NBA 2K23 update 1.015 is now out on current-gen platforms this June 26 (last-gen got a patch but with a different version number), and this is another unannounced title update by the studio. Given we just got Season 7 this May, and the NBA season is officially over, don’t expect anything major from it.

NBA 2K23 Update 1.015 Patch Notes for June 26:

Download Size: 1.6GB (PS5)

Visual Concepts has not made any announcements for today’s patch, though the studio did mention new cosmetics being available this week, which could necessitate the client-side download.

As for Season 7, here’s what to expect in Week 6 that will last until June 30:

We’re also keeping an eye out on the NBA 2K community, and if anything is spotted that got changed, we’ll update the article with the info as well (official or not). Of course, given the NBA season is over and we’ll soon be getting info about NBA 2K24, we’re not expecting anything major from today’s patch.

Hopefully we hear something from Visual Concepts later today. If anything gets announced or teased about Season 8, we’ll let our readers know and update the article.

Destiny 2 Server Connection Issues Arises With “Baboon,” “Weasel” and “Loganberry” Error Codes Surfacing This June 25 (Update)

Those running into Destiny 2 server issues or finding multiple people saying the game is down, it’s an on-going issue that’s plaguing console and PC players currently. Destiny 2 error codes “Baboon,” “Weasel” and “Loganberry” are some of the things players are seeing this June 25.

Destiny 2 Server Connection Issues and Down Reports of Error Codes This June 25:

Update: Bungie has announced that Destiny 2 is undergoing maintenance due to the errors. You can keep track of the downtime right here.

Here’s the announcement from the official Bungie Support Twitter account:

For reference, here’s what each error code means (via PCGamesN):

Error code baboon

Error code baboon is caused by a failure to connect to another user’s PC/console. It can be due to poor connection quality, so ensure that your home network equipment is set up correctly, and is free of faults.

Error code weasel

Error code weasel is, in Bungie’s words, an ‘all-encompassing’ error message that usually means you’re experiencing a general network issue. It can also indicate an account ban if you were in the middle of an activity when the ban occurred, although this appears to be a rare occurrence.

As you can see, Bungie is still investigating, which means the errors are still there. We’ll update the article once more info is know about it, so refresh this article from time to time.

Final Fantasy 16: Best Accessories to Equip

Final Fantasy 16 (styled as Final Fantasy XVI) offers the ability to customize your playstyle through the use of accessories—pieces of gear that you can equip that grant various effects. Final Fantasy 16’s best accessories not only improve your combat proficiency but also make the game easier to progress in. In this guide, we’ll show you some of the best accessories that you can get throughout your journey across Valisthea.

Final Fantasy 16 Best Accessories:

Cleric’s Medallion/High Cleric’s Medallion

This accessory boosts the potency of your potions by 20% and high potions and 25%, respectively. This boost goes a long way, especially when fighting against bosses that take a while to defeat. In prolonged boss fights, it becomes a battle of attrition, where you’re trying to beat it before you run out of potions to heal yourself with. Of course, avoiding damage via dodging, parrying, or countering is ideal, but you’re bound to get hit quite a bit, especially against bosses you’re encountering for the first time. In situations like this, the medallions are especially valuable, so consider using them when fighting a tough boss.

Ultimate Ability Accessories

Plenty of accessories give a bonus effect to certain abilities in FF16, and you’ll find quite a few of them throughout the story. While some are useful for particular playstyles, accessories that give bonuses to ultimate abilities are especially helpful. Ultimate abilities, or high-cooldown abilities with powerful effects (such as Pheonix’s Flames of Rebirth), are incredibly impactful in fights, and using accessories to reduce their cooldown time allows you to get in a couple of extra uses of the abilities during a boss fight, or when dealing with waves of enemies.

On Fortune and the Heavens

On Fortune and the Heavens is an accessory that boosts the amount of EXP you receive. As EXP can be a bit difficult to farm outside of the main story, getting any form of EXP boost can go a long way. On Fortune and the Heavens gives you a whopping 15% EXP boost, and the amount of bonus EXP you receive adds up over time, so it’s something you’ll want to wear as soon as you can get it.

The Wages of Warcraft

The Wages of Warcraft is another non-combat accessory that, instead of boosting EXP, boosts the amount of Ability Points you get from “normal encounters,” or simple combat encounters. They won’t grant you bonuses from, say, main story quests, but it’s still worth using, especially if you’re just a few points away from upgrading or unlocking an ability.

