Rumor: Persona 6 Said to Be Announced at TGA 2024, Expected to Release in Summer 2025

It’s a fair assumption that Atlus is working on a new installment in the Persona series, especially after the resounding success of the Persona 5, which has sold over 10 million copies. While the game itself hasn’t been officially announced, recent rumors suggest that the long wait for a potential Persona 6 reveal might soon be over.

The latest rumor comes from X/Twitter user P0wyful, who hinted that Persona 6 will make its debut at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, taking place from September 26-29 The Game Awards 2024 which is set for December 12, 2024. P0wyful also suggested that the game could release as early as summer 2025, possibly in July, with three years of post-launch support already planned, including multiple DLC expansions.

P0wyful also mentioned that Persona 6 will be available on most current-generation consoles, though it’s unclear if it will arrive on Nintendo’s long-rumored Switch 2 console.

Report also claims that Persona 6 will explore a “duality” theme, featuring two protagonists—Kuro and Shiro, a male and a female—both students at an art school. The narrative will revolve around their experiences, and the duality concept will play a central role in the story.

This installment will also introduce a semi-open-world structure, providing players with more freedom to explore and interact with the game’s environment. Additionally, reports suggest that the social link system will expand significantly, providing deeper decision-making options.

Furthermore, the main color associated with Persona 6 is reported to be green, following the trend set by previous games—Persona 3 was blue, Persona 4 was yellow, and Persona 5 was red.

It’s important to take all this information with a grain of salt, as none of it has been officially confirmed. However, we’re reporting on this because a well-known leaker, formerly known as Midori, corroborated P0wyful’s claims, stating, “A ton of correct information in this thread.” With both leakers pointing to a Tokyo Game Show 2024 reveal, this adds more credibility to the rumors.

Update: Leaker meant TGA as in The Game Awards and not Tokyo Game Show. Article has been amended to include this clarification and apologies for the confusion.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Will Be a PS5 Exclusive Until Oct. 8 2025 Confirms New Trailer, So Don’t Expect an Xbox Version Until Then

Regardless of which platform you’re gaming now, chances are, you’ve heard that Konami is releasing a Silent Hill 2 remake next month for PS5 and PC. Now for those on Xbox (or even Nintendo) hoping to play this the horror game on your platform, the earliest you can do is is after October 8, 2025.

This was revealed by the latest Silent Hill 2 remake trailer titled “Immersion.” At the end, it mentions the date and how it won’t be “available on other formats” until it passes.

Obviously, there’s a deal made by Sony and Konami on this, which is par for the course for Sony. Mind, I’m not saying it’s OK, as I believe the more people can play this, the better. Of course, don’t expect the Xbox and whatever platform version to be available the day the deal expires, as chances are, that we’ll get an announcement confirming the version first before it’s released a few months after. At the very least, Xbox fans have a glimmer of hope that they’ll be able to play the horror remake at some point in the future.

For the latest look at Silent Hill 2, go check out 13 minutes of gameplay here, where we also listed the different editions and pre-order bonuses for players.

Silent Hill 2 is set for release this October 8 on PS5 and PC.

Sea of Thieves Down for Emergency Maintenance This Sept. 20, as Patch Version 1.339.415 Is Released

Rare has pulled the Sea of Thieves servers down without for emergency maintenance this September 20, as a new update patch version 1.339.415 is rolled out to address multiple issues affecting the game that stemmed from the Season 13 patch released just yesterday.

The maintenance started at 1 pm UTC/9 am ET/6 am PT/9 pm HKT, and has no set duration just yet per Rare.

Sea of Thieves Update Version 1.339.415 Patch Notes:

Here are some of the fixes being implemented today and for another fix planned for next week per Production Director Drew Stevens:

Fishing Rod Issues – 20/09 Hotfix
This update introduced an issue with the fishing rod that has had massive ramifications on the wider experience, from new launching exploits and negative player interactions to affecting wider game stability, with players experiencing elevated Marblebeard and Allmondbeard errors.

The team have been working to expedite a hotfix for the root cause of this issue, which from internal testing shows to have resolved all of the various use cases we are seeing reported from Live. We will be taking the game down for maintenance on Friday afternoon [13:00 UTC, 20th September 2024] and deploying a small game update to address these issues ahead of the weekend.

While there are clearly other issues we are still prioritising fixes for, we wanted to expedite an update here for the fishing rod as fast as we could, and therefore further fixes will now be taken in a follow-up release next week.

Follow-up 26/09 Hotfix
We’re also working on a follow-up hotfix targeting Thursday next week which addresses further high-impact issues currently affecting players in Live.

