Rainbow Six Siege Console Anti-Cheat to Be Implemented Against KBM Users in Y8S1.2

After a recent announcement last week that there would be “something big” to announce for console players, Ubisoft finally revealed that Rainbow Six Siege console anti-cheat will be implemented in console versions of the game against keyboard and mouse (KBM) users! This feature, which is set to be patched in will be available in the Y8S1.2 title update.

During an invite-only event for Rainbow Six Siege for Y8S1, Ubisoft explained what’s incoming to gamers later this year. The anti-cheat system, named “Mousetrap,” prevents the use of input spoofing devices, which players would use to play R6 Siege via keyboard and mouse even on console versions of the game. The usage of KBM in console versions of R6 Siege has been “one of the biggest complaints” that Ubisoft receives, and with Mousetrap, they’ve finally taken action on the problem.

Mousetrap was apparently running quietly within R6 Siege for multiple seasons, gathering data while it was still in development. It will allow Ubisoft to know “exactly which players are spoofing, when they were spoofing,” according to Jan Stahlhacke, the Gameplay Programming Team Lead for R6 Siege. Interestingly enough, instead of outright banning spoofers, Ubisoft has decided to “remove the advantage that they get” by adding latency to your inputs. This latency will start off small, but as you play more and more matches, it will reach a point where the lag becomes noticeable. The latency will be removed by simply unplugging the adaptor and using the controller instead.

For those who are concerned about Mousetrap affecting disabled players, Stahlhacke mentions that the team has worked closely with Ubisoft’s accessibility group to ensure that players with disabilities can still play R6 Siege. Disabled players who feel like they’ve been unfairly penalized can contact Ubisoft directly via QR code for support. It’s worth noting that this is still an “experimental solution,” as this sort of system hasn’t been applied in gaming before.

Mousetrap will go live in Year 8, Season 1.2, which has no release date just yet.

Diablo 4 Open Beta Dates and In-Game Cinematic Revealed; Preorders Will Grant Access to Additional Open Beta Weekend

With Diablo 4 releasing in a few months, Blizzard mentioned that they were going to run a beta test for the action roleplaying game before launch, and we finally know when it’s set to occur. Diablo 4 open beta dates are set from March 17 to 19 and March 24 to 26, spanning a total of two weekends next month.

Alongside the open beta date announcement, Blizzard also revealed the opening in-game cinematic for Diablo 4, which also includes your character in it:

While the open beta weekends will run twice, the first weekend on March 17 to 19 is only accessible to those who preordered Diablo 4. The following weekend is fully open, however, so you can try it out for at least a couple of days even if you haven’t preordered a copy just yet.

Players can level up to Level 25 during the open beta weekends, which is a quarter of the full level cap of 100. You will be able to play through the prologue and Act 1, which is set to take place in Fractured Peaks, a mountainous area in Sanctuary and one of the five locations in Diablo 4. It’s also worth noting that character progression is carried over between weekends, which will let players with preorders experience more of the game and story. All open beta progress will be wiped during the full release, however, to give everyone a fair playing ground.

Diablo 4 release this June 6 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Wild Hearts Review – A Thrilling Hunt

Wild Hearts, as a concept, isn’t something we haven’t seen before. It would be remiss of me to not address the monster in the room, which is Capcom’s “Monster Hunter” series. But while Wild Hearts does share quite a lot with the popular monster-hunting franchise, it’s unique and refreshing enough to stand out as a unique, individual experience. There will still be quite a few mentions of MonHun, as both games are incredibly similar, but we’ll stick to Wild Hearts first and foremost, including what makes it good (and bad).

And though Wild Hearts isn’t a game that puts a huge focus on its story, we’ll be keeping this review relatively spoiler-free. There will be mentions of how certain weapons work, but nothing related to the actual plot of Wild Hearts.

Tame a World Gone Wild

Wild Hearts involves the story of a hunter who comes across the ancient power of karakuri, which allows them to manifest various contraptions in order to take down kemono, wild beasts that have taken over the land of Azuma. As you hunt more kemono and upgrade your weapons, you’ll eventually explore more and more of the region, reporting back to the city of Minato every now and then.

