Skull and Bones Update 1.000.013 Sails for S2.2 This August 6

Ubisoft has pushed out Skull and Bones update 1.000.013 this August 6, and this brings the S2.2 features such as the Recommended Activities, combat rebalancing improvements and more! Read on for the complete patch notes provided by the developers.

Skull and Bones Update 1.000.013 Patch Notes | Skull and Bones Update S2.2 Patch Notes:

New Feature

Recommended Activities

  • Upon entering the Indian Ocean, a list of active events and activities will be displayed.
    • From the list, players can track these events or fast travel to the event directly.
    • Player can also access the list from the Map tab.

Gameplay Updates and Feature Improvements

Warehouse Expansion

  • Increased warehouse slots from 155 to 160 when player reaches Freebooter.
  • Increased warehouse slots from 170 to 190 when player reaches Brigand.
  • Increased warehouse slots from 185 to 220 when player reaches Corsair.
  • Increased warehouse slots from 200 to 250 when player reaches Kingpin.
  • Updated item filters to allow players to select more than one category of items.
    • Weapon
    • Armour
    • Furniture
  • Players are now able to filter by multiple categories simultaneously.

Combat Rebalancing

  • Culverins’ damage per shot has been increased by about 34% – 50% for non-common types.
  • Long Guns’ damage per shot has been increased by about 33%.
  • Long Guns reload duration reduced to 7.2s (down from 9.0s).
    • Dev note: The utilization rate of culverins and long guns were low, partially due to their damage output. The bump in damage should increase their viability in medium and long-range builds.
  • The secondary effect of “Compagnie Spirits Locker” furniture has been changed from “Increases damage mitigation by bracing, by 15%” to “Increases Brace Strength by 15%“.
  • The damage reduction of “Black Prince” armour has been reduced to 40% (down from 50%) while Hull Health is less than 33%.
  • Any damage mitigation effect coming from food has been changed to increase brace strength instead.
    • Dev note: In a previous update we changed how damage mitigation was calculated, to make the stacking of these effects provide diminishing returns. Since then, we’ve been monitoring the situation, and concluded the total amount of passive damage mitigation reachable on player ships is still relatively high, we’re making these additional changes to shift some flat damage mitigation effects that are passive to instead require more active player actions to activate.
  • Adjusted the upgraded perk on the Brigantine “Headstrong” to trigger at a minimum of 12 knots (down from 14 knots), dealing a bonus of 70% (up from 30%) ram damage.
  • Adjusted the upgraded perk on the Bedar to decrease 180 armour rating (up from 150 armour rating).
    • Dev note: The Bedar and the Brigantine are ramming builds that are more often used for their speed rather than their ramming action. These changes are intended as short-term boosts ahead of additional planned changes for the Bedar and Brigantine coming in a future update.

Bounty and World Events Synchronization

  • Dev note: The exposition of the World Events has been improved to increase players’ access to game activities.
  • Participating in an Elite Warship World Event will automatically add the relevant bounty to the player’s journal.
  • Added first-clear-of-the-day rewards for bounties. Upon the first bounty completion of the day, additional rewards will be awarded to the player.
Bounty Daily First Clear Bonus
Chorus of Havoc Pieces of Eight x 800
The Blighted Bastion Pieces of Eight x 800
Verse of Remorse Pieces of Eight x 500
Verse of Vengeance Pieces of Eight x 500
Silent Death Pieces of Eight x 250
Jaws of Retribution Pieces of Eight x 250
Anguish from the Abyss Pieces of Eight x 250
  • Please note that not all bounties are currently active – the first clear bonuses will still apply when the events/bounties are back in the Indian Ocean.
  • The plunder state of all POIs is now shown regardless of distance to the player’s current location.
  • The side contract at the Huntmaster is now classified as a Bounty that can be accepted and completed at the Huntmaster. The “Oceans Apart” bounty from the Mysterious Rogue at the Oubliette outpost can also be accepted and submitted at the NPC directly.
  • Only the Bounties that correspond to an active World Event are available at the Bounty Board.

