Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Update 1.006 Patch Notes:

■Additional Features
  • Added the new feature “Inner Discipline,” which allows players to set their own maximum Morale Rank.
    • This is accessible via Battle Preparation and then Inner Discipline in the Battle Flag menu.
    • Inner Discipline will prevent Morale Rank from rising above the set limit when obtaining Morale Points by defeating enemies or performing Fatal Strikes.
    • This feature will be disabled while participating in Recruit and Invade sessions.
    • The Elixir and Burial Flag buffs that increase Morale Rank will still be applied above the maximum limit.
  • Made changes to the Reinforcements menu so that a handshake icon will now be displayed next to the companions who have accompanied the player at least once.
    • We have received inquiries from players who have been unable to obtain the achievement/trophy “Great Gatherings.” If you have confirmed the status of your companions after applying the update and are still unable to obtain the trophy despite fulfilling all of the requirements, then please contact customer support. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. (https://www.koeitecmoamerica.com/support/ )

  • Added Set Bonus and Inner Discipline to Tutorial under Documents.
■Adjustments

    • Changed the Morale Rank increase from 1 to 3.
    • Changed the duration of the effects from 30 seconds to 60.
  • Enlarged the Affinity hitbox of the flame area generated by the demonized Xiahou Dun’s tail so that it will be easier to neutralize the flames by taking advantage of Five Phase Affinities.

Gzemnid’s Reliquary

  • A small delay has been added to the Artifacts spawning during the final phases of Gzmenid along with a better indicator of when they appear.
  • Gzemnid no longer drops an unbound weapon that does not prompt for Need/Greed/Pass when defeated in Gzemnid’s Reliquary (Master).

Menzoberranzan

  • The Driders that appear in the Heroic Encounter, ‘Incursion’ can no longer be pushed out of the gameplay area.
  • Drow NPCs healing in the Incursion Heroic Encounter has been fixed.
  • Ceremorphosis Heroic Encounter warping players has been fixed and the magic dome around the Neothelid will now appear each time it begins.
  • The Drider House Captains in Menzoberranzan have received a balance pass including:

    • Minor damage reduction overall.
    • Minor health reduction.
    • Bug fix where line of sight would prevent Magical Barrage from hitting.
    • AI adjustments to power selection.
    • Dev Note: While we were happy to see that these powerful enemies were a real threat requiring large groups and some coordination, we want to make sure everyone feels they can participate in the fight. We hope these changes keep the House Captains dangerous, but give more opportunity for counterplay to the mechanics. We will continue to monitor the balance and look forward to feedback on how the captains feel after these changes. Thank you all for playing!

Future Events

    • Daily Missions from the Anniversary now grant 5 Protector’s Bounties.
    • Repeatable Missions from the Anniversary now grant 3 Protector’s Bounties.

Combat and Powers

General

  • The Bregan D’aerthe Expert’s Coif now grants the correct amount of Performance to Bard Minstrels.

Companions

A number of additional companions have been revised with bug fixes and balance updates. These companions should perform more consistently with the companions updated on Menzoberranzan’s initial release.

Healer companions noted below have had (all) their healing powers substantially improved. We will continue to iterate on healer balance, but these updates should shift these companions in a much a better direction.

  • Adbar Shield Maiden and Man at Arms

    • Lich stays in range of his Drain Life power more consistently.
    • Paralyzing Blast is more likely to hit multiple targets.
    • Rebalanced as a Hybrid companion.
  • Phoera / Mystic Phoera
    • The Phoeras had bugs that were making their Single Target power (Fiery Talon) stronger than expected, while its Passive (Phoenix Heat) was much weaker than expected. We’ve fixed those bugs, and as a result, the Phoeras will deal less damage to a single target, but more damage to multiple targets.
    • Phoenix Heat now deals a meaningful amount of damage, is only applied once every 3 seconds, and only applies in combat. In general, skills that deal damage should only activate when the companion is in combat.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Delayed to Feb. 2, 2024

While earlier reports that surfaced last month mentioned that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be delayed from its May release to sometime “later in 2023,” it seems those reports were incorrect, as Rocksteady has today announced that the game’s release has been pushed back all the way to Feb. 2, 2024!

The announcement was made over on Twitter where the following message was relayed to gamers:

https://twitter.com/suicidesquadRS/status/1646593761022038017

As you can see, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is being pushed back in order for the studio to make it the “best quality experience for players.” Given the lukewarm reception from gamers after the game’s gameplay reveal back in February, I wouldn’t be surprised if the game got a major overhaul in some way.

