Ghost of Tsushima Update 2.19 Slices Out for Support for Crossplay, Fixes XP Issues and More

After two years, Sucker Punch Productions has released a new patch for samurai action game, Ghost of Tsushima! While this doesn’t add new content, Ghost of Tsushima update 2.19 (PS5 version 2.019) does prep the game for crossplay with the PC version once it’s out this May 18 alongside other fixes.

Ghost of Tsushima Update 2.19 Patch Notes:

Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Update Version 2.019

Here’s what’s in today’s patch per Sucker Punch:

  • Adds initial support for crossplay services for the upcoming PC release
  • Fixes XP issue at rank 999 in Legends
  • Two-person teams having an extra player exploit fixed
  • Additional fixes

If the studio releases an official changelog on what bugs were fixed, we’ll update the article with the info.

In other Ghost of Tsushima news, the PC version is set for release this May 16, and it’ll even feature trophies!

Ghost of Tsushima was originally released back in July 2020, and has been a big success for Sony. Hopefully, this means a sequel is incoming at some point. If you’ve yet to play it or contemplating whether to get the PC version, go read my review of it here to see why this is the samurai action game you’ve been waiting for your entire life.

Diablo 4 Season 4 Loot Reborn Out May 14, Brings Item Updates and Here Are the Changes

This coming May 14, Blizzard is bringing the biggest patch for Diablo 4 with Season 4: Loot Reborn. Players can expect a host of item updates, a new system called Tempering and loads more. Curious how it’ll work out? Read on.

Diablo 4 Season 4 Loot Reborn Item Changes:

SEASON 4: LOOT REBORN
  • Itemization Updates: How players engage with items has been fundamentally changed to improve the existing itemization system. Base affixes have been reduced and are going to be simpler going forward. The goal is to make items easier for players to parse through and determine if they are useful, and the item can then be upgraded and customized to fit a specific build.
  • Tempering: A new system that allows players to customize gear that they find. To access Tempering, head to the blacksmith and choose a recipe to temper from. A random affix from that recipe will then be attached to the gear. Players will be able to find recipes from almost all of the content throughout Sanctuary.
  • Codex of Power: The Codex has received a big change based on feedback. Going forward every single legendary will be added to the Codex of Power to allow players to continually imprint the best version of that legendary onto your gear. No longer will players need to carry around aspect crystals in their inventory.
  • Greater Affixes: A new and rare type of affix will be available in the form of Greater Affixes and can be found on Ancestral drops in World Tier 4. These Greater Affixes roll bigger values than what is normally available for that affix.
  • Masterworking: Once a player has an item with all the affixes they want in it, they can go through the process to upgrade those affixes to even higher values. Once a player feels their build is complete and they have the best items, they can test themselves in the Pit.
  • The Pit: Players who have maximized their build can challenge this new end game system and unlock rare crafting materials to further masterwork their gear.
  • Helltides: Helltides are ramping up this season with a variety of new activities. Players will now encounter more cultists conjuring demons and doomsayers created from unfortunate people caught in the tide. Those that manage to survive long enough in the updated Helltides will face off against the Hellborn, former heroes of Sanctuary who have aligned with the demons of Hell. Take down these Hellborn to earn materials that will allow you to engage with Accursed Rituals.
  • Accursed Rituals: These are botched rituals from cultists that players can activate to draw in demons and monsters for an all-out battle. Survive the onslaught of demons and you will be paid a visit by the Blood Maiden, a brand new Helltide mini boss and the ultimate challenge in this new experience.
  • Iron Wolves: The Iron Wolves have taken up the fight against Hell and they seek the head of the Blood Maiden. Join up with them and progress through the Call of the Wolves Seasonal activities to earn honor. This honor will unlock access to rewards that empower your Seasonal Journey.
  • Livestream: On May 2, tune into another Developer Livestream where a few of our Diablo IV developers will dive into the learnings from the first Public Test Realm (PTR).

You can read more about each topic here.

