Path of Exile 2 Download Version 1.013 Rolled Out for 0.1.1b Patch

[summaraize]

Grinding Gear Games has another patch for Path of Exile 2’s early access gamers. This time, it’s for the 0.1.1b patch, which console gamers will see as Path of Exile 2 download version 1.013.

This is another patch that ushers in fixes rather than new content, so temper those expectations. Note that the patch does not involve a server restart.

Path of Exile 2’s New Patch for January 23 Fixes Crashes

  • Added a new client command line option which sends us additional debug information (API markers, NVIDIA Nsight Aftermath, and DRED) from DirectX 12 client crashes. If you’re experiencing a large number of crashes and using DirectX 12, then temporarily enabling this will assist us in identifying the cause. This can be enabled by adding “–ex-crash-report” to your Path of Exile 2 command line arguments/launch options.
  • Fixed a bug where on rare occasions Zarokh, the Temporal could kill all targets of the hourglass time trial skill without giving a chance to avoid it.
  • Fixed a bug where Una was not playing the audio for her song selections.
  • Fixed a client crash related to checkpoint UI.
  • Fixed an instance crash.

While Grinding Gear Games has not specified whether these are the same changelog for consoles, this is the only patch notes that’s new out today, so we’re assuming PC and consoles have the same changes made (minus the PC-specific tweaks).

Once another patch is pushed out, we’ll let our readers know. If the console changelog has anything different, we’ll update the article to reflect it.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC – How to Change Resolution

[summaraize]

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PC version is officially out! Like almost any PC game, the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers the benefit of customizable settings, from high textures to framerate and other graphical options. However, it seems that the PC version also shipped with a minor bug that prevents players from changing their in-game resolution from 1080P.

Don’t worry, though. The fix is super easy, and you can enjoy Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in 1440P, 4K, or whatever resolution you choose.

You Can Change Your Resolution in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC to Be Higher Than 1080p

If the above image, which showcases the resolution option as greyed out, looks familiar to you, don’t worry—you aren’t alone. Multiple players have reported the same thing, and I even found myself a little shocked to see that I couldn’t change the setting. Thankfully, the fix isn’t anything crazy, like downloading and installing a mod or going into the config file and changing it there. All you have to do is change your display mode. No joke, it’s that easy, to change resolution in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC, navigate to display mode and switch to Windowed. This will cause the screen to go into Windowed mode and the option to switch resolution will now be available.

We can only assume this is a bug, but at least it’s not complicated to resolve.

Sadly, for those looking for secret ultra-wide (21:9 or higher) screen support, you’ll have to wait for Square Enix to officially add it in a potential patch or for someone to release a mod.

In the meantime, though, I hope everyone enjoys their time with the PC version, and if you get stuck on some things, be sure to check out our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth guides!

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Launches April 24, Different Editions Revealed

[summaraize]

The French studio Sandfall Interactive was among the teams present at the Xbox Developer Direct, where they provided an in-depth look at Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and revealed its official release date: April 24, 2025. The game will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

During the event, the developers highlighted the game’s key features, including an emotional story, innovative gameplay inspired by classics, and a dark, original world to explore. The story has been in development for four years, featuring deeply conflicted characters and a narrative with dark, mature tones. Relationships among the characters will play a central role in the dramatic storytelling, though lighter moments will also be present.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Release Date Announced

The gameplay presentation showcased a captivating alternate version of Belle Epoque France. The storyline will involve not only the members of Expedition 33 but also unique characters from this strange world, some with special powers who will join the group and interact with it in various ways.

Combat will be turn-based, incorporating timing mechanics for button presses to enhance attack damage or reduce incoming damage. The developers revealed a skill tree for character and party customization, alongside several spectacular battle sequences. While the style draws from Japanese RPGs, it has a distinctly French flavor.

One of the standout features is the explorable 3D map, inspired by older Japanese RPGs like the early Final Fantasy games—an element now rarely seen in the genre.

The game will launch on Game Pass and support Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling gameplay across devices via Xbox Cloud. It will also feature cross-save and cross-progression.

