OPERATION MEDIC BAG: UPDATE #22 – CONSUMABLES
Hello, heisters! This is Miodrag “Mio” Kovačević, game director on PAYDAY 3, and today I’d like to talk to you about our upcoming consumable system.
The consumable system is fairly straightforward and slots naturally into existing gameplay; you start off the heist with an empty “consumable” slot that you can fill with First Aid Kits (FAK) or Armor Repair Kits (ARK). All heists have some amount of FAKs or ARKs you can find, and you can also get them from hostage trading, so it will be easy to stock up before and in-between assault waves.
You’ll now have the option to pick up any FAKs or ARKs you find, instead of just using them right away, letting you save them for more precarious situations. Once picked up, you can either use the consumable directly from your inventory, or deploy it for other players to use.
There are some limitations, though. You can’t mix and match consumables, so once you pick up a FAK, you can only pick up additional FAKs until your slot is empty again. You can also carry only up to 3 consumables, but once the system launches, one of the existing skills will be updated to let you increase this capacity by 2.
We are also looking into allowing different consumable capacities for different armor types (the heavier the armor, the more pockets…), but we sadly can’t guarantee that this will be in by the time the system launches. We’ll try to get it to you as soon as we can, though.
With this update, we hope that you’ll have fewer situations where you expose yourself to grab an armor repair kit, only to have your armor break in the process. It will also make scavenging maps more valuable, as well as having hostage trading feel more rewarding. You can expect this to come in the same update as our next DLC heist.
While we think of this as primarily a quality-of-life feature, it will definitely make players a bit more durable, and normal armor builds more practical. Right now, we’re not making changes to the difficulties to compensate for this, but we’ll be taking a closer look at the higher difficulties in our Year 2 of updates.
We will notify our readers when more patches are released.
While everyone thought Heihachi died in Tekken 7 from the hands of his son Kazuya, it seems we are all mistaken! Heihachi Mishima is alive and will be making his way to Tekken 8 this autumn!
This was revealed by Bandai Namco Entertainment at Evo Fighting Championships this weekend, where we also get the first trailer for the character.
Yeah, as one might expect, you really can’t kill anyone permanently in comics. movies and in games apparently. Not complaining since the character is my fave Tekken fighter.
Not familiar with how Heihachi died? Long story short: Kazuya fought him in Devil form in the mouth of a volcano, and once he was defeated, Kazuya threw Heihachi in the magma (seems familiar?), while reciting the words Heihachi had taught Kazuya to live by which was “All that matters is who’s left standing, nothing else.”
Alongside the Heihachi annoucement, Bandai Namco also revealed that the Tekken World Tour Finals 2024 will be held from Dec. 5 to Dec., 8 in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan!
Once we know more details about Heichai, we’ll let our readers know. Don’t forget, Lidia is entering the Tekken 8 roster this week, which will be accompanied by a patch.
In case you didn’t know, a guest character from another fighting game franchise is about to enter the Street Fighter 6 ring, and it’s none other than Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard! While there’s no release date for the fighter, Capcom has mentioned “Autumn 2024” as the launch window.
This was revealed in a new teaser trailer for the character where we get to see his trademarked “bare-knuckle” special move.
Feasting for a new adventure, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury will power his way to victory when he arrives in Street Fighter 6 this autumn.
Terry can be purchased individually with Fighter Coins and the owners of the Year 2 Character Pass / Ultimate Pass will automatically get access to Terry when he releases.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Terry will tangle with the Street Fighter roster, as the character also appear in Capcom vs. SNK, and SNK vs. Capcom. Speaking of which, SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos has been re-released this weekend in case you didn’t know.
Capcom has released Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess update 1.11 (PS5 version 1.011) on all platforms this July 22, and this is the game’s first post-release patch. Note that don’t expect any new content from this outside of fixes.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess Update 1.11 Patch Notes | Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess Update 1.011 Patch Notes:
“Exit” has been added to the in-game pause menu, allowing you to close the game.
All Platforms
A function to change some game effects have been added to the Accessibility tab in the Options menu.
Other minor bugs have been added.
Oddly enough, Capcom has not revealed anything about the game just yet. On the PS4 version’s update history, it says the following:
– Miscellaneous bug fixes have been made.
