New Wild Hearts Gameplay Video Shows Off Ferocious “Golden Tempest” Kemono

Omega Force and EA have released a new Wild Hearts gameplay video captured on the PS5, featuring multiplayer combat against the massive Aragane (Golden Tempest) Kemono. The video showcases the enemy’s varied of arsenal of powerful AOE and sweep attacks, forcing players to utilize the Karakuri crafting system defensively and make use of the player rescue mechanic.

Watch the five-minute gameplay video below:

As the Kemono are “embodiment(s) of the power of nature,” (more simply, elemental enemies) the Aragane is a massive lightning-infused felid that uses the power of the wind in combat. The beast is more than capable of handling three players at once: it uses a wide variety of smash, blink, and charge attacks, and utilizes tail sweeps, AOE-damage explosions and whirlwinds to catch players at range. Players are repeatedly forced to use Karakuri structures to safely engage and disengage, and revive teammates in order to keep fighting the devastatingly-powerful enemy.

Wild Hearts lands on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC this February 17, 2023, and can be pre-ordered now. To see more of the game, check out these seven minutes of gameplay released back in October that showcase Wild Hearts’ combat system and enemy types.

Forspoken: All Founts of Blessings Guide

Forspoken’s a magic-focused RPG, and to unlock certain types of magic, you’re going to need to visit Founts of Blessing. Here’s how to get to all Founts of Blessings in Forspoken.

Do note that some of these Founts are more difficult to reach than others. We’ll be recommending what spells can help you reach these Founts more easily.

Forspoken: All Founts of Blessings Guide:

Leap

  • Description: Kick off from a wall in order to climb higher.
  • Location: The Barren Plains, Somewhere Near Cipal
  • Recommended Spells: None

This is the first Fount of Blessing you come across in the game. You’ll see it the first time you leave Cipal.

Shimmy

  • Description: Accelerate by kicking off from the ground.
  • Location: The Citadel, Praenost
  • Recommended Spells: None

This isn’t too far from the path you’ll likely take during the main story, so just head on over to a nearby fast travel point.

Burrow

  • Description: Sends out item-seeking roots. The more loot you find, the more quickly your Support Magic will recharge.
  • Location: Brass Hollow, Praenost
  • Recommended Spells: None

This Fount of Blessing is a way’s away from where you’ve likely been before, so you’ll need to travel past The Guardian’s Way and into Dianthus Wood found northeast.

Soar

  • Description: Climb even higher with multiple leaps in quick succession.
  • Location: The Water Garden, Avoalet
  • Recommended Spells: None

No special parkour tricks for this one, just fast travel to a nearby area and Flow your way there.

Rush

  • Description: Flow even faster with a well-timed button press.
  • Location: Golden Hills, Visoria
  • Recommended Spells: None

You may need to do a bit of jumping, but this Fount isn’t too difficult to reach.

Beacon

  • Description: A light in the darkness that increases the speed at which stamina recharges, but also makes you easier to spot.
  • Location: The Mustering Ground, Praenost
  • Recommended Spells: Soar, Scale

To get to this Fount of Blessing, you’ll want to jump over the castle walls near Tanta Sila’s castle. It’s a lot easier with Scale or Soar, so try unlocking those first before trying to unlock Beacon.

Spoof

  • Description: Evade and leave a decoy copy of yourself behind.
  • Location: Physic Garden, Junoon
  • Recommended Spells: None

To get here, travel past Cipalian way and head northeast past Junoon castle. A site called Ruins of Aspataal will have a path behind it that you can take to reach Physic Garden and the Fount.

Suppression

  • Description: Erases all trace of the user, making them harder for enemies to locate. Sudden movement will cancel the effect.
  • Location: The Moulderdings, Avoalet
  • Recommended Spells: None

This one’s a bit tiresome to reach. From Avoalet Castle, head down to the lake and Glide your way East until you reach the Refuge on the southern end. Then, you’ll want to make your way up the inclines until you reach The Moulderings.

Diversify

  • Description: Allows you to use your crafting skills to add a fourth skill to a necklace.
  • Location: Crosstide Coast, Junoon
  • Recommended Spells: Soar, Scale

There are a couple of ways to get here. One way to reach this Fount is via Physic Garden. On the western edge of the area, there’s an opening that leads to The Wolfwoods. Make your way down and head north to the nearby Depths of Corruption, where you’ll enter Crosstide Coast.

Once there, Glide through the lake until you reach the northwestern edge and make your way up to Fort Chahiye. To reach the Fount, you’ll need to jump to the lower garrison walls before parkouring your way to it.

Float

  • Description: Manipulate gravity in order to soften any fall.
  • Location: Inner Visoria, Visoria
  • Recommended Spells: Rush, Shimmy

Float is found deep in Inner Visoria, and to get there will require a lot of running, so Rush and Shimmy are extremely helpful. From Visoria Castle, head southeast to Academy Hills then keep running South until you reach the fount. Marking the Fount in your map is recommended.

Alb

  • Description: Dramatically reduces the damage caused by a single incoming unblockable or piercing attack.
  • Location: Visorian Plateau, Visoria
  • Recommended Spells: None

In the entrance to Visoria Castle there’s a second gate that leads north. Take this entrance and you’ll find your way to this Fount of Blessing in no time.

Fortify

  • Description: Allows you to use your crafting skills to increase the amount by which a cloak or necklace improves your defense.
  • Location: The Windy Hills, Visoria
  • Recommended Spells:

If you’ve unlocked a fast travel point in or near The Water Garden, travel to it, and make your way northwest to the Fount. The path is fairly wide so you shouldn’t have trouble finding your way.

Unlocking all Founts of Blessing will reward you with the “Call of the Fount: Beatified” trophy. Good luck!

New Xbox Showcase to Be Held in Los Angeles “This Summer”

After yesterday’s Developer Direct event, a new Xbox showcase has been announced to take place in Los Angeles later this year in the summer. While the last such showcase was held at E3 2019, Xbox has not mentioned if the showcase will take place as part of the convention. Bethesda’s Starfield standalone show remains “in the works.”

