Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls – Mystic Artisan And New Weapon Enchantments Detailed

Diablo 3’s first expansion pack, Reaper Of Souls, will add an entire new and the new ‘Paladin’ character class, as well as a number of additional features when it releases on the PC and PlayStation 4 in the near future. However, eager fans have something new to look forward to.

A recent post by Blizzard details a new feature of the Reaper Of Souls expansion: the addition of an new artisan ally, Myriam Jahzia, who’s capable very unique abilities such as enchanting your rare or legendary items to be more powerful by re-rolling one attribute of your choice.

Be cautious, as not all attributes are eligible to be re-rolled. However, you can re-roll an eligible attribute as many times as you wish in order to make that perfect item you’ve been searching for. Once you have, that will be the only attribute that you can re-roll. If you’re feeling a little buyers remorse from the new attribute that you implemented, Myriam does offer to put back the previous attribute that you replaced.

Myriam also has the ability to change the appearance of an item of your choice, thanks to the new Transmogrification feature, that is if you have unlocked the appearance.

Luckily, unlocking appearances for your items to morph into isn’t much of a hassle as it solely depends on your Mystic level. Also, much like other special items throughout Diablo 3, any items that undergoes either of the new enhancements will be binded to your account, meaning friends or anyone else won’t able to pick it up or use it.

A small glimpse of the selection you have to morph your pants into
A small glimpse of the selection you have to morph your pants into

Much like the previous artisans found in Diablo 3, Myriam’s services does comes with a small fee, such as certain crafting materials and the amount of gold necessary to either enchant or morph an item of your choice.

Note: Legacy items (items that were picked up before the expansion goes live) won’t unlock a unique appearance.

At the moment, Reaper Of Souls is currently slated to release on the PC and the PlayStation 4 platform with no known release plans for the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions.

Update 2

It appears the videos below have been moved to another YouTube channel. No “Paracel Storm” or “Seige of Shanghai” footage is available, but we’re all pretty familiar with those maps by now.

Killzone: Shadow Fall Significantly Cuts Down on Loading Times, Requires 7.5 GB Install Before Playing

Killzone: Shadow Fall developers Guerrilla Games have confirmed the game’s size on the PlayStation 4 to weigh in at 39.7GB, slightly lower for versions not needing additional language files.

While that may seem like a hefty install size, you’ll only need to download 7.5GB of it on to your PS4 before playing.

This is using Sony’s PlayGo system, which Guerrilla’s technical director Michiel van der Leeuw told EuroGamer will get fans playing the game much quicker than possible with current generation hardware.

“The bulk of it is textures,” he says. “I think we’re probably a lot larger than the other cross-generation games, because we have no assets that have been made to a lower spec.” Commenting on the game’s more open level design, he also mentions, “the surface area, I’m just guessing here, must be five to 10 times bigger than Killzone 3 was.”

Sure, you may be able to start playing the game quicker, but what about load times? Luckily, the studio has you covered if, like Michiel, you also hate the seemingly never ending loading screens that plague most modern games.

“To me, that’s still something that fills my heart with joy when I see it. You insert the disc and go straight to menu,” he explains. “People here worked very hard… We had to ask legal and Dolby, the epilepsy warning stuff, the logos from Havok – we had to negotiate with them that we could put it in the credits and not the title screen… All the rules are built around the previous generation. I’m really happy that we’re one of the first ones in, and I hope it’s an example that people are going to follow.

“I get as annoyed by all these screens as you do. I’m 36, I don’t have a lot of time to game, when I do I don’t want be distracted by things that have nothing to do with playing the game… We came from a day and age with a cartridge, you stuck it in and like, ‘bleep!’, and you were playing the game. And slowly that has degenerated into experiences which are more beautiful and big and prestigious, but they feel… heavy. To me, it’s about feeling. The feeling of something that, you say play and it starts to play – it feels qualitatively beautiful.”

Be sure to catch Killzone: Shadow Fall’s gorgeous story trailer if you haven’t yet, and don’t forget to pick the game up along side your PlayStation 4 this November 15.

DayZ Origins Sees A Major Update, Introduces The Republic of Novistrana

While the original developers of the DayZ mod are working away on the up and coming standalone version, GamersPlatoon, the developers behind the highly popular DayZ: Origins mod, have released a major update to their iteration of the title.