Note that this is usually placeholder text used in almost every game. Both the official English and JP Twitter accounts of the game have not acknowledged the title update just yet.
Hopefully, this fixes the crashing issues that has affected gamers since launch.
Here’s a brief overview of what the game is about per Capcom:
Using a day/night cycle and creatively blending multiple gameplay genres from action adventure to real-time strategy to tower defense , Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will test players’ strategic and real-time decision-making abilities. During the day, you’ll explore the village, purify the “defiled” villagers, assign those villagers various roles, and choose where to place them in order to best protect the Maiden Yoshiro. During the night, the sinister Seethe emerge to attack the mountain. Upgrade villager roles to get yourself more support and issue commands to the villagers while fighting alongside them to defeat the Seethe and purify each village. Players can freely reset upgrades and redistribute them to other roles, and even upgrade Soh with new attacks and abilities in order to customize their strategies however they want.
Once we know more about the patch (be it from Capcom or the community), we’ll update the article.

While there’s a ton of risks in releasing a video game these days, it seems another factor has been added into the equation, and that’s review bombing…at least according to Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two Interactive.
Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, 2K Games and more, has added “negative review campaigns” to the lists of risks that could impact their success in the company’s 2024 10K annual filing to stockholders. According to Take-Two, review bombing may “lead to loss of players and revenues, additional advertising and marketing costs, and reputation harm.”
Furthermore, obtaining and maintaining high ratings of our games on the third-party platforms on which we operate are important as they help drive players to find our games. If the ratings of any of our games decline or if we receive significant negative reviews that result in a decrease in our ratings, our games could be more difficult for players to find or recommend. In addition, we may be subject to negative review campaigns or defamation campaigns intended to harm our ratings. Any such decline may lead to loss of players and revenues, additional advertising and marketing costs, and reputation harm.
Can’t say I disagree with that sentiment. Of course, a game getting review bombed doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad game, as gamers sometimes review bomb a game as a sign of protest be it for that particular game, or the studio or publisher associated with it. Take-Two isn’t immune to being review bombed, as the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remastered: Definite Edition was review bombed by gamers after being released with a litany of technical issues.
Another game that recently got review bombed was Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2, and this time, it’s not because of the game’s quality, but rather, due to Sony’s PSN account mandate.
While the chances of Grand Theft Auto 6 being review bombed is quite slim, stranger things have happened, though I honestly doubt even a review bombing could stop the GTA freight train from selling a bajillion copies worldwide when it’s released next year.
The annual TennoCon event has finally ended, but not without one last surprise, as Digital Extremes took to the stage to show the future of Warframe, or rather, the past, as the next major expansion sees players venturing to what many consider one of the most memorable eras in all of humanity. We’re talking about the roaring ’90s, a period that gave us some of the best video games, hottest music, and greatest movies. Of course, many things happened throughout the decade, but for all those ’90s kids, you probably remember how the era brought the birth of mainstream internet, the boy bands, the Matrix franchise, and even, 3D gaming.
So it should come as no surprise that Warframe 1999 would draw heavily from many of the things made famous during that era. Digital Extremes seems to be pulling all the stops to remind people of what made that era so great, going to such great lengths at not only capturing the dystopian future portrayed in many films of the time but also creating their very own boy band turned into hellish demons, and canonizing the existence of Half-Life in the game’s universe.
Tell Me Why!
If you haven’t given it a listen to already, Digital Extremes released the whole audio track for “Party of Your Lifetime,” sung by On-Lyne, the musical band that clearly takes inspiration from boy bands of the ’90s, such as N-Sync and the Backstreet Boys.
But the band is more than just there to pull on nostalgia as things quickly became apparent during the big Warframe 1999 reveal that this “boy band” wouldn’t just be there to give the expansion a catchy theme song, but rather intricate to the expansion’s plot. While Warframe is partially based on our history, it eventually deviates into what would eventually become the series.
For the last year, many have theorized that Warframe 1999 would explain this deviation. Based on what’s been shown, it seems that in the universe of Warframe 1999, Y2K, the computer bug that many feared would cause mass panic as systems around the world went haywire as soon as the clock rolled into the year 2000, is very much part of the canonized lore in Warframe, at least to some degree.
Instead of being just a computer virus, Y2K is the Technocyte Virus, a virus that has been the driving factor behind the infestation since Warframe first came out, yet one that, in the last decade, we’ve known so little of.
