Battlefield 6 Beta Challenge Rewards Weapon Skin If Players Can Deal $1 Trillion Worth of Damage Over the Weekend

If you’ve played the Battlefield 6 open beta this past weekend or saw gameplay of it, chances are you’ve noticed how DICE has scaled up the destruction. Not only do walls crumble, but structures come crashing down with repeated explosives fired and more.

Publisher Electronic Arts has totaled the damage done, and according to the publisher, Battlefield 6 open beta players destroyed nearly $70 billion of in-game real estate and equipment!

Not only that, but the publisher has also announced a new challenge for players for this week’s incoming beta, and if completed, players will be rewarded a weapon skin that can be used once the game launches.

Battlefield 6 Beta Challenge Will Ask Players for Destruction Receipts

EA has announced “Destruction Receipts,” which tallies the chaos players unleash in the game.  According to EA, “the more chaos players unleash on the battlefield, the bigger their receipt tally. Each receipt itemizes destruction based on real-world figures down to the dollar, providing a concrete record of every shattered wall, demolished tank, destroyed jet, and leveled building.”

Players will have a new challenge to face starting Thursday, and will last throughout the weekend of the beta. If players break enough real estate, equipment and whatnot, and it totals $1 trillion, we’ll then be rewarded with the “Community Destruction Skin” for the M/60!

If you want to participate, players will need to post a 30-second destruction gameplay clip on X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram, and use the hashtag #BF6Receipts and tagging the official Battlefield X/IG accounts. The receipts will be available at EA’s destruction portal within 24 hours.

To help with the computation of damages made, Battlefield Studios have enlisted the help of Carlos Diemer, an architecture and engineering expert with more than 55 years of experience around the world (including in Cairo and Brooklyn), that will asses and calculate the real-world cost of Battlefield 6’s in-game destruction.

Hopefully, you’ll do your part for the cause, since I know I will. I’ll be jumping on a tank the first chance I get, and just lay waste to everything I see.

Speaking of destruction, DICE explained how the destruction damage works, and it’s not as straightforward as you think.

Battlefield 6’s next open beta will kick off on Thursday, August 14, and will last until the weekend. If it manages to attract as much players as the first open beta weekend, it could potentially break more records since it already broke Call of Duty’s all-time concurrent peak player count.

73% of Gamers Are Willing to Share Their Personal Data With Companies to Protect Against Cheaters

Cheating has been a persistent problem in nearly every genre of video game for years, with shooters being the most affected by exploits such as wallhacks, aimbots, and similar techniques, which provide players with unfair advantages.

High-profile games tend to attract those looking to exploit them — for example, just a day after its beta launch, Battlefield 6 already had cheaters, even though it uses an upgraded and enhanced version of the Javelin anti-cheat system.

80% of Gamers Face Cheaters, Many Ready to Quit

game cheaters

According to the PlaySafe ID platform, 80% of players regularly encounter cheaters, and many are even ready to quit their favorite games because of this issue.

The platform has published the results of its study “Gaming’s Cheating Crisis,” which surveyed more than 2,000 gamers from the UK and the US.

The research revealed serious consequences for game studios’ revenues: 55% of gamers have reduced or completely stopped spending on in-game purchases due to cheaters. Additionally, 42% of players have considered quitting the game entirely due to this issue.

This frustration has fueled a demand for change — 83% of respondents said they would be more likely to play a game that is credibly promoted as being cheat-free, 73% are willing to verify their identity to ensure fair play, and 79% believe cheaters should be punished across all games, not just the one where they were caught.

Ultimately, players see strict anti-cheat measures as essential to reducing cheating. What do you think about giving personal data to fight cheaters? Do you believe it will help? Let us know in the comments.

It’s because of cheaters that EA is mandating the use of Secure Boot on PC for Battlefield 6, which is something Activision is forcing as well if players want to load Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Helldivers 2 Crossover With Halo Teased

The developers of Helldivers 2 have released a new trailer ahead of the shooter’s upcoming launch on Xbox Series consoles, which will happen later this month.

Most of the trailer shows typical gameplay of the Helldivers: lots of shooting, explosions, destruction. But in the final part of the video, there is a teaser connected to Halo 3.

Helldivers 2 May Get Halo Content Later This Month

Helldivers 2 Halo

As spotted by Tom Warren on X (formerly Twitter), the ending features a drop pod landing in the middle of a rain-soaked city. The background music is taken from a track featured in the standalone expansion Halo 3: ODST. Since the Halo franchise belongs to Microsoft, and with Helldivers 2 releasing on Xbox, it’s safe to expect a collaboration with Halo. Previously, Helldivers 2 had a crossover with the Killzone franchise.

