Palworld PS5 Version Mentioned as Part of Games List for Tokyo Game Show

Could a Palworld PS5 version finally be announced? While nothing definite has been confirmed by Pocketpair Inc. it seems that the Tokyo Game Show organizers might have just confirmed it before the official announcement.

The CESA (Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association) has listed Palworld on the PS5 as part of its games list for Tokyo Game Show 2024.

Do note that the CESA do sometimes make mistakes, and as such, not everything listed rings true. That said, there is a chance this could be the real deal, and what better way to announce it than at TGS, right? The studio did say they are considering a PS5 version of their hit Pokemon-like game earlier this year as well.

Tokyo Game Show 2024 will kick off this September 26 and will last until Sept. 29. Expect announcements from various gaming companies to take place.

For those not familiar with Palworld, it’s an action-adventure, survival and monster-farming game developed and published by Pocketpair Inc., which was released earlier this year. It was a breakout hit managing to enter Steam’s concurrent all-time records list, and amassed over three million copies sold in less than two days of availability.

[Thanks, Gematsu!]

Valorant Update 1.000.012 Brings Agent Changes, Bug Fixes, and More This Sept. 10

Riot Games has begun rolling out Valorant update 1.000.012 across all platforms. This update brings in version 9.05, which includes a set of fixes affecting some agents, maps, and weapons, as well as bug fixes.

Valorant Update 1.000.012 Patch Notes

AGENT UPDATES

  • We’ve updated Omen’s voice lines and added interaction lines with Viper, Clove, Iso, and Vyse.

Chamber

  • Rendezvous: TP radius increased from 13m >>> 18m

  • Stars: Increased from 4 >>> 5
    • After rebalancing some of Astra’s power away from her Gravity Well and into her Nova Pulse and Cosmic Divide in Patch 7.04, Astra has struggled to be competitive with other Controllers. Given Astra has to choose between fulfilling her core duties as a Controller and using her other abilities, this change gives Astra more freedom to use her other pieces of utility without sacrificing her ability to smoke throughout the round.

Stim Behavior

  • Over the years we’ve heard player feedback that combat stim effects like Reyna’s Empress can feel disruptive when spraying and it makes it harder to hit your shots. We’ve updated all buffs that increase your rate of fire to have consistent recoil control that matches the default rate of fire. This should allow players who are stimmed to utilize their learned muscle memory that they’ve built up from un-stimmed weaponry. This change only affects how the stims modify recoil without affecting the applied spread reduction.

PLAYER BEHAVIOR UPDATES

  • We have updated the existing ranked and Premier restrictions to expand to all team-based modes so that penalized players will be restricted from queueing up in any team-based mode for disruptive behavior.

WEAPONS UPDATES

Ares

  • Revert crouch benefits nerf from standard 25% back to 40%
    • Crouching is better again and is now the same as Odin.
  • Headshot multiplier adjusted from 2.4 >>> 2.5
    • This makes an Ares kill in 2 headshots while within 30m when previously it would have done 144 damage.

These changes aim to make headshot damage more consistent with competitors and to encourage its capability at holding down a location against multiple enemies.

BUG FIXES

Client

  • Fixed an issue where some letters with special characters in Polish, Russian, and Japanese were not returning the correct result when searching using the Search bar in the Spray screen collection page.

Maps

  • Abyss
    • Fixed a spot where you could land on a ledge that is out of bounds on the map.
  • Lotus
    • Minor art fixes around the map.
  • Icebox
    • Fixed a gap where you could shoot through the door frame in A Pipes from Mid Boiler.
  • Sunset
    • Fixed a gap in the retractable roof above B Boba.
    • Fixed the box at Mid Top to display the correct bullet penetration decals.
  • The Range
    • Removed a placeholder object in the vista.

PC

PERFORMANCE UPDATES

  • Optimized threading logic and ordering of files on disk to improve load times. Please note that this will increase download time of the patch and an increase in patch time.

PLAYER BEHAVIOR UPDATES

  • We’ve updated the Riot Voice Evaluation (RVE) experience in certain regions where voice recording is now enabled to ensure you understand the behavioral expectations and technical implications associated with RVE and voice chat.

PREMIER UPDATES

  • Added a button to view the maps available in Playoffs. To see the Playoff map pool, click Playoffs Event in the schedule on the Premier hub, and then click the “Show Map Pool” button in the center of the hub.

