Dead Space Update 1.005 Stomps Out for Fixes and More This Feb. 17 (Update)

Motive Studio has released Dead Space update 1.005, and this patches in a list of bug fixes, as well as some improvements to the horror game! Read on for the everything new in the Dead Space Feb. 17 patch notes.

Dead Space Update 1.005 Patch Notes | Dead Space Feb. 17 Patch Notes:

Update: EA has clarified that the HDR10 bulletpoint included in the patch notes aren’t included in this title update. We’ve updated the article accordingly.

Size: 232MB (PC)

  • Steam Deck Improvements
  • The game will now recognise if the player has collected the Crew Quarters key card before reaching Chapter 10 and getting the objective ‘Find the Crew Deck key’. —-> If you’re loading a save where you were already in this state and the game doesn’t update, travel away from the area (60 seconds approx.) and return, the game should then update.
  • The door to the security station will properly unlock after the call from Daniels ends during the objective ‘Locate the source of the broadcast. —-> If upon loading a save the door is still in standby, ride the tram to another station and back, wait 30 seconds and the door will unlock.
  • You will no longer be able to launch the asteroid without first destroying the gravity tethers, preventing them from getting stuck. —-> If upon loading a game where you are already stuck, the game will update if the player has destroyed the mining tethers. If you have not destroyed the mining tethers, you should do this, then the game will update.
  • Fixed Dr. Kyne not spawning inside Chief Steward’s office. —-> Will be fixed if the current objective is scrambled with unitologist symbols. Go back to the Cantina, then come back to Hunter fight room. This should trigger the proper quest flow. Then follow the quest markers until you reach Kyne’s sequence.
  • We now allow for the previous suit visual to be equipped —-> Previously acquired suit visuals are available in Storage and can be equipped by selecting them and choosing the “Equip” action. To remove a cosmetic, choose the currently equipped cosmetic suit, from the Storage, and select the “Unequip” option. Changing the cosmetic aspect of a suit does not impact the upgrades you have acquired. Suits are granted as such: Purchase level 2 -> Acquire level 1 cosmetic, Purchase level 3 -> Acquire level 2 cosmetic, etc… For saves where you’ve already acquired specific suit upgrades, the player will be automatically awarded the cosmetics in his Storage.
  • A few other fixes that may help overall, keep us posted here once you’ve updated your game and spent some time with it.

According to EA’s Community Manager, they will update the post as more fixes are known, so there is a chance this list of fixes/changes will be longer, so stay tuned!

The Division 2 Compensation Cache for Last Week’s Issues Available on Feb. 17

To make up for last week’s gameplay disruption, Massive Entertainment is issuing The Division 2 Compensation Caches on February 17 containing Field Recon Data, SHD Calibration, and other materials. The Compensation Caches will be delivered directly to players’ inboxes tomorrow and will be available for pick up until February 27.

An attempt by the developers to fix the localization issue that resulted in Season 11’s indefinite delay unfortunately broke the game’s build generation system. As a result, no new updates could be pushed out to extend Season 10: Manhunt’s activities in the meantime. Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft successfully repaired the system by February 10 and extended Season 10’s activities until the launch of Season 11.

In-game compensation for the disruption was also promised at a later date. That compensation will come in the form of a Compensation Cache tomorrow, containing the following materials:

  • 4500 Printer Filament
  • 4500 Receiver Components
  • 4500 Protective Fabric
  • 2625 Titanium
  • 2625 Electronics
  • 2625 Carbon Fiber
  • 1525 Steel
  • 1525 Ceramics
  • 1525 Polycarbonate
  • 240 Field Recon Data
  • 110 SHD Calibration
  • 55 Exotic Components

The Compensation Cache will be available in players’ inboxes on February 17, and can be picked up until February 27.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Amazon Luna. Season 11: Reign of Fire still has no release date. Stay tuned here at MP1st for all updates and announcements about The Division 2.