  • Throwing Knife Interactions – The team have identified the issue causing throwing knives to become stuck when colliding with allied crew members, and the recent regression to throwing knives able to be placed in the capstan to disrupt naval combat. Fixes will be heading into Insiders testing on Tuesday.
  • Burning Blade Disappearing – A crewed Burning Blade will now have a short grace period before it sinks to protect from scenarios where the Captain temporarily disconnects from the session. In the event of a crew purposefully leaving the game while in control of the Burning Blade, it will now sink naturally rather than use the visual effects that would signify it had been handed in at The Reaper’s Hideout. These changes will be heading into Insiders testing this Friday.
  • Burning Blade’s Skeleton Crew – An issue causing the Obsidian Skeleton crew from disappearing when returning to the Burning Blade via a Mermaid or Statue has been resolved and confirmed with Insiders.
  • Further Crash Rate Improvements – The team have identified further improvements to crash rates that will be heading into Insiders on Tuesday for testing.

That’s about it. Once the servers are back up, we’ll update the article with the info, so sit tight!

PS5 System Update 24.06-10.01.00 Released for Stability and Games’ Graphical Bugs Issue

Just last week, Sony rolled out a hefty PS5 firmware patch that introduced the Welcome Hub among other improvements and new features. Unfortunately, this also brought with it, issues affecting some games. That should be resolved with today’s PS5 system update 24.06-10.01.00 that’s available for download now this September 20.

PS5 System Update 24.06-10.01.00 Patch Notes:

Download Size: 1.2GB

Sony’s official changelog only mentions:

  • We’ve improved system software performance and stability.

Just a few days ago, Square Enix confirmed that they were working with Sony to sort the graphical issues affecting Final Fantasy 16.

Note that the issues didn’t just affect Final Fantasy 16, but also other titles such as Star Wars Outlaws, No Man’s Sky and more. There’s a Reddit thread about where gamers talked about it in-depth:

New System Update is screwing up Graphics in Game.
byu/dabigsiebowski inPS5

This patch should alleviate those graphical and crashing issues and hopefully, there won’t be another bug that surfaces from this.If you notice that some games are still having issues, leave a comment below and let us know.

God of War Ragnarok on PC Gets Review Bombed Hours Upon Release by Gamers Due to PSN Account Requirement, Though Oddly Is Only Randomly Forcing It

God of War Ragnarok is officially out on PC, opening to a stream of gamers on a whole new platform for the very first time. While the PC release is every bit of a masterpiece like it was with the PS5 version, but with more features to take advantage of, not all is well, at least on Steam, as players have begun review-bombing God of War Ragnarok all due to an apparent PSN account requirement.

(Editor’s Note: Title updated for better clarity)

God of War Ragnarok’s Apparent PSN Requirement on PC has PC Players Riled Up.

Though the news of God of War Ragnarok requiring a PSN account on PC to play is something that has been announced by Sony before, that hasn’t stopped PC players from voicing their criticism of the requirement in the form of review bombing. Over on Steam, God for War Ragnarok currently sits at a 64%  player recommendation, with countless reviews referring to the requirement for their low rating.

While it can be argued that many, if not most, of these users’ data is already out there, it is still an understandable reasoning for not wanting to create a PSN, especially to play a single-player game. Then there are also those who are left out on PC, a platform which many enjoy for its openness. There are countless PC players who were hoping to try out the sequel to the first rebooted title, but they can’t since it’s not sold in their country due to the requirements to play it. We saw such a case when Sony pulled Helldivers 2 from multiple countries despite previously being available until they started forcing the PSN requirement.

Now here’s the kicker: While the game does ask players to create a PSN account to play, it is not happening to everyone. Based on our own testing, you can play it without it, and this has been echoed by other games as well.

However, some gamers are not able to bypass it, while some can. Here’s a discussion on-going on the game’s Steam page:

The stream mentioned is here in case you want to see it for yourself.

We admit, requiring to create a PSN account just to play a single-player game is a bummer. Of course, there are means to circumvent it, such as using VPNs to create an account, but those are hoops that many aren’t too fond of. What’s odd here is the seemingly randomness of it. We’ve reached out to Sony about it, and will update the article if we get a response back.

Whether or not Sony reverse course on this is anyone’s guess, though given all the recent sleight of PlayStation releases on PC, something tells us this requirement will stay for the long haul.

