Path of Exile Update 2.44 Out for Crucible Changes This April 13

Grinding Gear Games has released Path of Exile update 2.44 (tagged as patch 3.21.0c) today for several changes to the Crucible expansion. Additional gameplay improvements have also been made to the game. Here is the Path of Exile April 13 patch notes.

Path of Exile 2.44 Patch Notes | Path of Exile 3.21.0c Patch Notes | Path of Exile April 13 Patch Notes:

3.21.0c Patch Notes

This patch disables lower-tier Crucible Passives that have downsides from rolling, and contains updates to the Crucible Forge user interface, as well as a number of other improvements and bug fixes.

Crucible Changes

  • Added an indicator to the Crucible Forge user interface which displays the relative difficulty for the amount of channelling you have done, and how close you are to fully-channelling the encounter.
  • Disabled most of the lower-tier Crucible Passives that have downsides on the initial skill from rolling. Initial skills with downsides are far less common and can generally only roll in the endgame. When an initial skill does come with a downside, the upside should outweigh the downside.
  • The Crucible Passive that granted Weapon Elemental Damage and cannot Inflict Elemental Ailments can no longer roll.
  • Unique Items obtained by selling an item with a Crucible Passive Tree now come with their own Crucible Passive Tree, with the first skill allocated.
  • Crucible Passive Tree Skills that cause the item to sell for an additional Unique Item can no longer be transferred onto other unrelated Base Types by combining Crucible Passive Trees.
  • Updated the explode visuals for the Crucible Passive Tree skill that causes Totems to Explode on Death to be more appropriate.

General Improvements

  • The Caster Passive Skill Mastery which provides a chance to open nearby Chests when you Cast a Spell no longer opens Curio Displays in Heist.
  • The Heist Locker Hideout decoration is now unlocked when you first visit the Rogue Harbour in a League, rather than upon completing The Rogue Harbour quest.
  • The “Flasks you Use apply to Linked Targets” modifier on the Ceinture of Benevolence Unique Belt has been re-enabled, it now only applies to Non-Unique Utility Flasks you Use. We’ve also enabled this Belt to drop again.
  • Updated an Armour Passive Skill Mastery description to clarify it provides maximum Elemental Resistances if Equipped Helmet, Body Armour, Gloves, and Boots all have Armour (previously stated maximum Resistances).
  • Updated the description of the Spreading Strength Challenge to clarify it is completed upon fully allocating Crucible Passive Skill Trees on items with specific maximum depths.
  • Improved the Crucible Forge and Crucible Passive Tree user interfaces for Controller Input mode.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where some Crucible Passives that allow you to sell the item in exchange for a Unique Item were instead rewarding a Rare Item.
  • Fixed a bug where vendoring an item with a Crucible Passive Tree could interrupt expected vendor recipes.
  • Fixed a bug where Corrupted Items could not be combined at the Forge of the Titans in areas opened from Primordial Remnants.
  • Fixed a bug where the Forged Warrior Crucible Monster was dealing more damage than intended with their Geyser skill.
  • Fixed some instances where the tooltip for Crucible passives which allocate a Passive Skill Tree Notable could extend off-screen.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Armour from Equipped Body Armour is doubled” stat from the Juggernaut’s Unbreakable Ascendancy Passive Skill was incorrectly applying a 100% increase instead.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Armour from Equipped Body Armour is doubled” stat was not doubling Evasion from your Body Armour when the Iron Reflexes Keystone Passive Skill was allocated.
  • Fixed a bug where the “increased Armour against Projectiles” modifier did not interact correctly with sources of base Armour or other modifiers, including the Juggernaut’s Unbreakable Ascendancy Passive Skill.
  • Fixed a bug where Vaal Domination was not taking rarity into account when choosing which Sentinel to Ascend.
  • Fixed a bug where the stat on Phantasmal Lightning Tendrils that causes stronger pulses to deal more Damage with Hits and Ailments was not functioning correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where Explorer’s Scouting Reports were not rerolling Kirac’s Atlas Missions correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where the Bestiary Blood Altar user interface would never load in Controller Input mode.
  • Fixed a bug where dynamic culling for Rage Vortex was too aggressive.
  • Fixed a bug where searching for Maps on the Bulk Item Exchange section of the Path of Exile: Trade website was not working correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where skill effect microtransactions could not be applied to skills granted by unique items that do not have a skill gem.
  • Fixed a bug where part of the Lithomancer’s Body Armour was missing on all classes except the Witch.
  • Fixed a bug with the visuals of the Harlequin Portal Effect microtransaction.
  • Fixed an instance crash.
  • Fixed a client crash.

