Battlefield 2042 Season 7 Hands-On Preview – A Haven for All Out War

Battlefield 2042 Season 7 is launching next week, and we’ve been given an opportunity to check out the newest map, Haven! Here’s a rundown of our time with it and how we feel about this new urban warfare map.

DICE Continues Learning From the Past, Putting It All Into Haven

Since we were mostly playing with AI bots, it’s hard to say where Haven will land once it’s out in the hands of the public. However, if it’s anything like our experience with Season 6’s map, Redacted, during the previous press event, and judging the reactions from other media and content creators, then Haven is in a very good spot.

DICE notes that they’ve taken inspiration from past maps, such as Arica Harbor from Bad Company 2, Strike At Karkand from Battlefield 3, and Amiens from Battlefield 1, and it clearly shows.

Haven is set in a desert location, though unlike Hourglass, where it’s wide and open, Haven opts for a more linear layout with roads cutting in and out of the town. On the outskirts, there’s a water reservoir and other key facilities that are more for open combat and suited for vehicle warfare, while the center is bustling with now war-torn homes and businesses, which suits the close-quarter infantry playstyle. It’s a midsized map, but the set pieces drive players together for what I would describe as a classic Battlefield experience.

I would say that during our Conquest mode playtest, the map seemed a bit too large for 64 players. I know the response to 128-player hasn’t been great, and I criticized it during my original review of Battlefield 2042. But the major difference here is that the original 128-player maps were built from the ground up with 128 players in mind, so while there were plenty of firefights scattered around the warzone, getting to them was rather a trip, with little else going on in between it, that made these maps feel empty.

It’s not quite as severe on Haven, given that control points are close to each other, but it did feel like some parts of the map were more underutilized, specifically the sides of the map. Despite being easily accessible, they did feel like they were going mostly unnoticed. Now, I’m not saying the solution is adding more players, but I think these built-for-64-player maps — Haven especially, — would benefit from a larger player count.

Still, Conquest on Haven did provide some superb moments of chaos, whether you’re on foot or using one of the many vehicles supported on the map. And I’ll mention it again: we were playing with mostly AIs, and those guys aren’t exactly known for their strategic gameplay, so those few locations that didn’t see as much action could play very differently once the public joins in. It could also be the way points and spawns are set up, which is something I’ll talk more about shortly.

But before I do, let’s talk a bit about Rush on Haven, which I found to be nearly perfect.

Haven is a prime example of how fun Rush can be. The points setup and the locations DICE brings you through during the match on Haven highlight how important coverage and structure placement can be. Though there are no vehicles to use during this mode, it really did feel like a proper Battlefield map with the moment-to-moment firefights as the power struggle between the teams unfolded.

I didn’t use many interior locations during our time with Conquest, given how big and open the map was and how easy it was to pick players off. For Rush, though, the lanes are narrower, giving a bit more of a close-quarter combat mixed in with wide open spaces. But the action always kept up, regardless of which lane was taken during the mode.

There’s a good push-pull dynamic on this map that attackers and defenders can experience. On the attacker side, there are plenty of opportunities around the map to push forward, but it’s just as easy for the defenders to fight back as they get the early advantage of setting defensive points. Verticality also plays a major role on this map, as many of the buildings are enterable, with rooftops to perch on and elevated points that dip to lower sections of the map.

Compared to past maps in 2042, Haven feels like it leans toward teamwork and plays the objective side rather than promoting a lone-wolf mentality. Several chokepoints are littered with overseeing rooftops and easy to hide in interiors. Mind you; this isn’t a game of camping but survival as bullets whizz past you and your teammates while you strategically plan for the next move.

What I love most is how destructibility comes into play on Haven. Granted, it’s not a return to something like Bad Company and is still restrictive in many ways, but there are many parts of the map where it added that much-wanted dynamic warfare.

Taking refuge in a small two-story building while the enemy fired across a street from another, covering both the exits and rooftops, left our team in a tough situation. It was not until we discovered that many of the walls in the building could be blown up, allowing us to create an exit point to retreat elsewhere. We used this to our advantage in another situation, creating new openings for us to return fire.

Again, don’t expect anything on Bad Company’s level of destruction (with the exception of a few buildings being completely destroyable), but I will say that DICE picked and designed some fantastic destruction points throughout the map. That’s something that became more evident during the Rush mode.