If that’s the case, the crossover might happen at the end of this month, as Helldivers 2 arrives on Xbox Series X/S on August 26. It would be a perfect opportunity for the developers to celebrate the game’s debut on the platform with Halo themed content.

Given that, the trailer does not show any new content. Based on past updates and the Killzone collaboration, players will likely receive the usual set: themed armor, capes, weapons, and more.

In other news, The Chinese Embassy praised Helldivers 2’s “Heart of Democracy” update for promoting global unity, as players from China, the US, and beyond join forces to defend cities like Shanghai from alien invasions.

Battlefield 6 Beta Pushes EA’s Stock to All-Time High

It looks like the Battlefield 6 hype is the real deal, and it has cascaded to publisher Electronic Arts’ stock surging on Monday, when trading opened. The publisher and parent company of DICE has seen its market capitalization rise thanks to the very positive reception the Battlefield 6 open beta has gotten from streamers, press and the general gaming public.

The Battlefield 6 open beta kicked off its first weekend trail on August 9, with the second beta weekend planned to start this Thursday, August 14.

EA Stocks Surge Thanks to Battlefield 6 Beta Hype

EA’s shares rose as much as 4.7%, the stock’s biggest increase since July 30, which pushed the price to $176.11 per share, bringing the video game publisher’s market capitalization to $41.94 billion.

According to Jefferies analyst James Heaney (via SeekingAlpha), “This weekend’s beta test for Battlefield 6 was a success for EA,” and added, “Importantly the server performance was stable, and the player reception screened positive.”

During the beta’s first full weekend, it managed to surpass Call of Duty’s all-time Steam concurrent player high, reaching over 500,000 players on Steam alone. The overall player number is surely higher, given that this doesn’t even factor in the player counts for the EA app launcher, Epic Games Store, the PS5, and Xbox Series X|S player bases. With news that a server browser is set to be tested soon, which is one of the most requested features from the community, more good news might be on EA’s horizon if player sentiment continues to go up.

The second beta weekend is kicking off later this week, adding a new map, new modes, and more. Players interested in trying it out, there are beta rewards you can earn for the full retail version when it launches in October.

Speaking of the beta, the publisher appears to have struck an unannounced marketing deal with PlayStation, as PS5 beta participants are not only getting double XP, but will also receive a PlayStation-exclusive beta reward at launch.

For those who played the beta, if you’re wondering why your enemies aren’t getting killed when you drop a building on them, DICE has explained why they changed it from Battlefield 3 and BF4.

Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The Division 2 Down for Maintenance and to Roll Out Patch Y7S1.3

Agents having issues logging in to The Division 2, it’s not just you. Ubisoft has taken the game’s servers down for maintenance on August 12, to usher in patch Y7S1.3.

Compared to past maintenance periods, this lasts longer than normal, which is most likely due to the patch being implemented.

For the list of fixes and schedule, head on below.

The Division 2 Downtime on Aug. 12 Schedule and Confirmed Fixes

Downtime begins: 9:30 AM CEST, 3:30 AM EDT, 12:30 AM PDT, 3:30 PM HKT

Expected duration: 5 hours

Compared to past maintenance periods that only last three hours, this one is extended to five, and don’t be surprised if it goes on much longer than that, which sometimes happens.

This extends the Summer Swarm Season Pass, so agents have more time to snag those rewards. There’s also a set of fixes included in the update per the official The Division Trello board.

The Division 2 Y7S1.3 Fixes

  • Fixed the issue in the Battle for Brooklyn DLC’s Art Museum mission where the recover intel loading sequence would not stop when a player in the loading area became unconscious.
  • Fixed the issue with the Oxidizer Chem Launcher Skill where killing an enemy while the Golden Bullet Global Event was active would refill the magazine to full.
  • Fixed the issue where the “Nutcracker Merit” Commendation couldn’t be completed.
  • Fixed the issue where the container would drop multiple times or appear already lowered before falling again when reaching the beat 5 objective in the Potomac Event Center mission.
  • Fixed the issue with communication collectibles not autoplaying after players completed a Scout to unlock them.
  • Fixed the issue with the “Switch Weapon” button in the Bundles category redirecting the player to the previously selected bundle on the PC platform.
  • Fixed the issue with the Silver Lining skin not matching its preview image when equipped on the AUG A3 Para XS.