Lords of the Fallen Download Version 1.063 Adds Audio Option, Players Can Now Choose Male & Female Body Types in Character Creation

[summaraize]

Staying true to their word, HexWorks released the first patch for Lords of the Fallen in 2025. Console players should see this as Lords of the Fallen download version 1.063. This improves online connectivity on all platforms and adds new audio options.

This is called patch version 1.7.73 on PC. In response to community feedback, it also adds male and female body types to character creation instead of just being “a” and “b.”

Lords of the Fallen Can Now Choose Between Male and Female Body Types in Character Creation via Update 1.063

Lords of the Fallen Update 1.058

Improved Online Connectivity
A series of updates to help improve overall gameplay smoothness when playing online, in particular, reducing rubberbanding and lag

Male/Female Body Option
In response to recent community feedback, players can now choose between ‘male’ and ‘female’ body types as part of the character creation process

New Umbral Ambience Audio Setting
In v1.6, we made a number of changes to improve the exploration experience of the Umbral realm, one of which was to reduce the initial ambient soundscape. While many embraced this change as a significant improvement, some of you missed the more hostile welcoming to our world of the dead. In recognition, we have added a new audio option in settings allowing players to control the Umbral Ambience

Stability Improvements
Enhanced overall stability by resolving crashes that occurred in rare situations.

HexWorks has been very active in releasing post-release patches, which we should expect to happen all throughout the year until we reach version 2.0.

Hopefully, more info about the sequel will be revealed within the year.

Diablo 4 Update 1.74 for Hotfix 1 of Season of Witchcraft Out on All Platforms

[summaraize]

With the big Season of Witchcraft patch released a few days ago for Diablo 4, it’s expected that a few things might need to get fixed, and that’s what exactly’s happened, as Blizzard has now deployed a hotfix.

PC players should have already downloaded the patch yesterday, but console gamers will see this as Diablo 4 download version 1.74 on PS4/XB1 and version 1.074 on PS5/XSX.

Diablo 4 Gets Its First Hotfix for Season of Witchcraft in Patch 2.1.0

Per Blizzard, there’s only a handful of fixes included in today’s hotfix:

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue where the Earthquake explosion from Mantle of Mountain’s Fury did no damage.
  • We have temporarily disabled the Witchcraft Power Hex of Whispers as it was causing stability issues. We are working on a fix to deploy as soon as we can.
  • Stability improvements.

While nothing has been announced yet, we expect more patches to be rolled out in the coming days and weeks. These should include adjustments and various bug fixes related to the new seasonal update.

If you haven’t tried Season of Witchcraft, check out a quick highlights summary:

Highlights:

  • WITCHCRAFT: From the teachings of the Witches of Howezar, players can channel the power of the Swamp. Explore three different schools of Witchcraft Powers to find the ability combination that suits your playstyle, whether you seek supernatural strength, are a practitioner of connected mind and spirit, or wish to balance healing and harming skills. By finding and equipping the new Seasonal Legendary Gems, Occult Gems, you can harness devastating and iconic abilities, some of which harken back to Diablo III.
  • HEADROTTEN BOSSES: Cut from the Tree of Whispers, the Stolen Heads have mutated into ghastly abominations, desperate to become whole and human again. New Headrotten Bosses and enemies await as you follow the Whispers of the Dead. By completing the new endgame Headhunts, players can hunt down Headrotten and claim their heads in exchange for Occult Gems. If you’re lucky, you might find a “Headed” Headrotten Boss, a rare boss variant that grants even more valuable rewards.
  • ARMORY: The long awaited new armory feature allows players to quickly save and swap complete character loadouts. Save and overwrite different builds for your heroes as you please; all Gear, Skill Points, and Paragon Points will be automatically applied when swapping.
  • SEASONAL REWARDS: Season of Witchcraft adds additional Uniques and Legendaries to the loot pool. Vessel of Hatred players can also experience three new Runes and many updates to existing Runes. Those who seek more drops can ascend tiers of the Coven’s Favor, earn rewards like a Raven Pet via the Season Journey, or progress through the Battle Pass.
The complete patch notes clock in at around 14,000 words, which you can check out in full here.