Vendor Updates

  • Increased the amount of Ammunition per Ammo Crates available at the Vendors.
Ammunition Type Crate Amount New Crate Amount
Cannonball 10 100
Mortar Bomb 10 20
Buoy Shell 10 20
Ballista 10 20
Bombard 15 60
Sea Fire Oil 30 60
Torpedo 30 60
Rocket 50 100
  • Food, water, and chests can now be sold to vendors.
  • Increased sale price of the following item categories:
    • Raw Food
    • Grilled Food
    • Cooked food
    • Weapon
    • Armour
    • Major Furniture
    • Minor Furniture
    • Chests
  • Added more filter categories:
    • Silver
    • Pieces of Eight
    • Sovereigns
    • “Currencies” (this includes the above 3 categories, Monstrous Tooth, Ethereal Ashes and other event currencies)
  • Players are now able to filter by multiple currencies simultaneously.

Fleet Management

  • Removed Dhow as an option from ship assignment.

Journal: Events Tab

  • A new events tab is added to the Journal, displaying a list of all active events and active plunders in the world.

Display of World Event status

  • Visually display the remaining distance/time of World Events in the map using the border around the World Event icon.
  • Remaining time/distance is no longer shown as text above/below the map marker.
  • Event tooltip has also been updated to show the timer in numerical format.

Sea Monster Changes

  • Reduced Lestari’s and Mega Lestari’s recommended Ship Rank, health and overall damage output.
    • Dev note: It was observed that the time taken to defeat Mega Lestari was longer than intended, and we hope to reduce overall frustration while fighting Mega Lestari.
  • Increased Kuharibu’s recommended Ship Rank.
  • Reduced Zamaharibu’s recommended Ship Rank.

Settings

  • Added a setting option where players can choose to toggle the interaction outline in-game.

    • Pants – Sundown Breeches
    • Shoes – Gloomstriders
    • High Tricorne Hat will be available in a future update

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the upgraded perk on the Hulk, “Ironwill” was previously removed at the end of 5 seconds instead of being passive.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Vindictive” perk of the Snow does not activate consistently.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Wildfire” perk of the Sambuk was not being triggered correctly with the Infernal Maw’s deployed buoys.

A version mismatch between the Base Game and the DLC will now trigger an error message (such as CE-34878-0) when launching. • Select “Information” and verify the game is Version 1.016.

    • If you own the game on a physical disc, insert the game disc and install and update as usual.

      • After installation, highlight the game tile and press the “Options” button.

      • Select “Check for Updates” to get the latest update from the PlayStation™ Store.

      • Highlight the game tile again and press the “Options” button.

Star Wars Outlaws Roadmap Revealed; Two Story DLCs Announced

With Star Wars Outlaws set to be released later this month, Ubisoft is already looking forward, and have revealed what’s in store for the game’s post-launch plans. Players can expect two story DLCs and also cosmetics bundles. Read on for the official details on the Star Wars Outlaws roadmap.

Star Wars Outlaws Roadmap:

Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card – Coming Fall 2024

Kay is hired to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament, but as she crosses paths with the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, she soon learns that another game is being played.

When this first story pack is released, Season Pass owners will also get the Hunter’s Legacy Bundle and the Cartel Ronin Bundle with additional outfits for Kay and Nix plus cosmetics for Kay’s speeder and her ship, the Trailblazer.

Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune – Coming Spring 2025

The Trailblazer’s reputation precedes Kay as she runs into veteran pirate Hondo Ohnaka, who is looking to settle old scores with a ruthless gang of pirates.

Chances are, players will be getting title updates for any bugs that surface or even for improvements. These, of course, aren’t included in the roadmap but should be expected by gamers all the same.

In other Star Wars Outlaws news, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has mentioned that the game’s marketing budget is the highest in the company’s history.

Star Wars Outlaws blasts its way out this August 30 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Report: Black Ops 6 Leaks Stemmed From COD Patch; “Human Meat Shield” Mechanic Footage Surfaces

While seeing Call of Duty get leaked is a yearly tradition, this time around, it seems the people to blame for the latest spate of Black Ops 6 leaks are Activision themselves! Nope, we’re not making this up.