Now, the one criticism that I saw come from most folks in the playtest was about the spawn points of the Defender and Attacker side. While our team won pretty much all the matches from each side, it was clear that Haven was more lenient with the attacker side.

My first time playing as an attacker, I was surprised to see just how close to the objective we were and how quickly we could take the points from the defenders. When I finally switched over to defenders, it was clear why, as defenders spawned considerably further away from the points they were defending. By the time we had reached what we were defending, the attackers were nearly there. It didn’t help either that dying and spawning again put us a way out, which gave attackers even more of an advantage than they should have.

I’m sure the community will notice this, assuming it’s not one tweaked ahead of release. Hopefully, we’ll see some spawn balancing there, but beyond that, I’d say that Haven is nearly a perfect map that will certainly become a fan favorite.

If you’re wondering about Stadium, unfortunately, that wasn’t available during our playtest and won’t launch until later in Season 7, so I can’t give you any feedback on that front. But given the banger that Redacted was, and now Haven, I’m feeling good about the direction DICE is taking.

We aren’t sure if Season 7 will be the last season the game sees, but if it is, it gives us faith that DICE has truly learned from its past mistakes, and is a true  “turning point.”

Battlefield 2042 Season 7: Turning Point Version 7.0.0 Patch Notes Now Out

Ahead of the patch deployment this March 19, DICE has released the complete Battlefield 2042 Season 7 patch notes! This is called patch version 7.0.0, and as one might expect, this brings a new map (another one is incoming mid-season), new weapons and a lot of improvements too.

Battlefield 2042 Season 7: Turning Point Patch Notes:

Game Version 7.0.0

WHAT’S NEW IN SEASON 7?

Here is an overview of the new content, alongside highlights for changes and improvements:

NEW MAPS

Haven

Haven, is the return of urban warfare that features a mixture of infantry and vehicle combat set in familiar territory, the Atacama Desert.

This map has been inspired by great favorites from Battlefield’s long history, including Arica Harbor (Bad Company 2), Strike At Karkand (Battlefield 2), and Amiens (Battlefield 1).

If you’d like to learn more about our new map check out our dedicated Haven blog, where we dive deeper into the construction of the map.

Stadium – Arriving later in Season 7

Stadium, an area from Hourglass, will be making its return as a standalone map; this highly requested location from the community has been significantly reworked and adapted for intense, infantry-only close-quarter battles. Stay tuned for more details on the work that has taken place with Stadium, as we get closer to its launch later in Season 7.

NEW WEAPONS: AK 5C, SCZ-3 & DFR STRIFE LMG

It’s time to step up and load up with this season’s new additions to Battlefield 2042’s arsenal.

  • AK 5C – This assault rifle offers an excellent balance of firepower and accuracy, making it the perfect partner for close-quarters combat.
  • SCZ-3 – This deadly submachine gun is a devastating option for close-quarters combat that stings, especially when equipped with a drum  magazine to give you even more time before your next reload.
  • DFR Strife LMG  Get the best of both worlds. Equip the DFR Strife with belt-fed ammo, giving you an LMG’s magazine size and suppressive quality, while retaining the mobility of an Assault Rifle.
    • The DFR Strife LMG will debut in a later update during Season 7: Turning Point.

NEW GADGET – PREDATOR SRAW

A classic staple from Battlefield’s history returns. This anti-vehicle launcher’s wire-guided missile will help you disable and eliminate both land and air vehicles.

NEW VEHICLE XFAD-4 DRAUGR

Keep your eyes on the sky with this cutting-edge  remote-controlled aerial bomber featuring advanced precision-guided ordinance – including EMP bombs and air-to-ground weaponry.

  • The XFAD-4 Draugr will come in a later update during Season 7: Turning Point.

NEW BATTLE PASS

You’ll need to be fearless and do whatever it takes to come out on top. A new Battle Pass featuring powerful weapons and useful gadgets will help you gain an edge in battle where every advantage is a necessary one while this season’s cosmetics will let you intimidate foes.