That’s about it. No word yet on when we’ll finally hear about The Division 3. After its announcement two years ago, Ubisoft has remained silent about the sequel, though gamescom is looming so perhaps we’ll hear about it then.

We are getting a snow update at some point as teased by the developers, and chances are, it’ll be aimed for the holidays.

No, Battlefield 6 Is Not Forcing Players to Uninstall Valorant in Order to Play

Word on the street is that EA and DICE aren’t liking the fact that you’re playing another game outside of their own. While there might be some truth to that, what isn’t entirely true is the recent discovery made by players during the Battlefield 6 beta, where the game was prompting users to uninstall Valorant in order to play the beta.

It seems that people have been intentionally misled, as DICE and EA aren’t forcing you to uninstall another game. But why is it asking some users then? Well, there’s a good explanation, one that isn’t likely to be a growing issue in the future.

Before the misinformation spreads even further, read on for the technical explanation as to why this is happening.

Valorant and Battlefield 6 Don’t Play Well Together If You Try to Play Them at the Same Time

A few days ago, the Battlefield 6 subreddit saw a post from a user who claimed that Battlefield 6 was asking them to uninstall Valorant. While the wording of the message is factual, many have run with this as EA and DICE taking a shot at Riot Games, when the reality is, it’s Battlefield 6’s anti-cheat working as intended.

So what’s the deal with that message then? The answer is that this specific user was attempting to run both games simultaneously, but Battlefield 6 was unable to launch because Valorant was already utilizing the processes required by its anti-cheat system.

Sort of think about those times whenever someone brings up whether or not they should be running more than one antivirus on their PC. It’s fairly common knowledge that having more than one active process can lead to more issues, as the two will compete with each other to perform their intended tasks. Performance issues, crashes, and other oddities are things you’ll likely notice, and overall, it just doesn’t make sense to run two at once. On top of that, you’re taking resources away from your hardware, so unless you hate your CPU, it’s never wise to run more than one antivirus.

So why would anyone think it would be a good idea to run two games at once that each has kernel-level security? Specifically, security that requires access to the deepest levels of your operating system. The answer is, you wouldn’t. Battlefield 6’s anti-cheat software, like Valorant’s Vanguard, operates at the kernel level. When two kernel-level programs with similar functions are active simultaneously, they can conflict with each other, leading to system instability, crashes, and other errors.

But don’t take my word for it, take the word of Riot Games’ antichate, Phillip Koskinas:

And to confirm, I went ahead and installed Valorant on my PC. Battlefield 6’s open beta launched perfectly fine, up until the point that I decided to boot up Valorant. As expected, Battlefield 6 gave me this error.

It Won’t End Here

Unfortunately, with more and more games wanting secure boot and TPM 2.0 enabled, this error isn’t going to stop with Valorant and Battlefield. Eventually, you’ll see this become a widespread occurrence in multiplayer games, as more and more add the requirements. It’s a joke today, but tomorrow it’ll likely grow into a much bigger issue. Realistically, it shouldn’t be; once you stop a game, all of its processes should end with it, but that isn’t always the case with every game out there. Several titles tend to continue running in the background, even after you close them.

With anti-cheat software trying to gain deep access into gamers’ systems, you can sure as hell bet that this is going to be a problem down the road. There isn’t much we can do about this, as it seems to be the future of games. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, for example, has already been confirmed to be mandating secure boot and TPM 2.0 when it releases later this year.

It won’t be the last either, as more games will eventually start pushing for this as they continue their endless war against cheaters.

Embark Confirms No More Arc Raiders Tech Tests, as They Focus on Final Polishing Before Launch

Raiders hoping for one last tech test for Arc Raiders will be disappointed to learn that Embark Studio has no plans to do so, but for a good reason.

With a few short months left before release, the team has confirmed that it is putting all its focus on ensuring the game is polished and ready for its October release.

Arc Raiders Fans, Don’t Expect Any Big Surprises at gamescom

Taking to their socials (X and Discord), Embark Studios has confirmed that they will not be attending gamescom this year. It may not be the news players wanted to hear, but the team explained that the main reason is to use their remaining time to polish Arc Raiders. This announcement aims to set expectations, as they seek to avoid repeating the mistake made at Summer Game Fest, where many felt misled by the hype surrounding the event and the game.

To help avoid any potential confusion, Embark has confirmed that there will be no more tech tests or open betas before launch, and that you shouldn’t expect to see such an announcement during gamescom.

