Genshin Impact Update 3.50 Patch Notes | Genshin Impact Update 3.500 Patch Notes | Genshin Impact Update 3.5 Patch Notes:

〓Update Details〓

I. New Characters

5-Star Character “Flame-Mane” Dehya (Pyro)

◇ Vision: Pyro

◇ Weapon: Claymore

◇ A member of the Eremites, a mercenary organization that roams the sands of Sumeru. Valiant and powerful, she enjoys great fame amongst her fellow Eremites.

◆ Elemental Skill: Molten Inferno

◆ Dehya’s Elemental Skill “Molten Inferno” has two parts to it. “Molten Inferno: Indomitable Flame” deals AoE Pyro DMG and creates a Fiery Sanctum field, while “Molten Inferno: Ranging Flame” recreates said field at a new position after dealing AoE Pyro DMG, which will inherit the remaining duration of the previous field. When an enemy within a Fiery Sanctum field takes damage, the field will unleash a coordinated attack. In addition, active characters within the Fiery Sanctum field have their resistance to interruption increased, and when such characters take DMG, a portion of that damage will be mitigated and flow into Redmane’s Blood. Dehya will then take this DMG over a period of time.

◆ Elemental Burst: Leonine Bite

◆ After casting her Elemental Burst “Leonine Bite,” Dehya retrieves the Fiery Sanctum on the field and enters the “Blazing Lioness” state, which increases her resistance to interruption. In this state, Dehya uses her Flame-Mane’s Fist and Incineration Drive to deal Pyro DMG to enemies. When this state ends, a Fiery Sanctum field will be recreated at her new position, and will inherit the remaining duration of the previous field.

● The 5-star character “Flame-Mane” Dehya (Pyro) will be available in the standard wish “Wanderlust Invocation” in the next Version.

4-Star Character “Coordinates of Clear Frost” Mika (Cryo)

◇ Vision: Cryo

◇ Weapon: Polearm

◇ A young knight born to an ordinary family. He serves as a Front-Line Surveyor in his Company. He is a low-key and cautious character.

◆ Elemental Skill: Starfrost Swirl

◆ After using his Elemental Skill “Starfrost Swirl,” Mika uses his crossbow to attack, granting all nearby characters in your party Soulwind. When characters in the Soulwind state are on the field, their ATK SPD will be increased. When tapped, Mika fires a Flowfrost Arrow that can pierce through opponents, dealing Cryo DMG to enemies it comes into contact with. When held, Mika goes into Aiming Mode, locking on to an opponent and firing a Rimestar Flare at them, dealing Cryo DMG. When the Rimestar Flare hits, it will rise before exploding, launching Rimestar Shards into a maximum of 3 other opponents, dealing Cryo DMG.

◆ Elemental Burst: Skyfeather Song

◆ After using his Elemental Burst “Skyfeather Song,” Mika derives the ability to spur his teammates on from the recited prayers of the knightly order, regenerating HP for all nearby party members. This healing is based on Mika’s Max HP and will grant them the Eagleplume state. When the Normal Attacks of active characters affected by Eagleplume hit an opponent, Mika will help them regenerate HP based on his Max HP. Characters affected by this state can only regenerate HP in this way once per short interval of time.

II. New Equipment

New Weapons

Beacon of the Reed Sea (5-Star Claymore)

After the character’s Elemental Skill hits an opponent, their ATK will be increased by 20% for 8s. After the character takes DMG, their ATK will be increased by 20% for 8s. The 2 aforementioned effects can be triggered even when the character is not on the field. Additionally, when not protected by a shield, the character’s Max HP will be increased by 32%.

◆ During the event wish “Epitome Invocation,” the event-exclusive 5-star weapon Beacon of the Reed Sea (Claymore) will receive a huge drop-rate boost!

Mailed Flower (4-Star Claymore)

Within 8s after the character’s Elemental Skill hits an opponent or the character triggers an Elemental Reaction, their ATK and Elemental Mastery will be increased by 12% and 48 respectively.

◆ Mailed Flower (Claymore) and its refinement materials can be redeemed in the event “Windblume’s Breath.”

Steam Deck Top 20 Most Played Games for Feb. 2023 Sees Hogwarts Legacy Dethrone Elden Ring

Want to know what Steam Deck users are playing? Steam Deck’s top 20 games for February 2023 just got revealed, and include both relatively old titles such as Elden Ring and new ones like Hogwarts Legacy.

The official Steam Deck Twitter page posted a list of the top 20 games sorted by hours played, though the exact numbers weren’t listed.

