New Overwatch 2 Hero Teased in Invasion Update Trailer

Overwatch 2 Invasion update is coming this August, and to get the hype levels up, Blizzard has released a trailer showcasing some of the update’s content, including story missions and what appears to be a new hero.

If you stayed till the end, you might have noticed a short tease for what appears to be a new hero coming to the Overwatch universe. We don’t know a whole lot about the new hero, other than that they’ll be fitting in a support role.

As for everything else coming with the Invasion update, here’s what we know via Xbox

Story Missions: The Rise of Null Sector

Humanity and Omnics, a race of sentient machines, have had a tense relationship since the Omnic Crisis, a global war that eventually led to the creation of Overwatch. Years later, Overwatch disbanded, and now the world is under new threats. When Null Sector begins their attack in Paris, Winston, Tracer, Mei, and a handful of other heroes are able to save the city from destruction; however, they soon realize that a global invasion has just begun.

The forces of Null Sector are bringing utter destruction to many cities and have a secondary motive to kidnap innocent Omnics for an unknown purpose. It will be up to the new Overwatch team to find out what their plans are and put a stop to them, but they’ll need help from both past allies and new faces alike if they hope to stand a chance. Team up with your friends or play with others online to take on three action-packed Story missions featuring many favorite heroes in Overwatch 2. Fight against the intensified forces of Null Sector and stay alert for challenging units, including the powerful Annihilators and the deadly Stalkers.

All New Co-op Events

In addition to Story Missions, you’ll be able to take part in a new bonus co-op mission on Kings Row. You’ll explore the King’s Row map, including all new areas not seen in PVP modes, as you guide the TS-1 push bot on a mission to save Tracer’s friend and the Omnic Underworld from Null Sector forces.

Turning Up the Competition with Flashpoint

Also launching in Overwatch 2: Invasionis Flashpoint, a whole new PVP core game mode that you’ll play in Quick Play or Competitive Play. This mode will feature two new locales, which are Overwatch 2’s biggest PVP maps to date!

Teams will fight for control of key positions across the map called “Flashpoints,” aiming to capture three of them before their opponents do. Things move fast – there won’t be any relaxing once a point is captured, as the next one is already waiting to be captured as well. Not only will this mode test your skills on the gamepad, but your ability to plan ahead and stop opponents from moving on to the next Flashpoint will be a huge key to victory.

New Ways to Master Your Skills

Whether you are brand new or a veteran player, we’re introducing new ways to play and practice your favorite heroes. Build up your skills with the all-new Hero Mastery mode, which features engaging training courses specifically designed for individual heroes. Each course will test your skills using that hero’s abilities and weapons and feature global leaderboards to showcase the top-performing hero masters across the world. Overwatch 2: Invasion will be launching our first courses for select heroes, with more to come in future seasons.

Also, the Practice Range gets its first major update with a brand-new firing range to hone your aim with any hero, including dozens of practice settings and multiple targets to choose from.

Unlock All Six Overwatch 2 Heroes with Game Pass Ultimate Perks!

If you are brand new to Overwatch 2, you’ll be able to jump right into the action with the Overwatch 2 New Heroes Starter Pack only with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks starting August 10. This bundle includes instant access to Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Ramattra, Lifeweaver, and our newest hero, which we’ll shine more light on another day. Each of these heroes will come with a Legendary skin and other in-game cosmetics.

Overwatch 2 Invasion will launch on August 10 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Reveals First In-Game Look at the Series’ Iconic City

After 20 years, Larian revisits the City of Baldur’s Gate as Baldur’s Gates 3 latest trailer gives us a sneak peek.

Showcased during today’s PC Gaming Show, below you’ll find an in-depth developer diary, as well as the first look at the iconic city of Baldur’s Gate.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – Returning to the City 20 Years Later

Yeah, that’s a pretty big upgrade from when we last were in the city, which comes as no surprise as the devs have explains the amount of effort they have put into it.

“We spent I think three times, four times more effort on the city than we originally planned to, but the result, the feeling of walking in there, is just fantastic,” said Vincke. “So the thing that I was the most afraid of when we started making this game turned out to be the thing that I’m the most proud of.”

“You have crowds that are walking around everywhere. You can talk to pretty much anybody, and they react to every single thing,” said Swen Vincke, creative director at Larian Studios. “It’s very alive in that sense.”

