Apex Legends Update 1.50 November 4 Released for Season 7 Ascension

It’s finally here, legends! Respawn Entertainment has released the Apex Legends update 1.50 November 4 patch, and this brings Season 7 titled “Ascension” into the game! Expect a new legend, new map, legend changes and loads more!

Apex Legends Update 1.50 November 4 Patch Notes:

NEW LEGEND: HORIZON

Meet Horizon! She’s the newest Legend, a brilliant scientist, and a master of gravity manipulation. She has a deep connection to the new arena, and a motivation that will tug at your heartstrings.

Horizon’s custom space suit allows her to fall from great heights and control her movements in the air. Using her custom technology, she can use gravity lifts to give her team a vertical boost, and she can even deploy NEWT (her small robot named after her son, Newton) to drop a micro black hole that pulls opponents into the center for some serious crowd control.

Passive: Spacewalk

Increase air control and reduce fall impacts with Horizon’s custom spacesuit.

Tactical: Gravity Lift

Reverse the flow of gravity, lifting players upward and boosting them outward when they exit.

Ultimate: Black hole

Deploy NEWT to create a micro black hole that sucks in nearby Legends.

NEW MAP: OLYMPUS

The Legends have entered a new arena: the sky city of Olympus.

A utopia floating in clouds above Psamathe, it was once a place where the brightest minds in the Outlands could gather and exchange ideas. However, an accident in an experimental research facility led to the creation of the Phase Rift (a massive bubble of Phase energy), and the city was abandoned.

Now players can use Olympus’ luxurious amenities to their advantage. Rotating agricultural towers, beautiful gardens and classy restaurants serve as new stages for intense skirmishes. New vehicles called Tridents give your squad a way to boost into battle and take your enemies by surprise. The Phase Runner – a tunnel of Phase energy running through the center of Olympus – lets you cross the map in seconds. And the Rift stands tall over everything, mysterious and beckoning . . .

NEW VEHICLE: THE TRIDENT

Exclusive to Olympus, the Trident is a hover car designed for your whole squad.

Cruise the highways to avoid chokepoints or use the boost to soar over jumps, this thing is made to speed up those early game rotations. Drive in third person, or ride as a passenger in first person with full shooting capabilities. The Trident is durable, so it will never explode, but damage applied from enemy fire will be dispersed amongst the players in the car. Don’t worry, you can still do full damage to players by hitting them directly so we expect to see some amazing Kraber shots. Disembark to park it anywhere and use it as makeshift cover in the late game.

The Trident interacts with Legend abilities in many different ways, experiment and have fun!

LTM: OLYMPUS PREVIEW

To help you understand and explore the map without fear of getting shot, we are introducing a new playlist called Olympus Preview. This mode teams you up with 30 Legends on Olympus and allows you to roam the map to learn map drops, loot areas, and practice your routes to the end game. Circles are still on and once circle 4 finishes, players are brought back up to the plane to start the second skydive run. There are a total of 3 runs before the match ends. This mode is only available for one week.

CLUBS

With this season, we are introducing clubs. Join a club with like minded legends and make it easier to find your champion squad. Don’t see a particular club you like, then create one and let your friends know to join! Read more on clubs here.

STEAM

Boot up Steam and start downloading and play Apex Legends! If you’re coming from Origin, all your progress and unlocks will carry over. And for a limited time, log into Steam and receive these Half-Life and Portal inspired weapon charms.

BATTLE PASS

The Season 7 Battle Pass is all about that high fashion. Level up your Pass to unlock the skins like the Wraith “High Class” and Octane’s “Fast Fashion”.

Challenges are no longer points-based and are now granted between 1 to 5 stars, depending on their difficulty. Collecting 10 stars will take you to the next Battle Pass level. We have also added tabs to the challenges menu in the lobby that allow you to toggle between daily, top weekly, and event challenges. Within a match, players can open the map and see this same widget in game.

For more on the changes to Challenges, check out this dev blog.

QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES

Attachment Swap Improvements

When replacing an attachment with one from the ground, if the old attachment is an improvement for your other weapon, the old attachment will get automatically transferred.

Replicator Updates

  • For Season 7, we have removed weapons from the crafting pool and have replaced them with Shield batteries. The high level attachments will still be tailored towards a weapon category.
  • We now prevent other players from picking up items that you crafted for the first 5 seconds after crafting. This can be disabled by pinging the item.

Air Drop Clarity

  • The colors of the beams have been changed to differentiate between normal airdrops, Lifeline’s airdrops, and Replicator airdrops. Normal drops are a light tan, Lifeline’s drops are blue, and Replicator drops and teal.
  • All of the airdrops’ landing area FX while it’s coming down matches their colors.
  • Airdrop beams still stay visible when close to the airdrop, instead of fading when you get close. The beam still disappears when the pod is opened.

Misc

  • The Arc Star now shows an Arc Star model when one is thrown near you, instead of a grenade.
  • Added a new VO line when you are using a Phoenix Kit
  • Added a new VO line when you drop a Holo Spray
  • You can now ping ammo in your inventory to request more from your squad
  • Made modifications to The Ring to reduce the amount of unplayable space in the circles.

MAP ROTATIONS

Regular Map Rotation

For 2 weeks, Olympus will be the only map you can play on. After that week we go into a normal rotation between Olympus and World’s Edge. We will be vaulting Kings Canyon for the time being.

Season 7 Ranked Rotation

The first half of Ranked Split will be played on Olympus. The second half of ranked will be played on World’s Edge. For more information on this season’s ranked updates, check out the ranked blog here.

LEGEND META

Bangalore

  • Rolling Thunder: Reduced the time it takes for explosion from 8 seconds to 6 seconds.

Dev Note:

Not much to say here. Rolling Thunder will continue to function primarily as a zoning ability, but with a somewhat shorter fuse, it will encourage enemies to leave the zone slightly faster.

Caustic

  • Nox Gas Trap/Nox Gas Grenade: Legends no longer get a blurred vision effect while in the gas. Damage updated from 4-10 ticks of damage to 6-12 ticks of damage.

Dev Note:

Fighting in Caustic Gas is one of the most frustrating things in Apex Legends, and yet we need the gas to represent a meaningful threat or else enemies will just ignore it. With this change we’re attacking what we think is the greatest contributor to this frustration: the fact that your vision is blurred while you’re in gas. This made it extremely hard to fight back. To make up for lost power, we’re upping the damage from the gas a bit.

Mirage

  • Psyche Out/Life of the Party: Decoys now have 45 health

Dev Note:

Our bamboozler-in-chief is a hard Legend to keep relevant. Every time we make a change to decoys, there is a clear uptick in usage and power as Mirage mains learn to use their new tools, and then as the rest of the world catches on and starts being able to tell the real Mirage from his equally handsome holographs, that uptick disappears. This time around we want to try and make it a little bit harder to clear out decoys. We’re giving them health, but to make this very clear up front: they will not work as a shield. While they take damage from bullets, the bullet also passes through them and hits whatever’s behind them. This is what we call the hallway test: you should not be able to win an engagement against an enemy in a straight coverless hallway by snapcasting a decoy and having said decoy eat an entire Wingman shot. Decoys will also play unique hit effects and briefly flicker out of existence when taking damage to help you differentiate between them and the real Mirage.

Octane

  • Swift Mend: Doubled healing rate (from 0.5 hp/s to 1.0 hp/s)

Dev note:

Octane is a Legend for players who like to go fast, run face first into the enemy, and get knocked down a lot. We think that’s absolutely fine; the fact that his Trios winrate isn’t great doesn’t really bother us because both his encounter win rate (think of this as his ability to score knockdowns) and his pick rate are very healthy. That said, we figured we could give him a little extra out of combat help. His passive’s heal rate was very slow, requiring up to 200s to fully heal your health bar.

Wattson

  • Perimeter Security: Increased damage per touch from 10 to 15.

Dev Note:

Wattson is the anti-Octane: not super powerful individually, not picked very often at all below Plat, but an absolute must have for competitive squads. We’re also happy with that niche, but figured it would be safe to give her a little extra power in her best case: people running into her fences. We’re aiming for this to bring up her power and attractiveness at lower levels of play especially, since we don’t see a lot of players run into Wattson fences in high skill matches.

Loba

  • Black Market: Ammo taken no longer counts towards Black Market’s maximum. You can scoop up all the ammo in range.

Dev Note:

We’re taking another swing at making Loba the ultimate Legend to bring to solve all of your team’s loot needs. We have heard your feedback that you want improvements to her tactical as well, and while that’s certainly not off the table, our data suggest that her encounter win rate (how many knockdowns she gets compared to how many times she’s knocked down, across all matches) is quite healthy. It’s her Trios winrate that’s worryingly low. Make no mistake: this is a major swing at making Black Market powerful.

Rampart

  • Sheila: Now takes 1.25 seconds to fully spin up, down from 2 seconds.
  • Amped Wall: Now takes 3 seconds to fully build, down from 4 seconds.

Dev Note:

In patch 6.1, we made a small change to how long it takes Sheila to tighten her bullet spread. This didn’t meaningfully increase her winrate. The other half of that change is in this patch. We do not want to change Rampart away from being a Legend that requires setup, but we do want to make it faster to set up. Amped Wall should remain a mostly out of combat setup ability rather than a reactive ability and Sheila should remain an area denial tool rather than a murder machine, but like all things, these balance points exist on a spectrum, and with this patch we’re moving them slightly closer to reactive/murder machine territory.

Pathfinder

Dev Note:

Pathfinder continues to be an overachiever in terms of win rate. The good news is that his grapple change in 6.1 didn’t move his win rate by much (it went up 1% in total). We’re doing two things this patch: we’re adjusting his hitboxes and we’re putting in tuning for Grappling Hook that will firmly move it into buff territory. More context below!

Hitbox: Pathfinder has a tall but extremely skinny hitbox. A lot of his model isn’t actually shootable and particularly his arms and legs do not represent a lot of shootable area either. Here is a before and after comparison of Pathfinder’s hitboxes:

As you can see, there is still a lot of negative space around his arms and legs. We’re hoping that by making it a little easier to hit Pathfinder, we can bring his win rate under control to the point where we can put meaningful power into his kit.

Because the question is sure to come up: we are not yet removing Low Profile from Pathfinder with this change. Even with these increased hitboxes, Pathfinder will still be considerably harder to hit than most other characters in the game. If this change does make a meaningful difference in terms of his win rate we will drop Low Profile; but we really didn’t want to take it off him this patch only to have to put it back next patch when it turns out his winrate spiked.

Grappling Hook: We’re making a number of changes to Grappling Hook. In 6.1 we shipped a very conservative version of this change; now that we know this didn’t meaningfully affect his winrate or, anecdotally, how frustrating it is to fight him, we’re shipping the much more aggressive version of the changelist. We also want to make it clear that players should not be punished for chaining grappling hook perfectly into other movement mechanics.

  • Pathfinder no longer needs to be on the ground for Grappling Hook to be considered finished.
  • The speed to which Pathfinder needs to drop for us to consider Grappling Hook finished was increased from 300 units/second to 500 units/second
  • The maximum cooldown grapple can be set to was lowered to 30 seconds, from 35 seconds; the maximum amount of travel time before a new cooldown is set is now 5 seconds, rather than being uncapped. This means that effectively, you can never incur more than a 35 second cooldown.
  • The amount of distance you can travel before you hit maximum cooldown was roughly doubled.

WEAPON META

Supply Drop

R99 Out of Supply Drop: The R99 will be returning to the normal loot pool this season, with the same stats it had before it went into the supply drop at the start of season 6.

  • Damage: 12 -> 11 (from Care Package version to normal pre-season 6)
  • Ammo 20/22/24/27

Prowler Into Supply Drop: The prowler is replacing the R99 in the supply drop. Despite the Selectfire hop-up being removed from the loot pool this season, the Prowler will still have the ability to change between 5 round bursts and full-auto.

  • Magazine size: 35; reserve ammo: 175

Fully Kitted Weapons

  • Removed: Devotion, Mastiff, Triple Take, Flatline, Volt
  • New: Wingman, Sentinel, Havoc, G7, Alternator

Hemlok

  • Increasing horizontal recoil of the first 3 shots slightly to the right (first burst when in burst mode)
  • Increasing recoil magnitude in the later stages of the pattern
  • Reducing recoil multiplier in single fire mode to help compensate for additional recoil in pattern. Recoil should mostly be increased in burst mode rather than single fire mode
  • Reducing headshot multiplier 2.0 -> 1.75 (44 -> 39 damage headshot against no helmet base character)

Dev Notes:

While we are happy to see the Hemlok get more attention with the recent buffs, we think it is a little too strong in season 6. The effective range of the burst mode felt a bit too far, and the spike damage capabilities of a full headshot burst were too strong in high level play.

Havoc

  • Updated recoil pattern. Kicks up, then right, then left, then up again.

Dev Notes:

With 6.0, the Havoc got a new recoil pattern. This new recoil pattern was a bit too erratic and difficult to control, due to multiple rapid changes in direction. We have adjusted the recoil pattern to have the same general movement while simplifying the motions required to control the pattern.

L-Star

  • LSTAR has a new recoil pattern that kicks horizontally at first and then settles into a relatively consistent upward recoil. Players who feather the trigger will be able to keep the LSTAR in the good portion of the recoil pattern.
  • LSTAR venting time after letting go of the trigger has been reduced 0.4s -> 0.15s.
  • LSTAR will now reduce heat faster when not overheated — 1.15s from 99.9% to 0% charge if not overheated, still 2.45s if overheated.

Dev Notes:

The LSTAR had some limitations that caused it to feel worse than we’d like. The recoil pattern snaked back and forth, which was difficult to control reliably. Additionally, firing for short bursts and then releasing the trigger repeatedly, or “feathering the trigger”, felt somewhat clunky due to the long venting time after firing and the slow heat reduction. So, we are reducing those pain points to improve the viability and feel of feathering the trigger, and adjusting the recoil pattern to reward players who can effectively control the LSTAR’s heat.

Sentinel

  • Energized Sentinel now has a pure damage increase, instead of bonus damage only vs shields
  • Energized Sentinel base damage 70 -> 88

Dev Notes:

The Sentinel was still a bit weak. We think a good place to improve it is the energize ability. It seems a bit too situational, only being a benefit if the opponent has >70 shields. So, we are changing the energize from a “disruptor” anti-shield effect to an “amp” damage boost effect.

Triple Take

  • Fire rate 1.3 -> 1.2

Dev Note:

The Triple Take is still performing a bit too well after the most recent nerf, so we are reducing the fire rate back to what it was before the 6.0 patch. We will be watching in the future to see how just the integrated choke, sniper ammo increase, and new popularity affect the weapon’s performance.

Hop-Ups

  • Quickdraw Holster Hop-up: This new hop-up attaches to the RE-45 and Wingman. When equipped, the gun becomes quicker to raise and lower, takes less time to ADS, and has reduced hipfire spread (particularly when not actively moving). This should open up new opportunities to use the two weapons, especially in close-quarters combat.
  • The Selectfire Receiver hop-up will be removed from the loot pool to make room.

GAME META CHANGES

Evo Armor requirements increased

We increased the requirements to evolve Evo Armor in order to reduce the amount of players with Red Evo Armor during the end game.

  • Level 0 -> 1 : 100 damage (from 50)
  • Level 1 -> 2 : 150 damage (from 125)
  • Level 2 -> 3 : 300 damage (from 250)
  • Level 3 -> 4 : 750 damage (from 500)

Ring damage reduced

  • Ring 1: 2% per tick (same)
  • Ring 2: 3% per tick (from 5%)
  • Particularly this change should allow players enough time to pop a syringe if they are picked up in Ring 2.
  • Ring 3: 5% per tick (from 10%)
  • Ring 4: 10% per tick (from 20%)
  • Ring 5: 10% per tick (from 20%)
  • Ring 6: 15% per tick (from 25%)
  • Ring 7: 15% per tick (from 25%)

BUG FIXES

Audio

  • We’ve made some advancements in footstep audio playing more reliably. We have more work being done that we’ll continue to roll out as it gets completed.

Pathfinder

  • Fixed an issue with ziplines going through platforms when deployed from underneath.

Wraith

  • Fixed an issue with priming a grenade cancelling Wraith’s ultimate.

Octane

  • Fixed an issue with getting stuck in double jump after using a jump pad.
  • Fixed an issue with Octane being able to use healing items while on a zipline.

Crypto

  • Fixed an issue with his drone being able to drop items from Crypto’s inventory.
  • Fixed an issue with his drone not being able to fit through certain windows.
  • Fixed an issue with his drone marking friendly Mirage decoys as enemies.

Revenant

  • Fixed an issue with Revenant getting pushed into geo when his totem was deployed in tight spaces.

Rampart

    • Fixed an issue with Rampart not being able to place an amp wall while jumping.
    • Fixed an issue with Sheila teleporting when placed on a hatch in World’s Edge Staging.

Once Respawn releases more info regarding the game’s next mode and patch, we’ll let our readers know.

NBA 2K21 The City Announced for Next-Gen Platforms, Affiliations Returning

While NBA 2K21 for current-gen might have Neighborhoods, the next-gen version of the game will have something much bigger. Visual Concepts has announced the NBA 2K21 The City!

What is The City? Well, according to Visual Concepts’ Erick Boenisch, Executive Producer at the studio, The City is their most ambitious execution of a virtual basketball community of all time.

THE CITY

Here is The City at a quick glance: Imagine a map that is many, many times larger than previous Neighborhoods. A design that resembles a modern metropolis, complete with towering skyscrapers, sprawling plazas, and a city center. Oh, and it houses four distinct boroughs that are controlled by four rival Affiliations. And with that, I’m incredibly proud to announce that Affiliations are BACK! I’ll go into more details on Affiliations a little further below. For now, let’s keep painting the picture of what The City truly is.

  • Rookieville – Sitting just off the water’s edge on the southern side of The City lies the Rookieville docks. Rookieville is exactly what it sounds like; this is where your NBA 2K21 City journey will begin. MyPLAYERs looking to dive into The City and all that it has to offer must first prove their skills amongst other rookie MyPLAYERs in this isolated cluster of basketball courts. Meet the requisite actions in Rookieville, and the gates of The City will open before you. Let’s find out what awaits you on the other side…
  • Boroughs – As I noted above, Affiliations make their long-awaited return in NBA 2K21. Each has a dedicated space in the North, South, East, and West sections of The City that we refer to as boroughs. Each borough has its own vibe and collection of basketball courts – decked out in the Affiliations logos and colors. Additionally, each Affiliation area houses a unique Warehouse basketball court, where new MyPLAYER progression features await. More on this below!
  • Event Center – The heart of The City is the brand new Event Center, shining like a bright beacon, no matter which borough you view it from. Equally bright and shiny are the many different interiors of this futuristic monolith, where the court floors and walls are lined with dynamic LED screens and lighting elements that change the tone and vibe of the setting. All new and returning Events will be held inside the Event Center, and special intra-Affiliation competitions will take place here as well.
  • Garage Hoops – Exploration is a major part of experiencing The City. Sprinkled around The City, you will find basketball hoops attached to the side of some buildings – if you look close enough. If you happen to see one, try pulling out your basketball and shooting some hoops with it. If another player passes by and sees you shooting, they will have the ability to step on the court and shoot with you. From there you will have the option to quickly and seamlessly launch into 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, HORSE, and many other game types. Its simplicity is its strong point. And as an added bonus, there are large VC multipliers you can earn on these courts each day for your first five games played! This is a great place to start your day off as you warm up for the main event at your affiliation’s courts.
  • People of The City – Continuing on with the theme of exploration, scattered throughout The City are quest/objective giving NPCs. If you’ve ever played any RPG experiences, you’ll have no problem spotting them; they will be the people with colored exclamation points above their heads. Every 4-6 weeks, new quests/objectives will be added to our People of The City, such that you will find yourself with new things to do all year long.
    • Generally speaking, there are two lines of quests. The first is a series of single player 3v3 games you will be challenged with in the Warehouses found in the court area of each affiliation. Some of these can be pretty challenging as you’ll be facing off against some of the best players to ever lace up a pair of basketball shoes. The insides of the Warehouses are actually very cool. Astute players who enjoyed NBA 2K20’s Neighborhood will appreciate the throwback efforts within them! The other line of quests will encourage you to get out and play games in The City, and reward you for doing so. Simple as that. Complete all of the quests and you will earn some unique clothing items/accessories that are not sold in stores. Get out there and ball, my friends!

  • Gatorade Training Facility – The mecca of MyPLAYER physical training gets a makeover on multiple levels – literally. The facility has now expanded to two floors, where on the first floor, MyPLAYERs will find their usual array of training equipment that’ll help beef up their abilities. The second floor houses a great new feature in The City: Rental Courts. Want an uninterrupted run of games with your friends or other ballers you just met? Rent a court in the Gatorade Training Facility and play games however you want!
  • Special Courts – There are a couple full-sized (one 4v4, the other 5v5) courts available in The City. These are non-affiliated courts that our team created to pay tribute to two things we are very passionate about. One of these courts was built to commemorate and celebrate the late Kobe Bryant. The surface is textured beautifully with Kobe’s signature snakeskin design, and his numbers 8 and 24 mark the restricted areas at the opposite ends of the court. And overlooking the grounds is a gigantic mural of an iconic Kobe moment, where he stood triumphantly on the scorer’s table as he celebrated his 5th NBA championship. I know you all are picturing the pose. What you are thinking is correct; and it is immortalized right here in NBA 2K21’s The City. This is a location where you will find me playing, as I celebrate my Laker and Kobe fandom!
  • Fire Ball – Holding court in The City is going to come with an air of prestige in the next-gen version of NBA 2K21. On occasion, you will see a Fire Ball being used on the courts…yes, literally A BALL THAT IS ON FIRE! When your team wins 10 games in a row on Affiliation courts, the ball used in your game will immediately catch on fire and stay lit until you lose. Expect crowds to gather around your court when this happens! You already know that everyone seeing the fire ball will be like a bat signal for the best ballers to start lining up to dethrone your reign. Challenge extended!
  • Pink Diamond Plaza – One of my favorite basketball court designs in the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 sits atop Pink Diamond Plaza, located right in the heart of The City. Decked out in fluorescent lights and with music orchestrated by a resident DJ, Pink Diamond Plaza hosts the entirety of the MyTEAM Triple Threat Online experience. Give it a look and prepare to be impressed!
  • Apparel Stores – While some of your favorite shops from the old Neighborhoods will be returning, The City has been built to feature an even wider variety of apparel locations for you to express your style. Some of our closest brand partners will be receiving a dedicated space within our plaza of shops. All your favorites, including Nike, Jordan Brand, adidas, Under Armour, Puma, and many more can be found in the City. For me, two of my favorite new stores are Alter Ego and Drip Brothers; you can get some fun items in those two! Be on the lookout for all of the new self-expression items we will have available at launch and beyond!

Affiliations are also coming back for next-gen as well.

AFFILIATIONS

The City is big. The return of Affiliations, however, may be just as big – if not bigger. For some years now, one of the most requested features from the NBA 2K community has been Affiliation-based gameplay. Naturally, we’re incredibly excited to bring it back in a meaningful way that offers competitive depth to the City. This is something we have wanted to do for a number of years now, and the power of the next-gen consoles finally affords us the opportunity to see our vision through.

Let’s start with the basics. There are four Affiliations in The City:

  • North Side Knights

  • South City Vipers

  • Beasts of the East

  • Western Wildcats

Each has their own dedicated borough and set of Affiliation courts within The City. Rep up to Pro 1 by winning a few games in Rookieville, and you’ll be assigned to one of these four rival factions. If you didn’t land in your Affiliation of choice, you can always head to City Hall of the Affiliation you are interested in joining and file a transfer request. The penalty for changing your Affiliation is your Rep level will reset all the way down to Pro 1 (what you had when you graduated from Rookieville); I would encourage you to think long and hard before abandoning your team to jump ship!

So, who will run The City? At the core of Affiliations gameplay is rivalry and competition. It’s us vs. them. Who will be the best? We’ve designed this experience to be an ever-present grapple amongst the Knights, Vipers, Beasts, and Wildcats for bragging rights within The City. Here is what’s in-play as you represent your Affiliation:

  • Player Rep – Playing on your own Affiliation’s courts has its advantages; specifically, you can only achieve your full Player Rep by balling on your home court. Playing on the courts of your rival Affiliations will earn you much less rep per game played. Leveling up and strengthening your MyPLAYER will be very key for what is to come…
  • Rival Day Conquest – The final two weeks of every Mayor term (more on this below!) will feature the culmination of a series of events to crown which Affiliation runs The City. Rival Day Conquest is a key event where all rep-earning restrictions are removed from The City and you are encouraged to invade every other borough with your teammates and take hold of the courts. Keep a close eye on the leaderboard located in each court area; at the end of Rival Day Conquest, the four Affiliations will be ranked by score and seeded for the culmination of the season, the Rival Day Championship.
  • Rival Day Championship – Taking place in the Event Center, this is the final piece of the puzzle in confirming your Affiliation as the true champions of The City. Battle head-to-head with teams from other Affiliations as you engage in this culminating experience. For the Affiliation that comes out on top of this head-to-head championship, the spoils of The City await you. You’ll be able to head to your Affiliations City Hall and pick up your winner’s check (enjoy the free VC!), but the real prize is your Mayor will also be able to deck out your entire borough and make your Affiliation the envy of The City.

Dauntless December Update “Reforged” Outlined, Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X

To possibly no one’s surprise, Phoenix Labs has today confirmed that Dauntless is hitting next-gen! Yep, that means you’ll continue your monster hunting ways on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and players can expect cross-platform support to continue the hunt. In addition to that, the Dauntless December update seems to be a big one, as we’re given an overview of what the studio calls “Dauntless Reforged,” as well as some of the stuff planned for the community in the foreseeable future.

Over on the game’s official site, Phoenix Labs CEO Jesse Houston has penned a letter to the game’s community outling community transparency, more “State of the Game” posts, more in-depth roadmaps in the future, and more.

Check out a quick preview of what’s coming in the Dauntless December update:

REFORGED AND THE FUTURE OF DAUNTLESS

The future has never been brighter for Dauntless. So bright, in fact, that Dauntless will be available at launch on next-gen consoles. Expect the Shattered Isles to be waiting for you on Xbox Series X and S, and on PlayStation 5, with the full suite of cross-platform support you expect from us. That’s in addition to our continued presence on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Six places to play, One Dauntless.

Not only is the entire studio excited to bring Dauntless to the next generation of consoles, but we also can’t wait for you to experience everything that’s coming to Dauntless this December. We’ve titled this update Dauntless Reforged because it’s going to change the way you hunt in the Shattered Isles. Reforged is about changing the pace of Dauntless. Players will no longer focus on queuing up for one hunt at a time. In fact, Pursuits and Patrols will be removed from the game. Instead, we’re reducing downtime by introducing a longer lasting hunt type with deeper progression systems. We’ve been calling it “Stay and Slay” around the office. Expect a full blog post in the near future outlining everything in Reforged, but for now, here’s a preview of the new features to look forward to:

  • New Hunt Type: Hunting Grounds
  • 17 Reworked Islands for Hunting Grounds
  • 1 Brand New Island for Hunting Grounds
  • Gliders
  • Island Events
  • Slayer’s Path Progression System
  • Class XP System and Prestige Rework
  • Gear Leveling Rework

Houston also touched on roadmap updates, and State of the Game posts on Reddit.

“STATE OF THE GAME” POSTS AND AMAS

You can also look forward to frequent State of the Game posts on Reddit. Here we will share thoughts on and insights into each patch and what we’re currently working on, which we’d love to discuss with you in the comments.

We will also be doing more AMAs around large feature releases such as new hunt types, events, Escalations, etc. so be sure to follow us on Reddit.

ROADMAP UPDATES

You may have noticed that our latest Roadmap update added more descriptive text. Our aim here is to go beyond “what’s coming” by sharing additional info about where features are in the development process. We will be providing clearer, more substantial updates as we move forward.

For other parts of the letter, which includes community playtests, talking about the meta and more, head on over here.

PlanetSide 2 Update 2.22 November 4 Rolled Out

Daybreak Games has released the PlanetSide 2 update 2.22 November 4 patch on PS4, and it’s live now. This is a client-side patch, and brings a few new changes into the free-to-play shooter. Head on below for the official list of changes/tweaks for today’s update.

PlanetSide 2 Update 2.22 November 4 Patch Notes:

Here’s the official list of changes per the Executive Producer of the PlanetSide franchise:

We just published a new client-only update to #planetside2 PS4 (NA/EU regions) that includes the new Outfit Logs screen, Vivox vchat settings additions, improved Mentor/Newbie chat accessibility, Cert Horn FX fix and additional improvements to reduce crashes. No server downtime.

Of course, given PS4 gamers just got the Shattered Warpgate content drop last month, it’s understandable that this patch is mostly for fixes and a few minor tweaks.

If there are more gameplay-related changes or bug fixes, we’ll be sure to update the post.

SMITE Update 11.61 November 4 Released for Fixes

While we just got the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles update for SMITE yesterday, Hi-Rez Studios has released the SMITE update 11.61 November 4 patch for the PS4 and Xbox One. As one might expect, there’s no new content included, but it’s purely for fixes.

SMITE Update 11.61 November 4 Patch Notes:

Here’s what got fixed according to the official SMITE Trello board:

  • [PS4/XB] TMNT Battle Pass levels cannot be purchased from the main track after leaving Battle Pass page. Only select levels can be purchased by navigating to the first Battle Pass tab.

Additionally, Hi-Rez has also outlined a fix out for PC that’s “coming soon” for PS4 and Xbox One, which we’re hoping means this patch.

  • [Server] Cu Chulainn ability 1 not working at rank 4 while transformed.
  • [PC] Sometimes unable to purchase additional levels of Battle Pass. (coming soon for XB/PS4)

That’s all the known changes/fixes so far, but once Hi-Rez Studios offers a more detailed list of changes, we’ll be sure to update the post. If you spot any bugs that got fixed, or gameplay changes included in this update, leave a comment below and let us know what they are.

PS5 DualSense Faceplate Can Be Removed, Opens Possibilities for Customization

With just days to go before the world welcomes the launch of the PS5, a new video has surfaced featuring how the PS5 DualSense faceplate can be removed, which opens up possiblities of Sony or third-party customization options for it. Not only that, but it looks like even the light can be changed, too.

In a new feature released by YouTuber John Glasscock, the DualSense seemingly is primed at being a customizable option for PS5 users.

As the video shows, the black plate that covers the thumbstick in the controller can be removed, and players have the option of switching the lightbar colors — making the DualSense a device that is specifically tailored to the tastes and specs of the user. It’s still a mystery whether or not Sony is priming this up for first-party faceplate options or open to  third-party makers. Important to note that last week Sony issued a cease and desist order to a third-party company that was developing customizable plates for the PS5.

Much like its predecessor in the DualShock 4, the default DualSense controller features a sleek grip design that has the white and black futuristic motif that the main PS5 console has. The peripheral has built in microphone. a microphone jack, and a secondary charging port in additions to the D-Pad, dual Thumbsticks, buttons, and PS power logo to activate the controller.

Speaking of the DualSense, check out this teardown of the controller where we even see its internal components compared to the DualShock 4.

Be sure to check our related feature on the PS5 that shows off the UI, 664 GB of storage, and more here.

Black Ops Cold War Pre-Load Dates, File Sizes on All Platforms Revealed

Earlier today, we posted that the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will require 285GB of HDD space minimum. Today, Activision has announced the Black Ops Cold War pre-load dates and file sizes for every platform (next-gen included).

Black Ops Cold War Pre-Load Dates:

PlayStation® 4: Pre-loading will be available on November 5th at 9 PM. PT.

Xbox One: Pre-loading will be available on November 5th at 9 PM. PT.

PC: Pre-loading will be available on November 10th at 10AM PT.

Next Generation Consoles: Pre-loading will be available on their respective launch dates (November 10th for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, November 12th for PlayStation 5).

If you purchased a digital version of the game, but it is not downloading during the pre-load period, visit your platform’s respective first-party store and follow the prompts to begin the download. Ensure your console is also updated to the latest firmware before attempting to pre-load the game.

On PC, Black Ops Cold War can be found under “Partner Games” in the Battle.net launcher.

As for the file sizes, here’s what Activision has announced:

File Size (at launch)*

In order to pre-load Black Ops Cold War, you must have the following free drive space on your platform:

PlayStation 4: 95GB

PlayStation 5: 133GB

Xbox One: 93GB

Xbox Series X|S: 136GB

Note: console players can choose to uninstall specific game mode packs, such as for Campaign or Zombies, in order to reduce the game’s overall file size. This content can be managed in-game through the “Account & Network” section of the Settings menu.

PC: 35 GB (Multiplayer Only) / 82GB (Full Game) / 125GB (Full Game on Ultra Graphics)

Note: PC players can also choose to install specific game mode packs, such as for Campaign and Zombies, in order to reduce the game’s overall file size. Also note the updated PC file size numbers.

Don’t forget, if you pre-order the game on any platform, you’ll get two weapon blueprints available the moment you boot the game through the Confrontation Weapons Pack!

Confrontation Weapon Pack

Along with the Woods Operator pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® and WarzoneTM, digital pre-orders will receive the Confrontation Weapons Pack in Black Ops Cold War.

Available immediately once Create-a-Class is unlocked, the Confrontation Weapons Pack includes two rifles stylized to show the cultural divide between East and West Cold War forces.

Representing the U.S.S.R. is the Iron Curtain, an Assault Rifle based on an iconic Soviet heavy-hitting weapon. The other Blueprint, the Western Front, is a three-round burst Tactical Rifle with plenty of patriotic flare. Both Blueprints will include five pre-configured attachments, allowing you to experiment with these attachments before they are unlocked organically on that specific weapon.

These two Blueprints can be found and equipped through the Create-a-Class section of the Loadouts menu.

Regarding the 285GB report, we’ve reached out to Activision just to get to the bottom of it and if it’s an error on the packaging or something else. Note that these are launch file sizes, and most likely doesn’t include Call of Duty: Warzone as well, since it’ll be integrated into Black Ops Cold War in December.

Report: Black Ops Cold War PS5 Requires 285GB Minimum Space

While we already know that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a huge game in terms of data, it seems Black Ops Cold War will even be bigger — at least on PS5! Apparently, the first physical copies of the game are out in the wild, and it states that the Black Ops Cold War PS5 version requires a gargantuan 285GB of minimum disk space!

Here’s the image of the back of the case per Twitter user Kauution:

Note that given this hasn’t been confirmed by Activision, treat it with a grain of salt — at least for now. We’ve contacted the publisher, and if we get a reply, we’ll update the post.

Speaking of Black Ops Cold War, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X version is listed at just 100GB according to Microsoft. On the PS4 front, it’s now confirmed that players will be able to download the game in content packs again.

Given the PS5’s 1TB of HDD space can’t be used entirely for games, it’s a bit worrying that just one game can eat up more than 250GB, and that’s not even accounting for patches and whatnot as well.

The Best Battlefield Game of All-Time – Bad Company 2 vs. Battlefield 3

Just last week, I wrote a mini feature where I proclaimed that Battlefield 3 is the best Battlefield game of all-time. While a lot of people agreed to this, some pushed back hard, and more often than not, what people pointed out was nope, it’s not Battlefield 3, but rather, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 that was the best entry in the franchise.

With that in mind, let’s cut to the chase! We’ve set up a poll to ask readers which is the best Battlefield game of all-time — is it Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 3? You can also vote “neither” if you’re one of the few who thinks it’s Battlefield V or something.

To make things more interesting, aside from leaving a vote, we’re asking people to leave a comment as well! Leave a comment, tell us why your pick is the best Battlefield game of all-time. The best comment on the winning game will win a S10 gift card from us! It can be from Amazon, Steam, Xbox Live, or the PlayStation Store, and yes, this is open worldwide! We’ll ask the winner what currency they want the gift card to be in and what region.

Bad Company 2 vs Battlefield 3 poll:

Which Battlefield is the best of all-time?

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Battlefield 3
Neither

Created with Survey Maker

Got that? Good. We’ll be closing entries for the poll and gift card by this weekend, November 8! So make sure to comment before then. As an added layer of security, we prefer that those who leave comments have a Twitter/Facebook account and leave it along with your comment, so that we can direct message that social media account. This means that you won’t be required to leave your email address out in the open, and we won’t get shady emails saying they’re user1024 who left the winning comment.

Feel free to hit us up below for any questions and whatnot.

Black Ops Cold War PS4 Download to Be Split Into Content Packs

While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 ballooned to an unexpected size in terms of data, it did offer players the option to download and install which parts of the game they’re interested in playing via content packs. It looks like the Black Ops Cold War PS4 download will be the same, as there will be options to choose which files you want to download.

Over on Twitter, this was revealed by gamer MadmanoStrikes, who posted a screenshot of the PSN download featuring the pre-load date, and each content pack.

Black Ops Cold War PS4 download content pack sizes:

Dead Ops Arcade: 4.8gb
Campaign Pack 1: 13.5gb
Campaign Pack 2: 17.9gb
Campaign Pack 3: 11.5gb
Zombies Base Install: 3.8gb
Multiplayer Base Install: 10.6gb

All in all, the total size is around 62Gb, which is on the small size. However, don’t forget that for Modern Warfare, initiating the content pack download triggered another data download, which means that this 62GB will surely be bigger in total. On the Xbox One, we reported yesterday that it’s at a 100GB according to Microsoft.

In other Black Ops Cold War news, Activision has confirmed that we won’t be seeing an engine shift for Call of Duty: Warzone even if it’s integrated into Black Ops Cold War.

Black Ops Cold War will shoot its way out this November 13 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.

Star Wars Squadrons Update 1.05 November 4 Lets You Reset Rank & More (Update)

While Star Wars Squadrons pilots just got the free Mandalorian Supply Drop DLC last week, the folks over at Motive Studios has released the Star Wars Squadrons update 1.05 November 4 patch today, and this one gives players the option to reset ranks and more!

Check out the full update details below.

Star Wars Squadrons Update 1.05 November 4 Patch Notes:

Motive Studios has released the official notes for what the studio calls the “2.0 update” and it’s a big one!

To start things off, we’ve introduced a new mechanic for how matchmaking and lobbies work in our game. Here’s the rundown from Dan Kim, our Senior Systems Designer:

DanA new forfeit system has been implemented for Fleet Battles, replacing the old “Safe to Leave” and “Match Not Scored” system. We felt that the previous system was often difficult for players to understand and unduly punished well-behaved players after an abandonment occurred, with some players reporting that they felt robbed of wins, locked into pointless matches, or unrewarded for time already spent when leaving “safe to leave” games.

The new forfeit system puts control back into the players’ hands and allows players to decide which matches are worth fighting until the end and which are worth forfeiting. In either case, players will now be fully rewarded on all sides: players that defeat opponents through natural play or forfeit will now gain full skill points and progression rewards. Players that lose naturally after a teammate abandons or lose by forfeit will still gain full progression rewards but take only half the skill point losses. Meanwhile, players that abandon will be appropriately punished: abandoning the game after deployment always results in a loss and leaver penalties have been significantly increased.

Players will also notice that we have a new lobby backfill mechanic. While players are in the briefing room/hanger, we will attempt to backfill open slots, even in ranked games. Players that leave the game during the briefing room/hanger stage will not record a loss, but will still suffer some leaver penalty points (though not nearly as severe as abandoning the game after deploying into the map).

Overall, we hope that these changes will mean that players will play in full games much more often, and, when things do go wrong, players will still be properly rewarded for their time and feel more in control of their experience.

With that out of the way, let’s get into the rest of the notes! There were over 270+ fixes and tweaks in Update 2.0, so we decided to truncate some of the very minor or rare ones, especially ones most of you never experienced. Even with all that, these notes are long, so we’ve bolded a few that we think you’ll be most interested in.

GENERAL

  • Ranked Fleet Battle, Dogfight, and Co-op Fleet Battles vs AI now allow backfill while pilots are waiting in the briefing room/hangar
    • A timer prevents the briefing room/hanger from persisting forever. In the case that backfills cannot be found within the time limit, the server will close and players will be returned to the main menu without penalty
    • Players that leave the briefing room/hangar before the timer expires will receive a leaver penalty. Note that the penalty given for abandoning the game after deployment into the map is much more severe than the one given for leaving the briefing room/hangar
      • Reminder: Penalties can be lifted over time by completing matches
    • Players that leave the briefing room in this way will not cause the new forfeit option to be activated
    • Players that leave the briefing room in this way will not suffer a loss
  • Adjusted the brightness of the Star Destroyer’s engines when flying too close to them
  • Fixed an issue where PC players who use the minimum requirement GPU couldn’t launch the game due to older drivers
  • Many minor fixes and stability improvements across the entire game.

CAREER & CHALLENGES

  • Fixed an issue where the “Career Best” stat was inaccurate
  • Fixed an issue where the “Friend Ship” challenge couldn’t be claimed after completion.

CONTROLS

  • Fixed an issue where remapping inputs while multiple joysticks, such as an Xbox controller and a HOTAS, were connected could cause inputs on the inactive joystick to be unintentionally rebound
  • Fixed an issue where diagonal thumbstick movement was significantly hindered when using the Aviator control scheme/certain custom mappings
  • Fixed an issue where simultaneous inputs of opposite commands (e.g. yaw right and yaw left) would not act as intended
  • Fixed an issue where HOTAS controls would incorrectly interact with power management when free-look was active
  • We’ve made it so if a player changes their control configurations but forgets to hit save before the menu is closed, the game will remember the changes made so they can be saved upon opening the menu shortly after
  • Fixed an issue where the “Reconnect Dualshock” message could not be closed after reconnecting a Dualshock or HOTAS controller, such as after a controller falls asleep
  • Throttle can now be mapped to a HOTAS joystick
  • Fixed an issue where PS4 players using HOTAS would have a delay before their controls would respond after launching from the hangar
  • When rebinding HOTAS controls, we’ve reduced the sensitivity detection for the throttle and stick so that they don’t accidentally get mapped incorrectly
  • Fixed an issue where when using a joystick’s axis in the radial menus, diagonals wouldn’t work
  • Keyboard arrow keys can now be used to toggle different input selections
  • Fixed an issue where HOTAS dead zones couldn’t be manually set to exactly 50%
  • Added binding options for individual comms menu options
  • Fixed an issue where going to the PS4 dashboard would reset the throttle to 50%.

DOGFIGHT

  • Improved spawn points on Esseles to help players feel less separated from the fight when respawning
  • Fixed an issue where pilot banter and match music could continue into the End of Round screen rather than transition out naturally
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would crash due to a brief disconnect when transitioning into the match.

FLEET BATTLES

In addition to the updated lobby system, we’ve also implemented two other notable changes for Fleet Battles: Improved AI functionality (detailed below) to prevent AI farming issues and the option to reset your rank during this Operation.

The latter will help players who got stuck at Rank 0 get out of this state and also let players who have been able to rank normally reset themselves if they wish to since the Rank 0 issue may have unfairly calculated their skill rating when fighting affected players.

We’ve also included a change to Capital Ship behavior to make “mosquito-ing” (the act of hiding under a Capital Ship and dealing damage into it) less of an issue. This will reward the playstyle of players who are flying like proper mavericks. To those who aren’t, you’re much more likely to be blasted into oblivion now.

  • Added a rank reset option for Operation 1
    • Fully restart the game if changes don’t immediately show
  • We’ve updated AI starfighter morale values and positioning to prevent exploitative farming of them in Fleet Battles:
    • AI Starfighter paths have been repositioned in every map.
    • AI Starfighter morale values have been changed:
      • Gain 1 morale while on attack
      • Gain 4 morale while on defense
  • Capital ship turrets are now much more responsive to changes in player speed
    • Capital ship turrets are now much deadlier against players that are slow/close to capital ships and less deadly against players that are fast/far
  • Flagship turrets are now more aggressive when being attacked out of phase
  • Fixed an issue where players could end up with a negative skill rating
    • As mentioned previously, we will be removing Silver and Gold helmets from players who unlocked them due to this. Thanks for being so understanding!
  • Fixed an issue where the hologram would not correctly display in the briefing room
  • Fixed an issue where the flagships could begin to tilt while broadsiding on Esseles
  • Fixed an issue where the marker for the CR90 could disappear for Imperials after their Raider was destroyed
  • Fixed an issue where flagships could rotate unexpectedly after reaching their final positions
  • Fixed an issue where the CR90 would fly through the Nadiri Dockyards structure
  • Fixed an issue where the Imperial Raider could clip through a Nebulon-B
  • Fixed an issue where flagship hull and shield health UI would not update correctly
  • Fixed an issue where if the player killed an allied AI, the game would say their faction earned Morale rather than the enemy’s
  • Fixed an issue where two alarms could be heard in the final countdown before a match began.

PRACTICE

  • We’ve added additional obstacle courses for players to test their skills
    • Make Keo proud, mavericks
  • Fixed an issue where the game could infinitely load in the Practice mode
  • Fixed an issue where some sound effects wouldn’t play while changing starfighters or loadouts
  • Fixed an issue where opening the menu during the death cam would cause unintended behavior
  • Fixed an issue where the player could clip through the flagship
  • Fixed an issue where the audio would pause when using certain menus.

SOCIAL

  • Made the messaging clearer for when a player without crossplay enabled is invited by a player with crossplay enabled
  • Added a message to inform players the lobby is full when attempting to join on a friend
  • Fixed an issue where players who tried joining a full squadron would be put into a temporary lobby
  • Fixed an issue where the player could have the option to promote a friend to leader when they weren’t in the same party.

SPECTATOR

  • Fixed an issue where the Imperial cockpit could disappear briefly
  • Fixed an issue where spectating a game and then playing one right after could result in experiencing the wrong faction’s intro
  • Fixed an issue where cockpit elements would shift when changing camera angles
  • Fixed an issue where spectators could unintentionally see the VFX from the TIE fighter’s and interceptor’s engines from certain viewpoints
  • The player will now be notified when someone starts spectating them
  • Fixed an issue where the camera angles when viewing from capital ships had inverted controls when looking around.

STARFIGHTERS & PILOTS

  • TIE bombers have been rebalanced:
    • TIE bomber default hull decreased to 2000 (from 2500)
    • TIE bomber Reinforced Hull benefit decreased to +50% (from +60%)
  • Fixed an issue where Imperial torso cosmetics could reset
  • Fixed an issue where equipped emotes would reset
  • Adjusted the audio for Concussion Missiles so they aren’t overwhelmingly loud in some instances
  • Fixed a visual bug with the Bounty hologram
  • Fixed an issue where managing power could behave inconsistently when resetting distribution or converting
  • Fixed an issue where power management SFX could not be heard when using a keyboard
  • Improved the cockpit smoke effect to prevent pixelation
  • Fixed an issue where the pilot’s right hand could stay on the dashboard after getting out of an ionized state
  • Fixed an issue where the player would have to leave the customization menu and return to equip components or cosmetics
  • Fixed the very rare issue of the confirmation pop up not appearing after unlocking a component or cosmetic, preventing its use
  • Missiles can now be locked on to deployed turrets
  • Fixed an issue where, on occasion, player-deployed turrets would not fire their lasers
  • Fixed an issue where the VFX for rockets could be visible from inside the hull of the TIE fighter and interceptor
  • Fixed an issue where resupplies on AI would not heal them
  • Fixed an issue where the SFX for a starfighter exploding could be too loud in the kill cam
  • Adjusted the visuals of beam-based components to make them slightly less intense
  • Fixed an issue where missiles locked on to one target could switch to another target when the player changed who they were targeting
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s audio for their starfighter could cut out for abilities, boosting, and drifting.

STORY

  • Fixed an issue in Mission 11 where the player could not progress normally if a frigate was destroyed without detonating the clusters
  • Fixed an issue where the player would instantly die in the final mission of the game if they flew ahead of an objective before an asteroid would separate
  • Fixed an issue where the game could load infinitely if the player changed difficulties while playing
  • Fixed an issue where some assets were not correctly appearing during a cutscene in Mission 10
  • Fixed an issue in Mission 7 where the convoy could stop moving if the player didn’t complete the objective in time
  • Fixed an issue in Mission 9 where the player could get no response when requesting a resupply
  • Fixed an issue where Gunny could endlessly spin in Mission 1
  • Fixed an issue where the objective of boosting under the Star Destroyer would stay on-screen if the player cancelled the boost part-way through during the Rebel prologue mission
  • Made it clearer that starfighters have been resupplied after returning to and leaving the hangar
  • Fixed an issue where characters could lose their walking animations if the player skipped through dialogue
  • Fixed an issue in Mission 11 where cluster cores couldn’t be scanned from a distance of 1000m and had to be scanned from at least 500m
  • Fixed some minor dialogue issues
  • Dozens of other various minor bug fixes.

UI

  • Added the ability to turn off all tutorials
  • Improved the messaging to make it clearer which input was unbound when remapping controls
  • Fixed an overlap issue where the End of Round screen would be obstructed by the scoreboard if the player died at the end of the match
  • Fixed issue where players could not open the scoreboard after the match if they were dead when the match ended
  • Fixed an issue where the controls menu would show mouse and keyboard inputs instead of HOTAS buttons
  • Fixed an issue where the player level shown in the End of Round screen could be different from the players actual level
  • Fixed an issue where the kill feed would not accurately display kills caused by an Unstable Engine
  • Fixed a rare issue where the Stealth Hull’s stealth eye UI could take up a lot of the screen
  • Fixed an issue where the Emote Wheel was called the Comms Wheel when remapping controls
  • “Deploying in…” message added to the Briefing Room stage so players more clearly know when they’re about to start playing
  • Multiple minor UI improvements and tweaks.

VR

  • Fixed an issue where starfighter decals would only appear on one lens
  • Fixed the issue where the Kowakian Monkey Lizard hologram was not visible on PSVR
  • Made the player’s pilot model look less unnatural when looking around
  • Fixed an issue where explosions could appear at a lower visual fidelity than intended on the Ultra setting
  • Improved cinematics to reduce or eliminate flickering for VR users who were experiencing it
  • Fixed an issue where New Republic pilots’ radars are blank in the kill cam
  • Fixed an issue where sparks caused by astromechs repairing the starfighter would go in the wrong direction.

VS AI

  • We’ve adjusted the difficulty modifiers of the Easy difficulty setting after finding it was too hard to beat
  • Fixed an issue where the music could get stuck on one track
  • Fixed an issue where the enemy squadron was targeted by the “Target Enemy AI” option.

Here’s what Jay Ingram, Community Manager for EA, posted regarding today’s update:

Hey, pilots,

About a week ago, we deployed a very brief server-side maintenance and have confirmed that it has resolved the issue with players getting stuck at rank 0. However, this only prevents people from being affected moving forward, and players who are currently stuck in this state are still affected. Thankfully, we have a fix en route and wanted to give you all a heads up!

In Update 2.0 next week, we’ll be providing all players with the option to reset their rank. This means players unaffected by the bug won’t be forced to reset if they don’t want to. We know this has taken a while to get out, and for that, we apologize. The team has been working hard on getting this fixed as quickly as we can, but we know it’s put a damper on Fleet Battles for some of you.

Additionally, we also fixed the locked framerate issue on PC and the bug preventing players from completing Mission 9 in Update 1.3 that deployed alongside the Mando content. As a thank you for your understanding, we’ll be giving all players 1,200 Glory for being so patient while we’ve worked on resolving these, admittedly, very tricky bugs. The Glory will come after Update 2.0 is deployed and we’ve confirmed the ranked issue is no longer impacting players.

Thank you so much for hanging in there with us, pilots!

We’ll see you in the stars.

The tl;dr: Rank reset option, locked frame rate issue on PC fixed, and the bug preventing players from competing Mission 9 should all be fixed in today’s patch, as well as all players geting 1,200 Glory as a thank you gift! Note that the Glory gift will be rolling out once the rank issue has been confirmed to not be impacting players anymore.

If we spot anymore gameplay-related changes in today’s update, we’ll update the post.

Update: Motive Studios has released a huge info dump on today’s list of changes! We’ve updated the post to reflect ’em.

PS5 Leak Shows Off New Section of UI, 664GB Storage, & More (Update)

A fresh PS5 leak has surfaced, showing off a bit more of the UI along with the storage available on the console.

Twitter user @ABCYoungBoy posted a new video showing off the PS5 UI, amongst other things such as the console and controller. Down below you’ll get a quick overview of the UI, including what the setting section looks like on the PS5.

https://twitter.com/ABCYoungBoy/status/1323755930152968192

Interesting is that it appears that the setting section on the PS5 shares a very similar look to that found on the PS4 just in a different order. Down below is also another video (from a user on discord) showing the boot screen along with screenshots of the UI. The user also has GTAV installed on their system, though obviously the PS4 version.

As seen previously in the leaked UI image, the PS5 SSD will weight 664GB. This image comes from the same discord user, who says GTAV loads 5 to 10 seconds for single-player and 30 seconds for multiplayer.

The user hasn’t posted additional PS5 leaks, though we expect to see plenty more as we get closer to the launch. The PlayStation 5 officially launches on November 12 in select regions, and November 19 everywhere else.

Update (11/5/20): Sony has asked us to take down the system storage image.

Apex Legends Olympus Map Overview and Breakdown

In case you didn’t know, Respawn is introducing a new map in Apex Legends called “Olympus” in Season 7, which launches tomorrow. Respawn has today given us an Apex Legends Olympus map breakdown, pointing out areas of interests and more.

Apex Legends Olympus Map Breakdown:

Olympus seems to be a big map to traverse, and legends can do that with the Trident — the first vehicle ever in Apex Legends, and there’s also the Phase Runner.

The Trident is a squad-based, three-seater hover vehicle you can find on the outskirts of Olympus. These were made for large rotations throughout the map, especially in the early game. The Trident comes equipped with a boost feature that for a short time, can increase speed and help you get over obstacles. Try timing your boost with the jump ramps throughout for some serious air time!

These hover vehicles are designed for rotations and not combat, so you will not be able to run over and hurt players. If you choose to use this in combat, there are multiple options for other players to counter this. Arc Stars or Wattson’s fences, for instance, can stall the vehicle for a moment, giving their team time to punish. Since we’re a character-based game, we also wanted the Trident to feel like an extension of the player. For example, you can place certain tacticals onto the Trident itself (front or back). Want to place two Caustic gas barrels on the Trident? Go ahead! Mix and match specific tacticals depending on your playstyle. My favorite tactic is placing Rampart’s Sheila minigun on the back. It’s amazing – trust me.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you accidentally drive the Trident off the map, don’t worry! We have a safety net in place that will launch all players into the sky so you can safely land back onto Olympus. The Trident does not respawn, so please be careful!

Last but certainly not least is the Phase Runner; an industrial sized phase portal connecting three distinct areas of Olympus. This always-on, static portal will phase players to and from specific locations. If the ring is pushing you towards Hydroponics, and you’re stuck with no Trident in sight, hop into the Phase Runner to phase you to the other side of the map. However, be cautious when using these, as you have no clue what’s waiting for you on the other side. Players who are near these will see and hear a warning before other players come out. So be sure to always prepare for combat when using the Phase Runner!

We’ve also included screenshots and names of the points of interests in Olympus as well.

Arcadia Supercarrier

Docks

Primary Power Grid

Central Turbine

Autumn Estates

Hammond Labs

Energy Depot

Golden Gardens

For descriptions on each area by Respawn, head on over here.

While the update for Season 7 isn’t scheduled to drop until 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET on November 4, the patch notes are already out! Check them out to see what changes are coming to the game tomorrow.

Black Ops Cold War Xbox One & Xbox Series X File Size Listed at 100GB

If you were one of the many players who hated how big Call of Duty: Modern Warfare took up in your HDD, well, then, prepare for the trend to continue with Black Ops Cold War! The official Xbox Store has the Black Ops Cold War Xbox One & Xbox Series X listing for the game, and approximate size is at a 100GB!

You can check out the official listing yourself right here, and we’ve taken a screenshot of the Black Ops Cold War Xbox One & Xbox Series X file size as well.

Note that while this is listed as the “approximate” file size, the Xbox Store listing for game sizes are usually accurate, so we wouldn’t bet against the actual game file being this big as well. It’s unknown yet whether the PS4/PS5 file size will be similar, but chances are, it’ll be close.

Don’t forget, patches and post-launch content will hike this 100GB file size up significantly and fast!

Possibly the big question mark here is: does this 100GB contain Call of Duty: Warzone or not yet? If not, then players can expect this 100GB to balloon to up to 130GB if Warzone’s file size for current-gen platforms are to be used as a reference point. Speaking of Warzone, Activision has confirmed that Black Ops Cold War will integrate Warzone in its first season in December later this year.

Black Ops Cold War shoots out this November 13 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
