With Elden Ring’s success, it’s very much surprising that we haven’t gotten any paid expansions for it outside of the incoming Shadow of the Erdtree set for release this June. While what we’re about to get is a meaty expansion, don’t expect anything more in terms DLC after that, as FromSoftware has confirmed that it’s the “first and only” DLC planned for the hit action-RPG.
This was mentioned by Mitazaki Hidetaka, game director of Elden Ring. Speaking to Chinese publication zhuanlan-zhihu (via Google Translate), Hidetaka states that Shadow of the Erdtree is the first and last DLC, and they are no plans to add more content to Elde Ring.
Q: Is “Shadow of the Golden Tree” the only DLC for “Elden’s Ring”? If not, are there any other arrangements that can be disclosed?
A: It is the first and last DLC. We have no plans to add more content to “Elden Ring”. But it has not yet been decided whether the entire story of “Elden’s Ring” will be the focus. Fromsoftware’s style of doing things is that it generally does not allow the future of an IP to be easily locked, but it is better to leave some possibilities. But as far as “Shadow of the Erdtree” is concerned, it is the only DLC.
In terms of the DLC’s narrative, Hidetake confirmed that whatever ending you got for Elden Ring won’t affect the narrative of the DLC. Also regarding endings, don’t expect the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion to feature as many endings as the base game, though players will still face “choices” during the game.
Q: Will the ending chosen by the player in the main story have a different impact on the narrative of the DLC? Does the DLC have multiple endings?
A: DLC is an independent existence, so the player’s choice in this article will not affect the DLC story. As for the ending, there is actually no so-called “end” or “end”. Of course, the DLC will not have as many endings as the main body, but players will still have to face some “choices” during the game.
Earlier today, Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony announced that very soon, all Helldivers 2 players on PC will need to create a PlayStation Network (PSN) account that they will need to link to their Steam ID in order to continue playing the game.
Naturally, this hasn’t sat well with the current playerbase, as the Helldivers 2’s Steam page has been review bombed, and instead of sitting at a positive rating, it is currently now at “Mixed,” with multiple gamers citing the account linking requirement as the cause of the downvote.
Over on Twitter, Arrowhead Game Studios boss Johan Pilestedt is aware of the backlash, and has mentioned that they are “discussing” with Sony on a possible solution to this.
We are discussing that question with our partners at PlayStations and trying to find a solution.
That Twitter/X user (Randouglas) does make a fair point: what will you do if you can’t make a PSN account? Just refund the game? What about the hours upon hours of lost progress then? Hopefully, Sony finds a middle ground to this (perhaps linking a player’s Steam to PSN seamlessly without giving out more info and whatnot?), or it will be a very long month for Helldivers 2 players.
With how this situation is heating up, we’re keeping a close eye on it. Interesting to see how the upcoming Polar Patriots Warbond will be received this coming week given all this drama.
While XDefiant was announced as coming to last-gen, current-gen consoles and PC, multiple tests have been conducted, and not once was it available on last-gen. As it turns out (and as expected), the XDefiant PS4 and Xbox One versions have been cancelled.
This was confirmed by the official XDefiant Twitter/X account in answering a fan who asked about the PS4 version after yesterday’s release date announcement.
Thanks for the question! We wanted to keep a consistent standard of quality for the game, so we made the decision to focus only on current gen consoles. Appreciate the understanding!
This is the first direct confirmation from Ubisoft of XDefiant’s last-gen future. Originally, the company mentioned how they are pushing for current-gen (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) and PC versions first, and once that’s out, the last-gen console versions will be released. However, given the multiple tests, and not even mentioning the last-gen versions at all in any capacity in over a year, we now have confirmation that if you want to play XDefiant, you will need a current-gen console or capable PC.
Honestly speaking, I am not surprised. Given how the shooter had multiple bumps even before nailing a release date, optimizing the game and making sure it runs smoothly on five platforms instead of just three seemed liked a huge undertaking. Not to mention that last-gen consoles are now over 10 years old, and would probably gimp the current-gen versions if Ubisoft forced the situation given that parity is needed for game balance and whatnot.