When it comes to building a mythical world full of Wild Hearts, Omega Force did a somewhat great job of setting the right stage. The starting area looks wild and vibrant, and better yet, you can make them your very own hunting grounds by constructing karakuri to build bases, forge tools, and even zip your way across cliffs and hard-to-reach areas. Though your base-building capabilities are limited at first, you get to add more structures as you progress, and it was fun designing my own base of operations in the different zones.

Unfortunately, the same detail you get in the first zone doesn’t carry over to future zones you visit. Some of them seem like they lack details, and certain areas can feel a little too barren, even for a wild and uninhabited land. It looks like Omega Force put out all the stops for the first zone to leave a good impression, but didn’t have the time or resources to make the following areas as complex.

Sound design isn’t something that’s always talked about in games, but I’ve really gotta hand it to Omega Force with Wild Hearts. The sound effects that come from slashing your katana, smashing your maul, or shooting your bow feel satisfying, and they really sell hard-hitting moves with how impactful they sound. The soundtrack is also great, complementing the fights without actually taking center stage, as it should.

If I’m being nitpicky, the game does lack a bit of the immersive charm you’d get from a Monster Hunter game. There aren’t any cutscenes when crafting weapons (which I found fun to watch every now and then in Monster Hunter World) and no animations for gathering items. Sure, it saves you time, but the tiny details are what often really make the player feel like one with the world. The game puts a focus on combat, and that’s a good thing, but I just wished that they would have given the downtime aspects a little more love.

A Streamlined Hunting Experience

For all the praise that the Monster Hunter series gets, it’s not perfect, and arguably one of its biggest issues is that it’s a tad too complex for a player that’s new to the series to really get their hands dirty with. It can be difficult to wrap your head around combat, weapon sharpness management, consumables and item loadouts, crafting and gathering, ammo types… the list goes on. Sure, if you pour in enough time to really understand the game, you’ll be rewarded with a good experience, but that learning curve can seem a bit too steep to those who want to dip their toes into hunting games.

Wild Hearts does retain some degree of complexity to it, but the experience is somewhat more streamlined. Food lasts throughout a hunt instead of disappearing after you faint, you don’t need to sharpen your weapon between kemono fights, and you won’t have to spend time dedicated to gathering materials for your ammo. And while the game does have a food and crafting system, there are ways to somewhat automate them, with specific dragon karakuri that can gather materials for you while you’re out hunting.

Is this streamlined experience better? That’s a difficult question to answer, as there are players (me included) who enjoy the various aspects and systems of Monster Hunter. Still, I didn’t find it difficult to get used to the non-combat systems in Wild Hearts, and I bet other players will have a similarly smooth experience, too.

Tools of the Trade

Wild Hearts currently contains eight weapon types for players to wield and master, all with distinct playstyles. You start the game with five, and these include simple weapons like the katana, which you start with, and the bow, one of the game’s two ranged weapons. If you’re looking for something to put the time into mastering, the maul and bladed wagasa (a parasol with blades) both offer playstyles that reward careful combat and a proper understanding of the kemono you’re hunting.

Like Monster Hunter, weapons largely define your playstyle while hunting, but there are a few design choices that make Wild Hearts’ selection slightly easier to work with, such as the fact that you don’t actually need to sharpen your weapons while in a hunt. One major aspect of Wild Hearts’ weapons is that they aren’t nearly as “clunky” to wield as their Monster Hunter counterparts. Of course, “clunky” is a subjective term, but you can’t deny the fact that combat in Monster Hunter is a lot less forgiving than it is in other action games. When you press a button to attack, you’re committing to that attack, and barring some exceptions, you just have to hope that the monster doesn’t have its jaws agape and rearing to bite.

Wild Hearts does have its fair share of “clunky” weapons, the nodachi and maul being good examples of this. But unlike the greatsword and hammer from Monster Hunter, you’re actually granted a few ways to stay mobile. The nodachi, for example, uses a charge system to gain power on your next swing, and though taking damage cancels the charge, you can move, dodge, and even attack while doing so, giving you more freedom to do what you want during a hunt. This is not to say that MonHun’s greatsword doesn’t have similar options, but the fact of the matter is that Wild Hearts’ nodachi just feels a lot more active and mobile by comparison.

And mobility comes in spades with Wild Hearts, no matter what weapon you use. The karakuri system gives you the ability to jump, leap, zip, and glide your way in and out of fights, so even if you’re using something as slow as the hand cannon, there are ways to stay on your toes throughout a fight.