  • Fixed an issue where going into ADS with the T4 Thermal scope could affect Reload / Low ammo / No ammo prompts
  • Made the firing modes information in the Collection screen more consistent
  • Fixed instances of clipping in third person on the VHX-D3 when using different ammo types
  • Improved lock-on when a soldier gets in the line of sight – lock-on acquisition will be less affected by it
  • Fixed pros for several suppressors in Collection screen
  • Fixed a issue where enemy Laser Sights could cause the screen to turn black when pointed directly towards the player
  • Fixed Muzzle Flash being present when using Suppressors on Shotguns and certain ammo combinations

AC-42

Dispersion has been reduced for the first burst, but dispersion reset has been tweaked so that it doesn’t fully reset between bursts when firing at close to maximum RPM. When firing in controlled bursts and compensation for recoil, it will be possible to hit with higher accuracy over longer ranges. It now behaves closer to other burst firing weapons and should provide a good boost to usability in all ranges.

  • Damage curve tweaked:
    • Reduced damage from 26 to 25 for 0-30m (for High Power, Standard Issue, and Subsonic ammo)
    • Standard Issue: damage reduced 22 -> 20 between 50-75m
    • Subsonic: damage increased 18 -> 20 between 50-75m
    • High-Power: damage increased 18 -> 19 for 100-149m and 15 -> 17 for 150m+

G57

  • Damage reduced from 28 to 24 between 0-30m (Close Combat ammo) and 0-20m (Subsonic)

MP28

  • Damage reduced from 28 to 24 between 30 and 74 meters

PF51

  • Hip Fire accuracy +30%, ADS accuracy -15%

M93R

  • Hip Fire accuracy +30%

12M Auto

  • Tweaks have been made to the Shortened Barrel attachment. When it’s equipped, pellet dispersion will increase by 25% horizontally, reducing its effectiveness at range and 1-on-1 engagements
  • Body Armor:
    • The Body Armor gadget will now add extra protection against buckshot and flechette ammo. This effect will only apply when the projectiles hit the torso, and not the limbs or head
  • AP ammo:
    • Base damage on GVT was too low and has been increased across the board:
      • 0-29m: 35 -> 60
      • 30 – 49m: 28 -> 60
      • 50 – 150+m: 28 -> 35

Scope glint removed from 4x scopes:

  • All scopes with magnification 6x and above will still have glint

RPT-31

  • LS-1 Laser and STNR Laser beam VFX alignment improved

M416

  • Fixed an issue that could cause suppressor to disappear when activating certain underbarrel attachments

SPAS-12

  • Fixed the amount of shells reloaded

Avancys

  • Fixed the icon for T4 Thermal attachment

P90

  • Rate of fire in single fire mode was too low and has been fixed

PP-2000

  • Fixed magazine size shown in Collection Screen

There’s a lot more to dissect regarding the weapon recoil changes and vehicle adjustments. Read on here for DICE’s explanation behind those. You can check out more details of Haven right here.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game Update 1.03 Brings Photo Mode and More This March 15

Saber Interactive slings out Expeditions: A MudRunner Game update 1.03 (PS5 version 1.003) and this brings Photo Mode alongside a host of fixes. Read on for the complete patch notes to see what’s new this March 15, which the devs call Update 1.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game Update 1.03 Patch Notes:

PS5 Update Version: 1.003 | Game Version: Update 1

New feature

  • Photomode

Crashes

  • Fixed the crash reporter
  • Mods – Fixed crash when spawning the default truck mod
  • Fixed crash related to interaction with the modules
  • Fixed crash related to using the Echo Sounder in the Tutorial
  • Fixed crash if specify empty slots for KEY BINDINGS on ‘Controls’ page and then try to open the ‘Control Scheme’
  • Fixed crash related to selling a module

Art

  • Fixed a bug where the ground texture had low graphical resolution. The issue was encountered on the first map of the Arizona region.
  • Fixed soapy landscape textures on ultra settings
  • Fixed engine start animation for Afim 1960, Cotco Canyon, Collie Pug trucks to match new sounds

