Xbox 360 Gamers, Titanfall Frontier’s Edge DLC and Game Update 5 Arrives Tuesday

Titanfall‘s most recent paid downloadable content and free game update are hitting Xbox 360 users throughout the day on Tuesday, August 19, says developer Respawn Entertainment.

Frontier’s Edge DLC introduces three new maps — Dig, Export, and Haven — which Xbox 360 users will be able to pick up for $9.99, or simply hit that download button on the online store if you already own Titanfall’s $25 season pass.

Game Update 5, free for everyone, offers up a ton of new features and bug fixes. You can catch the full patch notes below.

New Features

“For this update, we’re introducing the Black Market – where you can buy and sell burn cards. Additionally there are eight new Titan decals available in the Black Market which you can also buy with in-game credits.

“Daily Challenges – Collect three new Daily Challenges every day. You can have a total of 9 active daily challenges at any one time.”

“We have moved Campaign game mode in with the other existing game modes. It will rotate through all maps over and over and you can join at any point.

“Added message when a friendly Pilot with the flag jumps on your Titan in CTF.

“There is now a Gen 1 image which will show up for Gen 1 players in all menus.

“Added achievements for Frontier’s Edge DLC.”

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Titan decal unlocks showing up repeatedly.
  • Removed pre-lobby after selecting a game mode, now you will be taken directly to the game lobby.
  • Made wi-fi hacking count towards Spectre leeching for stats / challenges / insignias.
  • Fixed an issue where you could earn enough XP that it would appear to wrap around and reset your level.
  • Nuclear Eject: fixed a rare bug where an invincible Titan would be left roaming around the level because the player died upon ejecting.
  • Lots of yummy bandwidth optimizations as well as various delicious framerate optimizations have been lovingly hand-crafted and squeezed into the game.
  • Fixed case of being smushed into a solid wall while rodeoing and becoming unable to shoot through the Titan.
  • Fixed many cases of incorrect or missing impact sounds from explosions including Arc Cannon fire and Cluster Rockets.
  • Fixed a server issue when players used the Rematch burn card in areas where they would get stuck.
  • Fixed a case of getting a double lock-on with the Archer.
  • Fixed an annoying case of the party chat icon not appearing.
  • Fixed a case where parties could be split up.
  • Fixed text overlap on controller layout menu.

Latest Xbox One System Update Improves Activity Feed, Offers Mobile Purchases and 3D Blu-ray Support, Now Rolling Out

Never mind those those weird noises your Xbox One console might make throughout the night, Microsoft’s latest public system update is now beginning to roll out to all homes.

The update introduces new improvements to the activity feed, and now offers mobile purchases, battery notifications, 3D Blu-ray support, and the option to turn off notifications during video.

Here are the official notes, courtesy of Major Nelson:

  • Mobile purchase: One of the most requested features on Xbox Feedback. Using Xbox SmartGlass or on Xbox.com, you can remotely purchase games and Add-on content. No more waiting to begin downloading when you get home – if your console is set to automatically take updates, your console will begin downloading your purchase.
  • Activity feed updates: We’re adding new ways for you to interact with friends in the activity feed. The interface will change to a single column scrolling list that is longer and includes more content. We’ll add the ability to post text to your feed, and to “like” and comment on feed items. You can share game clips and anything else in the feed with friends either publicly (to your activity feed) or privately (as an attachment to a message). You’ll also be notified when anyone likes, comments on or shares your items. Each user will get a personal feed on their profile, so you can see what specific friends have been up to. And, with SmartGlass, you can see what your friends have shared to their activity feed and “like” specific posts (additional activity feed support coming in future SmartGlass updates).
  • Low battery notification: You asked for it, now a notification will pop up when your controller battery is getting low.
  • Disable notifications during video: Adding the ability to turn off notifications based feedback we heard from you.
  • Enabling 3D Blu-ray: An update to the Blu-ray player app will enable 3D Blu-ray functionality on Xbox One.
  • Last seen time in Friends list: Direct from Xbox Feedback, the friends list will now show how long it’s been since a friend has been online. For example, “Last seen 20m ago: Forza Motorsport 5.”

Members of Xbox One’s preview program are already a few updates ahead with the latest one that went out earlier last week. Here are the details, if you missed it.

Advanced Warfare’s “Combat Readiness Program” Will Offer Practice Bots, More On Supply Drops and 3rd-Person Modes

What was rather ambiguous during the reveal of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer is now becoming clearer as Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey continues to interact with fans of the studio’s upcoming shooter.