EA Sports PGA Tour Upcoming Fixes and Improvements Outlined

If you’re playing EA Sports PGA Tour and noticed quite a few bugs and other items that needs fix, the devs are aware of the issues and have acknowledged ’em today. EA has given a list of EA Sports PGA Tour upcoming fixes that are in the works.

EA Sports PGA Tour Upcoming Fixes and Improvements:

  • 3-Click Swing – The game’s initial swing animation was designed to accurately replicate golfer motion and was a design choice to elevate the game’s realism. To enhance the experience further, the team will be adding later this month the 3-click swing, a staple on golf games for decades.

  • Career Mode Options – The team has heard player feedback about wanting more options outside of Quick Play and Full Rounds during Career Mode and are exploring ways to provide you with more choice in this area.

  • Camera Angle and Zoom Issues – The team has been investigating ways to improve the pre-shot zoom camera, focusing on improvements for players who don’t use the putting grid and need lower camera angles to manually read greens.

  • And More including Putting Grid, Cup Physics and Online Matchmaking tweaks, a “Fast Play” presentation option and more Online Game Formats

In a separate blog post, EA also listed the following as being looked into:

Camera Angle and Zoom Issues – We have been investigating the various reports of certain camera angles sometimes obscuring gameplay; we will be implementing improvements to remedy those issues in future updates.

Cup Physics – As a result of feedback received during early access and launch, we fixed an issue where the visual representation of the cup was slightly larger than its actual size in physics. This resulted in instances where it appeared that the ball rolled over the edge of the cup when it should have lipped in. This fix will be implemented in an upcoming update.

Fast Play – We are aware of a variety of community feedback around the frequency in which golfer reactions are shown following a shot and various other presentation elements

Putt Meter and Button Hints – We recognize players have asked for more options to disable shot aids and visual feedback for a more immersive simulation experience. In response to this feedback we will be adding two additional settings to provide further choice in this area, “Putt Meter” and “Button Hints” settings.

Online Matchmaking – We’re aware of the challenges some players have had finding opponents and getting into fuller sessions when using online matchmaking. We’ve already made multiple updates to our matchmaking algorithms to improve how we’re grouping players together to get fuller matches and made updates to our matchmaking mode offerings to group players together more effectively.

The listed items above will be released in a future update according to EA, though there’s no firm release date(s) for it just yet.

You can also check out a list of hotfixes made based on community feedback right here.

PowerWash Simulator Roadmap for 2023 Revealed; Free Update “The Muckingham Files” Incoming on April 18

PowerWash Simulator, the cleaning simulator game by FuturLab, is set to receive various updates throughout 2023 with a mix of free content and paid DLCs. The upcoming content was announced via a PowerWash Simulator roadmap for 2023, detailing which updates players can expect during the remaining months of 2023.

The series of updates kicks off this April 18 with a free update called “The Muckingham Files.” Players will be able to explore “never-before-seen places” from the base game’s universe, with various things to clean, including a satellite dish and solar water plant, among other things, and is due for release in April 18.

Here’s what players can expect from The Muckingham FIles:

Remember the Mauka Aitu Desert? The place where you cleaned the ancient statue and monument, and that old steam train? Well, it’s not just full of aged relics but also home to some more advanced technology – namely a Solar Water Plant and a huge Satellite Dish. It’s down to you to dust off all that sand, for a satisfyingly sparkly finish.

