op partner required or you literally cannot play this. If you can find someone, well worth the buy since it will test your patience between each other.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (-75%, $12.49) – Cal’s debut game. Prepare for loads of backtracking, Cal running like a wookie is up his ass. Good story, and is an easier Souls-like game with a Star Wars coating.
Battlefield V – (-85%, $7.49) – Don’t know the player base now, but DICE managed to bring this to acceptable levels. Plus side it has a classic Op Metro map.
Little Nightmares (-75%, $4.99) – Amazing little dark platforming game. Horror vibe but not too scary. Just charming and fun.
Crysis Remastered Trilogy (-75%, $12.49) – Crysis but with no multiplayer. This was the benchmark for graphics decades ago on PC.
Octopath Traveler 2 (-40%, $35.99) – Doesn’t go on sale often. Old school RPG, quite long and has you playing different characters. RPG fans will want to give this a go given how charming and has that classic feel to it. Doesn’t matter if you haven’t played the first game.
Saints Row (-75%, %7.49) – Lowest it’s ever been. YMMV on your interest. Don’t expect GTA quality and it tries a bit too much most of the time. But cheap open world game.
Days Gone (-60%, $19.99) – Zombie game that lets you kill off mobs in different ways. Buy this so you can buy the remastered version for $10 in the future.
Streets of Rage 4 (-50%, $12.49) – Awesome beat-em-up with updated gameplay mechanics. Perfect game to play with friends or your SO.
Sea of Stars (-35%, $22.74) – Acclaimed RPG that feels like old-school in a good way. Haven’t finished it but liked what I played so far. Reviewed very well too.
Forspoken (-70%, $28.40) – Underrated or overrated depending on your POV. Not as bad as some say it is, but just be prepared for quips.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (-80%, $11.99) – Severely underrated game and didn’t get enough recognition when it launched. Go play this to see what a good Marvel game is that’s not made by Sony.
Crash Team Rumble + Crash 4 (-55%, $35.99) – Support has ended for Rumble just this year. But if you want to play the Crash characters in multiplayer but not in racing, then this might be your thing.
Amnesia The Bunker (-55%, $11.24) – Latest Amnesia game and has more combat than its predecessors. Reviewed well, and worth a buy for horror fans.
Outriders (-50%, $9.99) – Criminally underrated and one of Square’s non-JP games that worked. Loads of depth, awesome co-op experience and even has an endgame even if this isn’t a live service title.
The Evil Within 2 (-80%, $7.99) – Play Mikami’s — father of Resident Evil — last horror game.
Deathloop (-50%, $9.99) – Arkane’s best, second best, third best game depending on who you ask. Time bending mechanic that won’t make you hate the people behind it.
Outlast Trinity (-90%, $5.89) – Includes Outlast, Whistleblower and Outlast 2. Amazing horror experiences that doesn’t let you fight back which adds to the tension.
Star Wars Battlefront II (-75%, $9.99) – Not sure on playerbase now but does this look good. Lets you play Star Wars characters and use their powers to lay waste in multiplayer. No support but servers are still up. Underrated and was mauled by gamers given its MTX-heavy plans before it launched.
The Evil Within (-75%, $7.49) – Not Resident Evil but way harder and gorier than Mikami’s previous works.
Mass Effect Andromeda (-80%, $7.99) – Not played through this outside of the opening section. Not sure if they patched the funny faces out. This game sunk an entire franchise with just one game.
Mirror’s Edge Catalyst (-75%, $4.99) – First-person parkour game. Don’t play if you get dizzy easy. Made by DICE, and is probably the last game in the franchise.
SOMA (-90%, $2.99) – Super cheap for a horror game with awesome atmosphere and didn’t get the love it should have gotten at launch.
Infamous First Light (-50%, $7.49) – Even if old, rarely goes on sale. Standalone game to Infamous Second Son.
FIST (-60%, $11.99) – Play as a rabbit that kicks ass. China Hero Project that made it big.
