Rainbow Six Siege X Update 3.03 Brings Showdown 2 This June 25

Rainbow Six Siege X just got a new patch on consoles and PC this June 25, and this ushers in the Showdown 2 event!  Players can expect a new game mode to be slotted in alongside a new set of operators.

Console gamers will see today’s patch as Rainbow Six Siege X update 3.03 on last-gen, and version  1.000.108 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S.

Rainbow Six Siege X Showdown 2 Rides Out

From June 25 to July 9, dust off your cowboy hats because Showdown is back ! The Law (ATK) and the Graveltop Gang (DEF) are settling the score on Fort Truth once again, so get ready to dive into high-precision 3v3 action featuring BOSG and revolver loadouts.

EXCLUSIVE GAME MODE: SECURE THE AREA

The Law faces off the outlaws ! Experience Showdown in a game of Secure the Area : Attackers win by securing the objective area while Defenders need to protect it until time runs out. But obviously in the Far West eliminating all your opponents does the trick as well.

EXCLUSIVE MAP : FORT TRUTH

Once a stronghold of the Far West, Fort Truth has now become a hideout for the Graveltop Gang. The crumbling old church stands silent under the blazing sun and awaits for what promises to be a legendary face-off.

NEW OPERATORS AVAILABLE

The second edition of Showdown introduces new playable Operators with Flores, Oryx and Gridlock. Pick your favorite Operators from the available roster and head back into Showdown with style.

In terms of fixes included in today’s patch, Ubisoft announced that the hotfix resolved “multiple causes of crashes while including security improvements for ShieldGuard.”

WWE 2K25 Patch 1.16 Adds Dunk & Destruction DLC and Base Game Improvements

WWE 2K25 patch 1.16 is live on consoles and PC, and this is for the Dunk & Destruction premium DLC, which adds a bunch of new wrestlers and NBA players into the game.

This download also includes a significant amount of gameplay, which is outlined in the patch notes below.

WWE 2K25 New Update 1.016 Adds Dunk & Destruction DLC, Addresses Variuous Gameplay Issues

Visual Concepts has released the latest WWE 2K25 patch, and this adds support for the Dunk and Destruction DLC, as well as a host of gameplay improvements and bug fixes.

Players will be able to download WWE 2K25 update 1.016/1.16 now, and this adds NBA players Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, and legend Shaquille O’Neal to the game alongside the Abyss, and the Great Khali. I get why Shaq has been added given he did appear in the WWE a long time ago, but Haliburton and Brunson?

Alongside the DLC, there are also a significant list of gameplay improvements made, which are detailed in the patch notes.

Death Stranding 2 Day-One Update Version 1.004 Released, But Seems to Bring a Potential Issue

While Death Stranding 2: On the Beach isn’t available outside of Early Access until tomorrow, June 26. Kojima Productions has rolled out the Death Stranding 2 update 1.004, and this is a small download and is considered the game’s day-one update.

Don’t expect anything major from this, though it doesn’t seem to resolve one funny bug that players noticed in its early access state.

Death Stranding 2 Day-One Update Is Live and It’s a Mystery to Gamers

Clocking in at just 380 MB of disk space, the new Death Stranding 2 patch has no actual notes from Kojima Productions. However, it seems to have ushered in a bug or two.

On the game’s subreddit, one player has mentioned how the update has now caused the trains to fly.

Not only that, but it also appears to have affected the Performance Mode setting, locking it at 1080p, a problem corroborated by multiple gamers. It’s not ideal, and we expect Kojima Productions to follow up with another patch soon to resolve these two issues at the very least.

One Death Stranding 2 player has seemingly found a workaround for this new bug, and it’s an easy one to do. Simply load the game, and once it’s up, put it in Rest mode. When you boot it up again, it’ll be in 4K resolution glory with 60fps.

We’re on the lookout for any specific changes, but chances are, this is something performance-related that won’t have any front-facing impact on players.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be officially released to everyone on June 26 (tomorrow).