“One of the things that’s done is it’s added this level of believability and immersion and also complexity that wouldn’t have been there otherwise,” said associate writing lead Chrystal Ding. “It feels like you are walking around a place where there are lots and lots of people living their actual lives.”

I, for one, cannot wait to revisit this new next-gen reimagining of the city, and luckily that wait won’t be very long as the title is due to release this August 31 on PC and PS5. For PC players, you can already play the game via early access, though you may want to hold off if you’re looking to experience the whole game.

Xbox Goal Is 4 First-Party Games Released Per Year; Gaming Revenue Double of 360 Era

With today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft has revealed some of the exclusive games it’s set to roll out in the foreseeable future. Outside of Starfield, it looks like Microsoft is seeking to deliver more exclusive games per year from the company’s stable of first-party studios.

In a panel after the event, Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty revealed that Microsoft is looking to release four first-party games per year.

In addition to that, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has shared that gaming revenue is double what it was in the Xbox 360 era, and that they are expecting more than $1 billion in gaming revenue this year.

Those are very impressive numbers indeed. Let’s hope Microsoft can keep to that four first-party games released per year, since that will mean that Xbox gamers will be eating well annually. For now, the known first-party games left for 2023 are Forza Motorsport set for release this October 10, and Starfield which is set to take flight this September 6.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Announced for Early 2024; Watch the Very Naked Trailer Now

Making its debut during the Xbox Games 2023 Showcase, here’s our first look at Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (aka Yakuza 8.)

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Trailer Reveal

As you can see, the reveal trailer features a very naked Ichiban Kasuga, the star of the Like a Dragon series. And if you weren’t too distracted by it, you may have noticed that some characters were speaking in English while Ichiban spoke his native tongue. While there’s not a whole lot known about this new Yakuza iteration, these short lines of dialogue may hint that the series is finally visiting the West, and possibly Hawai if the palm trees and beaches are anything to go by.

We should learn more about Infinite Wealth later this week, as studio RGG is holding an event to discuss their upcoming titles.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released on the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. It’s currently targeting an early 2024 release.

Star Wars Outlaws First Story Details Revealed, Being Developed by 9 Studios; Gameplay Incoming June 12

Announced today, Star Wars Outlaws is the Star Wars game previously confirmed by Ubisoft to be cooking in-house with Massive Entertainment (The Division) at the helm. Outside of that, the first story details about it have been revealed by Ubisoft as well.

In the press release sent out, the studio announced that we’ll get to see gameplay footage of the upcoming Star Wars action game this June 12 during the Ubisoft Forward event. In addition to that, the first Star Wars Outlaws story details have been revealed too.

With development led by Massive Entertainment*, Star Wars Outlaws will invite players to experience the Star Wars galaxy like never before through an original story set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™ and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™. As the Galactic Empire relentlessly pursues the final defeat of the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld thrives. Fans will play as cunning scoundrel, Kay Vess, brought to life by Humberly González, and her loyal companion Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch™), as they attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. Seeking the means to start a new life, players will join Kay and Nix as they fight, steal, and outwit their way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates and join the galaxy’s most wanted.

Here’s what Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Massive, and Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games had this to say about the project:

“When we first imagined the first open-world Star Wars game, we explored where and when it could take place, and quickly realized that we had all the right ingredients for the journey of a scoundrel. These outlaws live life under the thumb of the Galactic Empire, but can still thrive given the opportunities that the criminal underworld opens up for people looking to take advantage of the turmoil. The time is ripe for a new outlaw to make their name, and Kay Vess is written in the stars.” – Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Massive

“With Star Wars Outlaws, we’re excited to deliver the first truly open world Star Wars game, with an action-adventure story filled with characters and planets both new and well-known to the Star Wars galaxy. We have been working closely with the talented team at Massive Entertainment, and with their years of experience in creating richly-detailed worlds, we’re excited for fans to be able to jump into the Star Wars scoundrel fantasy like never before.” – Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games

Lastly, Ubisoft has confirmed that there are nine studios collaborating with Massive Entertainment on this project, and they are: Ubisoft Annecy, Bucharest, Chengdu, Milan, Montpellier, Shanghai, Toronto and Paris.

Ubisoft Forward will take place this June 12 at 10:00am PDT/1 pm ET/1am HKT/ 7:00pm CEST and can be watched on YouTube (youtube.com/Ubisoft) or Twitch (twitch.tv/ubisoft).