Fort Solis (-30%, $20.99) – Horror game though don’t expect too much scares. Make sure to bring comfy sneakers since there’s loads of walking. Hey, if it worked for Kojima…
Amnesia Collection (-85%, $4.49) -Includes Dark Descent, A Machine for Pigs. Horror at a discount.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 (-62%, $15.19) – All eight Mega Man X games at a discounted price! If you dig the X games, this is a good pick up.
Zombie Army 4 (-90%, $4.99) – Third-person shooter by the Sniper Elite devs. Support has ended but this is an underrated multiplayer game.
Heavy Rain & Beyond Two Souls (-60%, $15.99) – If the killer of Heavy Rain hasn’t been spoiled for you, I recommend playing it. Not a bad deal, but just remember this is more of a narrative game like Supermassive’s titles.

Expect new stuff for Ultimate Team and more, which has been confirmed by EA.
Those seeing their Franchise data erased, it seems this is connected to the maintenance and you should see the data available again:
Looks like the madden leagues are up. They just gated. #madden25
For now, the last changelog released was for the patch released two weeks ago, though once EA releases the official patch notes in a few hours, we’ll add it to the article.
EA has released Madden 25 update 1.06 on last-gen platforms, and while this title update brings in new adjustments and other improvements, it seems to have deleted all the Franchise mode data for players affecting all platforms.

EA has not released the official patch notes just yet, though we’re expecting that to change within the day. Before that happens though, loads of players have taken to social media and forums to announce that their Franchise data has been deleted (yes, ALL of the data).
Here’s a thread on the Madden subreddit where multiple gamers chimed in:
There’s more of that but you get the gist. So far, EA has not said anything about the data just yet, though the game’s servers did go under for maintenance a few hours ago which could be the reason for the data missing.
Once the patch notes are out (no clue whether the last-gen and current-gen patch notes are the same) we’ll update the article with the info. There was a patch released two weeks ago, which you can read about here for the fixes implemented.

Ultra: Saw Launcher – Blasts ricocheting buzzsaws to effectively dominate any close-quarters space
New Weapons:
PP19 SMG – Stands apart from other SMGs in the game by focusing on damage and accuracy over movement speed and rate of fire, with the highest headshot-damage multiplier in the group. It boasts a large magazine, increased range, and a more consistent recoil pattern.
L86 LSW – Designed to allow runners to run, aim, and shoot faster, functioning almost as a middle ground between the AR and LMG classes. To balance out its boosted speed, the L86 deals less damage and carries fewer ammo than other LMGs it has the fastest time to kill in 30-45 meters.
SPAS-12 – A new semi-automatic shotgun, a combination of the AA-12 and the M8-70. It has the capability to one-shot kill, but can quickly finish the job with a second shot if the first one wasn’t enough
New Maps:
Waterfront (Available at S2 launch) – Inspired by the post-apocalyptic Hope County, Montana in Far Cry: New Dawn. Waterfront is big, holding both a skate park and music stage area, and favors long- to medium-range playstyles (sorry, SMGs).
Fixed an issue preventing some players from sliding after a jump if they selected the Hold option instead of Toggle for Crouch and Sprint in the Settings menu.
Corrected a control issue that stopped players from sprinting if they fired while quickly switching to ADS in mid-sprint.
Victims of melee attacks now suffer a movement penalty of half speed for a quarter of a second, exactly enough time to say, “Ow, hey!”
Updated the six Preset loadouts in the Loadout menu so they offer full sets of attachments for the primary and secondary weapons, along with devices that complement the primary weapon in each Preset. The goal of these new loadouts is to offer attachments that support each weapon’s strengths while also letting players experience a variety of attachments and devices.
Tuned Major and Daily Challenges.
Now when you complete a Major Challenge, the next one is automatically activated so you don’t need to select it yourself.