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.008.068 for Patch 1.0.6 Ushers Free Story Pack, Nightmare Difficulty and More

Ubisoft has released the latest major update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows today, and this is for the game’s 1.0.6 patch. This doesn’t just deliver bug fixes, but even a free story pack to all game owners, a new Nightmare difficulty, and lots more.

PS5 owners will see this appear as AC Shadows update 1.008.068, and this is a pretty hefty download across all platforms.

Critical Role

For our second special collaboration, we partnered with Critical Role to bring this new content to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This includes a new free quest called “A Critical Encounter”, a new Ally to recruit and a new trophy/achievement to add to your collection.

New Free Story Pack: “A Critical Encounter”

Rufino, an old friend of Tomiko and Heiji, calls in a life debt after uncovering a deadly conspiracy. While working as a translator, he discovered evidence that a secretive organization has been hiring assassins to eliminate influential commoners.

Now, he turns to Naoe and Yasuke for help in stopping these killers.

*Unlock conditions: Complete “Way of the Blacksmith” and unlock Yasuke as a playable character. This questline will start in the Hideout.

  • Reward: New Ally based on Critical Role’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows One-Shot campaign character, Rufino, played by Robbie Daymond. You will also get a banner in the hideout with the Critical Role logo.
  • New Trophy/Achievement: “A Critical Encounter”, received upon completion of the questline.

With this collaboration, we will also release a Critical Role Weapon Pack inspired by the Critical Role universe, available for purchase in the game store! This pack includes 2 weapons for both characters, a Tanto and Katana for Naoe and a Kanabo and Teppo for Yasuke.

New Nightmare Difficulty Setting

Here is a tease of some changes you can expect from this new difficulty:

  • Player defensive options are less effective, and enemies deal greater damage at all levels.
    • E.g., Parries now require perfect timing to deflect the hit – imperfect parries will only partially block incoming damage.
  • Enemy AI is smarter, faster, and more aggressive in a variety of circumstances, including detection.
    • E.g., Even while crouching, Naoe now generates some sound! And even while in the shadows, she can be seen while moving!
    • E.g., Enemies will no longer become vulnerable from dodges or parries – only abilities can put them into a vulnerable state.
  • Combat resources (like adrenaline, rations, and shinobi items) are harder to come by, making their use even more vital.

Toggle Headgear in Cutscenes – Note that headgear will not be displayed in cinematics or in some specific instances where a rule overrides this setting (romance-specific cutscenes).

VFX Toggles -Players can now disable/enable specific VFX to further customize their experience. These include the ability to hide or show the loot on dead bodies, the last known position of the player, the special attacks indicators of the enemies, and more.

Open World Alarm – We have expanded the Regional Alert System available in Castles to the whole Province. Now by repetitively attacking Civilians or Military units outside Castles, the alarm can be triggered, and a group of Guardians will hunt you in the world.

Horse Camera Presets -You can now toggle between 3 different camera presets while riding on your mount (hold the down button on controller/’X’ key on keyboard while riding) allowing for a more cinematic experience to take in the full beauty of Japan.

Ultra Low Specs for PC – We are adding a new visual quality level, the Ultra Low mode. This will allow PC players with a limited GPU configuration to experience the game in better framerate conditions.

There are also a host of bug fixes applied too, which Ubisoft lists in detail on their website.

Ubisoft isn’t done with the game — not by a long shot. The devs have outlined more updates are on the way alongside the game’s first premium DLC later this year.

PS5 Could Die Early from Liquid Metal Leak, Claims Path of Titans Dev

Sony’s PlayStation 5 (PS5) uses liquid metal as a thermal interface material between the processor and the heatsink. This material improves heat transfer and ensures optimal contact, but because it conducts electricity, it must be carefully confined. If it touches other components such as the Printed Circuit Board (PCB), it can cause irreversible damage.

