Microsoft Inks 10-Year Agreement to Bring Call of Duty to Nintendo With Full Feature and Content Parity

As regulators across the globe continue to scrutinize the Microsoft-Activision deal, Microsoft has signed a new 10-year binding legal agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty games to the Japanese gaming giant’s consoles with full feature, content, and release date parity. Both companies had previously committed to such an arrangement back in December, but the deal now being set in stone all but ensures that gamers will be able to fully enjoy the Call of Duty franchise on Nintendo hardware should the acquisition go through.

https://twitter.com/BradSmi/status/1627926790172811264?s=20

As announced by Vice Chairman and President of Microsoft Brad Smith, Microsoft has now signed a decade-long contract with Nintendo to bring Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty franchise to Nintendo consoles. Microsoft Gaming CEO and Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed in December that both companies had entered an agreement for this purpose, but the new legal contract apparently also stipulates that all Call of Duty titles that come to Nintendo’s consoles must release simultaneously with the Xbox editions, and must include all the features and content present in other editions of the games.

Microsoft and Nintendo have now negotiated and signed a binding 10-year legal agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo players – the same day as Xbox, with full feature and content parity – so they can experience Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation gamers enjoy Call of Duty. We are committed to providing long term equal access to Call of Duty to other gaming platforms, bringing more choice to more players and more competition to the gaming market.

The new agreement may well help Microsoft’s case in front of the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which provisionally found that the acquisition was likely to result in two substantial lessening of competition scenarios (SLCs) in the console hardware and cloud gaming markets. Stay tuned here at MP1st for all new information and updates concerning Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Generation Zero Update 1.35 Out for Big Changes This February 21

Avalanche Studios has released Generation Zero update 1.35 today for all platforms the big February patch. This includes new content and a ton of fixes. Check out the full Generation Zero February 21 patch notes below.

Generation Zero Update 1.35 Patch Notes | Generation Zero February 21 Update Patch Notes:

Greetings, Resistance Fighters!

In exactly 24 hours, at 10am CET on the 21st of February, we’re bringing you an update focused on fixing some long-standing problems as well as introducing some new additions that we believe you will enjoy!

First off, let’s not make you wait for this one longer than we have to:
The mission “A Wrench in the Works” has been fixed and can now be progressed normally.
This one took us a while to fix because we wanted to make sure that no follow-up issues would be created while attempting to repair the mission flow.
Thank you for your patience while we dealt with it!

Now, before we get into any more bug fixes, let’s talk about what’s new in the February update!

NEW COLLECTABLES – SAFE HOUSE HINTS

In each safe house, you will now be able to find photographs containing hints about the location of the next safe house to travel to. These were added to help players unlock respawn points on the map and aid the natural progression through the world. Plus, they’re super pretty to look at!
Gotta collect them all.

A NEW INTRODUCTION TO BASE BUILDING
In order to show off this awesome feature to new players and make sure they realize how viable and important it can be as an endgame activity, we’ve revamped the introduction mission for Base Building and Base Assault.
The new mission is called “Building Blocks” and can be picked up from the Warboard in the Vesslan Bunker. It guides players through the process of completing a Base Assault and subsequently, building their own first base.

Players who already completed the old intro mission, “Good News”, will not be able to play this new mission on the same world and will have to start a new world in order to experience it.

MORE FREE WEAPON SKINS!

Weapon skins were a highly requested feature and adding them enabled us to really have fun designing fresh looks for our ever growing array of guns and melee weapons.
At the same time, they allow players to express themselves through even more customization!
The feature was well received, the criticism we kept seeing the most was “There are not enough of them yet, give us more!” and we happily comply! The February update brings you 6 new free weapon skins for the Möller PP, Klaucke 17, Kpist, HK5, and the Brännboll bat!
They will automatically be added to the loot pool of your rivals, so get to clearing your map of them! Good luck on the hunt.

Here’s a look at the new skins:

Möller PP – Neon Grid Custom

Klaucke 17 – Copper Top Custom

M/46 “Kpist” SMG – Party Pop Dark

HP5 – Graffiti Resistance

Möller PP – Graffiti Resistance

Brännboll Bat – Graffiti Resistance

MORE SWAG FOR YOUR BUCK!