The Sims 5 Not in Development, Multiple Sims Projects in the Works

Electronic Arts (EA) has officially confirmed that it has no plans to develop The Sims 5. Instead, the company outlined its future strategy for one of its most popular franchises, choosing to continue supporting The Sims 4. EA has abandoned the traditional sequel model, opting not to release a successor to The Sims 4.

This was revealed during the EA Investor Day presentation, and also in an interview with Variety, Kate Gorman, vice president and general manager of the franchise, stated that The Sims 5 will not be developed. Instead, the studio will focus on releasing more expansions for The Sims 4 and enhancing the game with new features. This decision has surprised many who were eagerly anticipating a sequel, but there is a clear rationale behind it.

According to Gorman, EA does not want The Sims 5 to be seen as a replacement. The franchise director pointed out that there are more than 80 million Sims 4 players worldwide, and there is concern that they might feel they have to start over with a new game.

Gorman said:

What we’re really working with our community on is this a new era of ‘The Sims.’ We are not going to be working on replacements of previous projects; we’re only going to be adding to our universe. With that, you’ll see there are more ways to experience ‘The Sims’ on different platforms, different ways to play, transmedia, and lots of great offerings within this universe.

This decision appears to be a sound one, given that The Sims 4 has been on the market for over 10 years and has a wealth of expansions and content packs. Rather than just another chapter in the series, The Sims 4 has evolved into a game as a service.

A few years ago, EA announced Project Rene, a concept that would lay the foundation for the next generation of The Sims. The studio planned to transform the game into a social experience that other people could engage with, alongside offering more powerful creation tools for players.

Since its reveal, many fans had assumed Project Rene was The Sims 5. However, this announcement clarifies that EA doesn’t intend Project Rene to replace The Sims 4 but rather to extend the franchise. EA will directly apply the learnings from Project Rene to The Sims 4. Importantly, EA has not officially canceled the concept of The Sims—instead, it is taking a new approach to the franchise.

Gorman explained:

It’s not ‘Sims 5’ as a replacement for ‘4.’ “What this means is that we will continue to bring HD simulation experience and what people would want from a ‘5’ — but it doesn’t mean that we’re going to start you over, reset all your progress, and really feel like you’re going to lose all of that amazing play you put into ‘4.’

In a blog post, EA also mentioned that The Sims will move beyond linear, sequential releases and offer more options. The game has shifted away from being a traditional franchise to becoming more of an entertainment platform. All technological advancements and new features will be applied directly to The Sims 4.

Alongside this announcement, EA President Laura Miele also revealed that the company has outlined plans for four different Sims projects. These include continuing support for The Sims 4, The Sims Project Rene, My Sims, and The Sims Project Stories. All of these projects will be interconnected through The Sims Hub.

END DATE:

SEASONS 2.0

Seasonal Journey

The new Seasonal Journey introduces a structured progression system with 7 sequential missions, each containing 8 objectives. It is designed to guide players through the early stages of each new season, offering a mix of challenges and goals that introduce key mechanics. Available from level 1, even new players can jump right into the current season’s content.

The entire Seasonal Journey unlocks at the start of the season. As you complete each mission and objective, you’ll earn various rewards, including XP, Season Pass XP, progression-boosting items, resources, and active modifiers. Completing the entire journey will grant you a unique cosmetic item.

Seasonal Modifiers

The Seasonal Modifiers are central to each season’s unique gameplay, spicing up the usual rules and mechanics of the game. There are four distinct types of modifiers, each playing a crucial role in shaping player experience:

  • Global Modifiers set the overall theme of the season and are active at all times while the system is enabled, affecting the core gameplay loop.
    • In the first season, the theme is “range.” The Global Modifier, “Point Blank,” grants a bonus damage based on distance from enemies.
  • Active Modifiers function like “ultimate” abilities, giving your character a short burst of power.
    • Players can choose from a selection of Active Modifiers, but only one can be equipped at a time. For the first season, they manipulate the range zones set by the Global Modifier.
  • Passive Modifiers work in conjunction with the Global Modifier, adding extra bonuses.
    • Players can equip up to three Passive Modifiers simultaneously. In the first season, these modifiers provide additional benefits based on the range zones from the Global Modifier.
  • Hostile Modifiers: These represent how the enemies adapt to your new abilities.
    • As players progress through the season, enemies will gradually gain new abilities linked to specific enemy types, forcing you to use the Global, Passive, and Active Modifiers strategically to counter them.

The modifier system can be disabled at any time and is mutually exclusive with global events, allowing players to control how they engage with the seasonal challenges.