Once the patch is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it and it will be posted in our Diablo 4 hub page.

Destiny 2 Update 3.24 for Version 7.3.6.3 Pushes for Adjustments This April 30

Destiny 2 update 3.24, which should show up for current-gen gamers as update 1.019, is now live, and this brings what Bungie calls patch version 7.3.6.3. There’s quite a lot of adjustments made ranging from activities, the Crucible and more.

Destiny 2 Update 3.24 Patch Notes for April 30:

Destiny 2 Update Version 1.119 | Destiny 2 Update 7.3.6.3 for PC

ACTIVITIES

CRUCIBLE

  • Special ammo meter system changes:
    • Unified all respawn mode ammo point reward values under the previous 3v3 respawn mode point values. (On average, it now requires less actions to earn the same amount of ammo.)
    • Ammo transmats (including the initial one at the start of the game) will now reward one kill’s worth of ammo, but the meter will charge slightly more than twice as fast.
    • Removed the ability for ability kills to contribute to the ammo meter.
    • Unified the point rewards into two distinct groups to reduce variability and make the system easier to understand.
      • New point reward values:
        • Respawn modes
          • Primary weapon kills: 50
          • Actions (includes assists, deaths, control zone captures, and Heavy ammo pulls): 25
        • Elimination Modes
          • Primary weapon kills: 70
          • Actions (includes assists, deaths, and Heavy ammo pulls): 35
    • An ammo transmat is rewarded when a player has accrued 100 points.
  • Increased preference for spawning near allies in Clash 3v3 for Competitive and Quickplay playlists.

ONSLAUGHT

  • Fixed an issue where Extinguish was not being cleared properly during a Tormentor heatwave.
  • Fixed an issue where larger enemies teleported behind the ADU.
  • Fixed an issue where ADU batteries could heal enemies when thrown.
    • Additionally, healing functionality when thrown at defenses has been increased.
  • Fixed an issue where players hide from enemies in a spot in the boss room.
    • No more cheese for you.
  • Fixed an issue in Legend difficulty where the portal to the boss room would not appear after wave 50.

EXOTIC MISSION

The Whisper

  • Fixed an issue with the spawning visual effect of Taken bosses.
  • Fixed an issue where players would not be kicked to orbit after the timer runs out.
  • Fixed some out-of-bounds spots

GAMEPLAY AND INVESTMENT

WEAPONS

  • Removed the red dot from the Tusk of the Boar Grenade Launcher when aiming down sights, as it was not supposed to have one.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented The Mountaintop’s projectiles from piercing barrier Champion shields.
  • The BRAVE versions of The Recluse and Hammerhead sights now correctly highlight enemies.

BOUNTIES AND PURSUITS

  • The Shaxx bounty to complete a pathway in Riven’s Lair will now correctly count The Coil.
  • Edited description for Breaking the Charge Triumph to make its requirement clearer.

GENERAL

  • Fixed an issue where the Pyramidic Vessel ship showed bright flashing lights in Orbit.

Don’t forget to check out this week’s reset of activities as well.

Xbox Games Showcase Set for June 9, Follow Up Show to Be About Call of Duty 2024

It seems the rumor from a few weeks ago were true, there is an Xbox Games Showcase planned for June 9 and it will air at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/1 am HKT!

This was announced by Microsoft where the company also teased that a [Redacted| Direct will follow it, which is totally not Call of Duty.

According to Microsoft, this will be similar to last year’s Showcase where they featured Starfield Direct immediately following the Xbox Showcase. This follow up show will offer a special deep-dive into “the next installment of a beloved franchise,” which again, might or might not be Call of Duty (wink wink).

What to expect? While Microsoft is saving its megaton announcements for the show, the company did stress that this will be the first Showcase featuring games from the mega corporation’s portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios. Third-party titles will also be present at the show.

