You can read the Guardian Games 2024 schedule, prizes and more here.

Destiny 2 Update 3.18 Patch Notes | Destiny 2 Update 7.3.5 Patch Notes | Destiny 2 Update 1.113 Patch Notes:

ACTIVITIES

CRUCIBLE

General

  • Fixed an issue causing crests to bounce on water in Supremacy.
  • Altered the way the experimental Snake Draft lobby balancer handles fireteams.
  • Updated the playlist tooltips to correctly display which matchmaking style is being used for each mode.

Maps

  • Tuning pass over the initial spawning, Heavy ammo crate, and tiebreaker zone locations for all maps.
  • Map spawning quality of life pass.
    • Addressed spawn traps for Eternity and Fortress.
    • Removed all backfield spawns for non-Rift modes: The Citadel, Cathedral of Dusk, Disjunction, and Convergence.

Game Modes

  • Moved 3v3 Clash to the 3v3 Quickplay rotator and updated the rules:
    • Heavy ammo is no longer shared.
    • Respawn timer increased from 5 to 7 seconds.
    • Match timer increased to 10 minutes, score to win remains 40.
  • Added Collision, a new 3v3 king of the hill game mode, to Crucible Labs.
    • A single, larger zone will rotate between five points around the map on a timer. Capturing and controlling that rotating zone will earn a team points.
    • This mode will also feature test an alternative Special ammo crate system.
      • The Special ammo crate system will feature four shareable Special ammo crates that spawn simultaneously at the beginning of the game or round, and then on a timer afterwards.
      • Each control zone location (A, B, and C) will have an associated Special ammo crate, and the fourth crate will be in a neutral location.
      • Players who currently have Special ammo will drop Special ammo bricks upon defeat.
  • Iron Banner Tribute has been reworked:
    • Simplified objectives and scoring.
      • Changed the trigger for the Hunt from depositing max crests to a team score threshold.
    • User-experience improvements.
      • Decreased the distance at which crest icons can be seen.
      • Reworked how quickly the beacons de-spawn and rotate.
      • Significantly decreased the time it takes to dunk crests.
    • Reduced the number of turrets that spawn with the Hunt beacon from 4 to 3.
    • Removed the visual indicator (“wall hacks”) on players carrying max crests.

Competitive

  • Added a third tier to the Competitive weekly challenge with a new reward of Artifice Armor.
    • This tier is unlocked for all players who reach rank Gold III or above each Season.
    • This tier requires match victories instead of completions.
    • Upon completion of the challenge, each victory thereafter has a chance to drop Artifice Armor, and the drop rates increase alongside a player’s rank.
    • Drop rates are based on a player’s highest rank achieved for the Season, not their current rank.
  • Competitive matches will also have an increased chance to drop Exotic weapon catalysts on victories.

Trials of Osiris

  • Updated the 50% chance to get a Trials weapon on wins to always drop the weekly weapon reward, to better allow for targeted farming of the specific weapon a player wants.
  • Added rewards on match completions for three-person fireteams (gated on participation).
    • An additional 50% chance to drop the non-Adept Trials weekly weapon reward.
    • A 50% chance at a Trials Engram drop.
    • Additional Trials reputation.
  • Trials Passages
    • Updated:
      • Passage of Ferocity – If a player hasn’t been Flawless for the week, then losses after 3 wins will reset them back to 3 wins instead of Flawing their card.
    • Added:
      • Passage of Persistence – Losses following a win will remove the win from a player’s card. Consecutive losses do not remove additional wins. Getting to 7 wins grants a drop of the weekly Adept weapon, regardless of how many losses the player has taken.
  • Added two weapons to the Trials of Osiris rewards rotation.
    • The Summoner Auto Rifle and its Adept version will be the featured Trials of Osiris weapon for the first time during the week of March 12.
    • The Prophet Scout Rifle and its Adept version will be the featured Trials of Osiris weapon during the week of March 19.

Iron Banner

  • Added two weapons to the Iron Banner rewards rotation that will be available starting April 2.
    • Tusk of the Boar Grenade Launcher
    • Multimach CCX Submachine Gun

NIGHTFALLS

  • Added two weapons to the Nightfall loot pool rotation.
    • The Wild Style Grenade Launcher and its Adept version will be the featured Nightfall weapon for the first time during the week of March 5.
    • The Slammer Sword and its Adept Version will be the featured Nightfall weapon for the first time during the week of March 19.

GAMBIT

  •  Fixed an issue with an incorrect Hive variant spawning.