CONSOLE

CLIENT UPDATES

  • Progression Screen
    • The objectives panel on the progression screen will now feature Agent gear if there are open slots. Previously, only Basic Training, Battlepass, and Event Pass were featured and left an open slot if completed.

c68eb317b20e0532e78a441d4f5cd20eef3b9e8c-2560x1440

GAMEPLAY SYSTEMS UPDATES

  • Added a new Map Cursor Speed slider which will let you speed up or slow down cursor movement on the megamap and maps for Agent abilities (Example: Brimstone’s Sky Smoke).

MAPS UPDATES

  • New map: “Breeze” enters Unrated & Swift Play queues.

BUG FIXES

General

  • Fixed an issue where the Base Aim Curve setting was being applied to cursor movement on the megamap and maps for Agent abilities (Example: Brimstone’s Sky Smoke).

Agents

  • Ability Targeting
    • Fixed an issue where Deadlock’s Sonic Sensor, Cypher’s Spycam, and Vyse’s Arc Rose could not be placed on some map walls during the BUY PHASE.
  • Vyse
    • Fixed an issue where KAY/O’S ZERO/POINT was destroyed by Shear.
    • Fixed an issue where Shear’s collision would linger after being placed on sloped surfaces.
    • Fixed an issue where Shear could extend over gaps improperly.
    • Fixed instances where Shear’s destruction voice line was not properly playing.
    • Fixed instances of Arc Rose voice line being cut off prematurely.
    • Fixed an issue where the combat report would show the incorrect abilities for Vyse.
    • [PS5] Fixed rare client crash instances related to Steel Garden.
  • Omen

    • Fixed an issue where Dark Cover would move slower than intended.
  • KAY/O
    • Fixed an issue where Kayo’s Ability HUD was ordered incorrectly.

That’s all for today’s update, though expect another one real soon as there’s another scheduled to release at the end of this month.

Multiplayer Maps: A New Core 6v6 Map, Plus Six New Variants

Expect more screaming than laughing as you navigate the decaying forecourt of Funny’s Fried Fun restaurant, then wade through a real house of horrors as the Meat variant Mad Cow map offers foul flooded waters and a real sense of dread amongst the beef. Then prepare for more Shipment than ever before!

Drive Thru (Launch)

Brand-New, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

Order up some mayhem at Funny’s Fried Fun! This killer clown-themed restaurant features its own moving carousel circling views of the dining area and parking lot. Defending the central building won’t be easy, with entry points on all sides.

Mad Cow (Launch) – Variant

Variant, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

You’re next on the chopping block in this slaughterhouse from hell featuring the grisliest meat in the Bay Area. The whole map has flooded, forcing Operators to battle through the muck inside and out.

Five New Shipment Variants! (Launch)

Variants, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

The legendary Shipment map returns in five additional variations! Whether you’re here for a bloody good time (Ghost Ship), ready to perfect your weapons training (Arena Shipment), looking for clear skies ahead (Sunny Shipment), or a more squared-off Shipment experience (Bit-ment), there’s a Shipment variant ready for you. Needing retro-futuristic visuals with your small map chaos? Then enter “Stay High”, the weirdest Shipment of them all….

Arena Shipment (Launch)

Variant, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

Deploy to a weapons training course sponsored by the biggest names in defense alongside local companies like East Bay Meats. The arena is divided between the green and orange sides with shooting targets scattered throughout. Move to the center to get into the thick of it or take advantage of the outer obstacles to fight from the sidelines.

Stay High (Launch)

Variant, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

Get weird in this variant of Shipment featuring bright colors across an assortment of stacked blocks, dissipating as they rise upward to the infinite sky above. Stacks of old CRT televisions and VHS players offer some cover throughout, all set to the same tuned out channels. Stay focused and try not to get lost in the static.

Bit-ment (Launch)

Variant, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

Head to the South Pixel Sea in Bit-Ment, boasting old-school visuals and an eerie overhead topography. Step into an open container to get out of the rain while ambushing enemy Operators and use every pixel available to stay alive while battling for the top of the scoreboard.

Ghost Ship (Launch)

Variant, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

What at first glance appears to be a normal neighborhood shrouded in fog soon reveals itself as the scene of a harrowing ritual. Strange glyphs shine on the ground and the surfaces of the center containers, chains and hooks hanging overhead. Outside the map’s borders, jack-o’-lanterns, a graveyard, and strange lights within the surrounding homes anticipate something more sinister than your typical haunting. Tread carefully.