Priority Objectives

The Priority Objectives system offers a variety of short-term objectives, enhancing the way players can farm for items and resources in the game. The Priority Objectives system becomes available upon reaching level 30.

Players can choose from three objectives, selecting one based on limited information such as duration, reward category, and mission type. Once a selection is made, it is locked in, and the full details of the objective and its rewards will be revealed.

If none of the objectives appeal to the player, the system allows for rerolls. Players can earn reroll points by completing Priority Objectives, with a maximum of three rerolls stored at any time.

There is no limit to the number of Priority Objectives a player can complete, and rewards include XP, Season Pass XP, items, resources, and passive modifier unlocks.

Manhunt Scouts

Manhunt Scouts is a new system that drives the game’s narrative by requiring players to complete weekly activities that reward them with equipment, XP, materials, and, most importantly, new collectibles.

Each week, players can tackle a Scout, which consists of three different activities. These activities will vary, and players must solve a small riddle to complete each one. Activities should be completed in order, and once all three are finished, players will receive the Scout Reward.

Once all activities in a Scout are completed, players will receive a bigger reward, including a unique collectible. However, new Scouts cannot be accessed until the current one is completed.

By the end of the season, completing all Scouts unlocks the Manhunt Climax Mission, and finishing that unlocks the Master Climax Mission, so make sure to stay on track each week.

UPDATED LOOT POOL

Named Weapons

In TU22, a fresh batch of Named Weapons will be added to the loot pool for missions and mission bosses. Here’s what you need to know:

  • The original loot tables will remain unchanged, but will now include additional opportunities to obtain the newly added items.
  • While these items will have a higher drop rate, they are not guaranteed rewards and may still require multiple attempts to acquire.
  • The likelihood of these weapons dropping will increase with the difficulty level of the mission.
  • These new loot drop chances will be exclusively available for characters at level 40 or above.
  • Importantly, these changes will not apply to “invaded” missions and are limited to their regular versions.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Could Be the End of the Series, as Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura Wants to Retire in a Few Years

Tetsuya Nomura created 12 video games in the last four years, taking on the role of creative director for about half of them, including Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion and the recent Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Now, as he continues to work on Final Fantasy VII Remake: Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4, Nomura, who will soon turn 54, has begun to think about retiring from the video game industry. He mentioned that his retirement could coincide with the completion of both major projects.

In an interview with YoungJump, Nomura said, “I only have a few years left until I retire. I have to decide whether to retire first or finish the series first.” This statement suggests that Kingdom Hearts 4 may serve as the final chapter in the long-running series, which began in 2002. He also said, “I’m making Kingdom Hearts IV now with the intention of it being a story that will be completed.”

Nomura may have made the statement about “only a few years left” with an ironic tone, suggesting not his retirement but the long development cycles of AAA games. In today’s industry, high-budget productions often take four to five years to complete, which could be what he was referring to.

The announcement of Kingdom Hearts 4 in 2022 hinted at the beginning of a new storyline, the Lost Master Arc. However, Nomura’s contemplation of retirement raises questions about how long the story will continue. With his hands full on both the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy and Kingdom Hearts 4, questions remain about what Nomura will ultimately decide regarding his future in the gaming industry.

I just want to temper expectations, since this isn’t the first time Sony released something like this before. Scalpers just snatched these up and are reselling them at exorbitant prices. Title Update Notes

GAMEPLAY

  • Added ability to Save Custom Audibles across all modes.
    • Dev Note: As you change audibles in your formation at play call, they will save automatically and will not change from game to game. You will be able to do this for up to 32 playbooks. To change audibles, press LT/L2 after choosing a formation in playcall.
  • Tuned Wear and Tear to slow down the accrual rate.
  • Fixed a kickoff exploit where players could cause the ball to not be caught by the receiving team.
    • Dev Note: We will continue to monitor feedback on this fix and will make further changes if necessary.
  • Fixed an issue with Smart Routed Custom Stems which resulted with a Speed Boost off the line at the snap.
  • Slight Composure tuning to increase the impact to attributes when getting hot or cold.
  • Several Zone Coverage AI improvements:
    • Addressed an issue preventing the Curl Flat zone depth coach adjustment from working properly when set at less than 15 yards.
    • Addressed an issue causing Curl Flat defenders to continue to drift away from an eligible receiving threat in close proximity.
    • Addressed an issue causing outside Deep Third defenders to bail too quickly from their alignment at the snap.
  • General CPU play call and coach suggestion tuning across all modes.
    • Dev Note: We adjusted play-call situations for certain coverages to be used more frequently vs Trips and Bunch formations.
  • Partnered with a current Run and Shoot coach to improve authenticity in the run and shoot offense, this will include some minor adjustments to pre-existing plays and the inclusion of new plays in Run and Shoot Offensive playbook.
  • Added new defensive plays for Nickel 3-3 Over and Nickel Over that are designed to bring pressure from the outside:
    • Edge Blitz 0
    • Edge Blitz 3
    • FS Will Blitz 0
  • Added Cover 3 Buzz Mable in Nickel 3-3 Over, Nickel Over, and Nickel 3-3 Odd.
    • This version is ideal for defending formations with three receivers to the same side, such as Trips or Bunch.
  • Added Cover 4 Field Drop to Nickel 3-3 Over and Nickel Over
    • Dev Note: This is a 3-man rush with 8 defenders dropping into coverage; by default, the Nickel DB aligns to the wide side of the field and the defensive end on the opposite side (short side of the field) will drop into coverage.