For the new players joining the Helldivers 2 party on PC (via Steam(, you’ll have to connect your Steam account to a PlayStation Network account starting May 6.
This was announced by Arrowhead Game Studios today where the studio explained that due to “technical issues” at the launch of the game, they made the linking requirements for Steam entirely optional.
Current Steam players who are already playing Helldivers 2, you will see a mandatory login from May 30 and will also be required to have linked a Steam and PlayStation Network account by June 4. According to the studio, this is being done as a requirement as account linking is a “critical role in protecting our players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games.”
Arrowhead adds that this is their “main way to protect players from griefing and abuse by enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behaviour.” Furthermore, it also allows those players that have been banned the right to an appeal.
For those who want to create a free PlayStation Network account, you can do so here.
Not sure how the PC player base will receive this news, but at the very least, it’s a minor inconvenience, no? That said, I can still see some people getting bummed at this requirement. Now, imagine if the rumor that Helldivers 2 will land on Xbox and this is also a requirement? Now that would be hilarious.
In other Helldivers 2 news, a new Warbond called the Polar Patriots is dropping next week, and here’s what it contains.
Epic Games has released Fortnite update 4.24 today for version 29.40. You can expect to see a ton of new Star Wars content in today’s update to celebrate May 4th. Please read the official patch notes for May 3 posted down below.

Help the Rebels survive by building up the Rebel Village and using tools like Lightsabers, DL-44 Blasters, and Thermal Detonators to deal with any foes you may encounter.
While aiding the Rebellion, make progress in the LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure which has free and premium rewards inspired by Tatooine!
START YOUR REBEL ADVENTURE
The Galactic Empire is in hot pursuit of a band of Rebels, who need your help! The Empire and Rebels are unknowingly heading to a rift to your world, which will lead them to a new island in your world. This island will stick around even after v29.40!
REBELLION BUILDIN’
Before investigating the Empire crash site, you should check on your Rebel allies. You’ll receive a pair of Macrobinoculars after the crash, which will point you to the Rebel Village! This rinky-dink shelter on “Star Wars Island” needs your help becoming a full-on Rebel headquarters.

If you plan to become a local hero, don’t worry about saying goodbye to your Rebel neighbors anytime soon — the Rebel Village will remain beyond v29.40!
CRASH THE CRASH SITE

Fixed the Wolverine Slash Goal Explosion so the background behind the goal does not overlap and obscure the explosion.
Fixed a bug preventing Monstercat Antennas from being used on third-party Car Bodies.