DUNGEONS

  • Prophecy
    • The dungeon weapon pool has been updated. All the added and updated weapons below will also be given this new Origin Trait:
      • Crossing Over: These weapons have increased range and handling for the top half of the magazine, while rounds from the bottom half of the magazine deal increased damage.

Getting 100 points grants two kills worth of Special ammo for their chosen weapon.
    • Kills from Special ammo weapons and Heavy ammo weapons do not grant any points toward Special ammo meter progress.

    • Increased reserve ammunition by 6 rounds at 0 inventory stat and by 10 rounds at 100 inventory stat.

    • Sundering buff is no longer active while weapons are stowed.

ABILITIES

  • Radiant and Restoration
    • Fixed an issue where Restoration and Radiant buffs were being reapplied rather than having their duration extended.
      • Note: This also resolves similar issues with shorter Restoration sources like Sunspots.
  • Ember of Empyrean
    • Increased maximum extension duration from 12 to 15 seconds.
    • Reduced timer extension granted per Solar kill to compensate for drastically improved consistency.
      • Previously, this granted a flat timer extension, regardless of the type of target defeated.
      • Now, this time varies based off the target’s tier, with lower time extension returns than previously for minor combatants and higher returns for Champion+ tier combatants.
  • Ember of Mercy
    • Now grants a flat 2 additional seconds to the player’s active Restoration or Radiant timer, rather than refreshing its duration. This value is increased to 3 seconds with Ember of Solace equipped.

    • Fixed an issue where Threadlings were sometimes not playing their destruction performance when destroyed.
    • Increased aim assist target size from 0.41m to 0.5m.
  • Arcane Needle
    • Increased aim assist angle by about 50%.
    • Increased aim assist falloff distance from 30 to 45 meters.
    • Increased tracking angular velocity by about 5%.
    • Increased length of projectile’s tracking shape.
      • Note: These changes result in improved tracking consistency at all ranges, with the greatest improvement felt against close- to mid-range targets.
    • Fixed an issue where using uncharged melees while Arcane Needle is equipped resulted in the player appearing to freeze in a melee pose.
  • Consecration
    • Increased Primary Scorch ground-follow projectile travel distance from 18 to 20 meters.
    • Increased height of slam ground-follow projectile detonation by about 1 meter.
    • Increased travel distance of slam ground-follow projectile from 16 to 20 meters.

  • Gunpowder Gamble
    • Reduced maximum self-damage on detonation by 33%.

  • Fixed an issue where Rally Barricade was receiving more chunk ability energy from perks than intended while the Bastion Aspect is equipped.

Instagram Down With Refresh Feed Errors This March 5

It looks like Meta is having issues today, as Instagram is down and not refreshing its feed properly, and even Facebook, Messenger are having issues as well this March 5.

Instagram Down Status for March 5:

Based on our testing using multiple devices, Instagram is down and experiencing issues. This is mostly with the feed showing old posts, though don’t be surprised if the platform’s messaging system is affected too.

Not one to be left out of any social media commentary, Twitter (now X) owner Elon Musk has even issued a tweet about the outage regarding IG, Facebook and Instagram Threads:

Over on X, Andy Stone, Meta’s Communications lead also acknowledged the outage:

We’re keeping an eye out on this one, and while Facebook seems to have sorted itself out, Instagram is still borked at the moment. We’ll update the article once more info about it surfaces.

Helldivers 2 EXO-45 Patriot Mech Ready for Deployment “Soon,” Arrowhead Boss Responds to Halo Comparison

Just last week, gameplay surfaced of what appears to be a mech suit that players can ride in Helldivers 2. Well, it seems we won’t have to wait to play it, as Arrowhead has confirmed that the Helldivers 2 EXO-45 Patriot Mech is hitting the game “soon!”

This was announced by the official Helldivers 2 Twitter account today:

There’s no word on when “soon” is, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s within the next two weeks. Personally, I am hoping it’s this week, as we need all the help we can get in order to fight for democracy.

In other Helldivers 2 news, a fan recently compared the game to Microsoft’s Halo franchise and said that Arrowhead’s franchise is greater and even tagged Arrowhead Game Studios boss Johan Pilestedt who wanted none of this flaming, and instead asked why do people need to compare.

Talking more about it, Pilestedt also replied to another fan who mentioned that a bit of friendly rivalry is a great thing, but that it should stay friendly.

I can’t say I am against what Pilestedt said. Monopoly in any industry is indeed not a good thing.

While we don’t know when the Helldivers 2 mech will be available in the game, we can confirm that daily orders are now back since early this morning. There’s also a balance update incoming, which might include the mech in it as well, though there’s no guarantee of that.