UI/UX

  • A comment from players was taken into account when the Map was not centered on the place where a player will deploy. To address the issue of player confusion when deploying far from the first quest point, the first car’s deployment zone list will open immediately, so the camera will center on the car.
  • Significant changes have been made to all car description variants. Now, the information is structured to display truly important details for a player. Elements have a more comprehensible layout, both in terms of meaning and visual composition. Interactive elements have become more apparent. These modifications have affected all instances of displaying information about the car (the Garage, the Truck store, the Map).
  • Additionally, improvements have been made to the car card in the store: DLC content display has been added, and layout flaws have been corrected. Now, the card precisely shows the information that is crucial for a player when adding a car to their garage.
  • Added the ‘Recommend’ label for the Little Colorado region. It’s a sign for novice players that they should start with the easier Little Colorado region and gradually move on to the main quests in Arizona and Carpathians.
  • Notification of the scanned area did not disappear after using the radar. Fixed a bug where a notification that the zone had been scanned was left on the screen after using the Radar. Previously, the notification could be cleared by re-entering the menu. Now notification disappears correctly.
  • The movement between addons in the Garage were blocked after returning from the Codex. Now the controls are fixed and working as usual.
Improved the layout of the pop ups Completed quest and New task. The interface now uses the patterns defined on the HQ screens, it gives better understanding on rewards.
  • Trucks, Vehicle addons, Base modules and Specialists are now properly displayed in the Reward pop ups of expeditions, contracts and tasks. Previously players have received these rewards as they should have been, but there was no mention of these rewards in UI.
  • Improved PROS pop ups
  • Added the slider when selecting base modules to build
  • HQ – It is possible to open the inventory of the car using the cursor
  • Garage – Fixed bug when fuel quantity does not change after changing the measurement system
  • Garage – fixed bug related with unexpected changing the balance when selling/buying items before the expedition
  • Garage – fixed selection on the truck when a player remove the car in the Garage, the focus shifts to the car above
  • Disabled installation of sideboards if it cannot be installed on the car
  • The remaining space for gasoline calculates correctly incase of taking any car without a sideboard, installing it, and buying any amount of fuel
  • Added treasure icons when using the Metal detector
  • D button in the Tire Inflation System screen can be clicked by LMB
  • In the DLC store it is impossible to switch by Q/E buttons
  • Truck engine can be turned off on XboxOne, Xbox X

Gameplay

  • Feature: upon exiting to the HQ, all incomplete tasks and contracts will be reset. * Previously this led to softlocks: if a player returned to the HQ after completing a contract/task stage with a unique item and then returned to the same map with new expeditions, the unique contract/task item wouldn’t respawn, so the player had to restart the contract/task manually.
  • Increased number of attempts to complete the Echo Sounder minigame to simplify quests for players. We received negative feedback about the difficulty of the minigame where a player has to scan fish.
  • Upgrades opened with binoculars are not displayed on the map. After fixes, objects discovered with binoculars are displayed on the Map.
  • Added the key to use the car’s honk with the gamepad.
  • Fixed sound of the Drone’s bad signal. The sound would start when a player wasn’t far from a truck. Now a player can understand the signal status from the interface.
  • Fixed Seismic Vibrator’s sounds
  • Tutorial – You can’t open a refuel hud in a stage with a refueling truck. At the stage, with the car being refueled and repaired, the HUD opens and immediately closes. You cannot go through a stage without re-entering the main menu (after re-entering, you are thrown to the next stage).
  • Minigame Camera – Too many fireflies in the minigame at night. The fireflies VFX were displayed on pictures taken by a player. Sometimes there were so many of them that they covered the entire scene.
  • Minigame Camera – The completed stage disappears immediately after completing the minigame, without necessity in opening/closing the map.
  • Minigame Visual Inspection – Removed the CLOSE control from the bottom
  • PS5 Activities are counted as completed

Economical system issues

  • Repeated installations of DLC allowed a player to endlessly receive money from the sale of DLC trucks. Now uninstalling DLCs removes DLC trucks from the game so the money exploit is not available anymore.
  • WIP truck frame modules were available for purchase in the garage. Players were able to access the Living and Workshop truck framemodules, even though they were not intended to be available. As a result, players could waste money on the Workshop module without being able to install it. Living Module didn’t have any functionality but was possible to buy and install. Now both frame modules are not available for purchase.
  • Addon purchase is blocked in case of buying invalid module

Mod support

  • Added localization in the cheat pop-ups on the Polygon map
  • Added the new Expedition’s Readme file in the folder Guides
  • Fixed bug related to the Mod Browser – The control in the saves screen disappears after remove/installing the mod in the mod browser

Localization

  • Fixed description of the Expanded parking and Tow truck modules
  • Fixed description of consumables in the trade window for the sideboard
  • Garage – The requirement to open the “Complete _ to unlock” addon is displayed in all supported languages
  • Removed Korean technical text from the sell button in the Garage
  • Fixed cropped texts on Poland, Czech

200+ other minor fixes and improvements

If you haven’t played the game yet, you might be surprised at how good it is. Go read our review to find out more.

