Black Myth Wukong “Non-Pay-to-Win” Microtransactions and DLC Might Be Incoming According to Game FAQ

While Black Myth Wukong is a single-player game, and we haven’t heard anything about microtransactions for it, that doesn’t mean it won’t be in the game in the future. This is something Game Science has recently clarified alongside other things.

On the game’s pre-order FAQ, the studio notes they might release DLC and “non-pay-to-win” in-game purchases (microtransactions) in the future, and even tells gamers to take a screenshot of their FAQ as a statement.

Black Myth: Wukong employs a classic one-time purchase model with a one-time payment. In the future, we may release DLCs and NON-PAY-TO-WIN in-game purchases. (Additionally, we encourage everyone to take a screenshot of this statement as our guarantee.)

While this is not a guarantee that we’ll see DLC or microtransactions for Black Myth Wukong, don’t be surprised if we see it announced in the near future or once the game releases. If the microtransactions are just cosmetic items, I gather, most players won’t have a problem with that, no? Same with DLC, if the full game feels complete, I doubt anyone would balk if they announced more content for it in the future.

Elsewhere in the FAQ, Game Science confirms that the Xbox Series X|S versions will be delayed, and the release date will be announced as soon as the game meets their quality standards.

PC and PS5 users can enjoy the full game starting August 20, 2024. We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X|S version to meet our quality standards, so it won’t release simultaneously with the other platforms. We apologize for the delay and aim to minimize the wait for Xbox users. We will announce the release date as soon as it meets our quality standards.

In other Black Myth Wukong news, the game’s Collector’s Edition and Deluxe Edition have been revealed, which you can read about here to see what’s in it.

Black Myth Wukong releases this August 20 on the PS5 and PC, with the Xbox version soon to be released. Once the release date for Xbox is know, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Valorant Console Version Announced, Beta Sign-Ups and FAQ Now Live

For those of you on console who have been wistfully waiting for Riot’s competitive FPS to come your way, good news: today is the day that a Valorant console version was announced! Limited beta sign-ups are available now over on the game’s official website.

You can watch the Valorant console trailer below:

Here are some details regarding the beta from the game’s website:

Start Date: June 14, 1PM PT/4PM ET/4AM HKT

  • Q: How do I register for the VALORANT Console Limited Beta, and what can I expect after I do?
    • A: You can register for the VALORANT Console Limited Beta right now, on this page! Then, starting June 14 and continuing throughout the Limited Beta, if you’re invited we’ll email you instructions to access the game. You’ll also be able to invite 5 friends to join you, with your personal referral link.
  • Q: Can I play VALORANT against my friends who play on a different platform than I do?
    • A: When you’re actually queuing up, Xbox and PlayStation players will only be able to play together, and will not be able to join games with PC players. We believe strongly in competitive integrity, and this is the best way for us to keep the experience fair and consistent for players on both console and PC.
  • Q: How will progression work, and will it reset after VALORANT is live on consoles?
    • A: You’ll have the same account for either console or PC, and all progression you make while playing on any platform will stay with your account always. That includes anything you’ve already earned or purchased on PC, it’ll be there when you log in on a console. So any progress on the Battlepass, Agents you recruit, or skins you purchase will carry over between console and PC, and will still be on your account once the Limited Beta finishes.
  • Q: What Agents will be unlocked for me in the Limited Beta?
    • A: If it’s your first time playing VALORANT, you’ll have a select few agents available, which are the same for all new players. If you already have a VALORANT account, all the Agents you have unlocked will be playable.

You can sign up for the Valorant console beta at this link. We’ll be sure to share more details as soon as we know more.

Alan Wake 2 Night Springs DLC Releases June 8, Physical Deluxe and Physical Collector’s Editions Announced

Remedy Entertainment developer and the literal face of Max Payne, Sam Lake, went on stage at Summer Game Fest to announce Alan Wake 2’s “Night Springs” DLC, and what’s more, it’s out tomorrow, June 8 on all platforms!

Alongside that, Lake also confirmed that Alan Wake 2 physical Deluxe and Collector’s editions are coming our way later this year as well,

Once we have more details on the physical versions of the game, we’ll let our readers know.

More details on Night Springs have surfaced from the PlayStation Blog:

Put yourself in the shoes of the Number One Fan, who bears a striking resemblance to the waitress Rose Marigold, and fight the shadows in pursuit of truth and love with your trusty shotgun by your side. As the Actor, who may be called “Shawn Ashmore” in some realities and “Sheriff Timothy Breaker” in others, you will take on the mantle of the Time Breaker and defeat the villain hunting for you. And in the North Star episode, unravel coffee-based secrets and cosmic caffeine mysteries as the Sibling, who may seem familiar to those who know Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves B. Jenet and Vox Reaper Revealed

A new trailer for SNK’s upcoming fighting game was released at Summer Game Fest, and with it, the reveal of two new fighters! We now have confirmation that B. Jenet and Vox Reaper will make an appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which will launch sometime in 2025.

You can watch the trailers for the new fighters below:

We’ve got some character bios from the reveal trailers’ descriptions, which we’ll share here:

B. Jenet (Voice Actor: Amber Lee Connors)

Captain of the Lilien Knights, a crew of virtuous pirates. With Kain and Grant weighing on her mind during and after the events of the previous tournament, she makes an altogether uncharacteristic decision: to stay in South Town, if not for a short while. Strangely unable to express her lingering thoughts in words, she sees the upcoming KOF tournament as a true blessing in disguise: finally, a chance to vent her frustrations to both men face-to-face!

VOX REAPER (Voice Actor: Erik Ransom)

Enter the demon: Vox Reaper. This street assassin is dispatched to hunt down and eliminate Kain R. Heinlein—and though the attempt is thwarted, he emerges from the encounter hardly worse for wear. Kain’s bodyguard Grant, having realized the youth’s talent and potential, decides to take him under his wing thereafter. Afforded a new lease on life, and intent on fulfilling his dying master’s wishes (not to mention Kain’s own grandiose ambitions), Vox stalks the bloody battleground that is South Town—a demon reborn.

Both fighters look like they’ll be a lot of fun to play!

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves launches early 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Neva Gameplay Trailer Floats Out, Coming Late 2024

The next game from the devs behind GRIS is on its way, and we got our first look at the title in motion today. At Summer Game Fest, a new Neva gameplay trailer emphasized the game’s beautiful art style and relaxing platforming gameplay, along with a 2024 release window.

You can watch the new trailer below:

Here are some details about the game from a press release shared shortly after the reveal trailer:

Neva depicts the moving tale of a young woman, Alba, and her lifelong bond with a magnificent wolf as they embark on a thrilling adventure through a dying world.

Following a traumatic encounter with dark forces, Alba finds herself bound to a curious, mischievous wolf cub. Working together, the pair will help each other overcome increasingly dangerous situations.

The wolf will grow and mature over time—as will Alba’s relationship with it as they traverse this cursed, decaying world.

Building on what Nomada Studio achieved with GRIS, Neva will feature platforming, puzzles and combat against monstrous enemies, with a minimal UI, delicate art, high quality traditional animation and haunting music.

Neva releases on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch later this year.
