Ubisoft has released the latest title update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and this fixes issues for the base game, as well as adds a little treat for those who own a PS5 Pro.

Console gamers will see this as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora update 1.020 (complete version 1.020.000), and this adds PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) support for those who have a PS5 Pro.

Outside of that, the infinite loading screen issue has also been fixed with this patch, which should be good news for everyone affected by it.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Infinite Loading Screen Issue Resolved With March 24’s Version 1.020 Update

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Review

Here’s what’s new per Ubisoft:

  • Fixed several “infinite loading screen” issues.
  • Fixes to the world & terrain.
  • Improvements to XeSS FG.
  • Various smaller fixes (UI & animations).
  • PS5 Pro players – please enable “Enhance PSSR Image Quality” (under “Screen and Video”) on your console if playing with PSSR.

How to Turn on PSSR:

  • To turn on the enhanced PSSR model for your PSSR compatible games that aren’t using the enhanced model, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality.

With the release of From the Ashes DLC, Ubisoft hasn’t mentioned whether there’s more expansions on the way, though we suspect there wouldn’t be since we’d have heard of it by now.

If we receive another update, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Battlefield Hardline Console Servers Ending June 22; Removed From PS4, Xbox One Digital Storefronts

After more than 10 years, Battlefield Hardline on consoles (PS4, Xbox One) will be delisted, with the game’s console servers shutting down on June 22.

Aside from the game’s servers being nuked, Battlefield Hardline will be removed from digital storefronts’ the PlayStation Network Store and the Xbox Store on May 22. which means gamers will no longer be able to purchase the game and its DLC on these platforms.

Battlefield Hardline Sunsetting on Consoles Soon

The announcement was made on the official Battlefield Discord, where EA also linked the publisher’s sunsetting process.

While the console version of Battlefield Hardline will be pulled in May, with its servers shutting down in June, the PC version will remain unaffected. At the very least, the game will still be playable on one platform.

Released in 2015, Battlefield Hardline was the first spin-off of the franchise that featured cops and robbers instead of the standard large-scale warfare the franchise is known for. Developed by now-defunct Visceral Games, BF Hardline was criticized at the time for deviating from the Battlefield formula, but has since developed its own cult following.

If you’re a fan of the game or want to experience it before it gets pulled, you have a month and a half to buy it, and about three months left to enjoy it.

In other Battlefield news, EA still laid off people from Battlefield Studios even after Battlefield 6’s super-successful launch.

Crimson Desert Hotfix 1.00.04 Released for PS5 to Fix Character Switch Issue via Update 1.000.151

Following the release of patch 1.00.03 that applied the first of many control improvements, Pearl Abyss has released hotfix 1.00.04 for Crimson Desert, and this is exclusive to the PS5 version of the game.

Console owners will see this download as Crimson Desert update 1.000.151, and this is a small download that handles a specific issue regarding switching characters.

For the list of fixes applied today, as well as known issues that persists, read on.

Crimson Desert PS5 Version Receives Second Update via Version 1.000.151

Here’s the fix included in the second patch released within 24 hours:
The following issue has been fixed:

  • An issue where, when switching from another character to Kliff, certain interactions and actions cannot be performed properly.

There are still a handful of known issues plaguing the game, which include:

Known Issues

  • An issue has been identified where, in certain situations, some knowledge can only be acquired after performing “Observation” twice.
  • (Xbox) An issue has been identified where the fishing reel-in function does not work properly when the “Invert Right Stick Y-Axis” setting is enabled in the device settings. Please note that if you disable this feature, the reel-in function will work normally.
  • In certain situations, the Abyss can be seen from the world below, resulting in slight drops in frame rate.
  • During the “Deferred Advance” quest, retrying or abandoning the Ultimate Weapon fight when Blackstar’s Health is depleted causes Blackstar’s Health to not fully recover.
  • Attempting to steal fruit at the back of a stall results in the character becoming unresponsive to controls.
  • When receiving damage while holding a tree, the character can become stuck to the tree.
  • During the Gregor, the Halberd of Carnage boss fight, if surrounding objects are destroyed at the same time the character dies, the character cannot revive and progress.
  • Under certain conditions, applied settings are not saved after restoring settings.
  • While progressing through some quests, the next objective is not automatically tracked.
  • When using FSR4 upscaling, an issue occurs in rainy environments where rain disappears, or the screen becomes blurry or distorted.
  • An issue has been identified where the game cannot be launched properly on Xbox ROG Ally and Xbox PC.
  • We are currently investigating an issue where Collector’s Edition Steam edition pre-order purchasers are unable to claim their ultimate pack items.