It seems that Warframe 1999 will finally give us answers, and On-Lyne may be one of the driving forces behind the virus. The demo played during TennoCon 2024 confirmed that the band has been transformed into hellish demons that we’ll likely have to face off against.
If you think that’s ridiculously cool, then you should probably give the full gameplay reveal a watch, as throughout it, Digital Extremes pays great homage to many sci-fi era movies, with its cyberpunk, over-the-top action set in a dystopian future.
There’s a cool motorcycle dubbed the Atomicycle that’ll have you zooming across gorgeous backdrops, but my first thought of seeing it is the 1990 animated film Akira, which gave us one of the most iconic motorcycle scenes ever to grace the screen dubbed the Akira slide. It’s been a slide seen in over three decades of films and shows.
Visually, Warframe 1999 nails the look of a sci-fi film meant to portray what the future may have possibly looked like, drawing from inspiration such as The Matrix, Bladerunner, Judge Dredd, Aliens, and other films from the 1980s-2000s. It looks advanced yet retro at the same time. A future where humanity has made such technological leaps to better the lives of everyone, yet grimy enough to show the future isn’t all a paradise, as humanity’s self-indulgence, greed, and lust leave a devastating impact on the world portrayed.
Digital Extremes attempted this before with the Fortuna expansion a few years back, which ended up being quite memorable, but 1999 seems to be taking things to a whole new level. It helps that the team leans more toward nostalgia than they did with Fortuna.
But even if you aren’t from the era, this visually striking expansion offers much to anticipate. If you were a fan of the 2008 Dark Sector game, which was also developed by Digital Extremes, watching the full gameplay video for Warframe 1999 might give you more than just nostalgia, as weren’t for the Warframe name, you’d probably think this was Dark Sector 2.
Sure, there are gameplay elements that are Warframe, but seeing Arthur in action, getting into shootouts, doing some over-the-top maneuvers with his bike, and crossing steel with other enemies doesn’t feel like Warframe. Familiar, sure, but at the same time, something entirely new that makes you go, “Wow, this can’t be Warframe? How is this free-to-play?!?”
1999 Is Back in Style
I don’t know about you guys, but Warframe 1999 has impressed me. I’m not exactly what you would call a massive Warframe fan, though I have, in the last year, grinded out the story and questlines to be prepared for 1999 when it drops later this winter. It takes a lot for me to do that for a free-to-play game, and to play through a decade’s worth of content is no easy feat. But that allowed me to see what all the recent expansions have been about, making me realize that Warframe has evolved beyond your traditional free-to-play game into something new, something that can offer the experience you get out of a AAA game and, at times, even better than one.
Whether Warframe 1999 manages to deliver on what it’s setting out to is something we’ll all find out this winter, but I’ll say for certain, that never once did I ever believe that Warframe would somehow become one of my most anticipated games this year.

Digital Extremes have been teasing the next Warframe expansion (Warframe: 1999) for months, and with the conclusion of TennoCon, finally shedding light on it with an in-depth look and target release date, many have been left wondering if the new motorcycle, known as the Atomicycle, would be strictly for the expansion. Well, as it turns out, that isn’t the case, as Digital Extremes have confirmed to us that you can ride this badass motorcycle in any open-world zone.
As confirmed in a group Q&A session during a media-invite preview of TennoCon 2024, Rebecca Ford, the Creative Director of Warframe, confirmed that the Atomicycles would indeed be summonable in all open zones. Those include Plains of Eidolon, Orb Vallis, Cambion Drift, Duviri, and of course, 1999 itself.
As for those wondering if the Atomicycles will be modular, Ford did say they wouldn’t be, as they’re intended to be a means of travel for players. However, you will be able to customize colors and have other cosmetic options for them.
“No, they are a way to get around 1999 and open worlds. They’re not going to be modular. We’re making them more of a cosmetic and characteristic thing rather than, you have an engine from so and so and a chassis from someone else to build your own.
It’s very much pick your skin, pick your cosmetics, and zoom around.”
It’s not surprising that the bike isn’t modular, but it’s still nice knowing that you can customize some things. It’s even better knowing that Digital Extremes isn’t restricting players to only using it during the 1999 campaign, which we’re sure players are going to love seeing in action in places like Plains of Eidolon and Orb Vallis with some 90s’-themed techno music blasting in the background.