Since we released the Camo Weapon Skins Pack DLC, we’ve received a lot of feedback regarding its cost-to-content ratio. Since many of you felt like the amount of skins included in the pack didn’t justify its price, we decided to add five more skins to it!
Everyone who previously purchased the pack will see them added to their available weapon skins after downloading the update. Enjoy!

AG5 – Desert Camo

KVM59 – Flecktarn Urban

PVG90 – Naval Marine

AI-76 – Digital Forest

12G Pump-Action – Orange Venom Custom

MAIN MENU CAROUSEL REVAMP

The news carousel in the Main Menu has seen a substantial change to make it more visually appealing and easier to navigate. This was done to make sure you’re always up to date on the latest news!
You can open this more focused view by interacting with the existing news tab in the game’s main menu.
This is still a work in progress, we will continue to take in feedback and improve the presentation in coming updates.

IN-GAME DLC SHOWCASE

You can now see which DLC you own and which ones you’re yet to unlock directly from this new in-game screen! New DLC will get added to it automatically.

RETURN OF THE SEMLA EVENT

Those of you who have been playing GZ for a while will remember the previous Semla collection events on the occasion of Fettisdagen, or “Fat Tuesday”! You might know this special day as “Mardi Gras”. Because Fettisdagen is celebrated by eating the national “Semla” pastry here in Sweden, we’re bringing this special little treat to the world of Generation Zero for everyone to enjoy!

From the 21st to the 28th of February 2023, you’ll be able to loot Semla pastries from some locations in the game (where are baked goods normally made in a household?). Eating it will restore some HP to your character as well as give them a nice full stomach!
If you have your Avalanche Apex Connect account all set up, you’ll also find an extraordinary assignment with an extra special reward in your FMTel Reward Trunk during this time! It’s time to show everyone how much you like this creamy goodness. We hope you enjoy and share lots of screenshots of you having a fika (coffee and cake break) with your friends!

  • Increased performance while riding motorcycles. This is an ongoing process, more improvements will be made in the future!

  • Fixed an issue where machines would become unresponsive and invulnerable during coop sessions
  • [Community Reported] Fixed certain machines only dropping ammo for client players in multiplayer. This one was fixed thanks to Zesiir, our beloved Forum mod!
  • Fixed a bug where Firebird Tesla Spikes would only damage the player who initiated combat with the Firebird
  • Exhaust fumes of other players’ motorbikes are no longer invisible in multiplayer

UI

  • [Community Reported] Fixed a bug where selecting any other filter than “ALL” on the World map screen will hide safehouse icons when trying to respawn. Thank you, ArcAzrael!

  • Removed a terrain obstruction inside Mården bunker. Sorry diehards, you’ll have to find other ways to glitch yourself outside of the map again!
  • [Community Reported] Re-added the missing Relay Beacon at Skrankebol. Thanks to draco255!
  • Fixed several Points of Interest not being completable because of misplaced items inside the area

BALANCE LIVE WITH THE 10.2 UPDATE – FEBRUARY 21

      • Titan Basic attacks now hit multiple enemies in the area. This was in the 10.1 update was left off patch notes.
    • Elder Dryad (Green Buff Holder)
      • Special ability is that it will heal all other allied camps 20 health a second on top of 10 HP5. Does not heal himself.
    • Fire Giant
      • The center of the Fire Giant pit is now permanently impassable terrain that blocks ground placement for wards, but allows targeting for abilities and projectiles to pass over it
    • Pyromancer
      • Decreased initial spawn time from 10 minutes to 7 minutes
    • Mana Camp
      • Blue Buff Holder no longer summons spirit minions
    • Health Camp
      • Green Buff now also provides 10 MP5
    • Totem
      • Reduced the physical size of this NPC by 15%

Items
Nerfs

DRUID STONE (T1)
We have two clear categories of item nerfs today. The first is tank items, and is mostly focused around tank items that can deal damage. Druid Stone was too cheap for its stats, and Stone of Binding is seeing a noticeable decrease in the amount of Protections it can reduce. Contagion is getting a series of additional bug fixes as well as another damage nerf. As a Healing Reduction item it has two passives, and its new one was clearly overshadowing the rest of the item.
  • Cost increased from 600 to 650
    • The T2 and T3 items Upgrade cost was adjusted to keep their final cost unchanged by this T1 change