You’ll be glad for a short reprieve to the lush green of Muckingham’s recreation ground, where a filthy food truck is spoiling the view. Once you’ve finished, it’ll be the shimmering centrepiece of the park.

The free title update will comprise of the three jobs mentioned above and the folllwing:

Old Jobs get a New Story

Looking to brush up on local lore? The pre-existing bonus jobs have had new stories added that supplement (whilst not continuing) the main story – bringing them in line with this update and any future updates in the Muckingham universe. Replay them for more tales and tit-bits from your favourite filthy town.

Bug Fixes

Various bug fixes will also come with this next update tackling issues across platforms – thanks for your patience with this.

After The Muckingham Files, a paid DLC will also be made available during Q2 of 2023. The latter half of the year will also get both free content and a paid DLC each quarter, with “exciting news” also planned for Q3, though we don’t know what this “news” may allude to.

For those interested in collecting physical editions of games, PowerWash Simulator is also getting one later this year. This version of the game will be available for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. Preorders for the physical version are open now, with the official release set for June 13 later this year (link here).

With the first of many updates set to arrive next week, players will have much to wash and clean throughout 2023.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Has Gone Gold Ahead of May 26 Release

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the upcoming fantasy action-adventure title from Daedalic Entertainment, has finally gone gold ahead of the game’s release in late May. This marks the game being completed a month and a half before its planned release date.

Here’s the official announcement tweet:

In “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum,” players traverse through the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s story as one of its most iconic characters, whose goal is to chase his beloved “Precious.” Here’s the game’s official description via the Steam store page:

Athletic and agile, sneaky and cunning. Driven by the desire to once again hold in his hands what he lost, Gollum is one of the most fascinating characters in the world of The Lord of the Rings™.

He has seen things that others can not imagine, he has survived things that others would not dare mention. Torn by his split personality, he can be vicious and villainous as Gollum, but social and cautious as Sméagol.

While being vital to the story by J.R.R. Tolkien, many parts of Gollum’s quest have not been told in detail yet. In The Lord of the Rings: Gollum™ you get to experience this story. From his time as a slave below the Dark Tower to his stay with the Elves of Mirkwood.

Use stealth, agility and cunning to survive and overcome what lies ahead. Climb, leap and grapple your way past dangers or into advantageous spots.

While Gollum might not be a fighter, it is not unlike him to assassinate a careless enemy when the chance presents itself – or dispose of them in more creative and villainous ways.

The decisions you make and the way you play have a direct influence on Gollum’s personality: Always struggling between the two sides embodied by Gollum and Sméagol, it is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol. One mind, two egos – you decide!

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum crawls out this May 25 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Switch version planned for a later date.

Xbox April Update Launches This Week, Adds New Search Experience and Active Hours

Xbox is getting another system update this April, featuring an improved search function and adjustable active hours for power saving. The Xbox April update is set to roll out “this week” with the newly announced features.

The updated Xbox search experience includes a brand-new look, more visible “gallery-style” results, and other options, including one to “search on YouTube” if you’re looking for a video instead of a game. You can also use RB/LB to browse the different categories and filter your search results even further.

Users can now adjust power settings and active hours for their Xbox consoles whenever they’d like following the April update, too. The setting is accessible by heading to Settings > General > Power options, and you can either toggle the carbon aware updates by selecting Shutdown or choose a set of active hours by selecting the Sleep option. The “carbon aware” updates, for those unfamiliar, are a new type of update that aims to conserve overall power usage of your Xbox console by only updating games and apps during hours when carbon emissions are lower.

With both features looking to arrive on Xbox consoles this week, users should have an easier time browsing content and letting their devices run without much supervision.