According to betterthanalaix, who was the one where the leaked gameplay footage and info originated from, the Call of Duty HQ launcher got patched and that title update housed the Black Ops 6 beta! While the beta won’t be kicking off until the end of this month, it seems Treyarch included it somehow (perhaps to test something? Make the download smaller?), and this is what the dataminers found by using a jailbroken PS4 (yes, the footage is from last-gen, so the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will definitely look better).

Note that while betterthanalaix references version 1.49 as the patch for Call of Duty HQ, the latest released title update for it was version 1.47 which usherer in the Season 5 content for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone this July 24. We can confirm that patch version 1.49 has been uploaded by Activision on the PSN backend, but it’s not live yet. Chances are, this will be released near the end of the month once the beta preload is live.

Also of note, the downpour of leaked Black Ops 6 multiplayer footage has escalated, and this time around, we even get to see footage of the “human meat shield” mechanic that was alluded to in the game’s reveal trailer!

Check out how it works in multiplayer below:

I have to admit, that seems to be a very interesting game mechanic, and one that’s bound to annoy people who manage to be a victim of this.

Black Ops 6 will have a Call of Duty Direct later this month where we should get the official details on everything, though a ton of info has already leaked, and based on the info above, this is the beta build we’ll be playing come end of August.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be out this October 25 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

NBA 2K24 Update 1.12 Hits the Court This August 5

Visual Concepts has released NBA 2K24 update 1.12 on last-gen platforms and this is an unannounced title update, which is the same as the one released last week for current-gen platforms. Don’t expect any new piece of content for this NBA 2K24 title update.

NBA 2K24 Update 1.12 Patch Notes for Aug. 5:

As expected, Visual Concepts has not released any patch notes for the game, and we’re assuming we aren’t getting one at all. For those hoping for Team USA content in time for the Olympics, I would ‘t hold my breath for it, as if there’s one incoming, Visual Concepts would make a big deal out of it.

For those who downloaded the patch, leave a comment below and let us know what you notice that got changed, though chances are this is for backend improvements that doesn’t include any front-facing changes.

Don’t expect a lot more updates for the game, as NBA 2K25 is out next month. You can check out the different editions that’ll be available, as well as the new features incoming that are exclusive to the current-gen versions.

Age of Wonders 4 Update 1.096.050 Released This August 5

Triumph Studios has pushed out Age of Wonders 4 update 1.096.050 this August 5, and this seems to be a minor update that doesn’t bring in any new content. Read on for what’s new in the patch notes below.

Age of Wonders 4 Update 1.096.050 Patch Notes:

The studio has not acknowledged the title update, but we are hoping this is for crashing issues the game has been experiencing since the last title update released early last month.

However, the studio did post on the game’s official forums regarding the crashes and how the studio decides when to release a hotfix in response to a player.

Now which factors went into the determination whether or not to release a hotfix:

  • The issue occurs due to a repeating ability being paired with Boonstealing
    • This can be obtained through the Hero Skill from Tome of Corruption
    • This can be obtained through the Void Stones Magic Material
    • This can be obtained from Generated Reward Items
  • The Target unit needs to have sufficient Buffs for the effect to Steal
  • The Attacking unit needs to be able to use at least 2 AP

Knowing the above we determined the chances for an AI to achieve this situation to be unlikely but not impossible, and a player would be able to tweak/shift away from the chosen weapon or Hero Skill. Next to that we look at the initial crash reports received after the Update released to further determine how frequent/relevant the issue is.

Now whether the combination of all factors is cause for a Hotfix will change as each situation is different. F.e. a Hotfix was released for Mystic 1.1 as that crash blocked off an entire piece of Paid Content and would occur guaranteed for anybody loading a Arcalot save.

For those who installed the patch, leave a comment below and let us know if this fixes the crashing issues or not.

Sega Files Trademark for “Yakuza Wars” in Japan

Sega has filed a trademark for “Yakuza Wars” in Japan. This new trademark hints at a potential new video game, indicating that Sega might be planning another exciting addition to their lineup.

The trademark filing comes on the heels of Like a Dragon studio’s tease that their next game will “surprise” fans. This has led to speculation about the nature of Yakuza Wars. Some believe it could be a new entry or a spin-off in the Like a Dragon series, previously known as Yakuza in the West.