Aside from the known issues, Pearl Abyss has said that more control improvements will be implemented in future patches, so expect a lot more updates to the open-world RPG.

In other news, a former dev at Pearl Abyss claims the game’s story was decided at the “last minute,” hence why it’s not one of its strongest points.

Sony Removes Over 1,000 Low-Quality Games From PlayStation Store

Low-quality games, often called “shovelware,” have been around on PC and consoles for a long time. These are games made quickly with little effort, often copying ideas from other titles. In recent years, they have become a bigger problem in digital stores like Steam and PlayStation Store.

About two months ago, Sony removed nearly 1,200 games from one of the biggest publishers of this kind of content. Now, the company has taken similar action again, removing games from two more publishers.

Over 1,000 Games Removed From PlayStation Store by Sony

Sony Removes 1,000 Games PlayStation Store

According to a recent report by Delisted Games, Nostra Games, a company based in Cyprus, had filled the PlayStation Store with around 700 games, many of them simulation titles. These games have now been removed.

Some of these titles caused controversy due to the use of generative AI, while others were still being played and had some popularity.

After the removal, a spokesperson from the company shared a message on Discord. The response suggested that the decision did not affect them much:

Unfortunately, PlayStation Store has removed our games, and we’re unable to provide an exact reason because it wasn’t shared with us either… For know we are planning to continue releasing on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and Steam

The company also said the situation was unexpected, as they had plans to keep releasing new games on PlayStation.

Another company affected by the removals is CGI Lab, although fewer of its games were taken down. Some of its better-known titles include Platform 0 and Veins of Darkness.

Sony now seems more focused on controlling the presence of shovelware on the PlayStation Store, especially with the growing number of low-quality games appearing in 2026. Many of these games are created using AI tools without much quality control.

Nostra Games appears to have been more heavily affected than CGI Lab, as a much larger number of its titles were removed. Whether due to low quality or because they were cheap games with easy Platinum trophies, these titles are no longer available on the PlayStation Store.

With Sony removing more than 1,000 “low-quality” games, it remains unclear which publishers or titles could be affected next.

In other news, 20% of games released on Steam reportedly used AI in 2025, with 40% earning less than $100 and struggling to even cover the listing cost.

Report: PlayStation’s Firesprite Studio Almost Made Breaking Bad VR, as Well as a New Sci-Fi Horror Game

The first-party PlayStation studio Firesprite has been behind some of the platform’s biggest VR titles, such as The Persistence and the 2023 spin-off Horizon Call of the Mountain. However, over the last few years, the developer has faced a series of setbacks, including a round of layoffs in 2024 that resulted in cancellations. One of these was a battle royale take on the Twisted Metal franchise, as well as another game that was scrapped around the same time.

But these two entries aren’t the only ones that the studio has shelved in the past, as we have uncovered two projects that were unknowingly in the works by the studio, including one based on the widely known TV series Breaking Bad.

Firesprite’s Breaking Bad VR Experience and Sci-Fi Projects

Through a small investigation, we discovered that Firesprite was developing a Breaking Bad VR title for the PSVR around 2017 and 2018. While the name carries a lot of weight, the best way to describe it wouldn’t be a traditional game, but rather a narrative “experience.” This would have been similar to early PlayStation VR games like Stranger Things: The VR Experience, short-length titles mainly focused on cinematic stories.

The production would have featured several iconic locations from the series, such as Walter White’s backyard and the New Mexico desert, so it’s safe to assume players would have stepped into the meth-cooking chemistry teacher shoes.