Sunny Shipment (Launch)

Variant, Core, 6v6, Small-Sized

It’s a bright, clear day on the high seas in this Shipment variant, the perfect summer send off as we move into autumn. The sun’s glare results in more saturated colors including the vibrant blue of the surrounding waters. Lather on some sunscreen and whistle while you work.

Multiplayer Modes: Hordepoint, Mutation, Infected, and Arcade

Game Mode: Hordepoint

First introduced in Call of Duty: WWII (2017), Hordepoint returns to Modern Warfare III! Capturing the Hardpoint and defending against the attacking team might sound familiar, but that’s not the end of the story in this twisted version of the classic Hardpoint Mode. You’re fighting against both the living and the undead in Hordepoint, fending off your enemies plus a horde of bloodthirsty zombies!

Game Mode: Arcade

Arcade returns, enhancing Operators with abilities like increased jump height and the ability to Ground Slam into opponents. Dominate your foes by seizing power weapons including the Sledgehammer with an increased knockback effect, an explosive MORS Sniper Rifle, and other enhanced weaponry for the taking.

Game Mode: Mutation

Embrace the change — no matter how unnatural — with the return of Mutation mode. Take turns playing as a team of humans or mutants in a moshpit of modes. Human Operators spawn with increased ammo reserves and can earn Killstreaks to help fight back the mutant threat.

Mutants forego traditional Loadouts for one of four unique classes:

  • Mutated Leaper: Leap at your enemies and become enraged, gaining faster movement speed and melee damage along with the ability to detect enemies around corners. Toss a Snapshot Grenade to reveal foes to your team.
  • Radioactive Beast: Charge your enemies as a half dog, half demon. Howl to improve the health and movement speed of your allies and use your enhanced senses to reveal nearby enemies on the minimap.
  • Contaminated Sludger: The Sludger obscures sightlines with a Smoke Grenade and can attack enemies with a close-ranged acid blast that pools on the ground and slows its victims. Explode in a large radius of mutant sludge, taking your foes down with you.
  • Camouflaged Sneaker: Become partially invisible and stun and slow enemies with a lethal energy projectile. When it’s time to break stealth and attack, scramble at your enemies with an electrified leap.

Mutants who amass a high elimination count may even get the chance to pursue their targets as the monstrous Mutant Juggernaut.

Game Mode: Infected

Infected returns with The Haunting twist, as infected players attempt to dispatch the living with their claws and throwing knives. One player is chosen at random to spawn in as the infected, tasked with eliminating the human survivors to turn them to their cause. The still-living must use the tools at their disposal to keep their lives intact.

CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE

The Haunting: Hellspawn Map Variant (Rebirth Island, Launch)

The hellmouth has opened over Rebirth Island as devilish tentacles slither their way around the gore-soaked island. A strange mist hangs in the air. The ocean appears blood-red, and the rocky coastal outcrops feature unsettling crimson vegetation.

The Haunting: Vondel Night (Vondel, Launch)

The sun once again sets on Vondel as the moon casts lights and long shadows over the city and its canals. Battle under the cover of night from the Castle to the Cruise Terminal and secure victory via expert navigation of the map’s extensive waterways.

Call of Duty: Warzone Modes

Purgatory (Limited Time Mode, Hellspawn, Launch)

There’s lots of fun to be had in Purgatory, a new squad-based LTM taking place on the Hellspawn map variant featuring a sandbox setting where squads can battle and complete objectives at their own pace. Custom Loadouts are always available, and all Operators receive infinite respawns.

The mode supports a variety of interesting mechanics to enjoy during your long stay, including:

Insane Powerups: Purgatory features excellent loot including powerful Weapon Blueprints and plentiful Killstreaks. Find and equip super weapons from the Arcade mode and gain enhanced abilities from Mutation.

Portals: Peer into the image of a portal to see where it will take you. Step inside to transport there.

Flying Shipment: In this strange environment, Shipment flies over the island on a drivable platform, accessible via parachute, helicopter, and by portal.

Chill in the Safe Zone: Move into a designated Safe Zones to take a break from combat and chill with other Operators. Safe Zones are easily identified by the translucent dome enclosing them. Inside the dome, Operators enter third-person perspective and are unable to deal or deceive damage.