The Art of Karakuri

Wild Hearts sets itself apart from other games in the hunting genre through its karakuri system, which allows players to construct all sorts of contraptions and structures during their hunts. These generally fall into two categories; the basic karakuri, which are simple devices that you can build mid-combat, and dragon karakuri, more advanced structures that require the local elements to construct. You can also transform basic karakuri into more powerful fusion karakuri by building them in a specific order or arrangement.

When you first step into the game, you likely won’t be using them all that much, as you can hunt the first couple of monsters without them giving you too much trouble. Once you start discovering more and more kemono, however, you’ll quickly learn that karakuri is instrumental in taking them down; the game even unlocks specific karakuri when fighting kemono that are weak against it.

The default controls for constructing karakuri can be a little tricky to get used to, but after a while, they’ll become a core component of your hunts. While I initially had doubts over how much it would take away from the actual gameplay of your weapons, the karakuri acts as more of a reliable support tool more than anything else, and that’s exactly what makes it so darn fun to use.

Hunting the Ferocious Kemono

The kemono are the monsters of Wild Hearts, and they’re definitely sights to behold. Their designs just scream traditional mythology, and their environment-altering capabilities really ground them in the world they inhabit. These creatures have the ability to transform the land to their will, and this manifests whenever they enrage. Visually, it’s quite the experience, and it really drives home the fact that you’re not just hunting some animal, but an actual mythical beast.

In terms of combat, each kemono fights differently, forcing you to learn their attack patterns and tells. Due to how varied these fighting patterns can be, you may find some kemono more troublesome with certain weapons than others, which I personally think makes the game feel less linear, as you’re incentivized to branch out and try other weapons depending on the situation. You can, of course, simply take down the kemono with whatever weapon you want through sheer skill, so you shouldn’t feel forced to switch weapons all the time, either.

Learning how a monster fights is what makes the hunting genre of games so exciting, and taking down a kemono for the first time will always feel exhilarating. Those who enjoyed playing Monster Hunter blind (that is, without guides or tutorials to assist you) should feel right at home in Wild Hearts, with fights that originally feel impossible with your current weapon turning into speedruns after enough hunting. Overall, you won’t feel disappointed with the kemono of Wild Hearts, especially after you use your finisher on one for the first time (gomen).

Disappointing Performance

Perhaps the biggest gripe I have with this game is its less-than-optimal performance metrics. This is a concern that’s been echoed by many PC players, and though it does run “better” on consoles, you can still experience hiccups.

I’ve personally had frame drops during my hunts even while running the game in Performance mode, which, mind you, sets the game’s resolution to 1080p. Getting dips in framerate even after sacrificing 4K feels like a slap to the face, which is a shame given the fact that everything else about this game deserves all the praise it gets.

Until Omega Force fixes the game’s performance issues (which will hopefully come soon), it will arguably remain a major dealbreaker for would-be players.

A Worthy Competitor

For the longest time, Monster Hunter has been the go-to monster-hunting franchise (sorry, Dauntless). It’s dominated the subgenre for quite a while, and though the recent titles in World and Rise are pretty good, the lack of competition means that there isn’t a whole lot of reason for the series to innovate.

With Wild Hearts entering the fray, however, things may just change. Its deep combat system and fun kemono hunts make for a solid hunting game alongside the unique and creative karakuri system. Its visual storytelling elements and sound design further add to the game’s mythical fantasy, resulting in an experience that you won’t find anywhere else among other monster-hunting titles.

The game is, in a word, solid, save for its glaring performance woes. It may very well be the “start of a saga” that Koei Tecmo hopes it to be, though we’ll have to see how well they handle the game’s post-launch support. Until then, Wild Hearts stands as the best title we currently have as competition in the monster-hunting subgenre, and a pretty good one at that.

Score: 8/10

Pros:

  • Incredibly satisfying weapons and combat that offer various playstyles
  • Beautiful sound effects and soundtrack that complement your hunts
  • Lots of kemono variety with interesting and thrilling fights
  • More streamlined and easier to get into for newbies

Cons:

  • Visual detail and quality is somewhat inconsistent
  • Terrible performance issues that can bog the game down at its best moments
  • Misses some details that would otherwise make the game feel more immersive

Hogwarts Legacy DLC Not in the Works, According to Avalanche Software

Despite Hogwarts Legacy’s massive success, it looks like the game won’t have any DLCs anytime soon. A statement made by Alan Tew, Game Director of Hogwarts Legacy, revealed that Avalance Software has no plans on making Hogwarts Legacy DLC at this time.