  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • ELDEN RING
  • Vampire Survivors
  • Stardew Valley
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
  • Hades
  • Brotato
  • Persona 5 Royal
  • MONSTER HUNTER RISE
  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
  • Fallout 4
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Valheim
  • Slay the Spire
  • Marvel’s Midnight Suns
  • NBA 2K23
  • Project Zomboid

You’ll notice quite a bit of variety in this list. There are AAA games and story-driven titles like Cyberpunk 2077, as well as repeatable and more gameplay-oriented ones such as The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and Vampire Survivors. Hogwarts Legacy sits at the top of the list for February, and that’s to be expected given its widespread success in the weeks following its launch. It’s recently sold 12 million copies in just two weeks, and it’s likely quite a few of these copies were played on Steam Deck devices.

Did your favorite Steam Deck game make the list? Were there any games that surprised you? Let us know!

Final Fantasy 16 Has No Loading Screens, Will Feature 11 Hours of Cutscenes, PC Version Incoming “At Some Point”

The marketing drive for latest mainline Final Fantasy title is now in full swing, as Square Enix has revealed new Final Fantasy 16 gameplay details in a set of extensive interviews and new gameplay footage. The newest Final Fantasy steers away from an open world format to a more linear, self-contained map with expansive areas, with no loading screens across regions and a massive 35-hour story that features over “11 hours of cinematic cutscenes.” Read on for more details about Final Fantasy 16’s gameplay, combat, world format, difficulty settings, Timely accessories, and more, as well as a potential PC release down the line.

Final Fantasy 16 Gameplay Details – No Loading Screens, Story Length, Eikon Abilities & More:

Unlike the previous installment, Final Fantasy 16 has opted out of an open world setting and instead focuses on several gameplay areas created “in extreme detail.” Several large areas are available in the game that are not connected by land, but players can “jump into these story stages via the world map without loading.” “Four large-scale fields” are also present, and the game’s environments are described as “expansive” with “lots of opportunities for exploration” throughout a 35-hour story with over “11 hours of cinematic cutscenes.”

The game also opts out of a difficulty tier option, with the “Action Focus” and “Story Focus” modes only differentiated by “Timely” accessories that are available at the start of the game with the Story Focus mode to make aspects of the gameplay easier. However, besides a New Game Plus mode, an additional “Final Fantasy” mode is also available after the completion of a playthrough that massively changes enemy difficulty and placements, and is described as a “completely different type of experience.”

Some of the Timely accessories acquirable throughout the game are detailed below:

  • Ring of Timely Focus – Temporarily slows time before an incoming attack, allowing you more time to react.
  • Ring of Timely Assistance – Removes the need for you give Torgal battle commands manually.
  • Ring of Timely Strikes – Execute deadly combos by only pressing Square.
  • Ring of Timely Evasion – Automatically dodge most incoming attacks.
  • Ring of Timely Healing – Automatically use potions when HP drops below a certain threshold.

Final Fantasy 16’s approach to the party combat system focuses more on a streamlined, uninterrupted combat experience than before. All party members are AI-driven so as to let players focus on Clive’s abilities and positioning in combat environments. The Torgal companion is partially controllable with respect to movement and combat actions, but can be delegated to the game’s AI with the use of a Timely accessory.

As a Dominant, Clive acquires Eikonic abilities through combat scenarios with the eight known elemental Eikons in the game. Though born to mantle the Phoenix, it is Clive’s brother Joshua who acquires the abilities of the fire Eikon and eventually passes some of these abilities to Clive with the Blessing of the Phoenix. Clive’s focal Eikonic relationship is instead with Ifrit, the “impossible” Eikon who also represents fire. The other side of Final Fantasy 16’s combat is summon vs. summon i.e. Eikon vs. Eikon battles, where Clive will use his powers as a Dominant to fight Eikons as an Eikon himself. These are described as “unique,” “large-scale” battles with significant symbolic and narrative value as well as gameplay variety across each Eikon vs. Eikon fight.

In combat, Clive can attune and use up to three acquired Eikonic abilities against enemies. Effective combat revolves around managing Eikonic abilities’ cooldowns while wearing enemies down with melee and ranged attacks. Attacking enemies depletes their “Will Gauge,” which allows players to critically strike temporarily staggered enemies for up to 150% damage. Players will also have to be more conscious of their attacks and cooldowns fpr enemies with the guard ability that mitigates all damage dealt from the front. Enemies with their guard up can only be attacked from open angles, or with the usage of Basic or Eikonic abilities to break through their guard.

