Hogwarts Legacy: Solved By the Bell Quest – Musical Map Treasure Location and Puzzle Guide

Needing help trying to figure out the Solved by the Bell quest in Hogwarts Legacy? Well, don’t worry, as we have you covered, showing you exactly where to go to find the hidden treasure in this Hogwarts Legacy Solved by the Bell quest guide, where we tell you the treasure location and how to solve the puzzle.

Hogwarts Legacy: Solved By The Bell Quest – Musical Map Treasure Location and Puzzle

For this guide, we assume you already picked up the treasure map from Henrietta’s hideaway. The location marked on the map isn’t at all cryptic, as if you look closely, you’ll notice it matches the large body of land in the southern portion of the map.

To be precise, this location (the X mark) is in the Clagmar Castle, which is located in Clagmar Coast.

Go to this spot, and clear out the enemies. There is an unlockable fast-travel point located here that I recommend grabbing, as it’ll be easier to describe where the bells in the picture are

Once you’ve unlocked it, facing towards the castle, use Revelio. You should see a bunch of Bells highlighted. Head there; you’ll see a platform to the left of them that you can stand on, which will set you up for the next part.

The way to solve this puzzle is by hitting the correct bell that corresponds with the note on the music sheet. To make things easier, I have numbered the bells in the right order, so play this in numerical order (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8)

By now, you should have realized that the song on the sheet is the main theme song for Harry Potter. A cool little nod, and if you played it right, there should now be a treasure box next to you.

The reward is the Treasure-Seekers Longcoat cosmetic.

Congrats, you have now solved the mystery, completing Hogwarts Legacy Solved By The Bell side quest. If you found this guide to be helpful, you may like the many other guides we’ve published for Hogwarts Legacy. You can check them all out right here: Hogwarts Legacy Guides.

Scars Above Gameplay Overview Reveals Crafting System, Combat Mechanics, and More

A new gameplay overview trailer for Scars Above, an upcoming sci-fi third-person shooter, was recently published. In it, we get a glimpse at the game’s crafting system and combat mechanics.

The trailer does show you how to take down certain monsters with the help of tools you craft and a bit of quick thinking.

Scars Above is a challenging sci-fi third-person action adventure shooter combining the rewarding feel of overcoming difficulty with a compelling and intricate story, set in a mysterious alien world to explore.

We learn a bit about the game’s overall synopsis via what seems to be an in-game cutscene, which involves the main character being transported into an unfamiliar world after making contact with aliens.

The crafting system in Scars Above involves the player scanning the environment for plants and lifeforms, understanding their elements, and using that knowledge to your advantage. You’ll be able to unlock crafting recipes for weapons and components that you can use to freeze, burn, and slice enemies depending on what you craft. You’ll also need to learn how to take down different enemies and monsters, as they have their own weaknesses you’ll learn to exploit as you play the game.

Scars Above launches this February 28 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Wild Hearts CG Trailer Slashes Out, Showcases Karakuri Technology

A new CG trailer for upcoming monster-hunting game Wild Hearts just dropped ahead of the title’s February 16 launch date. The trailer highlights karakuri, an ancient technology used to hunt down the ferocious kemono.

While the trailer doesn’t show off any sort of gameplay, it does give players an idea of how fights may look in-game:

Here’s the official description of Wild Hearts from the video:

Kemono are giant beasts that have fused with their environment, as beautiful and as deadly as nature itself. For as long as the village of Minato has existed, our people have lived in fear of them: In dense forests they are ferocious as wildfire, and on the grasslands they are unstoppable as an incoming tide. Only through mastery of a mysterious ancient technology are we able to fight back.

WILD HEARTS is a unique twist on the hunting genre where ancient technology gives you a fighting chance against fearsome beasts infused with the ferocious power of nature itself. Take on these creatures alone or hunt with friends in seamless co-op.

Developed by Omega Force, the Japanese studio behind the DYNASTY WARRIORS franchise and in partnership with EA Originals, WILD HEARTS takes you on an epic adventure set in a fantasy world inspired by feudal Japan.

Using karakuri, players will be able to traverse around areas quickly, glide down ledges, and perform jumping attacks, which should add a neat little twist to the game.

Wild Hearts will launch next week on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Rainbow Six Siege Y8S1 Stream on Feb. 18 Promises to Reveal “Something Big” for Console Players

Along with the new Year 8 Season 1 (Y8S1) content, Ubisoft has promised “something big” for console players to be revealed during the Rainbow Six Siege Y8S1 stream on February 18, 2023. Based off a teaser that features a danger sign next to a computer mouse icon, Rainbow Six Siege may finally be addressing keyboard-and-mouse (KBM) dominance in the console version of the game.

While Rainbow Six Siege does not feature crossplay between the PC and console versions of the game, a number of players have been using input translation tools such as the infamous XIM adapter to play the PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game with KBM controls. This results in what many perceive as an unfair advantage in the FPS combat of the game, but such exploits have remained unaddressed until today.

Two years ago, Ubisoft claimed that it could not “do anything about mouse and keyboard on console,” but that will seemingly be changing with the release of Rainbow Six Siege Y8S1. The developer will be revealing more details about the new measures it is taking against KBM dominance on console in the full Y8S1 update stream on February 18, 2023 at 2:30PM ET/11:30AM PT/8:30PM CET/3:30AM HKT (February 19), along with the roadmap and content details of the new “Operation Commanding Force.”

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and the now-defunct Google Stadia cloud gaming service. Stay tuned here at MP1st for our coverage of the Y8S1 update stream next week, which you will be able to watch on the Ubisoft YouTube or Rainbow Six Twitch channels.

PUBG Update 22.1 Patch Notes Revealed

PUBG Corp has revealed the full patch notes for PUBG update 22.1 today. This update comes with polar bears, new items and more. This update will be released later this month for both PC and consoles. You can check out the full patch notes below.

PUBG Update 22.1 Patch Notes:

< Dev’s Comment >

Deston is returning to Random Map regions this update! For every rotation, we try our best to base each of our decisions on map popularity rates, dodge rates, surveys, etc., but we’ve been receiving feedback that the extraction of certain maps from the random map pool was upsetting several players who enjoyed playing maps that were excluded from a rotation. Therefore, we’ve decided to implement your feedback by placing Deston back to the random map pool and taking Taego out for a bit.

Also, we can’t say much now, but we are planning a change to the map rotation system based on all your feedback sometime this year. With this update, every player from every region will be able to meet various maps at a faster pace. Until then, enjoy the return of Deston and Karakin this update!

※ PLEASE NOTE THE FEATURES AND UPDATES INTRODUCED BELOW MAY BE MODIFIED OR EVEN POSSIBLY REMOVED DUE TO REASONS SUCH AS BUGS, IN-GAME ISSUES, AND/OR COMMUNITY FEEDBACK. ALSO, IMAGES USED BELOW ARE PROVIDED AS VISUAL GUIDELINES – FEATURES MAY TURN OUT LOOKING DIFFERENT IN THE ACTUAL GAME AS BUILDS ARE CONTINUOUSLY DEVELOPED AND FIXED BEFORE THEY GO LIVE.