Here’s the full quote:

We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life, so at the moment there are no current plans for DLC.

Of course, we can still expect support for Hogwarts Legacy even after the game has launched like many other modern titles. A recent update was just released, for example, that fixed PlayStation trophies and various bug issues.

In the meantime, it looks like we’ll have to rely on dedicated modders to add extra content to the fantasy RPG. A recent multiplayer mod for Hogwarts Legacy, aptly named HogWarp, is currently in the works, and who knows what else the community has planned for the game.

Diablo 3 Season 28 Rites of Sanctuary Brings Altar of Rites, New Season Cosmetics & More on Feb. 24

Diablo 3 Season 28 “Rites of Sanctuary” goes live February 24, bringing the new Altar of Rites feature, new and returning Season Cosmetic and Journey Rewards as well as fresh rotations of Seasonal Conquests and Haedrig’s Gift. Read on for the full details of what’s new with Season 28 and the extensive patch notes covering the optimization and balance changes arriving on February 24.

Diablo 3 Season 28 “Rites of Sanctuary” New Content and Patch Notes:

Season 28 Theme:

Season 28 introduces Rites of Sanctuary, our new seasonal theme. Using the ancient Altar of Rites, curious Nephalem can follow the instructions, sacrificing various materials for unspeakable power that lasts the entire season.

Developer’s Note: Our aim with this Season Theme was to enhance the journey players experience each season by tying material goals to meaningful choices. As we look towards Diablo IV’s release, we wanted to celebrate its arrival with a feature that emphasizes progression as well as offer some interesting details about Sanctuary. We hope you enjoy the Rites of Sanctuary as much as we do.

Season Cosmetic Rewards:

Beginning with Season 17, we began reintroducing previous rewards to make them available to players who may have missed them the first time around. For Season 28, this means rewards originally available from Season 16 are returning. In addition to the Helm and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, players can earn a brand-new series of portrait frames themed around the clarion call of adventure. For the most devoted cosmetic collectors, we have a pair of wings fit for a monarch. The Wings of Lempo draw inspiration from some of the noblest creatures in Sanctuary, and aside from a cosmically rare drop, few other wings are quite as lovely.

diablo 3 season 28 rites of sanctuary season cosmetic rewards

As in past seasons, two new End of Journey cosmetic rewards will be obtainable during Season 28. Gaze upon the Taennin the Tiny pet as she shimmers among the stars, leaving ripples of the purest light behind, and tap into your wild side with the Primal Hunter portrait.

Season Journey Rewards:

If you’ve been diligently slaying demons to reach Conquerer in the Season Journey previously, you’ve surely accrued extra stash tabs. You’ll earn one additional tab each Season by finishing the Conquerer tier, up to a maximum of five:

  • Guardian of Sanctuary: Finish a level 70 Nephalem Rift on Torment XIII difficulty within five minutes.
  • Gem of My Life: Level three Legendary Gems to level 55.
  • All I Do is Win: Complete two Conquests this Season.
  • In For the Kill: Kill Azmodan at level 70 in under 30 seconds on Torment X difficulty.
  • Money Ain’t a Thang: Slay Greed on Torment X difficulty. Treasure Goblins outside of Nephalem Rifts will sometimes open portals to Greed’s domain, The Vault.
  • Take U There: Reach Greater Rift Level 60 Solo. Greater Rift keystones can be obtained from any Nephalem Rift guardian.
  • Power Amplification: Use Kanai’s Cube to augment an Ancient Legendary item with a level 50+ gem.
  • Cubic Reconfiguration: Use Kanai’s Cube to reforge a Legendary item.

Seasonal Conquest:

Speaking of Conquests, we’re rotating those, too! Here’s all the conquests returning for Season 28:

  • Speed Demon and Need for Speed (Hardcore) – Complete a Nephalem Rift at max level on Torment X within 2 minutes.
  • On a Good Day and I Can’t Stop (Hardcore) – Level three Legendary Gems to level 65.
  • Boss Mode and Worlds Apart (Hardcore) – Kill the following bosses at max level on Torment X within 20 minutes of the start of the game.
  • Curses! and Stars Align (Hardcore) – Kill 350 or more monsters in a Cursed Chest event at level 70 on Torment X difficulty.
  • Years of War and Dynasty (Hardcore) – Reach Greater Rift Level 55 Solo without the bonuses of six of the following Class sets.