On Twitter, Condrey was able to confirm to one questioner that practice bots will be featured in a mode the studio is tentatively calling the “Combat Readiness Program.” Practice bots have been a heavily requested feature since they were last available in Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts and it appears Sledgehammer continuing the trend.

Elsewhere, Condrey dropped a few more details on Advanced Warfare’s Supply Drops feature, confirming that they will unlock multiplayer content through the game’s single player campaign and will offer rewards based on difficulty level. He also mentioned that weapon camos can still be unlocked traditionally, in addition to camos earned through Supply Drops.

Lastly, Condrey offered a few specifics on aim assist in Advanced Warfare and confirmed that a third-person view mode will not be available at launch.

Check out his Tweets below:

Condrey’s been on a bit of a streak with intriguing multiplayer announcements. Earlier, he confirmed that Advanced Warfare will offer a traditional multiplayer playlist that does away with Exo Abilities and Exo movements. He also touched on dynamic maps, hardcore game modes, and prestige details.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hits current and previous gen consoles and PC on November 3.

Advanced Warfare Will Feature a Traditional, Exoskeleton-less Playlist in Multiplayer, Says Sledgehammer

According to Sledgehammer Games co-founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, Call of Duty fans who aren’t to keen on Advanced Warfare’s new exoskeleton-powered gameplay will still have something to look forward to when it launches this November.

Speaking to DvLZStaTion, Condrey explained that the studio is throwing a playlist into Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer that won’t feature the Exo Suit or any of its abilities, offering a more traditional Call of Duty multiplayer experience for those interested.

“…we also understand that some players may want to go back to a more traditional style,” he said. “So, there’ll be a traditional playlist where you can play Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, and others without Boost Jump, without your Exo. So, you and your friends who want to play that way, we’ll have a playlist just for you.”

Earlier, Condrey answered a few questions from curious fans about their shooter, talking about time-to-kill, the lack of any Dead Silence perk, dynamic maps, and more. He also revealed that Advanced Warfare will have split-screen and 10 or 15 Prestige levels.

Does Advanced Warfare’s traditional playlist sound like your cup of tea, or are you excited to try out some of the new Exo Abilities? Maybe a mix of both?

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches November 3 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Sledgehammer Co-Founder On Advanced Warfare Time-to-Kill, Dead Silence, Dynamic Maps, and More

Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey recently dropped by the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sub-reddit to gather feedback on the game’s multiplayer reveal and answer a few questions from the community.

We put a lot out there at our MP reveal during Gamescom,” he told fans. “We’ve spent three years listening to feedback, and I hope everyone could see that we’ve responded to that feedback in a big way in AW. Between the MP reveal keynote and posts by press & fans who have gotten hands on now, I’m curious where we still have opportunities.”

Here’s what he had to say.

On no Dead Silence in Advanced Warfare:

“We’ve got a different, and we what this is better, solution for Dead Silence in the works. If we are wrong, we’ll bring it back. But I don’t think that is going to be the case.”

On more Scorestreaks at launch:

“Yes, more scorestreaks and scorestreak modules to come”

On why Scavenger does not replenish equipment:

“We’ve got a number of perk changes we’ve prototyped and considered. The key is balance, and ensuring none are OP relative to their peers in the group, or across other choices in Pick 13.”

On time-to-kill:

“We’re still balancing but we feel its closer to BO2 than Ghosts. That’s our target.”

On dynamic maps:

“thanks. Yes, some maps will have dynamic events that trigger at the same time every time – we believe that leads to better strategy around how to master the map. Others may have map based score streaks earned through care packages. Others may have both, or neither.”

On multi-team game modes in Advanced Warfare:

“Its not currently in plans for AW for Nov 4.”

On fall damage

“No, unless you boost out of bounds.”

Good on Sledgehammer for getting so intimate with the Call of Duty community, despite making Activision PR as nervous as it likely does. What’s your take on Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer reveal? What sort of feedback would you give Sledgehammer?

Yesterday, Condrey revealed on Twitter that Advanced Warfare will indeed feature Hardcore game modes and that the studio is still deciding between 10 or 15 Prestige Levels. Read more here.

Advanced Warfare Will Have Split-Screen, Hardcore Modes, and 10 or 15 Prestige Levels

Dropping more details on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s multiplayer, Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey took to social media to answer a few incoming questions from curious Call of Duty fans.

