For Honor Update 2.53 Brings Sohei and Fighter Changes This July 25

Ubisoft has rolled out For Honor update 2.53 on all platforms, and this is for patch version 2.53.1, which introduces Sohei into the game, as well as a bunch of fighter changes. We have the full patch notes available below, so read on.

For Honor Update 2.53 Patch Notes for July 25:

Sohei Info:

For Honor’s newest Hero, the Sohei, is a towering Samurai who brings not one but seven weapons to the battlefield starting tomorrow, July 25. Inspired by depictions of the historical warrior-monk Benkei, the Sohei wields a Kama Yari polearm as his primary weapon, as well as a sickle, mallet, saw, club, pole fork, and sword. The Sohei is available July 25 for purchase and will be unlockable with 15,000 Steel two weeks after launch, and players can also compete to win the Sohei in the Photo Mode Sweepstakes by using the new Photo Mode feature – also available in For Honor starting July 25 – to capture in-game images of their customized Heroes.

IMPROVEMENT

FIGHTERS

BALANCING CHANGES

Orochi

  • Zephyr Slash is no longer enhanced, including on off-target opponents
  • Top Heavy Finisher now deals 30 damage (down from 32)
  • Side Heavy Finishers now have smaller weapon trajectories to better match their weapon
  • Heavy Finishers now have less forward movement
  • Chain Link Timing from Dust Devil to Heavy Finishers is now 100ms slower at a minimum

Dev Comment: Orochi has been overperforming at all levels of play. We’re addressing some of the most critical issues for the hero at the moment, and will keep an eye on the hero as players adapt to the changes.

We’re applying the change we made to Berserker’s side dodge attacks to Orochi as well, seeing as the experiment seems to have been successful at knocking down Berserker’s effectiveness in group fights.

We’re also addressing Orochi’s Heavy Finishers, which are some of his strongest points. We’re lowering the damage of the Top Heavy Finisher as it tends to overperform and is very easy to access, and we’re also lowering the trajectory size of the hero’s Side Heavy Finishers as they cover too much ground. On top of these changes, we’re also lowering the forward movement these moves have as they tend to cover too much ground and are too strong against external opponents.

Finally, we’re slowing down the chain link timing from Dust Devil to Heavy Finishers so that Orochi can no longer get a guaranteed Side Heavy Finisher on opponents when target swapping after a Dust Devil.

We’re keeping an eye on Orochi and will see where he ends up to address further issues should they pop up.

Warmonger

  • Preying Claw now can be performed from 100ms to 500ms after a Front Dodge (was 300ms to 500ms)

Dev Comment: We’ve done this change for Warden in the past, and it ended up being very successful with Warden at giving the hero a better way to open up opponents. Warmonger currently has a more difficult time opening up, and we’re making this change for the hero so enhance those capabilities.

Lawbringer

  • Top Heavy Opener now deals 23 damage (up from 20)
  • Zone Attack and Make Way now deal 16 damage (up from 15)
  • Impaling Riposte and Impaling Charge now deal 3 damage (up from 1)

Dev Comment: We’re adjusting a few of Lawbringer’s damage numbers to make the hero more effective in a few situations and to give back utility to some specific punishes. Zone Attack and Make Way dealing 16 damage puts them more in line with other similar attacks, and gives Lawbringer a slightly better Heavy Parry Punish.

The changes to Top Heavy opener and Impaling Riposte specifically are meant to address a situation where Lawbringer would always get less damage by using Impaling Riposte after a Light Parry and getting a wall splat than using Blind Justice. At 26 minimum damage right now this means that Lawbringer is not as disadvantaged when using this option in the kit.

Berserker

  • Chain Link timing between Zone Attack and Chained Light attack when buffered is now 266ms (was 100ms)

Dev Comment: Before this change, opponents had a single frame in which to time a parry attempt for the Chained Light attack after a Zone Attack. Now, the window to parry is more in-line with other heroes, and should give players a higher chance to parry the attack.

Varangian

  • Throws now wallsplat from 700ms to 1500ms (was 1000ms to 1500ms)

Dev comment: Varangian had an issue where if you were close to a wall, a throw would wallsplat too late and Varangian was not able to get their correct Heavy Attack punish on the opponent. With this change, it should always be guaranteed.

Jiang jun:

  • Can now enter Sifu’s Poise at the same timing as Dodge is allowed during recoveries on hit

Dev comment: With this change, Jiang Jun can now effectively use Sifu’s Poise then use Sifu’s Swirl to punish fast bash attempts. This should give the hero better defensive capabilities, especially in 1v1 scenarios.