STONE OF BINDING
  • Decreased the Protection Debuff from 5+1 per level to 0+1 per level

CONTAGION
  • Decreased damage from 35 to 25
  • Fixed in earlier hotfix (already live)
    • Each player can now only have 1 damaging Contagion aura on them at a time
    • If a player with a damaging aura Hard Crowd Controls an enemy, the aura is now refreshed.
    • Damage Aura no longer ticks at CC Application time (0s), instead it ticks at 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s
  • Fixed an issue where a 5th pulse that did no damage would play
  • Known issue is persisting with this item of audio not playing on additional pulses if the damaging aura is refreshed. Also will occasionally play an extra visual FX pulse that does no damage (but significantly less frequently than before)

PROPHETIC CLOAK
Tanks are also getting some slight nerfs to their Protection stats. Prophetic Cloak is an exciting new item that rewards those who focus on stacking it, but the stats provided here were just too much. We are making the item a bit easier to stack, but decreasing the amount of protections the owner of the item gets upon evolution.
  • Decreased the Internal Cooldown from 10s to 8s
  • Fixed text to clarify the ICD and to state that the increase in protection stats on evolution is intended

EVOLVED PROPHETIC CLOAK
  • Decreased Physical Protection from 55 to 40
  • Decreased Magical Protection from 55 to 40

SIGIL OF THE OLD GUARD
Along with the Prophetic Cloak protections nerf we have some nerfs directly to Damage Mitigation items. These items have been showing up in builds recently and when all stacked together they can make the targets especially hard to kill. In many cases the target is also losing out on a lot of damage output, but we are moving quickly to bring the top end down on this as soon as possible. These two items are the primary sources of mitigations that are usually not built by Supports, and thus they will be the first target for nerfs.
  • Decreased Base Damage Mitigation from 5% to 3%
  • Decreased Damage Mitigation per stack from 4% to 3%
    • (Decreases total Damage Mitigation from 17% to 12%)
  • Decreased Healing per stack from 3% to 1% of your max health

BERSERKER’S SHIELD
  • Decreased Damage Mitigation on the passive effect from 10% to 5%

THE CRUSHER
The other realm being nerfed today are Assassin item, specifically ability-base bonus damage effects. Bluestone has been nerfed, but is still strong, especially when paired with items like The Crusher and Heartseeker that do bonus damage on hit. Crusher is seeing a slight shift in that with its Power and Damage nerfs comes a slight cost buff, while Heartseeker is seeing a strict nerf, especially toward targets with lower max HP values.
  • Decreased Cost 2700 to 2600
  • Decreased Physical Power from 55 to 50
  • Decreased Physical Power Scaling from 40% to 30% on the Passive

HEARTSEEKER
  • Decreased the Bonus Damage from 3% to 2% when the item owner has lower power

Buffs

HORN SHARD
We are keeping a close eye on shards and have seen a clear purpose for each of them since the nerf of Claw Shard. Horn Shard was considered the weakest or most niche by most players, but this was mostly due to its perception. The actual effect it was providing was twice as strong as the text stated, and those who picked up the item found it quite effective, although not clearly stronger than the other shards. For this reason we are keeping this powered-up effect and only fixed the text.
  • Fixed the text of this item to specify that it decreases CDR by 0.5s every 0.5s (3s total) – not every 1s as listed on 10.1 launch

QIN’S SAIS
There has been a lot of Hunter discussion on the timeline. The data shows them lagging a bit behind, but not as far off as the perceptions might lead you to believe. The nerfs to Assassins and Tanks combined with a few key hunter item buffs should be enough to move in the right direction. If more adjustment is needed in the future for this class we will certainly be open to that as we monitor the data and feedback closely. We are buffing Qin’s to give the non-crit builds or anti-tank builds a noticeable buff, as well as buffing the new Boomerang item to make for a better user experience and buff Crit builds.
  • Increased Attack Speed from 20% to 25%
  • Increased Bonus Damage against high max HP targets from 5% to 6%