Chivalry 2 Update 1.35 for Version 2.10 Duel of the Fêtes This March 5

Torn Banner Studios has released Chivalry 2 update 1.35 (PS5 update version 1.035) is now available and this brings in the Duel of the Fêtes update content! This is called Chivalry 2 patch version 2.10, and brings Skill Based Team Balance, unofficial server support with Nitrado and more.

Chivalry 2 Update 1.35 Patch Notes | Chivalry 2 Update 1.035 Patch Notes | Chivalry 2 Update 2.10 “Duel of the Fêtes” Patch Notes:

Update Highlights

  • New Major Feature – Unofficial Server support with Nitrado
  • New Major Feature – Skill Based Team Balance
  • New Feature – Region Selection Options
  • New Campaign Pass – “Fête-for-All”
  • New TDM map – “Frozen Wreck”
  • New FFA maps – “Frozen Wreck, Bazaar, Duelyard”
  • Combat Changes and Balance
  • QoL Improvements

New Major Feature – Unofficial Server Support!

The highly requested Unofficial Server support feature is now live! Players can now rent their own servers through Nitrado and customize them to their liking. Looking to organize a community event? Want to play only Brawl with your friends and nothing else? This is the place to go! Players will find a “Rent A Server” button directly in-game below when viewing the Server Browser, allowing them to begin the Unofficial server process.

Unofficial Servers have the following customizable features:

  • Votekick Parameters
  • Custom Class Limits
  • Custom Length Warmup Timer
  • Custom Length Match Timer (Team Objective)
  • Custom Length Match Timer (Non-Team Objective)
  • Custom Match Score Limit (Non-Team Objective)
  • Custom Match Player Count (Max of 64 players)
  • Ability to turn horses on or off
  • Ability to restrict players to third person or first person
  • Ability to disable combat zones
  • Passworded Server Support
  • Local Admin Support
  • Local Kicks / Bans
  • Local In-Game Server / Admin Messaging

Check out our Unofficial Server FAQ!

With the release of unofficial servers, our standalone duel servers will become social spaces. It will be up to the players how they use these spaces, therefore we will no longer be actively moderating for “RDM” (Random Death Match Instances i.e. attacking players randomly like you would in the free-for-all gamemode). Players must still however comply with our Code of Conduct and ToS

New Major Feature – Skill Based Team Balancing

Teams will now balance players with an algorithm derived from global rank before the start of a given match. Once balanced, players will be unable to switch teams unless in the event of unbalanced player counts or when switched automatically by the game to maintain team balancing parameters.

The following modes will have Skill Based Team Balancing enabled:

  • 64 Player Team Objective (Matchmaking Queue)
  • 40 Player Mixed Modes (Matchmaking Queue)
  • Last Team Standing (Limited Time Queue and Standalone Servers)

This feature is currently not available for 3v3 Arena and Unofficial Servers, but we are exploring the option to add it in the future.

Additional Notes:
This feature was designed to help balance the start of a match, while still maintaining tight restrictions post-balancing around team size discrepancies. It behaves differently than a Skill Based Matchmaking system that would create entire lobbies of similarly skilled players ultimately requiring a much larger scope of work and introducing more risk. Due to the size of most of our lobbies, it made more sense for us to apply the balancing within the match itself.

Just before a match begins after all players have loaded in, the server will perform a shuffle taking into consideration players’ global ranks as well as their premade parties before assigning them a team. The system is built to prioritize parties staying together. The balance algorithm in use is not solely trying to achieve a 1:1 balance according to global rank.

After the shuffle is complete, teams must not create an imbalance of more than 1 player at any one time, or Team Switching will be restricted. For example: if there are two teams of 16 players and one player in spectate, that player can swap to either team as the new numbers would be 17 vs 16 (an imbalance of 1). But if there is a team of 17 and a team of 16, the player in spectate will be unable to swap to the team of 17, as that would create 18 vs 16 (an imbalance of 2).

Both 64 and 40-player matches in the server browser remain unaffected by this new feature as they are currently treated as a more social space for playing Team Objective and Team Deathmatch.

New Feature – Region Selection

Players will now have the option to select their Matchmaking region of preference. This option is available in the Game Options menu.

The following selections are available:

  • North America West
  • North America Central
  • North America East
  • South America West
  • West Europe
  • London
  • Paris
  • East Oceania
  • East Asia
  • South Korea
  • Japan

Please note that matchmaking search time and latency may be impacted depending on the region selected.

New Maps – Frozen Wreck, Bazaar and Duel Yard!

New Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All Map – Frozen Wreck

Marooned Masons fight with cold steel on thin ice to survive their shipwreck in the desolate north. Avoid ice crumbling beneath your feet, or break it beneath your opponents to plunge them to an icy grave.

  • Added the ability to rotate the character in the Customization screen
    • To rotate the character, hold left click on the character and drag with the mouse.
    • For controllers, use the Left Thumbstick input to rotate left and Right Thumbstick input to rotate right.

Combat

  • Blocking
    • Adjusted backstab angle checks to be more consistent

Certain perks like that backstab perk on Ambusher would not grant its bonus reliably. This led to an opportunity to improve the back hit detection in combat, making it more consistent in receiving the bonus for the class and to reward skillful footwork and swing manipulation in general.

    • Fixed an issue where countering a projectile after a world hit would result in automatically throwing your weapon
  • Dismemberment
    • Fixed an issue where chopped heads would have default customization on current gen systems

Note: this fix was not applied to last gen consoles for performance reasons.

  • Feints

  • Jabs
    • Jab release time is now consistent across all weapons
    • Fixed an issue where jabs could go through another user’s jab after feint

  • Parry
    • Made parry more consistent when canceling from a successful combo
    • Fixed an issue where parry would be inconsistent when canceling from a combo feint to parry
  • Sprint Attack
    • Increased the windup time by 0.115 seconds to reduce ability to instantly hit
    • Added a condition where unsuccessful sprint attacks would result in a recovery state

Sprint attacks have been observed to allow players to bring up parries immediately even when failing to land said attack. Conditions have been added to further prevent this, allowing an opponent to more reliably punish a failed sprint attack.

  • Stabs
    • Heavy stabs now thwack against teammates
    • Fixed an issue with polearms having shaft hits to the side during a stab
  • General
    • Fixed an issue where arrow trails would linger when blocking an arrow

    • Servers left up over extended periods of time can have their timer desync. We generally recommend a server reset at most every few days

  • Cross-Platform Parties BETA
    • New leader’s name does not display for other clients on pop-up banner when old leader leaves
    • In game UI may not list all players in the party
    • Xbox Series X cannot remove a Steam friend
    • Occasional “Travel To Session Failed” deyncs the party

  • Console-specific Issues

EA UFC 5 Update 1.06 Released for Version 1.006, Adds New Fighters and More This March 5

EA has pushed out EA UFC 5 update 1.06 (PS5 update version 1.006), and this adds two new fighters in Sean Brady and Jalin Turner. There are also gameplay adjustments like increased stamina cost of blocked, missed and evaded strikes, grappling changes and more. Read on for the complete patch notes for EA UFC 5’s latest game update.

EA UFC 5 Update 1.06 Patch Notes | UFC 5 Update 1.006 Patch Notes:

NEW FIGHTERS

  • Sean Brady (#7 WW)
  • Jalin Turner (#9 LW)

UFC 299 Fight Week Challenges and New Alter Egos

  • These will be added on March 5, 2024, at 4 pm PT

STRIKING

  • Increased the stamina cost of blocked, missed, and evaded strikes in the stand-up.
    • This change is similar to the one in the previous patch, but bigger:
      • + 7.5% for blocked strikes (+2.5% the previous patch)
      • + 10% for missed and evaded strikes (+5% the previous patch)
    • Even though the change is larger than the previous tuning, it is an incremental change rather than an overhaul. You may notice we often go for more significant increases or decreases when tuning other aspects of the game. However, stamina is a very complex variable, with a heavy compounding effect. Therefore, in this one case, we have to be more cautious. We will continue to look at data and listen to the community. If stamina remains abundant after this change, we are ready to implement a more impactful change in the next patch.
  • Fixed a tracking issue with spinning strikes.
    • Spinning strikes were unduly tracking evasions and it was possible to evade them, but it required an unintended sweet spot in timing that other strikes don’t demand. Now, they should behave like the other strikes.
  • Reduced the base damage of the spinning elbows:
    • Lead: 30 to 25
    • Rear: 35 to 20
  • Reduced the range of the spinning elbows.
    • The range was reduced from that of a jab range to that of a regular stand-up elbow range.
  • Reduced the block stun caused by the spinning elbows.
    • This means the defender can act sooner after blocking the strike. The spinning elbows will end up at a greater timing disadvantage after they’re blocked.
  • Halved the block bleedthrough caused by spinning elbows (10% to 5%).
    • This is the percentage of damage that goes through regardless of the block meter.
  • Quadrupled the vulnerability conceded by the spinning elbows.
  • Reduced the base damage of the regular stand-up elbows:
    • Lead: 20 to 17.5
    • Rear: 25 to 22.5
  • Slightly increased the vulnerability conceded by the regular stand-up elbows.
    • From the same as a jab to that of a hook.
  • Made it harder to cause the special guard breaks of specific kicks, such as hook kicks and the rolling thunder.
    • The long-term block health threshold changed from 85 (15 damage) to 60 (40 damage).
  • Removed an unintended damage penalty from nose injuries.
    • It affected straight and upper arc strikes, increasing the damage by over 30%. This fix should reduce the compounding effect of causing a nose injury and make corresponding doctor stoppages significantly harder to achieve. (Nose injuries continue to inflict a 15% penalty to short-term stamina recovery speed.)
  • (Improved blood particle effects from big hits when the fighter is bleeding significantly from the nose or mouth. This change was in the previous patch, but not informed in the patch notes.)