Xbox and Bethesda’s Developer Direct event revealed the release dates (with fresh gameplay footage) of Redfall (May 2) and Minecraft Legends (April 18), new Forza Motorsport gameplay, and the new Necrom expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online. It also revealed Tango Gameworks’ rhythm shooter Hi-Fi Rush, which was released immediately after the convention through Xbox Game Pass.

While Xbox has been promising a standalone show for Bethesda’s Starfield title, it has also teased other projects in the works to be revealed in the summer. A full-fledged Xbox summer showcase has not taken place in years: the last such event was held at E3 in June 2019, where the studio showed fans a staggering 60 game projects. While it is unlikely that the planned showcase will be of similar scale, Xbox gamers now have much more to look forward to regardless.

As for right now, you can check out the full details of yesterday’s Developer Direct reveals here.

Dead Space Remake Review – Remake Protocol (PS5)

One of the best game franchises that started during the PS3/Xbox 360 era is now upon us with Motive Studio’s Dead Space remake. This is a full-on remake of now-defunct Visceral Games’ sci-fi horror franchise that has been dormant since the release of Dead Space 3 back in 2013. Does Motive do justice to this remake? Read on for our Dead Space remake review to find out.

Note that this review will be spoiler-free since the game’s story is one of its best points. We’re also going to tackle the game from a viewpoint of someone who has played and finished the original (like me), and also considering the experience of someone who’s playing it for the first time.

Welcome Aboard the USG Ishimura

For those not familiar with the story, Dead Space sees the player as Isaac Clarke, a systems engineer on-board the USG Ishimura on what should be a routine distress call. Right off the bat, not everything is as is should be, as the Ishimura seems deserted, and human-like aliens called necromorphs are running around the ship and killing everyone in their path. If that’s not complicated enough, Clarke’s ladylove Nicole is on board, and he must traverse the derelict ship to rescue her.

I won’t go past what happens from there, as Dead Space’s story is easily one of its best strengths. If you’re playing the game for the first time, you’re in for a treat! The story has the appropriate twists and turns without being too predictable, and somehow ropes in religion, science and horror tropes into one nightmare cocktail that will leave you asking questions and a little bit disturbed on just what you played. For those who played and finished the original, don’t fret, Motive Studio has added new story elements, all-new side missions to flesh out the story, and more! Also this time around, Isaac Clarke talks (more on this later)! Motive recorded voice lines for the once-silent protagonist  and even changed his overall facial appearance as well. These are good changes that further add to the game’s terror and helplessness of being lost in space with monsters that want to kill you.

In Space, Only the Necromorphs Can Hear You Scream

Surprisingly, for those that didn’t know, Isaac is now fully voiced in the remake, and by none other than Gunner Wright, who voiced Isaac in both follow-up sequels. This, to me, is the biggest change in the remake, as it gives Isaac a bigger role in the game’s narrative than it did in the original.

The conversations between characters has been completely overhauled to include Isaac, which feel more natural in their delivery, especially now that Isaac can properly react to certain scenes and situations. Some may not like that, especially considering how effective he was a silent protagonist, but honestly it feels like a change for the better. It also helps that Wright absolutely kills it as Isaac in the remake (as do the rest of the cast), giving him a whole new layer of depth we’ve yet to see.

Despite Isaac now being voiced, make no mistake, the Dead Space remake is in everyway faithful to the original, in which I mean you’re going to get scared no matter how prepared you think you are. The original is regarded as one of the most scariest games to play, and for good reasons. It’s so well crafted, that even going back to it today, you can see how masterfully it makes use of lighting, sound, and visual designs.

Yet the remake manages to capture that same bone-chilling sense of fear we got down our necks the first time playing. The amount of times that I would stop in the middle of a corridor because of how pitch dark it was with an eerie sound of a slither somewhere from within the walls or vents. And yeah sure, the monsters are scary, but we found the things we didn’t see to be the scariest, and Dead Space has certainly perfected that craft.

Faithful, But Different

Surprisingly, the gameplay itself stays true to the original and it doesn’t miss a beat! The gunplay, progression, and everything else doesn’t feel dated at all, and being frank, feels even better than some of the newer games out there.

Isaac will have a plethora of weapons to collect, upgrade and use, and each one servers a different purpose. If you think/assume that this will play out like your traditional third-person game, think again. Enemies need to be taken intelligently lest you want to waste ammo. Each enemy type can be taken out using any weapon, but using the right one will save you time and precious ammo (and health!).

Outside of the armaments, players will also need to upgrade their armor (or what the game calls “rig”) and what it can do. Both the rig and weapons all share the same upgrade currency (called nodes) that are scatted throughout the game or can be bought via the game’s in-game shop (actual shop for Isaac Clarke and not the player, as there is no microtransaction-element baked in to make progression and upgrading easier). Players will need all the help they can get, as even in medium difficulty the game provides a challenge. Enemies will pop up from behind, in front and even above you to claw, bite and catch Isaac off-guard.

Thankfully, the scare factor from the original is here in full force. Prepare to be wary of running through dark corridors without your weapon drawn. Dead Space makes good use of light and sound, and doesn’t just rely on jump scares to get at players’ nerves. The story, the encounters the game presents will gnaw at you bit by bit until you feel a certain unease from the sounds you hear while walking through the various parts of the Ishimura (and beyond).

For those who played and finished the original (like me), this adds a slew of surprises to keep you on your toes. Enemy encounters are a lot more random now, there are a slew of new side-missions that help flesh out the narrative, and even if you finish it, there are new difficulty modes, New Game+ and even an alternate ending

Regardless if you’ve played Dead Space before or not, Motive Studio has you covered.

No Nodes Needed for This Tech

On the Performance and Quality mode side of things, the Dead Space remake runs flawlessly on the PS5 in either mode. For those wanting clearer and sharper image quality with some form of ray-tracing, Quality mode provides this at a near locked 30fps (frames-per-second). Normally, I’d go down the Performance route, which offers a locked 60fps at the cost of the visuals, but the 30fps quality mode feels so good, and given the pacing of the game, you’ll unlikely notice the differences unless your trying to find them. Regardless, PS5 players have nothing to worry about when it comes to optimization.