Haedrig’s Gift:

diablo 3 season 28 rites of sanctuary haedrigs gift rotation

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works:

Completing Chapters II, III, and IV of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!

The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character.

Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 28:

  • Barbarian – Horde of the Ninety Savages
  • Crusader – Aegis of Valor
  • Demon Hunter – Gears of Dreadlands
  • Monk – Patterns of Justice
  • Witch Doctor – Mundunugu’s Regalia
  • Wizard – Typhon’s Veil

Note: All changes apply to all versions of Diablo III, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC unless otherwise indicated.

Season 28: Rites of Sanctuary

diablo 3 season 28 rites of sanctuary

For Season 28, Rites of Sanctuary, we’re travelling deep into the mysterious ruins of the Festering Woods. Amid a mining expedition, citizens hailing from New Tristram stumbled across an ominous Altar carved from an archaic material bearing cryptic markings. Shaken to their core by the eldritch aroma of the monolith, they’ve enlisted the assistance of brave Nephalem willing to investigate this sinister discovery that was once left to time—the Altar of Rites.

Home to power thought to be extinct from Sanctuary, the Altar of Rites will bestow these mystic forces upon worthy Nephalem… after a sacrifice is offered. You can begin interacting with the Altar of Rites at Level one.

Upon arrival at the Altar of Rites, players will see 26 icons called Seals and three Legendary Potion Powers. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the elements below.

When you drink your health potion, gain a random shrine or the Dimensional Power pylon effect.
AD When a primal item drops, a second random primal item drops as well.

Developer’s Note: We wanted the seasonal theme to be powerful and rewarding, but Conduit pylon completely broke the game. So, we made some adjustments to keep the power level high, while having your character’s progression still matter. We have removed all pylons from the final potion power and replaced them with a 16-second Dimensional Power pylon. To compensate for the power decrease, we buffed several damage Seals elsewhere in the tree.

How Seals and Potions Work

As you can see, after unlocking the first Seal, the order in which you unlock additional Seals and obtain their powers is entirely up to you and which powers align with your character’s build the most. Once a Seal or Legendary Potion Power is unlocked, you’ll immediately receive that Seal or Potion’s power and will have the ability to unlock connected Seals or Potions once you have the required materials. All Seals and Potions can be unlocked by players and the powers apply to all your characters—these powers last for the entirety of Season 28.

diablo 3 season 28 rites of sanctuary seals potions

How to Unlock Seals and Potions

Unlocking Seals and Potions will be no easy feat, especially after multiple sacrifices—you’ll find yourself rummaging across Sanctuary slaying scores of demons hellbent on preventing you from acquiring the Altar of Rites’ full power.

Players must gather materials listed in the Altar of Rites menu and sacrifice them in order to gain a Seal or Potion’s power. In addition to receiving the power after unlocking, you’ll notice the generic text previously displayed has been swapped with a small story scrap about Sanctuary’s tumultuous past.

To unlock a Seal, the one preceding it must be unlocked first (this does not apply to Seals R, S, and T because of how they’re positioned within the Altar). For example, if you want to unlock Seal B or C, Seal A must already be unlocked. There is no limit to how many Seals or Potions can be unlocked within a given time period, if you have the required materials to sacrifice to the Altar. Regardless of the order in which you unlock Seals and Potions, the cost will increase as shown below.

Study the cost of each sacrifice and theorize where within Sanctuary you can find some of these rare materials.

diablo 3 season 28 rites of sanctuary wings of terror cosmetic

After you’ve conquered the armies of Hell and acquired the needed materials to unlock all 26 Seals and three Potions, you’ll receive a reward truly fitting of an unstoppable force—the Wings of Terror Cosmetic, Seal AD. We recommend you unlock all Seals and Potions within the Altar of Rites, not only to inspire terror within your foes, but also to piece together the fragments of Sanctuary’s past.

Primordial Ashes Feature:

diablo 3 season 28 rites of sanctuary primordial ashes

Acquiring Primal Items is no small task. That’s why we are adding a new Primordial Ashes feature with this patch to aid in your quest. At the Blacksmith, you can now salvage a Primal Item for 55 Primordial Ashes.

