Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – Get To Play As Jack’s Doppelganger On November 11

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s worst kept secret, next to the second playable DLC character Aurelia The Baroness that is, is finally becoming playable starting on November 11, as stated by Gearbox during their panel at this year’s PAX Australia.

This, of course, is Borderland’s favorite tyrant, Handsome Jack. Well, not actually, as we will be able to play as his body double instead. Or, in this case, his “doppelganger”, who will able to summon digi-Jacks to help him fight.

The Doppelganger also has some pretty nifty skills such as being able to summon a bad-ass version of a digi-Jack and increase his damage output by just picking up money.

However, thanks to EvilSourceGaming, who managed to data mine the Doppelganger’s full skill tree, you can see what exactly the Doppelganger class has to offer in the video below:

[youtube id=”wldz3adZk6g”]

The Doppelganger class will be available for $9.99 USD if you didn’t purchase the season pass for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. For those who did, will receive the playable DLC class and all future DLC for at no extra charge.

Zombies Return In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Season Pass, Says GameStop

Looks like Zombie goers will have good reason to get in on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare‘s Season Pass this year, according to GameStop.

In a recent press release, the retailer announced that Zombies “are back as a apart of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass” in addition to new multiplayer maps and the Day Zero Atlas Gorge map. Leaks from earlier this week revealed that Zombies do indeed play a role, albeit a small one, in Advanced Warfare’s Exo Survival mode. But, as GameStop’s recent announcement suggests, more may be in store:

“This just in, Zombies are back as a part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass! Stop by any GameStop to pick up one of the most anticipated games to launch this year, along with 4-multiplayer map packs, Atlas Gorge, and yes – ZOMBIES. All this is available for purchase today at GameStop as part of the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Season Pass for $49.99.”

The Season Passes for Treyarch’s latest Call of Duty games have always included at least one dedicated Zombie survival map in each release, but it’s not clear exactly how Sledgehammer Games’ offering will differ.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s Day Zero Edition launches 12:01 Easter Time tonight on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Destiny’s The Dark Below DLC Will Offer Free Updates For Non Buyers Too

Some content in Destiny’s upcoming DLC, The Dark Below, will be made available for free to everyone when it launches later this December, Bungie announced today in its latest Weekly Update.

Those with Destiny’s Expansion Pass or who purchase the DLC separately for $19.99 will get the full deal, including all this:

  • 3 Story missions featuring new enemies and encounters in the Cosmodrome and Moon
  • Tower Character and Vendor, Eris, featuring new Quests, Bounties, and rewards
  • Exclusive Legendary Weapons and Armor
  • New Exotic Weapons
  • “Will of Crota” Strike
  • “Crota’s End” Raid
  • 3 Crucible Maps: Pantheon, Skyshock, and The Cauldron
  • Maximum Light Level increase to 32

But those who decide not to opt-in will still benefit from these updates, Bungie said:

  • Some new Weapons and Armor
  • New Daily Bounties
  • Five additional Bounty slots

Later in the update, Bungie community manager David “DeeJ” Dague shined some light on the new story telling techniques that will be employed in the new DLC.

“Quests are a new storytelling mechanism that we’re using in the Dark Below,” he explained. “They are multistage tasks that culminate in a reward, similar to the Exotic Bounties you may have experienced. Unlike Exotic Bounties, the Quests in the Dark Below can be completed by players who are solely focused on the cooperative story content of The Dark Below.

“For example, one Quest creates a continuous chain of multiple tasks that culminates in the ‘Will of Crota’ Strike. Another may simply ask you to return to Earth to take down the surging Hive threat.”

“This new way of storytelling in Destiny is a bit experimental in nature. We’ve seen players spending a lot of time in the Tower, and we’ve heard loud and clear that players would like more unique gear and additional Bounties. Eris is one part storyteller, one part Tower Vendor, and tens parts creepy.”

According to Dague, more details on upcoming The Dark Below content will be unveiled in the weeks ahead, including new updates to the base game.