BLADED BOOMERANG
  • Decreased Cost from 2600 to 2500
  • Increased Attack Speed from 15% to 20%
  • Decrease the offset from player of the buff drops to be 50% closer to the player
  • Fixed an issue where this item did not describe the stacking buff duration of 6s

CHRONOS’ PENDANT
Mages have been doing well, with the only complaint being item diversity. We will continue looking into that issue for future updates, so we only have one change for now. This small buff to Chronos’ Pendant introduces new CDR option to possibly shake up builds without overshadowing the buffs to Hunters, who need them more.
  • Increased Magical Power from 90 to 100

BRAWLER’S BEAT STICK
Assassins got nerfed overall, but this item felt too under tuned to leave alone. Its new passive is harder to use than many of the other Anti-Heal items and the cost felt like a huge barrier. These changes should give Assassins more flexibility with how they counter-build without overpowering them as a whole.
  • Decreased Cost from 2600 to 2500
  • Fixed Text to describe that the buff field lasts 10 seconds
  • Increased the base Power (Magical and Physical) of the buff field from 10 to 20

CLOAK (T1)
Finally we have an array of Warrior/Guardian items, most of which have been underused in the 10.1 Update. First, Tier 1 Cloak is getting cost buff to help better justify its lower stat value than Tier 1 Druid Stone. Then we see cost nerfs to Cannoneer’s Cuirass and Dawnbinger, to make them easier to build into, especially for supports. Finally we have some stat buffs for Absolution and Phalanx to help them better compete with the item’s with similar stats that are more popular.
  • Cost decreased from 650 to 600
  • The T2 and T3 items Upgrade cost was adjusted to keep their final cost unchanged by this T1 change

CANNONEER’S CUIRASS
  • Decreased Cost from 2250 to 2100

DAWNBRINGER BUFF
  • Decreased Cost from 2600 to 2400 gold

ABSOLUTION BUFF
  • Increased Magical Protections from 60 to 70
  • Increased Crowd Control Reduction from 10% to 20%

PHALANX
  • Increased Physical Protection from 55 to 60
  • Increased Health from 150 to 200

Gods

10.1 is still very fresh on the minds of most players, with many strategies and metas still evolving. We have some strong data to indicate a few outliers already. We have 2 clear nerfs to gods who have been overperforming, especially in ranked. As for buffs, we first want to remind players that the next update, 10.3, will be the first new season, and with it will come a huge list of god adjustments. For 10.2 we tried to identify some of the clearest underperformers from each class, except for Warriors who were consistently doing well.
AO KUANG NERF
This Magical Jungler has been crushing the queues. Some favorable meta shifts combined with some direct recent buffs have brought back Ao Kuang as the ranked stomp god that he was known to be back near his launch many years ago. We are nerfing the late game damage of his primary damaging ability to take down his top end.

WILD STORM
  • Decreased Magical Power Scaling from 50% to 40%
HE BO NERF
This flexible Mage is often thought of as a Jungler, but has been a top pick in Mid as well through SWC and 10.1. He Bo brings a lot of utility to a fight, so we are nerfing his damage both early game and late on his primary CC ability to even the odds against other Mages.

WATERSPOUT
  • Decreased Base Damage from 80/130/180/230/280 to 70/120/170/220/270
  • Decreased Magical Power Scaling from 65% to 60%
DISCORDIA BUFF
A few of these buffs might be a surprise, as they all had recent meta stints, but direct nerfs and meta shifts have left them in lower than expected spots. Discordia is the first of this set. With a well rounded kit that balances control, evasion, and damage, she never feels completely unplayable, but we could still see clear issues in her match data. We are buffing Erratic Behavior, which is a strong buff to her evasion as well as the rest of her kit because of its CDR-style effect. We are also adding more front-loaded burst damage to her Ultimate, which has been feeling especially weak lately.

ERRATIC BEHAVIOR
  • Decreased Cooldown from 15s to 13s at all ranks

GOLDEN APPLE OF DISCORD
  • Increased Base Damage on the initial hit from 100/125/150/175/200 to 125/150/175/200/225
  • Increased Magical Power Scaling on the initial hit from from 40% to 50%
GEB BUFF
We saw a lot of Geb after his Ultimate buff, but since then he has had multiple nerfs that lead to a noticeable drop. Geb has a better teamfight presence now, but he still struggles in the early game, so we are buffing Shockwave to make sure his lane partners are happy to have him there.