Matthew Cassells, founder of Alderon Games, revealed a major flaw in the PS5 during a podcast with Moore’s Law Is Dead. He discovered that when the console is placed vertically, the liquid metal used for cooling may leak downward. This leakage results in dry spots on the Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), where the metal no longer contacts the heatsink, which significantly reduces cooling efficiency.

Critical Flaw Discovered in PS5’s Cooling System

As a result, the APU may overheat, leading the console to shut down automatically. Matthew had this problem and tried to fix it by cleaning the console, but it didn’t help.

Additionally, Sony has attempted to fix the problem with a redesign in the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro models. These newer consoles feature ridges around the APU and heatsink to prevent liquid metal leakage. However, it is still too early to determine whether this design change effectively resolves the issue.

It’s important to note that not all consoles are affected in the same way. The leakage does not always drain in the same pattern around the APU, meaning that the severity of the overheating issue varies from console to console. As a result, the impact can be more or less severe depending on where the liquid metal leaks.

Given the large number of potentially affected consoles, offering a free repair program may not be economically feasible for Sony. In the future, the company could face a class-action lawsuit over this defect, which could lead to significant financial consequences.

In other news, the ‘Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation’ in the Netherlands has filed a class action lawsuit against Sony. The lawsuit accuses Sony of artificially inflating PlayStation Store prices by exploiting its dominant position in the digital game sales market.

Battlefield 2042’s Update for June 25 Applies Fixes via Version 1.000.075

DICE has deployed a new Battlefield 2042 update for June 25, which is a minor update that addresses issues on all platforms. Players on consoles will see this as version 1.000.075 on PS5 and Xbox Series, and version 1.72 on PS4 and Xbox One.

Don’t expect any major changes, as this mostly deals with issues a cosmetic and the Arcom Tactical Muzzle Brake.

Battlefield 2042 Update for June 25 Brings It to Version 1.000.075/1.72

Here’s what got changed per DICE:

Due to a visual issue the Arcom Tactical Muzzle Brake has been temporarily disabled on Battlefield 2042 following the recent Update 8.9.0

You may see this disappearing from your loadout if you have already been using this.

This attachment will be reactivated in a later update.

There’s also an issue with Spectre skin that should be resolved too. DICE mentioned this last week:

Due to an issue with the “Spectre” skin for the XFAD-4 Draugr that was recently added in the Mass Effect bundles, we have disabled it. The skin will temporarily be removed from the Scoped & Dropped and Citadel bundles. Players who have purchased the skin will receive a 300 BFC refund at a later date.

Once the issues with the skin have been resolved we’ll bring it back to the store as a free purchase for a limited time within the in-game store.

Those two issues should be resolved with this title update, though DICE hasn’t announced anything about it yet.

In other news, we’re still waiting on the new Battlefield to be revealed, which EA has reiterated is still on track for summer.

Wuthering Waves New Update 2.400.003 Delivers Virtual Crisis: Frontier Trials Event

Kuro Games has a new patch out for Wuthering Waves, and it introduces a new event in the form of the Virtual Crisis: Frontier Trials Challenge Event. PS5 gamers will see the download appear as Wuthering Waves version 2.400.003.

Same as with any event, players can expect new rewards to be part of the incentive to jump in and experience it.

Palword Update 1.075.388 Brings v.0.6.0 Tides of Terraria Collaboration Content

Palworld players can now download the latest major update for the game, and this ushers in the Terraria crossover content! Console players will see this as Palworld update 1.075.388, which the developers tag as the v0.6.0 patch.

This brings a new Terraria Dungon, new equipment, add the Moon Lord raid boss and more.

PS5 players will be glad to know that dedicated servers for the platform has been added too! There’s a lot to take in, so read on for everything new.