The Dark Below launches December 9.

Evolve Big Alpha Postponed on PlayStation 4, Affected Users Get Free Access to Xbox One or PC Version

PlayStation 4 users anxious to try out Turtle Rock Studios’ 4v1 shooter Evolve for the first time are out of luck as technical issues involving the console’s latest firmware update 2.00 have urged the studio to postpone the Big Alpha, originally scheduled to launch today.

“We have some unfortunate news to share with folks planning to participate in the Big Alpha test on PlayStation 4 starting today,” Turtle Rock posted in an update on Evolve’s official website. “Following the recent PS4 2.00 firmware update, we are experiencing difficulties with the Evolve Big Alpha on PlayStation 4. As a result, the test on PlayStation 4 is postponed. PlayStation and 2K are working together on a resolution.”

For now, things are still going as planned for Xbox One and PC users, so the studio is offering any PlayStation 4 user with either console guaranteed access to the Alpha while a proper solution is worked towards.

If, you happen to have either kicking around, Turtle Rock urges you to follow these steps:

  1. Go to http://www.evolvegame.com/bigalpha
  2. Fill out the form completely including the registration code, referral code, and a valid email
  3. Check your email for an official invite with your product voucher code
  4. Redeem the product voucher code on the platform of your choice to download the game
  5. Registration Code: 05379-29749-32069
  6. Referral Code: EvolveBigAlpha4v1

More updates are definitely on the way while things get sorted out, so be sure to follow @EvolveGame on Twitter for quick updates. We’ll also provide new news as it comes in.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s Bloody Harvest Celebration Event Now Live

As we previously reported, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford hinted at a very special in-game event for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel kicking off soon. Following up on the news, Pitchford has made good on his promise.

This in-game event, now live as of this writing, is none other than Borderland’s own version of the Halloween festival, Bloody Harvest, which will see some Halloween-themed aesthetics taking over the Pre-Sequel.

2217966c440a4e3448163246ad7a04cdb554fceb

Scavs, for example, are getting a pretty frightening make-over, and much more. One of the first bosses you face in the game, Deadlift, is also getting a new moniker to fit the event, “Un-Deadlift”. In addition, he will also have the chance to drop the unique Torgue Jack-O’-Cannon shotgun.

The Bloody Harvest in-game event won’t last long, as it’s expected to expire on November 2. For those who also want to participate, having a internet connection while playing the game is required in order have the Bloody Harvest event active.

Report – Zombies in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Are All But Confirmed

As you may or may not have seen by now, a cutscene in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was leaked earlier today that has all but confirmed the presence of zombies in the Sledgehammer Games’ upcoming shooter.

The video in question, which has now been removed from a number of hosting services, clearly shows our heroes attempting to escape a massive zombie attack in a location that looks similar to Advanced Warfare’s Riot multiplayer map.

While it doesn’t quite confirm that a fourth, Zombie-related game mode will be present in Advanced Warfare, it’s likely that it instead has more to do with the rumored “Bonus Wave” in the game’s cooperative Exo Survival mode, as suggested by an Xbox Achievement / PlayStation Trophy called “Exo Survivor” that was leaked earlier, sporting art that also clearly depicts a zombie attack.

Zombies have made quite a name for themselves in the Call of Duty series since their debut in Treyarch’s Call of Duty: World at War. The wave-based survival mode has since become a staple of the more recent Black Ops series. Last year, Infinity Ward took a more extraterrestrial approach with Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Extinction mode, but it didn’t appear to resonate with fans as deeply. Now, it looks like zombies fans will have something exciting to look forward to in Advanced Warfare.

Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield reacted to the leak on Twitter:

Today’s footage is likely still out there, if you look for it, but it does contain some very ‘spoilerific’ material. So, search at your own discretion.

That said, Advanced Warfare is mere days away, so if you can hold out just a little longer until this Monday, November 3 for the Day Zero Edition, (or November 2 in some stores), it might be worth saving yourself the spoilers.