The details are pretty straight forward. According to Condrey, Advanced Warfare will feature split-screen play, hardcore modes, and will include either either 10 or 15 Prestige levels — the design team is “still debating” between the two numbers.

The question still remains, however, if split-screen will remain limited to two players, as has been the case in the most recent Call of Duty titles, or if it will allow for four-players at once.

In addition, Condrey answered to one questioner that the team believes they’ve “got the right balance” when it come to time-to-kill and that “it seemed validated at Gamescom,” but the studio has “still got some dev time too,” should they feel the need to make alterations.

You can catch Condrey’s Tweets below:

Thanks, CharlieIntel, for that one.

In addition, if you weren’t already aware, Kill Confirmed and Search & Rescue are both game modes that will be returning in Advanced Warfare multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches November 3rd for those who pre-order the Day Zero Edition.

Is This What The New PlayStation 4 Headset Looks Like? [Updated]

Update

Our initial research didn’t show that these headsets are, in fact, the Y-300P with a Sony licensed design from Thrustmaster. Apologies for the mix up!

Original Story

It appears that the next version of the PlayStation headsets may have been accidentally revealed during a recent Order 1886 Gamescom 2014 demo.

A recent video posted by IGN shows off one of their staff members playing The Order 1886 while wearing a headset that appears to be the next edition in the line The PlayStation headsets.

ssUVrg6

The headset is most certainly one developed by Sony, though it isn’t any of the previous Pulse or the Gold Edition Headsets that they have out of the market right now. It is possible that this may be an early prototype of the rumored Sony Wireless Platinum Edition, which is said to be an improved headset over their previous ones, now with pulse features.

Mark this one up as a rumor for now, as we ourselves are unsure if this is indeed a new headset (though many are suggesting it is).

Battlefield Hardline – New Screens and Details On Gameplay Improvements at Gamescom

As Battlefield fans are getting their hands on Visceral Games’ cops and criminals shooter at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, new details are beginning to pour out of the expo, including specifics on new gameplay improvements since the Hardline’s last multiplayer beta.

On the show floor, Visceral is offering hands-on time with two brand new game modes that general manager Steve Papoutsis introduced during EA’s latest media briefing — Hotwire and Rescue. He even rolled a nifty new gameplay trailer demonstrating the intensity of Rescue’s 5v5, one-life-to-live, hostage rescue gameplay, which you can watch right here. In addition, fans get to take two brand new multiplayer maps for a spin — Grow House, a moon-lit map set inside an industrial warehouse, and Gator Hunt, set in the Florida Everglades.

In an interview with Pwn4Gamers, Visceral lead multiplayer designer Thad Sasser talked about some of the improvements the design team has made to mechanics like the Survivalist Gadget and the way Rocket launchers now work. Based on feedback, Sasser explained that the Survivalist Gadget, previously intended to grant one free revive to its user per life, will now only reverse deaths caused by explosives, including laser trip mines. In addition, the RPG gadget has been moved away from the Mechanic class and now acts as a Battle Pickup. Sasser says this allows the studio to make a bigger deal out of rocket hits, since they won’t appear as frequently. The studio decided that it also didn’t quite serve the Cops and Criminals fantasy by allowing either faction to run around with Stingers and RPGs.

According to a Reddit post by DANNYonPC, some of the new weapons include the K10 (Vector), M249, AKU, MP5, 1911, R0933, Scout Elite, and a new Revolver and DMR. New melee weapons are also present, like a golf club, hammer, and crowbar. The post also mentioned more maps that include jets and helicopters, as well as maps that cater to specific game modes. More interestingly, DANNYonPC also learned that Hardline will feature an objective-based training mode and that Visceral will launch a Community Test Environment, similar to Battlefield 4’s, after release. You can read the full post here.

Furthermore, Battlefield YouTube personality Westie tweeted this image from the show floor, showing a not-so-ferocious-looking swamp boat on the map Gator Hunt:

Lastly, some new screens captured from Battlefield Hardline’s Hotwire and Rescue game modes:

BFH BFH BFH BFH BFHBattlefield Hardline launches early 2015 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Battlefield Hardline X1, PS4, and PC Open Beta Planned for January, One Month Before Launch, Says Visceral Rep

New details emerging from Gamescom 2014 suggest Visceral’s cops and criminals shooter is headed towards a February launch with the game’s PlayStation, Xbox, and PC open beta taking place one month prior, in January.