SHOCK WAVE
  • Increased Base Damage from 90/160/230/300/370 to 100/170/240/310/380
  • Decreased Cooldown from 15s to 14s
TSUKUYOMI BUFF
Super strong launches can often lead to heavily nerfed gods, and Tsukuyomi was one of the strongest. After such a high point initially, he had to be adjusted many times, which definitely had the intended effect. After watching him for a while, and seeing little resurgence even in the new meta, we finally feel comfortable applying some direct buffs to Tsukuyomi. A split of base damage and scaling damage increases across his abilities will bring him up across the board.

DARK MOON SHURIKEN
  • Increased Shuriken Damage from 75/125/175/225/275 to 85/135/185/235/285

PIERCING MOONLIGHT
  • Increased Physical Power Scaling per Dash hit from 45% to 50%
JING WEI BUFF
Oh hey, fam! Jing Wei’s value is often dependant on her passive and safety. Duo is a risky lane in 10.1 but Jing Wei still isnt present. The new speed buff out of base makes her passive slightly less of an advantage, but the goddess also struggles to clear well. We are buffing her primary damage ability to give her the firepower she needs to compete.

PERSISTENT GUST
  • Increased Damage Per Tick from 10/20/30/40/50 to 15/25/35/45/55
  • Decreased Cooldown from 12s to 12/11.5/11/10.5/10s
CHERNOBOG BUFF
Lurking in the shadows, this god is rarely seen. Chernobog’s kit bring a unique level of evasion to the hunter class, yet he still often struggles to find a place in various metagames. His mana costs have been identified as one possible thing holding him back, and we are also buffing his dash to help him maximize his most powerful combo plays and to keep him safe.

VICIOUS BARRAGE
  • Decreased Mana Cost from 60/65/70/75/80 to 50/55/60/65/70

INTO DARKNESS
  • Decreased Mana Cost from 70 to 50 at all ranks
  • Decreased Cooldown from 18/17/16/15/14s to 16/15.5/15/14.5/14s
NEW SKIN VOICE ACTORS
  • Martichoras: Tim Bick
  • Sir Snooze Kumbhkarna: Patrick Seitz
  • Teferi Chronos: Charlie Wes
  • Nicol Bolas Tiamat: Hunter Peterson
  • Vivien Reid Artemis: Jenelle Randall
  • The Wandering Emperor Mulan: Monique Shi
  • Nissa Revane Eset: Kaitlyn Robrock
  • Bumble Bee Jing Wei: Sara Secora

Fall Guys Update 1.20 Jumps Out for Lobby Size Changes This February 21

Mediatonic has released Fall Guys update 1.20 today for all platforms. This update will have some seasonal changes like lowering lobby sizes and a preview of the level editor. Check out the Fall Gus February 21 patch notes below.

Fall Guys Update 1.20 Patch Notes | Fall Guys February 21 Patch Notes:

FALL GUYS VAULTING

First though, let’s dive right into one of your biggest concerns at the moment, vaulting. Fall Guys has grown massively from our launch in August 2020 to where it is now in February 2023. Including new features such as events and crossplay, expanding to more platforms, new cosmetics such as Costumes and Emotes, and from the 25 Rounds that we launched with to 81 Rounds today. We want to keep delivering exciting new Fall Guys content for you, and to do that we have needed to evolve the way we work on it.

In November, we announced one of the ways we were going to do this was by limiting which Rounds were available within the game at any one time, a process known as ‘vaulting’. We did this because maintaining 81 Rounds and the hundreds of variants in every Season, split between Main Show, Side Shows, Limited Time Events, and Private Lobbies allowed too many bugs and errors to make their way into the game. At the size the game is now, to be able to achieve a good level of stability and content, we need to manage how much we are trying to ship and test in every update. So, vaulting select Rounds allows us to make ongoing updates to the game while still providing a regular rotation of your favourite Rounds.Vaulting will continue for the foreseeable future—and we will be sharing future updates on vaulted Rounds on our Fall Guys Server Owl channel.