Update

According to leaked gameplay footage obtained by TheTechGame, the cutscene indeed plays after surviving the bonus zombie round in Exo Survival on the map Riot, which plays out similar to the way Treyarch’s Zombies modes do.

Upon completion, players are allegedly returned to the Exo Survival menu with a congratulatory message.

Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition Postponed Until Further Notice, Says Sony President

Those who have been eagerly awaiting for the PlayStation Plus Edition of Evolution Studios’ PS4-exclusive racer, Driveclub, might be disappointed to know that Sony has no definite date of release as they continue to work on plaguing server issues.

In a Facebook statement Issued by The President of Sony World Wide Studios, Shu Yoshida, the company apologized for the inconvience and stressed about the server connection issues that have been plaguing Driveclub since release.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to provide you with the latest update on DRIVECLUB. Unfortunately, the road to launch has been a little rocky, and we are truly sorry that so many of you have not been able to enjoy everything that we had hoped DRIVECLUB would deliver.

We have been listening to your feedback and realize that patience understandably is running out. Evo is working around the clock to close the gap, and we have deployed additional engineering resources to help resolve the remaining issues as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the time frames required to roll out the fully connected experience will be longer than anticipated and we do not have an exact time frame for when they will be resolved. We will continue to update you on progress and you can find the latest info on the DRIVECLUB Facebook page.

We are also very conscious that we have disappointed so many of you who were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.

On behalf of WWS we are enormously grateful for your patience and we thank you for the continued support and encouragement. Again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. We are committed to giving you the best racing experience on PS4 – it’s taking a little longer than we hoped.

Thanks,

Shu

This certainly isn’t what many wanted to hear, as the game had originally been planned as a PS4 launch title, only to be delayed at a later date and then launch with issues. Keep your sights on MP1st for more updates.

Retailers Opening Early For Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Launch on West Coast

Various popular retailers in North America are ignoring time zones for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare‘s launch and are opening up early for Central and West Coast folk.

Both BestBuy and GameStop have announced that they will be opening doors at 12:01 Eastern time for Advanced Warfare’s Day Zero launch on the morning of Monday, November 3. The timing applies nation-wide, however, meaning those in Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zones will be able to get their hands on the game a little earlier. On the West Coast, doors open at 9:01PM on Sunday, November 2, for example. Those way out on the island in Hawaii can get it at 6:01PM.

What’s more is BestBuy has announced that buyers lining up at one of their 800 locations do not even need to have placed a pre-order to purchase the game. Sounds like an Advanced Warfare Day -1 Edition for all, which also goes for Xbox One users who’ve pre-ordered and pre-loaded the game.

Far Cry 4 Multiplayer Dubbed “Battle of Kyrat”, Watch The Reveal Trailer

Far Cry 4 has officially gone Gold, and to celebrate this announcement, Ubisoft has released a brand-new trailer detailing the new Far Cry 4 Multiplayer modes.

As stated on Ubisoft’s blog, this year’s entry will be a true Far Cry experience when it comes to the multiplayer, meaning you’ll have many of the elements from the core single-player game, such as vehicles and animals, all interacting in the multiplayer modes. The multiplayer takes place during a long-past war that Pagan (the main antagonist) and his men (the Rakshasa) fought against a rebellion group known as the Golden Path Rebellion. The two factions will be playable, and each will offer a different play-style from one another as shown in the trailer above.

A summary of the Multiplayer modes:

  • 5v5 round-based matches.
  • Asymmetrical gameplay where the players take on each faction. The team with the best overall performance on both wins the match.
  •  20 minutes average match length.
  • 10 maps at launch
  • Three modes:
    • Outpost – the Golden Path works to establish an outpost in the region while the Rakshasa has to get rid of them and secure the outpost for Pagan Min.
    • Propaganda – the Golden Path has to destroy three Pagan Min installations while the Rakshasa protects them.
    • Demon Mask – both sides have to find the mask and return it to their home base.

Far Cry 4 is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on November 18th in North America, and on the 20th in Europe.