PHOTO MODE

  • Added a Photo Mode in the barracks and in-game

Developer’s Comment:* A Photo Mode is now available in the Barracks’ Hero Overview and in-game (for solo content only). Photo Mode offers filters, frames and settings to edit the photo before saving it. It also offers, in-game only, two camera modes to move around to take the perfect shot.*

BUG FIXES

GENERAL

  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where Feinting on the last possible frame caused a Feint of next inputted attack FH-1836

FIGHTERS

Berserker

  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where Berserker’s Moveset Page showed incorrect properties on Head Slicer

Afeera

  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where Afeera would sometimes fail to play sounds

CUSTOMIZATION

  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue with Hitokiri Body Type 2’s Miyoshino Chest laces area FH-7353
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where paint patterns weren’t centered on Warden’s Corporis Chest FH-7323
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where paint patterns weren’t centered on Warden’s Radiavi Chest FH-7331
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue with Valkyrie’s Pra Chest incorrectly showing the upper part of the Fulla Chest FH-7284
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where color does not get applied on the upper portion of standards of Kyoshin’s Shisei Chest FH-7529
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue on Gladiator’s Acuminis Chest FH-7288
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue with paint patterns alignment on Lawbringer’s Magnanimus Helm

MAP

  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where Heroes could go out-of-world on Beachhead map at the wooden ramp to capture zone A
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed an issue where Heroes could die in Cathedral when running from capture zone C to capture zone B under certain conditions

That’s about. Once another update is released, expect MP1st to cover it.

Sea of Thieves Update 1.323.449 Sails Out for Season 13 This July 25

Sea of Thieves update 1.323.449 is now available for download on all platforms, and this is for the big Season 13 content drop! Read on for everything new in the official Sea of Thieves patch notes for July 25.

Sea of Thieves Update 1.323.449 for Season 13 Patch Notes:

THE FLAME RISES

Captain Flameheart has returned, but the real star of Season 13 is his fiery flagship, awaiting crews who have what it takes to claim it for themselves! For an overview of this new Season’s headline features, head to our dedicated Season 13 page.

THE BURNING BLADE

  • Ready your crew and take on the Burning Blade World Event! Easily spotted from afar with its telltale burning braziers and skyward beacon, this infernal ten-cannon warship will take a seasoned crew to take it on.
  • Players who subdue the ship’s Obsidian Skeleton crew can choose to pledge service to the notorious Captain Flameheart and take control of the Burning Blade for themselves. Once in control, the crew will be assisted by Flameheart’s skeletal followers and have access to its weaponry, including Obsidian Ashen Winds Skulls to help repel boarders and the devastating Ashen Roar fired from the bow of the ship.
  • Loyal Guardians can instead choose to completely sink the Burning Blade and claim its sizeable bounty from the wreckage. This includes the Blade of Souls, a fiery new melee weapon capable of setting foes ablaze!

SKELETON CAMPS

  • Flameheart’s forces have constructed Skeleton Camps across the Sea of Thieves, built over the Ancient Temples hidden below the surface. Crews can discover these camps naturally on islands or dive straight to them from the Quest Table.
  • Descending into an Ancient Temple, players must unravel the mysteries of the constellations by solving puzzles to unlock access to the Crypt Vault. There, those who oppose Flameheart can put a stop to the Ritual, snatch the Orb of Secrets and deliver it to the Trading Companies for a reward.
  • Crews who have pledged service to Captain Flameheart and taken command of the Burning Blade, however, should complete the Rituals within the Ancient Temples to gather the lost knowledge that Flameheart seeks.
  • As crews complete Rituals, Flameheart’s power grows, rewarding pledged pirates accordingly when they return the Burning Blade to him at The Reaper’s Hideout. Crews who instead destroy the Burning Blade and retrieve the Blade of Souls can sell it for a value depending on the Rituals performed before the ship was defeated!

COMMENDATIONS AND REWARDS

  • Crews choosing to side with the Pirate Lord and sink the Burning Blade will unlock access to items from the Obsidian Bone Crusher set, with ship parts, clothing items and weapons all available to earn.
  • Those instead choosing to pledge to Flameheart and sail the devastating Burning Blade will unlock the Burning Blade Reborn ship set, and Servants of the Flame who have already drunk from Flameheart’s chalice can unlock new skeleton cosmetics and bone colours when crewing the Burning Blade as skeletons.
  • Taking the Orbs from the Temples can unlock the Cracked Orb Lantern, and those seeking to steal the Orbs from unsuspecting crews can earn the Reaper’s Bones Shattered Mask.
  • Descending deep into the Ancient Temples below the Skeleton Camps to unravel their mysteries will unlock access to new tattoos for your troubles.

SEASON 13

Another Season means 100 new levels to climb by raising your Renown, with racks full of rewards to snag along the way – and an optional Plunder Pass adding even more. Emissaries aren’t forgotten either, with the latest Company-themed cosmetics for qualifying Ledger performances!

SEASON 13 REWARDS AND PLUNDER PASS

  • Progressing through the 100 levels of Renown in Season 13 will reward players with Bloodstone Dragon cosmetics alongside other time-limited Seasonal specials. Head to the Seasons profile page to browse the new rewards and check your pirate’s progress!
  • Pick up the latest Plunder Pass to gain access to a plethora of additional unlockable cosmetics from the Eclipse set, including a full ship set plus the Jacket, Hat and Gloves, all available to earn by raising your Renown. Purchase a Pass in-game through the Pirate Log or Pirate Emporium, or via the Pirate Emporium webpageMicrosoft StorePlayStation™Store or Steam Item Store.