As for PS5 exclusive features found in the haptics, adaptive triggers, and 3D engine, EA Motive wastes no time at showing just how immersive these features can be. From how guns operate, to the feedback provided by the environment, Dead Space makes full use of the DualSense features, once again proving to us that it’s no gimmick and further adds to the immersion while playing.

The 3D audio is also proving to be the game changer we’ve always wanted. Be prepared to jump at every little sound out of the ordinary, which the game employs to good effect.

Outside of a few bugs (nothing game-breaking), Motive has done a fantastic job remaking the original.

Makes Us Whole

Clocking in at around 10-16 hours of game time (depending on difficulty), and not even counting the bonus content, one of the best games of the PS3 era just got even better, and dare I say it, is an early Game of the Year candidate.

Simply put: It doesn’t matter if you’ve played and finished the original Dead Space or not, Motive Studio’s remake is a perfect reimagining of the franchise. This is how remakes should be, and I’m very glad Motive nailed it. Hopefully, this means that we’ll see a Dead Space 2 remake (which is the best one in the trilogy in my opinion) announced soon.

Rejoice, franchise fans! Motive has resurrected the franchise and with style! Dead Space 2023 is a fantastic way to start the year for horror fans, and is one indoctrination worth experiencing.

Score: 9.5/10

Pros:

  • Visually terrifying
  • Sound design and music score are perfect.
  • Gameplay stands the test of time
  • New side missions, New Game+ and more add to the replayabilty factor and helps keep things fresh for franchise vets

Cons:

  • No photo mode (possibly being added post-launch?)
  • A few bugs caused us to force close the apps, or reload from an earlier save.
  • No 180-degree quick turn button

Forspoken: Exploration Tips and Tricks

Forspoken’s a huge game, and while the story itself is fairly short, a lot of the time you’ll be spending in this RPG will involve lots and lots of exploring. Athia is massive, with tons of locations for you to check out, Mutants to slay, and Founts of Blessing to unlock.

To make your travels across Athia a lot smoother, here are some tips to aid you on your journey.

Forspoken Exploration Tips and Tricks:

Markers Are Your Friend

Forspoken’s marker system is pretty handy for when you have multiple points of interest you’d like to visit. You can have up to five of these markers up at a time, and they can be removed from the map all at once by holding the Triangle button.

When traveling to some far-off area, such as a Fount of Blessing or Monument that you haven’t unlocked yet, having multiple markers can really come in handy. You can mark your final destination with the first marker, then additionally mark any Pilgrim’s Refuges or Belfries along the way. This will allow you to unlock fast travel points as you’re heading to the location for potential future use.

The markers are all numbered from 1 to 5 based on which one was placed first. The numbers also appear in the world, so you can keep track of which marker belongs to which Point of Interest without having to open your map all the time.

Cancel Fall Damage With Zip

Fall damage in Forspoken is pretty negligible, but getting locked in the landing animation after a long fall isn’t always ideal. If you’d rather prefer to land on your feet without the ground smashing, you can actually cancel your momentum entirely with Zip.

To pull this off, simply jump off your preferred cliff or ledge, and wait until you’re about to hit the ground. Just before you do, hold the Square button to slow down time and aim your Zip at a nearby wall or the ground. If you’re in range, you’ll Zip as soon as you let go of the button, and you’ll effectively cancel all that momentum from your jump, thereby canceling any potential fall damage.

Of course, this trick isn’t really useful once you unlock Float, which is better for canceling fall damage. But because you’d need to go out of your way to unlock it, and Zip is unlocked simply by doing the main story, this alternative is a lot better for players early on in the game.

Activate Spellcraft Challenges for Magic Parkour Spells

Frey can jump, zip, and leap around Athia using a slew of spells, but to make them even more effective, you’ll need to complete Spellcraft Challenges. These are challenges that you can activate via Pilgrim’s Refuges that, when completed, boost the spell associated with the challenge. Spellcraft Challenges help you boost your damage and support spells, but they’re also very helpful for magic parkour spells like Rush and Shimmy.

By completing Spellcraft Challenges for magic parkour spells, you’ll be able to traverse Athia a lot more efficiently. For example, Float lets you stay airborne for longer, and Rush restores your Stamina completely, letting you sprint endlessly. Completing these challenges is an easy task, too, as you simply need to use the relevant spell a certain number of times in order to upgrade it.

While it may take some time before you’re able to 100% complete every region in Athia, these tips should help make the task just a little easier. For more Forspoken content, check out our game hub.

Naughty Dog “Moving On” From Uncharted; The Last of Us Part 3 Will Only Be Made If There Is a “Compelling Story”

Speaking about his studio’s successes, Neil Druckmann has revealed that Naughty Dog has no plans to create new Uncharted games, with the studio “moving on” from the legendary franchise. Its other franchise The Last of Us is in a similar situation: Druckmann has stated that the creation of The Last of Us Part 3 depends on the studio being able to come up with a “compelling story.”

With a number of massively-successful Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter franchises under its belt, Naughty Dog was acquired by Sony in 2001. The studio followed up its storied legacy with the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises for PlayStation consoles. However, Druckmann feels that there is no pressure from the parent company for Naughty Dog to continue either series, and that Sony remains supportive of the studio’s desire to “follow its passions.”

(Sony) have supported us every step of the way to follow our passions — meaning that just because something is successful, people think there’s all this pressure and we have to make a sequel. That’s not the case.

For us, Uncharted was insanely successful — Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games — and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.

Additionally, Druckmann does not feel the need to create a sequel to 2018’s The Last of Us Part 2 unless there is a universal, powerful story to be told:

Likewise, with The Last of Us, it’s up to us whether we want to continue it or not. Our process is the same thing we did when we did Part 2, which is if we can come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love — just like the first and second game did — then we will tell that story. If we can’t come up with something, we have a very strong ending with Part 2 and that will be the end.

While Naughty Dog may indeed be in no rush to create the next mainline The Last of Us entry, the franchise is still continuing: a full-scale multiplayer game is in the works, the HBO adaptation of the original title is enjoying critical acclaim, and the studio has teased additional announcements to be made in the summer. PC players will soon be able to pick up the remake of The Last of Us as well, which we found “undoubtedly the best way to experience the first game.”