VIKENDI

NEW CREATURE: BEAR

The lumbering pack of malice has awoken from hibernation and is ready to blow up bloody winds on the Battlegrounds. Introducing a new creature available only in Vikendi: the BEAR.

These Bears may look soft to the touch, but they’ll never be your friendly neighborhood pets so make sure to flee or fight back if you wish to keep all your body parts intact!

  • Bears can be killed.
  • Bears will begin to attack if you are within a certain range.
  • Bear warning signs have been added throughout the map.
  • Bear kill/damage stats will not reflect on your Profile Overview, Stats, Match History, Mastery, and End of Match screen.
  • Available modes
    • Bears reside in Vikendi only.
    • Normal Matches, Custom Matches

THE RETURN OF MOONLIGHT

As the sun sets on the frost-laced lands, a beautiful aurora blooms within the serene darkness.

The weather everyone’s been waiting for – MOONLIGHT mode – has returned this update.

  • Moonlight weather will appear randomly in matches.
  • Available modes
    • Only available in Vikendi.
    • Normal Matches, Custom Matches

NEW SCOPE: THERMAL 4X SCOPE

Would you perhaps remember LABS: Thermal Scope Mode, where you had to fight in darkness using only infrared rays? Well we’ve collected your opinions based on our previous experimental mode and decided to add the popular feature to the snowy grounds: detect snooping players with the new THERMAL 4X SCOPE! (Shouldn’t it be your best friend in Moonlight weather?)

  • The Thermal Scope utilizes heat signatures to help you detect obscured enemies more easily.
    • This includes enemies hiding in smoke, darkness, brush, etc.
  • The Thermal Scope is a world spawn item.
  • Available modes
    • Only available in Vikendi.
    • Training Mode, Normal Matches, Custom Matches
      • (PC) Available on every map through Sandbox Mode.

ADDITIONAL UPDATES

  • Supply Drops have been added to Vikendi caves.
  • To make the recently added natural disasters a bit more realistic, smoke and flame from throwables such as Smoke Grenades, Molotov, etc. will no longer work properly within the Blizzard Zone.
    • Players who are caught on fire will also not receive damage within the Blizzard Zone.
      • However, you will still receive initial damage when your body is hit with the Molotov.
  • We’ve noticed the friendly Folded Shields seemed a bit too hidden in the snow. We’re digging them out by increasing their spawn rate by approximately 172%.
  • Item spawn spots have been increased in Train Station, Villa, Castle, and Winery to further richen looting experience in various parts of Vikendi.

KARAKIN

  • Adjusted footstep and weapon sounds of the surface/underground so they sound more distinct from each other.

GAMEPLAY

  • Weapon Balance
    • We’ll be balancing the Mk12 a bit this update. Our graphs on weapon loot rate, kill rate, etc. were showing us Mk12’s overperformance over its other DMR fellows. Therefore, we’ve decided to go ahead with some healthy balance changes and made sure to adjust the Mk12 so that it’ll still remain a helpful, hard-hitting weapon but not outshining other options too much.
      • Damage: 51 -> 50
      • Initial Bullet Speed: 930m/s -> 900m/s
      • Recoil recovery: Reduced by approximately 6%.
      • Recoil speed: Increased by approximately 2%.
  • Weapon spawn balance
    • We have adjusted the general spawn rates of 5.56mm and 7.62mm weapons (AR, DMR, LMG only) to have them share similar spawn rates, and to provide more primary weapon options to our players.
      • This spawn balance applies to every map and mode.
  • Vehicle adjustments
    • Zima has been slightly sized up.
    • Vehicle models with open roofs such as the UAZ, Mirado, and Pickup Truck have been removed as they made drivers/passengers a bit too vulnerable.
    • Dacia and UAZ will now spawn in Taego.
    • Trunks have been added to Pickup Trucks and UAZ.
      • Capacity: 250
  • An option to hide your in-game vest and belt has been added to settings.
    • Inventory shortcut (Show/hide Vest/Belt) UI only available in PC.

< Dev’s Comment >

We’d like to add a few extra words about the removal of UAZ, Mirado, and Pickup Truck’s roof-less models. As we have released and balanced many of our existing vehicles, we’ve noticed specific vehicle models and types needed some tidying up. So we’ve decided to stick to a single model only for the UAZ, Mirado, and Pickup Truck and keep their roofs on for better cover.

KNOWN ISSUE

  • (Console) We are looking into the issue where the sounds of vehicles and certain weapons do not play on the Xbox platform. Sound optimizations are ongoing and will be reflected in Update 22.1 and 22.2.

Metroid Prime Remastered Announced and Available Starting Today, With Physical Version Launching Feb. 22

It looks like Xbox isn’t the only game company looking to do shadow drops this 2023. Metroid Prime, the beloved sci-fi shooter from 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube, is getting remastered, and what’s more, players can download the digital version of Metroid Prime Remastered later today.

The announcement was made during the recent Nintendo Direct, and alongside the digital shadow drop, a physical version of the remaster will also be available starting February 22. You can check out the trailer for the remaster here:

The trailer goes on to showcase some gameplay of the remaster, showing off elements and features from the original game, such as the visors and lock-on feature.

Because the remaster is made for the Nintendo Switch, it’ll also introduce new dual-stick controls which should feel more intuitive and familiar to new players. Don’t worry, though, as you can choose different control styles, too, so you can recreate the original feel and movement from the GameCube if you prefer that instead.

The Metroid Prime remaster launches digitally later today, but if you’re a diehard Metroid fan and want to get the physical version of the remaster, you’re going to have to wait a couple of weeks.

New Pikmin 4 Trailer Hops Out, Is Set for July 21 Launch

Pikmin, the puzzle video game series that started way back in 2001, is getting its fourth installment, and it’s set to release later this July. Pikmin 4 was re-announced during Nintendo Direct after the initial announcement back in September of last year.

We didn’t have an exact release date at the time, but this new Pikmin 4 trailer reveals that the game is set to launch on July 21.

Chart a mysterious planet with curious plantlike Pikmin that come in different types in Pikmin 4—like the brand-new Ice Pikmin! The capable canine, Oatchi, will also help to overcome big challenges.

The trailer shows off Pikmin 4’s whimsical and silly gameplay, with tiny, adorable Pikmin waddling around the screen. This time around, players will get to try out a new Ice Pikmin, and the dog-like creature Oatchi is seen assisting the Pikmin. We’ll have to wait and see exactly what you can actually do with this canine creature, but based on the trailer footage, it seems that you can mount it, order it to break obstacles, and even drag objects around.

Pikmin 4 will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on July 21 this year.

Sony Teasing a Forecast of “Blizzard at Midgard” at Super Bowl LVII This Sunday

It looks like Sony’s PlayStation division (otherwise known as Sony Interactive Entertainment or SIE) is planning to unveil something at this Sunday’s big Super Bowl Sunday game (Super Bowl LVII).