Xbox Games Showcase 2024 Schedule and Livestream Links:

Airtime for the Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct in local time zones:

  • PT: June 9, 10am
  • ET: June 9, 1pm
  • BST: June 9, 6pm
  • CET: June 9, 7pm
  • JST: June 9, 2am
  • AEST: June 9, 3am

If there was any doubt that the following show will be about Call of Duty, just check out the logo provided here:

If rumors are true (which we firmly believe it is), then we should see a new franchise entry in Gears of War. Alongside that, we are expecting to see Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC make an appearance, and possibly a surprise or two.

Of course, the big question here is: how many of the games revealed will show up on competing platforms? I’d wager quite a lot since Microsoft seems to be turning away from console exclusivity in exchange for massive piles of money…and I don’t blame them.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Features the Master and Apprentice, Confirms 10 New Characters

Bandai Namco Entertainment has a new Dragon Ball Sparking Zero trailer today, and this one is titled “Master and Apprentice,” and we even get a confirmation of 10 new characters.

Any guesses who the master and the apprentice are? If you guessed Piccolo and Gohan, you’d be right, but they’re not the only ones featured in the video. Watch over two minutes of action from the upcoming Budokai Tenkaichi sequel to see how the action is shaping up.

For those keeping score, the trailer confirmed the following characters:

Gohan (Kid)
Gohan (Adult)
Gohan (Future)
Gohan (Future), Super Saiyan
Trunks (Sword)
Trunks (Sword), Super Saiyan
Videl
Beerus
Whis
Master Roshi

In another previous trailer that was released last month, it confirmed 11 characters as well. In addition to that, there were 24 characters confirmed way back in January, which gives us a running total of over 40 characters so far.

No word yet on when Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will be released, but it looks set for this year, and the platforms will be on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Players who had certain perks and mods on it did much higher damage than intended. We’ve fixed that bug, which has decreased the damage for that specific setup, but we made multiple tweaks and changes to buff it in different ways. Now, the Damage Over Time (DoT) should be a force to be reckoned with.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Update 1.17 Tunes Perks and More This April 30

Gun Interactive has pushed out The Texas Chain Saw Massacre update 1.17, which will show up as version 1.000.019 on current-gen platforms. This includes free Blackout cosmetics for those who reach level 99, as well as a bunch of perk tuning changes.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Update 1.17 Patch Notes for April 30:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre PS5 Update Version 1.000.019

  • Players will be able to purchase the Sissy Wildflower Outfit for $2.99 USD.

For players who have reached Level 99, we have our free Blackout Cosmetics releasing this day, as well. The Level 99 Blackout Cosmetic is an all black version of a characters base outfit with two exceptions, Virginia and Leatherface. Virginia will receive a Blackout Cosmetic in the future. Leatherface will not have an outfit; instead, he will have an all black chainsaw called Oil Slick. Players can expect future Leatherface cosmetics to be similar to that of Nicotero Leatherface. While the whole Family is the focus of our game, Leatherface is the figurehead and the face of the franchise. From the mask to the apron and every stitch between, his cosmetics should reflect that icon status, without altering the elements that make up the whole.

If you’re already at level 99, the Blackout cosmetics will be automatically unlocked for you after the update. Thank you for spending so much time in Muerto County with us!

Microsoft Account Linking

  • All players will need to sign in with a Microsoft account to play Sea of Thieves. When launching the game, players will be guided through the account linking process.
  • Be warned, account linking is a permanent decision, as players are only able to associate a single Microsoft account with a single account for PlayStation™Network. Only use the Microsoft account on which you intend to carry over your progress to launch!
  • Experienced players from other platforms who joined during the PlayStation®5 Closed Beta will have their pirate and all associated progress seamlessly transferred and accessible for play. Be sure to use the correct Microsoft account, as the two accounts chosen to be associated cannot be changed later.

Player Names and Online IDs

  • Once a Microsoft account is linked for Sea of Thieves play, all players will be displayed using their Microsoft account gamertag.
  • Players on PlayStation®5 can utilise the Recent Players List feature, located within the Game Options menu, to view the Microsoft account and linked online IDs of players on PlayStation™Network they encounter, as well as directly viewing their profile.