  • Added Nickel 3-3 Mint to the 3-3-5 playbook.

  • Adjusted a defensive alignment and run fit issues with the plays in Nickel 3-3 Mint.
  • Changed who the 4th rusher from an inside linebacker to an outside linebacker in 3-3-5 Mint Cover 4 Quarters and Palms.

DYNASTY

  • Fixed an issue where selecting auto-fix schedules in custom schedules would not correctly fix the schedule.

Player AC related fixes

  • Fixed an issue that occurs when equipping a chargeable shoulder mounted weapon and pressing the shift control button while being staggered, resulting in any attack following the initial stagger to not incur a heavy stagger state on the player.
  • During online play, fixed an issue where players releasing the guard button right before becoming staggered would cause subsequent attacks to not result in a heavy stagger state.
  • Fixed an issue where hits would sometimes not register when attacking enemies using Pulse Armor/Terminal Armor with a melee weapon
  • Fixed an issue that caused melee attacks to not connect with enemies due to interactions with walls and terrain.
  • Fixed an issue that caused player AC to continuously float upwards after recovering from falling out of the map area

Online match related Fixes

  • In Ranked Matches, the change to rating for S-Rank matches has been adjusted.
*Specifically, the number of matches required for the rating value to even-out has been increased.
This is to avoid the the player being repeatedly demoted/promoted shortly after reaching S-Rank.
  • Fixed an issue that, under certain circumstances, players not subject to rank resets would be unable to progress past the rank-up results phase

System related fixes

  • Fixed issue that caused game to crash after customizing AC via the ASSEMBLY menu.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes occurred after applying WEATHERING via the PAINT menu, resulting in graphical abnormalities as well as game crashes.

Steam version related fixes

  • Fixed an issue where in-game movies would not play if the PC’s sound device was disabled.
  • Fixed an issue where pressing Alt+Enter to change the screen mode would result in SYSTEM Menu>Graphics Settings not being selectable.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the key icons shown within “input device settings>key settings” to not display correctly for certain languages.

Other

  • Other bug fixes and improvements

When the next update is released, we will let our readers know.

Sea of Thieves Update 1.338.626 Released This September 19

Rare has released a new update for Sea of Thieves for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. This is update 1.338.626 and the game will be taken offline temporarily until the patch is rolled out worldwide. Check out the details down below.

Sea of Thieves Update 1.338.626 Patch Notes:

Gameplay Improvements

Sprinting with One-Handed Items

  • Players are now able to sprint while carrying one-handed treasure items and discovered weapons. During sprinting, the item will now be stowed on a player’s belt, fully visible to other players.
  • The majority of held weapons discoverable around the world can now also be stowed while sprinting, such as the Trident of Dark Tides and Ashen Winds Skull. The Skull of Siren Song is the exception, and players will not be able to sprint while wielding it.

Blunderbuss Balancing

  • With the new identity of the Blunderbuss now settling into live play, the team have been fine-tuning the weapon’s power. The focus here remains in defensive play styles, with these changes further swaying the knockback power in favour of the defending player.
  • Blunderbuss knockback has now been tuned with a reduction to its overall knockback power. The knockback trigger range has been reduced, requiring the target to be much closer, and the horizontal distance players are blasted back has also been reduced.
  • Alongside the closer trigger range, the knockback will now trigger when a player is hit with a single pellet, increasing the consistency of knocking back a player when caught in range.
  • Players using a ship interaction point such as the ship’s wheel will now be braced from the knockback effects and will not be propelled the full knockback distance.