In fact, this isn’t the first time this game has been mentioned. Variety reported in 2017 that series creator Vince Gilligan was collaborating with Sony Interactive Entertainment on a VR title, but the specific studio behind the work remained a mystery until now. From what we could gather, the project would be cancelled just a year after that report.

The last time we would hear about the collaboration was in 2022, when Gilligan first acknowledged the existence of the initiative and revealed that it was ultimately canceled despite a significant amount of effort being put into it.

As Gilligan put it:

Making a video game is damn hard. It takes years and millions of dollars, especially when you’re trying to break new ground with VR. It never came to fruition though, which is a shame.

Another project developed after Firesprite stopped working on Breaking Bad also never saw the light of day. It was a new IP in the sci-fi horror genre, worked on between 2018 and 2020, but it never made it past the prototype stage.

We discovered a few pieces of concept art for this title in the portfolio of a former Firesprite artist. Based on those images, the game was clearly in the same vein as Dead Space. The illustrations feature intense body horror and futuristic elements that would feel right at home in a dark sci-fi setting.

Some people might find similarities between these concepts and Firesprite’s previous work, The Persistence, since both share a sci-fi horror setting, which could lead some to believe this was a scrapped sequel. However, that is unlikely, as the artist who worked on the project described it as a completely new IP.

While many projects like these have been shelved, the studio has been busy with several other new titles for some time. One of the most talked about is Project Heartbreak. This codename first leaked back in 2022 and is widely rumored to be a sequel to the hit horror game Until Dawn. Reports suggest it is a narrative-driven horror game featuring a female lead, possibly set on an island.

Another recently discovered title would be Project Pillar, a codename allegedly spotted in Firesprite’s job listings. We don’t know much about this one yet, other than, like Heartbreak, it’s supposedly being developed using Unreal Engine 5.

So with all of this, it is clear that the several canceled projects haven’t slowed the studio down. Firesprite is moving forward, and hopefully, we will see the fruits of their labor sooner rather than later.

GUNNAR Optiks The Witcher Review – Toss a Coin to Your Vision

Founded in 2006, GUNNAR Optiks is a name many of you are probably familiar with. Though they started life as being gaming-centric, the brand has since evolved into something much larger, shifting its focus to a broader audience of glasses wearers that not only includes gamers, but also remote professionals, creative designers, and anyone whose daily life is tethered to a digital screen. Still, GUNNAR hasn’t forgotten its roots, which has led to some pretty exciting collaborations over the years, with two big gaming franchises recently teaming up with the brand: Fallout and The Witcher.

Not only do these collaborations serve as a nod to some of the most beloved worlds in gaming, but they also prove that eye health doesn’t have to look like a clinical afterthought. By blending their signature lens technology with high-quality, themed frames, GUNNAR has turned a utility tool into a genuine collector’s item. In the case of their latest venture, the results are nothing short of magical.

A Witcher’s Touch

Being someone who puts in nearly eight hours a day of work on a PC, more when gaming is taken into account, one nagging annoyance that has been growing with age is eye strain. I’ve heard about GUNNAR Optiks and other blue-light filter glasses before, but I’ve always believed them to be gimmicks, a cheap marketing ploy to sell you on a product that probably doesn’t do anything. Boy, was I wrong.

Although the verdict on the blue-light filter blocking is still up in the air, I will say that testing a pair of GUNNAR Optiks glasses over the past few weeks has yielded some positive results for me. The yellow-tinted glasses have not only reduced the glare from my OLED monitor but also significantly reduced the eye straining I’ve been experiencing. So much so that I wear the glasses anytime I’m working from my PC.

They do have a pretty strong yellow tint compared to a lot of other lenses out there, but it’s a tint that I found myself getting accustomed to, in little to no time at all.

The most exciting aspect is the collaborations. Being glasses, you don’t think too much about their frames, let alone seeing them themed on a gaming franchise. For their Witcher collection, GUNNAR has crafted two sets of frames, each themed after the series’ main protagonists, Geralt and Ciri. In terms of designs, these look fantastic, with White Wolf (Geralt) in an aviator style and Ciri in a rounded style that really pops.