GRAPPLING

  • Canceling a double leg into the over-under clinch will now require a 1% stamina advantage.
    • This is a much-requested change that aims to encourage more variety in wrestling.
  • Reduced the stamina advantage requirement for canceling the single leg and low single leg into the back clinch from 30% to 20%.
  • Ground and Pound Submissions will now require a health event.
    • This change’s goal is to prevent the “submission true combos” that were possible by stringing deep submissions/desperate escapes that ended up in a ground-and-pound position right into another submission attempt and subsequent finish.
  • Reduced the stamina advantage requirement of some ground and pound transitions:
    • From Postured Full Guard to Stack Guard: 50 to 10
    • Stack Guard to Half Guard: 10 to 5
    • Stack Guard to Side Control: 25 to 10
  • Fixed an issue with the D’arce struggle animation temporarily hiding other actions.
  • Added a heel hook entry to the top stack guard ground and pound position.
    • It requires “Heel Hook Level 1,” and, according to how the ground and pound submissions shall work after this patch, it also requires a health event.
    • The input is:
      • Playstation: L2 + R1 + DOWN on the Right Stick
      • Xbox: LT + RB + DOWN on the Right Stick is
  • Allowed the muscle modifier to be used in the transitions from bottom mount to bottom back mount.
    • The mount feels slightly too strong after some recent ground and pound tuning. This new change is designed as an authentic and dynamic option for the bottom fighter. Its viability will likely depend on whether the attacker is more dangerous with ground and pound or submissions, as spending a lot of stamina to turn your back will mean playing with fire against the threat of a rear naked choke or armbar.
  • Slightly reduced facial redness during submissions.

MISC. ADDITIONS AND UPDATES

  • New vanity rewards
  • Fixed some incorrect vanity descriptions
  • Added simplified explanations to the rewards screen to describe where a reward was earned from
  • Added the ability to purchase Online Career XP Boosts in the in-game store
  • Fixed several rare crashes
  • Fixed some visual glitches in the Store tab

Stay tuned for more UFC 5 updates here on MP1st!

The Outlast Trials Review – Experiments in Cooperative Horror

The Outlast Trials is the type of game that clearly stands proud alongside the other episodes of a popular franchise, and yet manages to boast this unique identity. It’s a remarkable horror game that does what very few can, which is to deliver a frightening and atmospheric experience in both single-player and cooperative modes. However, multiplayer is not imposed on you, although it can considerably ramp up the excitement and change your approach to each stage. It’s The Purge meets Saw, doesn’t hold back on the gore and the mature content, but there are some frustrating moments making it fall short of brilliance.

Welcome to the Madhouse

Adopting an approach that somewhat ditches the narrative focus of the two previous main games, The Outlast Trials has a more fragmented take on the story, which isn’t to say that there isn’t one. You and other players are true lab rats at the Murkoff Corporation, subjected to various types of testing, and the successful ones will earn the right to be released back into society, unimaginable traumas be damned.

In a sense, this is a terrific excuse to deliver some standalone survival horror scenarios that are optimized to their fullest, no strings attached, no huge narrative arc or pace requirements hindering their design. Although there is a sequence to unlock the more advanced stages, you often get to pick from a couple of challenges, allowing you to take a rest from a particularly demanding map.

The Outlast Trials Review

Before you reach the laboratory where all the human guinea pigs idle until they pick the next trial, there’s a tutorial of sorts introducing the main mechanics and overall atmosphere of the game. Far from a rushed and basic start, this is a little horror adventure in itself, claustrophobic and unnerving as few, setting the tone for what is to come. This is Outlast indeed, the same competent and gripping gameplay style, but with more hide and not seek, more confined, and playing with the shadows as it did before.