Aspyr Gives Statement on Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection

It’s no secret by now that the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection by Aspyr hasn’t been a smooth launch. From crashing, server issues and more, the game has even gotten a “don’t buy” warning from players due to how messy it is currently.

The studio has made a statement about it, and have acknowledged the “critical errors” tied to the game’s servers as well.

Oddly enough, Aspyr didn’t really mention that they’ll release patches to fix some of the game’s technical issues, but we’re hoping a few are on the way.

If you haven’t played it yet, we suggest holding off on buying it for now, as our review states, “Making these games accessible on modern systems is great, sure. Making them accessible by modern standards would have been better. The Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a delightful and painful romp through old stomping grounds that will likely lose its short-lived luster in a matter of weeks.”

Palworld First Raid Announced, Check Out the Teaser

Pocket Pair Inc. has announced the Palword first raid, and it’s set to drop soon! Check out the tease trailer where we see the new enemy (Bellanoir) that awaits players.

Palworld First Raid Teaser:

No word yet on when this will be available but it is “coming soon,” so we expect it to be available next week or before the month is over at the very least.

This is one of the many content drops Pocket Pair has promised to players, and hopefully, it delivers the goods. Once we know more about this new enemy and the mission tied around it, we’ll let our readers know.

While Palworld hasn’t been as active in the news as before, it still has an active player base with over 110,000 gamers players in the last 24 hours (according to Steam Charts).

It’s a far cry from where it was before, but it’s expected that the concurrent player count will drop off once the initial hype has subsided. Having said that, the game has sold over 15 million copies since it launched in early access, so I don’t think Pocket Pair is losing any sleep over it.

Stay tuned to Palworld’s first raid, as we’ll be sure to let people know about it the moment more info is available.

After Embracer Split, Saber Interactive Confirms Projects Still Being Worked On

Earlier today, video game company Saber Interactive has confirmed their split with the Embracer Group as part of an acquisition deal of $275 million to Beacon Interactive. Now, for those wondering whether this changes any of Saber’s on-going projects, thankfully, that’s not the case.

Over on Twitter/X, Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer (COO) of Saber Interactive, confirmed that the company is still developing Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, and Jurassic Park: Survival.

This is definitely good news for those looking forward to those games. I know I’m excited to see Space Marine 2 be released. Speaking of which, that game has been delayed to the second half of 2024, and I’m hoping that it doesn’t get another delay.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is also another game slated to be released this year, though we haven’t heard much from it. As for Jurassic Park: Survival, there is no release window tied to it yet, but it is confirmed to be launching on current-gen consoles and PC.

Saber’s confirmation of in-development projects is comforting, especially given the left and right studio closures and layoffs happening around the video game industry.

Here’s to hoping for better days ahead for Saber Interactive and their projects.

Lords of the Fallen Update 1.038 for Version 1.1.598 Drags PvP Balancing and More This March 14

Lords of the Fallen update 1.038 is now available on all platforms, and this is for patch version 1.1.598. Players can expect a bunch of PvP balancing changes, PS5-specific fixes and more. Read on for the complete LOTF new update patch notes for March 14.

Lords of the Fallen Update 1.038 Patch Notes for March 14:

Game Version 1.1.598

Today’s Highlights:

Pieta Bossfight & HUB Performance Optimization
You may notice that on your way to fight Pieta, there is some construction work going on in Mournstead, this is to allow Pieta enough time to get fully battle-ready for your upcoming duel.

AMD Stability Improvement
We’ve extensively worked with our partners over at AMD to identify and resolve crashes experienced by players with AMD-specific hardware.

Ending Blocker Fixed
From players’ reports through our support we were able to uncover and resolve a rare blocker that prevented finishing the game. This issue should now be fixed. If you come across any other issues within Lords of the Fallen, please reach out via support@cigames.com. Huge thanks to Kal1ber_ for working with us on this, and sending in their save file, this aided in the swift resolution.