SEASON 13 EMISSARY LEDGER REWARDS

  • This Season, the Guild Emissary Ledgers offer the ‘Secrets of the Ancient Flame’ Painting, Dark Hand of Fate Ornament and Guild of Fiery Spirits Title to Guilds who represent them well and perform proudly in the Ledgers.
  • The Trading Company Emissary Ledgers have been refreshed this month with the previously lost Pocket Watches. Players can therefore now earn the Tribute Peak, Relic of Darkness, Merchant Ambassador, Masked Renegade and Magpie’s Glory Pocket Watches when reaching the top tier of the Ledgers. Players who have previously unlocked all rewards within the Ledgers will find these new Pocket Watches already in their Equipment Chests!

CHEST OF FORTUNE

  • The Chest of Fortune has now been locked away in the belly of the Burning Blade, challenging crews to sink this formidable ship to claim its prize.
  • Crews who retrieve Chests of Fortune can now earn the next Grade of the Fortune’s Favour Commendation, unlocking access to the Fates of Fortune Fishing Rod, Shovel, Pocket Watch, Tankard and Speaking Trumpet.
  • An additional reward has been retroactively added to Grade II of the Fortune’s Favour Commendation, which now contains the Fates of Fortune Gloves. Players who already earned Grade II prior to this update will be able to purchase the gloves from the Outpost clothing shops straight away.

REAPER’S CHESTS

  • Crews chasing down the telltale beacon of the Reaper’s Chest or Reaper’s Bounty can earn the next Grade of the Reaper’s Riches Commendation, and start unlocking access to the Fates of Fortune Hurdy-Gurdy, Concertina and Scar.

PIRATE EMPORIUM

  • Cosmetics previously available during Season Six have arrived in Outpost shops and can now be yours in exchange for Doubloons!
  • Players can now purchase the Naval Commander clothing set, along with a range of unique one-off items that were available during this Season. Pirate Legends can also pick up Belle’s Hat and Stranger’s Cutlass.
  • The time-limited Dark Relics items, however, remain exclusive to players who participated in Season Six.

GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS

POST-DEFEAT SHIP SINKING

  • Once a ship is destroyed, the time taken for it to sink and release its cargo has been reduced, allowing the sunk crew to interact with the mermaid and head to their new location more quickly.
  • While each ship previously had a unique sinking time, this update brings them to consistently shorter post-defeat sinking times.

BONE CALLER SKELETON IMPROVEMENTS

  • Summoned Bone Caller Skeletons will no longer uncover players using a hide emote to hide in plain sight.
  • Players being chased by Bone Caller Skeletons will now be able to hide if they are able to lose line of sight and complete the hide emote before being found.
  • Players can now lure Bone Caller Skeletons to a location by firing a weapon and hiding again, causing the skeletons to patrol the location of the sound.

UPDATES

PLAYSTATION®5 ACTIVITIES

  • Before starting a Sea of Thieves session on PlayStation®5, players will now have access to two new Activities allowing them to make a headstart on their session. Players can select High Seas or Safer Seas from the control centre and be taken straight to Ship Selection in the front end.

VIEW PROFILE ON PLAYSTATION®5

  • Players on PlayStation®5 will now have the ability to view another player’s Network profile by selecting View Profile from within the Crew Management and Guild Menus.

FIXED ISSUES

  • Players can once again summon text chat after rebinding it to either the C key on the keyboard or R3 button on PlayStation®5.
  • Crews diving for an Hourglass battle as a Grade 1 Emissary, and earning enough following a win to skip straight to Grade 3, will now correctly progress Commendations that required Grade 2 status to unlock.

  • The Gold Hoarders Boots can now be found in the correct shop at Outposts.

  • The Twin Shot Target Commendation is now visible in the War Chest when progress has not yet been made.
  • Bone Caller Skeletons roaming a ship now offer a short grace period before attacking players returning from the Ferry of the Damned.

  • Players can now retrieve Deadlock Jailer Throwing Knives embedded in the environment without having throwing knives in their loadout.
  • When a charged shot is fired from a Double Barrel Pistol, the animation no longer shows the hammer being primed before reloading, allowing the weapon to now reload more quickly.

PLAYSTATION®5

  • When browsing Guild members on PS5®, players should no longer see other Guild members as anonymous.
  • Guild members playing on PS5® should now consistently display their PlayStation™Network Icon alongside their gamertag.
  • During a Faction Battle, crews on PS5® sailing out of bounds will now find their view desaturates as they leave the area, clearly indicating the danger.