Torment Level: Eliminating enemies increases your Torment Level. The higher your Torment Level, the more XP you earn per elimination. But the advantage comes at a cost: as your Torment Level increases, so does your presence on the enemy minimap, increasing your visibility to enemy players.

Scare Packages: Dropped in various locations throughout the match, Scare Packages include powerful loot and some unexpected side effects. Seek them out and roll the dice…

Terriball: You’ll need to be quick on your feet around Terriballs. They spawn around the map and are found in Scare Packages, too. Shoot, melee, or run into a Terriball to send it flying, instantly eliminating any Operator it hits.

Squads can achieve a victory condition. Eliminate enemies and commend your peers to progress during your stay in the afterlife.

Zombie Royale (Limited Time Mode, Hellspawn/Vondel Night, Launch)

Fall and rise again as the undead in Zombie Royale. Eliminated Operators will become zombies, giving you the chance to seek revenge while taking out any other living Operators you encounter on the way. Zombies gain unique abilities like faster movement speed, stronger melee attacks, advanced vision, a charged jump and more.

CONNECTED CONTENT OVERVIEW (MWIII, MWZ, WZ, WZM)

Weapons Detail

DTIR 30-06 (Battle Rifle, Launch, Battle Pass Sector 6)
Levels: 20, Battle Pass Blueprint [Sector 20]

Eliminate long-range threats with this slow-firing and hard-hitting battle rifle chambered in .30-06.

Steady and powerful, this Battle Rifle works wonders in the hands of a skilled Operator. Its slow fire rate helps you conserve ammo and stay on target, inflicting heavy damage with each shot. Its strong base model gives you plenty of control when building the weapon out in Gunsmith. Throw on a scope to keep enemies at a distance, bulk up its ammo reserves with a larger magazine, and improve its handling speeds with an assortment of ergonomic designs.

Kastov LSW (Light Machine Gun, Launch, Battle Pass Sector 9)
Levels: 18, Battle Pass Blueprint [Sector 14]

Shirking the traditional role of an LMG, the Kastov LSW encourages closing the distance to your targets by pairing a high fire rate with incredible accuracy in Tactical Stance. The weapon also sports a fast reload speed so you can get right back into the action after exhausting its hefty 100 round default magazine. Use Gunsmith to further enhance the LMG, from improving Tac Stance accuracy even more to building it out for longer ranged play with attachments extending its damage range and bullet velocity.

Three New Aftermarket Parts (Launch, MWIII, MWZ, WZ, WZM)

Complete Weekly Challenges to earn the three Season 6 Aftermarket Parts including an explosive modification for the KATT-AMR Sniper Rifle, as well as a pressurized magazine that fires three ballistic rivets for the MX Guardian Shotgun (above), and more.

WZM Connected: All Season 6 Aftermarket Parts are also unlockable throughout the season by spending Arsenal Coins in the Arsenal Store (Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile only), after which they can be used across all games.

JAK Salvo

Compatibility: KATT-AMR Sniper Rifle [MWIII]

A sniper modification that fires anti-materiel explosive rockets that deal significant explosive damage.

JAK Voltstorm (above)

Compatibility: Stormender Launcher [MWIII]

High-voltage electricity is cycled through copper coils and discharged in a lethal bolt capable of hitting multiple targets.

JAK Lance

Compatibility: MX Guardian Shotgun [MWII]

A pressurized magazine that fires three ballistic rivets, one per magazine rotation. Pressure builds while the weapon is idle until the maximum output is reached. At critical pressure, velocity, and precision are vastly improved.

BlackCell and Battle Pass

A three-headed, zombified mutation stalks the Season 6 BlackCell offering with the introduction of Alone, featuring an animated Operator Skin over a static surface. Alone is accompanied by other BlackCell Operators Skins within the Battle Pass, featuring a classic grayscale look that would fit perfectly in a black and white horror film.