Support for Nvidia DLSS 3 – DLSS Frame Generation and Nvidia Reflex Low Latency.

With the 3.140 release, players can now enjoy the added support for DLSS Frame Generation and NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency.

DLSS Frame Generation uses AI to boost frame rates by generating additional high-quality frames, all while optimizing responsiveness with NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency. DLSS Frame Generation requires a GeForce RTX 40 Series graphics card.

NVIDIA Reflex helps DLSS Frame Generation achieve maximum performance in addition to reducing latency, giving players a more responsive feel in-game. NVIDIA Reflex can be enabled in the graphics menu on GeForce 900 series and upwards.

IMPROVEMENTS AND CHANGES

World of Assassination

We’ve changed several aspects of the game experience to fit the World of Assassination naming and branding.

– The game’s icon, PC Launcher, boot screen and attraction screen (press X to play) have all been updated to the new WOA branding.

– The in-game hub has been changed to accommodate Freelancer and put a focus on the Story. Players will now have a clear choice of ‘Story’ or ‘Freelancer’ from the Featured hub.

– A new ‘LIVE’ tab will be the new destination for the most recent Elusive Targets, Arcade Contracts, Escalations and other fitting content.

– New players will now start directly at the ICA Facility location, as we want them to start their WOA experience from the very beginning.

– We’ve also taken the time to update the sound effects on the ‘IOI’ logo on game launch, update the credits for work done on Freelancer and update our legal line.

Stability

We’ve resolved various issues that could cause the game to crash or be unstable in various ways.

Run Toggle Revisited

In the October Patch, we added an option for players to enable a ‘toggle’ option when they wanted 47 to run/jog/sprint. Now, we’ve expanded and updated some of those options.

HOLD (unchanged)

The player must hold the ‘run’ button

TOGGLE (changed)

The player may press the ‘run’ button at any time. 47’s speed persists even when he stops moving. An icon in the bottom-left will show his current speed.

PRESS (new)

The player must press ‘run’ when walking. If 47 was already walking, he will run. If he was already running, nothing will happen. When he stops moving, his speed resets to a “walk”.

Other changes

Santa Fortuna: Hidden Statue

We’ve resolved an issue where the statue involved in the “Heart of Stone” mission story was not covered, when it should have been.

Difficulty Difficulties

We’ve resolved an issue where performing a save/load cycle and replanning a mission on a different difficulty level could cause the game to not reflect the new difficulty level, i.e additional cameras and NPCs would not be added to Master Difficulty.

Challenge Consistency

We’ve updated the menu ordering to sort Challenges in a more logical manner. They’ll now be displayed with numerical order in mind, i.e Tier 1, Tier 2

(Note that the number of bullets in each tile increases by 1)

Agent Seventeen

We’ve updated the image of the Agent 17 suit that is shown when the challenge is unlocked, to better reflect what the actual suit in the inventory looks like.

Letter Dance

We’ve resolved an issue where the words in the UI or on the in-game map could occasionally ‘dance’ when the player quickly moves the camera or scrolls across the map.

Paris Audio Sweep

We’ve overhauled the audio properties of the Paris map, to bring it in line with the current standards. This work was done last year, but never implemented. The following changes have been made:

– New Occlusion System: We’ve changed the occlusion system and adpted the rooming and soundportal setup to use our 3D propagation tech, rather than 2D. This results in a more realistic propagation from room to room, such as being able to hear the water from the fountain at the entrance when you are in the 3rd floor attic room.
The (iconic) music from the Fashion Show itself now uses an occlusion modifier to ensure a smooth propagation throughout the entire palace without any dropouts. Finally, broken glass windows will now act as soundgates, allowing you to hear audio through them, which wasn’t the case previously.

– Improved Sound Assets and variation: We’ve added new background and 3D positional sound assets to the inside and outside of the palace to add more variation and fidelity to the ambient audio.

– Improved Crowd Propagation: We’ve set up crowd templates and updated the crowd to the HITMAN 3 system, which uses 3D spacialization rather than 2D loops. This means that they can now be heard in the adjacent rooms and from further away, resulting in a more natural and immersive experience.

– Added Impulse Response Reverbs: We’ve replaced our algorithmic reverbs to give all rooms a more realistic set of reverbs to simulate each space, which will make them more believable.

– Full Mix Pass: We’ve created new Wwise events and done a full mix pass on the entire level to the mixing standards that we included with the HITMAN 3 locations.

Ripe For the Picking

We’ve resolved an issue where the ‘Ripe for the Picking’ trophy/achievement from Mendoza could be unlocked in Haven Island.

Hawke’s Bay Puddle

We’ve removed a visibly floating puddle from the beach in Hawke’s Bay. Once we did this, it became apparent that there were visible ‘seam lines’ that the puddle was accidentally hiding. We’ve tidied that little issue up as well now by moving the puddle decals out of the seams together with some vertex painting.

Ripe For the Picking

We’ve resolved an issue where the ‘Ripe for the Picking’ trophy/achievement from Mendoza could be unlocked in Haven Island.

Tres-Paris-ing

We’ve resolved an issue where 47 would be considered trespassing on several stairs between the basement and main hall, even though his disguise was permitted in that area.

Despite this being reported as an issue, fixed, re-opened and difficult to reproduce, we now believe it to be fully solved due to a trespass zone from the stairs above going down into the corridor below where the issue was occurring. That particular trespass zone doesn’t actually go far enough down to reach 47’s feet, so it shouldn’t have made a difference, but now we’ve tweaked it, the issue has reoccurred since. So, there you have it.

Paris Light

We’ve resolved an issue where several lighting issues could occur in the ‘second room’ after the main hall in Paris. Certain lights would not appear, others would flicker or disappear from the room because of their draw distance and shadows at a close distance would also disappear just before the lights, causing a ‘flicker’ effect. Changing light settings or enabling RayTracing made no different to these issues.