Balance Adjustments in Palworld’s Terraria Update

  • Some aggressive enemies have been made friendly.
  • Pal skill cooldowns will tick down even if they are not summoned.
  • The speed and stamina of Pals that can be mounted have been adjusted, and the speed of some Pals that were too slow has been improved.
  • The lineup of bounty hunters has been expanded.
  • With the implementation of the mission system, the rewards obtained from NPCs have been adjusted. To maintain fairness, conversation logs with all NPCs have been reset so that rewards can be received again.
  • Pal Condensation is considered end-game content, so the strength of Axel, Marcus, and Victor on normal difficulty has been reduced to reduce its necessity.
  • The power of some active skills, such as Pal Blast, has been increased.
  • The probability of getting books that enhance Pal’s work aptitude from attribute treasure chests has been increased.

Delta Force’s Console Version Finally Surfaces, Will Have a Playable Event Next Week

It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard anything about the console version of Delta Force, but that changes today!  Even as Team Jade is hard at work on finishing the console version of the hit free-to-play shooter, it seems they’ll be offering some hands-on with it before its release. 

However, there is a catch: if you want to see how the game plays on consoles, you’ll need to be invited, in addition to being in LA when the event occurs. 

Delta Force Console Version Still Has No Release Date, But An Update Gives Hope It’ll Be Soon

Console players hoping to finally jump into Delta Force, there’s still no release date for it. However, a recent update issued by Team Jade on Delta Force’s official Discord channel does offer a bit of hope, as the studio plans on hosting an offline event next week for players to have a chance to try out the console version, which is proof it exists at the very least.

The catch? Well, you must fill out a survey, and I hope you get selected. On top of that, you also need to be in LA around the planned dates. The Discord message reads:

“Operators, We are excited to announce that we will be hosting an offline hands-on event for console players in Los Angeles, USA (only), from June 30th to July 3rd (players can choose their ideal date to join). We invite all interested individuals to sign up. Participants will be selected based on their relevance to the survey’s objectives to ensure a diverse and balanced sample. Probably not the update many hoped to see for the console release, but it’s better than nothing. The last we heard about the console version of the game was in February where the studio mentioned how their main concern was input-based fairness.

If you are in the area during that time and are interested in trying out the console version, then sure, sign up. As for the rest of us living elsewhere, we’ll have to keep on waiting.

Days Gone Remastered Update 1.036.116 Lays Down Long List of Fixes

The PS5 version of Days Gone Remastered received a new update today, which addresses various aspects, including Horde Assault, New Game+, and more. It even adjusts the spawn rates of female Freakers, which I didn’t even know was a thing.

Drifters will see this appear as Days Gone Remastered update 1,036.116, and the complete patch notes are available below.

Those on PC, this patch will appear as version 1,12 and has the same changelog give or take a few items.

PERFORMANCE

  • Crash fixes and streaming optimizations.

GENERAL

  • Fixed an issue where female Freakers were spawning at a higher rate out of nests.
  • Fixed inaccessible Growler locations in NG+.
  • Fixed an issue where the icons wouldn’t update properly when trying to refuel or repair at camp Mechanics.

  • There is now feedback for Importing a PS4 Save on the main menu.

Apex Legends New Update Today for Version 1.000.101 Drags Balance Changes, New Event

Apex Legends update 1.000.101 is now available for download on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and this introduces the Future Icons Event, alongside new balance changes.

Players can also expect a new rewards track, new cosmetics, and various gameplay adjustments affecting weapons, legends and a lot more.

ARENAS: DUELS

Test your mettle in a new limited-time Arenas variant: Duels. Chain 1v1 duels throughout a 5-minute match on a server of 30 players while a leaderboard tracks your performance. Each Legend, loadout, and spawn location are randomized, but both you and your opponent will be mirrored—pushing you to make the best of each moment on even ground. And with abilities turned off until July 15, it’s all about core gun skills and movement. This is Arenas: Duels at its purest. Also a great way to warm-up for those looking to get back into the swing before jumping into their primary modes.

Later this split, we’ll update the experience by turning on Legend abilities for a new and exciting tactical layer. We’ll see who the real Legends of leaderboards are—unless you opt to hide it for some more casual vibes.

Dev Notes: We’re really excited to see the new Electrified Door mechanic added to the game, making it so enemies need to respect the fences that much more. In addition, Wattson’s reduced Perimeter Security cooldown should make setting up fences way snappier and will make it less punishing if you have to move on.