The facility is your hub, the place where you get a cell just for you. Unexpectedly, there is a little customization game in here, as you get to decorate the room with items such as carpets and assorted ornaments purchased with the money you earn after completing a trial. More importantly, this is where some NPCs will sell you augmentations of various types to use during the trials or plain and simple to enhance your abilities permanently.

The design of the locations is impressive, details abound and give each one an oppressive and deranged feel, like out of the most twisted of nightmares. From police stations to orphanages with an excess of mannequins who are creepy enough, let alone when they start moving in often shocking ways, there is a lot of detail to appreciate if you are into boundless horror. There are quests to achieve in order, sometimes with a few randomized elements (items in different places, doors locked, key locations…) to improve replayability, but you won’t feel lost and without knowing what you should be aiming for next; on the other hand, the maps end up being more labyrinthine than expected, and it’s incredibly easy to lose our bearings and run like a headless chicken more often than not. Even if the game does a good job at pointing out objectives in the vicinity, the amount of doors and passages in these enclosed spaces are simply too many, and a great ability to memorize the area is recommended.

The Outlast Trials Review

When it gets dark, it gets dark. Night vision is your best friend, but handle with care because it drains quickly and you have to find batteries to recharge it. The angst of being completely in the dark, as you see the ghouly enemies creep by a couple of steps from you is second to none, and this is one of the things that the Outlast series is renowned for.

There will be lots of hiding, lots of running for your life and trying to find a dark spot to rest a bit and resume the quest, and this cycle is persistent. It is a stressful game, not recommended for players with a history of anxiety, you can really feel the nerves and this disturbing sensation settling in, a sign that it is doing what it was setting out to do. At times, it could be too much of the same thing, the urge to get back to our quest stopped by these persistent and pretty much unbeatable enemies, although you can use some abilities to halt their progress temporarily.

It’s also a difficult experience, most of the levels are fairly large, there’s little margin for error and playing solo is doable, but sometimes frustrating and definitely challenging. All the enemies will be on the lookout for you, and quitting halfway will erase your trial progress, which is problematic for those who were hoping for short sessions. The multiplayer experience is where you can take advantage of companions who are serving as bait, making for a different type of rush where it almost feels like no one pauses to take a breather. On the other hand, as you learn the layouts, the order of the objectives, and the little differences between each run, all of it becomes engraved in your brain and the potential for speedruns is unlocked, as this is a game where time and other factors are evaluated at the end.

Horror to Outlast

The Outlast Trials Review

Based on an actually scary and not entirely fictitious tale – it’s easy to spot some influences here and there, minus the supernatural elements – The Outlast Trials is an unexpected but successful entry in one of the best horror series of the last decade. If you are wary of the multiplayer focus, don’t be, as these trials are great for atmospheric solo runs and gruesome sights that are not for the faint of heart, so do yourself a favor and become a human guinea pig if you like shocking experiences.

Score: 8.5/10

Pros:

  • The scary hide and don’t breathe Outlast gameplay remains exciting
  • Extremely gruesome and violent, with a terrific atmosphere
  • Can be enjoyed both in solo or multiplayer
  • Sound design is amazing

Cons:

  • Solo can be a bit too challenging
  • Some maps are too focused on labyrinthine design

WWE 2K24 Update 1.002 Grapples Out This March 4

Visual Concepts has begun rolling out WWE 2K24 Update 1.002 (1.02 on PS4), the second update the studio released during early access. Here’s everything we know that’s included.

WWE 2K24 Update 1.002 Patch Notes | WWE 2K24 Update 1.02 Patch Notes

Size: 1.13 GB PS5, 3 GB Xbox

Update: Full patch notes are now live!

  • Improvements to overall stability and other minor fixes have been made to enhance the user experience.
  • Updated the crowd animations for Jey Uso’s entrance
  • Addressed reported concerns related to The Fiend’s boots when modifying their color in Create-a-Superstar
  • Addressed reported concerns of custom MITB briefcases not showing in rivalry actions within Universe Mode
  • Addressed reported concerns related to walking up the ramp in Create-a-Moveset when the match type is set to Hell in a Cell
  • Addressed reported concerns of both eye colors changing while only editing one
  • Addressed reported concerns of custom videos not appearing in Royal Rumble matches
  • Addressed reported concerns of the game soft locking if subtitles were enabled before entering the Performance Center for the first time
  • Updated Gallus’ trio entrance so they walk together
  • Addressed reported concerns with multiple images not appearing properly within Create-an-Arena

Original story:

Visual Concepts has yet to release any official notes or acknowledge that there is a new update for early-access buyers. However, the PS4 history log mentions the improvements listed above.