What’d you think of the trailer? Leave your comments below.

Insurgency – New “Nightfall” Update Now Available on Steam for Free, Check Out the Patch Notes

Insurgency‘s latest game update, which also happens to be its biggest one yet, it now available for free on Steam.

As you might have gathered from New World Interactive’s gameplay presentation earlier this week, the new update, dubbed “Nightfall”, adds brand new gameplay elements by introducing night variants of pre-existing maps, including a day and night variant of a new map, Verticality.

The new theme puts emphasis on gadgets like the night-vision goggles and flare guns and creates challenging new experiences in the new cooperative Survival game mode.

According to NWI Founder and Game Director Jeremy Blum, “Night warfare is intense and sometimes scary in Insurgency. The Survival game mode has proven to be a great addition to the game, catering to players interested in a compelling cooperative experience that focuses on scavenging and evasion rather than progressing linearly through a map.”

A new party system lets players form a lobby and join multiplayer matches as a group. The feature is still in its early stages, however, so expect new updates down the road, including competitive matchmaking.

Lastly, many weapons have be overhauled with new sounds and animations while two new weapons, the AK-74 and M4A1, have also made the cut.

The studio has supplied a full list of patch notes so you know exactly what’s new in Insurgency’s free Nightfall update. Have a look below:

Insurgency Nightfall Update

Content

  • New map: Verticality.
  • Added night versions of existing maps.
  • Added several Hunt maps: Peak, Sinjar and Verticality.
  • New cooperative game mode: Survival (currently supported on Market and District only).
  • New equipment: Night vision goggles and flare gun. Available on night maps, NVGs are unique to each team.

  • Added bipod to M16A4 for Designated Marksman class.
  • Updated flashlight and laser sight models.
  • Added equipment sounds to ADS, lean and weapon raise & lower.
  • Added Infiltrate to Uprising

Features

  • New party system in initial stage of implementation. Players can now form a lobby and all join a server together. The system will be further expanded upon in the coming months, and will eventually include a competitive matchmaking system where one party can face off against another.
  • Multiple grenade slots.
  • Added rich presence to in-game friends list which allows you to see the map and mode they are playing on.
  • Lens dirt post-processing shader.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Checkpoint:
    • Bots are now able to re-capture a control point during a counter-attack. Losing the point will also end the round.

    • Added silhouette system to bots to prevent players from being spotted easily on dark maps.
    • Bots can now go prone.

  • A longer countdown timer will be used when the game switches teams between rounds (mp_timer_preround_switch).
  • ins_foliage entity will now make a rustling sound when players run through it.
  • Improved radial command system to provide harsher cooldowns for players spamming commands. A longer delay is used for spotting.

  • Overview map self indicator
  • Fixed team text chat.
  • Water explosion effects now happen on the surface of the water.
  • Fixed soundscapes and packed nav files not working in Workshop maps.
  • Removed damage force from incendiary grenades so dropped weapons won’t dance around in their radius.
  • Fixed “double firing” that sometimes happened on grenade launchers.

User Experience Enhancements

  • Switching from a crouch hold to a crouch toggle will no longer make you stand up.
  • Updated localizations for Dutch, Russian and Polish.

  • You can now open the ESC menu while viewing the initial squad selection screen.

Stability Fixes and Optimization

  • Many optimizations and crash fixes to the bot code.

Modding Changes

  • Server-side Workshop:
    • Add cvar sv_workshop_mapcycle_start to allow admins to turn off automatic mapcycle starting.
    • Add command line arguments as alternative to cvars: -workshop (enables workshop), -nowsmapcycle (disable starting a mapcycle), -wsrandom (generate mapcycle in random order).
    • Fixed problems downloading files with spaces in their file name as it was inconsistent with the way the client downloaded them..
  • You can now upload files larger than 100MB.
  • You are no longer forced to use your own Workshop content. You can subscribe to your own files if you wish to use them.
  • A map file can now define in the cpsetup script which navmesh file to use through the “navfile” key designates the nav file without an extension. See the Survival maps for an example.
  • To support NVGs in your night map, you need to add a “theater_conditions” block under your cpsetup script with “?nightmap” “1”. This theater conditions system can be expanded upon in the future to add map-dependant conditions to theater scripts.
  • Weapon upgrades in theater can now define a “length” and “weight”.
  • Fixed an odd problem with theater scripts where normal explosion FX and the underwater one were flipped.
  • point_viewcontrol_multiplayer can be used in maps.
  • Added early Vscript support.