Throwing Knife Balancing

  • The time taken to bring a knife into an aimed state has been reduced, and the thrown knife speed has been increased, allowing players to throw more quickly.
  • The controller rumble when using throwing knives has been improved, giving it a softer feel.

Pirate Emporium

Show off your personal style with purchases from the Pirate Emporium! Pick up exclusive cosmetics such as ship liveries, costumes, weapons, pets and emotes using your Ancient Coins, purchasable with real money. Head to the Pirate Emporium page to browse and buy the latest additions!

New Items – Now in Stock!

  • Iron Turtle Ship Collection – This collection will also include a Cannon Flare, delivered in a later update. Players purchasing the Iron Turtle Ship Bundle now will automatically be granted access to the Iron Turtle Cannon Flare once it releases in November.
  • Iron Turtle Weapon Bundle
  • Iron Turtle Clothing Bundle
  • Sunken Sorrow Curse Mau and Whippet
  • Tourist Emote Bundle
  • Well-Travelled Trader Ship Collection (returning from Season 11 Plunder Pass)
  • Well-Travelled Trader Clothing Bundle (returning from Season 11 Plunder Pass)
  • Conductor Emote (free!)

Outpost Cosmetics

New Outpost Stock!

  • The Piscine Courtly Jacket and a range of new Corset Shirts are all available from the Outpost clothing shops for those with enough gold to spare.
  • Outpost shops also now stock the Flaming Jackal Blunderbuss, Pistol and Fishing Rod.

Updates

Player Reporting Improvements

  • The in-game Report a Player tool now supports a range of additional reasons that can be used when reporting other players, including Hate Speech and Profanity. As with all reports, these are sent directly to the Sea of Thieves Support team for investigation and follow-up action.
  • All reports sent through the in-game Report a Player tool will now show an acknowledgement of the report, clearly defining the players, the reported reason and a reference code.
  • After an in-game report is filed and an action taken by the Sea of Thieves Support team, the player will now receive an update to their report when logging into the game. This update will confirm that an action has been taken or that further information is required.
  • Supporting information can often aid with the player report, so if further information is requested, please gather evidence and raise a new support request, quoting the reference number of the in-game report (in the event of a missing reference number, don’t worry as our Support team can still locate your report). For further information on providing supporting evidence, please see this article on Required Supporting Evidence at the Sea of Thieves Support site.

Fixed Issues

Gameplay

  • Players attempting to use a fishing rod after being fired from a cannon will no longer be able to modify their trajectory while in the air.
  • Players attempting to utilise external tools to teleport to other ships will now be detected and issued with enforcement.
  • Crews are no longer able to cause emergent Skeleton Captains to reappear on islands once defeated.
  • Crews purchasing Supply Crates from the Merchant Alliance should now consistently be able to retrieve a crate after purchase.
  • All pistols within the Armoury have been reviewed and their aiming improved to ensure shots now align with the tip of the barrel, or the iron sights for those that have them.
  • Crews taking on a Treasure Vault Voyage for the Gold Hoarders should no longer be led to the open sea at K-11 by the Wayfinder Compass.
  • If a crew begins a vote without reaching a majority decision, when crew members leave and the result becomes a majority decision the vote will now automatically pass without requiring the crew to vote again.
  • Scoping a crewed Burning Blade from a distance will no longer display the Captain’s Ship Banner if the crew were sailing a Captained ship prior to the Burning Blade.
  • Pets being held while travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned will no longer appear to be drowning.
  • Due to various issues involving Megalodon encounters with a crewed Burning Blade, Megalodons will not appear for a Burning Blade crew in this update, and any encountered in the world will ignore the crew.
  • Enemies within Skeleton Camps now continue to appear even when a crew has an active Bounty or Merchant Contract quest at the same island.
  • The Fates of Fortune Gloves are now locked behind the appropriate grade of the Fortune’s Favour Commendation.
  • Players purchasing the Deluxe Edition of Sea of Thieves will now correctly receive both variants of the Dark Warsmith Costume. Players who were missing this item will now find it in their cosmetic chests.

  • In the Captaincy tutorial, the Pirate Lord no longer reacts to fire.
  • The Omen Wheel should no longer intersect with the player’s hands.
  • Clearing all map markers while on the Burning Blade now uses the correct audio effect.
  • Visual effects on the Graveyard Grim Whippet are now consistent with other pets.
  • The Mad Monkey Cannons should no longer twitch when a player is inside them.
  • ‘Captains of the Damned’ – The Lockpick now appears at the correct size when held in the player’s hand.
  • ‘Lords of the Sea’ – The Dead Man’s Chest Key now remains the same size when dropped on the ground.
  • ‘Shores of Gold’ – The Gold Hoarder’s Coin now remains the same size when dropped on the ground.
  • ‘The Journey to Mêlée Island’ – A missing voice line in Guybrush’s dialogue during the Mansion animated cutscene has been added.