Hopefully, we’ll get continuous development updates regarding the game, so we’ll know if it’s shaping up to be a solid multiplayer game.

Don’t forget, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s new release date is now Feb. 2, 2024.

Activision Now Selling New Warzone 2 DMZ Bundles That Are Literally Pay-to-Win Items

With the introduction of Season 3 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, it’s a given that Activision would have new items for sale in the in-game store. However, what’s new here is that for the first time, Activision is now selling items in-game (a new Warzone 2 DMZ bundle) that will directly affect gameplay for those who buy it.

This new Warzone 2 DMZ bundle that offers a fourth Active Duty Operator slot as well as a Fender skin with a free Medium bagpack and a Sakin MG38 blueprint with a reduced Insured Cooldown has similarly earned ire from fans and has been labeled as “pay to win” by furious players.

The DMZ mode in Warzone 2 has been reworked in Season 3, introducing Active Duty Operator slots for players to bring in three different Operators and setups to a match. A fourth slot is also available, but has been locked behind the “Bomb Squad” DMZ bundle. The Bomb Squad bundle costs 1200 Call of Duty Points and grants access to the fourth slot, as well as the “EOD Specialist” Fender skin, the “Boom Proof” blueprint for the Sakin MG38 LMG, the “Concussive Conclusion” Weapon Sticker, and the “Which Wire!?” emblem.

Where players take issue is the fact that a fourth Operator slot being locked behind a paywall inherently makes the DMZ battlefield uneven, granting those who buy the bundle an unfair strategic advantage. Additionally, the EOD Specialist Fender skin includes a free Medium backpack for additional storage and the Boom Proof Sakin MG38 blueprint has a reduced Insured Weapon cooldown of only 15 minutes, meaning players with the bundle can exfiltrate with an increased number of items and can quickly reuse the insured weapon should they fail to exfiltrate with it.

Understandably so, the bundle has not been received well by fans and even content creators:

Having locked gameplay content behind a paywall, Activision has been accused of “pay to win” behavior:

So far, Activision and Infinity Ward have not addressed the issue, and have not revealed any alternate, free ways to obtain the fourth Operator slot or the unique benefits of the bundle. Outside of the new pay-to-win bundles for sale, Activision has also now started selling a “premium” Battle Pass in Season 3 alongside the traditional one.

Do you think the inclusion of the bundle is justified, or should it be removed? Let us know in the comments below.

XDefiant Launch Content Includes 14 Maps, 24 Weapons, 5 Factions, and More

XDefiant is shaping up to be quite a content-packed free-top-play experience, with 14 maps available at launch and so much more. MP1st was invited by Ubisoft to take part in a private media event for the upcoming shooter, and as part of it, we learned what the full slate of XDefiant launch content will look like.

XDefiant Launch Content:

Factions

XDefiant Faction List

  • Cleaners – Pyro Technicians  (The Division)
  • Echelon – Super Spies (Splintercell)
  • Libertad – Freedom Fighters (Far Cry 6)
  • Phantoms – Future Soldiers (Ghost Recon Phantoms)
  • Dedsec – Cyber Attackers (Watch Dogs)

Maps

XDefiant Map List

In total, there are 14 maps planned for launch, with 10 of those being arena-based and 4 of them linear.

  • Arena
  • Attica Heights
  • Dumbo
  • Echelon HQ
  • Emporium
  • Liberty
  • Mayday
  • Meltdown
  • Midway
  • Nudleplex
  • Pueblito
  • Showtime
  • Times Square
  • Zoo

Game Modes

Arena Modes

  • Domination – Take and hold the three Capture Zones to earn more points than the opposing team.
  • Occupy – Take and control a single Capture Zone that changes location during the match.
  • Hot Shot – Collect Bounties from fallen enemies. The player with the most becomes the Hot Shot — better, faster, more deadly.

Linear Modes

  • Escort – Escort a payload to a delivery point as attackers, or prevent the opponents from doing so as defenders.
  • Zone Control – Attack or defend the Capture Zone.

Ranked Play and a Practice mode are also confirmed.

Weapons and Attachments

XDefiant Weapon List

In total, there will be 24 weapons with 44 attachments (per weapon) available at launch. Below you’ll find all the available weapons.