If you notice any major bugs, leave a comment below.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Download Version 1.000.006 Released for Patch 5

The latest major update for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is now live, as BioWare has pushed out Patch 5 on consoles and PC. Players will see this as Dragon Age: The Veilguard download version 1.000.006, and players can expect the studio to implement another round of bug fixes.

There’s also a new quality-0f-life feature added for today’s patch, which helps you see what each side mission’s recommended is at a glance.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s New Update for January 23 Fixes Various Bugs

Quality of Life Changes:

  • Recommended levels have been added to side quests that players may receive at significantly lower levels.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where Rook could only flirt with Lucanis in a specific conversation.
  • Fixed an issue with the Regrets of The Dread Wolf quest not triggering properly or stopping Rook with an invisible wall in the Crossroads.
  • Fixed a blocking issue with a puzzle in the Converged City area of the Crossroads.
  • Fixed an issue with the “Imperium’s Resolve” armor causing negative damage instead of the intended zero fire, cold, necrotic, and electric damage.
  • Fixed excessive clipping on Taash’s “Rivain’s Legacy” armor.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some Rooks from changing the runes on their lyrium dagger.
  • Fixed an issue with the Medium Armor Mastery skill for Warriors.
  • Fixed a spot on Rivain’s beach where Rook could get stuck in a cycle of drowning, never to be pulled out of the water by their companions.
  • Fixed a typo on a note Rook can find in Dock Town.
  • Fixed an issue that caused photo mode screenshots to be noticeably worse quality when HDR was turned to “On.”
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the photo mode screenshot location to still be shown on screen.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the fireflies in the opening area of the Crossroads to flicker at an alarming rate on specific settings.
  • Fixed a lighting issue in one of the conversations with the whole team in the Lighthouse.
  • Fixed an issue in the Mirror of Transformation that blocked players from zooming in and out with the mouse scroll wheel.
  • Fixed an issue where the Objective Marker Visibility was not updated when the exploration preset was changed with the other options in the Exploration sub-category.
  • Some adjustments to the game credits.

That’s about it. Given that BioWare has said they are “moving to monitor for any game-breaking bugs,” I suspect we won’t see many post-release new features patched in anytime soon.

If the studio announces anything in terms of post-release new features, we’ll let our readers know. BioWare has confirmed that no DLC for the RPG is planned, as the dev team shifts focus to the in-development Mass Effect game.

  • (Versus) Fixed a bug where the “Not so Fast! – Disable a Hero that is Reviving another Hero” challenge was obtainable by simply disabling any hero, regardless if they are reviving or not.
  • Fixed some mistakes with the German localization.
  • Fixed an issue where hero skins that overwrite hats would still take texture changes from said hat, if applicable (Notably, Slayer head cosmetics changing tattoos and skin)
  • Fixed the model of a rapier illusion having a gap between the blade and the hilt.
  • (Versus) Fixed a bug where controller sensitivity would be reset to default after each round.

Fan Develops an Online PS1 Game and Connects It to a PS4

[summaraize]

Over the years, many users have tried to run PlayStation 1 games on last-gen consoles, but no one has achieved this because of hardware limitations. However, it appears that after many years of hard work and research, one YouTuber is finally able to connect PS1 games to the PS4.

Just recently, one of the YouTubers named Carl Does Tech Things released a new video detailing how he was able to create an online PS1 game and run it on PlayStation 4.

YouTuber Explains How They Achieved This Technical Feat

Although it’s still very complicated and buggy, the YouTuber has shown in the latest video that he achieved this by creating an online game on the PS1 by soldering a connection to the serial communications port on the motherboard.

Once he accomplished that, the YouTuber then used a Raspberry Pi to connect the PS1 to the computer through LAN, where he added a program that translated the layer between serial and web sockets.

Therefore, he was able to run an online PS1 game on the PlayStation 4. If you do not understand much of the video, it’s best to watch the full YouTube video above to understand everything in detail and with reasoning.

It’s also worth noting that the final results are still laggy and somewhat buggy, the YouTuber has said he is working on getting them fixed. So, there is a chance we may actually get to run PS1 games smoothly on the PS4 in the near future.