The official PlayStation Canada Instagram and Facebook pages posted the image of Thor’s hammer in God of War Ragnarok alongside a caption of “Forecast calls for a blizzard on 2.12.23 (February 12, 2023):

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by PlayStation Canada (@playstationca)

In addition to that, Sony PlayStation PR sent a message as well about the incoming announcement:

PlayStation invited fans to keep their eyes peeled on its social channels for more surprises and celebrations of fan favourite PS5 games. Today, Odin’s ravens spotted a new teaser on PlayStation Canada’s Instagram and Facebook channels, forecasting a blizzard on Midgard this Sunday night. To see how it all plays out, make sure you tune in to the big game this weekend!

Could this be an announcement or a trailer for a new game? Perhaps a new PlayStation Showcase? Most likely not. Given the press release tied this to the “Live From PS5” marketing push that was kicked off on Jan. 30, this could just be a new trailer connected to it. Mind, Sony is no stranger to pushing out PlayStation promo spots in Super Bowl matches, as the company released a God of War Ascension “From the Ashes” Super Bowl commercial back in 2013.

Whatever this announcement is, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Super Bowl LVII will see the Kansas City Chiefs go up against the Philadelphia Ealges this February 12, Sunday at 6:30 pm ET.

Battlefield 2042 Season 4 New Specialist Camila Blasco Surfaces Alongside New SMG, LMG and More

It looks like a new specialist is incoming to Battlefield 2042 Season 4! Reportedly titled “Eleventh Hour,” the new season will also introduce new guns, a new map (which is said to be called “Flashpoint”) and more.

This info comes from reliable Battlefield 2042 dataminer temporyal, who managed to get the name of the incoming specialist as Camila Blasco, and will fall under the Recon class.

As you can see from the image, the new specialist’s ability includes a device that prevents a player to be spotted, and for any lock-ons a well.

In addition to that, there’s a new SMG incoming and anew LMG on the way, too!

In addition to those new weapons, a few unreleased Vault Weapons were spotted as well, which suggests these would be part of the Season 4 content rollout, given that’s what happened with update 3.2 and the leak for Vault Weapons back then.

Same as always, none of the info here is official, so treat it with a grain of salt. That said, temporyal has been very spot-on with his leaks and datamined info, and we wouldn’t be surprised one bit if the info released here are legit as well.

There’s no official date yet for Season 4’s rollout, nor have there been any info about it released. But once we know more, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

Apex Legends Remastered Legend Classes, Perks, Meta Updates & More Detailed

Ahead of the launch of Season 16 on February 14, Respawn Entertainment has detailed Apex Legends‘ remastered Legend classes, perks and meta updates along with the fourth anniversary season’s new content, including Team Deathmatch, the new “Nemesis” rifle, bot matches, and more. Read on for the full details of Apex Legends’ reworked classes and all the new content coming to the game with Season 16 “Revelry.”

Apex Legends Remastered Legend Classes, Perks, Meta Updates & New Season 16 Content:

Remastered Legend Classes:

Rather than adding a new Legend this season, we’re revamping the Legend Classes—bringing a new element to the Legends you know.

The Legend Class system divides our Legends into 5 classes. Each class reflects a core playstyle that encourages similar patterns of engagement on the battlefield. We also wanted to give every Class its own strategic gameplay ability. Each of our current and future Legends now have a meaningful role benefitting the team they’re on.

Choose Your Legend:

Apex Legends Remastered Classes

In Revelry, Legends have been reorganized on the Legends Screen according to their Class. You’ll be able to see their associated Class perk on top of that Legend’s unique abilities.

This reorganization will help players identify Legends that play or support the team in a similar manner, and help them understand the new roles easier. The Legend Select screen has also been improved alongside this change.

Apex Legends New Legend Select Screen

Class Perks:

Every Legend Class also now has an associated gameplay perk that grants the Legends of that class access to new strategic options in the game.

At casual levels of play, these new gameplay benefits will be fun new bonuses to engage with and empower decision making.

At higher levels of play, a squad make-up now determines what gameplay elements the team will have access to, and what they’re leaving behind.

Legend Class Breakdown:

  • Assault – Combat Utility & Initiation:

Assault Legends are mobile armories, armed to the teeth and ready for battle. Their core patterns revolve around using their abilities to force opponents to make combat decisions that play to their advantage, opening them up for an assault.

Assault Legends are always prepared for a fight, able to gear up quickly from the hidden compartments of Weapon Supply Bins, and stock more ammunition than other Legends. Which gives them extra space for other items—often grenades.

Legends:

  • Bangalore, Ash, Fuse, Mad Maggie, Revenant

Perk:

  • Access the Secret Compartment of Weapon Supply Bins
    • Contains 4 “smart loot” attachments for you or your team’s current loadout
    • One loot slot is reserved for optics
    • Chances for a magazine & hop ups are lower than for other gear
    • If the secret compartment is opened while no one on your team has a weapon, a weapon will drop with 2 attachments for it
    • Min Tier for all attachments is RARE

apex legends assault class perks

  • Carry more ammo per ammo stack
    • Light, Heavy and Energy ammo can stack one extra
    • Shotgun & Sniper Ammo has a reduced extra stack

apex legends assault class perks

  • Skirmisher – Combat Mobility & Escape:

Skirmishers can move in or get out of tight situations more quickly than other Legends. They are often the first into a fight or are the ones creating rotation options for their team. With this perk, Skirmishers can gain early insight into the contents of a Care Package, to ascertain its worth and make a play for it quickly if desired.

Legends:

  • Wraith, Valkyrie, Octane, Horizon, Mirage, Pathfinder

Perk:

  • Can spot incoming Care Packages to see the highest value contents in them
    • Care Packages are revealed by looking at them for a few seconds
      • They can be spotted in the air as they fall OR
      • At their landing location, if within range
    • Can also see when the item has been taken by another team (turns grey)
    • Can ping map icons or in-world icons for team

Getting line of sight on a falling package, or rotating quickly into range of the landing area will help them snag the info early.

Additionally, they can see when/what high value weaponry has been snagged by others.

  • Recon – Enemy Intel & Tracking:

Recon Legends are all about scouting, and gathering enemy intel about their enemies to give their team the tactical advantage. These Modified Survey Beacons lean into their enemy-scouting role, revealing a snapshot of all enemy positions (similar to Crypto’s prior Town Takeover). With this intel, Recon players can plot rotations for their team either to avoid heavy enemy presence, or to move in to ambush an isolated squad. There is risk to this knowledge however, as enemies nearby will be alerted to the beacon’s use and will know they have been tracked. Others far outside of the large range are still revealed, but will receive no update.