Environment

  • Treasure items deposited near the Armoury on the Burning Blade will now continue to be interactable.
  • The Burning Blade should no longer pass through the top of the arch at Marauder’s Arch.
  • Players can no longer walk through parts of the environment within the Skeleton Camp at the Lagoon of Whispers.
  • The skeletons at Barnacle Cay’s Skeleton Camp will now be able to climb the staircases within the Temple.
  • Improvements have been made to terrain at the Fort of the Damned, Lost Gold Fort and Crow’s Nest Fortress to reduce scenarios where items and enemies could become stuck.
  • The Shrine of the Coral Tomb no longer has a missing wall texture in one of the chambers.
  • Obsidian Skeletons should no longer appear on islands near Skeleton Camps.

  • Improved the accuracy of Polish translations for the Merchant Alliance delivery guidelines.
  • Corrected inconsistencies in Motley Mariner items across a range of languages.
  • Improved clarity between Bone Caller and Bone Caller Skeletons across a range of languages.

Rare has not posted the patch notes yet, but you can read the maintenance announcement posted down below.

Rare also posted that a Season 13 Community Weekend is happening this week. You can read the details below.

Season 13 Community Weekend Shimmies In From September 21st

Sashay along for freebies, boosts, Pop-Up Plunder, special Voyages and shared celebrations!
It had to be this particular weekend, of course, following on from Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th. So brace for impact because we’re about to come at you again with the latest celebratory get-together on the seas, running from 11am UTC on Saturday, September 21st to the same time on Monday, September 23rd!

As always, the Community Weekend vibe runs both ways and we encourage players to save something to share with us and their fellow pirates while it’s in progress, whether we’re talking adventures, creations, ideas or good old-fashioned sentiment – all while enjoying everything else that’s going on, from freebies and discounts to special Voyages and Plunder. But let’s kick off with that all-important Community Emissary Grade…

Practising Twitchcraft

You know the drill: while Community Weekend is live, log in to Twitch and tune in to any streamer in the Sea of Thieves category, and your viewing hours will count towards a cumulative total. That total in turn drives up the Community Emissary Grade, increasing the multiplier on gold, reputation, Seasonal Renown, Allegiance and Guild Reputation for all players! Max it out at Grade Five and that’s two-and-a-half times the usual rewards for everyone until Community Weekend draws to a close.

Not sure who to watch? Don’t forget our Sea of Thieves Partner Directory will let you see who’s live, we have an archive of Creator Spotlights stretching back years and we’ll even be getting involved in our own trademark barely planned way with a Saturday stream on the Sea of Thieves channel. Keep tabs on our socials as we approach the weekend for more details of what time we’ll be live!

Stop, Drop and Roll Up

As anyone who’s taken part in a previous Community Weekend will know, the fun starts as soon as you turn up to find free gifts falling into your lap. This time you can expect to be awarded the exclusive Season 13 Community Weekend Flag, along with the hypnotic Shimmy Dance Emote. And you can’t tell us you don’t want that.

Further freebies can be claimed through Twitch Drops: a spyglass and shovel from the Stormy Sea Dog set, a concertina and bucket from the Stalwart Sea Dog set, and of course our latest stygian stretch goal: the Obsidian Captain’s Table. Once again, the community must come together to unlock this beauty, this time by collectively completing a total of 100,000 World Events. That’ll cause the Obsidian Captain’s Table to become earnable through Twitch Drops and go on to brighten up the cabin of any Captained ship! Well, maybe brighten isn’t the right word, but you know what we mean.

Still unfulfilled by all the freebies? Then you may expand your options once again by browsing the Talk Like a Pirate Day Sale in the Pirate Emporium, which not only offers visitors its own freebie (the Rage Unleashed Emote) but defies its own name by actually running for eight days from September 19th–27th. Lodestar bargains! Mandrake markdowns! Stone Islehopper Outlaw steals! Pretty Polly Sails back in stock for a limited time (possibly eight days)!

Pop-Up Plunder Persists

Cosmetics are all well and good, but we understand you also want treasure – ideally treasure worth an eye-twitching amount of gold if handed in when the Community Emissary Grade is riding high. To bring you more chances of finding such enviable items, Pop-Up Plunder is back in play for Season 13 Community Weekend!