Embark states, “The team here in Stockholm is in full gear, getting ready for release on October 30! Our focus is now on polishing and expanding the experience, and putting all the learnings from TT2 into action ahead of release. Just so you know, we’re not planning additional public tests before launch. We’ve learned from our last announcement that it’s crucial to keep expectations in check, so we also want to be clear that we won’t be at Gamescom. But don’t worry, our launch campaign will kick off before you know it!”

A bit of a bummer on both fronts, but at least the studio is letting us know now rather than having us guess whether they’ll be at Gamescom or not. Still a bit of a bummer we won’t get to play a little bit before launch, but thankfully, the wait isn’t too long as Arc Raiders launches on October 30, 2025, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

In other Arc Raiders news, Embark has said they are looking to change the hatch mechanics, and that’s to increase tension.

Palworld Latest Update 1.077.287 Once Again Applies PS5 Save Data Fixes

Last month, Pocketpair released a Palworld patch that aimed to resolve PS5 save data issues once and for all. This has been a recurring issue for the game for several months now, and we hope that it can be fully resolved.

Today, a new Palworld update has been released as v0.6.5 , and this once again is aimed at PS5 save data issues. Players on PS5 will see it as Palworld update 1.077.287, and this is a small download.

Given the huge patch we got two weeks ago that added a different version of the Moon Lord Master, don’t expect this to be a huge patch.

Palworld PS5 Save Issues Targeted Again With Patch 1.077.287

Per Pocketpair, today’s patch includes the following:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue on PS5 where save data became unstable when playing multiplayer for extended periods under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where missions would unintentionally pop up when playing as the host in single player or co-op mode.

That’s it for today’s changelog. The last patch released before this applied a good chunk of fixes, which included balance adjustments such as:

  • Fixed an issue where the partner skill “Trigger Happy” had unintendedly high power.
  • Increased the drop rate of legendary blueprints from the chests at the end of the Terraria dungeon.
  • Adjusted the selling price of the Terraria monsters.
  • Added Heat Resistance Lv1 / Cold Resistance Lv1 to Hallowed Plate Mail.
  • Adjusted the breeding results when using Eye of Cthulhu.
  • Changed the raid boss reward logic so that players can receive rewards even if they didn’t deal direct damage to the boss.
  • Increased the drop quantity of “Ancient Civilization Parts” from certain Alpha Pals.
  • Increased the amount of Overheat Rifle ammo crafted from 5 to 10.
  • Increased swimming speed for some Pals.
  • Adjusted the map placement of certain mission NPCs so that they can be accessed by players at more appropriate levels.

For the complete list of changes made in that patch, which is more gameplay-focused, read the patch notes.

Battlefield 6 Destruction Damage and Why You Don’t Die at Every Falling Debris Explained

If you’ve played the Battlefield 6 beta this past weekend, you might have noticed how DICE seems to have upped the destruction. Buildings crumble, walls gets smashed and so on.

However, unlike in past Battlefield games, the walls crumbling or even buildings falling on enemies do not seem to kill them. What gives? Has DICE removed destruction-based damage? Is destruction just for show? The answer is no, but it’s a lot more complicated than that.

Yes, you can die from destruction in Battlefield 6, but DICE has intentionally made it different from Battlefield 3 and BF4.

Battlefield 6 Destruction Damage Explained by DICE

On X (formerly Twitter), former DICE developer Jaqub Ajmal commented that the destruction didn’t do any damage in the Battlefield 6 beta, and how DICE needed to add destruction 2.0 in the game in order to make destruction have more gameplay significance.

Answering Ajmal was none other than David Sirland, Lead Producer of the franchise, who explained, “It does do damage – just not instantly – because that is not fun and too random. Stay under rubble falling and youll see. Most for bigger parts. Will be tuned more too of course.”

This explains a lot, as I also wondered why I didn’t kill enemies that I swear were crushed by debris I caused using my RPG. While it was fun dropping slabs of concrete on enemies in Grand Bazaar in Battlefield 3, DICE’s reasoning for destruction damage not being instant does make sense from a gameplay-balancing perspective.

If you know someone who was wondering the same thing, now you know why the debris didn’t instantly kill enemies.

In other Battlefield 6 news, DICE has confirmed that server browser testing will be arriving soon, and we’re hoping that it’ll be in the second week of the beta, which kicks off this Thursday.

With the first beta weekend now over, we discussed which was better: the closed or open weapon playlist. Check out our thoughts about it and leave a comment to let us know yours.