VISUAL AND AUDIO

  • When a player boards a ship, the audio cue is now only heard around the vicinity of the ladder and not from further away.
  • Battle music during Faction Battles will now continue to be heard after a player has died and returned from the Ferry of the Damned.
  • Several wheels have been improved to prevent players’ hands from intersecting with the handles when turning.
  • Pigs caught in a Pig Crate will now appear at the correct size.
  • Transitioning from a Sleep or Sit Emote to any other emote now updates the camera zoom point correctly.
  • When wielding a pocket watch, players will now flick the watch open.
  • Improvements have been made to the blade textures of the Gold Leaf Cutlass.
  • Performing the Scrappy Weapon Pose Emote no longer causes players’ hands to intersect with throwing knives.
  • When a player is observed using a spyglass, the item should no longer intersect with their head when looking towards the ground.
  • The grog inside the Evening Tide Tankard now appears correctly.
  • The Legendary Spirit Pistol should now fire in line with the pistol’s centre point when aiming.
  • Larger pirates wearing the Paradise Garden Costume should now fit snugly without visible seams.
  • The colour of the Frozen Horizon Frigid Hair tips is now maintained when a headband is equipped.

USER INTERFACE

  • When attempting to invite players to a Guild, the invite menu should now consistently show all available friends.
  • After navigating from the Discover tab on the Quest Table, returning to the Discover tab will retain focus on the previously selected option.
  • Players diving to an encounter and receiving an extended wait in the Tunnels of the Damned will once again be shown notifications that the search is still in progress.

While the actual patch notes aren’t out yet, the studio did reveal the major additions incoming with the Season 2 patch.

Season 2: Mrs. Freeze Description:

For Season 2, we’re unveiling our next new addition to the Suicide Squad: Mrs. Freeze.

Victoria Frias is an ice-cold, self-sufficient survivalist who has watched her Elseworld turn to ice as Brainiac’s invasion took hold. By the time we meet her in Season 2, she has spent years as the last holdout of her dying planet, unwilling to leave her cryogenically frozen wife behind. But after being recruited by the Squad, she may have the chance to save her – and unleash icy hell.

Mrs. Freeze is bringing some much-needed expertise to the Squad in the form of her freeze tech. The primary way she utilizes her inventions is through her traversal, which incorporates a combination of ice-cool control and super-smooth sliding that makes for a fast paced, dynamic, and totally unique traversal kit.

Mrs. Freeze’s primary traversal ability is Ice Path. Whether used in the air or on the ground, this ability gives her complete freedom of movement. She can quickly slide around behind enemy shields to flank, dash straight into the fray, or even launch herself directly skywards, perfect for getting the drop on her targets. When her Ice Path has run dry, her secondary traversal ability, Loop-De-Loop, will get her moving. By jumping out of the loop at different times, Freeze can zoom in different directions: straight up for an aerial recon of the battlefield, straight forward to dash back into the fight, and straight down for a slam into the ground. Aerial Precision is her final ability, creating a mid-air ice platform for her to fire down on Brainiac’s forces. All of these abilities work together for a fluid, exciting style of traversal that’s easy to pick up, but hard to master.

Like other members of the Squad, Mrs. Freeze comes with three different playstyles that her Talents fit into, offering unique approaches to traversal and combat.

The Cooler playstyle enables her cryotech, turning her into an unstoppable tank with incredible crowd-controlling Freeze powers. With the Snowball Effect Talent, Melee kills will cause all enemies nearby to instantly freeze. This couples perfectly with Exothermic Transfer, which comes at the cost of causing Melee hits to remove the Freeze status from enemies but regenerating 25% Shield. These both work in tandem to create a frenetic style of tank play, with options for both crowd-control and raw damage.

The Physicist playstyle is all about making fundamental physics fundamentally physical with Talents that buff Melee, Shield Harvest, and Suicide Strikes. The Blunt Force Talent builds up 5% Suicide Strike resource from Melee hits, synergising perfectly with Temperature Drop which empowers her Suicide Strikes, causing Shields to drop for every player whenever she Suicide Strikes an enemy.

Finally, the Technician playstyle is all about gear. Be it her firearms or enhancing her Cryo Boots for better traversal, this playstyle will see Freeze running and gunning… or sliding and dividing. Bomb Cyclone causes her traversal attack, Powder Burn, to freeze enemies 50% of the time, while Defensive Potential instantly reloads her current firearm whenever she lands a Shield Harvest. The potential for combos and synergies within her Talents is enormous, so get out there and do some science!

How to Get Mrs. Freeze in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?

To recruit Mrs. Freeze to your Squad, you will need to complete a series of Incursions to locate her before she can be… persuaded to join. Elseworld missions will unlock in a specified order in Season 2, meaning once they have been completed and you have reached Episode Rank 25, you can fight against a new Brainiac and recruit her.

New Frozen Elseworld

One of the big additions in Season 2 is the new Frozen Elseworld to explore. You’ll find a few familiar sights: the Skull Ship in the sky and Brainiac’s forces are everywhere trying to take over… but this iced-over Elseworld is full of surprises once you break through the permafrost.