Inviting Friends into a Crew

  • When setting up a crew, players can use the PlayStation®5 Game Base to invite existing PlayStation friends using ‘Invite to Game’.
  • Players are also able to use the new in-game friends list, which consolidates friends from the linked Microsoft account and the account for PlayStation™Network into a single location for seamless crew management.

Cross-Platform Play

  • Cross-platform play is enabled by default, ensuring that all new players joining High Seas will find their home on the waves with other players from all walks of life. Players on PlayStation®5, however, can choose to disable crossplay from Matchmaking Settings and only matchmake with others on PlayStation™Network.

Performance on PlayStation®5

  • Sea of Thieves on PlayStation®5 is optimised to run at 60 FPS in 4K resolution, ensuring complete parity with Xbox Series X players.
  • Players can access an additional Performance Mode from the game settings for supported TVs, allowing for 120Hz refresh rates at 1080p resolution.

HDR Setup on PlayStation®5

  • New players on PlayStation®5 using a HDR-supported screen should perform HDR calibration when playing for the first time. Navigate to ‘HDR Calibration’ in Game Settings to configure your experience.

DualSense™ Wireless Controller Support

  • Hungry for haptic feedback? The DualSense™ wireless controller enhances the experience of movement and interactions with the world.
  • Adaptive triggers leveraging unique qualities of the controller heighten the gunplay experience, allowing players to feel every bullet they fire.
  • When a headset isn’t connected, the controller’s built-in microphone will serve as the default device for communication, granting all players access to in-game voice chat.

Voice Chat Notifications

  • When using in-game voice chat with crewmates or other players you meet in the world, the name of the broadcasting players will be shown within the HUD in a new indicator.

Player Moderation

  • Players now have access to the Player Blocking tool in the game’s settings. This allows a player to be blocked, resulting in them being restricted from communicating with you using in-game voice chat.
  • The Player Blocking tool also allows for easy management of your Blocked Players list.

THE WAR CHEST

New weapons waiting to be mastered and tools to take your tactics to the next level! Try your luck with fresh loadouts and feel the rush while riding the ziplines. To learn more about this new Season’s headline features, head over to our dedicated Season 12 page.

Throwing Knives

  • These new weapons in the pirate armoury come as a set of five, which are wielded one at a time when equipped and can be restocked from any Ammo Chest.
  • Wielding a throwing knife allows players to stab enemies with a quick melee attack or charge for a devastating downward strike.
  • Throwing a knife allows for a high-damage ranged attack. If a thrown knife misses its target, it becomes lodged in the environment and can be recovered to replenish stock. But be aware that another player can also retrieve your knife and use it against you!

Double Barrel Pistol

  • This new fast-firing weapon holds six bullets and can be fired twice before needing to be reloaded, or both barrels can be fired together by charging the shot.
  • Shots fired from the Double Barrel Pistol have reduced range and damage compared to the standard pistol, but compensate with a faster firing speed.

Scattershot

  • This new type of cannonball can be found in storage barrels across the seas, providing players with an effective short-range option for devastating enemy ships in combat.
  • Scattershot breaks apart when fired, sending four smaller projectiles in an outward spread. These have a lower trajectory than standard cannonballs, making scattershot a shorter-range option.
  • Each projectile deals light damage to the impact area, increasing if existing damage areas are hit repeatedly. Ship interaction points such as the wheel, mast and capstan can also be damaged by the blast, and players caught in the spread will receive light damage without knockback.

Bone Caller

  • This mystical throwable item possesses the power to summon a loyal skeleton crew who will attack nearby enemies. After a time, these skeletons will expire in a cloud of bones.
  • Bone Callers can also be fired from a cannon, giving players the ability to send a targeted package of disruption to rival ships at sea.
  • Bone Callers can be recovered from crates left behind by defeated Skeleton Fleets, or found in barrels at Skeleton Forts.