Luckily the wait for Warframe 1999 won’t be too long, as the expansion is slated to arrive this winter 2024 on all platforms.
A gamer at heart, James has been working for MP1st for the last decade to do exactly what he loves, writing about video games and having fun doing it. Growing up in the 90's gaming has been in his DNA since the days of NES. One day he hopes to develop his own game.
Although Digital Extremes isn’t quite ready to call Soulframe an open -world, there’s still a lot of area to explore in, as the studio has confirmed that the game’s first island will be two times bigger than Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon.
Speaking during a press-invite Q&A session at a preview of the TennoCon 2024 event, Digital Extremes’ CEO Steve Sinclair talked a bit about the size of the map in Soulframe. He referred to the location featured in all the demos as the starting island (suggesting there may be more, or more eventually added), with its size roughly twice that of Warframe’s Plains of Eidolon. Despite that the size is probably the biggest of any open zone the team has created, Steve did make a mention of avoiding using the term open world, as a focus is more put on the density of the world rather than the size.
“The starting island is twice as big as Plains of Eidolon. There you go. Twice as big. Soulframe is two times bigger than Warframe. The reason we’re kind of avoiding the open world word is that we’re spending a lot more time on density. If you’re in Preludes, Preludes 5 just dropped a whole bunch of activities and that sort of thing, which is a new system that we just put in.
You’d be wandering around, and then there’ll be almost like a mini-quest; there’s a Banneret there! Or there are some cute little beavers that need to be rescued, and so on. That’s how that works.”
During our hands-off preview demo, Digital Extremes showed a bit of this open area with plenty of combat in-between against small and even possibly mini-boss types of enemies. They later went on to wander around the map, only to tease what appeared to be a random encounter of sorts rewarded from just exploring. The demo cut short from the player interacting with said encounter, but it was clear from what we saw that the world of Soulframe was rich in offerings in the small amount of play area that was shown off.
As for how the game keeps track of progress and such, Steve later on answered a question relating to if Soulframe featured a similar mastery system like in Warframe.
“It actually does have a very similar mastery rank system. You have your envoy, which is your character, and then you have your pact, which is your cursed armor.
Your pact is a class that you can level up. And then, for every pact you level up, your envoy gains a level. And then they have three RPG stats, that are what we call the virtues.
And that feeds back into the system as well. So it’s a kind of almost like the focus school of the operator meets mastery rank.”
Soulframe currently has no release date, though it is running some closed tests that will eventually open up later this year for all players. You should check out this 17-minute gameplay demo of it at TennoCon where we see combat, gameplay mechanics and more featured.

It should come as no surprise, seeing how massive the Star Wars IP is, that Ubisoft is pumping loads into the marketing for their upcoming title, Star Wars Outlaws. Despite having several other successful, established franchises under their belt and this being their first Star Wars game, Ubisoft doesn’t plan to let the franchise’s popularity go to waste, as they’ve confirmed that Star Wars Outlaw holds the highest marketing budget for any game released by them thus far.
This was confirmed in their recent quarterly earnings call Q&A by Ubisoft’s current CEO, Yves Guillemot. When asked to expand further on the guidance the publisher had set for the upcoming quarter and how it seemed the publisher set a lower expectation for Star Wars Outlaw than what investors were hoping for (per Nick Dempsey of Barclays, he calculated roughly five million units sold based on Ubisoft’s guidance) and if Ubisoft was being conservative in their guidance, here’s what Guillemot had to say.
What we are factoring in is a strong launch for Star Wars Outlaw. That’s the fact that it’s among the most awaited game of the industry this year and reflecting a really strong positive community sentiment, and also the fact that we are coming with the biggest marketing campaign ever so far for a Ubisoft game.”
He goes on to explain other factors, such as holiday sales and post-launch content, not only for Outlaws but from Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Rainbow Six Siege, and other Ubisoft titles that will contribute to their revenue for the upcoming quarter while also trying to set some more realistic expectations. One of those expectations came in a follow-up question if Ubisoft anticipates Assassin’s Creed Shadows to be their highest earner in the series, but he simply replied that the publisher expects it to be up there with the top earners in the series.

Star Wars Outlaws is set for release this August 30, 2024 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