  • Fixed an issue where opening Photo Mode simultaneously with Wardrobe or Stash caused the game to become unresponsive.
  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to access Photo Mode before a save file fully loaded, causing it to open without UI and block any further action.
  • Fixed other minor Photo Mode issues related to spawned characters, camera movement, controls, and more.
  • Fixed various UI issues in Photo Mode, SmartFrames and Gallery menus, including slider inconsistencies, localization errors, missing sound effects, incorrect behavior when interacting with certain features, and more.

Vehicle Color Customization

  • Fixed several texture and color inconsistencies for vehicles that have CrystalCoat applied.
  • Fixed an issue where the explanation of the spray paint icon was missing in the Autofixer tutorial pop-up after a vehicle contract was completed.
  • Fixed several minor UI issues in the CrystalCoat and TwinTone menus.

Character Creation

  • Randomizer settings in Character Creation will now be preserved after advancing to the Customize Attributes step.
  • Fixed an issue where the Piercing Color option would not be available in Character Creation after enabling piercings if V initially had none.
  • Fixed other minor issues in Character Creation, including appearance options not applying correctly, visual clipping, inconsistent UI behavior, functionality issues after using the randomizer, and more.

Miscellaneous

  • Run This Town – Fixed an issue where, under certain circumstances, it wasn’t possible to deactivate the Aguilar imprint after meeting with Bennett.
  • Fixed several instances where Johnny could appear duplicated in the passenger seat during some quests when he was already present in the scene.
  • Fixed an issue where Johnny did not appear as a passenger often enough.
  • Introduced several fixes to NPC and vehicle behavior for various small events throughout Night City.
  • Fixed an issue where some vendors were not interactable as intended.
  • Fixed an issue where voiceovers on TV news channels could be missing or too quiet.
  • Fixed an issue where the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech used a description of Quadra Turbo-R 740 instead of its own unique one.
  • Fixed the missing 2.2 “check what’s new” pop-up in the main menu.

Console-specific

  • Fixed an issue where screenshots appeared as blank in the Gallery on Xbox if they were taken with HDR10 enabled.
  • Added a pop-up in the Gallery to notify players when access to screenshots is blocked by the console’s privacy settings on Xbox.
  • Screenshots deleted on Xbox outside the Gallery UI will now be correctly marked in the Gallery and will disappear from occupied slots after reopening the Gallery.
  • Fixed an issue where the Graphics Mode on Xbox Series S could be set to Quality instead of Performance by default.

PC-specific

  • Added support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, which boosts FPS by using AI to generate up to three times per traditionally rendered frame – enabled with GeForce RTX 50 Series on January 30th. DLSS 4 also introduces faster single Frame Generation with reduced memory usage for RTX 50 and 40 Series. Additionally, you can now choose between the CNN model or the new Transformer model for DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Super Resolution, and DLAA on all GeForce RTX graphics cards today. The new Transformer model enhances stability, lighting, and detail in motion.
  • Fixed artifacts and smudging on in-game screens when using DLSS Ray Reconstruction.
  • The Frame Generation field in Graphics settings will now properly reset after switching Resolution Scaling to OFF.

While we can’t be certain, we suspect CD Projekt RED has more updates planned for the game at some point. If we do get another one, expect it here on MP1st.

Throne and Liberty’s New Update for January 23 Greets Players With Lunar Celebration

[summaraize]

The Lunar New Year is almost here, which means many live service games will be joining the celebrations. One such game is NCSoft’s Throne and Liberty, which received a new update for January 23 that incorporates the Lunar New Year festivities into the game.

Before the event starts, there is server downtime that lasts over six hours, which should explain why you cannot connect to the game’s servers today.

Console players should see this as Throne and Liberty download version 30.201.236, while the studio tags it as patch 30.201.236.

Throne and Liberty Lunar New Year Celebrations Now Live This January 23

Thone and Liberty hotfix 1.10.1

Event: Lunar Celebration

Join the Lunar Celebration event after maintenance completes on January 23 until the start of maintenance on February 5 for event-specific daily login rewards. Gather New Year Coins from various activities and then exchange your spoils at the event store for unique loot, including a Food Coma emote, Fortune’s Chosen title, and Wisdom Seeker Profile frame.