FALL GUYS SEASON UPDATES

Level Editor

Fall Guys Creative, our very own level editor that we previewed at the end of our Big Announcement stream last year, will be a part of our next seasonal update. We can’t wait to see what bizarre maps and traps you create and are hard at work getting it ready to go! Season date to come soon.

Maximum Lobby Size

From February 21, maximum lobby sizes in the Main Show – Solos Playlist will be lowered from 60 players to 40 players. This will speed up matchmaking times, allow for more optimised performance in each Round, and mean more early level variety as more Rounds are available to play at the 40 player mark. It’s your best time yet to try for the Crown!

Returning Vaulted Rounds

With our next update, we’ll be refreshing our available Rounds once again. Some vaulted Rounds will be returning while others are heading to the vault. We’re still finalising which rounds will be available in our next Season but we will share a full list closer to launch day.

Season Length

Finally, Seasons will be a little longer from now on. This allows us to make more Rounds in Fall Guys Creative than we were shipping in previous seasons, and continue to make the pun-packed fun that keeps you all coming back to the Blunderdome.

We’ll welcome you all into the Blunderdome Construction Crew with open arms when the next Season of Fall Guys goes live!…..and expect more news on that to come soon!

Wild Hearts Update 1.004 Fixes Resolutions and More This Feb. 21 (Update)

Omega Force has pushed out Wild Hearts update 1.004 on all platforms, and this brings a bunch of fixes that touch on resolution issues and more. Check out the complete Wild Hearts Feb. 21 patch notes.

Wild Hearts Update 1.004 Patch Notes | Wild Hearts Feb. 21 Patch Notes:

Update: EA has posted a new blog post regarding today’s patch.

Good news, hunters! A patch has just been deployed to PC today that addresses the following issues, including fixes to address frame rate performance:

  • Fixed an issue where certain high-end CPUs were being unintentionally capped. High-end PC’s should see some performance improvements now.
  • Fixed an issue where some sounds were not playing or were being delayed, causing the audio to stack. This ‘audio stacking’ issue was also causing strain on players’ CPU. As a result of this fix, players should see performance improvements across the board. The workaround using 5.1/7.1 audio is no longer necessary on PC.
  • Setting default resolution to 16:9 1080p on first boot. The recommended spec for WILD HEARTS is aligned to a 16:9 1080p display, for first time users this will now be the default setting. You can change this setting to the resolution of your choice in-game.
  • Fixed render issue (disco lights) when using an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
  • Fixed an issue on the save/load screen that could result in corrupted save data.

In addition to that, EA mentioned that they are getting the audio and save/load fixes released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next week!

  • A CPU threading issue has been fixed. We are seeing significantly improved performance on high end PC’s.
  • AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX visual artefacts fixed. Also added the option to turn off reflections in the settings menu.
  • The default resolution when launching the game for the first time will now be 1080p. We discovered many users are running higher resolutions than the recommended spec can safely support. We are adjusting the recommended spec guidance online and will continue to optimize in this area. If you are running the game comfortably at higher resolutions, you can continue to do so and select alternate resolutions from the settings menu.
  • Additional stability and bug fixes
Additional issues tracked that will be fixed in a later patch:
  • A fix is being worked on for audio de-sync issues. For now, if you experience this, rebooting the game will often remedy the problem.
  • Rare PS5 crash when booting the game.

More by EA regarding the audio issues:

We thank you all for your patience and while you wait for a permanent fix, we have confirmed reports that in some cases, switching your “output settings” in the in-game Audio settings from Stereo to 71.ch/5.1ch  can yield performance improvements for some.

This workaround doesn’t work in all cases and players already running recommended spec at over 60fps are unlikely to see an improvement but while we investigate and work on the patch, please try it yourself and see if it improves performance for you.

Go check out our best settings guide for Wild Hearts right here, which includes a stuttering fix for PC! We also have a bunch of guides available for the game available here.

Fully-Leveled

Owned Characters Displayed in Packs

We have adjusted the display of the Purchase Character Pack screen to show if a character is in your possession or not. This text will be the same as that displayed on the Available Characters screen.