Season 2 New Gear

Killer Frost Infamy Set

Infamy sets based around the iconic DC Super-Villain, Killer Frost. Lore fans with long memories may remember her depiction in the Assault on Arkham movie. Her powers are derived from absorbing heat and projecting cold, so you can expect her gearset bonuses to channel that same flavour. From one extreme to another, the Killer Frost Infamy Gear relies on setting your enemies ablaze before unleashing the devastation of weaponized thermal shock that will see them shatter before your eyes.

Across the tiers, you’ll be building up Killer Frost’s signature Heat Absorption buff to empower your other abilities. Master these sets and you’ll find yourself pulling off huge damage with your traversal attacks, entering a sub-zero trance to watch your enemies drop, or getting up close and personal with brutal Suicide Strikes that have some serious 1-shot potential.

Firefly Notorious Gear

As for this season’s Notorious items, we’ve brought back an iconic DC Super-Villain with Firefly’s Pyromaniac weapon family. It’s available in three hot flavours: Assault Rifle, Shotgun, and SMG (Submachine Gun), and if you get your hands on one, you’ll burn your enemies to a crisp with each critical hit. Keep turning up the heat and you can switch to the devastating alternate firing mode, causing your freshly BBQ’d enemies to explode and take massive damage… Well done!

Golden Glider Notorious Gear

Our next Notorious weapon comes from one of The Flash’s coldest enemies: Golden Glider. He first took on the Fastest Man Alive in a revenge plot during DC Comics’ Silver Age, and Golden Glider’s background as a figure skater gave us the inspiration for one of our most elegant augments. Countering enemies gift wraps them with Astral Ribbons causing them to take increased damage for 10 seconds. Express delivery all the way to the afterlife.

Parasite Notorious Melee Weapons

We’re introducing a new family of Melee weapons courtesy of one of Superman’s longest-running enemies: Parasite. This gruesome, grafted gear deals increased Melee damage against Afflicted enemies. If they are unlucky enough to live, then the next Melee attack is really going to hurt. In this case, what doesn’t cure you, only makes it hurt more.

For some of the other incoming weapons planned for future updates and the new cosmetics, head on over here.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Update 1.41 Drops as Servers Go Down for Maintenance

Bandai Namco Entertainment has just begun rolling out Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Update 1.41 across all platforms, though for those trying to play online at the moment, the servers also happen to be down for some planned maintenance.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Update 1.41 Patch Notes

DBZ Xenoverse 2 Update 1.001.003 Version for PS5:

At the moment, Bandai has yet to release or acknowledge any update for the game. They did confirm, though, that the servers would be taken down, which just so happens to be during the time the patch dropped. Unfortunately, they didn’t specify exactly what the downtime was for.

The game servers are expected to be down for a full 8 hours, with the schedule available below.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Server Maintenance Schedule

  • 7/24 18:00 PDT | 7/25 3:00 CEST to 7/25 2:00 PDT | 7/25 11:00 CEST.

The update itself is a pretty sizable one, coming in between 4-7 GB, depending on your platform. As for what it contains, as mentioned before, Bandai has yet to release any patch notes. However, based on what we can see, the STP Medals are now available for purchase on storefronts. The available packages are as follows:

  • STP Medal x500 – $4.99
  • STP Medal x1,100 – $9.99
  • STP Medal x2300 – $19.99
  • STP Medal x3500 – $29.99
  • STP Medal x6000 – $49.99

According to the PlayStation Store’s description, STP Medals are an in-game currency that can be exchanged for various items at the Medal Shop in DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 and other locations.

We’ll probably assume that several new cosmetics and shop items have been added with this update, though we won’t know for sure until the servers come back online. Should Bandai release any official patch notes, we’ll update them above.

Concord Beta’s User Score and Player Reception Data Does Not Bode Well – Here’s a Breakdown of Everything

In case you didn’t know, Sony is entering the online hero shooter genre with Concord — the first game out of first-part developer Firewalk Studios. In the last two weeks, Concord was available to play in both closed and open betas on PS5 and PC. While a game’s beta reception is not the only barometer for a game’s success, it does give people an idea of the trend the game is leaning towards and, more importantly, what the people think of it so far.

For Concord’s beta weekends, I don’t think it’s farfetched to say that things are looking a bit bleak. Not only were there not a lot of people who jumped in (least on PC) to try the game for free, but even the user reviews that surfaced after don’t exactly show much positivity in terms of reception.

PlayStation Reviews (Early Access Beta)

 * Since there’s no viable way to track the number of players playing on PlayStation, we instead rely on the beta’s reception based on submitted user reviews on the storefront.

* Reviews come from users who either preordered, were subscribed to PlayStation Plus, or were invited via friend code.

* Users cannot freely submit a review without owning the product on the PlayStation Storefront. They can, however, submit a review without having played a specific title, as the only requirement is if the title is in the user’s library.

* Reviews could only be submitted when the beta was playable. Once the early access (and open access) beta ended, PlayStation disabled the ability to leave a rating, regardless of whether you did one or not.