What comes in the box:

  • Collectors Case
  • Collectors Microfiber Pouch
  • Collectors Microfiber Cleaning Cloth
  • 12-month Warranty

Both sets use stainless steel, with the White Wolf brushed with a nickel coloring and Ciri in gold. Both sets also have leather wrapping, a fitting touch that callsback too the armor worn in the games. Of course, there are some game logo markings on the glasses, and on the White Wolf version of the set, there are signs from the game on the framing. The Ciri version has these on the case, with the White Wolf having the The Witcher logo in place of that.

In addition to The Witcher themed-case, you’ll also get a pouch and a microfiber, also themed after The Witcher.

Build quality, the glasses feel sturdy enough to take a bit of a beating. Granted, they are glasses, so they’re still prone to the occasional smudge or scratch if you aren’t careful. The stainless steel material gives them a premium heft that feels far more durable than most glasses, but not so much that it affects comfort. There’s some flexibility that provides just the right amount of comfort, giving them a snug fit around my face.

The overall build quality is fantastic, and they also have a look that conveys a sense of style you wouldn’t expect from a gaming-themed item.

Prescription, Blue Filtering, and Transition Options to Help See Roach

One neat thing about GUNNAR Optiks is that they offer prescription custom lenses in addition to their standard lenses, so not only can you get a set that helps filter blue lighting, but you can also get a pair tuned to the needs of your own eyes.

This isn’t just pre-selected lenses to choose from, either, as GUNNAR allows buyers to submit a signed prescription from their optometrist, which ensures the lenses are accurate when they are sent in.

It’s not an option I had to use, but it’s also one I didn’t know GUNNAR even offered. Of course, once you start getting into the customization side of things, that’s where you are going to see piece increases move from relatively affordable to more on the enthusiast side, with the different collaborations GUNNAR offers.

Nonetheless, taking them from being only a “gaming/workplace” set of glasses to being usable for everyday use is, in my opinion, a major pro, even if the price can get high depending on your setup.

Blue-light filtering and transition options are also available with prescription lenses for those seeking extra eye protection.

Slaying Monsters

If you’re someone who works long hours at either a work or personal desk, or experiences eye-strain during everyday gaming, it might not be a bad idea to start looking at a pair of blue light glasses. I was skeptical about them working at first, but after putting a pair through the paces, I can confidently say that they really do help prevent my eyes from straining.

Not only that, but GUNNAR Optiks also has a collection of glasses to choose from, from preset lenses to custom options in your own prescription, that not only feel good to wear but also look fantastic from a fashion standpoint. Ultimately, the GUNNAR Optiks bridges the gap between high-end fan memorabilia and essential wellness tech, and who can possibly hate that?

Pros

  • Beautiful frame options that blend
  • Snug and flexible
  • Premium build
  • Prescription options
  • Helps with eye straining
Verdict
9.5/10
GUNNAR Optiks delivers with exceptional quality that not only feel good to wear, but also look great, mashing high-end fan memorabilia with essential wellness technology.

Cons

  • Though affordable, they can get quite expensive depending on lenses

Report: Crimson Desert’s Story Was Decided Last Minute; Dev Reveals Internal Strife During Development

While Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert manages to do a lot of things right, it does have a gaping hole when it comes to the story — or more specifically, the lack of it.

It seems there’s a reason why this open-world action-RPG doesn’t have a grand, sweeping narrative like its brethren, and it’s due to the game’s story being an afterthought more than anything else.

Not only that, but a developer even sheds light on the game’s development, which doesn’t paint a bright picture of what happened before release.

Crimson Desert’s Story Woes Explained

In a couple of posts on Blind, a platform where game devs can post anonymously and is only accessible by verified industry professionals, it talks about the game’s story or why there seems to be a lack of it, as well as the work culture that turned people into “yes men” more than anything else.

This bears attention, given that the people who posted these said accusations must verify their identity using their corporate email, which also shows their current workplace. In short: this is a lot weightier than just some random person posting something on an online forum (thanks, ).

The info about the story comes from a former Pearl Abyss developer who has since moved on to Nexon. The text is translated from Korean to English, so there are some minor grammatical errors, and we’ve refrained from touching any of the text to not miscontrue what the poster said.

