Phil Spencer: Sony Takes 30% Cut from Microsoft’s Games on PS; Uses Profits to “Reduce Xbox’s Survival”

In a statement made by Xbox head Phil Spencer during the FTC vs. Microsoft case hearing, it was revealed that Sony takes a 30 percent cut from Microsoft’s products on the PlayStation platform. Spencer also labeled Sony as an “aggressive competitor,” with profits from the revenue cut used to undermine Xbox’s survival on the market.

Here’s the full statement made by Spencer:

It seems as though Sony’s actions extend beyond simple revenue cuts, too. Spencer claims that PS5 devkits were sent late to Microsoft, which resulted in an unoptimized version of Minecraft for the PS5.

Spencer went on to reveal that the PS5 edition of Minecraft is simply the PS4 version of the game. When the FTC stated that Microsoft had retaliated by not providing an optimized version for the PS5 throughout its three-year lifespan, Spencer also mentioned that there isn’t an optimized version for the Xbox Series X|S, either.

Splatoon 3 Fan Spends $3500 to Join Nintendo Shareholder Meeting to Complain About Splatoon 3 Customization

According to Twitter user NStyles, who attended the Nintendo shareholder meeting, a Splatoon 3 fan disrupted the shareholder Q&A session to rant about the disparity between male and female characters customization options.

The fan was “loud” and unhappy about the difference between the number of customization options available for male and female characters. Twitter user Haruikatako claimed to be that person and revealed that he purchased $3,500+ (¥512,000) worth of Nintendo shares just to attend the meeting and voice his complaint as Nintendo has been “ignoring his letters” about the severe lack of male emotes, poses, and more.

Since Nintendo ignored his letters, the fan hoped to try a more “direct” approach by buying Nintendo shares to attend the shareholders meeting and state his rant over there. Obviously, it was costly, but it did not stop him as he sold his console to raise money.

Here’s the full statement and Tweet by Twitter user Haruikatako (translated from Japanese):

At the Nintendo shareholders’ meeting, I complained about the current cold treatment of Splatoon boys (commanders, high-color city emotes, etc.)!

Halfway through, I was told, “There are other people I want to ask…”, so the second half took a lot longer than planned, but I managed to tell them!

I’ve sent letters to Nintendo many times, but they didn’t seem to improve.

When I bought stocks, I was always short of tens of thousands of dollars, and my parents asked me not to get involved in consumer finance.

As soon as I bought 40,000 organic EL type Switch with a credit card, I immediately sold it to GEO for 25,000 to raise money.

I have been told many things, I’ve been really hurt by Boy’s cold shoulders and I’ve seen other people feel the same way.

That’s why I did it with the regret of doing it rather than the regret of not doing it.

Also, the 551 meat bun I bought at Kyoto Station on the way home was delicious.

During the rant, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa intervened and said that the question was too lengthy, asking the fan to get to the point. However, the fan ignored him and continued with his rant. After the fan concluded, Furukawa responded, “Thank you for your interest in playing our game. We appreciate your opinion.”

Say whatever you want, but that sure is one determined fan. We can only hope that Nintendo will now work to diminish the customization options disparity between male and female characters in Splatoon 3.

AEW: Fight Forever Casino Battle Royale Debuted With Trailer Featuring MJF

THQ Nordic has debuted the AEW: Fight Forever Casino Battle Royale mode. The announcement came along with an AEW: Fight Forever Casino Battle Royale trailer featuring new gameplay and MJF explaining how the Casino Battle Royale mode works.

The only Casino that will NOT take your money. It will, however, take your sweat, blood, tears and dignity if you leave the ring prematurely. Be the last person standing and bask in the glory of the crowd.

For the uninitiated, Casino Battle Royal is a modified “rumble rules battle royale” including 21 wrestlers. In AEW: Fight Forever’s Casino Battle Royale mode, “Casino” refers to the special “deck of cards” entry system used in this match. Wrestlers are divided into suits: hearts, diamonds, spades, and clubs, with each group consisting of a specific number of participants. When a wrestler’s card is called, they enter the ring and their objective is to eliminate their opponents by throwing them over the top rope. Once a wrestler is eliminated, they are out of the match, and the battle continues until only one wrestler remains.