Daily Login Rewards

  • Log in daily for rewards like event bait, Blue Snake Scales, New Year Coins, and New Year’s Cards.

  • Acquire Blue Snake Scales and then interact with the cobra statue in each village to receive a Lucky Red Envelope for Sollant.

New Year Coins

  • New Year Coins can be obtained from:

  • Resistance Contracts (excluding Item Contracts)

  • Dynamic Event performance rewards (Can only be received once during the same Dynamic Event period)

  • Level 50+ Archbosses and Field Bosses

  • 1-Star Co-op Dungeon Chests (Trials I)

  • 2-Star Co-op Dungeon Chest (Trials II)

  • Fishing with event bait

    • New Year’s Cards can also be acquired with event bait.

  • Amitoi Expeditions

Event Store (NPC New Year Coin exchange)

The event shop will remain open until February 12, 2025 at 10:30PM PT.

  • Profile Frame: Wisdom Seeker

  • Title: Fortune’s Chosen

  • Emote: Food Coma

  • Rare Chaos Rune Selection Chest

  • Precious Active Skill Growth Book Selection Chest

  • Precious Passive Skill Growth Book

  • Quality Stellarite x100

Event Buffs

Acquire New Year Coins and interact with the event NPC (Lunar-25) for temporary, event-specific buffs. Visit Lunar-25 before entering any abyssal or co-op dungeons to capitalize on the following bonuses:

  • Happy Lunar Buff: increased Sollant, increased Abyssal Contract Token Efficiency, and additional Mastery Efficiency. This buff will not stack with Attack/Defense/Hybrid (Combat) buffs.

  • Lucky Lunar Buff: Boss Heavy Attack and Boss Critical Hit Chance. This buff will not stack with currency or experience buffs.

Notable Updates

  • A new Currency tab has been added to the Inventory UI. This tab holds currency-type items across multiple gameplay sources, reducing the amount of items that need to be held in your inventory or storage. Existing currency items in player inventory and storage chests have been converted automatically to the new currency tab format.

  • Party Member List: Numbers assigned to party members now update when the party member list is reordered.

  • Field Bosses: War mode Field Bosses now display a UI element showing each guild’s contribution percentage.

  • Shadowed Crypt: The same chests that spawn at night on Saurodoma Island now also spawn at various locations in Shadowed Crypt.

  • Crafting NPCs in each town can now craft up to Epic tier items, making it so higher-tier crafting is available in all cities.

  • Guild Buffs: Added three new types of Guild buffs, boosting Weapon Mastery, Cooking and Fishing experience, or offering guild member resurrection in a small radius outside of Dungeons or Arenas.

  • Guild Buffs: Removed the standard experience buff from the list of available guild buffs.

  • Guild Buffs: Adjusted the Sollant and Abyss Contract Token Efficiency buffs to provide greater benefit over a longer duration.

  • Dimensional Trials: Killing bosses in Dimensional Trials now offers the same boss loot chest available from the Dungeon version.

  • Siege: Future Castle Siege events will take place at 20:00 (8:00pm) server time in each region, instead of 16:00 (4:00pm).

  • Rune System: Expanded the capacity of the Rune Bag to 300 slots.

  • Weekly Reset: During this maintenance, the weekly content reset time will shift 2 hours, to take place during maintenance windows (08:00 UTC).

General

  • Character: You can now edit current stats instead of fully resetting them, allowing you to adjust the current values without having to re-spend all points.

  • Items: Food: In some cases, multiple food buffs from the same category could be active at the same time unintentionally. Now only Miscellaneous (experience gain type) food buffs can have multiple active effects at the same time.

  • Amitoi Expedition: Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Amitoi expeditions from completing properly at the end of their timer.

  • Map: Removed the ability to track players from your friends, target of interest, and hostile lists through minimap icons.

  • Map: Added weather forecasts to zone information on the World Map.

  • Arena: Purification Stones once again work in arenas.

  • Events: Tax Delivery: Available times to schedule the Tax Delivery event have been adjusted to avoid overlap with certain Dynamic Events that could change the stats of the Tax Delivery Golem.