By the end of the first beta, Concord had received 2,544 user votes from PlayStation 5 players. Despite our regional storefront being in North America, PlayStation marked the rating as global, which is verifiable when visiting the rating on other region storefronts. Here’s a breakdown of each amount of votes (rounded to the closest whole number) per rating:

  • Five Stars – 865 (34%) people said Concord was a five-star game.
  • Four Stars – 229 (9%) people said Concord was a four-star game.
  • Three Threes – 178 (7%) people said Concord was a three-star game.
  • Two Stars – 204 (8%) people said Concord was a two-star game.
  • One Star – 1068 (42%) people said Concord was a one-star game.

Looking at the preorder position on the PlayStation storefront, by the end of the early access, Concord had been PlayStation’s 23rd (digital deluxe edition) and 27th (standard) best-selling preorder in the United States. We did not keep track of the position before the beta to tell you whether or not it moved up or down the rankings.

PlayStation Reviews (Open Beta)

The second phase of the beta, which was open to everyone on PlayStation regardless of pre-order status, saw a significant movement in user-submitted reviews, adding nearly two times the number of reviews than the previous test. This is no surprise, considering open betas generally attract more players versus something locked behind a paywall. We can safely assume that the beta itself saw a massive influx of players, at least on PlayStation, during this second test, though those numbers are anyone’s guess.

Here’s a breakdown of the number of votes for each rating. Note that the sum comes out at 7280 instead of 7208, possibly bad math or possibly due to additional votes not tallied on the PlayStation Store’s total yet, as the rating that is listed on the main page is “outdated” in that you need to be able to rate the item to have it give an updated count. Since we can’t rate the title anymore, we are stuck with these numbers.

  • Five Stars – 2018 (28%) people said Concord was a five-star game.
  • Four Stars – 721 (10%) people said Concord was a four-star game.
  • Three Threes – 649 (9%) people said Concord was a three-star game.
  • Two Stars – 649 (9%) people said Concord was a two-star game.
  • One Star – 3244(45%) people said Concord was a one-star game.

PlayStation Pre-order Ranking

Regarding best sellers on the preorder list for the PlayStation Network, Concord’s Digital Deluxe Edition dropped 10 spots (33, previously 23) by the end of the open beta, with Concord’s Standard Edition dropping 15 spots (41, previously 26). Now, to be clear, most titles dropped in positioning over from last week on the best-selling preorder list. There are many factors and reasons why they did, but the biggest reason is the addition of all versions of EA FC 25 and all versions of Throne and Liberty Early Access Packs, accounting for five spots.

Still, when looking at all the positioning changes, the biggest winner was both the standard and deluxe editions of Earth Defense 6, each moving up seven spots in the ranking. That leap in preorder shouldn’t come as a surprise, since the game releases on July 25, and it’s common for a game to get an influx of sales days before release. On the other end, though, we have Concord, which had the most significant drop out of any titles moving down 10 and 15 spots for the Digital Deluxe and Standard Editions, respectively. It’s followed by The Casting of Frank Stone, with the Deluxe Edition dropping nine spots and the Standard Edition dropping 11 spots (ranked 48). Here’s a breakdown of the charts, which we recorded on the listed dates.

Concord’s PC Stats

Steam (Early Access Beta)

  • During the early access beta, Concord’s player count peaked at an estimated 1124 players. This was achieved on the same day (July 12) the early access beta launched.
  • The second day (July 13) of the beta peaked at an estimated 933 players (down 27% from the previous day), with the third day (July 14) peaking at 630 players (down 33% from the prior day and down 44% from the all-time high), and the last day (July 15) peaking at 339 (down 47% the previous day, down 70% from the all-time high)
  • When all four days’ concurrent peaks are added and averaged out, Concord saw 756 players daily (on average) during its four-day (July 12 to July 15) early access beta.

* Steam counts consist of players who either preordered or were invited via friend code (up to four additional players per invite)

* If we take the Epic Games Store into account (sadly, there are no public trackers,) giving the storefront a generous 60% (Steam is estimated to have 2-3 times more overall active users than Epic Games Store) of what the Steam count was, we estimate that there was between a peak of 1,500-2000 on PC on the first day. It’s unlikely the Epic Games Store player count matched or was significantly higher than the ones found on Steam based on available data of monthly active users each platform has provided (2021 Valve, Epic Games Store 2023). Consoles are typically the exception to that rule, where a game can perform significantly better than its PC counterpart and vice-versa.

Steam (Open Beta)

  • During the open beta, Concord’s player count peaked at an estimated 2363 players, which was achieved on the first day of the open beta (July 18).
  • The second day (July 19) saw a peak of 1608 players (down 32% from the previous day), with the third day (July 20) peaking at 1422 (down 22% from the day prior and down 40% from the all-time high) and the last day (July 21) saw a peak of 1080 players, down 24% from the prior day and down 54% from the all-time peak.
  • The average daily number of Steam players was 1618 players.