Assault Weapons

  • M4A1 – This full-auto M16 variant is a solid all-rounder with minimal recoil, so it’s easy to put multiple shots on target.
  • AK-47 – The AK-47 is a challenging weapon to use and combines best-in-class damage with a low rate of fire and relatively poor handling. At longer ranges, only skilled hands and burst fire can tame its recoil.
  • M16A4 – A burst-fire assault rifle that’s easy to wield but tricky to master, the M16A4 excels at long-range engagement —  although skilled shooters can aim its bursts to great effect for up-close skills.
  • ACR 6.8 – The ACR 6.8 is a great pick for those who like to engage at longer ranges and offers a good mix of damage and handling. Watch out for horizontal recoil.

SMG

  • MP5A2 – All SMGs excel at close-range battles, but if you want something more flexible, the MP5A2 is best-in-class for medium-range effectiveness.
  • Vector .45 ACP – A high-risk, high-reward pick with an insane rate of fire and damage potential. Handling is tough, so you’ll need to get up close. Keep an eye on your ammo count because it goes fast.
  • P90 – A well-rounded SMG. The P90 hits harder than the MP7, is easier to control than the Vector, and has the largest default magazine capacity.
  • MP7 – The quick-handling, high-rate-of-fire MP7 is ideal for flankers who want to get in close and unload a hail of bullets.

Shotguns

  • M870 – Extreme stopping power, good mobility, and the low rate of fire you expect from a pump-action shotgun. Get up close and don’t miss.
  • Double Barrel – Packs a punch even at long range, but that reward comes with risks. It holds just two shells, and it’s easy to fire them quickly in the heat of the moment. Make ’em count; reloading is not a fast process.
  • AA-12 – The full-auto AA-12 shotgun may be a handful, but nothing clears a room faster. Hopefully the threats are gone when it’s time to reload

LMG

  • M249 – This versatile light machine gun can accept both belt-fed and box magazines, offering the choice between large ammo capacity or improved mobility and reload times.
  • RPK-74 – Like the M60, the RPK-74 hits hard. It’s your pick if you want to deliver fully auto damage at long range without sacrificing much move speed or reload time. Recoil can be a handful.
  • M60 – This hard-hitting LMG can mow down groups of enemies with its 100-round magazine, but the tradeoff is slow movement speed and reloads that last an eternity.

Marksman

  • MK 20 SSR – This semi-auto cousin of the ACR rewards accurate players with good mobility and headshot potential. Straddles the gap between assault rifle handling and sniper rifle lethality.
  • SVD – Think of the SVD as a lightweight sniper rifle. It’s more mobile, has a higher rate of fire, and it’s easier to put multiple shots on a target, but then it also takes more hits to kill.

Sniper

  • M44 – The bolt-action M44 has been around forever thanks to good range and handling. But modern snipers like the TAC 50 do more damage per shot.
  • TAC-50 – This hard-hitting sniper rifle is one-and-done if you land a body shot. It’s also heavy, with slow aim-down-sights time, low mobility, and major recoil.

Not a bad launch of content if we say so ourselves, and a bulk of this will be available in the closed beta starting today. The number of maps is an impressive amount for a free-to-play experience, and seeing that the game is planning to have seasons, that number, as well as factions and guns, will continue to grow post-launch.

Stay tuned to our interview with the dev team regarding the game hitting the site soon.

XDefiant has no release date set just yet, but will be playable on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Wolcen Lords of Mayhem Update 1.05 Patch Notes | Wolcen Lords of Mayhem Update 1.1.7.12 Patch Notes | Wolcen April 13 Patch Notes:

PlayStation:

Wolcen patch 01.05 is now live on PlayStation. This patch contains multiple bug fixes, general improvements, several fixes for client and server crashes, as well as some online improvements.

We advise players not to complete the “Ward the Palace” project in the Regent Assembly as it can cause a disconnection or crash during phase 3 of the Ahriman fight. We are actively working on a fix.

As always, thank you for your invaluable feedback thus far and you can expect fixes for further outstanding issues in the near future.