  • Cooking: The cooking recipe system unintentionally reverted to the multi-quality output version in a prior update. This has been corrected, and cooking recipes once again produce increased quantities of meals instead of different qualities when crafting.

  • Controller: Gate of Infinity: Fixed an issue preventing collection of ranking rewards from Gate of Inifinity when using a controller.

  • Controller: Dimensional Trials: Fixed an issue preventing controllers from adjusting the tier of Dimensional Trial when creating a Party Board recruitment.

  • Spear: Gale Rush: Fixed an issue where the CC removal specialization would sometimes not apply when targeting allies at a distance.

  • Spear: Gale Rush: Fixed an issue that could prevent Gale Rush from being used on enemy targets at slightly higher elevations than the attacker.

  • Field Boss: Ahzriel: Adjusted a location that incorrectly retained Peace status during War mode Ahzriel.

  • Syleus’ Abyss: Adjusted a barrier wall preventing two piton points from being accessible for traversal below the Eastern room.

  • Torture Chamber of Screams: Fixed an issue that caused Shadow of Screams to not properly follow players if they had been pushed with collision skill effects.

UI

  • Inventory: Closing your inventory after opening a container with item rewards will now also close the acquired item popup.

  • Items: Tooltips for gear with set bonuses now indicate which items in the set you have equipped.

  • Guild Raids: Adjusted display of guild raids to clearly show participation rewards versus boss loot rewards.

  • Items: Creating a Lithograph from an item in your inventory will no longer display an untradeable result in the pre-crafting window.

  • Chat: Added additional Chat settings to the settings menu, including expanded chat color options.

  • Mirror Boutique: Added more view angle range to the camera so you can now view your character from more different angles.

  • Sprouts and Sages: Adjusted the display of qualifications for the Sprouts and Sages system.

  • Adventure Codex: Unclaimed rewards from Adventure Codex completion should trigger UI notifications more reliably.

  • Settings: Added the option to hide the item comparison keybind hints at the bottom of equipment tooltips.

  • Fishing Codex: Minor adjustments to the display of caught fish stats and sizes.

  • Skill Conversion: You can now un-select a selected skill used to open the Skill Conversion window.

  • Chat: Adjusted the color of ‘Share in Chat’ links for dungeons to make it more readable.

  • Targeting: Fixed an unintended interaction between selecting party members from the party UI while the ‘Cancel Selection by Clicking Ground’ setting was active.

  • Trait Window: Now displays the list of current traits when viewing the Convert/Unlock Trait submenus.

  • Equipment Presets: Added an option to remove an equipped item from all presets if you have it saved to multiple presets.

Enjoy the new content from NCSoft, and we wish you all a pleasant Lunar New Year.

# Director’s Comments
Greetings, Descendants. This is the Director of The First Descendant, Minseok Joo.Today, I’d like to briefly share some news about our upcoming update. As mentioned in the previous Dev Live, we will be skipping the hotfix scheduled for January 30, which coincides with the Korean Lunar New Year holiday. Instead, we are focusing on preparing for the 1.2.6 minor update, scheduled for release on February 6. This update will include support for keyboard and mouse on consoles, along with platform certifications during this period. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to delivering the minor update on February 6.
1.2.6 Minor Update on February 6 will add Void Erosion Purge Leaderboard, 10 Tiers of Augmentation Cores, and 30 stages of Void Erosion Purge. Let’s see the content advanced with some screenshots.

Void Erosion Purge Leaderboard

We are introducing a leaderboard for Void Erosion Purge that showcases the top players who complete the highest stages in the fastest time. You’ll be able to view rankings not only by platform but also by individual Descendants. Use the leaderboard to study the most effective builds and compete with other Descendants to set record-breaking clear times!

Augmentation Core Upgrade

Craft Core can be accessed through Deslin—yes, it’s Deslin again! 😊
This system allows you to combine lower-tier Augmentation Cores and materials obtained from Void Erosion Purge to create higher-tier Cores. With this update, you’ll be able to craft up to Tier 10 Augmentation Cores, empowering your Ultimate Weapons to reach their full potential.