Berserker Ring

The Berserker Ring is arguably one of the most powerful accessories in FF16. It temporarily boosts your attack proficiency whenever you use a precision dodge. With the ring equipped, you get a flashy animation whenever you use a precision dodge, and the next few attacks you dish out following the dodge do more damage. It’s an accessory that you’ll definitely want to have regardless of the build you’re going for.

Special Mention: Timely Accessories

The Timely Accessories are special accessories that you unlock at the beginning of the game. They alter your gameplay by making combat easier, giving you prompts for dodge windows, making combos possible with the press of a button, and so on. They can be mixed and matched to suit your preferred playstyle. Here’s a list of all of them and what they do:

  • Ring of Timely Evasion – Causes Clive to dodge attacks automatically.
  • Ring of Timely Focus – Slows down time and displays a button prompt before getting struck by an attack.
  • Ring of Timely Strikes – Allows you to execute attacks with a single button.
  • Ring of Timely Assistance – Causes Torgal to perform actions automatically.
  • Ring of Timely Healing – Uses potions automatically when low on health.

Of course, using these accessories does make the game significantly easier, as they’re effectively meant to serve as FF16’s “Easy Mode,” so keep that in mind when equipping them.

And that’s about it! There are many, many viable accessories in FF16, so this list isn’t an objective one. Remember, your accessories should complement your build, so choose those that give you the edge you need in combat.

The Elder Scrolls Online Servers Down for June 25 on Xbox; Team Is Investigating

For those wanting to continue their journey into the latest Elder Scrolls Online expansion, Necrom, you may be noticing some issues with connectivity (specifically on Xbox) as reports of The Elder Scrolls servers being down have begun flooding this June 25.

The Elder Scrolls Online Down Server Status and Updates for June 25 | ESO Servers Down June 25

Here’s what Bethesda has to say about the ESO outage:

“We are currently investigating issues some players are having logging into the @TESOnline North American #Xbox megaserver. #ESO”

For now, most reports have been coming from the Xbox side of the game, with PC and PlayStation players being able to play fine. This, of course, could change (possibly worsen) as the day goes on, but hopefully, Bethesda will be able to get the servers back up and running shortly.

Related Reading:

In some somewhat related news, Diablo 4 servers are also down today. Though it could be a coincidence, it was noted that those servers are currently experiencing a DDoS attack. Could this be a possible sign that there is a lot more going on? Who knows, but fingers crossed, both services are restored soon.

XDefiant Dev Doesn’t Want the Game to Be Seen as a “Call of Duty Killer,” Thinking of Ways “Outside the Box” to Celebrate Streaks

If you’ve been keeping tabs of XDefiant, played the beta or have read about the game online, chances are, you’ve seen or heard people mention its similarities to Call of Duty. Not only that, but some have even tagged the game as a “Call of Duty killer.

If you’re not a fan of that idea, it seems this is something the game’s Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, isn’t warm about, either.

For reference, Rubin was also the Executive Producer of the Call of Duty franchise.

While the game’s devs might not want XDefiant to be branded as a Call of Duty killer or whatnot, it seems that some kind of “streaks” (killstreak, scorestreak) rewards system will be part of the final version of XDefiant. This was confirmed by Rubin who also mentioned that they don’t want to implement a traditional streaks system like Call of Duty.

As for “thinking outside the box” thing, your guess is as good as mine as to what it can be. Perhaps more XP gained for going on streaks? Hopefully, it’s something that will benefit the player in a match though won’t be too overpowered.

Finally, Rubin has also reached out to people on Twitter to ask about the XDefiant Prestige system, and whether players would want a traditional 10 levels of Prestige, or one that refreshes every season.

Cast your vote if you want your voice to be heard about the game’s Prestige system.

While there’s no official release date for XDefiant outside of “summer,” the devs have shared the Year 1 roadmap and there seems to be a lot of stuff incoming to the game every month!

Diablo 4 Update for June 24 Drops for Hotfix 13; Fixes Hammer of the Ancients Bug & More

Following yesterday’s Diablo 4 hotfix 12, Blizzard has released the Diablo 4 update for June 24, and this is for hotfix 13! This fixes the Barbarian’s Hammer of the Ancients bug that surfaced from the previous server-side update and more.

Diablo 4 Update for June 24 Patch Notes | Diablo 4 Hotfix 13 Patch Notes:

HOTFIX 13 – JUNE 23, 2023 – 1.0.2

Gameplay Fixes

  • Addressed an issue with how monsters could infinitely spawn in Cellar Events.

Class Changes

Barbarian

  • Reverting a performance change that inadvertently reduced the damage for “Hammer of the Ancients”.