SEGA: Sonic Frontiers Sales “Greatly Exceeded” Original Estimates

While Sonic Frontiers didn’t exactly light the gaming world on fire critically when it was released last year, it seems that hasn’t affected the game’s sales, as SEGA has revealed that the Sonic Frontiers sales have “greatly exceeded” the company’s original estimates.

This was revealed in SEGA’s latest quarterly financials report, where SEGA answered why they haven’t decreased the price all that much for Sonic Fontiers in game sales.

Q: Even though you have done sales for Sonic Frontiers, the average unit price has not decreased that much. Please tell us about your future sales strategy.

A: We are proceeding with this title based on a strategic sales plan. We conducted intensive promotions around the November release, and as announced recently, we have been able to achieve good results so far. A temporary sale was held around Black Friday, but the selling price has since returned to normal. We have been able to achieve these results while maintaining a certain level of quality, and the number of units sold greatly exceeded our original estimation. We will continue to sell over the long term based on sales strategies such as pricing, promotions, and the development of further DLC.

Not only that, but SEGA’s already thinking of a sequel to the game, and has confirmed that the company will focus on games like it, and will even feature a larger budget!

Q: With the strong performance of Sonic Frontiers and other global titles, will you be focusing more on products like it in the future?

A: We expect development costs for new titles to grow even larger in the future. We will strive to ensure solid quality in the development of major titles from our existing franchises. However, development labour costs will rise due to the impact of the global external environment, and we expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future. Since it is necessary to take on these challenges for major titles, we are proceeding with a bigger budget, even from the basic research stage. Therefore, we assume that development costs for future new titles will increase accordingly.

With the game crossing over the 2.5 million mark in just a month from release, it’s evident that there are a lot of hungry Sonic fans out there. Imagine if the sequel improved upon the originals flaws? It might even sold way more.

If you haven’t picked the game up yet, go read our Sonic Frontiers review!

Pharaoh: A New Era Review – Build Like an Egyptian

We may never know the truth behind the fascinating construction of the magnificent pyramids, but with Pharaoh: A New Era we’ll dive deep into other secrets of the Egyptian civilization. This is a remake of Sierra Entertainment’s classic city-building game released in 1999, but publisher Dotemu sweetens the deal with the inclusion of the Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile expansion. Fans of the original will find exactly the right amount of sand, monuments, and complex micro-management that could easily keep them busy for over 4,000 years… in-game years, that is.

Passion of the Nile

As it happens with the best remakes, Pharaoh: A New Era doesn’t restrict itself to a new coat of paint, but what a beautiful coat of paint it is. The detailed but mostly practical graphics of the original are reworked into gorgeous and sharp 4K visuals, going for a cartoony style while staying true to its identity, in a bid to please both newcomers and connoisseurs.

Some of this exquisitely hand-drawn art can be quite the sight, especially larger structures such as monuments, statues, and mausoleums. The uninviting sands punctuated by the occasional patch of grass and vice-versa swiftly become flooded by wave after wave of eager migrants, rushing to the new plots of housing that are your first step into turning this once desertic place into a bursting metropolis. A close look is required to better appreciate the details placed into each character and structure, such as the graceful performers of the dance school or the talented jugglers.

Pharaoh: A New Era review

Housing is but the start of the adventure, with roads necessary to connect each building, and an intricate chain of structures in place for you to learn and master. This is a tough game that does its best to teach you the basics during the tutorial missions, but even so, it feels like a skill test aimed at genre experts who absolutely love to explore the inner-workings and tricks of the trade in such an in-depth game.

Beyond the lovely new art lies a new user interface, one that thankfully trades the original’s Egyptian-styled font for a standard but infinitely more comprehensible one. There were various changes to the interface, which is now more appealing to see and use, an overhaul that saves on unnecessary clicks and lessens the area that it previously occupied, giving room for the graphics to shine.