Legends:

  • Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer, Vantage

Perk:

  • Can Use Modified Survey Beacons
    • Reveal all enemy positions on the Map/Mini-Map for 30s
    • Enemies in pulse range are alerted to beacon use

apex legends modified survey beacons

apex legends recon class perks

  • Controller – Area Setup & Control:

Controller Legends place elements on the field to trap or fortify their position. They want enemies to fight them on their turf and excel at holding strong positions in the ring. Shifting circle knowledge to these Ring Consoles, allows the Legends who care most about setup to be responsible for knowing where they want to bunker down next. Unlike Survey Beacons, which are often located higher up, these new consoles can be found on more grounded areas in plazas and courtyards across the map.

Legends:

  • Caustic, Wattson, Rampart, Catalyst

Perk:

  • Use Ring Consoles to find the next Ring Location

apex legends ring consoles

apex legends controller class perks

  • Support – Team Survival & Supply:

Support Legends have a more team-oriented focus. They look for opportunities to protect, recover, or resupply their allies. In the new Class System, the Support role has been expanded and allows these Legends to stock their team and keep them alive. As visible locations on the map, Blue Bins will provide key rotation options when in need of meds or Survival items. Additionally, Support Legends can now recover Ally Banners from Crafting Stations, even if the banner has expired, giving new options to get the team back into the game.

Legends:

  • Lifeline, Loba, Gibraltar, Newcastle

Perk:

  • Craft ally banners (even if expired)
    • Current Cost = 30 Crafting Materials
    • Banner can be recovered from the Crafter once crafting is complete
    • A crafted Banner will contain all recoverable teammate

apex legends support ally banners

apex legends support class perks

  • Access Secret Compartments on Blue Bins
    • Compartment has increased chance for large health kits (Shield Batteries and Med Kits)
      • Compartments has unique Survival Item logic
      • Increased % of Heat Shields when outside the ring
      • Increased % of Mobile Respawn Beacon if carrying a teammate banner.
      • This logic has an internal limit (cannot be repeated) and will not trigger if already carrying the item.

We will continue to build on these classes in the future. Legends develop and change constantly, so expect modifications and tweaks in the future—Legends can even change classes entirely should the need arise. We’re excited to see the new Legend Classes go live so we can evaluate live community feedback and internal data!

Meta Updates:

Season 16 will also bring a host of rework and balance changes for a number of Legends, which we at MP1st learned the details of at an invite-only event:

Seer:
  • Reducing the frequency of the ultimate
  • Hit the cooldown and duration
  • Changing how free the information coming from the heartbeat sensor is
  • No longer able to spam its activation
  • Only gain info on the heartbeat pulses itself
  • Heartbeat sensor is now audible to enemies

Bloodhound:

Ultimate no longer refreshes, or speeds up tactical charge. Instead find white ravens throughout the environment when interacted with or scanned will fly in the direction to the closest enemy to guide you and your team to battle.

Wraith:

Buff – Will be able to place portal twice as far as before and will speed up as she travels with her ultimate to this new extended range.

Pathfinder:

Buff – Zipline range and riding speed have been increased

Horizon:

  • Accuracy in her gravity lift has been reduced
  • Nudged up lift speed

Mirage:

Buff – After reviving, he and his ally will remain clocked for 3 seconds but you are unarmed. As soon as you pull out your weapon, the cloak goes away.

Change to Bamboozle; When a clone is shot, the enemy is going to be tracked by Mirage’s icon.

Lifeline:

Buff – Greatly reduced the slow penalty of when activating her revive. Increased the drop speed and range of her care package.

Team Deathmatch:

Ever since we’ve released Control we’ve seen players gravitate towards it for different reasons. The common reason was that players wanted a place to warm up for BR. Lots of players just jumping in to get hands warm and a quick aim practice. We’re  bringing a fast respawn mode into Apex to help service an audience of players who want to jump in fast and get to the meat of Apex gunplay in a more casual way with Team Deathmatch.

Previously Arenas was Apex’s ”fast” mode. Something we’ve seen and tested over its lifetime was that it’s a somewhat daunting mode to approach. Arenas feels high stakes and you need to prepare and get ready for a sweaty match. While Apex is a Battle Royale focused game, which falls under a similar “sweaty” category, we saw Control provide a place for players to feel comfortable making mistakes, dying fast, and enjoying Apex in a much more relaxed way. One of TDM’s goals is to provide a low stakes environment where you can experience a fast paced version of Apex combat. We’re looking to highlight Apex gunplay and skirmishes while removing some tension of having a single life.

apex legends team deathmatch

Here’s a quick breakdown of the how the mode works:

  • 6v6 Alliances
  • Pick your loadout on spawn
  • You can swap your loadout or legend while respawning
  • Shields regen automatically (We’ll be looking to update this very soon!)
  • 30 kills to win a round
  • First alliance to win 2 rounds wins the match
  • Swap loadouts in between rounds
  • Collect airdrops mid-round for stronger weapons

apex legends team deathmatch details season 16

We’re predicting that a lot of players will use TDM as a place to warm-up for Battle Royale as we’ve seen people already do with Control. We’re aiming to see players have an avenue to practice certain guns they don’t normally get much live fire training with. And we’d like newer players to have a place to overcome some of the initial hurdles of approaching Apex’s combat.

With that said we still want TDM to be able to hold its own as a mode. Apex players should be able to play TDM as its own activity and have fun. As a result our TDM format looks a little more robust in terms of rules. Players looking for a place to fine-tune and hone their skills in a more regimented manner can expect some upcoming updates in other areas soon!

Consider this as our first drop for TDM. It’s been a long time coming for Apex and there are so many things we can experiment and play around with in this environment. We already have some tweaks and different mode ideas to shake up TDM and we are looking to keep it fresh for seasons to come.

Mixtape:

Another sentiment we’ve frequently heard from players is that they want certain LTMs to stick around permanently. There has always been a dichotomy between the initial reaction to big modes like Control or Gun Run and how they perform long term. Unsurprisingly, modes (especially brand new ones) see a high spike in play rate on launch and then trend downwards—some much more than others. In particular we’ve seen both Control and Gun Run have a really high play share compared to other LTMs and modes we’ve done in the past. However, they both still suffer from the same drop-off.

It’s important to us that if we decide to keep something around long term that it’s being supported in the right way. The game is changing all the time so there’s a lot of maintenance to things even if nothing is inherently different about the mode from patch to patch. Updated weapons, Legends, and game systems can break things in modes we’ve done in the past. A recent example is in Winter Express, Newcastle and Catalyst are new to that mode so there was a decent amount of work to make sure their abilities functioned properly on a moving train. Basically this is a long-winded way to say that if we’re deciding to keep something around long-term we want to make sure people are playing and enjoying it and that we can justify resources for it.

With that said we feel confident about Control and Gun Run and are bringing them back as permanently available modes in a rotating playlist of modes we’re calling Mixtape—a little nod to Titanfall 2 for those who are a fan of it! It’ll work similarly to how maps rotate in Battle Royale: every 15 minutes the Mixtape playlist will rotate through a curated list of modes and maps to play. Only TDM will be available during the season’s launch for the first three weeks, and then Mixtape will launch following that with TDM, Control, and Gun Run in its rotation.