Fight your way to the top of the Battle Royale when AEW: Fight Forever punches out on June 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Horizon Forbidden West Lance Reddick Memorial Spotted in Burning Shores DLC, Here’s Where to Find It

Legendary actor, Lance Reddick sadly passed away in his home at the age of 60 in March. Reddick played multiple roles in the video game world, in games including Quantum Break, Destiny, and the Horizon series. Developer Guerrilla Games has honored the actor’s memory in Horizon Forbidden West. There’s a Horizon Forbidden West Lance Reddick memorial in the game that has been added as part of the Burning Shores DLC.

Reddick, who plays Sylens, was in both Horizon games. Guerilla confirmed the addition of the memorial site in a statement:

In honor of Lance Reddick, we created a memorial to commemorate the profound impact he had on us all.

Thank you, Lance, for everything you brought to the role of Sylens: your gravitas, energy, wisdom and more. An incomparable talent and friend. We miss you terribly.

If you have the Horizon Burning Shores DLC, here’s the exact location where you can find the memorial site for Reddick (via horizon-gamer):

Destiny 2 players also paid tribute to Reddick by paying the Titan Vanguard, Zavala (voiced by Reddick) a visit in game and sitting around him. Bungie said, “for now, we will honor his presence through his performances yet to come in the game, and in the memories that will last us a lifetime.”

Rest in power, Lance Reddick.

Report: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 Games Leaked

While it has been teased by Konami before that we will be seeing Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2, we now possibly know what this second volume will contain.

User Nitroid took to Twitter to reveal his findings that by inspecting the Metal Gear Solid timeline page on the official website, it reveals placeholder buttons for Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5, suggesting that they will be a part of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2.

Find the full tweet below:

This also lines up with the content of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 which contains MGS 1, 2, 3, so having MGS 4, Peace Walker, and MGS5 for Vol. 2 makes sense.

However, like always, we caution our readers to not believe rumors, no matter how convincing they seem, until an official announcement is made.

While Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 might be a little off, Vol. 1 launches later this year on October 24, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Armored Core 6 ESRB Rating and Summary Surfaces, Mentions Fictional Drug “Coral”

Way ahead of its release date, Armored Core 6 ESRB rating and summary are out. The ESRB has graded Armored Core 6 a “T for Teen” rating with the presence of “Drug Reference, Language, Violence” in the title.

Drug Reference refers to the fictional drug, the “Coral” present in the game, while the notable mentions of the mild language include words like “shit.” Of course, the Armored Core franchise is packed with fast-paced realistic gunfire and explosions, which explains the violence present in the ESRB rating. Find the full ESRB rating summary below:

This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a mercenary carrying out military-style missions. Players pilot mechanized battle suits (i.e., mechs), using machine guns, rocket launchers, missiles, and melee-style attacks to destroy enemies (e.g., other mechs, tanks, helicopters). Battles are often fast-paced, accompanied by realistic gunfire and large explosions—damaged battle suits often burst into fiery wreckage/scattered debris. The game contains references to a fictional drug in the dialogue/text (e.g., “The Dosers are locked in a power struggle over the Coral drug trade”; “No one’s getting high off that”; “You gotta take Rubicon’s blessings raw…Hits your brain with a pop and a sizzle.”). The word “sh*t” appears in the game.

Armored Core games have historically been graded a “T for Teen” by the ESRB, so this rating does not come off as a surprise. Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon launches August 25, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.

Starship Troopers Extermination Update 0.3.0 for June 22 Brings New Map and More

Developer Offworld Industries has released Starship Troopers Extermination update 0.3.0 this June 22, and this adds a new mode, a load of gameplay adjustments and more. Everything new is detailed in the official patch notes below.