That’s about it. While this patch only housed fixes, we are getting something new later this month and in September 2024 per the game’s roadmap.
If you haven’t played the game yet, go read our review where we state, “After almost two decades, this is a nice jumping in point for Persona newcomers, and a lovingly-crafted remake for fans.”
Following the massive Lords of the Fallen content drop titled “Master of Fate” last week, developer HexWorks has today pushed out Lords of the Fallen update 1.045, and as one might expect, this has been released primarily for fixes from issues and feedback from the previous big patch. Those on PC will see this as LOTF patch version 1.5.36, and the official patch notes are available below.
Lords of the Fallen Update 1.045 Patch Notes for Version 1.5.36:
Greetings Lampbearers,
With the first update after releasing VERSION 1.5 ‘Master of Fate’ we are reacting to findings from both our own and community-led investigations to improve the overall gameplay experience.
Coffer
Fixed an issue that prevented players from transferring items from their Coffer into their Inventory.
Environment
Fixed a visual glitch caused by a mud asset near Shrine of Adyr.
Fixed an issue that allowed players to escape an invasion area by jumping on environment assets near the cemetery close to the Shrine of Adyr.
Performance
Increased the Shader Compilation timer to 10 minutes to allow for longer shader compilation one lower end hardware. We also updated the Shader Compilation text to indicate that this process can happen on every game start.
Crash
Fixed a rare crash that could occur in multiplayer invasions under special circumstances.
While nothing has been confirmed by HexWorks just yet, it seems that after Master of Fate, the studio is moving on to their next project, which is rumored to be the sequel for LOTF titled “Death of the Fallen.”
After months of waiting, Ubisoft has finally (finally!) nailed down the XDefiant release date and it’s on May 21 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. This is called the pre-season of the free-to-play shooter, and players can expect a plethora of weapons, modes and more to be part of the initial launch.
Date: May 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Ubisoft Connect)
The tl;dr version:
Five different game modes
14 maps
24 weapons
44 attachments
Five factions
Five Game Modes:
Domination – Teams fight to control three fixed zones
Occupy – Teams fight to control one zone that periodically moves around the map<
HotShot – Players fight to get the most KOs. However, in HotShot, points are only granted (or denied) when players collect tags from fallen foes (or allies)
Zone Control – The attacking team works to secure five zones in a progression across the map, and the defenders fight to stop them
Escort – The attacking team must bring a package to its final destination across the map, while the defenders attempt to stymie their progress, and even push the package back
14 Maps:
Arena
Attica Heights
Dumbo
Echelon HQ
Emporium
Liberty
Mayday
Meltdown
Midway
Nudleplex
Pueblito
Showtime
Times Square
Zoo
24 Weapons:
Assault Weapons
M4A1 – This full-auto M16 variant is a solid all-rounder with minimal recoil, so it’s easy to put multiple shots on target.
AK-47 – The AK-47 is a challenging weapon to use and combines best-in-class damage with a low rate of fire and relatively poor handling. At longer ranges, only skilled hands and burst fire can tame its recoil.
M16A4 – A burst-fire assault rifle that’s easy to wield but tricky to master, the M16A4 excels at long-range engagement — although skilled shooters can aim its bursts to great effect for up-close skills.
ACR 6.8 – The ACR 6.8 is a great pick for those who like to engage at longer ranges and offers a good mix of damage and handling. Watch out for horizontal recoil.
SMG
MP5A2 – All SMGs excel at close-range battles, but if you want something more flexible, the MP5A2 is best-in-class for medium-range effectiveness.
Vector .45 ACP – A high-risk, high-reward pick with an insane rate of fire and damage potential. Handling is tough, so you’ll need to get up close. Keep an eye on your ammo count because it goes fast.
P90 – A well-rounded SMG. The P90 hits harder than the MP7, is easier to control than the Vector, and has the largest default magazine capacity.
MP7 – The quick-handling, high-rate-of-fire MP7 is ideal for flankers who want to get in close and unload a hail of bullets.
Shotguns
M870 – Extreme stopping power, good mobility, and the low rate of fire you expect from a pump-action shotgun. Get up close and don’t miss.
Double Barrel – Packs a punch even at long range, but that reward comes with risks. It holds just two shells, and it’s easy to fire them quickly in the heat of the moment. Make ’em count; reloading is not a fast process.
AA-12 – The full-auto AA-12 shotgun may be a handful, but nothing clears a room faster. Hopefully the threats are gone when it’s time to reload
LMG
M249 – This versatile light machine gun can accept both belt-fed and box magazines, offering the choice between large ammo capacity or improved mobility and reload times.
RPK-74 – Like the M60, the RPK-74 hits hard. It’s your pick if you want to deliver fully auto damage at long range without sacrificing much move speed or reload time. Recoil can be a handful.
M60 – This hard-hitting LMG can mow down groups of enemies with its 100-round magazine, but the tradeoff is slow movement speed and reloads that last an eternity.
Marksman
MK 20 SSR – This semi-auto cousin of the ACR rewards accurate players with good mobility and headshot potential. Straddles the gap between assault rifle handling and sniper rifle lethality.
SVD – Think of the SVD as a lightweight sniper rifle. It’s more mobile, has a higher rate of fire, and it’s easier to put multiple shots on a target, but then it also takes more hits to kill.
Sniper
M44 – The bolt-action M44 has been around forever thanks to good range and handling. But modern snipers like the TAC 50 do more damage per shot.
TAC-50 – This hard-hitting sniper rifle is one-and-done if you land a body shot. It’s also heavy, with slow aim-down-sights time, low mobility, and major recoil.
Note: Pistols and secondaries not listed
Factions Available at Launch:
Cleaners – Pyro Technicians (The Division)
Echelon – Super Spies (Splintercell)
Libertad – Freedom Fighters (Far Cry 6)
Phantoms – Future Soldiers (Ghost Recon Phantoms)
Dedsec – Cyber Attackers (Watch Dogs)
In addition to the info above, Ubisoft has also revealed the game’s Year One Roadmap stating that players will get one new map every season and more.
Based on what we’ve played so far during the server test from last month, arcade shooter fans will have something to get excited about later this month. Expect a host of XDefiant coverage here on MP1st!

Windows Central’s Jez Corden (who has made predictions correctly in the past), has now mentioned how he believes that “all” Xbox first-party games like Halo, Forza are headed to PlayStation! In the XB2 Discord channel (spotted by ResetEra’s Tommi813), Corden mentions how in the future, Xbox will likely be more “Steam-like” in the sense that games will be more affordable, more sales, and will be more open to devs.
As for the future of Xbox hardware, Corden mentions how he thinks it’ll be more niche like the Steam Deck, and future Xbox consoles will be for fans who want it. In addition to that, Corden also believes that the next Xbox will also side-load Steam. Allegedly, Microsoft might go this route since they don’t think they will “ever grow in hardware.” Corden adds, “Nobody wanted to give Xbox a chance, so this is what they get with a Sony monopoly.”
Now, keep in mind, this is just one man’s opinion, and it’s not to be taken as any sort of leak or confirmation of Xbox’s plans. Still, Corden has been pretty on-the-nose in the past about Xbox’s future, and has even leaked some things accurately himself, so we thought it might be worth sharing.
If Xbox really were to change their strategy this significantly, I personally think it’d be to their benefit. While they’ve still seen some success with their own console line, their lack of compelling exclusives has been a talking point for years now. In recent years, Xbox seems to have changed their tune to be more about bringing gaming to as many people as possible, and that’s a respectable goal. This could be their way of “falling on the sword” in their competition against Sony and taking the big step of sharing their platform-specific titles.
It remains to be seen whether Xbox will ever actually take the actions that Corden thinks they will. Still, we’ll be sure to let our readers know the second they do.