Fixed a weapons-progression glitch that wasn’t granting weapon XP points for kill assists.
Factions
Highwaymen
Straight out of Hope County 2035, the Highwaymen are cutthroat survivors with a high-octane attack style. They’re all about dealing maximum damage in a minimum amount of time, thanks to deployable assault turrets, speedy reload and rate-of-fire bonuses, and lethal makeshift tech like their signature saw-blade launchers, wielded with complete disregard for power-tool safety. Highwaymen fight for their comrades and their leaders, Mickey and Lou, and fully expect to go out in a blaze of gory glory.
GS-Kommando
GS-Kommando’s Active Defense System was kind of a pain to deploy in tight corners but now it’s not.
Players can now cancel their Active Defense System after deploying it, similar to how Libertad players can cancel El Remedio. Also fixed a bug that allowed the Active Defense System to shoot through soft cover.
Fixed a glitch preventing the Active Defense System from doing its job against enemy proximity mines.
Fixed a camera-resetting bug caused by running into GS-Kommando’s Shock Wire.
DedSec
Spiderbot deployment is no longer canceled if the deploying DedSec player immediately activates their ultra. Also, Spiderbot movement sounds have undergone a tune-up to address player complaints that the little facehuggers were getting the drop on them because they couldn’t hear them coming. To that end, we’ve increased the volume of Spiderbot footsteps, as well as the radius within which the footsteps are audible.
Decreased the duration of DedSec’s Lockout ultra from 25 seconds to 20 seconds.
Death no longer offers a release from DedSec’s Lockout ultra. Although the duration of Lockout has been reduced to 20 seconds, it now affects enemies who die and respawn during that period.
Fixed a glitch that was disabling DedSec’s Hijack ability after using it on moving devices such as the Incinerator Drone or Spiderbot.
Phantoms
Removed an exploit allowing some Phantom players to respawn with invincibility if they managed to trigger the AEGIS ultra moments before death.
Fixed the Phantoms’ Mag Barrier so it’s no longer impervious to the AEGIS’s electro-scattergun if hit anywhere except dead center.
Restored controller force feedback when blocking damage with the Blitz Shield. Also added sound effects to indicate when the Blitz Shield takes damage.
Libertad
The effective range of Libertad’s healthful BioVida Boost has increased to match its visual effect.
Libertad’s Médico Supremo soothing health mist no longer disperses in midair if players deploy it while landing from on high.
Fixed a bug locking Libertad players in a zoomed-in ADS state when deploying the Médico Supremo while using ADS.
In other Médico Supremo news, enemies no longer earn Ultra Cancel points for taking out the deploying player if the late player managed to complete deployment of Médico Supremo as their final heroic act.
The Cleaners’ Incinerator Drone and Phantoms’ Mag Barrier no longer launch facing the wrong direction when deployed under a bad network connection.
Maps
Waterfront
Run for the high ground in Season 2’s new Arena map, Waterfront. Storm surge has ravaged this seaside skatepark, where players can grind down adversaries or ollie up to the boat house for some close-quarters combat.
Mayday
The Mayday map has been removed from CTF Unranked mode playlists because it’s just not a well-balanced map for that mode.
Fixed various map-geometry issues that were leading to exploits, such as players standing in midair or seeing enemies through walls. Affected maps include Attica Heights, Clubhouse, Emporium, and Pueblito.
Tweaked objects in the Emporium and Times Square maps that were preventing GS-Kommando’s Active Defense System from deploying.
Game Modes
Bomb!
Two bombs and zero respawns define the high-stakes, fan-requested new game mode with the objective right in the name: Bomb! Attackers attempt to plant a Detonator on one of two Bombs stationed across the map and keep it ticking until the Bomb goes boom. Defenders try to stop attackers from planting it, or, failing that, they must defuse the Detonator. Attacker success or defender failure yields predictably explosive results.
Escort
Corrected a visual issue distorting the Package path on inclines and making the Package icon appear all jittery when viewed through walls.