PVP Balancing
As alluded to above, in this patch we have turned our attention to various PVP balancing, to increase overall player satisfaction in multiplayer.

  • PVP damage multiplier reduced 0.5 > 0.25 – From your feedback and our own experiences, we felt that time-to-kill was disproportionate to optimal combat. As a result, we have decreased the PVP damage multiplayer by half, this should allow all players the opportunity to engage in more gratifying combat.
  • Stabs PVP damage multiplier increased overall (1.0 > 2.0 for all weapons except UGS, which is 1.0 > 1.25) – Lacking a certain oomph that we felt stabbing in combat deserved, we have increased the overall PVP damage multiplier by 2x (except UGS). This should increase the desire to perform effective stabs whilst in PVP combat.
  • Harrower Dervla’s Crossbow PVP damage overall reduced 1.0 > 0.33 – We have noticed a popular combo dominate PVP combat in recent weeks, which we felt needed some slight balancing to increase the variety of play. As such, we have reduced the PVP damage for Harrower Dervla’s Crossbow from 1.0 to 0.33.
  • Various spell PVP rebalancing – We have made an overall balancing pass of spells, elevating some spells that could do with an increase in damage, whilst decreasing the damage of other spells that appeared too strong.
  • PVP Status Effect buildup multiplier 0.66 > 0.5 – Due to data observed on our end, we concluded that the PVP status effect buildup was too strong, as a result, we have decreased the buildup multiplier.
  • Dual wield status effect buildup reduced 1.0 > 0.7 – Lastly, we have decreased the Dual wield status buildup effect to positively impact the health of player combat.

PS5
Umbral soulflay crash & blocker fixed – After some investigations on our end, we have uncovered the cause for a certain crash on PS5 after using Soulflay, and consequently fixed.

Environment

  • Fixed a visual glitch with rock assets in the arena with the optional boss encounter with the Lightreaper.
  • Fixed a visual glitch with rock assets on the main path in Defiled Sepulchre.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to look out of the world on the roof of a building close to the boss arena in Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to look out of the game world due to a hole in the environment near the Vestige of Rosamund.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause blood splatter effects to only be visible up close in front of the boss arena with the Hushed Saint.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause certain assets to visibly disappear when moving away from the Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch.

Multiplayer

  • Adjusted matchmaking to only allow connections between players using the same game version.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the “New Item” badge to reappear after joining a multiplayer session.
  • Fixed an issue in multiplayer that could cause clients to not be affected by frostbite and other effects summoned by the Hollow Crow.
  • Fixed an issue in multiplayer that could cause the host’s character to be inivisible for a coop partner in the first scene of the pre-fight cinemantic with the Hushed Saint.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause certain holy weapons to deal additional magic damage in invasions.
  • Fixed a rare crash in multiplayer, that could cause clients to crash when the host’s tombstone appeared.

UI

  • Fixed an issue that wrongly displayed the Dark Crusader class unlock prompt upon defeating a lategame boss in Upper Calrath.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Vestige menu selection to automatically jump back to “Rest” when browsing the Vestige menu while looking for a multiplayer match.
  • Fixed an issue that wrongly displayed health bars above the Sacred Resonance of Tenacity.

Performance

  • Adjusted level streaming to improve game performance in Skyrest Bridge.
  • Adjusted level streaming to improve game performance near the boss encounter with the Sundered Monarch.

Umbral

  • Fixed an issue that could cause Umbral assets to visibly load in at the boss arena with Crimson Rector Percival.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Umbral assets to visibly load in near the Vestige of the Pale Butcher.

Other

  • Fixed an issue that could cause the Hushed Saint to knock the player out of the boss arena with certain attacks.
  • Fixed a rare blocker that could prevent players from finishing the game due to missing interaction prompts after the boss encounter with the Sundered Monarch.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Dark Crusader class to be unlocked when finishing the corresponding quest.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause fire VFX to stay on the screen even after the affected enemy has died from “Infernal Weapon”.

Those on consoles, the visual degradation that stemmed from a previous patch should not be an issue. If you notice anything worth noting, leave a comment below and let us know.

Battlefield 2042 Season 7 New Map “Haven” Overview and Points of Interest Revealed

One of the big things incoming with Battlefield 2042’s new season is the all-new map “Haven” which will launch once Season 7: Turning Point starts this March 19. For those who want a head start on how the map will play, go read on for the Battlefield 2042 Season 7 new map “Haven” overview.