* On Steam, Concord has yet to break the top 100 best-selling titles. Per SteamDB, it has yet even to break the best 1000-selling games.

Take these numbers as you will, but personally, the Steam stats aren’t exactly what I would call stellar. Despite doubling its all-time peak from the early closed beta access and maintaining more players over the previous test, the numbers are relatively low for being an open beta. Of course, this may all change come release next month, though you would think there would be a much bigger turnout to at least suggest that would be the case.

Final Thoughts

Despite the low early numbers in the beta, it’s hard to gauge whether the game will be a hit out of the gate or miss its mark entirely. Of course, with the title being a live service game and all, there’s also the possibility that even if it doesn’t hit it out of the park at launch, it could gain a following just by the studio’s constant tweaks and listening to what players want. We’ve seen it happen countless times with the likes of Star Wars Battlefront 2, Battlefield 5, Rainbow Six Siege, and more. In short; if a game doesn’t carve out its own player base at launch, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s over, though that is an added mountain the studio has to climb and overcome if so.

The good thing about Concord is that it’s not an indie game; it has Sony money, which means Sony can pump money into it as long as they want. Of course, there’s also the possibility that the publisher decides to pull the plug on it fast and have Firewalk work on something else, but we’re hoping it doesn’t come to that.

At the end of the day, while no one asked for Sony to make a first-party hero shooter, at least the publisher is stretching its legs a bit. We already know Sony is at its top when it comes to single-player, narrative-driven games, and it doesn’t seem like the company is going to stop producing those kinds of games anytime soon. At least with Concord, we can see Sony trying to push for something “new,” and isn’t that worth striving for?

Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes: Following PC Release, “No Plans” for Console Versions Yet, Controller Support Being Looked Into

While EA just launched Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes on PC last week which featured improvements from its mobile version, it doesn’t seem like a console version is on the way anytime soon.

This was mentioned to us by Capital Games Producer Caley Roberts in a chat with MP1st about the game.

Q: Are there any plans to release on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, or last gen?

Roberts: We have no plans right now. We’re just trying to get us out to worldwide launch on our EA app. Who knows? We could see, as we move forward, there might be opportunities to move to those different devices. But right now we’re just looking at the PC version.

We also asked about the possibility having controller support of the PC version, and the studio can’t say for now.

Q: Will the PC version support controllers?

Roberts: We are not supporting controllers yet, but we are absolutely looking at a lot of the accessibility features, that are really important to our players.

We’re releasing disabled characters in our game, and we want to make sure that we support people, who might need to use controllers. We are looking at that for worldwide launch, but it will not be available in the early access build.

We’ll chalk that controller support to a maybe, then. Our full chat with Capital Games is going up this week, so stay tuned. To know more about Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes’ PC early access release, read on for our preview.

Respawn to Revert Some of the Planned Apex Legends Battle Pass Changes in Season 22 Amid Community Outcry

Earlier this month, Respawn announced that major changes were coming to the Apex Legends Battle Pass in Season 22, with the biggest takeaway here being that players won’t be able to purchase the Battle Pass with their earned Apex Coins, and will instead have to purchase it using real-world currency. As one might expect, that hasn’t been met with the warmest of welcomes by the player base.

Today, Respawn has announced that they are reverting that very change, though there’s still going to be two Battle Pass for each season. Read on for the announcement:

To Our Apex Community:

You’ve spoken, and we’ve listened. With the release of Season 22 we will restore the ability to get the Premium Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins. We recognize that we could have handled the Battle Pass changes better—that’s on us.

It’s our intention to improve the overall value and experience across our Battle Pass offerings. For a summary of the updated Battle Pass offerings starting with Season 22 Split 2 on September 17th, please check out the infographic. Here’s what we’d like you to know:

• With the launch of Season 22 on August 6th through Split 1, we want to give you an opportunity to get the Premium Battle Pass. You can unlock it by completing a series of simple in-game challenges.
· Starting with Split 2 on September 17th, you can get the Premium Battle Passes the same way as before: by using 950 Apex Coins. You’ll be able to earn enough Apex Coins via the Battle Pass to get future passes.
• The Battle Pass options now include better rewards—and with the re-tuned Battle Pass challenges, it’ll be faster to complete at only 60 levels.

Moving forward, we recognize that we need to be more timely, transparent, and consistent in our communications with you. Your priorities are our priorities: cheaters, game stability, and quality of life updates are top of mind. We need to get better and it’s why we’re acknowledging them here. As a next step, there are a number of improvements and game stability bug fixes coming in Season 22 that will be outlined in the Patch Notes dropping on August 5th.

Thank you again for all of your passion and time in Apex Legends, because we couldn’t do this without you.

The Apex Legends Team

This is, of course, good news, though one can say that a decision as anti-consumer as the one they wanted to do shouldn’t have even be greenlit in the first place. Still, a win is a win, right?