Crimson Desert originally wasn’t like this…

People playing Crimson Desert or those in the industry will probably feel it vaguely. Why there is no talk about the “Crimson Desert” in Crimson Desert.
If the title is Crimson Desert, things related to it should appear, but in the story, they don’t appear at all.
Do you know why?
It is because the story was not decided until right before release.
Therefore, a story trailer could not come out, and since it is a story about a mercenary group, there is inevitably no talk about the mercenary group.
The fact that it proceeds only with the protagonist Kliff is also for this reason.
Additionally, Kliff was originally named “Macbeth”, but the name was changed because it has serial killer vibe…?

For the story, originally, it started with a young king, who had his throne usurped, coming to the Grey Mane Mercenaries.
A middle-aged prime minister(?) who was looking after the young king and a young princess came and asked to make them royalty.
And it was content about recapturing a type of “currency” manufactured from minerals that can only be collected in the regional area of the “Crimson Desert.” So, in the process of occupying the Crimson Desert to seize hegemony and making them royalty—
This middle-aged prime minister was supposed to betray them and try to become king himself, and the story was about stopping that and winning.

In the middle of it, a director was pushed out in a power struggle and resigned, and once someone from an art background became the General Manager, they started overturning everything. This person who became General Manager is a general manager in name only; they are just a compliant subordinate. And every person in the team who holds a rank is just a compliant subordinate.
Individual will? Personal opinion? They do not exist. That is why they can hold a rank.

The current result is what happened as everything began to be overturned for art. Even Ervin was originally that young king’s bodyguard and was a man.
When Zelda Tears of the Kingdom came out they hurriedly followed and made sky island that makes no sense. They brought in functions from various games as references, but without understanding at all why those functions were put into those games; they exist only as a means for a purpose.

If it looks cool, they just put it in, and once it is implemented, they gather among themselves and applaud; I don’t know what to call this if not “a frog in a well.”
Always trash talking on Unreal Engine, they don’t try the next games when they come out and only watch YouTube and trash talk about it, and they claim God of War is just trash game that looks good. As a fan of God of War hearing them say it’s just a game with good visual without knowing even 1% of Kratos’s narrative makes me sigh.

Anyway, as someone who also participated in the game, I hoped it would do well, but I am sad that the result is like this.
I am sad because it feels like it has decorated a page of gaming history in many ways, really.
However, on the contrary, it is a relief to have it confirmed that a good game cannot come out of such a corporate culture.

Other Pearl Abyss employes have reportedly reacted to the post and agreed with what was said.

Crimson Desert’s Development Was Filled With Leaders That Were “Yes Men”

The second poster is a current Pearl Abyss dev who explains the work culture at the studio, and how it’s structured like an “inverted pyramid,” where leaders seek yes men and those who think alike rather than anyone talking back and providing resistance.

I was part of the Crimson Desert development team for a long time. Even as I write this, I’ve deleted and restarted this post several times, wondering if this is the right thing to do. Please excuse me if this feels a bit disorganized.

In our company, we collectively call anyone at the team leader level or above a “Leader.” Our CEO announced in front of the entire staff that the company would be structured like an inverted pyramid, placing more “Leaders” than rank-and-file employees. Once, a high-ranking Leader said to me, “Do you know why you can’t be one of us? It’s because a Leader has to be someone who looks in the same direction we do.”

What that actually meant was that they only want people who unconditionally say “Yes,” follow orders, and never talk back. In other words, every head at the top of that inverted pyramid is filled with people who think exactly the same way.

I believe most of my colleagues involved in development were aware that Crimson Desert was going off the rails. However, I don’t think many were in a position to speak up about it. As I mentioned, they don’t acknowledge anyone who doesn’t share their exact mindset.

They just praise their own work as “amazing,” and whenever they see a reference from here or there that looks good, they just shove it in. Because it became such a hodgepodge of features crammed together, the control layout must have been a mess too.

I believe it was an inevitable conclusion that Crimson Desert would become a disaster. I don’t think a proper direction can ever emerge from a company that suppresses people for calling out what is wrong.