Improvements:

  • Infinity Tier – A cap has been introduced to the player power rewards that can come from Infinity difficulty tier. The maximum number of Attribute points that can be earned is now 500, and maximum number of Gate of Fates points is 20.
  • Summons should now typically have a lower targeting priority over merchants, portals, loot, and other objects when playing with a controller.
  • Improved the targeting behaviour of Gunslinger’s Brand on controller.
  • The “Auto” and “Lowest Latency” server selection dropdown options will once again choose more appropriate local servers.
  • Improved the level of consistency between the “arena” area environments for Ahriman’s Lieutenants Operations.
  • Improved the visibility of selected ground loot text.
  • Improved the client and server-side memory management of Dungeon tiles, which should reduce both their loading times and their load on the servers.
  • Optimised logging on the server, which should improve performance slightly.
  • Added general performance improvements to the Friends List.

Bug Fixes:

  • Players who could no longer access their characters after investing a large number of points into their Gate of Fates should once again be able to load their affected characters. Note that their Attribute and Gate of Fates points will require redistribution.
  • Resolved a UI softlock when accepting rewards from a completed Restock: Havar project in Champion of Stormfall mode.
  • Fixed an issue where quest markers would not appear after returning from the first portal area in the “Final Struggle” segment of the Ahriman encounter.
  • Resolved an issue where SFX would play on a loop after killing an enemy with a particular boss modifier.
  • Resolved an issue where Ahriman would drop too much loot (or none at all) depending on the game mode.
  • Fixed an issue where bosses on the 2nd level of Expedition Operations would become incredibly shy and fail to spawn.
  • Fixed an issue where Heimlock and Valaria would have doppelgangers present at the end of the Ahriman fight.
  • Fixed an issue where the player character would briefly appear in T-pose before the Wrath of Sarisel score screen.
  • Fixed a particular voice line of Valaria’s where she would mistakenly misgender the Ascended if they are female.
  • Fixed an instance of missing lip-sync for Ilthain.
  • Fixed a VFX issue with Iosonic Rain where the two pistols could become offset depending on the player’s weapon types.
  • Fixed offset VFX for the unique item “Canalised Staff”.
  • Improved looting behaviour on Gamepad when trying to pick out a particular item from large stacks of dropped items.
  • Fixed the “stretching” effect on certain elements in the War Table UI.
  • Fixed an SFX issue associated with Skeleton Cultists.
  • Fixed miscellaneous instances of placeholder text and missing localisation. More localisation fixes are on the way.
  • Resolved an issue where particle effects and audio would no longer trigger in Chapter I after some time had elapsed. We are investigating similar issues in the other Chapters.
  • Resolved an issue where the Flame Wave attack of Ahriman’s Spectres during phase 2 would disappear prematurely.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the War Table’s difficulty shield emblems to have stretched backgrounds.
  • Rectified instances where the central portal would be missing from Ahriman Lieutenant arenas.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented Skeleton Cultists from using their full range of abilities.
  • Resolved an issue where VFX from the Ahriman fight would remain in place and still be visible during subsequent Operations.
  • Fixed various visual issues on certain armour pieces on the female player model.
  • Tidied up various elements of several cutscenes.
  • Tidied up Ilthain’s quest marker in The Only Lead.
  • Fixed multiple crash instances happening in random locations.
  • Fixed several issues which caused some elements of the Ahriman fight to be missing.
  • Resolved two issues which would cause client and server crashes with particular interactions between the Flamethrower variant of the Punisher Exoskeleton enemy and the player.
  • Resolved an issue which would cause a client crash when using a particular combination of Skill Modifiers for the skill “Gunslinger’s Brand”.
  • Resolved an issue which would cause a client and server crash with a particular interaction between a Cult of Souls Soul Casket and the player.
  • Resolved an issue which would cause a client crash with a particular interaction between a Cult of Souls Risen Executioner and the player.

Xbox and PC:

Greetings, Ascended!

Patch 1.1.7.4 is now available on PC and patch 1.1.7.12 is now available for XBOX! This patch brings improvements to Infinity Difficulty and the campaign save system, along with fixes for bugs and crashes both big and small.