BlackCell owners can enter the Season 6 Battle Map through the exclusive BlackCell Sector, instantly unlocking 20 Battle Token Tier Skips and the following items:

  • 1,100 COD Points
  • New “Alone” Operator
  • “Ghost Charmer BlackCell” Blueprint for the STG44 Assault Rifle with “Chromatographic” Tracers and “Cenotaph Slam” Death Effect
  • “Maximum Aspect BlackCell” Blueprint for the Rival-9 SMG with “Chromatographic” Tracers and “Cenotaph Slam” Death Effect
  • “Throat Rip” Finishing Move

BlackCell owners will also encounter additional exclusive rewards within the Season 6 Battle Pass, including:

  • 10 Operator Skins for: Farah (x2), Michael Myers (x1), Makarov (x1), Banshee (x1), Valeria (x1), Slamfire (x1), Dokkaebi (x1), Riptide (x1), Jabber (x1)
  • 6 Weapon Blueprints with Chromatographic Tracers and Cenotaph Slam Dismemberment Death Effects

Players who upgrade to BlackCell after purchasing the Battle Pass will also receive 1,100 COD Points back.

The Season 6 Battle Pass Headline Operators: Farah, Michael Myers, Slamfire

Farah and the legendary slasher Michael Myers lead a lineup of monsters and survivors straight out of your worst nightmares. Purchase the Battle Pass to immediately unlock the “Mountaineer” Farah Operator Skin and “Michael Myers” Operator at Tier 0.

The Season 6 Battle Pass is packed with fearful content, including:

  • 110 pieces of unlockable content (excluding BlackCell)
  • Two free Base Weapons (New Battle Rifle in Sector 6 and LMG in Sector 9)
  • Two New Operators (Michael Myers in Instant Reward Sector and Slamfire in Sector 11)

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 Confirmed in the Works by Konami; Hopes Not to Repeat Vol.1’s Mistakes

Following the release of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 last year, one would assume that a follow up to it containing more of the franchise’s games would be in development. If you assumed that’d be the case, then congrats! Konami has today confirmed that yes, MGS: Master Collection Vol. 2 is indeed in development, though there’s not a lot to share outside of the confirmation.

The news was confirmed by Konami in the Metal Gear – Production Hotline #2 episode that aired today. In it, Jiro Oishi, promotions manager for the Metal Gear franchise, and Noriaki Okamura, the Production Producer of the Metal Gear series answered fan questions. Naturally, the conversation veered into in catalog of Metal Gear Solid, and Okamura had a lot to say about it, and referenced the first volume’s rather spotty launch, and how they don’t want to repeat it.

Note: the statement below comes from Konami’s in-show translator.

“Looking at the potential titles…Okay, it’s like this. We had HD ports of MGS1, 2, and 3. Or, sorry, not really for 1, but the other two. But most of the titles released after those don’t have a pre-existing HD port we could use. Some are in HD, but those would all be really big titles, and that comes with its own set of issues. So with all these factors to consider with the lineup, anything along the lines of “what’s in it?” Or questions like “how long will it be in development, when’ll it be out…” It’s going to be a little while until we can get a clear picture, but when we do, we’ll let you know here. Of course, we called the first one Vol. 1, so we are making a Vol. 2, that much is for sure. We’re also worried about how Vol. 1 had a pretty rough launch, with all the issues, so we’re going to do everything we can not to repeat that, but we just have to ask for everyone to give us time. And, you know… I feel like I can already see the comments. We’re probably getting blasted with “you didn’t answer squat!”, and I knew that was pretty likely. But I just kind of want to say, even if we can’t share much, we still want to check in with everyone. We feel like that’s sort of what we want the Production Hotline to be.”

You can watch Okamura talk about it around the 14:55 mark of the video below.

Based on Okamura’s statement, it’ll be quite some time before we see MGS: Master Collection Vol. 2 see the light of day. Of course, with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater waiting in the wings, that should make the wait a wee bit easier. While that game has no release date announced just yet, GameStop listed it for November. Could we be getting an announcement at this year’s Tokyo Game Show?

As for MGS: Master Collection Vol. 1, if you haven’t played it yet, go read our review of it here to see if it’s worth a pick up.

The Black Ops 6 Beta Is Now the “Biggest Call of Duty Beta Ever”

While the Black Ops 6 beta just wrapped up yesterday, it seems that aside from collecting player feedback, Treyarch managed to make history as well, as Activision has announced that the Black Ops 6 beta is the “biggest Call of Duty beta ever.”

The announcement was made today where Activision also shared that the beta had the most total players, most hours played, most playtime per player, and most matches played. The data was collected from the early access and open beta that lasted for two weekends.

Given how Call of Duty has a beta every year, and how big the franchise is, this in no small feat. That said, this is also the first beta in recent memory that had early access available outside of PlayStation platforms.

Will this huge beta turnout equate to sales? It’s too early to tell for now.