This will make it easier to confirm which characters in a Pack you already have.

Atomic Heart Best Settings Guide – Consoles, PC, DualSense Edge, and More

Looking for the best settings to play Atomic Heart on PC, consoles, and Steam Deck? Well, we got you covered! MP1st delivers an in-depth look at this Atomic Heart best settings guide that’s useful for both console and PC players!

Atomic Heart Best Settings:

Before we get into all the customizations, I wanted to first list down settings that are available across all platforms. This pertains to options that don’t relate to graphics and performance but more so accessibility, controls, audio, and such. These options will be available across all platforms unless specified: the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.

Audio

There isn’t a lot here, though if you’re a Streamer, you’ll be happy to know that Atomic Heart features a streamer mode under the audio tab. Enabling this will remove any potential third-party music that may get you de-monetized. With Atomic Heart being set in Russia, most of its third-party music comes from there. This is an easy way for anyone who’s not a native speaker to get a copy-right strike on their gameplay video, so we recommend turning on Streamer mode if you’re a Streamer or a let’s play Youtuber. However, fair warning, even with this turned on, we still manage to get caught up in third-party claims.

In this case, if you want to avoid any claims, you can just turn the music volume slider entirely down.

PS5 owners can also find the controller speaker option here if they want to use it or not.

Gameplay

Under the gameplay tab, you’ll find the motion blur and camera shake options. These are personal preferences, but we think at least you should turn motion blur off. Atomic Heart is a beautiful game, and motion blur during gameplay can sometimes be distracting.

We kept the camera shake at its default, though if you aren’t a fan of the camera bobbing up and down during gameplay, you can turn it off.

The must-have setting under the gameplay tab is the art subtitles. Because Atomic Heart takes place in Russia, the text you see in the game is native to the language. Changing the speaking language doesn’t change the assets, so if you want to understand what something is saying, you’ll need to turn subtitles on for the art. This makes text understandable.

Controls

Here’s what we recommend for settings under controls:

  • Controller Dead Zone – Having the dead zone low means you’ll have better responsiveness. While you can bring it down to zero in Atomic Heart, it appears that option is bugged (on PS5, at least), causing the menu to become unresponsive. Because of that, we suggest you set it at 0.05.
  • Hold Time – This is the time it takes to hold down a button for its action to register. The lowest it’ll go is 0.05, but we suggest setting it at 0.15. This will make the gameplay feel a tad faster when you interact with objects with “holding” action, but also not cause the weapon/inventory wheel to pop up when you want to skip dialogue.
  • Aim Assist – This should be on by default, and if it isn’t, for console players, we recommend this.
  • Auto-Aim – If you’re finding it hard to aim, turn this on as it’ll snap the crosshair to an enemy.

Adaptive Triggers (PS5 only) – By default, this is turned off. If you want to feel how guns handle, turn this on. We usually recommend having it on unless it’s a multiplayer game.

Use PlayStation Icons (PC Only) – If you’re using a PlayStation controller on a PC, you’ll want to enable this as by default the button icons are for Xbox. Changing them to PlayStation icons will help you know which buttons to press when prompted.

Atomic Heart Best Settings for Consoles

If you’re trying to search for either a performance or quality mode for Atomic Heart on the PS5 or Xbox Series, unfortunately, there are no options. The default mode appears to be a mix of performance and quality, as the game targets 60FPS at 4K resolution on both the PS5 and Xbox Series. There’s no ray-tracing mode either, as that is exclusive to PC. Console players will see a mix of screen-space reflections and pre-baked reflections.

Atomic Heart Best Settings for Dualsense Edge and Xbox Elite Controller

We aren’t going to get deep with all the customizations, such as dead zones, sensitivity, etc., but we did want to provide you with the ideal mapping for the back buttons. Atomic Heart has a ton of different mechanics when it comes to gameplay, and I found the default controller configuration annoying.

Specifically, the character’s ability is mapped to the top left bumper (L1 on PS5, LB on Xbox), and swapping skills is done by pressing up on the d-pad. We didn’t like taking our finger off the movement stick to switch our ability mid-combat, so using a controller with back buttons makes it feel better here.