Considering several bugs and crashes have been reported for WWE 2K24 during its early launch (via Discord), we aren’t surprised to see a patch relating to better performance and other fixes.

We noted in our review that framerate during character intros on the PS5 did have dips, with the day one update seemingly addressing most of it. That does seem to be the least of the concerns, though, as users on Discord have reported broken creation features, with crashes accompanying. One can hope that this update improves and fixes those issues.

If Visual Concepts releases any official patch notes on this update, we’ll be sure to update the post with those full notes.

  • The current character’s time played is displayed at the bottom of the profile.

BUG FIXES

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where the Seneschal gained double the benefit from skills that benefit allies, such as Barbarian’s War Cry or Druid’s Blood Howl.
  • Fixed an issue where an attack that swaps from melee to Crossbow would double the bonuses from the Precision and Weapon Mastery Rogue passives.
  • Fixed an issue where some interactable objects associated with various quests, such as Lyndon’s Stash during the Discretionary Spending quest, could not be interacted with while mounted.
  • Fixed an issue where the camera would not reset if the player died during the Echo of Lilith encounter while the camera was zoomed out.
  • Fixed an issue where the Juggernaut Aspect didn’t apply armor while the player was mounted.
  • Fixed an issue where the Guaranteed Overpower granted by the Druid’s Enhanced Pulverize did not apply immediately after acquiring 12 stacks.
  • Fixed and issue where the Necromancer’s Skeleton Reapers’ chance to create a corpse was based on Lucky Hit instead of a flat percentage.
  • Fixed an issue where Bone Splinters cast from the shattered Spirit Aspect didn’t receive the Vulnerable effect granted by Initiate’s Bone Splinter.
  • Fixed an issue where Thorns was not consistent when applying Lucky Hit. (Ex: Thorns could trigger Abhorrent Decrepify but not Hewed Flesh).
  • Fixed an issue where the Cult Leader Legendary Paragon Node didn’t properly give bonus damage based on bonus minion Attack Speed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Rotting Aspect wouldn’t spawn additional corpses.
  • Fixed an issue where Sorcerer’s Frigid Fate and Elemental Summoner Legendary Paragon effects did not work properly with the Aspect of the Elements.
  • Fixed an issue where the Fiery Surge Passive was not granting as much mana regeneration as it should.
  • Fixed an issue where bonus damage from Enhanced Caltrops could apply more often than intended when stacking multiple casts of Caltrops on the same enemy.
  • Fixed an issue where Enhanced Caltrops was dealing less damage than expected to bosses.

Developer’s Note: Some items, Legendary Aspects, Passives, Paragon bonuses, and Skills displayed bugs that allowed players to gain more power than intended when you equipped and then unequipped them. We believe these interactions lead to a worse experience for all players, as it creates a stigma that these bugs must be exploited to reach new levels of power. The bug fixes below address all known instances of this issue.

  • Fixed an issue with multiple Legendary Aspects where equipping duplicate Aspects would always apply the effect of the first equipped Aspect, ignoring the rule of applying only the strongest equipped Aspect.
  • Fixed an issue where unlearning Vyr’s Mastery with the Mage-Lord’s Aspect equipped would cause the effect of Vyr’s Mastery to remain active.
  • Fixed an issue where a power that grants a bonus Stat based on another Stat would not re-adjust after the temporary bonus wore off.

User Interface and User Experience

  • Fixed an issue where editing your profile could also trigger the prompt for adding a friend.
  • Fixed an issue where the description for Enhanced Caltrops was missing the damage cap.

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed an issue where Heddam, the quest giver NPC for Guardians of the Pit, would disappear while Helltide was active in the area.
  • Various performance, UI, visual, and stability improvements

Once the patch is out on consoles, we’ll let our readers know.

Rumor: Respawn Entertainment’s New Game Set in the Titanfall Universe

Respawn Entertainment may be expanding the Titanfall universe with more games, though if this latest rumor is anything to go by, it won’t be with Titanfall 3.

With recent reports saying that Respawn’s Star Wars Mandalorian game had been canceled, many have wondered what exactly else the studio is working on. One such project, as previously confirmed by Respawn’s boss, Vince Zampella, was one led by game director Steve Fukuda. There were no details outside of a very small team working on said project at the time of the confirmation.

It’s been nearly a year since we last heard about it, and though there’s still much to be revealed about it, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb did let out that his sources are saying that this game is set in the Titanfall universe.