Improvements:

  • Infinity Difficulty. Players can now more easily spend large quantities of skulls. Mouse & Keyboard behaves in the same manner as when adding Attribute Points: use Shift+click to add 5 skulls, or use Ctrl+Click to add 50 skulls. Or, if using a controller, simply press and hold the designated input.
  • We are aware that the Campaign save system can be obtuse, particularly in the early stages of Chapter I where there can be long gaps between save points. To rectify this, we have added two new save points to the early game: one just before you meet Ilthain for the first time, and one part-way through the Svriir Caves after finding the “Tributes Chamber” waypoint. We will examine other similar areas of the campaign and adjust accordingly in the future.
  • Improved the server-side pipeline for animation loading. This should improve responsiveness during gameplay.Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where players in the final phase of the Ahriman fight would encounter a crash or disconnection if the player had completed the “Ward the Palace” project prior to facing him.
  • Fixed a peculiar issue where the side-boss Golmuth, Flayer Philosopher, would bend the rules of time and space and trigger Chapter II’s intro cinematic if he was defeated by the player.
  • Fixed an issue during Ahriman phase 3 where Ahriman would get a bit tired and incorrectly stay in place when below 50% health.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented Summons from attacking Lambach Tentacles or Haunt Stones.
  • Tweaked the VFX display of “Avenger” Autoturret’s “Consensus” ASM buff for better visibility.
  • Fixed an issue where the UI panel announcing Ahriman’s arrival could be clicked through.
  • Fixed an issue where the Lightning and Sacred variants of the Imbued Legacy of the Willbreaker Unique Shield were appearing as “Unknown Items”.
  • Fixed an instance in multiplayer where party members could trigger NPC dialog for the game host.
  • Fixed a multiplayer issue where re-joining a game in progress could cause a disconnection for the host and a black screen for the joinee.
  • Fixed an issue in the campaign in Chapter II where interaction prompts would fail to appear above Valeria or the dying shaman.
  • Fixed an issue in the campaign in Chapter I where the Primordial Guardian would not follow its stage directions and would stubbornly refuse to appear destroyed and remain interactable, despite dying.
  • Fixed various niche instances of client and server crashes.
  • Updated various instances of missing localisation text.
    XBOX only:
  • Implemented various navmesh improvements to prevent players encountering “invisible walls” in dungeons.
  • Fixed various niche instances of XBOX client and server crashes.

Immortals of Aveum Preview – Gameplay Mechanics, World Info and More

What do you get when you cross the stylish, reality-bending, physics-defying visuals of a Doctor Strange movie and mix it with the fast-paced, endless shooting combat of DOOM, while also offering the world-building of an Elder Scrolls game? Well, you get Immortals of Aveum —  Ascendant Studio’s debut title that was announced back at The Game Awards last year.

While the reveal trailer only teased the gameplay with a very short snippet, we were fortunate enough to have been invited by EA to get a deep dive into not only its gameplay but what seems to be a sneak peek at a much larger universe. Here’s all we learned about Immortals of Aveum in our first hands-off preview.

What We Learned About Immortals of Aveum From Our Closed Presentation

The History of Ascendant Studio Leading up to Immortals of Aveum’s Reveal

  • Immortals of Aveum has been in development for over five years.
  • Developed on the most up-to-date version of Unreal Engine 5 (UE5.1,) taking full advantage of nanite and lumen technology
  • Its vision, however, has been one brewing in the mind of Ascendant Studio’s CEO, Bret Robbins (Creative Director on the original Dead Space, Call of Duty Advance Warfare and MW3, and other high-profile projects), for the last three decades.
  • The idea came to Bret when he was going over some work for Call of Duty and got inspired to replace aspects of it. Like a helicopter with a dragon, soldiers with battle mages, and military weapons with magic-based weapons. It was at that moment that a vision had begun to form, with him and the team asking themselves where that game was. It was a game Bret wanted to make, an idea that has stuck with him throughout the decades.
  • In 2018, Bret got together with his friend and studio investor, Brian Sheth, to found Ascendant Studios to help bring Bret’s vision to life.
  • In the same year, Telltale Games announced their shutdown, leaving a vast void in San Fransisco North Bay development community. Bret had only just started prototyping his game but saw the shuttering of Telltale Games as an opportunity to bring in some incredible talent. Dave Bogan (Art Director) and Julia Lightblau (Associate Art Director/ Lead Level Artist) were some of the members of Telltale Games that were brought into Ascendant Studio.
  • In the short months, the team grew from 1 to 25 and then eventually to 50, with members coming from studios such as 2K Games, Sledgehammers, Hanger 13, and Cloud Chamber.
  • A few years later, the Covid-19 pandemic happened, hitting the studio hard as they transitioned from office to working from home.
  • Despite the challenges, the studio continued to iterate and experiment with ideas every day.
  • Covid-19, however, did introduce a big opportunity, as it allowed the studio to extend its team all over the country, growing from 50 to over +100 triple A veterans in less than a year.
  • Soon the pillars of what defined Ascendant Studio started to form – Well-rested developers with an emphasis on work-life balance. A talented and ecologist collaborative design style. A place where purpose is paramount and where the process of making art answers the higher call of leaving the world a better place.
  • Major publishers began taking notice of the studio, and amongst those were the execs at EA Originals.
  • Lewis Harvey, the executive producer of EA Originals, played an updated demo that the team built. He was blown away and immediately ran it up the chain at EA. Lewis sounded like he had full and complete trust in what the team was building and believed that people were going to love to play and explore.
  • Fast forward to December 2022, the team finally reveals to the world during the Game Awards Show, Immortals of Aveum.