In a nutshell, to the right you have your building options divided into categories to keep things neat and tidy. From services to food, production, religion, military, and more, a couple of clicks are enough to place a structure and watch it become fully functional. On the left you have a host of analytics that give you full insights on anything you could ever need, from treasury to worker distribution. There are no build times here; your bazaars and assorted facilities only need workers to get going, something that is easier said than done due to the fickle balance that these cities require. A few mistakes could be enough to ruin your plans, throwing your city into debt and to a point of no return.

Each in-game year counts and you must optimize work routes to effortlessly favor your city. One of the features at your disposal are roadblocks, a way to stop inhabitants from wandering into sectors that won’t bring you any benefits, consequently optimizing resource distribution. This is one example of many that city-builder experts will use to its fullest, potentially making all the difference between a successful challenge or a city that is going nowhere fast.

A Plague Tale

Pharaoh: A New Era review

Pharaoh: A New Era isn’t an easy game, and that’s why it includes a few options to make the simulation a little less taxing for the more casual players. Aging population is one of the examples at hand, taking the limitations of aging population out of the equation and effectively allowing you to have a fixed worker ratio of 40% always available for work.

Being a Pharaoh isn’t all about building and managing the city’s facilities, there’s conflict as well. You may get the favor of the Gods or summon their wrath through various types of plagues, and opposing forces may attempt to pillage your territory in battles that are somewhat simplistic, a revamp that may divide opinions among fans of the original. One can claim that the focus of Pharaoh: A New Era isn’t the warfare, and rightly so, but as it stands, battles feel more like an afterthought than something fully realized.

One issue that may stump some players is the vast amount of information and the somewhat vague conditions to progress in a mission. The little hand-holding there is will please skilled strategists, but others will find themselves overwhelmed with all the charts and statistics to review. Failing to properly analyze these, along with each citizen’s needs will make the risk of running into debt a serious one, potentially compromising hours of commitment.

So Much to Do, So Much to See

Pharaoh: A New Era review

Pharaoh: A New Era is a remake that works by respecting the original game and addressing some significant issues, namely UI design and functionality. The graphical update is a charming one and will only bother players who for some reason loathe cartoon hand-drawn worlds. In the end, what matters the most is that this is a rich, complex, and compelling city-builder that is going to please the most demanding fans of the genre for many weeks, potentially months to come.

Score: 8/10

Pros:

  • A remake that mostly stays faithful to the original
  • Cleaner and more efficient UI
  • Complex and absorbing gameplay
  • Beautiful hand-drawn cartoon graphics
  • A longevity for the ages

Cons:

  • Battle system was changed into a simplistic affair
  • Amount of information can be overwhelming for some players

Pharaoh: A New Era review code provided by publisher. You can read MP1st’s review and scoring policy right here.

Battlefield 2042 Season 4: Eleventh Hour Officially Announced With Camila Blasco Bio; Gameplay Out Tomorrow

As expected from the datamines, Battlefield 2042 Season 4 will indeed be called “Eleventh Hour.” Another thing confirmed is that the new specialist, which we reported about last week, will be Camila Blasco.

This was announced by DICE today, alongside confirmation that the gameplay reveal for Season 4 will take place tomorrow.

Alongside that, Camila Blasco’s bio has also been revealed today too!

II: BLASCO PROFILE

BLASCO, CAMILA

Citizen: Spain (dual), Panama (dual)
Weight: 180lbs
Height: 5ft, 10in
Eye Color: Dark Brown
Hair Color: Brown

Birthdate: May 12th, 2012 (Age 31)
Marital Status: Unmarried
Languages: Peninsular Spanish, Panamanian Spanish, English
Military Service: Fuerza de Guerra Naval Especial (FGNE), 4 years

Camila is the only child of Ander and Julia Blasco, a middle-class couple who immigrated to Colón, Panama from southern Spain. According to primary school records from the time, Camila was a skilled swimmer and spent most of her free time around ships in the local seaport.