Void Erosion Purge Stage 30

New stages, ranging from 21 to 30, will be added to Void Erosion Purge.
These stages are significantly more challenging than Stage 20 and will introduce new environments to enhance the experience. The higher the stage, the better the rewards, such as higher-tier Augmentation Cores, but the difficulty will also increase accordingly. Prepare carefully and challenge these new stages to compete on the leaderboard rankings.

In addition to these updates, we’ve prepared various quality-of-life improvements, which will be detailed in a future update patch note. Also, mark your calendars for February 13, when we will release a winter hot spring-themed update. We’ll unveil new skins and share more details about future updates in early February during the next Dev Live, so stay tuned.

As we celebrate the Lunar New Year here in Korea, I’d like to take this opportunity to send my warmest regards to all our global Descendants. May this year be filled with health and happiness for you and your loved ones. We will continue to work hard to bring you joyful experiences throughout the year.

With The Final Descendant constantly getting patches, we will let our readers know when the next update is released very soon

PS5 System Update 25.01-10.60.00.06 Released for Stability and Improvements

[summaraize]

PS5 System Update 25.01-10.60.00.06 is now available for PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles! This is the first update for the consoles in 2025, though don’t expect much from it as it brings some minor improvements.

Oh, and for those wondering, this update does not remove the 30th-anniversary system boot-up screen and theme.

PS5 System Update 25.01-10.60.00.06 Brings More Stability

PS5 Portable

Size: 1.320 GB

  • We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
  • We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.

That’s all there is for this update. That’s not to say that PlayStation could have potentially snuck something hidden with it, which we’re sure the community will find if they did.

Beyond that, PlayStation has yet to tease any more new features coming to the console since the release of the PS5 Pro and the addition of the 30th-anniversary classic boot-up themes. We’re sure we’ll be getting something new later this year for it, though precisely what, well, that’s anyone’s guess.

EA Stock Drops as Dragon Age: The Veilguard Misses Sales Mark by 50%

[summaraize]

While Dragon Age: The Veilguard might have gotten decent review scores when it was released last year, it seems that didn’t translate to sales, so much so, that publisher Electronic Arts’ stock has dropped because of it.

As of Wednesday’s after market trading, EA’s stock has dipped 9% due to the underperformance of EA Sports FC 25 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson Confirms Dragon Age: The Veilguard Underperformed in Sales

Dragon Age: The Veilguard New Update 1.000.005

Wilson said in a report on EA’s preliminary Q3 FY25 results, “During Q3, we continued to deliver high-quality games and experiences across our portfolio; however, Dragon Age and EA SPORTS FC 25 underperformed our net bookings expectations.”

Adding to that, Wilson mentioned how The Veilguard managed to engage approximately 1.5 million players. which is 50% lower than the publisher’s expectations. “Global Football had experienced two consecutive fiscal years of double-digit net bookings growth. However, the franchise experienced a slowdown as early momentum in the fiscal third quarter did not sustain through to the end. As a result, EA revises its outlook for Global Football to end the fiscal year down mid-single-digit at the midpoint of the new outlook. Separately, Dragon Age engaged approximately 1.5 million players during the quarter, down nearly 50% from the company’s expectations.”

Due to the missed mark, EA has now cut its net bookings range from $7B to $7.15B for fiscal year 2025 from its prior target range of  $7.5B to $7.8B. Overall, EA now projects a mid-single-digit decline in live services net bookings compared to its initial projection of mid-single-digit growth.

Looking ahead, Stuart Canfield, CFO of EA, mentioned, “We continue to balance investment for future growth with operational discipline and remain committed to EA’s long-term financial framework. As we look to FY26, we expect to grow as we launch more of our iconic franchises.”

EA will announce the results of its third fiscal quarter ending December 31, 2024, on February 4. We should know more details by then.

With the RPG underperforming commercially, it’s no wonder BioWare isn’t planning on developing any DLC for it. The studio has confirmed they have shifted focus to the next Mass Effect game, which we’re hoping fares better for the studio.

Drop Duchy Demo Preview – A Tough Mixture of Genres

[summaraize]

Sleepy Mill Studio has released a free demo of their upcoming game, Drop Duchy. A mashup of genres, this debut game promises to offer a unique, challenging experience. We’ve spent many rounds building our town up, collecting resources, and fighting the enemy, and have our impressions available now.