Going forward, we haven’t established any hard rules for what goes into Mixtape. If it’s something that we think people will enjoy, we might throw it in there. This could go for any mode including past LTMs and modes—assuming it makes sense on our side.

Expect us to follow a similar-ish model to this where we’ll spotlight new modes and potentially loop them into Mixtape as we see fit. Hopefully this helps players feel like they have a wide variety of things to play and feel compelled to keep up with these modes long-term. This also gives us an avenue to debut new things and decide what’s the best way to support them going forward.

With all that said, we’re still working on a bunch of LTMs. Some of these are aimed at Battle Royale and some aimed at TDM variants—any of which we might loop into Mixtape if we think it’s worth it. Stay tuned because this is just the start for what’s to come!

And to celebrate the launch of Apex Legends newest mode, we’ve teamed up with Twitch Rivals to host the Apex Legends TDM Drop In. Tune into https://www.twitch.tv/twitchrivals at 3pm PT on Friday, February 17th to see some of the biggest streamers on Twitch battle it out for their share of $200K.

The Nemesis:

Meet the Nemesis, a new energy class assault rifle that fires four rounds per burst. With a ramping burst delay that decreases the time between bursts and simulates a fully automatic weapon, the Nemesis is guaranteed to ruin the day of at least one Legend next match.

Orientation Matches:

New to the Outlands? Try the new Orientation Match system, meant to create an easy introduction where new players can get their bearings and learn the core mechanics of Apex Legends. Play solo or bring your friends to take out some bots before joining the regular matchmaking queue. Every Legend was level 1 once: drop in and start learning to be legendary!

We’ll have even more to talk about in the future and are excited for players to get to play with The Nemesis, Team Deathmatch, and more when Revelry launches on February 14.

Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation Exclusive Content Can Be Accessed on PC and Here’s How

In case you didn’t know, Sony’s deal with WB Games regarding Hogwarts Legacy meant that the PS5 and upcoming PS4 versions of the game will have content exclusive to the platform (at least for 12 months). It seems the Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation exclusive content is in the data files of the PC version as well, and someone has found a way to access it.

Reddit user enaske found the method, though you’ll need a hex editor to be able to pull it off. The content is the “Haunted Hogsmeade Shop” quest, which we’ve posted a guide on how to start (for those on PlayStation platforms).

Per Reddit user Adonwen:

Parsing the comments from the OP, you edit the save files with a hex editor. The save file with certain hex edits unlocks the content that was latently present in the full game.

For those not familiar with what the Haunted Hogsmeade quest, it’ll give players access to an additional dungeon, the Shopkeeper’s cosmetic set, and an in-game store in Hogsmeade. The exclusive mission tied to it will automatically appear in Hogsmeade as you progress in the main mission.

Will Avalanche patch this bug/exploit out? We really can’t say, so if you know your way around it, best to give this a try until it’s patched out. If you don’t want to do this, the PlayStation-exclusive content should be available to Xbox and PC players after a year.

If you still haven’t picked up the game, go read our review where it snagged a perfect 10/10 score! In it, we state, “I’ve dreamt about an open-world Harry Potter game that has everything you’d expect out of a Harry Potter game, and Avalanche has finally delivered on that dream. The attention to detail that has gone into this game, the love and care, and the pure dedication of the team. It all goes unnoticed.”

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 Roadmap and New Content Revealed

A week ahead of release, the full Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 roadmap has now been revealed by Infinity Ward. Season 2 will finally bring Ranked Play to Modern Warfare 2, the new “Ashika Island” Warzone 2 Resurgence and DMZ map and much more when it goes live on February 15. Read on for the full details of the Season 2 content roadmap for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.

Call of Duty Warzone 2 Season 2 Roadmap and New Content Overview:

Overview:

  • Resurgence Mode Returns with New Warzone Map. Ashika Island welcomes all warriors willing to fight for honor and glory, as well as those who have a trained eye for secrets hidden in plain sight.
  • New Contract, Public Event, and More. Hijack a stolen vehicle from Shadow Company forces, hack into uplink stations, and attempt to discover all the secrets that this island may hold…
  • DMZ Expands to Ashika Island. The power struggle continues across a new Exclusion Zone with plenty of new threats to face and a clean slate for all Operators, who will have the opportunity to earn new permanent reward and Contraband.

Welcome to Ashika Island:

Warzone 2 Ashika Island Resurgence Map

Resurgence gets a new front: a compact, Japanese-themed map called Ashika Island, which is roughly 30% larger than previous small maps.

Developed by High Moon Studios, Ashika Island is a centuries-old village currently under siege by Shadow Company forces. After dropping in through the mist, Operators can navigate an ancient shipwreck and ruins, modern apartments and town center, a sprawling beach club, a bustling port, an organic farm, or the fortified castle that looms over the entire island. They may even discover plenty of rooftop pathways or the underground waterway networks that can be used for stealthier maneuvers.

Learn more about Ashika Island in a deep-dive blog here.

Resurgence Mode Returns With New Map:

Warzone 2 Ashika Island Resurgence Map

Ashika Island is the perfect size for Resurgence, a frenetic game mode returning from the original Call of Duty®: Warzone™.

Available for all squad sizes – Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads – within regular Playlist updates throughout the season, Resurgence allows for multiple respawns as long as one squad member is still standing.

In this mode, if a squad member is eliminated while one or more squad members are still alive, a countdown will appear beside their name. When this countdown hits zero, they will redeploy to the DZ. This countdown can be shortened by your squadmates if they perform specific in-game actions such as eliminating enemies, which incentivizes aggressive play. This countdown grows longer with each circle collapse until the final few circles — where all redeploys, save for those bought through a Buy Station — are disabled.

The last squad standing wins no matter how many redeploys they needed to stay in the match, so be prepared for a relentless battle.

New Feature – Restore Honor (Launch, Resurgence):

Warzone 2 Restore Honor

On Ashika Island, it takes incredible courage to return to where you once fell in battle, courage that is worthy of some valuable rewards.

Every Operator on Ashika Island will drop a dog tag upon death once per match (Resurgence or Battle Royale), which can either be picked up by a squadmate or themselves after redeploying. Doing so grants a small Cash reward, as well as a single UAV ping that marks both enemy threats and nearby Supply Boxes.

Whether it is finding out who downed a squadmate or getting a head start on rebuilding a Loadout, choosing to Restore Honor is a solid strategy for continued survival.

New Contract – Search and Seizure (In-Season, Resurgence):

Warzone 2 Search and Seizure

In addition to contracts originally in Battle Royale modes like Safecracker and Bounty, Ashika Island will have an additional contract — Search and Seizure — to take up for Cash and other in-match rewards. It is expected to go live in-season.

Search and Seizure involves reclaiming a stolen vehicle — either an SUV or a Patrol Boat — from Shadow Company forces somewhere on the island. After you accept the contract, the vehicle’s approximate location is revealed on the minimap and as a marker in the overworld.