Moreover, the Yakuza series, now rebranded as Like a Dragon, has seen various experimental spin-offs, including samurai and zombie-themed games. This history of diverse titles supports the idea that Yakuza Wars could offer something unexpected. It could potentially expand on previous game mechanics, like the clan battle system, or even introduce a new genre to the series.

Adding to the excitement, a live-action adaptation titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza is set to premiere on Amazon Prime in October. Furthermore, the series will feature six episodes, with the first three releasing on October 25 and the remaining on November 1.

In related news, you can check out our review of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth here. As our review highlights, it “delivers a captivating RPG experience with refined mechanics and an expansive world bursting with content.”

Marvel Rivals Closed Beta Review – Ready for Prime Time

While there’s no shortage of multiplayer hero shooters in the market, NetEase is throwing their cape into the ring, but they have a pretty big ace in the hole in doing so, and that’s the entire roster of the Marvel universe is at their disposal. If you ever wanted to play as Iron Man and blast away Rocket Raccoon’s face, you’ll be able to do just that and so much more with Marvel Rivals; the upcoming free-to-play hero shooter from Marvel Games and NetEase.

Thanks to NetEase, we managed to get some quality hands-on time with the closed beta, and have this early impressions (or closed beta review, if you want to call it that) piece to tell people how it plays.

Marvel Watch

Let’s get this out of the way first: Marvel Rivals really is like Overwatch but with familiar Marvel characters. There’s no ifs and buts about it, since most of the abilities and supers are derived from Overwatch in some form. The major difference outside of the Marvel characters is that Rivals is in third-person. But other than that, expect familiar Overwatch abilities to be available for certain heroes, though there’s no 1:1 copy (thankfully).

Aside from the abilities, even the stage and game modes have that distinct Overwatch flavor. However, that doesn’t mean Marvel Rivals doesn’t offer anything new and original, as NetEase manages to sneak in some ingenious ideas here and there. Possibly the two biggest changes the developers have made are hero team-ups. In Marvel Rivals, players can choose heroes that complement one another (or be affiliated with one another in terms of story lore) for added bonuses. Say you picked Rocket Raccoon, and another team member choose Groot, you’ll not only be able to ride Groot like in the comics/movies, but you’ll even get an added defensive boost. It’s the small things like this that add a layer of charm and strategy to the game.

Another major change are destructible environments. Now, we’re not talking Battlefield-like levels here, but almost every stage available in the closed beta features destructible environments. In some stages, you can even wreck the entire floor to alter the playing field. These destructible structures do come back after a short time (with a split-second warning before they do), and players can also check which parts of the map they’re in can be destroyed by a press of a button. This adds another layer of strategy to matches, as you can create new attack points or even block areas off with this tactic.

Superhero Life

What Marvel Rivals does best is quite possibly giving gamers that superhero feeling. Who hasn’t dreamt of swinging around and then thumping enemies left and right like Spider-Man? For the most part, the hero abilities tie up to how the character is know. While it doesn’t make sense for some heroes (Hulk comes to mind), most fit perfectly and gives players that ultimate Marvel power fantasy. Want to fly into the air, barrage enemies with missiles and then use your omni-beam to melt them as Iron Man? Yeah, you can do that. How about playing as Dr. Strange and creating portals for your teammates and using the Eye of Agamotto to stop time? You can do that too. This is probably Marvel Rivals’ biggest pull to gamers: letting them create and live out their Marvel hero power fantasy and when it works, it’s so damn satisfying and so much fun. It’s not perfect, and some balancing tweaks are obviously needed, but we’ll let that pass since this is a beta and all.

The abilities work well given the game’s character design is on-point as well. Remember Marvel’s Avengers and the jokes about discount heroes? Yeah, there’s none of that here. The characters are designed after their comic book counterparts, though their personalities seem to be more influenced by the MCU movies, and this combination works. Each character is voiced appropriately as well with some superheroes voiced by familiar actors who have portrayed the characters before (full cast list here).

We (obviously) haven’t seen all the skins, but what’s been released by NetEase seem to fit perfectly with the game’s design and most are skins for comic variations of the character. Safe to say, the game’s character design, voiceover work and how each character is treated are done with care and respect to the source material that there’s little to complain about.