Take a Tour of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s New Companion App, Available November 3

Launching along side Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare next week is the new and improved Call of Duty Companion App, your main hub for creating and managing Clans and participating in Advanced Warfare’s Clan Wars.

As explained in the latest overview trailer (above), Clan Wars pits you and your team against competing Clans of similar size and skill on specific control points on a map. As in last year’s Call of Duty: Ghosts, Clans must win matches in a particular multiplayer mode in order to capture and defend a target, rewarding you with an XP bonus and extra Clan points. The Clan with the most points at the end of the War wins.

On the line are exclusive character customization options, including gear like the Centurion Exo Suit, pictured below:

The app’s War Room lets you manage your overall Clan experience, allowing you to view active and upcoming Clan Wars, your Clan Wars history, and the top performing members in your Clan. The app also lets you customize your Clan Emblem or Player Emblem on the go, which then syncs to your game.

Additional features include, Clan Chat, Clan Profile, and Player Profiles.

343 Industries Explains Halo: The Master Chief Collection Ranking System

With Halo: The Master Chief Collection right around the corner, developer 343 Industries is taking a moment to explain just how you’ll be ranking up in multiplayer throughout all four included Halo titles.

“Each playlist within Halo: The Master Chief Collection uses an independent skill-based ranking system that is identical to the leveling system from the original Halo 2,” a studio representative recently told IGN.

“The system uses the same exact XP requirements as the original Halo 2; players will earn XP when they win and lose XP when they lose, and total XP will determine their rank. You will have a skill-based ranking per each playlist; we ultimately decided not to have a ‘master’ ranking across all four games combined, given that player skill and approach varies radically between game chapters.”

“Additionally, we’ve also modified matchmaking to use skill detection, which will put players into the fairest matches faster than any Halo game to date,” a studio spokesperson continued. “In ranked hoppers, players will be evaluated after each match and can go up or down in ranks depending on how well they perform. Social matches [Ed. note: read: ‘unranked’] will also be available for players who prefer a more relaxed play experience.”

You’ll be able to start working your way to max rank in Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4 multiplayer when Halo: The Master Chief Collection drops this November 11 on Xbox One.

If you haven’t yet, check out the game’s recently outed cinematic launch trailer, featuring brand new cut-scenes from Halo 2 Anniversary.

Check Out These Trippy Battlefield 4 Halloween Easter Eggs in CTE

Developers at DICE LA are getting into the spirit of things this Halloween weekend with a couple of fun-filled easter eggs that Battlefield 4 users in the game’s CTE program are beginning to discover.

Two Halloween-themed oddities have been discovered thus far, one on Silk Road in the China Rising DLC, and one on Pearl Market in the Dragon’s Teeth DLC.

The first, originally discovered by user HwanZike, is the more hidden of the two, requiring players to initiate a bombing raid on any of China Rising’s DLC maps. What ensues after activating it is hella trippy. We’ll just leave it at that.

Things take a spookier turn on Pearl Market, which CTE users will now notice takes place at night, rather than during the day. There are also a few pumpkins lying around begging for a smashing.

Battlefield fan DANNYonPC sent us a couple of videos highlighting these easter eggs, so if you’re not a participant of the CTE, you can at least see what they’re all about. The footage is shot in “cinematic” 30 FPS, so you’ll need to click on each video’s setting button and change the ‘Speed’ to ‘2’. The sound quality, however, it a bit bugged, at the moment.