Battlefield 2042 Season 7 New Map “Haven” Overview and Points of Interest:

Here are the five capture points players will fight over on the map:

A: Gas Station

The gas station is heavily fortified, and claiming it secures additional fuel to try and seize control over the Guarani aquifer. The surrounding infrastructure will allow for vehicles to put their mark on the battle as well. Combined with the semi-destructible buildings, fortifications and rocky surroundings, it will offer you a lot of choice on how to assault or protect the area.

B: Crash Site

The crashed US transport in the heart of the battlefield serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing conflict. But it’s also a sign of how you can use your surroundings to strengthen your approach.

The rocky desert environment of the Crash Site is the perfect playground for battling squads, with the remaining buildings offering plenty of opportunities for cover. However, stay vigilant as these buildings are a prime target for vehicles to be torn down.

C: Town Center

In the midst of this desert warzone stands the once lively marketplace. Now eerily silent, the vibrant colors are muted by dust and smoke of the ongoing conflict. It might be a last reminder for the locals as to what they are fighting for. While offering plenty of cover, the buildings in this area are again ready for destruction. Best to stay alert, as a nearby tank might prove itself useful to clear the area.

D: Oasis

The Oasis could be considered the last location of respite in the Atacama Desert. As a capture point it’s not only vital because of the remaining water, but also because of its lithium pools that provide a vital resource for the winning faction. It makes the Oasis the lifeblood of El Alicanto, and the ultimate prize in this conflict.

E: Checkpoint

On the very edge of El Alicanto lies the last checkpoint. A reminder of what civilization in this area looked like not too long ago. The fortifications allow any controlling force to hold a significant entrance to the town and its resources. The barriers and large barricades between the outskirts of the town will require brawn and brains to overcome. Losing this area might mean losing the town and access to water.

According to DICE, Haven will continue the urban warfare players have been asking for. This new map focuses on infantry and vehicular warfare, and was made for 64-player combat. In terms of inspiration, DICE took ideas from Arica Harbor (Bad Company 2), Strike at Karkand (Battlefield 3), and Amiens (Battlefield 1).

For more on the map’s backstory, head on over here. Battlefield 2042 Season 7: Turning Point kicks off on March 19, and you can read up on the new weapons and other details here.

Star Wars Battlefront Collection at Overwhelmingly Negative Reviews on Steam; Players Warning Not to Buy

Star Wars Battlefront Collection’s rocky launch is unsurprisingly being met with negative reactions, as PC players have flooded Steam’s discussion board, warning others to stay away and leaving some rather harsh reviews.

As reported earlier today, the highly acclaimed Star Wars Battlefront games have been re-released in an all-new collection bundle. With players having fond memories of the original releases, many went in with high expectations, though they quickly discovered that the games were plagued with many issues.

The most common, as we outlined in our Star Wars Battlefront Collection known issues piece, was the lack of servers that left many unable to play online. Beyond that, other bugs, some new, while some carried from the original releases, have also been plaguing players. Many have also noted the lack of modern-day features and general quality-of-life improvements, calling this re-release a lackluster port.

So, unsurprisingly, players have begun requesting refunds, not just on Steam but on other platforms as well. Even less surprising is that this has also prompted them to leave bad reviews of the game, with the collection now mostly negative with over 1400 reviews. Mind you, this is Steam, meaning they’re verified purchases, not just players review-bombing the title, as we’ve seen on Metacritic.

Over on the Battlefront subreddit, multiple discussions and threads have cropped up regarding refunding the game or how to process a refund on the platform where the game was bought.

Any chance PSN will accept a refund request? The collection is a broken product

What should have been a celebration of classics has quickly taken a turn for the worse. While most weren’t expecting any remake with these collections, there were expectations that this would be more than just a simple resolution bump, as, while fun, the original releases had their fair share of issues. That sadly wasn’t the case, and while the titles were good for their time, seeing them back with little to no other improvements already makes this collection feel rather dated. This criticism was also something that was brought up in our Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection review.

Hopefully, Aspry will see all of this feedback and work on a patch to resolve most of these issues. It’s heartbreaking to see such beloved titles handled in such a way.