You’ll get an in-game notification when a Pop-Up Plunder spot is activated, and clues on Sea of Thieves social channels such as Twitter/XInstagram and Discord will steer you in the right direction. Each server only has one piece of plunder so it’s a race to unearth it before any other crew on the same server – and a race against the clock to do that within one hour, before the treasure evaporates in a puff of glitter and shattered dreams. But live up to the pressure and you’re sure to get something good out of it! Probably. It might even be one of the fancy loot-packed Community Crates introduced for the occasion…

Mountains of Bounty

The time-limited treats don’t end with Pop-Up Plunder: you’ll also find also some lucrative new Voyages lined up on the Quest Table during the weekend. Keen to take advantage of increased traffic on the seas, those skeleton-hating scamps in the Order of Souls will be placing Bounties on unsavoury Obsidian and Shadow Skeleton Captains found loitering at the Skeleton Camps introduced in Season 13.

While you can’t repeat these new Bounty Voyages indefinitely – after all, there’s an in-game economy probably best left intact – you will get multiple cracks of the whip, so enjoy! While this skelly-targeting treat lasts, you’ll find it under Special Voyages on the Quest Table.

Sign Your Name Across My Hat

As always, we encourage all pirates to join in the spirit of Community Weekend by sharing their own captivating clips, unhinged undertakings and consummate crafts inspired by Sea of Thieves. Tag whatever you’ve got on social media with the venerable #BeMorePirate hashtag, as we’ll be staying frosty for new favourites to reward with the Hat of Unfeasibly Glorious Fame! You’re also free to nominate other players who you think deserve this long-winded reward for their own accomplishments, or the simple good vibes they bring to the community – and you can do that starting right ruddy now.

There will of course be the traditional Picture Wall at the Outposts too, in sleek new Season 13 Community Weekend colours, so we hope you’ll share your finest and most raucous crew pics from any or all of those during your weekend adventures!

Sea What We Did There

It’s got all the makings of another unforgettable weekend, so slip on your finest freebooting footwear and join us from September 21st–23rd, whether you have something you want to share or you’re simply there for the stonks. Both are valid.

One last thing we should mention to ensure you don’t miss out: in the unifying spirit of Community Weekend, you’ll need to be sailing in the open world of High Seas to take advantage of all the antics outlined above, from Community Emissary Grade gains to the perks of Pop-Up Plunder. So if you’re usually a Safer Seas sailor, now’s the time to brave those busier waters. We’ll see you there!

We will update this post as soon as possible if the proper patch notes are revealed.

Nintendo Sues Palworld Developer Over “Multiple” Patent Infringements; Pocketpair Issues Statement

Just a few hours ago Nintendo issued a statement confirming that they are suing Palworld developer Pocketpair Inc. for infringing over “multiple” patents, which really shouldn’t shock that many people given similarities Palworld has with Pokemon.

The filing announcement was made by Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa.

This lawsuit seeks an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages on the grounds that Palworld, a game developed and released by the Defendant, infringes multiple patent rights.

Nintendo will continue to take necessary actions against any infringement of its intellectual property rights including the Nintendo brand itself, to protect the intellectual properties it has worked hard to establish over the years.

Now, Pocketpair has issued a statement on the matter as well.

Regarding the Lawsuit

Yesterday, a lawsuit was filed against our company for patent infringement.

We have received notice of this lawsuit and will begin the appropriate legal proceedings and investigations into the claims of patent infringement.

At this moment, we are unaware of the specific patents we are accused of infringing upon, and we have not been notified of such details.

Pocketpair is a small indie game company based in Tokyo. Our goal as a company has always been to create fun games. We will continue to pursue this goal because we know that our games bring joy to millions of gamers around the world. Palworld was a surprise success this year, both for gamers and for us. We were blown away by the amazing response to the game and have been working hard to make it even better for our fans. We will continue improving Palworld and strive to create a game that our fans can be proud of.

It is truly unfortunate that we will be forced to allocate significant time to matters unrelated to game development due to this lawsuit. However, we will do our utmost for our fans, and to ensure that indie game developers are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas.

We apologize to our fans and supporters for any worry or discomfort that this news has caused.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Palworld and Pocketpair.

This legal notice comes hot at the heels of what seems to be a PS5 version announcement of Palworld set for Tokyo Game Show this incoming week.

While there’s no doubt that Palworld has similarities to Pokemon, it doesn’t really copy its gameplay, though I can’t say the same for the character designs. We’ll keep our readers updated on the situation as more info surfaces.