Not Everything Is Marvel-ous

Of course, this doesn’t mean the closed beta experience is perfect. Nope, far from it, as there’s quite a number of jarring tech issues, missing features that affect the game outside of balancing changes.

I’ve been playing the closed beta on PS5, and it seems when there’s a little too much chaos is happening, the frame rate suffers slowdown. It’s not prevalent but it does happen. Are these beta pangs? I honestly don’t know, but we’ll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

There are also small stuff that are worth mentioning: no way to chat in-game on PS5 unless you bind the communicate button to the dpad, no way to add or check the profile of people in the match, no way to mute each individual player and more. It feels like the game was built for PC, and the devs weren’t able to account to the lesser buttons on a controller. Hopefully, these little issues will be sorted when the game is released officially.

On the gameplay side of things, there is no role queue.I am not sure whether this is an active decision that will persist in the retail release or they are eschewing role queue in Quick Play and implementing it for Competitive only. This presents problems, as most players want to play the damage heroes like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch and more. I’ve lost count how many times I had to switch to a healer since our team didn’t even have one. Mind, this is a minor issue that can easily be resolved by a title update, but it’s still worth mentioning.

Another issue I noticed (not sure if it’s just me) but it seems like melee hits don’t feel impactful. I’ve played the Vanguard (tank) class a lot, and each hit I make doesn’t feel like it’s registering even if it does. It created a jarring and disconnected feeling that I hope gets sorted in a future update.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility…

For all intents and purposes, Marvel Rivals is ready to be released right now. Sure, they are calling this a closed beta, but the game is feature-complete and can be played without encountering any bugs that will hinder the game experience. Chances are, we’ll be getting a release date reveal and possibly an open beta very soon.

Perhaps the main concern I have now is how NetEase will treat this game post-launch. Skins and other items are going to be part of the revenue stream for the game (as well as a Battle Pass), but to what extent will it be implemented is anyone’s guess. Will NetEase have new characters available for unlock ASAP just by paying for it? Or will it be more fair? We don’t know the answer to that yet. How will support be handled given NetEase isn’t really known outside of mobile releases, and Marvel Rivals seems to be their first foray into the AAA multiplayer shooter space. If the game does really well (which I’m betting it will), will NetEase change its monetization approach to capitalize on the audience and their wallets? Mobile gamers might be familiar with the company’s past titles, and given their history, that’s not a good thing.

For now, we’re in a wait-and-see mode to see how NetEase handles post-launch content and how it will handle microtransactions officially. But in terms of gameplay and the overall impact of the game, Marvel Rivals’ closed beta proves the developers are on the right track.

Report: God of War Developer Santa Monica Working on New IP

God of War developer Sony Santa Monica Studio seems to be developing a new IP outside of the God of War franchise that put the developer on the map, which might be surprising news for most people assuming the entire studio was solely focused on the next entry in the series.

This information emerged from Glauco Longhi’s LinkedIn profile. Longhi, a Character Supervisor at Santa Monica Studio, confirmed this development. He said:

Santa Monica Studios presented the opportunity of coming back as Character Supervisor, looking after the entire Character Development pipeline, on their new IP, so here I am, thrilled to be back, working again with the crew and pushing Characters in video games together.

Longhi initially joined the studio to work on 2018 God of War and later on God of War: Ragnarok. He briefly left to work on The Callisto Protocol but has since returned to the Sony-owned studio.

The new IP is believed to be the brainchild of Cory Barlog, the director of the 2018 God of War. Additionally, there’s a rumor that the studio’s upcoming project is based on sci-fi, though we can’t vouch for how legitimate this rumor is given we’re not familiar with the individual’s track record.

Meanwhile, a new God of War title is also reportedly in development, likely directed by Eric Williams, who directed God of War: Ragnarok. Job listings have hinted at this, seeking candidates with experience in God of War combat systems.

Given Santa Monica Studio’s impressive track record, the anticipation is high. We will keep you updated with any further news as it emerges.