Arrowhead Game Studios is primed to bring players another stream of content in Helldivers 2 next week! Bug slayers will be getting the Helldivers 2 Polar Patriots new Warbond on May 9, and it contains new weapons, cosmetic items and more.
Helldivers 2 Polar Patriots New Warbond Content:
NEW WEAPONS:
AR-61 Tenderizer
A real tentacle-tearer. This high calibre assault rifle has awesome stopping power but limited magazine size, so make each shot count. Unpatriotic “banter” shots are not advisable.
SMG-72 Pummeler
A slower rate of fire than your other SMGs but these concussive rounds will leave your enemies dazed, confused, and still very ugly. Good things come to Helldivers who wait.
PLAS-101 Purifier
Set the trap. Hold the trigger. Let them charge at you. Smile. They’re getting closer. Smile again. Closer. Smile. Closer. Smile. Closer… and release the trigger. S.P.L.A.T. The longer you can hold your nerve, and the trigger, the bigger the damage.
NEW SECONDARY WEAPONS/UTILITY BOOSTER:
G-13 Incendiary Impact
Don’t waste time reading the instructions, lob it at the enemy and run. This thing detonates on impact and ignites the area in white phosphorus, so make sure you – and your allies – are not standing around having a chat.
P-113 Verdict
The guys in R&D love this one. Gas-operated, semi-automatic, and chambers the largest centrefire cartridge of any lunpistol of its kind. “Rapid Deliberation”, they call it. Quick-draw to look cool in front of your squad.
Motivational Shocks
Literally shocks Helldivers back into action after being hit and slowed by sneaky, unjust attacks like the revolting bug acid vomit. Won’t help you much with area effects like EMS strikes, though.
ARMOR:
CW-36 Winter Warrior
Blend into snowy environments with perfect camouflage. The enemy will never see you coming, until it’s far too late. Ah the sweet smell of stealth. Passive boost – Serve-assisted.
CW-22 Kodiak
Thoroughly pressure-tested by patriotic volunteers as part of the Test Subjects for Super Earth Citizen Advancement Programme. Their sacrifice shall not be forgotten. Passive boost – Fortified.
CW-4 Arctic Ranger
Features a nifty utility belt boasting handy pockets that can be filled with any number of things – pocket knives, mementoes, interesting rocks, Terminid tentacles, bits of bots, etc.
CAPES:
Dissident’s Nightmare
Scientifically proven to be “terrifying” to dissent-afflicted citizens during extensive testing in Patriotic Rehabilitation Centres.
Pinions of Everlasting Glory
All but ensures ascension to the immortal ranks of those enshrined in the Super Earth Digital Archive of Valorous Acts.
Order of the Venerated Ballot
Adorned with the insignia of the Order of the Venerated Ballot – a Ministry-sanctioned Patriot’s Club for citizens pledging to preserve the sanctity of voting.
Players can also expect new emotes! The Mime Instrumentation, Call the Helldivers and Distribute Ballots emotes will be available with the new Warbond as well.
Expect a game update for the new Warbond to be released, unless Arrowhead included the data for it in today’s title update.
With today’s release of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone’s Season 3 Reloaded, some dataminers have found new files in the game that may reference several crossovers. Most notably is the potential of a Call of Duty x Fallout crossover, which would be very timely considering the show’s recent success.
The post notes crossover files for Gundam and The Crow, which are exciting. However, the most intriguing part is the reference to Fallout within the files. These files are prepped for Season 4, which is set to arrive in a few weeks, meaning that we could see them very soon.
In terms of potential content for a Fallout crossover, we imagine vault suits or Brotherhood of Steel armor would pair pretty nicely with other cosmetics from the game. Alternatively, we could see characters like The Ghoul from the Prime TV adaptation make an appearance. There’ll likely also be weapon blueprints to mimic some of the game’s more popular firearms or melee weapons, such as the iconic 10mm pistol.
As always, take this news with a grain of salt. Until we see the official announcement, it’s possible that these could be placeholder files or that the Fallout file specifically could be referring to a more general concept. Only time will tell what actually makes it to the game.
Of course, if this is legit, we wouldn’t be surprised. Given that Microsoft now owns both franchises (among countless others) with the acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision-Blizzard, we would be shocked if they didn’t capitalize on more crossovers in the future. Can you imagine how much cosmetics and other in-game items Microsoft can sell? Yeah, the sky’s the limit (not saying it’s a good thing).
Xbox also recently teased a Call of Duty presentation set to follow their June Xbox Games Showcase. You can read about that at this link.