Here’s the issue as reported by Hitman Forum user 7_62:

To fix this, we changed the shadow fade length, prioritization and angular attenuation of the lights coming into the room. We also added a light that shows when the light from opening the centre door (seen below on the left hand-side of the screen), which has never been there before. After all of that, here’s what the ‘fixed’ area now looks like:

Mumbai Tower Tragedy

We’ve resolved an issue where it was possible for Agent 47 to fall outside of the map in Mumbai. You could say it was his own fault for subduing an NPC from cover near the Crow’s Guard Tower, but we wouldn’t say that to his face. So, we added a collision box to keep him where he needs to be.

Next Level Blend-in

We’ve resolved an issue where one of Rico Delgado’s guards in Santa Fortuna would become part of the wall in order to surprise 47. Thanks to u/Mawashiro for pointing this one out to us.

No Climb For You

We’ve resolved an issue where it was possible for Agent 47 to ‘climb’ a tree near the cocoa plantation to get out of bounds. If the world’s greatest assassin isn’t interested in jumping, then we don’t think he has any business climbing. We’ve blocked this particular area now.

Instinctive Recording

We’ve resolved an issue where it some security cameras would not be displayed in Instinct after 47 has used the ‘camera’ tool in his inventory.

Camera Conundrum

We’ve resolved an issue where it was impossible to use the ‘Hide Menu’ prompt when using 47’s camera to take a photo near a door. This was because the prompt to do so was the same as to open the door, and this was causing an issue. We’ve simply remapped the ‘hide menu’ prompt to avoid this.

Miami Money

We’ve resolved an issue where it was possible for NPCs to scale the small walls / barriers at either end of the tunnel (underpass) at the start of the level. Thanks to u/S00na-M00na for pointing out this unintended parkour.

Sapienza’s Second Saviour

We’ve resolved an issue where The Prince Elusive Target (included in The Deceits Arcade Contract) would be able to use the same blend-in spot as Agent 47 in the church. We’ve given them both their own space now.

Black Almond True SA

We’ve resolved an issue where the Black Almond’s Dagger (Haven Island Mastery unlock) was missing sound effects when attacking NPCs from any direction.

Hokkaido Stem Cells

We’ve resolved an issue that was blocking players from using the stem cells as an assassination method because a specific surgeon would suspend their routine.

The 47th Universe

We’ve removed the Hokkaido spa as a possible location for NPC’s to be sick. Similar to the Bangkok Bread Basket, it didn’t feel appropriate (Don’t ask us if it ever did).
However, for all your emetic poison needs, we’ve added a new one outside the spa at the bottom of the ramp.

Glove Powers

We’ve resolved an issue where the Signature Suit with Gloves would not get wet in the Chongqing rain. The regular Signature Suit did, so it must have been something to do with the gloves.

Invisible Flash Case

We’ve resolved an issue where triggering a remote flash explosive that was concealed within a briefcase would result in the briefcase remaining functionable, but entirely invisible. Now, triggering an explosive that’s concealed will result in the briefcase being ‘consumed’ and no longer usable.

Legal Trouble

We’ve resolved an issue where 47 would be referred to as “Mr Bravuomo”, the good man from Landslide, whilst wearing the Lawyer disguise in Dartmoor. He should have been referred to as “Mr Ford”, the actual lawyer on the Dartmoor map. We don’t have specific lines for the Dartmoor lawyer recorded, so guards will find other, more generic ways to ensure 47 gets an appropriate greeting.

Controller Layout

We’ve made a change so that the controller layout shown on the Pause screen will now update to reflect a players choices for ‘hold’ or ‘toggle’. These options were implemented in our October 2022 patch but the controller image remained static with the default settings. Now, it’s dynamic to your choices.

Sniper Timer Trouble

We’ve resolved an issue where the Score Screen shown after completing a Sniper Assassin mission would display as 00:00, but be shown correctly on leaderboards. Basically, it was just a visual issue on that first screen. We’ve now fixed things so that the proper time is always shown.

Apron Adjustment

We’ve resolved an issue where aprons where not properly displayed, seemingly meshing with the character model. This issue stemmed from a fix we put it place for a different issue, where female aprons could not be seen from the back, but looked fine from the front. We’ve tweaked and aligned the properties of all aprons to render without clipping.

Rocky Terrain

We’ve resolved an issue on Ambrose where an NPC would clip with their chair when picking up a magazine. This was caused by the chair not quite being aligned with the ground. Similar cases with NPCs standing ‘inside’ chairs after sitting and being distracted have also been fixed.

Missing AI dialogue

We’ve resolved several issues, mostly on Ambrose Island, where certain characters dialogue would not trigger properly. These include missing guard dialogue to 47 acting suspicious in disguise or placeholder ‘robotic’ voices being triggered instead of the final recordings.

Double Wetsuits

We’ve resolved an issue where players would see two identical versions of the Guerrilla Wetsuit in the planning stage after unlocking it through the Ambrose Island mastery track.

Barrel Shadows

We’ve resolved an issue where some shadows from fire barrels, notably on Ambrose Island, would display unrealistically. Changes have been made.

New Feature – Career page Elusive Target Split

On the Career page, we have split the Elusive Target overview between Year 1 and 2. This was made to help players have an overview of complete or failed ETs.

Last Stop

Kicking / pushing NPC’s of the train in the Carpathian Mountains didn’t always count as a kill. It now does, so use it carefully.

Casual Dental hygiene

The Bubble Queen Gum pack is a delicious unlock from the Seven Deadly Sins, but unfortunately it was considered as an illegal item on the Casual Difficulty. This has now been changed, so that you can chew in peace.

PUBG Update 2.30 Shoots Out for Patch 21.2 This January 26

PUBG Corp has released PUBG update 2.30 today for the console versions of the game. This is update 21.2 which was available for PC owners earlier this month. This update includes some new content and gameplay improvements. Check out the PUBG January 26 patch notes.

PUBG Update 2.30 Patch Notes | PUBG January 26 Update Patch Notes:

WORLD

VIKENDI

BLIZZARD ZONE

At some point within the howling devastation of snow, a severe snowstorm accompanied by whistling winds begin to ravage the silent ground. Dare to step into the whipping storm and you shall face pure numbness to your senses – welcome to the BLIZZARD ZONE.