Team Death Match
Team Death Match had overtime when matches ended in a tie, but it wasn’t supposed to, and now it doesn’t.
Team Death Match mode now has a Daily Challenge.
Capture The Flag
Completing a CTF session now counts toward earning the Grand Tour achievement.
XP scores for accomplishing Escort and Zone Control objectives have been doubled.
If you thought you weren’t earning Cleanse points for killing the last enemy in Domination, Occupy, or Zone Control, you thought right and it has been fixed.
Same goes for Checkpoint-assist points for helping push the Package in Escort.
As additional encouragement to finish matches, we’ve added Medal Challenges for completing Arena modes and completing Linear modes (both named “Complete Game”). These new medals bump up Battle Pass momentum by granting a lump sum of XP upon match completion, making player stick-to-itiveness the primary driver for Battle Pass progression.
Ranked
Season 2 also debuts Ranked Loadouts, a new loadout category with 10 slots. Ranked Loadouts allow players to create custom loadouts from all launch weapons, attachments, and devices in Ranked play even if they haven’t unlocked them. The tradeoff is that if a player selects a weapon for their loadout that they have not yet unlocked, they will receive no XP progression on that weapon. (Owned weapons will progress normally.) This system doesn’t apply to skins, faction characters, or any post-launch weapons/attachments/devices that players have not unlocked.
Corrected an issue in Ranked mode preventing PC keyboard users from confirming their pre-selected Ability if a teammate has the same faction pre-selected.
Ranked mode now uses the party’s average Ranked level to find new players (with the average weighted toward the highest-level player in the party).
Weapons
New for Season 2
PP-19: Despite its lower rate of fire, this heavy-hitting SMG is lethal if you can rein in its recoil.
SPAS-12: This semi-auto shotgun may have slow handling, but it packs a wallop when wielded up close.
L86: A quick reloader and among the most nimble of the LMGs thanks to its bullpup design (magazine behind the trigger), although its per-shot damage is on the low end.
Added the Extended Mag Tube, a shotgun-only attachment that increases ammo capacity.
Tweaks for Existing Weapons
M44: Players wielding the M44 sniper rifle can no longer aim down its sights before the weapon’s reload animation finishes.
686 Magnum: Removed a half-second-weapon-sway delay when switching to ADS after triggering the jump/crouch penalty.
M870: Corrected a timing issue on the M870 shotgun so spent shell casings eject when the slide is racked back rather than when the player fires, which is purely a cosmetic matter but, hey, it’s the little things.
MDR: Removed aiming obstructions when equipped with the Skeletonized cosmetic skin. Also, like to the M870 tweaks above, corrected some mechanical animations to match the real-life weapon: charging handle no longer reciprocates, and spent casings now eject toward the front of the weapon rather than the side.
Slight reduction in duration of the sniper hit-flinch penalty from .7s to .5s for the M44, L115, and TAC-50.
Tuned some barrel and muzzle attachments for balance. Here are the changes:
Muzzle Booster
Added short/medium range penalty of 12.5 percent.
Removed horizontal/vertical recoil penalty of 10 percent.
Added ADS speed penalty of 7.5 percent.
Rapid Fire Barrel
Added short/medium range penalty of 25 percent.
Removed horizontal/vertical recoil penalty of 20 percent.
Added ADS speed penalty of 15 percent.
Lightweight Barrel
Added short/medium range penalty of 10 percent.
Removed horizontal/vertical recoil penalty of 10 percent.
Reduced shakiness and other visually distorting issues while using a scope and crouching or spamming crouch in crouch-only areas.
Added a new Mastery skin, Pyroclastic, unlocked at Weapon Level 500 — but only if several other weapons in your arsenal have reached Weapon Level 400.
Reflex and Holographic optics now display enemy outlines as intended.
Fixed a slight aiming wobble caused by jumping while in ADS.