Vantage

  • Shrank Vantage’s upper body hitbox to better match her character model

    • Can now ping up to 3 enemies at a time

    • Pinging an enemy will reveal their position when further than 50m away (was 100m)

Dev Notes: Vantage’s Echo Relocation improvements should make her feel way snappier, and we’ve been having lots of fun playing with the new version of Echo internally. Lining up shots in those late-game scenarios with Sniper’s Mark should be easier now with the laser changes, and being able to upgrade into Gun Shield.

Ash

  • Passive: decreased dash cooldown to 8s (was 10s)
  • Tactical: slightly decreased tether strength when pulling hard (like when using movement abilities)

    • Dual Breach: moved to Level 2
    • NEW Charged Knock: gain HP regen on a knock

    • Greedy Snare and Twin Snares: moved to Level 3

Dev Notes: we want to re-balance Ash this season by tamping down some of the parts of her kit that are frustrating to play against, while preserving the fun of dashing around the battlefield. Lowering the base cooldown of her dash will hopefully offset losing double-dash. In addition, swapping her Level 2 and Level 3 upgrades will bring her double Ult charge upgrade to earlier in the match, keeping you and your team mobile.

Alter

    • Chase portal usage warning delay reduced to 3.5s (was 5s)
    • Chase portal activation delay reduced to 6s (was 8s, Previous Hotfix)

Dev Notes: Overall, we felt Alter teams were a little too hard to punish as they tried to reset through her Void Nexus.

  • Ladder Champion Dive Trail: granted to all players that completed the Ladder Champion placement Challenge in Split 1 and will be accessible for all of Split 2. If you wish to retain access to the Dive Trail, you must complete the same Challenge in this current split.

PC

  • Improved GPU uploading performance, which can increase performance stability and reduce missing models or textures for some players
  • Launch argument -no_render_on_input_thread has been made the default for players with 8 or more cores on their CPU. This improves performance stability and input latency, especially when paired with high-polling rate mice or controllers. It can still be enabled manually for players with fewer CPU cores, and it can be disabled with -render_on_input_thread.
  • Reduced CPU overhead of multithreading on machines with many CPU cores

Respawn has released the latest update for Apex Legends on June 24, bringing the Future Icons event. This update also introduces various changes to legends, weapons, and more.

  • Improved GPU uploading performance, which can increase performance stability and reduce missing models or textures for some players
  • Launch argument -no_render_on_input_thread has been made the default for players with 8 or more cores on their CPU. This improves performance stability and input latency, especially when paired with high-polling rate mice or controllers. It can still be enabled manually for players with fewer CPU cores, and it can be disabled with -render_on_input_thread.
  • Reduced CPU overhead of multithreading on machines with many CPU cores

Paradox Interactive has released console patch #18 for Crusader Kings 3, introducing significant new features to the simulation. Players will see this as Crusader Kings 3 update 1,034, which includes robust character and title finders, UI improvements, and a host of bug fixes.

Fortnite Update 1.000.185 Released on PS5 This June 24

Epic Games has released a patch for Fortnite today, and ti seems to be exclusive to the PS5 based on our inspection. Console owners will see this as Fortnite patch version 1.000.185, and given that it’s only for one platform, don’t expect any new content from this.

Read on for what issues Epic Games is working on, and for details on Fortnite’s update for June 24.

Given the major update we got last wee that brought in Bruno Mars and more, it’s understandable if the next few patches we get are aimed for fixes.

Fortnite PS5 Update Mysteriously Released

So far, Epic Games hasn’t acknowledged today’s patch. The developers did announce something yesterday about temporarily disabling Storm Beasts; Pom Poms in Battle Royale. “We’re temporarily disabling Storm Beasts’ Pom Poms in Battle Royale while we resolve an issue during transformation. The quest ‘Eliminate opponents as Storm Beast’ will be incompletable until we swap it out with a new one tomorrow,” the announcement reads.