Horn of Fair Winds

  • This Siren shell is a treasure artefact that harnesses the power of the wind, and is discoverable in shipwrecks and other locations throughout the Sunken Kingdom.
  • Crews can use it to get ahead by filling their sails to full billow, giving a boost to a Rowboat or propelling themselves through the water.
  • Players can also harness the Horn’s powerful effects to knock back enemies, cushion a potentially fatal fall or even extinguish a blazing ship.

Harpoon Tightropes

  • Players firing a harpoon line into a rock, beach, tree or even another ship can now climb onto the line and perform a tightrope walk, maintaining their balance as they go.
  • Stepping onto a steeply descending harpoon line will allow players to slide effortlessly, even with treasure on their back!

Island Ziplines

  • Navigation has been further improved with the addition of ziplines to a range of islands across the Sea of Thieves. Seek out these permanent new structures to experiment with speedier traversal!

Updated Weapon Pose Emotes

  • With the introduction of the Double Barrel Pistol and throwing knives, previously released Weapon Pose Emotes have been updated to support the new weapon types.

Sea of Thieves Down for Server Maintenance and to Usher in PS5 Players This April 30

Those trying to set sail but their ships won’t move in Sea of Thieves, it’s not just you, as Rare has pulled the Sea of Thieves servers down for maintenance this April 30, and once the servers are back up, expect the PS5 players to jump ship as well (pun intended), and of course, the arrival of Season 12!

Sea of Thieves Down for Server Maintenance Schedule This April 30:

Here’s the announcement from Rare about today’s server outage:

“The Sea of Thieves servers are now offline for the arrival of both Season 12 and pirates on @PlayStation 5! Just give us some time to pop in and add those new weapons and tools, then we’ll let you get to it. Remember, there will be an update to download before you next set sail.”

While there is no mention of how long the servers will be out, it usually lasts for 4-7 hours, so don’t be surprised if servers take a fair bit before being live again at 7:20 am ET/4:20 am PT or 10:20 am ET/7:20 am PT.

Once we get an update on the server situation, we’ll be sure to amend the article with the proper info. Same as with the patch notes for Season 12, once it’s available, we’ll be sure to include a link to it in the article for convenience.

Payday 3 Update 1.000.025 Shoots Out This April 30, Here Are the Changes

Starbreeze Studios has pushed out Payday 3 update 1.000.025 during today’s server maintenance, and this should be for patch version 1.1.3, and this brings Quickplay into the game, being able to stay in a party after a match and more! Dive in below to see what’s new in the Payday 3 update for April 30.

Payday 3 Update 1.000.025 Patch Notes for April 30:

Payday 3 Update Version 1.1.3 Patch Notes (PC):

QUICKPLAY

This feature lets players join ongoing session, either in lobby or ongoing heists. This is our first iteration of quickplay and is a feature we hope to build on going forward.

For instance, what kind of filters beyond difficulty would you want? When should it be “too late” to join an ongoing game? When the escape made available or when half the loot is secured? These choices will affect regular matchmaking as well as quickplay, so let us know what you think!

POST-GAME PARTY-UP

To help players find like-minded heisters with whom to do crime, there will now be an option post-game to let players vote to stick together as a party. Any players who click will be partied up, after all, crime is better with friends

SKIP MISSION INTRO

You can now skip the intro fly-over, it’ll be skipped if all coop players or a single solo player vote to do so by pressing ‘escape’ on PC, ‘X’ on PS5 or ‘B’ on Xbox. We even added a settings option always to skip, should you prefer.

TOP CRASH CAUSES FIXED

We’ve made significant improvements to our backend, making sure that games should be more stable overall. We solved the top offenders causing servers to crash or matches to fail, around 90+% of server crashes and with this patch, around 70% of client (game) crashes.

The game should be a lot more stable going forward, thanks to everyone that chooses to report when those pesky crashes do happen, it really helps.