  • Once you enter the Blizzard Zone…
    • You will move slower.
    • You will receive consistent damage per second.
    • Your sight and soundplay will be hindered.
    • Vehicle control will be harder.
  • A Blizzard Zone warning message along with its activated area UI on the world map will show up on your screen during the match.
  • Kill messages for the Blizzard Zone have been added.
  • Available in Normal Matches and Custom Matches.
    • Available in Vikendi only.

< Dev’s Comment >

The fierce Blizzard Zone is now available this update. This Vikendi-exclusive Zone has been designed based on the other maps’ Red/Black Zone’s features, activation phase and location, duration, size, damage, affected gameplay aspects, effect range and more. Watch out as the Blizzard Zone will definitely tatter your health, movement speed, soundplay and vision (including Scopes!) etc. so make sure to duck out of the hazardous Zone as soon as possible!

SECRET ROOM

Scour deeply into the snow and perhaps you’ll stumble upon a SECRET ROOM full of high-tier items.

  • Secret Rooms holding valuable items are scattered throughout the map.
  • Obtain the world spawn item SECURITY KEY to open a Secret Room.
  • Available in Normal Matches and Custom Matches.
    • Available in Vikendi only.

< Dev’s Comment >

Land your hands on items you won’t be able to casually find on the map! Here’s a tip: as the risks are relatively high when you wish to get back out of the Secret Room, we’ve installed something handy inside so try to find and use it for a safer getaway!

REPAIR KITS

Have you damaged your hard-earned armor or vehicle? No worries, the three new Repair Kits have arrived to save the match.

  • 3 Repair Kits have been added.
    • HELMET REPAIR KIT
      • Repairs a helmet to full health.
    • ARMOR REPAIR KIT
      • Repairs armor to full health.
    • MECHANIC’S TOOLBOX
      • Repairs 500 health for vehicles.
        • Can not repair vehicle tires.
      • Can repair every type of vehicle.
        • However, fully-drowned vehicles can not be repaired.
      • Can only be used while inside the vehicle.
        • Can not be used while driving.
        • Can not be used when holding your breath.
      • More than one player can simultaneously repair a single vehicle.
        • However, repairs will be instantly canceled once the vehicle is fully repaired.
  • Repair Kits can not be used on destroyed helmets/armor/vehicles.
  • Repair kits are consumable items.
  • Repair kits will world spawn with a relatively low spawn rate.
  • Available in Normal Matches and Custom Matches.
    • Available in Vikendi only.
    • Repair Kits have been added to Custom Match – Sandbox mode.

MULTIDROPS

The multidrops that were only witnessed in Taego will now be falling from Vikendi’s skies as well.

  • Multiple care packages holding high-tier weapons, armor, consumables, and more will be randomly dropped during a match.
  • Available in Normal Matches and Custom Matches.
    • Available in Vikendi only.

ADDITIONAL UPDATES

  • Vikendi-exclusive road signs that can navigate you through the snow have been added throughout the map.
  • The unused Cable Car station has been removed from the northeast part of Coal Mine.
  • Item types have been updated and spawn spots have been increased in buildings with garages (that can only be opened using Crowbars).
  • A few vehicles have been found to spawn overlapping with foliage or fences, so we have slightly moved their spawn spots to a more open area.

SANHOK

We’ve reflected a bunch of player and internal feedback regarding gameplay in Sanhok.

  • ASCENDERS have been added to Cave and rock mountains.
    • Ascender Attachments will provided as starting items.
  • An additional bridge connecting the northwest island and east island (Bootcamp) has been added.
  • An additional bridge connecting the northwest island and southwest island (Ruins) has been added.
    • Made the area’s water deeper to allow you to swim across.
  • Sanhok themed billboards have been added throughout the map.
  • Sand terrain has been added to certain areas for a more convenient trek.
  • Added even more general cover such as boulders and trees.
  • Terrain and foliage texture have been generally improved.
  • As we say goodbye to the end-of-year holidays, LINE FRIENDS decorations also take their leave from Paradise Resort.

TAEGO

  • Additional boat spawn spots have been added to Ranked.
  • Boat spawn locations have been slightly shifted closer to land for easier access.
    • This applies to both Normal and Ranked matches.

GAMEPLAY

SCREEN PING MARKER

A few improvements to the Screen Ping Marker.

  • Screen Ping Markers will be automatically deleted after 120 seconds (previously 30).
  • A player’s Screen Ping Marker will be instantly removed if they leave the match or lose connection.

REPORT PLAYER

  • Previously, you were only able to report players who killed you or players you’re spectating. Now, you can report players who ASSISTED in killing you.
    • Click the Report button located on the bottom of your death screen → Select the assisted player.

TRAINING MODE

Pretty good at beating up your friends at the 1v1 Arena? You can now show off your winning streak (WIN) starting this update!

  • Winning streaks at the 1v1 Arena will now be recorded after the live server update.
  • The winning streak UI will be shown on the following screens:
    • Lower left of your screen during a 1v1 Arena match
    • Below your nickname on every Round Finished screen
    • Below your nickname on the Match Finished screen
    • Top of spectator’s screens
  • Your winning streak will be reset to 0 once you lose a 1v1 Arena match.
  • A tied result will not affect your winning streak.
  • 1v1 Arena matches that end due to the Training Mode session’s time out will result in a tie and not affect your winning streak.
  • Winning streaks are separately recorded for normal Training sessions and Custom Matches.

UX/UI

Map-related UI has been added to Normal Matches and Ranked.

  • The name of the map you’re playing will show on the screen once you enter the starting island.
  • Map name, mode, and perspective information have been added to the top left screen of the world map.
    • This information will be removed once you board the plane.
  • Available in Normal Matches and Ranked.

LOBBY

  • Updated every map’s minimap image to the newest versions on the map selection page.
  • Certain information has been updated in Career – Overview (Ranked) – About Ranked.

Sonic Frontiers: Next Sonic Game May Not Feature Boosting, Says Game Director

Sonic’s a franchise that’s all about speed, and the fantasy of running through levels and areas at a breakneck pace is what gives Sonic its charm. Part of this high-speed fantasy is the Boost mechanic, but according to Sonic Frontiers director Morio Kishimoto, boosting may be removed in a future game.

