After giving fans a first look at the new PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset and confirming an early 2023 release, Sony has shared a hands-on experience with four PlayStation VR2 titles, including the immensely popular Resident Evil Village!

Sony also announced two new titles, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition and Demeo, for the PSVR2 during the September State of Play event.

Resident Evil Village PSVR2

Capcom‘s Resident Evil Village was revealed during June’s State of Play event to be coming to the PSVR2, along with a jaw-dropping teaser trailer. Sony has now shared more details about their experience with the PSVR2 version of the game, and the virtual reality experience makes the game’s atmosphere and sense of dread more immersive than ever before.

PSVR2’s 4K OLED displays heighten and accentuate the visual experience of the game, and the ability to personally engage with the combat and evasion mechanics allows players to truly put themselves in Ethan Winters’ terrified shoes. Capcom have confirmed that a demo of Resident Evil Village for the PSVR2 will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show 2022!

Horizon Call of the Mountain PSVR2

Horizon Call of the Mountain was confirmed at CES 2022 by Guerilla and Sony alongside the announcement of the PSVR2 itself as an exclusive title for the virtual reality headset. Accompanied by a trailer showing a scant few seconds of the breathtaking virtual reality experience, Horizon Call of the Mountain promised to create a unique, fully immersive experience set in the Horizon universe.

Sony’s hands-on experience with Horizon Call of the Mountain reveals that the game has stayed true to that promise, featuring gorgeous scalable landscapes, precise aim control using the PSVR2 Sense controllers, accurate haptic feedback to relay physical tension and weight, and an unintrusive HUD that presents itself as part of the players’ equipment.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution PSVR2

During June’s State of Play, the next chapter in The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners virtual reality survival horror saga, labeled “Chapter 2: Retribution,” was announced for both the original PSVR and PSVR2, along with a gruesome, gloomy announcement trailer. Chapter 2: Retribution will feature a new story campaign, a fresh set of weaponry, night expeditions, new enemies and bosses, and a number of improvements over the original, including changes in enemy design and behavior.

Modular holstering and realistic inventory management, accurate movement tracking and hitbox placement during combat, and an intense attention to detail in crowd control and even reload maneuvers allow players to fully express themselves in the bleak, terrifying world of The Walking Dead universe.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition PSVR2

During September’s State of Play event, Sony and ILMxLAB announced that a remake of 2020’s Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, titled “Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition,” is in development for the PSVR2 virtual reality headset.

The original Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is set on the Outer Rim planet Batuu, and follows a droid repair technician that crash-lands on Batuu. The virtual reality experience chooses to cinematically tells its story through exposition and interaction with in-game characters.

Sony’s hands-on experience with the remake reveals that the game stays true to the original’s essence while improving upon its visual and mechanical experience. Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition features improved graphics and lighting, a dynamic inventory management system mapped to the player’s body, immersive haptics and audio, and realistic interactive mechanics that let players surround themselves in the here-be-dragons bravado that the Star Wars franchise games are famous for.

Demeo, Full PSVR2 Games Lineup

During September’s State of Play event, Sony and Resolution Games revealed that Demeo, Resolution Games’ award-winning RPG dungeon crawler, will be coming to both PS5 and PSVR2 (as a virtual experience) in 2023! Both experiences will be part of a single purchase, letting players enjoy the virtual tabletop RPG experience whichever way they prefer.

Demeo on PS5 and PSVR2 will also support crossplay, allowing players across platforms to jump into sessions together seamlessly.

The current PSVR2 confirmed game lineup is now as follows:
