STALKER 2 PS5 Version Announced; PS5 Pro Enhancements Promised

GSC Game World’s former Xbox-exclusive shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is headed to the PS5! Not only that, but players can expect PS5-specific features thanks to the DualSense and PS5 Pro.

The announcement was made today with a new trailer that confirmed the shooter will be out in “late 2025,” though no specific date was given.

STALKER 2 PS5 Bound Before 2025 Is Over

According to the developers, STALKER 2 on PS5 will utilize the DualSense’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. When it comes to PS5 Pro features, GSC Game World hasn’t mentioned anything specific yet, but did promise that “technical enhancements” are planned.

Released in November last year, STALKER 2 had technical issues out of the gate, but with countless updates that added new features, bug fixes and the like, the game is in a much better state now. Even with performance issues, the game is still an impressive piece of work. Our review mentioned the technical issues, but also said, “you’re a fan of the Stalker franchise, then Stalker 2 is going to be everything you’d hoped and probably expected from it. It’s a spectacular game with enjoyable combat that is filled with challenge and thrills, with a story and world that will have you hooked the moment you step in.”

Rematch’s Update for July 9 Brings It to Version 1.200.011 and Applies Freezing Fixes

Sloclap has released the latest patch for arcade football game Rematch, and it fixes server hitches and other minor bugs. Perhaps more importantly, this is the last hotfix for the game before the first major patch is pushed out.

There are not a lot of changes associated with this hotfix, but what Sloclap has said is listed in the patch notes.

Content

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a server hitch that could cause freezes at the end of a match
  • Online services update

While the current set of fixes is a small one, the dev team is aware of issues affecting the game. We’ve included the list of known issues being investigated by Sloclap as reference.

Rematch Known Issues (As of July 9)

  • During match start procedure, the color choice may not be usable with controller
  • During kickoff procedure, Ball is floating above the ground
  • During kickoff procedure, Ball has a glow around it
  • Bounce cursor VFX sometimes appears in the middle of the field
  • Camera is misplaced at the start of a 4v4 match in some stadiums
  • Goalkeeper gloves are sometimes visible floating during goal replay
  • Goal replays may show some stuttering characters
  • Sometimes the wrong music plays at the start of the match
  • During the prologue, players may experience some loading during the cutscene leading to a delay between the audio and video
  • Moving the cursor while unlocking some nodes in the battle pass will incorrectly update the previews at the bottom of the screen
  • Missing players in squad display while multiple invites are accepted at the same time
  • User becomes spectator upon multiple players using backfill in Quick Match
  • Inputs to switch between ranking/progression/stats at the end of a match do not respond well sometimes.
  • Mismatch between user’s league and the trophies displayed in the profile.
  • Volley animations may cancel while in the air resulting in an unatural animation while falling
  • Mic Source resets at each app boot.
  • On the option menu, when the “reset to default” button is pressed, it resets the default option on every menu pages, video, gameplay, remapping…
  • Deleting the AppData\Local\Runtime is highly recommended, as it may resolve several issues Players could encounter, regarding Controls for instance.

According to Sloclap, a new blog post will be shared next week to answer the most frequently asked questions, and give an update on their current priorities for the game. Not only that, but we should also have a further inkling on when crossplay will be introduced to Rematch.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev Leaked Release Date Five Years Ago, But No One Noticed

Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has surprised fans with a strange story about the release of their successful RPG.

Almost two years after the game was officially released in August 2023, one of the developers shared that the release date had actually been right in front of everyone the whole time—in a bar. What’s even more surprising is that, even though it was written in a public spot, nobody noticed it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Date Hidden on Whisky Bottle for Years Before Being Discovered

Baldur's Gate 3

Michael Douse, the publishing director at Larian, recently shared on social media that he had written the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date on a bottle of whisky and left it in a bar five years ago, before the pandemic.

“5 years and a pandy ago I wrote the BG3 release date on this bottle of whisky and let it hang at the bar, and nobody found it,” he said on X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of the bottle in question: a Japanese Suntory whisky bottle with the release date written in black marker on the back.

What might have been a problem turned out to be a funny story. “I was drunk but it never leaked so in retrospect it’s funny and not a legal issue,” Douse explained, adding jokingly, “Maybe I did it again? Who knows.”

In other news, Michael Douse claims ‘marketing is dead,’ stating players no longer want to be misled and prefer direct communication from developers.

PS4 System Update 12.52 Brings More of What You Expect

Even if the console is getting by in years, Sony hasn’t forgotten about the PS4. Today, July 9, PS4 system update 12.52 was released, and as one might expect, this isn’t a major update.

The download clocks in at 503 MB, and should be live worldwide. Again, this is a minor firmware update, so don’t expect any new features from it.

PS4 System Version Updates to 12.52

According to Sony, today’s PS4 firmware patch changelog does the following:

  • We’ve made some security fixes to the system software

That’s about it. While this doesn’t bring any front-facing changes, these security fixes are usually connected to the homebrew scene, and plugging any new cracks that have been concocted for the console.

With the PS5 firmware homebrew scene getting a major development update recently, there is a chance that’s connected to this one due to the backward compatibility nature of Sony’s new console. That’s purely conjecture on our end given the timing.

In other PlayStation news, the July Savings promotion is still ongoing, so give it a look if you’re looking for new discounted games. Also of note, just last month, Sony appears to be facing a class action lawsuit in the Netherlands over alleged inflated PSN Store price increases.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Update 1.006 on PS5 Finally Fixes Trophy Bug

After months of waiting, DOOM: The Dark Ages’ issue with a certain PS5 trophy is now resolved. Players should see DOOM: The Dark Ages update 1.006 out today, and this is a small download and is exclusive to the PS5 version of the game.

For the specifics, read on for the official changelog and what got fixed in today’s patch.

DOOM: The Dark Ages Berseker Trophy Bug Finally Fixed

The announcement from id Software states, “ℹ DOOM: The Dark Ages | Berserker Trophy PlayStation 5 Hotfix is live. This resolves the issue some users have been experiencing where they were unable to unlock the Berserker Achievement/Trophy upon obtaining the necessary upgrades.”

This issue has been present since launch on PS5, and we’re glad to say it’s finally sorted out. Even after the last patch that resolved downgraded visuals, it wasn’t implemented then. This doesn’t fix any other issues in the game, and if we hear off another patch, we’ll be sure to let our readers know.

If you’ve yet to play the game, it’s probably the best entry in the series. Our review thought very highly of it and said, “DOOM: The Dark Ages should definitely be in contention for game of the year, if not at least best single-player game of the year thus far. It has a meaty, action-packed campaign, replete with secrets and collectibles galore. ”

Once another patch is out,we’ll have it up on the site ASAP.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Steam Page Update Lists New Features Pointing to Remake Improvements

Last year, in June, we reported that Ubisoft confirmed they were working on multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes. One of these remakes is said to be Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. This was further backed up by various rumors and hints, with the latest updates on Steam adding weight to those claims.

Recently, some attentive fans noticed an important update on the game’s Steam page, revealing new technical features that were not present in the original 2013 version. These range from audio, graphical improvements, as well as added control customization and more.

New Features on Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Steam Page Hint at Possible Remake

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Steam Page

What was added via Steam include custom volume controls, stereo and surround sound, the option to use only the mouse, the ability to save at any time, and even difficulty adjustments—features completely absent in the original Black Flag.

These additions were discovered by monitoring the SteamDB platform, which tracks every technical and content change made to Steam pages. According to user The Hidden One on X (formerly Twitter), all Assassin’s Creed games released after 2014 feature these same updates on their Steam pages. He speculates that it might just be a mistake, or perhaps Ubisoft is updating every AC game released post-2014 with these changes.

Last month, Edward Kenway’s original voice actor hinted at the possibility of a remake, and in March, even the official statue makers linked to the franchise suggested it. These hints make the remake seem more likely.

Although Ubisoft has yet to make an official announcement, despite a likely teaser shared a few days ago, these technical and commercial signs seem to be pointing in the same direction. However, we should take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for official announcements from Ubisoft.

In related news, it was reported that the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake will feature more than just a visual upgrade, with enhanced gameplay mechanics and new systems, including improved combat and wildlife ecosystems

Monster Hunter Wilds Developers Face Threats After Troubled PC Launch, Capcom Cancels Panel in Response

CEDEC 2025, Japan’s largest conference for game development, is scheduled to take place from July 22 to 24. The event brings together industry professionals from major video game companies to share technical knowledge. As part of this event, Capcom had planned to participate and organize several events, including using Monster Hunter Wilds as a case study.

However, the team behind Monster Hunter Wilds has been receiving threats, which have been taken seriously. As a result, some developers are even refusing to attend public events.

Monster Hunter Wilds Developers Face Threats After Troubled PC Launch

Monster Hunter Wilds capcom

As reported by Automaton-Media, Capcom decided to withdraw from CEDEC due to these threats. Although the official reason for their decision has not been disclosed, negative comments have been directed personally at the company’s employees.

Capcom also released a statement about its harassment policy. While showing appreciation for player feedback, the company mentioned that its staff had been harassed through customer support and social media. In addition, Capcom warned that it is ready to take legal action to protect its staff.

It is worth noting that Monster Hunter Wilds faced critical reviews after its release on PC, with players mainly complaining about optimization issues. As of writing, nearly 88% of recent Steam reviews are overwhelmingly negative. In response, the developers acknowledged the issues and focused on improving performance, but community feedback has remained largely unchanged.

MP1st’s review of Monster Hunter Wilds gave it a score of 9 out of 10, stating, “Monster Hunter Wilds is a great entry in a fantastic franchise. While there are a lot of mechanics to consider, the game’s tutorials should help most new players to quickly acclimate and join the upper ranks of hunters in no time.”

In other news, Capcom reaffirms that Mega Man remains one of its most important IPs, despite no new game entries since 2018.

Capcom Says Mega Man Remains One of Their Most “Important IPs,” Even Without a New Entry in Sight

The Blue Bomber, aka Mega Man, continues his hiatus, which began with the last new entry in 2018. While Capcom has released several collections from the series over the years, we’ve yet to see any hints of the franchise returning with an entirely new game.

Despite that, though, Capcom still holds the IP in high regard, revealing that it’s still one of the most important IPs in their portfolio.

Don’t Get Too Excited, Capcom Still Doesn’t Know What’s Next for Mega Man

As stated during a recent shareholder Q&A, Capcom revealed that they consider the Mega Man IP to be among their most important IPs, though, sadly, offered no real insight into what the future may hold for it.

Q. Please tell me about your plans for the Mega Man series.

A. The Mega Man series is one of our most important IPs, and we are continuously considering ways to develop it further. However, we do not have any additional information we can share at this time.

This was followed up with another question about the IP, specifically regarding the merchandise contribution the series brings. Capcom noted that they receive a high volume of inquiries for Mega Man from overseas markets and that they would continue to expand on this further.

Beyond that, nothing else, meaning fans will have to continue waiting for his next adventure.

If the franchise were to return, what kind of game would you like to see it be? A continuation of the original mainline, with Mega Man 12? Or perhaps maybe a new Battle Network? What about a Zero game, or a new X? Perhaps something entirely new altogether to kick start a new modern-era Mega Man franchise?

While Mega Man might not have a new entry anytime soon, one of Capcom’s other important IPs, Resident Evil, will have its ninth chapter available early next year. The first story details for Resident Evil Requiem has been revealed, and it sounds like it might be one of the most interesting entries in the franchise.

Tekken 8 Patch 2.03.01 Balance Adjustments

(1) Ongoing Adjustments to Moves with Excessively High Rewards

We have continued our efforts from the Ver.2.01 update to address moves that offer disproportionately high rewards relative to their risks, as well as high-performance moves that can easily create repeated advantageous situations and lead to one-sided outcomes.

(2) Adjustment to the Frame Advantage on Block for Rage Arts

In the Ver.2.00.02 update, the maximum health was increased from 180 to 200, making it more common for characters to enter Rage state with higher remaining health.
As a result, there were more situations where simple punishments like throws after blocking a Rage Art were no longer sufficient to secure a KO.

In this update, the frame disadvantage of Rage Arts on block has been changed from -15F to -18F, enabling all characters to reliably punish with air combos.

Regarding the Previously Announced Character Buffs

As announced in the previous patch notes, we originally planned to implement buffs for several characters that would have minimal impact on the overall battle balance.
However, after careful consideration, we decided to limit the scope of this adjustment to Devil Jin only, in order to keep the impact on the overall balance to a minimum.

[Future Balance Adjustments]

Considering that several major esports tournaments will take place in August, the update scheduled for August (Ver.2.04) is not expected to include any battle balance adjustments.

As Bandai Namco has mentioned, don’t expect any balance changes to occur in the game’s August patch due to the several eSports tournaments that will take place in August.

In other fighting game news, seven years after release, this Capcom game got a mysterious update that has baffled gamers.

Battlefield 6 Campaign Spoilers Allegedly Out in the Wild, and the Game Hasn’t Even Been Announced Yet

While Electronic Arts hasn’t even officially revealed the new Battlefield game yet, details about its single-player campaign have already surfaced.

The info comes from a datamine of the latest game client for Battlefield Labs, which means it’s unofficial, so treat the leaked information with a grain of salt for now.

If you absolutely do not want to know anything about the campaign, I suggest turning away now. While there is a chance that details may change, it also discusses certain story elements that some might want to experience fresh.

Battlefield 6 Campaign Info Surfaces

Battlefield Labs Second Playtest

The leaked info comes from the BF1 Telegram group, who has listed info about the campaign. There’s nothing too specific, but it’s still details about something that hasn’t even been officially revealed yet.

  • Pax Armata forces have invaded Gibraltar. Your objective: take back the Rock from enemy forces attempting to seize this strategic location.
  •  Artillery has weakened Pax’s defensive systems.
  • Your team, Dagger 1-3, is deployed to support NATO and British forces, including a British unit named Lancer.
  •  You land alongside Bravo Element to establish a beachhead.
  • Destroy floating mines to ensure all allied AAVs can safely reach the Gibraltar shoreline.
  • Advance by accessing Gibraltar’s historic Great Siege Tunnels through a path beneath street level.
  • Neutralize anti-air (AA) batteries by disabling their datalinks, allowing NATO air support to proceed.

The Gibraltar connection was confirmed as part of the official concept art for the new Battlefield game, revealed by EA.

When it comes to the single-player campaign, it’s here where things get a little messy, At first, the development team behind it was headed by newly-formed EA first-party studio Ridgeline Games, which had Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto as studio chief. The thing is, in early 2024, Lehto departed EA, and Ridgeline Games was closed down without releasing a single product.

To date, the studios behind the new Battlefield include DICE Sweden, Ripple Effect, Criterion and Motive. It’s believed that Motive, the studio behind the excellent Dead Space remake, is handling the campaign, although other studios are also collaborating on it.

Aside from story details, we’ve also seen a work-in-progress footage of it surface recently too.

Again, for now, treat the info above with a grain of salt.

EA has said they will be revealing the new Battlefield game sometime this summer, so the wait shouldn’t be that long now.

Seven Years After Release, Controversial Fighting Game Gets Mysterious New Update

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was released nearly a decade ago, and many fans were disappointed with it. Fans didn’t like that the game due to its disappointing character roster, most notably the absence of the X-Men, along with a bland art style and a perceived lack of care and polish from both Marvel and Capcom. These factors contributed to the game’s poor reception and commercial failure.

Following this backlash and the game’s commercial failure, Capcom seemingly abandoned the title and shifted focus to other projects. However, in an unexpected turn, a massive 35GB update for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has been released—seven years after the last patch and without any prior notice or explanation from Capcom.

Mysterious 35GB Update Drops for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite With Zero Explanation from Capcom

marvel vs capcom infinite update

News of the update first surfaced on Steam, where players reported receiving the mysterious 35GB patch. So far, Capcom has remained silent, offering no details about what the update contains.

Since the update doesn’t bring any noticeable changes, many fans find it strange—especially because it’s not just a small patch but a massive 35GB update, leaving players curious about what might have been added or changed.

For now, it’s best to wait for Capcom to say something official, as they will probably explain why the update was made and what players should expect next.

There’s also speculation that the update might be related to a popular fan-made mod titled Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite & Beyond, released in late 2024. The mod was well received, earning over 50,000 downloads in its first week.

Interestingly, some players have reported that the new patch causes the game to crash when attempting to access these additional modded modes—though it’s unclear if the patch directly affected the mod.

Popular FGC YouTuber Maximilian Dood also noted that the update broke a few things in the mod, further fueling speculation about whether Capcom intentionally targeted mod support or if it was an unintended side effect. While this lends credibility to the theory that the update relates to mod compatibility, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Still Wakes the Deep Update 1.600.001 Swims Out to Fix Various Issues; DLC Fixes Planned

The Chinese Room has a new update for Still Wakes the Deep for console and PC gamers this July 7. Players on consoles will see this as patch download 1.600.001, while PC gamers will see this as version 1.6.3.

This is a hotfix more than anything else, but the included fixes are significant enough to affect gameplay.

Still Wakes the Deep’s New Update Hits the Water on Consoles and PC

Here’s what’s new for the game on July 7 per the game’s developers:

Patch Notes:

  • Fixed an issue that caused the fog to be incredibly potent in Still Wakes the Deep, especially on the deck. Now you can see your monsters friends clearly!
  • Fixed an issue that caused freezes when the corruption effect played on both Still Wakes the Deep and Siren’s Rest, especially on AMD GPUs. This should have a positive knock-on effect for anyone who has other GPUs and also experience this issue.
  • Made alterations to the umbilical cord during Scene 3 of Siren’s Rest.

Alongside today’s patch, The Chinese Room has also revealed details on the fixes planned for Still Wakes the Deep’s first story DLC, Siren’s Rest. While no timeframe has been given on when this patch will be released,  the studio did outline some of the improvements planned, and these include:

  • Fixes for audio and dialogue bugs such as overlapping voice lines
  • Visual improvements, which include multiple fixes for the umbilical cord in Siren’s Rest (included in today’s patch)
  • Resolving issues with missing tentacles from an antagonist
  • Memento tracker to be added
  • Chapter selection feature to be added
  • Soft lock issues when players retrace their steps

The planned chapter select feature option will help in “discovering a secret towards the finale,” the devs tease.