Kishimoto mentioned in a tweet that, for Sonic Frontiers, he was unsure about whether or not he wanted to keep the mechanic in the game, and decided to do so in the end. However, Kishimoto does state that he’s looking to make a Sonic game that doesn’t feature boosting as part of its core gameplay.

Here’s a translated version of the tweet via DeepL:

When I started working on this game, I was very worried about whether boost was possible or not, and decided to adopt it. I am still thinking that for the next game, I would like to try a Sonic game without boost.

My favorite giant bosses are the first and second ones.

This is an interesting decision to say the least, as boosting is a classic element of the Sonic games, and removing it may upset players who’ve enjoyed boosting through levels as Sonic for so many years. Of course, the removal of Boost doesn’t necessarily mean that the next Sonic game will be bad automatically, so we’ll have to see if Kishimoto follows through with this idea and implements it in a way that satisfies the fanbase.

Armored Core 6 Presentation in Taipei Game Show Now Only 20 Minutes Long, Won’t Reveal New Info

A disappointing update regarding the Armored Core 6 presentation during the upcoming Taipei Game Show on February 3 reveals that it will only last 20 minutes long. This comes from the new official description of the presentation, which also states that it will only talk about information “first released last year.”

The show will apparently be pre-recorded, too, which means we wouldn’t get any hints even if we asked for them.

Armored Core 6 is a highly anticipated game, with the previous Armored Core entry being over 10 years old. As it was only recently announced during The Game Awards last December, fans have been itching to learn anything about the upcoming sci-fi mech game, as it’ll also be a break from the dark fantasy games that FromSoftware has been pumping out.

That doesn’t mean we’re in the dark when it comes to Armored Core 6, however. In fact, we know quite a bit about it already, such as the fact that the game won’t feature co-op during the story, and that it won’t feature soulslike gameplay.

With the news that we won’t learn anything new about Armored Core 6 in the Taipei Game Show, we’ll just have to wait a little longer until we get more info. The game is set to release sometime in 2023 anyway, so it’s not like we have that much longer to wait until it releases. If Elden Ring’s an indicator of what FromSoft’s capable of these days, Armored Core 6 may just live up to the fanbase’s expectations.

Elder Scrolls Online Necrom Expansion Announced; Will Feature New Arcanist Class

The Elder Scrolls Online, Bethesda’s Action MMORPG, is getting a new expansion called Necrom. The expansion will feature new stories and content just like any other Elder Scrolls Online expansion, but this time, it also comes with a new playable class called the Arcanist.

Take a look at some in-game footage of the new Chapter below:

Necrom will be set in Eastern Morrowind, an area that hasn’t been explored in the Elder Scrolls Series for decades. It will also involve a Daedric prince that was seen in Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC, and based on the footage shown in the trailer, it’ll likely be Hermaeus Mora.

For a limited time, you’ll also get to play all the Elder Scrolls Online DLCs for free, which should allow players to try out all of the game’s expansion content without spending a dime.

Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom is set to launch sometime in June this year.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 Changes Outlined, Includes UI, Audio Issues & More

While we already know that Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 will be released on February 15, Infinity Ward and Raven Software has now given us a patch preview if you will, of some of the Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 changes that players can expect!

Note that this is not the full patch notes, and this doesn’t include the new maps, modes and other stuff that will be revealed in the coming weeks as part of Season 2.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 Changes:

Global Changes

Crashes and Stability

We remain dedicated to improving the overall stability and performance of our games, including reduced crashes across all platforms and titles.

Expect the Season 02 Patch Notes to further detail specific bug fixes and changes ahead of February 15th.

Audio (Global)

Data suggests that some PC Players may be experiencing audio issues due to discrepancies in the number of channels they are outputting. We’ve added an option to force PC to stereo output; please be sure to check Windows and in-game audio settings are set correctly in accordance with your listening environment.

Investigation into player reports regarding audio led us to identifying a previously unknown issue impacting occlusion across the game. Audio occlusion is a filter that is applied based on the type of material that an object or structure is composed of, primarily based on its thickness and how it blocks the full frequency of the sound. Only large structural objects should apply the filter, but we found some small items like a stapler or a pile of rags on the ground that were causing the filter to turn on when it shouldn’t have. For example, a wastebasket that was tagged with the incorrect material may have occluded the sound like it was behind a wall making the sound more difficult for a player to hear. This issue will be addressed in the Season 02 update and we continue to work on fixes and new audio features to better our players’ experience.

UI

A number of UI/UX updates are coming to Season 02 to improve overall flow of in-game menus. These updates include:

  • Improved navigation and organization of Camo menu
  • More polished Social tab, including improved channel swapping and player muting
  • New “My Bundles” screen
  • Quick equip items from Battlepass, My Bundles, and Store
  • Reticle previews in Store and Gunsmith
  • Improved clarity of attachment blocking logic in Gunsmith
  • And many more bug fixes

We’ve also recently introduced a fix that restored:

  • Instance speed of Recent Players in menu
  • Status refresh of Friends

Further details on these changes and more will appear in our Season 02 Patch Notes.

Experience

  • Improved After Action Report with audio
  • Play Again feature in Battle Royale
  • Bug fixes for inconsistencies between:
    • Challengers
    • Battle Pass
    • Weapon progression

Weapon Balance

Weapon balance is something we are always analyzing, and we’ll be balancing Weapons for Season 02 just like any other seasonal or mid-season update. Details on Weapon balancing can be found in the upcoming Season 02 launch Patch Notes. We’re excited to discuss some changes to armor below that will make for more consistent engagement in Warzone 2.0.

Battle Royale

The Gulag

1v1 Gulag will be returning with the launch of Season 02. With this change, Players will see the return of the original Warzone overtime mechanic – the Domination-style flag control point – in place of the Jailer.

Read more about the Gulag’s return right here.

Cash Economy

In addition to the cash changes to the Gulag outlined above, we are balancing the Battle Royale economy with a slight reduction to cash rewards for completing contracts. Additionally, we are increasing the lowest value of Cash piles from ground loot to $800 and from Cash Registers to $500 (previously $100 minimum).