In other related Black Ops 6 news, Activision has confirmed that there won’t be any campaign early access happening for this year’s Call of Duty game, and you can read on for their explanation here.

Black Ops 6 is due for release this October 25 on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

PS5 Pro Reveal Doesn’t Go as Expected, Community Reaction Largely Negative and Unimpressed

Following today’s PS5 Pro reveal, Sony might have been expecting players to line up, pry open their wallets, and be ready to soak in all that upgraded performance Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Over on Twitter/X, the official PlayStation account’s announcement was met with the following:

There’s a lot more of that, but you get the gist. Not only on Twitter, but even on the PS5 subreddit’s thread for the announcement, people are really not digging what they’ve seen.

It doesn’t stop there. Even on Facebook, the announcement from the official Facebook page had the following responses:

Given the price point and what we’ve seen, I don’t really blame people for feeling this way. I mean, there doesn’t seem to be a compelling reason to pony up more dough just to get slightly better performance? And don’t forget, there needs to be parity with the base PS5, so it’s not like the added horsepower from the PS5 Pro will equate to exclusive games for it.

TopSpin 2K25 Update 1.15 Hits the Court for Rebalanced AI Players

Those who think the higher difficulty players are a little too weak, Hangar 13 has made changes to that today. Included in the released TopSpin 2K25 update for last-gen (version 1.15) and current-gen (1.015) are rebalanced AI (artificial intelligence) alongside other minor fixes.

Per Hangar 13, today’s patch includes:

  • Rebalanced serves performed by AI players at higher difficulty levels to have better power and aiming output when their Serve attribute is high
  • Additional game stability improvements

Yep, that’s about it. It’s a minor patch, and there was a bigger patch released last month as well. In terms of what’s being worked on next, here’s what the devs has shared so far:

  • Rebalanced serves performed by Al players at higher difficulty levels to have better power and aiming output when their Serve attribute is high
  • Investigating the ability for “bad” shots to aim closer to the line on rare occasions to add more variety
  • Investigating tweaks to the Fatigue system in MyCAREER
  • Rebalancing the impact of the Forehand and Backhand attribute and how they influence where the ball lands on the court
  • Rebalancing the impact of slice shots to be more impactful in neutralizing the opponent’s shots (power and aiming)

Chances are, we’ll be getting these changes in another patch released next month.

Former Sony Interactive Entertainment EU President Says Industry Layoffs Not Due to Corporate Greed, Those Affected Should “Drive an Uber” Until Things Settle

In recent years, the video game industry has witnessed widespread layoffs, with over 10,000 jobs lost, leading to the closure of many beloved studios. The impact has been significant, as countless individuals who were passionate about creating games found themselves out of work. Many have pointed fingers at corporate executives, accusing them of greed and refusing to reduce their substantial pay to prevent job cuts. However, Chris Deering, the former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, offers a different perspective.

During a recent appearance on the My Perfect Console podcast, Deering dismissed claims that corporate greed was behind these layoffs. Instead, he pointed to the natural consequences of underperforming studios as the driving factor. He explained: “I don’t think it’s fair to say the layoffs were the result of greed. I always tried to minimize the speed with which we added staff because I always knew there would be a cycle and I didn’t want to end up having the same problems that Sony did in Electronics.”

Deering also emphasized the financial challenges that come with underwhelming game releases. “If the money isn’t coming in from the consumers on the last game, it’s going to be hard to justify spending the money for the next game,” he added. While acknowledging the hardships, he offered advice to those affected, suggesting, “Figure out how to get through it, drive an Uber or whatever, find a cheap place to live and go to the beach for a year. But stay up to date with the news and keep up, because once you get off the train, it’s much harder.”

Deering also remained hopeful about the industry’s future, expressing his belief that it might recover faster than expected. “These things do recover sometimes a lot faster than you might think,” he said.

His suggestion to drive an Uber or take a break at the beach raised concerns, as it didn’t seem to fully acknowledge the emotional and financial difficulties experienced by those suddenly out of work. As one person on X commented, “I had to shake my head with some of the quotes from Chris Deering, some proper boomer shit this one really made me mad.”

Coming from an executive viewpoint, Deering’s response seemed disconnected from the personal struggles of those facing layoffs. The criticism of his remarks may follow him for some time, but with layoffs continuing, it remains uncertain how many more will happen in 2024 or when the industry will begin to recover from this troubling trend.