Starship Troopers Extermination Update 0.3.0 for June 22 Patch Notes:

Features

  • The Fuel Depot in southern Valaka is a new industrial map location to build bases at and defend. Both the AAS and ARC modes may include this map location. Situated at the edge of a cliff and overlooking a valley along its north face, the Fuel Depot presents a logistical challenge. Players will need to make sure they don’t get backed into a corner when the Bugs arrive.
  • New Base Construction: Twin Machine Gun Emplacement
    • A manned heavy machine gun base construction that can be mounted in bases or on other base constructions. Players will need to work together to keep it operational as it takes damage while being fired.
      • Developer Note: We’re eager for feedback on how this new weapon feels, specifically its health and repair mechanic.
  • New Gameplay: Mutators
    • Presenting a variety of buffs, debuffs, and global conditions, Mutators dramatically change the battlefield. Each AAS or ARC match above Recruit (Easy) difficulty will have up to three Mutators applied to it. These Mutator sets deliver a unique challenge and counter combo while others offer alternate stories and atmosphere – some may even provide a relief from the ruthless intensity of Valaka!
    • There are two types of Mutators. Certain Mutators affect XP gain depending on how much challenge they add.
      • Arachnid Mutators provide the Arachnids with an increase in one stat and most add a decrease in another or alter the frequency and composition of Arachnid encounters and events.
        • Arachnid Rush: Increased Arachnid movement speed, decreased Arachnid health.
        • Arachnid Resilience: Increased Arachnid health, decreased Arachnid movement speed.
        • Arachnid Fury: Increased Arachnid attack speed.
        • Elite Arachnids: Increased Arachnid damage, decreased Arachnid movement speed.
        • Arachnid Packs: Proximity-triggered Arachnid groups.
        • We Got Bugs!: An Arachnid infestation spawns at the start of the match.
        • Bugs Inbound!: An Arachnid infestation spawns in the middle of the match.
        • Ambushes: Sudden spawns of Arachnid groups near Troopers.
        • Increased Patrols: More Arachnid packs spawn.
        • Patrol Disruption: Fewer Arachnid packs spawn.
        • Double Threat!: All infestation level increases are doubled.
        • Threat Level Maximum!: Match starts at infestation level 5.
        • Threat Level Caution!: Match starts at infestation level 3.
      • Scenario Mutators affect the story of the match by altering Troopers, the environment, and the flow of missions.
        • Sandstorms: Mobile weather events that severely reduce visibility.
        • Low Gravity: Trooper jumps are higher and falling is slower.
        • Integrated Health Stims: Troopers regenerate some health every 2 seconds.
        • Reviving Disabled: Troopers are unable to revive (medical supply shortage).
        • Martyr: Troopers explode on being downed and can respawn immediately.
        • Scan Blade: Melee attacking an Arachnid scans it (scan grenade effect).
        • CM-48 Nightstar Field Test: Trooper knives replaced with tactical maces that sweep and stun Arachnids in an arc.
        • Explosive Mace: Trooper knives replaced with maces that explode Arachnids on attack.
        • Build Tool Malfunction: Reduces build tool speed.
        • Integrated Utility Fabricators: Slowly replenishes utilities.
  • New Servers: APAC Region
    • Military Intelligence has heard the requests to improve the connection to Valaka for our Troopers stationed around the globe. We are pleased to share that new servers have been added for Asia East, Asia Southeast, and Australia Southeast and will be online when this update goes live!

Black Ops Cold War Update 1.037 Rolled Out for Security Fixes This June 22

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update 1.037 has been released by Treyarch this June 22 on both last-gen and current-platforms, and this is to beef up the game’s security more than anything else. Read on for what’s new in the official patch notes for the new Black Ops Cold War update.

Black Ops Cold War Update 1.037 Patch Notes for June 22:

Size: 6GB (Battle.net)

While there are no actual patch notes for today’s title update, Treyarch has announced that this patch is to help mitigate the IP exploit that surfaced for the game recently.

We are not expecting any front-facing changes in today’s patch. It could also be connected to today’s announcement by Activision on how the first Warzone will be closing its servers come Sept. 21, as some of Blac Ops Cold War’s cosmetics can be used in that game.

We are on the lookout and if anything else gets announced for today’s patch, we’ll update the article to reflect it.