[youtube id=”bhfhhQMMW4g” width=”618″ height=”378″]

Welcome to Origins 1.7.7 : The Republic of Novistrana, the latest instalment to DayZ Origins. Many months have passed, and the harsh cold from winter has released its grip on Novistrana, a once heavily populated city now beginning to decay like the corpses that litter the streets. Two predominant factions have formed from the few survivors that are left and tensions are growing high. Mayor George and the select few in Salvation City have continued to amass stockpiles of supplies at the expense of those surviving beyond their walls. Meanwhile Professor Vlad, an associate of Dr. Ivan is using his knowledge to help survivors, there are even rumours of developing a vaccine for the infection. Will you find  Professors Vlads camp and make use of his new inventions  or take your chances with Salvation City? The choice is yours.

Those still living and breathing have learnt to adapt to the fresh hell they now call home. Across the world , survivors are gathering resources to not only survive but rebuild their lives. Building new homes hidden away from the overrun cities, humanity is finding a foothold in the most remote places.

Origins Update Key Features.

  • Continuation for Origins Story and new common Survivor Objectives.
  • New set of survivor made buildings mechanics and survivors made weapons.
  • Professor Vlad Inventions: Mega machines, deadly silenced weapons and much more.
  • Survivors Camp: The last standing survivor’s camp, home of professor Vlad and base of his operations.
  • Survivors advanced Interactions:  Surrender, call of friendly support, take prisoners and much more realistic players actions.

  • New dangers: New evil is coming threatening both the living and the dead.
  • Tribes System and Strongholds : clans can now choose clans outfits and distinguish themselves from other survivors.

Unlike traditional DayZ maps which were originally designed for military simulations in Arma, Novistrana was designed from the ground up specifically for DayZ. It was also inspired be scenes and location from the popular movie starring Will Smith, I Am Legend (see concept art above). Like the movie, mother nature is slowly taking over the long-forgotten ruins of the city

The new Near Death Experiences taps into a more spiritual aspect of survival horror games where bandits and killers are hunted by the spirits of the survivors they killed during gameplay.

The DayZ: Origin update is now available for download through this link.

Battlefield 4 “Flood Zone” Gameplay Incoming This Friday, Xbox One and PS4 to Follow

It looks like eager Battlefield 4 fans will not only be able to look forward to some brand new gameplay of one of the game’s more recently introduced multiplayer maps, Flood Zone, but also a first peak at Battlefield 4 running on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

You may remember the urban-set, flood-able map from an earlier developer demonstration with EA’s FTW, as well as from a few short clips from some of the game’s multiplayer trailers.

[youtube id=”UXK_AJjyXr0″ width=”618″ height=”378″]

According to YouTube personality JackFrags, incoming footage of the new map can be expected by this Friday, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gameplay to follow shortly.

Screen Shot 2013-10-23 at 8.25.58 AM

We can also confirm that we’ve received tips from other YouTube personalities regarding incoming footage later this week.

The news is certainly exciting, as the only console footage we’ve managed to witness so far came from shaky, off-screen video from various Battlefield 4 events. This will be the first time we’ve seen Battlefield 4 running on one of the next-gen consoles in high resolution.

You can catch what we’ve seen so far from the PlayStation 4 here and Xbox One here.

Killzone: Shadow Fall Q&A – Co-Op, Splitscreen, Dedicated Servers, Ranking System and More

Answering all of your dying Killzone: Shadow Fall questions, Guerrilla Games developers have gathered a bucket-full of questions from various social media services and organized them into one convenient PlayStation Blog post.

You’ll be able to find a ton of good info here, including talk of co-op, split-screen (which is, unfortunately, something the studio is not currently looking into), dedicated servers, the revamped ranking system, and much more.

Watch out for Killzone: Shadow Fall this November 15, launching alongside the PlayStation 4.

Killzone: Shadow Fall Q&A

@ShawnMacLean: Is Killzone Shadow Fall a good entry point to the Killzone franchise? (source)

Steven Ter Heide: Absolutely! In many ways, Killzone Shadow Fall is a fresh start for the franchise — the game takes place some thirty years after the original Killzone trilogy, so most of the characters and story arcs from those games have passed into history. And while die-hard fans will appreciate the nods to earlier Killzone titles, no knowledge of the Killzone universe is required to get into the story.