Operators must neutralize any Shadow Company forces guarding the vehicle, then pick up the key dropped by one of the soldiers and get the vehicle safely to its designated drop-off point. Expect heavy resistance en route to this destination, as the Shadow Company has been rumored to have their hands on some powerful hardware, ready to repel Operators venturing onto the isle…

New Public Event – Data Heist (In-Season, Resurgence):

Warzone 2 Public Event Data Heist

Intel is power, especially during a Data Heist, a new exclusive Public Event on Ashika Island.

During the second circle collapse, three uplink stations will come online around the map, allowing players to download critical intel from them. In exchange for valuable in-match rewards, squads can hack into and stand near the uplink station to gain this intel, but they will face resistance from Shadow Company combatants guarding these precious machines.

Download progress can be sped up by eliminating these combatants, while other Operators can halt progress through contesting the station area directly or using a DDOS Field Upgrade.

Successfully completing a download rewards XP, Cash, and a random piece of Tactical Equipment. Squads that visit two or three uplink stations and successfully download their intel will receive increased rewards, such as a random Killstreak or even an Advanced UAV.

Additional New Features:

Season 02 will include several notable changes to Warzone 2.0, including an updated Gulag that will host 1v1 duels, changes to armor plate vests and backpacks in Battle Royale, customizable Perk Packages in Loadouts, and more.

You can read more about these updates in Infinity Ward’s Blog here.

In addition to these updates, a few new and returning features are also coming to the game:

Redeploy Drones (In-Season, Resurgence):

Warzone 2 Redeploy Drones

Redeploy Drones, the high-tech successor to the Redeploy Balloons you first used on Caldera, are the high-risk, high-reward way to reposition around Ashika Island, to be deployed during Season 02.

To use a Redeploy Drone, simply hook a cable up to the drone via interaction. After ascending to where the drone is hovering in the sky, an Operator will be launched in the direction they are facing, allowing them to parachute down safely to a distant location. While ascending, Operators can rotate around the cable to best position themselves for launch, and they can hip-fire weapons and detach at any point.

These new drones have a few differences compared to the Redeploy Balloons: notably, they can relocate to a safe area after a short period if they are within the circle collapse. Only a certain number of drones will reposition with each circle collapse, with all drones going out of commission after several circle collapses have occurred.

On the downside, their high-tech nature makes them easy targets for lock-on missiles, and they are too expensive for an Operator to replace. Instead, new drones will fly in after a short time if there is an available safe location to hover over.

New Combatant – Rusher (In-Season, Resurgence):

Warzone 2 Rusher

So far, AI Combatants are all about dealing damage from a distance, unless otherwise provoked to swing wildly with the butt of their gun. During Season 02, a new type of Combatant joins their ranks to fulfill that extreme close-quarters combat (CQB) role: the Rusher.

The Rusher may not have much in terms of health or armor, but what they lack in defense they make up for in increased agility and a deadly short sword. This adversary also packs a pistol in case a target is unreachable for a melee attack, as well as mini smoke bombs to use for repositioning.

Rushers are meant to be downed just as quickly as they sprint, especially in confined and indoor spaces where they are most effective. Expect them to hit the ground running in Resurgence mode, with AI only appearing under certain conditions such as during a Data Heist.

Discover the Secrets of Ashika Island:

Like previous smaller-sized Warzone maps, Ashika Island has its own secrets for Operators to uncover. Use all of your senses and be curious during Resurgence matches, and you may just stumble upon some Legendary Supply Boxes or other items that can help you toward victory.

DMZ Expansion to Ashika Island, New Crown Faction:

Warzone 2 DMZ Ashika Island

From the first missions of Al Mazrah to the uncovering of Building 21, the new DMZ experience has significantly evolved thanks to a growing community committed to building up that Contraband stash and reading every last bit of intel gathered.

In Season 02, Operators will begin their journey again with a new Exclusion Zone to infiltrate: Ashika Island.

As mentioned in Infinity Ward’s blog, Season 02 will see DMZ experience its first reset, allowing all Operators to start with a clean slate while keeping all permanent content they earned in Season 01, along with their Insured Weapon Slots.

Warzone 2 Crown Faction

Following the reset, a new faction known as Crown, available to Modern Warfare II owners, will add additional intrigue alongside a refresh of familiar missions and their rewards, granting Operators new permanent unlocks like Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints as well as Contraband.

Operators will be able to complete missions either back in Al Mazrah, within Building 21 if they have keycard access, or by infiltrating Ashika Island. This new map will be central to the experience’s continued narrative, and other new features like Boss Hideouts to test even the most seasoned Operators.

New Boss – Bombmaker – and Weapons Case on Ashika Island:

Warzone 2 Bombmaker

The one who rules over Ashika Island knows how Operators will infiltrate the Exclusion Zone and will be more than prepared to defend his domain by any means necessary.

The Bombmaker’s location is currently unknown, but Operators will be able to find him somewhere on Ashika Island. He holds a new Weapons Case for Season 02, which contains all-new permanent rewards for Operators to flaunt within and outside of DMZ.

Note: Al Mazrah and Building 21’s Weapons Cases will remain the same for Season 02, so be sure to grab those too if you have not extracted all 14 of those rewards.

More information on DMZ, including how to access Building 21, is detailed in Infinity Ward’s blog here.

Points of Interest Updates in Al Mazrah:

Warzone 2 Points of Interest Update

Intel from Al Mazrah indicate that a downed aircraft has been spotted north of Sa’id City, with plumes of thick, black smoke visible from the summit above the Sattiq Caves Complex. Elsewhere, enemy reinforcements have [[REDACTED]], resulting in a subterranean [[REDACTED]] between multiple points of interest in the North. Also, we are confirming reports of [[REDACTED]] being recommissioned, and ready for passengers on the main [[REDACTED]] in the region.

Given the amount of existing reconnaissance in this release, this intel will be declassified as part of a Tactical Overview to be released tomorrow.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Roadmap:

Overview:

  • Prove Your Skills in Ranked Play. Built off previous iterations, Modern Warfare II Ranked Play offers plenty of rewards and bragging rights to those most dedicated to being the best Operator in Multiplayer.
  • Two Core Maps, Two Battle Maps. Battlegrounds in Al Mazrah and Spain will be ready for Multiplayer infiltrations at Season 02 launch.
  • A Half-Dozen Modes. Infected, Gun Game, and Grind to be available at launch. Drop Zone, One in the Chamber, and All or Nothing set to start the party in season. Also, the return of Hardcore.

Get Ready for Ranked Play:

Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play

Those who claim to be the best in Modern Warfare II Multiplayer will have to prove it in Ranked Play, a new Multiplayer experience built in collaboration with Treyarch and the Call of Duty League.