Speaking to fan site and forums Symthic, a representative from the studio was able to confirm that Battlefield Hardline‘s second multiplayer beta should arrive sometime in January, one month before Battlefield Hardline’s official launch.

“Yes. There will be an open beta in January, a month before the game launches,” said the representative. Adding platform details, the rep explained that “It’s not sure yet if [Visceral] will do the beta on older generation systems like the PS3 and Xbox 360, but they’ll definitely be on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.”

Thus far, Visceral has yet to officially declare specifics on Battlefield Hardline’s launch and second multiplayer beta, other than giving the game an “early 2015” release window when the studio first announced its delayed launch.

Earlier, Visceral GM Steve Papoutsis took the stage at EA’s Gamescom presentation to unveil Battlefield Hardline’s single player for the first time, as well as two brand new multiplayer modes. Watch the 12-minute gameplay demo and Rescue multiplayer trailer here.

Enjoy Better DLNA Support And A Revamped Friends System With The New Xbox One Preview Update

The Xbox One has seen a lot of feature heavy updates since the Xbox Preview Program was launched earlier this year.

Today’s newest Preview update is no different, revamping some features and adding some new ones, which you can see in action by watching the video above. If you are participating in the Xbox Preview Program, you can download this update by going to > Settings > Console > Update Now .

Here are the patch notes for your curious eyes:

  • Parties – The Party App has been re-organized, so you can now see what activities everyone in your party is doing and tell more clearly who is playing in the same game with you.  You can also more quickly perform common actions like muting, joining, or sending game invites.  Also, Parties now have a Party Leader.  This person can change whether the party requires invitations, and she/he can remove others from the party.
  • New Friends Section – The new Friends section has been available for a few early access preview members and we’re expanding it to additional participants enrolled in the preview program. The new Friends section enables you to see at a glance what’s going on with your friends. You can stay up-to-date with your current activities, the most popular games your friends are playing, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to see who has improved their Gamerscore the most over the last 30 days. We’ll continue to roll this feature out to all participants in the coming updates.
  • Media Player – A new app will be available soon that enables you to play media files from either an attached USB device or from a network connected home media server that supports DLNA protocols. The preview version of the Media Player app will initially only support USB devices, with DLNA support coming soon. Xbox One will support more formats than Xbox 360, including support for dozens of new file formats like mpeg 2 TS, animated gifs and mkv which will be added by the end of the year. See below for additional file formats.
  • Xbox One Digital TV Tuner – Announced last week, this new hardware accessory will enter a limited preview program in Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), in advance of its retail launch beginning in October.
  • Stream TV to SmartGlass – Launching first in markets receiving the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner, you will be able to stream your TV across your home network to your smartphones and tablets using the Xbox SmartGlass app. You can also pause, play and rewind as well as change channels, without interrupting gameplay on Xbox One.
  • Boot to TV – Now you will be able to set your console to boot directly to television when coming out of connected standby.
  • Live TV Miniguide – For markets where OneGuide is available, a new mini guide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. You can quickly change channels and see what’s on other channels, while still watching TV.
  • SmartGlass Updates – You can now post status messages from the Activity Feed as well as add comments and share items from both your Activity Feed and from Game Clips. Along with the new comment and share features, a personalized Activity Feed has been added to your profile. Messages have been updated to a new layout supporting a full conversation view. Additionally, we are adding the ability to record game clips directly from the Now Playing bar. Finally, if you upgrade the app directly we have introduced a What’s New page highlighting the features of each release.
  • “Xbox On” in New Markets – Adding support for additional markets to use the “Xbox On” Kinect voice command to power on consoles: Australia, Canada (French), Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Brazil – a top used feature.
  • Country Expansion – We’re doing a lot of work on the back end to prepare for Xbox One to launch in 29 new markets in the coming weeks.
  • Multiple GameDVR Deletes – You will be able to choose multiple GameDVR clips to delete at once in the Upload app.
  • Save your Avatar Gamerpic – A new option is now available to save Avatar GamerPics to your OneDrive.
  • Settings Updates – New options help you manage your controllers and accessories. Also, Instant Sign-In is being moved to Settings, to the Sign-in, security & Passkey area.
  • Bandwidth Usage Display – Located in Network Settings under the Troubleshooting column, Bandwidth Usage will show you how much bandwidth your Xbox One is consuming over a period of time. This is useful if you want to track against bandwidth caps set by ISPs in certain markets.