General Game and World Information

  • You play Jak, who is a Magnus, which is the studio’s term for Battlemage. Raised on the streets of Seren, Jak is what is known as an unforeseen, a person who doesn’t develop magic powers until later in life. His powers came to him after experiencing a great trauma that caused him manifest an enormous amount of magical powers.
  • Jak is unique as he can wield all three known colors (red, green, and blue) of magics in Aveum.
  • Jak is recruited by the Immortals, which are described as the special forces of the world consisting of the best of the best battlemages.
  • Aveum is the name of the world.
    • One of its features is known as the leylines, which are huge conduits of magical power running throughout the land.
    •  At the center is a giant, bottomless creator known as the “Wound” that grows every day.
    • In the center of the Wound is a mile high statue known as the Pentasod, which is revered almost as a god.
  • Aveum has been ravaged for over a thousand years by the Everwar, a war fought between the kingdoms (Rasharn and Lucium) for control over magic.
  • Jak becomes a key figure in the war.
  • Immortals of Aveum development has three core pillars.
    • Be the Battlemage – Everything about Immortals of Aveum had to be about the fantasy of being an awesome, powerful, gunslinging wizard.
    • Master Your Magic & Unleash Your Arsenal of Spells – The studio wanted fast and fluid first-person combat that used spells instead of guns that had a deep combing system and deep progression.
    • Save a World on the Edge of Abyss – Want to tell an epic cinematic story with compelling characters and a story with amazing moments that people will be talking about for a long time.

Meet The Cast

General Kirkan – She is the grand Magnus of the Immortals and voiced by Gina Torres. From what we saw, she doesn’t appear to be some one-off character either, as she was prominently featured throughout the presentation and had plenty of screentime interaction with the main character.

Devyn – Described as the youngest green master in Lucium’s history. Played by Antonio Aakeel.

Zendara – Kaithus’ red master, hidden royalty. Played by Lily Cowles.

Jak – The main character you play who’s been described as “cocky.” He’s a triarch, meaning he has control of all three magic colors. They’re voiced by Darren Barnet.

Sandrakk – Your nemesis and leader of the Rasharn Kingdom. Like Jak, they, too, are a triarch capable of controlling all magic colors. Steven Brand will voice the character.

The Hand – Sandrakk’s lieutenant, played by Yvonne Senat Jones,

Gameplay and Features Details

  • Cinematic to gameplay transitions are seamless.
  • As a triarch, Jak can use all three colors of magic.
    • Blue Magic – Straight, accurate long-range shot.
    • Red Magic – Compared to a shotgun with high amounts of damage.
    • Green Magic – Automic fire with projectiles that can hone in on targets.
  • Jak powers are focused through his Sigils and argument on his hand. Players will be able to find new sigils, upgrade, and customize them for different playstyles.
  • Rings, bracers, and totems can also be found and equipped, enhancing certain powers.
  • Jak can cast a shield anytime. He can shoot through it, and the only penalty is that it slows movement down when in use.
  • Using green magic, Jak also has a Blink spell that causes him to blink out of enemies’ attacks.
  • There are spells known as control spells. The one shown off to us was essentially a whip that pulled enemies closer to Jak.
  • Jak has more powerful spells known as Fury. One called the Shatter spell, which launched explosive spikes. These stronger spells will drain the mana bar, which can be replenished with mana crystals.
  • Some enemies will have defensive measures and weaknesses that are exploitable by matching the corresponding magic type. A blue shield can be destroyed with blue magic.
  • We were shown the gear menu, which had 9 equipable slots. It appeared that each gear had a level and certain stats and perks.
  • Individual gear does change the player’s appearance.
  • Blue, red, and green magic each have their own talent trees, where you can purchase new talents.
  • Bret said in addition to gear and talents, there is a huge amount of ways players will be able to customize their playstyle.
  • The user interface during combat looked very clean. No large amount of clutter.
  • We were then shown different sections of combat, one including the dragon shown in the gameplay trailer and others sections showing some of the normal combat we can expect. It seems that all magic colors can be combo’d into each other and even used simultaneously, giving the impression that the combat will have lots of variety to it.
  • Bret revealed that Immortals of Aveum will have loads of exploration and puzzle-solving, with Jak unlocking new abilities as he progresses. Lots of optional passes to take and hidden content to find.
  • You’ll be able to return to previously explored areas to use newly unlocked abilities to unlock more areas.
  • Another new spell was shown off called “Limpets” which allows you to slow things down, such as enemies and puzzles.
  • Immortals of Aveum doesn’t appear to be open-world, but we were shown a variety of different locations that were all unique.