@nick_serio: How long is the campaign? (‏source)

STH: Killzone Shadow Fall’s campaign should last well over 10 hours for most gamers.

@DGuetta52: Will Killzone’s campaign be co-op? (source)

STH: No, the campaign will not have a co-op mode. However, we’re planning to release a separate Online Co-op Expansion Pack after launch; it will add a new wave-based game mode, in which up to four players take on hordes of enemies in special arena maps. For more information about the Online Co-Op Expansion Pack, please refer to our Season Pass announcement.

@LB_Ed: Any plans for split screen support? Playing a game has always been more fun locally then online. (source)

STH: We currently have no plans for split-screen support.

@Mr_Tom_B: Will Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer run on dedicated servers, or peer to peer? Will there be peer-to-peer hosting at all? (source)

STH: We are running with dedicated servers to handle the transfer of data between clients.

@IronSir: How will the level system in multiplayer work? (source)

STH: We have a Challenge-based system, where completing one of the 1,500 Challenges will increase your rank by one. We will continue to add new Challenges after launch.

@MrFredchr: Why did you choose to remove XP and levels? (source)

STH: Levels are part of the game, as completing one of the 1,500 Challenges increases your rank. However, we felt XP was less about skill and more about time, so we designed a new system with a greater emphasis on skill.

@Fishrock123: Any news of vehicles in the multiplayer? (source)

STH: Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer will not have any vehicles (such as Exoskeletons or Jetpacks) at launch. We wanted to ensure that player-created, custom Warzones work on all multiplayer maps, and the inclusion of vehicles would have introduced too many new variables and exceptions to guarantee this.

@BucktownzFinest: Since there are Warzones to join, does that mean there’s no standard matchmaking? (‏source)

STH: Not sure what you mean by standard matchmaking, but when you select a Warzone, the game will then look for a suitable match to join.

@WilliamPeter417: How many weapons are available for customization for multiplayer mode? (‏source)

STH: Killzone Shadow Fall will have 22 weapons at launch, and pretty much all of them can be enhanced with various attachments.

@HamseD: Since all the weapons are unlocked, what about the attachments? (source)

STH: Attachments are not unlocked by default — you can unlock them by completing Challenges.

@TheWroster: ‏How will the DS4 touchpad work in this game? (source)

STH: For singleplayer we are using the touchpad to select the mode the OWL is in. It can be set into four different modes with quick swipes on the touchpad. For multiplayer, we use it to bring up menus.

@double_T_azn: Will there be more hand to hand takedowns than what we’ve seen in previous trailers? (source)

STH: We have a variety of melee moves, including combo kills where you take down two enemies in quick succession, or a dropdown melee. The dropdown is also available in multiplayer.

@double_T_azn: Will there be bonuses for transferring Vita saves for Killzone: Mercenary onto the PS4? (source)

STH: No, we have no plans for connectivity between Killzone: Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall.

@nurseman22: My question is: where have you been all my life? (source)

STH: Right here in the studio, working hard on Killzone Shadow Fall!

Titanfall – Xbox Live’s Major Nelson “Not Worried” About Timed Exclusivity

Someone is not worried about Titanfall being only a timed-exclusive for Microsoft’s Xbox platforms or the PC.

Rumor and hearsay will have you believe that Titanfall, the debut shooter coming out of the newly formed Respawn Entertainment studio, will only be exclusive to the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC for a timed period, and will later make its way to platforms like the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4.

While it’s certainly a possibility as lead artist on the game Joel Emslie did say during E3 2013 that developing the game for other platforms is “definitely not out of the question,” official channels have yet to make such an announcement.

As is stands, well-known Xbox Live personality Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, is confident that Titanfall will remain an Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC exclusive for good. Answering questions on Reddit, Hyrb stated, “As far as being an exclusive that’s really a question for Titanfall – I’m not worried about it though.”

Looks like current PlayStation 3 and future PlayStation 4 owners will have to hang tight and either wait for a change of heart, or Titanfall 2.

Thanks, GamingBolt
