DICE Acknowledges Concerns Over Battlefield 6 Server Browser; Believes Their Solution Will Answer Requests
While we already mentioned how Battlefield 6 will feature a server browser that’s now readily accessible on the main page, Battlefield fans clearly want something similar to how it was in past Battlefield titles.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), one DICE dev bravely asked the Battlefield community about server browser suggestions and also offered their opinion on it so far.
Battlefield 6, Server Browser, the Community and DICE
DICE producer Alexia Christofi has asked Battlefield fans what their reasons are for wanting a server browser. Based on the deluge of feedback they’ve gotten, Christofi has listed what they feel is the most important thing from the community about it:
- persistent servers
- a sense of community and a way to play together
- being able to choose specific maps/modes
- being able to filter by ping/server fullness
- support for low pop regions
Continuing with this conversation, Christofi mentioned, “I think our server (sic) browser solution answers all these wants. Yes, it’s via portal and shows community experiences, but these can award full XP, will be front and center in our main menu, not hidden – and will allow you to filter and search for specific things you want.”
However, they’re not closing the door on making changes. Christofi adds, “more to share on this in the future – but seeing all your replies I think what we have caters to the majority of use cases. We can talk more about if/why it feels like it’s not enough at a later date!”
Personally, I understand where the community is coming from, but in the grand scheme of things, this is a small thing to complain about given we’re getting just what we, as Battlefield fans, have asked for all these years.
Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and based on what DICE have said, do not expect any silly character skins to make its way into the game.
The open beta kicks off later this week, and you can learn more about it in our handy guide that mentions the start time, PC requirements, and more.