Developer Note: Earlier today, we pushed out Hotfix 12 which included stability and performance improvement changes that affected Hammer of the Ancients. These changes were strictly for backend performance, but unintentionally also affected gameplay. There were no plans to reduce the damage of Hammer of the Ancients with this change. We have reverted this change as this was not intended.

That’s about it. Don’t forget, we should be getting a client-side patch soon-ish that houses a lot more class changes and whatnot. For reference, Blizzard has said that they are working on the first “real” patch for the game, and it’s over 13 pages long.

In other Diablo 4 news, the game seems to have a hidden post-credits scene, which you might want to read about here..

Final Fantasy 16 PC Version Will Be Discussed by Devs “When Time Comes,” Wanted an Experience With No Loading Screens on PS5

Final Fantasy 16 was just released yesterday on the PS5, and while it’s currently available on one platform at the moment, the possibility of a Final Fantasy 16 PC version isn’t out of the picture, though it probably won’t come as soon as you think.

FF16 producer Naoki Yoshida revealed in a livestream that while the developers at Creative Business Unit 3 wanted to make a PC version of the game, the team prioritized the goal of having no loading screens. This prevented the devs from taking the time to optimize a PC version to this standard. Fortunately, Yoshida reassured viewers that they would discuss more about a PC version of the game in the future when the time comes. Here’s the full quote, as translated with the help of DeepL:

Of course, we would like to release a PC version, but as those of you who played the demo version this time may have understood, our goal was to create an overwhelming experience without any loading screens, so we cannot take the time to optimize the game for the PC. We will be sure to discuss the PC version when the time comes, so please look forward to it.

FFXVI was also originally planned for the PS4 before getting scrapped, and thanks to an exclusivity deal with Sony, the game launched on the PS5 alone. While it’s unlikely that we’re getting a PC version of FFXVI anytime soon, the devs seem to be keen on releasing it at some point, so we’ll have to wait for when Square Enix releases more information on it in the future.

If you haven’t picked the game up yet, go read our review to see why it’s one of the best games of the year.

Phil Spencer: Sony Considered Starfield Exclusivity Deal, Encouraging Bethesda Buyout

In today’s hearing on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’s case against Microsoft’s Activision-Blizzard acquisition, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed that Sony was looking to make upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield a PlayStation console exclusive. This incentivized Microsoft’s buyout of game publisher ZeniMax Media (which included Bethesda) in 2021, with Starfield now being an Xbox/PC title instead.

Here’s the full quote from Spencer:

When we acquired ZeniMax one of the impetus for that is that Sony had done a deal for Deathloop and Ghostwire… to pay Bethesda to not ship those games on Xbox. So the discussion about Starfield when we heard that Starfield was potentially also going to end up skipping Xbox, we can’t be in a position as a third-place console where we fall further behind on our content ownership so we’ve had to secure content to remain viable in the business.

Yesterday, it was revealed that the untitled Indiana Jones game by MachineGames was to be developed for multiple consoles before becoming an Xbox console exclusive. While Starfield’s case seems similar at a glance, Sony’s desire to make it a PlayStation exclusive meant that it wouldn’t have been released on Xbox at all. Other ZeniMax games in Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo were targeted with exclusivity deals in the past, with Ghostwire Tokyo just recently arriving on Xbox Series X|S and the Xbox Game Pass last April.

Starfield is currently slated for a September 6 release date on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Is “5+ Years Away,” Says Phil Spencer

The Elder Scrolls 6 is apparently “five-plus years away,” according to Xbox head Phil Spencer. This means that the upcoming entry in Bethesda’s fantasy RPG series won’t be out until at least 2028 in the best-case scenario.

Spencer shared the news in the recent hearing for the Federal Trade Commission vs. Microsoft case, with the FTC attempting to block the tech giant’s acquisition deal of gaming giant Activision-Blizzard.

While the statement was brief, Spencer did also mention afterward that he wasn’t sure which platforms TESVI would even be on:

Combined with the first statement on TESVI being more than five years away, it’s very likely that the game will launch alongside the next generation of video game consoles. This lines up with Microsoft expecting next-gen consoles to arrive in 2028. Given that 2028 is also five years away, there’s also the possibility that TESVI would be one of the launch titles for the next Xbox console.

To put things into perspective, The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally teased way back in 2018 with a brief teaser trailer. This potentially puts the game’s launch at least ten years after its initial announcement.

Are you willing to wait “five-plus years” for TESVI? Let us know in the comments!