This feature-packed, stand-alone competitive Multiplayer mode uses CDL-approved rules, restrictions, maps, and modes all while rewarding players with exclusive items and visible skill ranks to show off with pride. Work your way up through seven Skill Divisions — from Bronze to Iridescent — all the way to the Top 250, where your name will be displayed on a special Top 250 leaderboard. Earn Skill Division Skins based on your highest rank for that Season, including a set for finishing a Season in the Gold Division or above for the first time, as well as unique rewards given out each season.

As you fight to increase that Skill Rating (SR), you will climb through a set of Ranked Play Ranks (1–50); this does not reset with each season. Every win grants a Star toward this Rank system, and every five Ranks awards a new Operator Skin. Plus, complete Seasonal Win Challenges over the course of each Ranked Play Season and earn even more cosmetic rewards to represent your dedication to this competitive arena.

Stay tuned for a dedicated Ranked Play blog detailing these rewards, the ranking system, and more.

Four Maps for Multiplayer at Launch:

Core Mode and Ground War Operators, get ready to deploy to more locales around Al Mazrah and Spain in Season 02:

Dome (Core Map):

Modern Warfare 2 Dome

Located at the highest point in Al Mazrah, Dome bears a striking resemblance to one of Call of Duty®’s classic maps.

This small- to medium-sized map is built for fast-paced combat with three main buildings surrounding a central street area. One of these is the iconic domed structure, which has a small catwalk that provides incredible views over most of the map’s outdoor spaces.

However, just know that the metal grates on that catwalk can be easily shot through, and sidearms can be used on ladders.

Zaya Observatory (Battle Map):

Modern Warfare 2 Zaya Observatory

Zaya Observatory will be available in Ground War and Invasion modes, where the combat area will be expanded to fit all of Al Mazrah’s tallest natural point of interest.

The Battle Map version encompasses the entire science facility and adjacent cliff sides. Observant operators will find solace along the mountain side flank routes. While a narrow space for vehicles, tanks and other armored vehicles can be used to effectively hold critical choke points. With main thoroughfares cut off, infantry should resort to navigating the facility buildings to bypass any vehicle obstructions. For when you have no other option but to sprint across an exposed road, be sure to keep smokes equipped to deter any rooftop sniper fire.

Those skills learned from Battle Royale, DMZ, and the Special Ops mission Defender: Mt. Zaya more than apply to this Ground War map.

Al Malik International (Battle Map):

Modern Warfare 2 Al Malik International Map

Located at the southern tip of Al Mazrah, this modern airport mixes traditional and modern architecture to host both business and leisure activities, and will be available in Ground War and Invasion Modes.

The Battle Map version of this locale comprises of the tarmac and main airport building, allowing Operators to take hold in all the familiar spaces within the Terminal or take to the roof for more advantageous angles. Meanwhile, those looking for vehicular combat have plenty of runway to use for getting around the Battle Map quickly.

Similar to the Zaya Observatory map, not much is different between this Battle Map and the point of interest within Battle Royale or DMZ, save for the boundaries to keep matches focused within this area. Use those sightlines and other tricks from past experiences, and you will be more than ready for takeoff.

Valderas Museum (Core Map)

The other Core map launching at the start of Season 02 is Valderas Museum, returning since first appearing in the Modern Warfare II Beta.

Infected, Gun Game Headline Returning Modes:

Modern Warfare II Multiplayer is getting a half-dozen modes that veterans of the Call of Duty franchise know as some of the greatest hits over the past two decades. Plus, the return of Hardcore:

Infected (Launch):

Modern Warfare 2 Infected Mode

Ever since Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 3 (2011), this mode is known for being infectious fun.

In Infected, Operators must avoid the chosen Infected player at all costs. Every survivor eliminated joins the Infected team until none remain or until the five-minute time period elapses.

Jump into this game mode with friends or make some of your own in the 18-person lobby… Just don’t get too attached to those who may wind up joining the infected ranks!

Gun Game (Launch):

Modern Warfare 2 Gun Game Mode

One of three party game modes launching in season, Gun Game is a competition of overall gun skill. Every ranged elimination awards a different weapon, while melee eliminations put your opponent one weapon back on the 18-weapon rotation. Show off your prowess with a variety of weapon categories, then finish the job with a Throwing Knife to win.

Grind (Launch):

Modern Warfare 2 Grind Mode

The third mode whose roots trace back to Modern Warfare 3, Grind is Kill Confirmed with an added twist: enemy dog tags are stackable and must be banked at one of two fixed locations.

Bank multiple dog tags at once to maximize point gains, but be sure to stay alive to avoid giving the enemy a ton of tags!

Hardcore (Launch):

Modern Warfare 2 Hardcore Mode

As previously announced, the Hardcore playlist will return in place of the Tier 1 playlist at the start of Season 02.

The initial Hardcore playlist will feature a mix of traditional modes with the classic ruleset veterans of the franchise are familiar with, including decreased health that cannot be replenished outside of Stim shots, as well as a limited HUD.

Whether you appreciate a more realistic FPS experience or want a place to hit those Longshots for Platinum Camos, head into Hardcore and be sure to watch your six.

Drop Zone (In-Season):

Modern Warfare 2 Drop Zone Mode

Care Package lovers, look no further.

Drop Zone is another classic mode that debuted in Modern Warfare 3. A derivative of Hardpoint, Drop Zone sends a Care Package down into occupied Drop Zone areas every 15 seconds.

Perfect for those wanting to ramp up their Killstreak elimination numbers or who just love pure chaos, expect this to be among the modes available in weekly Playlist rotations at launch.

All or Nothing (In-Season):

With only Throwing Knives and a pistol with no ammo, can you rack up 20 eliminations to win this special Free-for-All party game mode? Every Operator get additional Perks starting with Scavenger, which allows for ammo pickups after the first elimination. Like other party game modes, feel free to bring the squad in or make new “friends” in the lobby.

One in the Chamber (In-Season):

As the name implies, every Operator gets a handgun with one bullet in the chamber for this Free-for-All variant. Every elimination awards an additional bullet, and Operators only have three respawns. Ensure your aim is true and practice good trigger discipline; the Operator with the most eliminations wins.

Raid Episode 2 Coming Mid-Season:

Modern Warfare 2 Raid Episode 2

Atomgrad was just the beginning.

Price, Farah, and Gaz will be back later in Season 02 with Episode 2 of the Raid, a continuation of the Modern Warfare II Campaign.

Prepare to squad up for whatever gauntlet lies ahead — even if it means finding unlikely allies to help tie up those loose ends.

General Overview:

  • Path of the Ronin Season Challenges. Complete challenges in Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare II to earn rewards, including a new functional weapon.
  • Ronin Returns with an Arsenal. Vanquish your opponents like a true warrior with this new Operator and five new weapons during the Season, three of which are available for free in the Battle Pass.
  • New Personal Watercraft Vehicle. Engage in fast-paced aquatic combat utilizing the new aquatic vehicle.

Walk the Path of the Ronin – Launch Event:

Modern Warfare 2 path of the ronin

Following the way of the warrior will lead to the spoils of war.