When the freshwater supply crisis reached Panama, suffocated trade led to a massive price spike in necessary goods, resulting in riots across the country. Camila’s parents sent the girl to Vigo, Spain to live with her grandfather Antonio, hoping to stabilize her education.

Antonio Blasco was a known critic of Franco’s regime, and his politics appear to have lit a rebellious fire in Camila’s heart. She trained in self-defense as a teenager, and in 2028, enrolled in the prestigious Naval Academy in Marin, Spain. Camila excelled during the five year program and emerged as an officer in the Fuerza de Guerra Naval Especial.

The FGNE assigned Camila to a reconnaissance unit tied to Spain’s anti-piracy efforts, where she led missions with her team to destroy entire islands’ worth of materiel. Sustained success earned a promotion to Capitán, as well as a new assignment with the European Union’s CSDP, focused on broader European defense and crisis management.

In 2035, the death of Camila’s grandfather sent her back to Spain. At the funeral, she was united with her parents for the first time in more than a decade, but years after Panama’s collapse, Spain was showing similar signs of instability due to climate-induced crop fires and a growing food shortage.

Camila returned to duty on the SPS Impávido, a newly commissioned vessel that was sent to handle the South African refugee crisis in the wake of devastating floods. Her actions during the crisis earned a promotion to Comandante, but before the Impávido could return to port, the ship was assaulted and boarded by pirates. Her commanding officers were taken hostage and held for ransom, but internal collapse of the Spanish government resulted in no response to the Impávido’s SOS.

As the pirates began to slaughter her fellow officers, Camila led a breakout from the brig and recaptured the ship. She personally executed their remaining assailants and took acting command of the Impávido. Lack of support from the Spanish government – and a unanimous vote from her surviving crew – led to Camila defecting to the nonpatriated cause in 2038.

Presently, Camila heads an entire No-Pat fleet, and logistics between these ships essentially serves as a floating city. Her charismatic leadership has earned the affectionate nickname ‘Admiral’, and she aids non-patriated causes across the world.

There’s more to read regarding Blasco and her exploits right here.

As for BF2042 Season 4, it’s been reported that the new map will be called Flashpoint. Check in tomorrow to see that alongside the new weapons headed to the game.

Wild Hearts – Maul Weapon Guide

Among the five weapons available to the player at the start of Wild Hearts, the maul is arguably the most difficult to wield. It’s a slow melee weapon that makes use of an extendable helve that increases both range and damage. Not only are mauls more immobile than other weapons, but they also require precise timing to properly use. Once mastered, however, the maul can become a deadly weapon that can take down kemono with ease. In our Wild Hearts maul weapon guide, we will attempt to break down this mechanically demanding, monster-slaying hammer.

Do note that as with every weapon, you unlock more moves as you progress through the story. As this can be a bit of a spoiler to some, we’ll only cover the karakuri moves that you can pull off via the crate and the spring, which you gain access to fairly early on in the game.

Wild Hearts Maul Weapon Guide

Overview

The maul is a melee weapon that gains damage and range with the help of an extendable helve. It relies on precise timings to extend the helve, leading to heavy-hitting attacks and repeatable combos. It’s also a somewhat immobile weapon with long animation times, which can be punishing if you’re too aggressive against an enemy kemono that’s ready to attack.

Square Button – Pound Combo

Pressing the Square button executes up to three attacks with the maul. These attacks involve a pound, followed by an upswing, then an overhead swing. While you can tap them in quick succession for a series of fast hits, they don’t really do a whole lot of damage and you generally want to be avoiding this particular combo.

Triangle Button – Jumping Smash

Pressing the Triangle button will execute a simple jumping smash. This moves your character in the direction of the smash by a small distance. Because this attack ends with the maul on the ground in front of you, you can actually chain this attack into Square > Square to execute the last two attacks of the Square combo.