I’ve been rambling late into the night, but watching the reviews and streamers play Crimson Desert makes me feel bittersweet. All the common flaws users point out are the exact things we used to gather and say, “Isn’t this a bit weird?”

From here on out, I expect they will try to shift the blame—digging through the development history of individuals to find someone to pin the responsibility on for why it turned out this way.

Anyway, to my colleagues who developed Crimson Desert, to those who left for various reasons, and to those in the industry who supported us: you’ve all worked so hard, and thank you. The industry is very cold and harsh right now, but I hope everyone stays strong.

Bear in mind, these are stlll anonymous reports, and while Blind does add a layer or two of authenticity to it, at the end of the day, it’s best to take things with a grain of salt.

At the end of the day, game development is a tough field to be in, and there’s bound to be a lot of finger-pointing. Crimson Desert seems to have turned out well enough to create a few waves, and let’s hope Pearl Abyss uses that momentum to iron out the bugs, controls, UI and more.

It is a bit worrying though that the developers didn’t say Intel Arc GPU’s wouldn’t work with the title until the day it released.

ARC Raiders Server Instability and Issues for March 21

Those having issues connecting to ARC Raiders, or seeing their matches get disconnected, it’s not just you. It’s due to the ARC Raiders servers having stability issues on March 20 (March 21 for those outside the US).

While most gamers can connect to the ARC Raiders servers, it’s getting into actual matches and whatnot that’s acting up.

This is something that’s been happening for the past hour since this article has gone live, with some being able to play normally, while others can’t even connect at all.

ARC Raiders Not Down but Seeing Server Stability Issues on March 20/March 21

The game’s community has voiced out their frustrations with server disconnects or seeing a network timeout message appear on screen.

Embark has also issued a message, stating, “We’ve received reports of server instability and the team is currently investigating. We’ll share updates as soon as we have more information.”

Given how on-the-ball is Embark has been in updating gamers, we’re expecting this issue to be resolved ASAP. If there are any major updates about the server situation, we’ll add it in the article as an update. Hopefully, this won’t require any client-side download to resolve, though we’ve seen that happen to games from time to time.

Speaking of which, the latgest hotfix for the game was released this week, and it adds new cosmetics and also fixes a few key issues.

If you’re having issues playing the game, leave a comment below on your platform and where you’re from.

On the Day of Launch, Pearl Abyss Reveals Crimson Desert Doesn’t Work on Intel ARC GPUs

In case you didn’t know, Pearl Abyss’ open-world action-RPG Crimson Desert is finally out. For those playing on PC, if you’re using Intel Arc GPU’s, you might want to think twice before picking it up.

It seems Crimson Desert isn’t compatible with Intel Arc, but the odd thing here is, the game’s website only mentioned this after the game’s release.

When I say the game can’t run with Intel Arc, I meant it, and there’s proof of that below.

Crimson Desert Intel Arc Compatibility Is an Issue, But the Devs Only Made It Known at Launch

The Crimson Desert website updated its FAQ page after launch to mention the following regarding Intel Arc GPU’s:

Does Crimson Desert support Intel Arc?

No, Crimson Desert currently does not support Intel Arc graphics cards. If you purchased the game expecting Intel Arc support, please refer to the refund policy of the platform where the game was purchased for available options. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

The video below shows the game running on different GPU’s, with the Arc failing to load the game at all:

Was this intentional on Pearl Abyss’ part? Probably not since the devs even ask players to ask for a refund if they bought it under the notion that Intel Arc will work. However, it’s still worth pointing out though, so PC gamers who are using it won’t make the same mistake.

While we’re toiling away at our Crimson Desert review to give it the proper treatment it deserves, RPG fans might want to take a look at its two-part day-one update that covers an extensive list of fixes.

Ready or Not Version 1.4.2 Addresses Boiling Point Issues via Update 1.001.003

With the release of the Boiling Point DLC for Ready or Not last week, there was bound to be a bug or two that managed to escape the developers’ grasps, and today, a slew of issues have been fixed.

VOID Interactive calls the patch version 1.4.2, and console gamers will see this download as Ready or Not update 1.001.003.

While today’s title update fixes a few key issues, don’t expect it to address everything all at once.