Eliminated a convoluted exploit in which players could bequeath the damage inflicted by a high-recoil, low rate-of-fire weapon (such as a sniper rifle) to a low-recoil, high-rate of fire secondary weapon if they swapped these weapons and fired moments before getting face-hugged by a Spiderbot. Kudos to anyone who figured out that exploit. Now kiss it bye-bye.
Devices
Fixed a glitch causing EMP grenades to disable conventional grenades (such as Frag and Sticky) if those grenades were deployed just as the EMP was about to activate.
Exploding Sticky grenades now damage enemies when you lob them onto ceilings.
Netcode
Improved an issue where dying players who squeezed off final shots at an enemy weren’t inflicting damage on that enemy (despite evidence to the contrary, such as hearing damage-inflicting sound effects and seeing crosshair-damage confirmation).
Social
Quick Chat is now in the game. This feature lets players select predefined messages from an icon-based Quick Chat menu (such as “group up” or “Attacking A”) and send them to teammates for lightning-quick comms.
Audio
We’ve made significant changes to footstep and clothing sound effects to address community concerns, starting with…
Balancing all enemy and ally footsteps to be at the same audio levels for sprinting, running (standard movement), and walking (moving while ADS). Crouch-walking is silent.
Improving the distances at which players can hear these sounds and how naturally they fade in and out with distance.
Improving SFX quality in general, such as footsteps increasing/decreasing with movement speed and sounding muffled on another floor or room.
The player’s own steps and clothing sounds have been reduced in volume. (Incidentally, all friendlies 180 degrees behind you are muted.)
Enabled text-to-speech in voice chat on Xbox platforms while fixing its volume setting on all platforms.
Tuned the conditions that trigger a “deathstreak” VO line (dying multiple subsequent times without killing an enemy player) from three deaths with a 30-second cooldown to four deaths with a 60-second cooldown.
Eliminated an issue causing low game volume when Windows Spatial sound is enabled.
Audio fixes, various.
Miscellaneous
Players can now skip intro videos when starting the game.
Added custom framerate-limit options for various features (gameplay, menus, and out-of-focus settings) to the Settings menu.
Corrected some graphical and interface weirdness related to PC players changing their window size while in Windowed mode.
Fixed 120hz graphics mode so it persists after reloading the game.
Eliminated a game-crashing bug occurring when Sticky grenades were deployed close to the Phantoms’ AEGIS shield.
Crash fixes, various.

Sucker Punch Production has just announced the long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei. To the surprise of many, it’ll feature an entirely new protagonist, which has left many wondering where in the world is Jin Sakai? Well, the quick and short answer, which isn’t a spoiler to the first game, is that he’s dead.
Will Jin Sakai Be in Ghost of Yotei?
For those wondering, the chances of Jin Sakai, the main protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, appearing in Ghost of Yotei are slim to none. Why? Well, because he’s dead, and no, not because of how things ended in the last game or because he somehow was killed off-screen. I mean, he could have been killed, but anyone paying attention to the settings of each game will know that the game took place during the Mongol invasion in 1274. Jin, during this time, was 30 years old, and by the time Ghost of Yotei (1603) is set to happen, he will be well over 300 years old.
Though the game looks similar to the first, this is an entirely different era in which it takes place, meaning the only time we’ll probably see or hear about Jin Sakai is from some legends or maybe a possible lineage.
Not only that, but Sucker Punch has also given a reason why they moved away from Jin for the sequel:
“We also wanted to continue to innovate. To create something fresh but familiar, we looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima, and shifted our focus to the idea of the Ghost instead. At Sucker Punch we love origin stories, and we wanted to explore what it could mean to have a new hero wearing a Ghost mask, and uncovering a new legend. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore.”
So, to help set some expectations early, don’t go in expecting Jin Sakai to make some random cameo appearance in the sequel. Unless he found the secret to eternal life, he’s long dead, either slain in combat or of old age.