R2 Button – Power Smash/Extend

The R2 button does one of two things. When held, your character spins the maul around, flinging any karakuri the weapon comes in contact with. Holding the button further causes your character to spin around with the maul, dealing consistent damage in a circle around you. This move drains stamina, and after a certain duration, your character will perform one final downward power smash and deal significant damage in an area.

Pressing the R2 button on its own doesn’t do anything other than execute the first part of the spinning move, but when used just right after pressing a Square or Triangle attack, the maul extends. This extension can happen up to two times and changes the next attack you make with it.  The attack that comes after the extension depends on which button you press. Note that extensions drain your stamina.

The timing for pressing the R2 button in order to extend the helve is pretty tight, and it’s recommended you practice this timing for a bit to get a feel for it. The window is right after you see the flash of light and hear a specific sound effect, both of which signal that it’s time to press R2. Pressing the button too early or too late will do nothing and whiff the combo, so you’ll need to be consistent with your timings if you want to master the maul.

R2 Combos

Extending with R2 following an attack opens up lots of different combos. Because Triangle (Jumping Smash) and the first Square attack (Pound) both leave the character in the same pose, following this up with R2 results in the same “state” that you can then chain with another Square or Triangle attack. Pressing Square after this state executes an extended upswing, and following that up with another R2 > Square results in a fully extended pound, which deals a huge amount of damage, even more so than the final power smash after holding R2.

On the other hand, pressing Triangle after your first extension will instead launch you into the air and do a vertical spinning attack. This can then be followed up by another R2 into another Triangle attack to execute a fully extended jumping pummel.

You’ll notice that the extension prompt appears despite already extending the maul twice. Pressing R2 once more, followed by another Triangle attack, will execute another fully extended jumping pummel. You can loop this jumping pummel as long as you have stamina, giving you up to four successive jumping pummels. This gives you serious air time and makes it difficult for some kemono to reach you, but you’ll need to time each pummel correctly in order to pull it off.

After extending the pummel twice following a Triangle attack, you can press Square instead of Triangle to execute Centrifugal Smash, a downward spinning move that deals moderate damage. It’s a great way to exit your aerial combo if you’d rather finish it before running out of stamina completely.

There’s also a way to enter the spinning power smash move mid-combo. After launching yourself in the air with Square > R2 > Triangle or Triangle > R2 > Triangle, you can hold R2 instead of pressing it during your next window to perform the power smash already fully extended. You’ll start spinning while still in the air and finish with the downward power smash once you run out of stamina.

Finally, you can actually execute a special extended attack after tapping Square twice. Following an unextended upswing after pressing Square > Square, you can press R2 and then Square again to perform an extended overhead swing. This has a very long animation and doesn’t do nearly as much damage as a fully extended pound, but it’s still better than finishing the Square combo without any extension.

You can also press Triangle instead of Square during this combo to enter the jumping pummel loop.

In summary, pressing Square after extending with R2 will generally result in a stationary attack, whereas pressing Triangle will result in an aerial one. Knowing when to use what type of attack during a hunt is what separates the novices from the pros.

Karakuri Moves

The maul has a couple of karakuri moves, one of which you may want to use quite often. The crate-based attack simply executes Centrifugal Smash, the same downward spinning attack that you can use to exit the aerial Triangle combo.

The spring-based attack performs a flying jumping smash, which you can actually follow up into an extension and then a possible jumping pummel chain.

Using the spring to extend your maul may be more efficient than using a regular jumping smash, especially when you want to get close to a kemono right away.

In Action

Hunting with a maul can be a bit tricky. Since you don’t have reliable ways of creating openings yourself, you’ll have to look for them instead. You can use the jumping pummels to avoid certain kemono attacks while dishing out decent damage, and always remember to use the extended Square combo when the kemono is prone.

Karakuri is extremely helpful when using mauls as they can stun or knock down kemono. Always use them to your advantage and save enough thread for certain Fusion Karakuri as necessary (such as the Bulwark when hunting a Kingtusk).