We have also added a Primal Item recipe to Kanai’s Cube, allowing you to upgrade any non-crafted legendary item to a Primal Item for 100 Primordial Ashes. Only one upgraded Primal Item may be worn at a time and upgraded Primal Items do not retain the properties of the Legendary Item that was used. New affixes are rolled for all upgraded Primal Items.

Bug Fixes:

  • Altar of Rites
    • The power description for Seal N has been updated for increased clarity.
    • Pets will no longer pick up and salvage other players’ common, magic, and rare items because of the power from Seal X.
    • Fixed an issue where Seal V caused more progress orbs to drop than intended.

Monk Skill Changes:

  • Combination Strike Passive Skill:
    • Each Spirit Generator you use increases the damage of your other Spirit Generators by 100% for 10 seconds.
  • Crippling Wave Skill:
    • Every third hit also dazes enemies within 11 yards, slowing their movement speed by 30% and attack speed by 20% for 10 seconds.
      • Concussion Rune: Enemies hit by Crippling Wave deal 20% less damage for 10 seconds.
      • Breaking Wave Rune: Enemies hit by Crippling Wave take 10% additional damage from all attacks for 10 seconds.
  • Deadly Reach Skill:
    • Foresight Rune: Every third hit also increases the damage of all your attacks by 15% for 10 seconds.
  • Way of the Hundred Fists:
    • Assimilation Rune: Each enemy hit with the third hit increases your damage by 5% for 10 seconds.

Item Changes:

Barbarian

  • Horde of the Ninety Savages (6-piece bonus):
    • Frenzy deals 2,000% increased damage per stack.

Demon Hunter

  • Chanon Bolter:
    • Your Spike Traps lure enemies to them and deal 150-200% increased damage. Enemies may be taunted once every 10 seconds.
  • The Demon’s Demise:
    • Each blast from Spike Trap will damage all enemies again after 1 second and deals 150-200% increased damage.
  • Natalya’s Slayer:
    • Increases Spike Trap Damage by 10 -15%.
  • Natalya’s Vengeance (2-piece bonus):
    • Hitting an enemy summons a Spike Trap if it is on your action bar. Each Spike Trap detonation restores 1 Discipline.
    • Spike Trap deals 100% increased damage to enemies affected by Caltrops. Spike Trap now instantly refreshes charges on use, no longer cost resources, and each detonation restores 2 Discipline.
  • Natalya’s Vengeance (4-piece bonus):
    • Laying a Spike Trap grants 60% damage reduction. The duration of this bonus is always equal to the number of already laid traps in seconds.
    • Spike Trap explosions will blast affected enemies towards the nearest set Caltrops. Laying a Spike Trap grants 75% damage reduction. The duration of this bonus is always equal to the number of already laid traps in seconds.
  • Natalya’s Vengeance (6-piece bonus):
    • Spike Traps deal 10,000% increased damage, and each consecutive blast from the detonation chain reaction will deal 10% more damage than the previous blast.
    • Spike Trap deals 10,000% increased damage, and each consecutive explosion from the detonated chain reaction will deal 25% more damage than the previous blast.

Developer’s Note: After listening to the community’s feedback about the Natalya’s changes, we wanted to move Natalya’s away from Gears of Dreadlands, giving it a unique identity. We hope Natalya’s playstyle gives players more control over the explosions they set off while navigating the battlefield.

  • Gears of Dreadlands:
    • Your primary skills deal 15,000% increased damage.
    • Your primary skills deal 27,500% increased damage.

Developer’s Note: We’ve taken away the Strafe ability from Natalya’s, but still want to support the players enjoying Strafe builds.

  • The Shadow’s Mantle (2-piece bonus):
    • While equipped with a melee weapon, the damage of your Bolas, Chakram, Fan of Knives, and Impale is increased by 6,000%.
    • The Shadow’s Mantle 2-piece bonus no longer benefits Spike Trap.
  • Trag’oul Coils:
    • Spike Traps gain the Scatter Rune, are deployed twice as fast, and deal 150-200% increased damage.
  • Unhallowed Essence (6-piece bonus):
    • Hatred generators, Vengeance attacks, and Multishot deal 1700% increased damage per point of discipline the Demon Hunter currently has.