First Impressions (Hands-Off):

MP1sts was invited to attend a closed door presentation where we were able to see our first glimpse of Immortals of Aveum gameplay. While EA has released the official gameplay trailer today, the presentation had a bit more gameplay footage to chew on, as Ascendant also explained how the game’s magic system works, what each color stood for and so on.

Starting things off, how magic is portrayed in Immortals of Aveum is vastly different from say, Harry Potter (and in connection, Hogwarts Legacy). There are no stick-like wands here, but instead, each character wears an augment and uses sigil’s. Right off the bat, you can see that Immortals’ world is dark and has a serious tone.

It’s hard not to think of the Marvel’s Doctor Strange when you see the magic in action, as you can see familiar finger and hand movements in casting spells, as well as how they’re displayed on-screen. It’s a special effect bombardment that just — for lack of a better term — looks cool.

Based on the gameplay we’ve seen, Immortals of Aveum’s actual combat seems to be similar to how first-person shooters work, though you’re firing magic instead of bullets. It’s not as cut and dry as that, but if you’re curious how the combat would play it, that’s a simple explanation of it. However, Ascendant Studios kicks it up a few notches and you can see hints of id Software’s DOOM in it as well. I don’t know about you, but to me, that sounds pretty freak’n awesome of an idea, and one I didn’t even know I wanted until I saw Immortals of Aveum.

Even with the less-than-optimal way of digesting the gameplay and presentation, I could tell that visually, Immortals of Aveum was a title that truly looked to be a next-gen experience. It looked stunningly gorgeous, with buttery smooth performance and a spectacle of animations and particle effects that helped bring the whole magic theme of the game to life. And based on our short viewing, it seems that Immortals of Aveum is rather cutscene heavy. Not that there is anything wrong with that, especially given that the title is supposedly around 25 hours long.

If Immortals of Aveum ends up being as good as it looks come this summer release, then Ascendant Studios may just have this year’s sleeper hit upon us.

For now, the official Blizzard customer service account has not acknowledged the downtime just yet. Hopefully, it’s not another DDoS attack, which happened earlier this week. This is definitely bad timing, as the big season 4 content drop just rolled out this week, which introduced a new hero in Lifewaver. Read on here for all the new content included in the new season.

Once we have any new developments regarding the server outage, we’ll update the article ASAP, so refresh it from time to time.

Immortals of Aveum Won’t Feature In-Game Microtransactions, Won’t Require Internet Connection to Play

Players looking forward to the EA Originals’ Immortals of Aveum, will be glad to know that the magic-based action game won’t require that players always be online, nor will it launch with any microtransactions.

One of the biggest and perhaps most annoying gaming trends that have surfaced over the last decade is the requirement of an always-online connection, specifically for titles that have been crafted as single-player games, or at least titles that have the option to play entirely by yourself. To be at the mercy of a game’s server when all you want to do is jump in and continue the story has never been one that made sense.

Luckily, the upcoming EA title, Immortals of Aveum, won’t require an internet connection to play it. Not only that, but surprisingly at this day and age, Immortals of Aveum won’t feature in-game microtransactions, either! The bits of info was revealed during our group Q&A session with Ascendant Studios, where CEO and game director Bret Robbins confirmed that the title could be played entirely offline, and yes, not feature any in-game monetization of any kind.

You’re not required to be online to play. It is single player and there is no in-game monetization. – Bret Robbins, CEO and game director at Ascendant Studios.

Given that Immortals of Aveum is a single-player focused experience, that should be a no-brainer; however, as noted, there hasbeen trends in some games requiring an always-online connection, even when playing alone. Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a prime example that even though it features co-op, it has been marketed as a game that can be played by yourself, but you still need to be online to do so.