Once the firmware update is out, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Amnesia: The Bunker Delayed Again Until May 23 to Avoid “Packed” Release Week

Amnesia: The Bunker, the first-person horror title by Frictional Games, has been delayed once more till May 23, one week later than its previous date of May 16. The game had previously been delayed earlier this year due to “a slew of illnesses that has affected the development.”

Here’s the full statement on the delay:

Hey Horror fans! 😊

Exciting news – Amnesia: The Bunker will now be launching on May 23rd, 2023!

Our friends at Frictional Games have decided to delay the release by one week for a couple of reasons. First, they’re taking this extra time to add even more polish to the game, ensuring that everything is absolutely perfect for you when it launches. 🎮🌟

Second, they’re carefully timing the release to avoid a week packed with awesome titles from other talented studios. This thoughtful decision means you can fully immerse yourselves in each amazing gaming experience, without feeling overwhelmed.

We just can’t wait for you to experience this unique and thrilling take on the horror genre. Get ready to dive into the Bunker – it’s going to be incredible!

Stay excited, and see you soon!

While the delay gives more time for Frictional Games to add additional touches to Amnesia: The Bunker, it seems that it was also called to avoid games set to release during the same week. This includes titles such as The Outlast Trials’ Early Access on PC and Lego 2K Drive, with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also set to release a week prior.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Verdugo Boss Fight Can Be Skipped With Hilariously Simple Glitch

The Resident Evil 4 remake does an incredible of job of not only revamping the gameplay and design of the original title, but also expanding on many of its memorable sections and themes. For example, the fight (or escape) against Salazar’s minion  Verdugo has been made significantly more intense and interactive, though it can still be quite a chore for those seeking to speedrun the game or just avoid the inconvenience. Quite conveniently, a simple Resident Evil 4 remake Verdugo skip/exploit has been found that lets players wait out the entire encounter in complete safety and progress to the next section without having to waste resources on fighting the massive human-Plaga mutant.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Verdugo Boss Fight Skip/Glitch:

The glitch, as discovered by YouTuber Games from Mars, only requires that players possess a scoped rifle in Chapter 10 before they engage Verdugo, and can be utilized as follows:

  1. Start the fight and then freeze Verdugo in a liquid nitrogen shower.
  2. Quickly melee Verdugo, and then run to the gate.
  3. Turn the door locking wheel, and make your way to the elevator while dodging Verdugo’s QTE attacks once the gate is open.
  4. Once you reach the elevator, turn around so that the elevator is to your back and stand against it.
  5. Use the rifle’s scope to aim straight down at the floor.

Once Verdugo reaches your location, he will run into you but will not attack or damage you if you have followed the steps correctly. All that is to left is to simply wait a few minutes until the elevator arrives, and then enter it. Verdugo will leave the area if you enter the elevator, but will return if you go back to loot the area.

You can watch the glitch in action below:

Redfall Xbox Versions to Only Feature 30fps Quality Mode at Launch; 60fps Performance Mode Coming Later With Update

In what will be somewhat-disappointing news for Xbox gamers, Arkane Studios Austin and Bethesda Softworks have confirmed that Redfall will launch on Xbox Series X|S consoles with only a 30fps Quality mode. However, the developers do promise that a 60fps Performance mode will be patched in later with a game update, though the exact date for said update has not been revealed.

Arkane’s upcoming PC/Xbox-only FPS vampire horror title Redfall is a visual treat, but fans will understandably have been wondering about the title’s performance given recent industry-wide troubles with game optimization. It appears that those troubles have extended to Redfall in some capacity as well, as the developers are choosing to launch the game without a 60fps Performance mode on the powerful Xbox Series X|S consoles.

The title will only feature 30fps 4K and 1440p Quality modes on the Series X and Series S, respectively, with a 60fps Performance mode to be added in a future game update. An exact date for the update has not been revealed, but it should hopefully be released shortly after the game’s launch given Arkane’s high hopes for the title.

Redfall creeps out on PC and Xbox Series X|S on May 2, 2023. Players will still be able to enjoy crossplay across all platforms and storefronts when the game launches.