Monk

  • Patterns of Justice (6-piece bonus):
    • Hitting with Tempest Rush while Sweeping Wind is active increases the size of Sweeping Wind as well and increases all damage dealt by 20,000.
  • Raiment of Thousand Storms (4-piece bonus):
    • Dashing Strike spends 25 Spirit but refunds a Charge when it does.

Necromancer

  • Masquerade of the Burning Carnival (6-piece bonus):
    • Bone Spear deals 9,000% increased damage. Simulacrums gain triple this bonus.

Witch Doctor

  • Spirit Barrage:
    • Manitou Rune: Summon a specter that hovers over you, unleashing spirit bolts at nearby enemies for 6,000% 14,000% weapon damage as Cold over 20 seconds.

Developer’s Note: Witch Doctors have S-tier solo builds, but their farming builds aren’t as easy to play as other classes. To help, we’ve buffed the Manitou Rune on Spirit Barrage. We hope to give players an improved speed farming build, while also buffing one of their best solo pushing builds in a significant way, producing faster boss kills.

Wizard

  • The Typhon’s Veil (6-piece-bonus):
    • Hydras deal 4,000% increased damage for each Hydra head alive.

Diablo 3 Season 28 Rites of Sanctuary rolls out February 24, 2023 at 8pm ET/5pm PT/1am GMT/9am HKT for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Redfall Physical Version Will Seemingly Contain No Discs and Instead Come With Game Codes (Update)

After the recent revelation that upcoming Bethesda and Arkane Studios shooter Redfall would require a persistent, online connection to play, it appears we have some more disappointing news regarding the game’s physical release. Redfall physical version copies will not contain a game disc like other physical versions of games and instead include “Xbox Play Anywhere” codes.

This information comes from an official FAQ found on the Bethesda website. Here’s the full question and answer:

WHAT CODES DO THE PHYSICAL VERSIONS OF REDFALL COME WITH?

The code contained in the physical PC copies of Redfall are Steam codes.
The physical Xbox copies of Redfall are Xbox Play Anywhere codes which can played on both the Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Xbox App on PC.

The webpage was spotted by a ResetEra user, with the thread commenting on the not-so-pleasant discovery. While games are becoming more and more commonly sold via online platforms, physical sales still do fairly well, with PlayStation and Nintendo Switch games getting physical copies for all their high-profile titles. It’s worth mentioning that the statement doesn’t technically outright state that the physical version won’t have a disc, especially given the fact that selling a physical copy without the actual disc can seem somewhat strange.

Until we get word from Bethesda themselves on the matter, all we can do is wait for the physical copies to arrive on gamers’ doorsteps or hit the shelves.

Update: Bethesda has updated the support article and has now said that the physical edition will come with a disc (thanks, Tom Warren)!

Battlefield 2042 Season 4 Specialist Will Be the Last New One; New Focus Is Listen to Feedback, Skins & Cosmetics

With Season 4 of Battlefield 2042, DICE is introducing a new specialist in Camila Blasco, who will be shoring up the Recon class. If you’re hoping for more specialists to make their way into the game, that won’t be happening, as DICE has confirmed that the Battlefield 2042 Season 4 new specialist will be the last one released for the game!

This was mentioned by DICE during an invite-only event for Season 4 which MP1st took part in. In it, DICE explained that Camila Blasco will be the last specialist to be introduced to the game, round up the total to 14. According to the studio, the new focus will be to “listen to player feedback, and design and balance changes to the classes, as well as expanding on skins and cosmetics.”

While this might sound like a bummer for some, the introduction of classes means that specialists aren’t really needed (or wanted?) all that much. Also, this doesn’t mean that DICE can’t introduce new gadgets, weapons and the like. Maybe with no specialist to focus on, we can have more new maps or even map reworks, which is something DICE knows the fans want.

Battlefield 2042’s Season 4 Eleventh Hour will launch this Feb. 28. You can read more about the new content and watch the gameplay trailer right here.

Is this good news for you or not at all? Sound off down in the comments.

Neon White Update 1.03 Fixes Save Issues and More This Feb. 17

Angel Matrix has pushed out Neon White update 1.03 and this fixes save issues on PlayStation platforms alongside other fixes. Read on for what’s new in the Neon White Feb. 17 patch notes.