In addition to this, Cash can be acquired via ground loot, containers, and white Stronghold Supply Boxes throughout Al Mazrah, but can no longer be found in basic and legendary Supply Boxes.

This redistribution should make for quicker, more consistent gameplay in the pursuit of resources.

Loot & Inventory

As announced last week, we’re shifting away from loot windows/menus to floating loot that will now drop out of all containers in the world, similar to loot from Supply Boxes.

This change is intended to improve the pace of gameplay by minimizing time spent navigating the UI and getting Players back in the action faster.

Loadouts

Season 02 will introduce customizable Perk Packages! This feature will launch with a slightly reduced pool of available Perks, which we may slowly reintroduce over time. We want to navigate this particular feature as carefully as possible, ensuring that all available Perks provide ample utility and remain viable/balanced options.

Primary Weapons will continue to be available at Buy Stations but now at a more affordable price point so that Players can pursue victory with their most desired Weapons. We also remain happy with the introduction of Loadout Drop Markers, though we have taken a careful look at the price point. The price of Loadout Drop Markers has been slightly reduced so that respective Squad sizes can acquire their full Loadouts at a faster pace. In addition, on extremely rare occasions, Players may find one while looting throughout Al Mazrah. A second Loadout Drop Public Event has been added, which means the drops will now happen on the first and fifth Circles each match.

Additional Changes…

3-Plate Vests

We’re continuously evaluating the pace of combat engagements and have decided to make a change: all Players will now start with a 3-Plate Vest. Varying sizes of Vests will no longer exist in Battle Royale loot. This standardization will bring a more reliable feel to each engagement from the get-go. We’ll continue looking at data about optimizing downtime and improving the ability to recover from a prior engagement.

Movement

We have made an important tweak to movement that should yield better outcomes for Players in combat. Starting with Season 02, Players will be able to bust through doors while plating the way they would if they were sprinting. This change includes a slight increase to movement speed while plating to enable Players to get to cover faster in moments of need.

Buy Stations

In order to make Buy Stations and their goods easier to access, we’ve revamped our approach; spawn locations have been added/adjusted, spawns will be static across the map, and Loadout Drop Markers have unlimited stock at all stations. As always, we will continue to monitor the global balance of our economy and availability of resources as we move forward.

Strongholds

Strongholds provide an alternative gameplay experience with high payoff for those willing to tackle the objective – and for others interested in robbing Players of their rewards. We are committed to providing a balanced engagement for Players who choose to enter Strongholds. Season 02 will bring changes to the rewards Players receive from Stronghold and Black Site completion, as well as additional adjustments to A.I. combatant damage.

DMZ

Enemy Tuning

In Season 01 the AI in DMZ were challenging, but the ramp up of difficulty was often steep with some players getting overwhelmed. With Season 02, we’ve introduced a number of balance changes to adjust the types of AI spawning, the number of AI spawning, and the accuracy of AI at range and much more. All of this should provide a challenging but manageable play-space that still requires player respect of enemy combatants in the DMZ.

Spawn Points

We are tuning some of the infil points across Al Mazrah for improved early match experience based on gameplay data. Starting at a point at which your squad feels isolated or without loot and contract opportunities is not the best experience. These tweaks should improve spawn points across the mode.

Mission Difficulty Tuning

Data and feedback reinforced that the Faction Mission difficulty ramp was too aggressive for many Players, and that the demanding scale ultimately made it very challenging to unlock the second Insured Weapon Slot (completing all Tier 3 Missions) in Season 01. We have adjusted the overall scaling of difficulty in Missions as the Tiers progress. Later Tier Missions will still be quite challenging even for the experienced Operator, but we believe more straightforward access to an additional Insured Slot will provide a better path forward for all Players.

Crashes

We know crashes are especially impactful in DMZ if you lose your items and Contraband Weapons as a result. Addressing these crashes is a priority for Season 02, and we are committed to increased stability.  Stay tuned for more specifics on this.

Seasonal Refresh

All-new missions are coming to Season 02 including a refresh of your current Faction mission progress and an inventory (Contraband and Keys) reset. We will be detailing all the need-to-know intel for DMZ ahead of Season 02 in an upcoming blog.

Locations

With a new Exclusion Zone coming to Season 02, players will have a third option to choose from when deploying in DMZ. The Faction Mission refresh will provide new missions that send you across these destinations, including Building 21. We suggest you and your squad gear up for infiltration first!

Multiplayer

Audio (MP)

As noted in previous updates, one type of our audio occlusion system remained off in Multiplayer periodically after launch. Occlusion still existed in Multiplayer at this time but was not the newer and more advanced system. We have spent this time testing and re-implementing that occlusion system and are happy to report that it will be back online with the launch of Season 02.

Perk Balancing

We have heard a lot of feedback around the timing of the bonus perks, specifically the Ghost Perk. We looked at swapping this perk’s position but we felt this would create severe imbalance in the perk system. For Season 02 we’ve updated the rate at which the bonus and the ultimate perks are earned (reduces bonus perk cost by 50% and ultimate by 25%). This adjustment will allow Players to get Ghost earlier in matches, which will better support Players looking to engage more aggressively.

Weapon Balancing

We have several weapon balancing changes coming along with new weapons for Season 02. Full details on weapon balancing will be available in the upcoming Season 02 launch Patch Notes. We’ll also reveal five new Weapons coming to Season 2 in the next few weeks. Stay tuned.

Hardcore

As announced last week, Hardcore mode is returning to MWII. Hardcore will replace the Tier 1 mode. We are excited for fans to have this franchise favorite back in the mix for Season 02.

Playlists

  • Our Valentine’s Day playlists will return! Stay tuned.
  • We’ll be detailing the multiplayer modes coming to Season 02 in the coming weeks.
  • One week per month, Infinity Ward will be creating a Twitter Poll for fans to vote on one of that week’s playlists from a rotating pool.

Ranked Play

Last week we confirmed that Ranked Play, a deep Multiplayer experience done in partnership with Treyarch and the Call of Duty League, and Infinity Ward, is coming to Season 02. Details on Ranked maps, modes and more will be revealed prior to launch.

Once we know more about the new content, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.