The maul can feel a little clunkier than the other weapons in Wild Hearts, but it’s a great choice for those who love heavy-hitting weapons and are willing to take the time to wield it.

Wild Hearts – Bow Weapon Guide

Taking down foes from a distance, the bow is a simple weapon that offers good damage and mobility while also being pretty easy to pick up, even for beginners. It’s one of the game’s two ranged weapons, and the only one you get to unlock at the start of the game. If you’re not a fan of getting up close and personal with the ferocious kemono, or you’re just a fan of archery in general, then the bow is for you. We’ll be covering how this weapon works in our Wild Hearts bow weapon guide.

Do note that as with every weapon, you unlock more moves as you progress through the story. As this can be a bit of a spoiler to some, we’ll only cover the karakuri moves that you can pull off via the crate and the spring, which you gain access to fairly early on in the game.

Wild Hearts Bow Weapon Guide

Overview

The bow is a ranged weapon that revolves around swapping stances to shoot different types of arrows. Your damage will come in bursts, as the bulk of it is tied to a particular arrow combo. The bow also boasts great mobility, allowing you to charge and shoot while on the move; you can even dash while shooting to dodge kemono attacks. The weapon is a lot simpler than some of the others you get to wield in Wild Hearts, but it’s fun nonetheless.

One thing worth noting for those who have played Monster Hunter games is that you don’t actually need to collect or craft ammo to use this weapon.

Weapon Range

Though the bow does offer the advantage of range versus other weapons, you can’t just shoot down kemono from a mile away. If you’re too far away from the kemono, all of your arrows will only do 1 damage, and haya arrows won’t stick to your target. There isn’t a clear visual indicator for this effective range, so you’ll want to pay close attention to the damage numbers that appear after landing an attack. If you see “1”s, then you should probably stick closer to the kemono.

Square Button – Stance Change

The bow has two stances, and you can freely change between the two by simply pressing the Square button. Holding the bow horizontally allows you to shoot “haya” arrows whereas holding it vertically allows you to shoot “otoya” arrows.

R2 – Shoot

While other weapons use multiple buttons to trigger attacks, the bow only uses one: R2. Pressing R2 shoots out an arrow type based on your current stance. Haya arrows from the horizontal stance do less damage but stick to their target, and otoya arrows fire at a slower rate but trigger any lodged haya arrows on the target. As such, your playstyle will essentially boil down to shooting multiple haya arrows at a kemono before “resonating” them with an otoya arrow.

When shooting haya arrows, pressing R2 multiple times will trigger a combo of sorts. You will fire one, then two, then three arrows in a horizontal spread.

When shooting otoya arrows, you can either tap or hold R2. Tapping R2 will fire an uncharged arrow that does minimal damage and does not proc the haya arrows. As such, you generally want to avoid this.

On the other hand, holding R2 will charge the arrow up to two times. Each charge increases the damage of both the otoya arrow as well as the resonance damage from the lodged haya arrows. Ideally, you want to charge the otoya arrow twice for maximum damage.

Note that you can dash slightly by pressing the Circle button while firing haya arrows or charging your otoya arrow, so you can deal damage while still dodging kemono attacks.

Triangle Button – Strengthen

You can deal even more damage with Triangle, which augments your next attack and causes it to deal increased damage. You can strengthen your bow twice, resulting in four unique moves depending on how many times you’ve charged and what stance you’re in when shooting the arrow.

When in the horizontal stance, one charge lets you shoot a barrage of haya arrows by holding down R2. The longer you hold down R2, the more arrows you shoot, but it also drains stamina with every shot, so keep that in mind.

Two charges will instead fire a rain of arrows a distance away from your character. This has considerable range but can be hard to aim if you’re right on top of the kemono, though you can move where the arrows will land. You can also hold it to shoot even more arrows, just like the haya barrage with one Triangle charge.

Both charged versions also allow you to dash while shooting, but this can drain a lot of stamina very quickly, so be careful when using them.