Neon White Update 1.03 Patch Notes | Neon White Feb. 17 Patch Notes:

Here’s the full patch notes per the studio:

New PS4/PS5 patch is live today:
+ [PS4/PS5] Added option to choose between locked and unlocked framerates to reduce screen tearing
+ [PS4/PS5] Fixed save wipe issue due to ghost file size
+ [PS4] Added rumble & controller lightbar features

This means we’ve fixed the save data wipe issue on PS4/PS5. Unfortunately, progress previously lost due to the save issue is not recoverable.

Additionally, your save file may already be affected by the issue before the patch: symptoms include ghosts acting odd, gifts not collecting. If so, you will only have the option to start a new game post-patch. Sincere apologies to anyone affected.

Hopefully this should fix any save issues. If there are other changes spotted from this patch, we’ll update the article.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Main Village to Be Bigger, Ada Wong to Play a Big Role Compared to Original

It’s just a little over a month away until Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake launches, and a recent interview with developers Yasuhiro Ampo and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi has revealed some interesting details regarding the upcoming game. Among the questions asked, we learn that the main village in Resident Evil 4 remake is set to be bigger, and the enigmatic Ada Wong will play a much larger role compared to her portrayal in the original 2005 title.

The interview, held by Game Informer, posed a series of questions to the devs. Here are some that stand out:

Ampo: Yes, this time we made Resident Evil 4 based on the events in RE2.

Q: Is the village bigger than before?
Hirabayashi: Is it bigger? What do you think?
A: Umm. The village is… Ah! Yes. It is bigger. The area you can explore is larger than before.

Q: Are there still quick time events?
H: Almost none.

Q: Will there be a New Game Plus?
A: Yes. There is New Game Plus.

Q: Can we utilize the environment more in combat?
H: Yes. In some situations, you can.

Q: How big of a role does Ada Wong play in the story this time?
H: I am sure her role is big?
A: Right.
H: Not small, right?
A: Of course not.

What’s a Xûr?

Xûr, Agent of the Nine, is a strange vendor who randomly appears in a Public Sector on one of the Worlds. Xûr sells Exotic equipment and only takes Legendary Shards in exchange for them.

TL;DR: He’s the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it’s coal.

When does Xûr visit?

Xûr visits every Friday at 17:00 UTC and departs at Weekly Reset (Tuesday 17:00 UTC). If you would like to see all the live conversions of Time Zones, please follow this link here.

Thanks, Reddit!

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards and Map This Week February 17

For those seeking the latest rewards in Destiny 2’s weekly PvP mode, MP1st is here to bring you the new Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards and map this week February 17, 2023 edition!

New Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris Rewards This Week February 17, 2023:

Trials of Osiris Map

Endless Vale

Rewards

  • Reputation Rank 4: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 7: Enhancement Prism (3)
  • Reputation Rank 10: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Reputation Rank 13: Upgrade Module (2)
  • Reputation Rank 16: Trials Weapon (Changes for each rank reset)
  • Flawless Reward: Unwavering Duty (Adept)

Reputation System, Trials Engrams, and Adept Farming

Win individual rounds within each match to gain Trials reputation. The amount of reputation you gain increases with each round you’ve won on your card. Earn enough reputation, and you’ll be able to claim a Trials Engramfrom Saint-14! This engram can be focused into any currently available trials loot you have previously obtained, or it can be taken to Master Rahool for a random Trials drop. Your reputation increases after every match completion, based on the number of round-wins on your card, regardless of the result of that match itself (win or lose, 0-5 or 5-4).

Once you have gone Flawless, keep playing! Every win you achieve while at the 7-win level, even if you lose your Flawless, has a chance to drop bonus Trials Engrams, adept weapons, prisms, and even Ascendant Shards. There is no penalty for losing once you’ve made it to the Lighthouse!

When you’re done, you can cash in your 7-win passage for one additional adept drop, granted you have gone Flawless that week. This resets your card so you can start anew.

Passages

Name Perk Cost
Passage of Ferocity Your third match win grants a bonus win. 10000 Glimmer & 15 Legendary Shards
Passage of Mercy Forgives one loss per run. 10000 Glimmer & 15 Legendary Shards
Passage of Wealth Increased Trials Rank points from reaching 3, 5, and 7 match wins on a ticket. 15000 Glimmer & 25 Legendary Shards
Passage of Confidence Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest. 20000 Glimmer & 50 Legendary Shards

Thanks, Reddit!