This game, as it stands today, as far as I understand, is a ‘Titanfall game’, it’s in the Titanfall universe. But everyone I talk to keeps saying, well it’s not, don’t get in you’re mind that it’s Titanfall 3, like a game with online multiplayer and a single-player campaign. I’m like, well wait, what, then how is, what is this game? I still don’t know.” Jeff said in the latest Game Mess Morning episode.

He goes on to say that while it’s in a prototype phase, the team has expanded to something wider with it, indicating that this may now become a real thing.

As puzzling as it is to have a game set in the Titanfall universe, rather than make a new Titanfall game, this wouldn’t be the first time the studio doing this. For those who may still be unaware, Apex Legends is set in the same universe as Titanfall, despite the major differences between the two. This new project could be created in a similar fashion to Apex Legends when discussing the universe as a whole. It could be loosely connected, or it could be fully blown into the Titanfall games but with a different setting and story.

Whatever it is, we can’t help but feel bummed out that this isn’t a rumor of Titanfall 3. Not to say we won’t give this new game a chance, especially given Respawn’s track record of releases, though being tied to the Titanfall universe doesn’t have as much weight as it would if it were a full-blown Titanfall game.

Regardless, we don’t expect to hear much on this title, since from the sound of it, it’s still in very early protoype phase.

Yuzu Nintendo Switch Emulator Shuts Down; Creators Pay $2.4 Million in Damages to Nintendo

After a sudden lawsuit from Nintendo at the end of February, Nintendo Switch Emulator Yuzu is shutting down permanently. Its creators will pay the Super Mario company $2.4 million USD in damages and cease all activity regarding emulation of the Nintendo Switch and any associated services.

This news comes from the official Yuzu Twitter/X account, which posted the following statement this afternoon:

The statement can also be read below in its entirety:

Hello yuz-ers and Citra fans:

We write today to inform you that yuzu and yuzu’s support of Citra are being discontinued, effective immediately.

yuzu and its team have always been against piracy. We started the projects in good faith, out of passion for Nintendo and its consoles and games, and were not intending to cause harm. But we see now that because our projects can circumvent Nintendo’s technological protection measures and allow users to play games outside of authorized hardware, they have led to extensive piracy. In particular, we have been deeply disappointed when users have used our software to leak game content prior to its release and ruin the experience for legitimate purchasers and fans.

We have come to the decision that we cannot continue to allow this to occur. Piracy was never our intention, and we believe that piracy of video games and on video game consoles should end. Effective today, we will be pulling our code repositories offline, discontinuing our Patreon accounts and Discord servers, and, soon, shutting down our websites. We hope our actions will be a small step toward ending piracy of all creators’ works.

Thank you for your years of support and for understanding our decision.

Nintendo filed a lawsuit against Yuzu at the end of February alleging that the emulator had caused a significant loss of sales for many of the company’s titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which Nintendo claimed had been downloaded over one million times before it even launched. Nintendo’s lawyers are infamous for taking down unofficial content related to their products with speed and precision, so it’s surprising that it took this long for them to come after Yuzu.

The creators of Yuzu will also fork over a whopping $2.4 million USD in damages to Nintendo as part of this process. This amount was agreed upon by both parties according to court documents, but that’s a significant chunk of cash for the developers to have to pay. It’s likely that attempting to challenge Nintendo in court would have cost them far more, hence the quick agreement to the conditions.

It’s unfortunate that Yuzu is shutting down. We obviously don’t condone piracy here at MP1st, but emulation is a very important part of game preservation. Tools such as Yuzu ensure that games remain playable long after official support for them has ended and their hardware has grown outdated. Without these tools, price gouging and the loss of specific media as a whole is not only likely, but arguably inevitable.

As of time of reporting, Yuzu’s website is still up, though all of the software’s download links have been scrubbed from their page. We’ll be sure to update readers if the situation develops any further.

Now, for those on PC who prefer to play the game on the Epic Game Store, Rocksteady has confirmed via the official Suicide Squad game Discord channel that the Epic Game Store version of Suicide Squad: KTJL will be out on March 26.

For those looking forward to more of the game’s narrative, Rocksteady has also confirmed that more of it (and Brainiac!) will continue in Season One!

While waiting on Season One to start, players might get a server-side patch in order to help with matchmaking and login errors, but the studio also announced that players shouldn’t expect a patch to be released before the new season kicks off, as the devs are busy prepping the game for the upcoming wave of new stuff.

Chances are, we’ll hear more about Season One within the week, and once we know more info, we’ll be sure to let our readers know about it ASAP.