Crystal Dynamics also recently released a patch for Marvel’s Avengers to make it playable offline, but prior, its single-player could not be played without a connection. Other examples of games requiring an online connection to play that doesn’t make sense include Deathloop, which requires an always-online for its main campaign, and there’s the soon-to-be-released Redfall following it as well (but is getting rectified).

It may not seem like a big thing to many, especially since a good chunk of players are always connected, but nonetheless, when those moments the servers are down, it can be frustrating when you just want to continue with a game’s story. So the news of Immortals of Aveum not needing an internet connection is a much-welcomed one.

As for in-game microtransactions, while Immortals of Aveum won’t feature it at launch, that, of course could change down the road; especially if the game gets a multiplayer mode — something the studio themselves have teased to us in the invite-only presentation.

Immortals of Aveum will be casting its way onto the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC on July 20. Check out our first look at gameplay right here.

Immortals of Aveum Multiplayer Hinted at by Devs

While not officially confirming whether or not Immortals of Aveum will feature multiplayer or cooperative play, it seems that Ascendant Studios has, in the least, left the doors open to that possibility.

During a Q&A session last week that MP1st was invited to, Bret Robbins, the CEO and game director at Ascendant Studio, commented briefly on the possibility of Immortals of Aveum getting a multiplayer mode of some sort, and although not confirmed, he did say (while smirking) that it is something the team has discussed while alluding that they’ve might have even worked on it.

“We have spent some time thinking about that for sure. We may have spent some time working on that as well, but we’re not ready to really talk about anything like that. We’re focused fully on the single-player story and the experience right now.”

OK, Bret, I think we “wink, wink” hear you loud and clear, “wink wink.” But seriously, don’t take this as a full confirmation that a multiplayer mode is releasing, as it isn’t official until an announcement makes it so.

Immortals of Aveum will be available on July 20 for the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Check out the first gameplay footage to see how the combat looks.

Immortals of Aveum Campaign Game Length Estimated to Be Over 25 Hours; Plenty of Exploration, Hidden Paths and Secrets

Ascendant Studios promises a beefy campaign with Immortals of Aveum, as the team has revealed the Immortals of Aveum game length estimated completion time.

During a closed press briefing which MP1st attended, CEO and game director at Ascendant Studios, Bret Robbins, revealed that the Immortals of Aveum campaign would take players roughly over 25 hours to beat. That, of course, will depend on the player and the difficulty option (if there are any) selected, though we assume this number is based on the average from their own internal testing.

Robbins only mentioned this specifically for the campaign, meaning it could be even longer for those players looking to experience all of Aveum. According to Robbins, that seems to be a lot, as the game will offer loads of explorations filled with optional paths and hidden secrets for players to discover. In addition, as you progress through the game, you’ll unlock new abilities, which can be used in earlier parts of the game, unlocking newer areas to explore.

Hopefully the game itself ends up making those 25 hours well worth the playthrough, but I guess we’ll find out come release this summer.

Immortals of Aveum will be available on July 20 for the PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

After earlier sightings of a Ubisoft+ page on the Xbox store, Ubisoft has now revealed that its game subscription service is coming to Xbox in the form of Ubisoft+ Multi Access. The Multi Access tier costs $17.99 a month and gives players access to a large selection of Ubisoft titles on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, as well as on PC and through Amazon Luna.

Ubisoft revealed in January 2022 that it would be bringing Ubisoft+ to Xbox consoles as a separate service from Xbox Game Pass at some point in the near future. That commitment has materialized today through the Multi Access tier, which can be subscribed to on the official website here for access to the company’s latest and greatest titles (including DLC) on Xbox platforms as well as on PC and through the Amazon Luna cloud gaming service.

However, as reported by The Verge, Ubisoft+ Multi Access on Xbox will include fewer titles than on PC, though the offerings not available on Xbox can still be played on PC with the Multi Access tier. While the PC-only tier is priced at $14.99 a month, the Multi Access tier is more expensive at $17.99 monthly. It is also pertinent to mention that Ubisoft’s similar commitment to bring the service to PlayStation platforms has not materialized, though its Ubisoft+ Classics offerings are available through PlayStation Plus.

Stay tuned here at MP1st for all upcoming Ubisoft+ and Xbox Game Pass announcements.