Report: Bungie’s Feedback Led to Cancellation of The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer Project, Clarifies Destiny 3 Rumors

In case you didn’t know, The Last of Us Part 2 originally had a multiplayer component being developed at Naughty Dog that was set to be released sometime after the game’s release. However, after receiving advice from Bungie, the project faced cancellation, leaving many to speculate on the reasons behind this decision.

Jason Schreier from Bloomberg provided clarity on this situation. He revealed on X/Twitter:

Bungie gave Naughty Dog feedback that Naughty Dog found extremely helpful when making what was likely a very smart decision to not go all in on a service game.

This feedback was crucial in guiding Naughty Dog’s choice to halt the multiplayer development.

The cancellation of The Last of Us 2 multiplayer project might have disappointed some fans, but it appears to have been a wise move. Schreier highlighted the struggles of single-player studios transitioning to live service games, citing Anthem, Suicide Squad, Marvel’s Avengers, and Redfall as examples.

Naughty Dog had previous multiplayer successes, but Bungie’s feedback suggested that dedicating too many resources to a live service project could be risky.

People lamenting this cancellation should really look at the history of single-player studios pivoting to make service games such as Anthem, Suicide Squad, Marvel’s Avengers, Redfall, and so on

In a related clarification, Schreier also addressed rumors about Destiny 3. He confirmed that Destiny 3 was never in development, debunking claims of its cancellation. Bungie had worked on an early spinoff project called Payback, which was canceled.

Just to clear up some rumors floating around, Destiny 3 was not canceled because it was never in development, per people familiar. Bungie did some very early work on a spinoff project called Payback, but they canceled that a while ago

This latest update from Bungie is concerning, but the studio’s strong focus on Destiny and Marathon offers hope for the future. Even if Destiny 3 isn’t coming soon, we should still be seeing support for Destiny 2 for a long time.

Marvel Rivals Closed Beta Cheaters Banned and Named; 190 Accounts Listed

Given how Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play game, the chances of it having cheaters is very, very high given how hackers and cheaters have done the same to other F2P titles like XDefiant, Call of Duty: Warzone and more. Well, it seems the ongoing closed beta wasn’t spared, as NetEase banned about 190 Marvel Rivals closed beta cheaters!

The studio announced and even named (sort of) the guilty accounts, and even gave the reason for the ban, with most cheaters using third-party software to cheat (think: aimbots, wallhacks and the like). If you can’t access your account and see your name below, then yep, NetEase caughty ya!

According to NetEase, they take the issue of cheating “very seriously” and combating cheats is a top priority for the devs. This is very encouraging news, as even if this is just a closed beta, the developers have already whipped out the ban hammer to smite these annoying and inconsiderate people that ruin the fun for everyone.

Stay tuned to our review of the closed beta hitting the site soon! For those looking forward to the retail release, you might not want to play it on Xbox Series S, as the game’s graphical quality declines a fair bit compared to the other versions.

Report: Black Ops 6 Gameplay Footage Featuring Omnimovement, Weapons, HUD and More Leaked

It’s another year, and that means another dose of Call of Duty leaks! This time around, it’s not just screenshots of Black Ops 6 that seeped through the cracks, but actual Black Ops 6 gameplay footage has leaked!

We get to see how omnimovement works, the guns, some attachments and even killstreaks/scorestreaks! The footage was uploaded by Twitter user betterthanalaix with seemingly more on the way. However, I’d advise you to watch it ASAP, as Activision’s legal hounds are seemingly taking down the videos as I write this. Note that we cannot verify if the footage below is from the latest build or an early build, so for now, take it with a grain of salt.

I suggest checking out betterthanalaix’s account, as they seem to be answering people’s questions as well. If you don’t want to spoil anything that’s not official, the multiplayer reveal is officially taking place at Call of Duty Direct this August 28, and once that’s over, the beta will commence, which you can read more about here.

As for gameplay details, there’s already a lot known about it. We already reported that streaks (both kill and score) won’t loop, and a dedicated melee slot for your loadout has been confirmed. When it comes to omnivement, Treyarch has mentioned how it’s not meant to make the game faster, and it’s also not meant to widen the skill gap among players. As for the game’s campaign, expect it to be as long as your standard Call of Duty story experience per Treyarch.

Black Ops 6 will be released this October 25 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