Let’s hope this is the last time Respawn tries something like this, lest they want to see the community abandon the game entirely/

In other Apex Legends news, the Void Reckoning event launched yesterday, which you can read about here.

Cody Rhodes (SpecGru)

Born into wrestling royalty as the son of the late WWE Hall of Famer “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes was destined for greatness. He honed his skills for years, capturing multiple titles in WWE from 2007 to 2016 by capturing two Intercontinental Championships and six WWE Tag Team Championships before departing to forge his own path.

But The American Nightmare refused to stay away, making a heroic return at WrestleMania 38 to answer Seth “Freakin” Rollins’s open challenge. Despite suffering a torn pectoral, Cody’s perseverance saw him defeat The Visionary twice, solidifying his status as one of the most tenacious and resilient competitors in the game. At WrestleMania XL, Cody achieved his destiny, dethroning Roman Reigns to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Boasting a dangerous arsenal and a tremendous knowledge of the squared circle, Rhodes battled everyone from Randy Orton to The Miz to Rey Mysterio and so many more. Now, this wrestling legacy carries his family name into battle. Blessed with an arsenal of punishing maneuvers and a psychotic level of toughness, The American Nightmare has arrived – underestimate him at your peril.

Rey Mysterio (SpecGru)

He stands only 5-foot-6 and barely weighs 175 pounds, but a lack of size hasn’t stopped the incomparable Rey Mysterio from achieving giant dreams in WWE, including capturing the WWE Championship, two World Heavyweight Championships, two Intercontinental Championships, three United States Championships, five WWE Tag Team Championships, three WWE Cruiserweight Championships, and outlasting 29 other Superstars to win the Royal Rumble Match as the No. 2 entrant.

Whether standing up to a dangerous giant like Kane or flying down from the top of a steel cage, the Ultimate Underdog is known for refusing to be intimidated inside the ring. Trained in the proud Mexican tradition of lucha libre before he was even old enough to drive, Rey Mysterio adopted his ring name in tribute to his uncle and hid his face under a mask as lucha custom dictates.

First establishing himself in the cruiserweight and tag team divisions, the Mexican Superstar soon proved that size doesn’t matter when he beat the odds to win the Royal Rumble Match in 2006. From there, Mysterio accomplished the inconceivable when he won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXII, becoming the smallest Superstar ever to hold that title.

With his revolutionary style, Mysterio overcame the odds to enjoy a championship career that is respected by fellow Superstars and the WWE Universe alike, making him one of the most well-known and beloved competitors of all time. Defy the odds and shatter expectations by joining the Master of the 619 as he brings his heart, determination, and an endless supply of high-impact aerial insanity to the warzone.

Ivan (KorTac)

A veteran Konni operative, Ivan Alexxeve was loyal to the people, and to the cause.

Ivan Alexxeve was the scariest man in the room. In his young and impressionable youth, Ivan spent time with his father in New York City, witnessing a world of espionage and deceit. He took some hard lessons back to Russia, where he carried on his family’s decorated military legacy in his own military career, climbing the ranks with sheer determination and physicality.

His distrust and dislike of the West eventually led him to the Konni Group, where he met and aligned himself with Makarov in the hopes of dismantling and disproving the West’s notion of being the most powerful military in the world.

While Ivan and Makarov shared the goal of the West’s defeat and Russia’s rise, they disagreed on the treatment of soldiers. Ivan understood loyalty to be a two-way street between commander and soldier, but misunderstood his own importance to Makarov.

When Ivan became frustrated at Makarov’s callous treatment of his soldiers, knowing firsthand what it’s like to be pushed and abused by your superiors for unimaginable results, Makarov watched Ivan’s loyalty falter… and he did not like what he saw.

For questioning his leader, and wasting time, Ivan was executed by Makarov at a Konni base in 2023.

Reconker BlackCell (KorTac)

Execute BlackCell orders without question, without hesitation, and without mercy.

Rhea Ripley (KorTac)
Rhea Ripley is a cold-blooded killer forged in the fires of brutal combat. This Aussie nightmare slashed her way through the ranks, dominating the Mae Young Classic and the inaugural NXT UK Women’s Championship Tournament.

The Nightmare’s list of accolades only grew as she reached the main roster. After an awe-inspiring showing during the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble Match, Ripley shocked the world by ending Asuka’s reign of terror in the Raw Women’s Championship Match at WrestleMania 37.

The ultra-aggressive and terrifyingly strong Aussie embraced her true self, and that spelled bad news for anyone who faced her, as she already had the physical goods to stand toe-to-toe with any Superstar in sports entertainment.

Now unleashed on the battlefield, Rhea Ripley embraces her role as an agent of torment and fear. Merciless, dominant, and seemingly unstoppable – this is the embodiment of a true Nightmare.

We’re happy with the current challenge but we wanted to create more gunfights around the nuke itself. We’ve noticed a lot of nukes were planted with few squads remaining and/or in final circles. That was never the intent and hopefully these timer reductions will keep the challenge difficult and make the ending more exciting!