At the beginning of Season 02, the Path of the Ronin  Challenges will present all Operators with seven challenges to be completed in Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare II based on the Seven Virtues of Bushido: Integrity, Respect, Courage, Honor, Compassion, Sincerity, and Loyalty. Each challenge comes with a reward for completion, such as a Gun Screen or a Weapon Charm.

Complete all seven challenges in Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare II and get the new Crossbow functional weapon.

Five New Weapons, Three in Battle Pass:

New armaments and returning favorites highlight the weaponry to be available in Season 02 at launch and in-season. Get three of these new weapons through the Season 02 Battle Pass and the remaining two through seasonal challenges.

ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle – ISO Platform (Launch, Battle Pass):

Modern Warfare 2 iso hemlock assault rilfe

A powerful and enhanced rifle from Expedite Firearms is designed to take both 5.56 and subsonic .300 BLK ammunition, providing battlefield-advantage in any situation.

How to unlock: Free weapon within the Season 02 Battle Pass.

KV Broadside Shotgun – Kastov Platform (Launch, Battle Pass):

Modern Warfare 2 KV broadside shotgun

Bringing the power of the 12 gauge to the Kastov Platform, the KV Broadside is the fastest-firing semi-auto firearm in the shotgun class. Destroys targets at close range with impunity.

How to unlock: Free weapon within the Season 02 Battle Pass.

Dual Kodachis Melee Weapon (Launch):

Modern Warfare 2 dual kodachis

A powerful melee weapon that can quickly move towards a target with a longer-range attack. Each swipe has an impressive range and faster forward motion towards enemies compared to the Knife melee weapon, though this comes at a slight cost, a slower strafe and sprint speed.

How to unlock: Free weapon within the Season 02 Battle Pass.

Crossbow (Marksman Rifle Category) (Launch Window):

Modern Warfare 2 crossbow

Silent and agile, this high-performance crossbow fires 20.0” bolts with exceptional lethality. Exclusive customization, distinct functionality, and unique ammunition types put this weapon in a class of its own. Standard 20.0” bolts are recoverable, and are undetected by trophy systems.

How to unlock: Complete all seven Path of the Ronin Event challenges, or purchase via Store Bundle.

Also expect a new Marksman Rifle – the Tempus Torrent – to be available at midseason, as well as a new lethal equipment piece, the Shuriken.

Remember: each new weapon comes with a brand-new set of camos to unlock for use across all your weapons. Expect well over a dozen new camos to be available to unlock by the end of Season 02.

New Personal Watercraft Vehicle:

Modern Warfare 2 personal watercraft pwc

Complementing the armored Patrol Boat and the midsized RHIB, the Personal Watercraft (PWC) is a nimble seacraft capable of swiftly carrying up to two Operators across any body of water in Ashika Island or Al Mazrah.

Consider the PWC the ATV of the sea: one of the faster ways to get around the map with little protection for its driver and one passenger.

Although it is considerably weak compared to the other available watercrafts, the PWC’s quick speed makes it a hard target to hit.

Ronin Returns at Launch:

A Japanese American who embodies the modern-day warrior, Ronin is the marquee Operator available at the start of Season 02.

Daniel “Ronin” Shinoda (Launch):

Modern Warfare 2 ronin

Returning from Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® (2019), Ronin is the ex-Special Forces fighter known for his mastery of multiple fighting styles and unconventional warfare.

His name comes from the rough translation of “wanderer,” which came about during the feudal era of Japan when a samurai had no master. Forging his own path, Ronin is a known saboteur who can pick apart foreign defense systems and perform special reconnaissance like no other Operator can.

From the ashes of ARMISTICE, Ronin took it upon himself to maintain balance between different factions as their wars spilled over into Urzikstan and Al-Mazrah. Living by a new code of honor, Ronin found a new master he can serve, one that cannot be corrupted: balance, itself.

Sony Combat Pack Available (Launch Window):

Modern Warfare 2 sony combat pack

PlayStation® Plus subscribers already have their own samurai descendent ready to face the trials of Ashika Island. Shortly after the launch of Season 02, Hiro “Oni” Wantanabe will get a new set of gear — the “Oni Pyroclast” Operator Skin — that suits the journey of those willing to take on the Samurai Code.

In addition to this new Operator Skin, PlayStation®Plus subscribers will receive the following in their Season 02 Combat Pack: the “Oni Carver” SMG Blueprint, the “Oni Slasher” Assault Rifle Blueprint, the “Yoroi” Weapon Charm, the “Crimson Oni” Animated Calling Card, the “Golden Dragonfly” Sticker, and the “ Grinning Oni” Emblem.

This Combat Pack will be available on February 22.

Prestige – Level Up to Rank 500:

Modern Warfare 2 prestige ranks

Time to put those Double XP tokens to good use.

At the start of Season 02, the Prestige Rank cap will be increased to Prestige 10, with the level cap increased to 500. Specifically, players can unlock the following new Prestige Ranks, which come with a new icon beside their name:

  • Prestige 6: Unlocked at Level 300
  • Prestige 7: Unlocked at Level 350
  • Prestige 8: Unlocked at Level 400
  • Prestige 9: Unlocked at Level 450
  • Prestige 10: Unlocked at Level 500 – this is the maximum level that can be achieved in Season 02.

Each Prestige Rank also unlocks a new set of Challenges. Complete these to earn new Calling Cards, including Animated Calling Cards for completing full sets of Challenges.

As stated previously, all progress will not reset at the beginning of each season. Players will continue ranking up at the level they ended Season 01 at, whether it was before the Prestige Ranks (1-55) or within the Prestige Ranks (56-250).

More information on this Prestige system can be found here.

Bobby Kotick Says Sony “Not Returning” Activision’s Calls to Discuss Future of COD & New Opportunities

Following his comments about the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)’s investigation of the Microsoft-Activision deal, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has claimed that Sony is “not returning” the former’s phone calls to discuss the future of the Call of Duty franchise and new business opportunities. This behavior, Kotick claims, runs against not only the relationship between the two companies in previous years, but also Sony’s representation of the value Activision Blizzard has to its business in front of regulators.

As one of the most prominent proponents of Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Kotick has regularly used his platform to clear up various aspects of the deal, including the future of the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation and the regulatory scrutiny that has been holding up the deal in a number of regions. In a new interview, the Activision Blizzard CEO spoke about his company’s recent relationship with Sony in light of the latter’s concerns about the continued availability of Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles:

Sony’s not on the phone to us; in fact, they’re not returning our phone calls. One of the things that is surprising to us is that this is the time where, ordinarily, we would be talking about the future and new opportunities together for partnership, and they just haven’t been returning our phone calls. And so, I don’t know that we’re as valuable as maybe they’ve represented to the regulators that we are.

Kotick’s comments come right as the UK’s CMA published the provisional findings from its Phase 2 review of the Microsoft-Activision deal today, which identified two substantial lessening of competition (SLC) scenarios in the console and cloud gaming markets and recommended the divestiture of the Call of Duty franchise or parts of the Activision Blizzard business as remedies.