Phasmophobia’s New Update Version 1.000.017 for “Chronicle” Reinvents Perfect Investigations

Kinetic has just released what appears to be the biggest patch for Phasmoiphobia today, and this is what the studio calls the “Chronicle” patch. There’s a good reason for that, as this new update, which players will see as version 1.000.017, directly overhauls how players get a perfect investigation, and how you record media.

There’s a lot to take in, so read on for Kinetic’s explanation of the changes outlined below.

Phasmophobia’s Investigations Get a Huge Update via Patch 1.000.017

MEDIA

The core of the CHRONICLE update is our complete rework of how Media is gathered and rewarded in Phasmophobia. A brand-new piece of equipment has been added along with two new types of media – videos and sound recordings – as well as revamped challenges and progression systems.

PHOTOS

In addition to the above, the Photos system has seen adjustments.

  • Maximum Photos a player can take in an investigation has been reduced from ten to five.
  • New types of Photos can be gathered:
  • EMF reading on an EMF reader
  • Three Ghost Forms – Physical, D.O.T.S and Shadow
  • The Photo types below have been moved to Video media and will no longer be able to be photographed.
  • Light switches
  • Door movements
  • Thrown objects
  • Ghost interactions with various objects

VIDEOS

The first new media type introduced in CHRONICLE is Video Recording. Using the video camera, players can capture video during an investigation.

  • A total of five videos can be captured in a single investigation
  • To capture video footage, players will need to hold down the “USE’’ button while aiming the camera at the spot they wish to record. A new icon will display on the video camera, encouraging the player to record.

Below is a selection of recordable media during an investigation:

  • Hunting Ghost
  • Ghost triggering Crucifix
  • Ghost Orbs
  • Thrown objects
  • Doors being moved
  • Ghosts interacting with objects (rocking chairs, gas canisters etc)
  • A light source shattering
  • Ghost blowing out a candle or fire

SOUNDS

The second new media type is linked to Phasmophobia’s newest piece of equipment – the Sound Recorder. Using this new piece of equipment, players will be able to capture up to three Sounds per contract. These are able to be played back from the Sounds page in the Journal.

The Sound Recorder itself will be available from Level 4, with its Tier 2 and Tier 3 iterations available at later levels.

The Sound Recorder can capture the below Sounds during an investigation:

  • Paranormal Sounds
  • A hunting Ghost
  • Singing Ghost events
  • Spirit Box responses
  • More to discover!

CCTV

We have overhauled the CCTV system found within the truck during an investigation.

  • The CCTV interface has been split in to three sections – CCTV Cameras, Video Cameras and Head Cameras.
  • Players can view up to five different live camera feeds at once.
  • While using the CCTV interface, players can record video media from the safety of the truck.

UNIQUE  MEDIA

An important part of this update is to create a more immersive ghost hunting experience by removing some of the frustrations players encounter while capturing media.

  • Replaced the three-star rating system with the new Unique/Duplicate system.
  • During a contract, the first time a piece of media is captured, it is marked Unique.
  • If the same piece of media is captured, it will receive a Duplicate mark and will reward less money and experience.
  • To achieve a Perfect Investigation, alongside usual requirements, players must fill their Journal with Unique Media.
  • Up to three pieces of media can now be deleted during an investigation, up from two previously.

REWARDS & PROGRESSION

CHRONICLE introduces changes to the overall Rewards and Progression system.

Rewards

  • Using higher tiers of the Photo Camera, Video Camera and Sound Recorder will reward players with an additional monetary bonus, per piece of Media.

    • $1 for Tier 2

    • $2 for Tier 3

  • All Media rewards are now included in the reward multiplier.

Progression

  • Equipment and their corresponding Tiers are now unlocked earlier.

  • Tier upgrades are now unlocked in groups of two or three, giving players the choice of which upgrade path to follow first.