SHOCK GRENADE

We’ve mentioned this grenade both in its own blog post and a dev update video, so we’re probably tapped out on “shocking” puns.

This grenade will create a short-time shock effect on the ground, disabling any enemy caught within. The big metal shields of the Shield units, the battery packs of the Zappers, and all the high-tech gear of the Techie will react poorly when faced with the high-intensity electrical currents of the shock grenade, killing them all instantly – nice.

Unlock the Shock Grenade by reaching Infamy Level 39.

CRASHES

The last topic for today is maybe not as noticeable as a new grenade, but it is still worth talking about, and that is that we will be implementing fixes for the most commonly recurring crashes. About 98% of server/matchmaking crashes across all platforms were due to one of these root causes, which are now all fixed. Shoutouts to all the heisters out there submitting your crash reports, they help us identify and fix these issues and prevent them for the future.

ESCAPE VAN OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Back by popular demand, you can now again feel the warm embrace of the escape van’s luxurious (and bullet proof) interiors as you jump inside the back to hide from the storm of bullets aimed at your face.

UNIQUE ASSAULT RIFLE INSPECT ANIMATIONS

The KU-59, Northwest B-9, CAR-4 and VF-7S have each received their very own inspect animations as well as an animation improvement pass, so they should look a bit better when still and in motion. We’ll keep rolling these out as our animation team make them!

Todd Howard Has No Plans to Retire, Open to Other Studios Making Fallout Games

In a recent interview, Todd Howard touched on much of Bethesda’s process and plans following the recent success of the Fallout TV adaptation. He also emphasized his intention to continue making games and stated that he’s got no plans to retire as of right now.

In speaking with Kinda Funny Games earlier this afternoon, Howard was asked about his timeline and how much he has left to do. He made it clear he has no intentions to stop:

“I don’t want to ever stop. I just- y’know, it’s too much fun. I love the work, I love the products. If I didn’t make these games I would just be playing them all the time…. And, they do take a long time. So, I think one of the things that we’re focused on here is obviously making sure they’re of the highest quality, but also, y’know, finding ways to increase our output because we don’t want to wait that long either, right? It’s never our plan, but we want to make sure that we get it right. And so, my hope is to do it kind of as long as possible. I have no plans of retiring or anything like that.”

Howard was also asked about whether the studio wished they’d had another Fallout game ready to launch alongside the show:

Greg Miller: “You’ve seen the numbers of so many people jumping back [into Fallout]. Was there a ‘Damn, I wish we could’ve had Fallout 5, or Fallout: whatever, out alongside the show?’

Howard: “No, not necessarily. We’re always making plans. And we have, in some ways or another, five kind of separate teams within the studio. We move people between both the work we do on Fallout, the work we’re doing on Starfield. We have some stuff coming that we’re really excited for people to see.”

Perhaps the most interesting piece of news, however, was Howard admitting that the studio still regularly has conversations about allowing other studios to contribute to their franchises:

“We’ve always had those conversations [about external development]. We did a lot of things for the show. It might seem like, “hey, there isn’t a big new game out,” but we added content into 76 for the show. 76 has a really great map expansion that’s coming this summer with Skyline Valley.

We look at what we’re doing with the franchise and then we say ‘Do we still feel good about-‘ I can’t reveal it now, but, ‘here’s our runway for Fallout as a franchise. We’ve got a season two happening. What are we doing on mobile? What are we doing in 76? What are we doing with… this thing? What are we doing with… this other thing? When are these landing?’ And again, if I could snap my fingers and have them all be out and ready, I would, but the main thing is like, ‘alright, how do we deliver these at a high-quality level?’ That’s always most important.”

Now, obviously, this statement’s very nebulous, but it sounds like Todd’s implying that there are a couple of unannounced Fallout projects in the works over at Bethesda. Hopefully the recent success of the show spurs them to reveal and release those sooner than later, but we’re looking forward to whenever they end up unveiling them to the world.

Todd also touched on Starfield’s upcoming content in the interview, which you can check out here.