What we did was map the ability action (L1, RB) to the left back button, with up on the D-pad mapped to the right back button. This allowed us to keep moving around during combat and seamlessly change abilities on the fly without taking a finger off another control.

Atomic Heart Best Settings for PC (Max Settings)

Graphics Settings (RTX 4090 GPU, AMD Ryzen 9 7900x CPU)

Running Atomic Heart (@4K res. 144FPS) with an RTX 4090 GPU and a Ryzen 9 7900x CPU, we found that our system was more than capable of handling the game at its top settings. So if you want to put everything to its max setting (minus ray-tracing,) then this pairing should be more than capable of running the game flawlessly.

So for this part, it would be easier to list what we didn’t have at max or enabled.

  • Motion blur – If you like it, then keep it on, otherwise, turn this off.
  • DLSS Super Resolution – Quality or Performance – Do you want a sharper image quality or better performance? If you plan to use DLSS, you can probably set this to quality. Do note we did notice some artifacts when we used DLSS on any of the presets it offered. If you do experience this, then use fidelity FX super-resolution instead.
  • DLSS Frame Generation – ON – If you’re experiencing screen tearing with this on, make sure you have forced free sync in the Nvidia control panel. You’ll also want to set Low latency mode to “Ultra” and Reflex to ”enabled+boost” for best latency.
  • Fidelity FX Super-Resolution – Quality or Performance – Same as DLSS Super Resolution. You can use AMD’s version if you find DLSS having issues, such as artifacts.
  • Nvidia Reflex – This option is forced on if you use DLSS Frame Generation, but if you don’t, turn this on for the lowest latency.
  • FPS – Atomic Heart supports frame rates of up to 300, though you should match what your monitor supports to avoid potential screen tearing issues.
  • Shader Cache – This will improve performance, but it’s recommended you have at least 12GB of Ram if you enable this option.

Otherwise, we’ve tested max (Ultra 4K) on everything. From our experience, outside the pre-rendered cutscenes (which are an issue on all platforms and across all graphical modes), the game runs relatively smoothly with little hitches here and there. Of course, playing on the max setting may not be ideal in the long run, but you can rest easy knowing that Atomic Heart is a well-optimized title on PC (and on consoles!)

The same maxed settings used in our RTX 4090 build also performed just as well on our RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and Intel 12700K builds. So there should be plenty of headroom for RTX 4090 users. That’s no surprise considering the RTX 3080 card is recommended to run the game at 4K ultra. For those on lower-end cards, the minimum to run Atomic Heart at 60FPS is GEFORCE GTX 1060 or a RADEON RX 580, with a minimum of 30FPS being GEFORCE GTX 960 or a RADEON R9 380. For additional PC specs recommendation for Atomic Heart, please see the official recommendation requirements for each mode here: Final Atomic Heart PC System Requirements Revealed

Your mileage may vary, so play around with the different presets and lower them when needed.

Ray Tracing Settings

**As of writing this guide, ray-tracing has yet to be available in the build we played. We’ll update this once we’ve had more time playing around with ray tracing**

Atomic Heart Best Settings for Steam Deck

Yes, Atomic Heart is indeed playable on the Steam Deck (requires 90GB of space) despite what the compatibility currently shows listed. We tested it out, and for handheld gaming, Atomic Heart plays decent on the Steam Deck. There will be FPS drops, but that comes at the cost of being handheld and having less power than a solid PC build.

We recommend setting everything to “Low,” as even with that preset, you’ll still see drops in performance. However, the low setting makes it make manageable. So for the Steam Deck, we recommend limiting the FPS on the hardware to either 30, or 45 for the best on-the-go playing experience. You can also run it at 60FPS here, but again expect drops.

DLSS isn’t supported on the Steam Deck, but AMD’s Fidelity FX Super-Resolution is. We don’t advise using this as any mode of it makes the game look far worse than it does without it. Comparison of it on and off using quality mode.

It looks worse when using any of the Fidelity FX Super-Resolution options. So don’t use this!

And that’s all we have for you! I hope this guide has helped you find the best experience to play Atomic Heart. If we missed a setting or you have a better suggestion, feel free to drop a comment below to let us know!