When in the vertical stance, one charge will shoot out a strengthened otoya arrow. This doesn’t do as much damage as a regular, fully charged otoya arrow, but it does proc haya arrows.

Two charges will instead cause your character to kneel and fire a heavy-hitting otoya arrow that also triggers the highest resonance damage out of any other otoya arrow shot.

Ideally, you want to trigger the haya arrows with this double-strengthened shot, but since the animation is incredibly long, this can leave you vulnerable to kemono attacks. Though you can’t cancel the animation with a dash, you can do so by jumping instead.

If you strengthened your bow in one stance but want to shoot in the other stance, don’t worry, as the bow stays strengthened even after switching stances.

Karakuri Moves

The bow’s karakuri attacks not only do decent damage but also strengthen your bow after landing the attack, making them great for setting up a heavy-hitting resonance combo. The crate-based attack, for example, fully strengthens your bow, which you can then use to proc haya arrows immediately after.

On the other hand, the spring-based attack fires three haya arrows (regardless of current stance) and strengthens your bow by one level. You can use this to burst fire haya arrows or strengthen it once more with Triangle.

Both of these karakuri moves are efficient as you don’t need to waste time strengthening the bow by pressing Triangle, so they should be used whenever possible.

In Action

Hunting with the bow is extremely straightforward. Upon reaching your target kemono, you’ll want to land as many haya arrows on it as possible. If you’ve got the stamina for it, strengthen the bow to fire lots of haya arrows. If you’d rather not deplete your stamina and you want to play safe, just spam R2 instead and dodge with Circle as necessary. Once your target has enough arrows on it and it’s prone or reeling from an attack, strengthen your bow twice before shooting a fully empowered otoya arrow and watch those damage numbers fly.

Though it isn’t necessarily the flashiest of weapons, the bow is fairly reliable and doesn’t require hours of practice to get used to. If you enjoyed reading this guide, consider checking out our other Wild Hearts guides here

Dead Space Stats Only 22% Found Peng, Capacity Most Upgraded Node and More

Three weeks into the game’s launch, Motive Studio has released some interesting Dead Space stats aggregated from player data across platforms. Dead Space’s Plasma Cutter has been the most used weapon since the launch of the game, and players appear to have a particular interest in dismembering Necromorphs’ legs (as expected). Not only that, but the Peng treasure has been found by just a fraction of the player base!

Since the game launched last month, the Plasma Cutter has been the most used weapon, even though it is supposed to be an early-game armament. Perhaps the weapon’s particularly effective combination with Stasis and the remake’s dismemberment improvements lend themselves to a particularly gory association.

On the subject of dismemberment, 187 million Necromorph legs have been chopped off by players since release, compared to 136 million arms and 81 million tentacles. Here are some other disturbingly fun stats:

  • The melee stomp ability was used 193,503,788 times on enemies for loot.
  • The Stasis time dilation ability was used on enemies 61,672,091 times.
  • Players died of asphyxiation 168,872 times.
  • 20.73% of players completed the Premeditated Malpractice side quest. 19.18% completed the “You Are Not Authorized” side quest, and 20.73% of players completed the Scientific Methods side quest.
  • The Z-Baller (zero-gravity basketball) achievement was completed 171,362 times.
  • Players have accumulated a total of 7,516,573 deaths so far.
  • The Slasher enemy has the most player kills.
  • Players have died to the Hunter 87,655 times.
  • The most upgraded weapon node is Capacity.
  • The most upgraded suit node is Health (HP).
  • 22.69% of players have found the infamous Peng Treasure.

If you haven’t found Peng yet, go read our guide how to snag that in-game item and achievement/trophy right here.

Motive Studio’s 2023 Dead Space remake is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’re wondering what the fanfare is all about, check out our review of the title on PS5 where we found it “a fantastic way to start the year for horror fans, and one indoctrination worth experiencing.” For help with the game itself, we have a plethora of Dead Space guides that should make it much easier for you to survive aboard the USG Ishimura.