    • Example: Crucifix Tier 3 and Incense Tier 3 are both available to unlock at Level 80, instead of 90 and 85 respectively

These changes will allow players to have options for upgrading equipment, instead of forcing a linear upgrade path.

CHALLENGES & OPTIONAL OBJECTIVES

Another part of the CHRONICLE update is our review of optional objectives and in-game challenges. While the rotational challenges will remain the same, we now have the ability to introduce unique challenges throughout the year. These could include:

  • Update launch challenges (such as On Record, live as of 24th June*)

  • *progress from Lights Out! will be wiped and replaced with On Record.

  • Increased XP events

  • Equipment-focused challenges (Sound Recorder, Video Camera etc)

These changes to the challenge system also allow us to override challenges if an issue is found during any given week.

With optional objectives, we’ve made several adjustments – introducing new challenges and changing existing ones. Further changes and improvements to optional objectives will be made in a future update.

Sony Faces Class Action in the Netherlands Over Allegedly Inflated PlayStation Store Prices

Following initial communications, the “Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation” in the Netherlands has filed a class action lawsuit against Sony, accusing the company of artificially inflating PlayStation Store prices by exploiting its dominant position in the digital game sales market.

The “Fair PlayStation” campaign had already been announced last February, offering the public the chance to take legal action in an Dutch court, and the initiative officially begins in the coming days.

With over 20,000 signatures, the Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation has officially launched the lawsuit, which aims to examine the pricing practices employed by Sony in managing the prices of digital games on PlayStation Store.

The issue primarily concerns the prices of digital games on PlayStation Store, which the lawsuit claims are, in many cases, higher than their physical versions, despite lower distribution and publishing costs.

“Many people notice that since the latest PS5 generation, they are increasingly being pushed towards ‘digital-only’ consoles,” says Lucia Melcherts, president of the Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation. “These consoles work exclusively with digital games instead of physical discs. However, economic research has shown that consumers pay an average of 47% more for those digital versions than for the exact same game on a physical disc, while the distribution costs for Sony are lower.”

The foundation labels this practice as the “Sony tax,” where the company leverages its dominant position in the market and its near-monopoly over digital games on PS5. This has been particularly evident with the price hikes of the PS5 and PlayStation Plus subscriptions, according to the lawsuit.

“The fact that Sony dares to go up by tens of percent without any quid pro quo is telling for what the proportions are,” says Melcherts. “Sony is the only digital content provider on the world’s most popular game console. Of all Dutch people who have a game console at home, more than 80% have a PlayStation. It can now afford to make decisions without having to worry much about what competitors, developers or consumers are doing.”

The issue raised is quite significant, as it ties into the well-known problem of digital market exclusivity tied to consoles, which limits both buyers and developers, making them follow the rules of just one company.

It may be challenging for this lawsuit to yield significant results, as the current state of the gaming market appears resistant to change. However, it is important to note that similar initiatives are emerging in the United Kingdom and France. If the European Union decides to address the issue, we may begin to see interesting developments.

In other news, Sony is reportedly revisiting country restrictions for PlayStation PC games, making previously region-locked games available worldwide.

Arc System Works has released Guilty Gear Strive update 1.047 for patch 1.47. This update adds security measures for all network modes today.

Some other minor issues have also been fixed. No character balances have been made in this patch. Check out the full and official patch notes down below.

Guilty Gear Strive Update 1.047 Adds Network Security Measures

An update to Version 1.47 will be released on June 24 for the PlayStation®4/PlayStation®5/Steam/Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/Windows versions of Guilty Gear -Strive- with increased security measures and fixes for in-game issues.

Network Modes

・Added security measures for all Network Modes.

Issue Fixes

・Fixed an issue causing the slow-down effect on the opponent to trigger before the Roman Cancel superflash when activating a Yellow Roman Cancel at close range.

・Fixed an issue causing the slow-down effect on the opponent to trigger sooner than intended after the Roman Cancel when activating a Blue Roman Cancel at close range.

・Updated the Battle Version to Ver.4.06 due to these fixes.