Drop Pieces, Collect Cards, Start Fresh

Part Tetris clone, part deckbuilding game, plus the Rogue-lite element of starting fresh each playthrough, describes Drop Duchy at a surface level. There are a lot of moving parts and pieces to consider, and as with either of the main genres the game finds itself in, a bit of luck can be required to get you out of a jam. When things are working well, you can feel like a genius as you beef up your defenses while demolishing the CPU-controlled opponent. When things aren’t going so well, you can’t help but laugh in despair as you flail in a vain attempt at surviving the wall that greets you at the end of the board.

So, for starters, you begin each run with a deck of cards, which dictates what kinds of tetromino-style pieces will be given to you in combat and/or collecting stages. You begin on a board game-like, top-down overview of your kingdom. There are several spots on the map that you can travel to, and each time you move up one level, you may encounter a branching path. Some of these paths are peaceful, or simply a break to collect or trade kingdom resources, while others involve combat against the opposing, CPU-controlled kingdom. Occasionally, the branching path forces you to choose to attack the enemy, or collect resources in a regular puzzle level, with no hostile forces to counteract, but at the cost of the boss waiting for you at the end of the level becoming more powerful. There is a decent amount of strategy to consider even in this simpler-looking portion of the game.

Strategic Placement Wins

Once you do land on a puzzle spot, the core of Drop Duchy begins. You’re given a deck of random tiles, which must be placed strategically as they slowly fall down the battlefield. What’s interesting here is that not only do you get to place your own units, but also those of the enemy’s. In fact, one valid strategy involves the Tetris-like aspect: you can use the reserve spot to simply hang on to an enemy unit. If you manage to place all the other tiles, then that reserve piece is never used. Another change for this part of Drop Duchy is that when a row of tiles is complete, rather than that row disappearing, you are awarded resources for each tile type, which can be used later to upgrade cards or trade at certain spots in the overworld.

As far as piece types go, there are a couple of categories. There are production units, which generate resources for your kingdom, as well as military units, which produce soldiers used to fight. For instance, one building produces 2-3 fighting units for each plains tile it is placed next to. These rules take effect whenever a tile is placed within range of that building, not only when the building is placed down. Therein lies some of the strategy: you can place a unit-generating building near some fields now, and generate some soldiers. But then, a few moves later, you can drop another unit which converts nearby tiles into plains, and the converted plains will generate additional soldiers because of the rules set on that military building you placed down earlier.

Adding further to the strategy in Drop Duchy, each card that generates these pieces can be upgraded, usually at a steep cost to your resources. This generates more units or resources per connected environmental tile, or some other boon to your town. Some passive cards can also be drawn, which have effects such as converting your first forest piece into another type of tile automatically, which can help if you’re focusing on building up a larger army.

Quite a Steep Learning Curve

Drop Duchy is a TOUGH game. Its mixture of strategy and luck remind me of another ruthlessly tough game, Tharsis. If you’re playing on Normal difficulty, expect to lose, and lose a LOT on the first playthroughs. Playing on Easy mode is not only recommended, it may be required for you to learn how the game’s many systems work together to challenge you. This may frustrate some, but considering the game bills itself as a strategy game, most players will likely be in it for the long haul as strategies get devised the longer one plays. Most runs are also short, as in half an hour or less, so you can very quickly test out new methods of collecting resources or see if that new card you discovered helps. Don’t expect the game to pull any punches, however – even a victory on Easy mode is not guaranteed. There is already talk on the Steam Discussions forum for Drop Duchy from Sleepy Mill Studio about needing to tweak the difficulty.

Drop Duchy has a unique mixture of genres going on here, and a difficulty curve to match. Starting on Easy difficulty is recommended, unless you’re a glutton for punishment or are otherwise a strategy expert. Despite this, it does feel rewarding to figure out a strategy that works against a boss, even if sometimes it feels like luck was simply on your side that round.

While the game isn’t due out until April 2025, anyone interested in checking it out for themselves can download the free demo, available on Steam now. Based on the minimum specs, it should run on any computer built within at least the last decade, so give it a shot if it piques your interest.