Final Fantasy 16 PC Release:

Though Final Fantasy 16 is only exclusive to the PS5 console for six months, a PC release will not immediately follow the end of the exclusivity period. However, a PC version is indeed likely somewhere down the line as per producer Naoki Yoshida:

First of all, it is true that FINAL FANTASY XVI is a six-month limited time exclusive on the PS5 platform. However, it is a completely different story that the PC version will be released in half a year. I will make it clear, but the PC version will not come out in half a year.

This is because we spent a lot of time and money optimizing the PS5 platform to deliver the best gaming experience. Of course, I would like to release a PC version at some point so that everyone can play as many games as possible. However, even if we start optimizing the PC version after the PS5 version comes out, we won’t be able to optimize it in half a year, so it won’t come out in a short span of half a year. I would like to release it eventually, and I think I will, but I am not at the stage where I can say when.

First of all, I would be happy if you could play the PS5 version, which I made with the thought of being the best game in the world. If the PC version comes out in half a year, I can quit the company (laughs). Please don’t say, “I won’t buy the PS5 version because the PC version will be released in half a year.”

For further details about Final Fantasy 16’s combat, gameplay, lore and narrative, as well as extensive gameplay preview footage, check out these Gematsu and PS Blog articles showing a major early sequence of the game as well as the fight between the Eikons Ifrit and Garuda.

Final Fantasy 16 shoots out for the PS5 on June 22, 2023.

Report: Over 200 Apex Legends QA Testers Laid Off via Unscheduled Zoom Call

More layoffs in the video game industry have just been reported, and this time it was reportedly done over a Zoom call. Over 200 quality assurance testers for EA’s popular battle royale, Apex Legends, were apparently laid off over the online call.

The report comes from Kotaku, with the article citing “three sources familiar with the meeting.” The aforementioned meeting was unscheduled, according to the sources, and encouraged participants to join via smartphone or computer. This was then followed by the announcement that the entire testing team of EA’s Baton Rouge studio would be laid off.

As the layoffs were conducted over a Zoom call, those affected by the announcement were allowed to gather their belongings from the office, though it was done under supervision. Laid-off employees will be provided 60 days of severance pay but this apparently doesn’t cover the original contract length of many of those impacted.

While not nearly as large in scale as Microsoft’s 10,000 strong layoffs that occurred last January, it’s still unfortunate news nonetheless, especially given the fact that the announcement was made online over an unscheduled Zoom call. This also comes after recent news that Apex Legends Mobile would be shutting down and a report that EA canceled an unannounced Titanfall game.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Gameplay Changes Include New Parry Mechanic to Replace QTEs, Quick Dodge, Stealth Rework & More

In a new interview, directors Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Ampo have discussed a number of the Resident Evil 4 remake‘s gameplay changes over the original title. With the goal of modernizing dated aspects of the gameplay but keeping the general experience unchanged, the remake no longer features quick time events (QTEs) and instead utilizes a parry mechanic across the game to incentivize fast reflexes. The gameplay is generally more active with faster turns and a quick dodge mechanic, but the remake also allows for more variety in player approaches through refining the stealth gameplay and enemy behavior.

Kadoi and Ampo are Capcom veterans, and have been working on the Resident Evil franchise since the original 1996 title. Both directors worked together on the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, and as such, have significant experience with bringing older Resident Evil titles to modern audiences.

Kadoi and Ampo discussed a number of gameplay changes in the remake that are aimed at reworking the combat of the original title to provide smoother, more impactful function in the modern gaming world.

  • One of the most significant changes is the removal of quick time events (QTEs), which the team felt players would no longer enjoy. To replace QTEs, a parry mechanic was implemented across the game to similar effect, most notably in the legendary Krauser boss fight, where players will still be on the edge of their seats as the relentless Krauser unleashes a barrage of devastating attacks on Leon.
  • Though the original did feature a quick turn feature, the remake massively improves Leon’s turn speed, and also incorporates a quick dodge mechanic to let players effectively function in enemy-rich environments.
  • To add more weight to the gameplay, Leon’s knife has been made stronger but can now also break with usage, forcing knife-only players to more wisely use their weapon arsenal.
  • While the original Resident Evil 4 was seen as having enough variety within the combat, the team felt that non-combat approaches were limited, forcing players to take enemies head-on in many scenarios. The remake tackles the issue with making stealth approaches more accessible, with most enemies unaware of the player by default and the new crossbow weapon allowing players to silently take down enemies at a distance.
  • Increased enemy variety and reworked placements in the remake will strengthen both the narrative and gameplay experiences.
  • Additionally, the remake encourages players to explore and interact with the world of the game more deeply than the original by incorporating side quests (especially with the merchant NPC) where a variety of environment items can be fetched to acquire small upgrades or other items.

The Resident Evil 4 remake shoots out March 24, 2023, on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Luminous Productions to Merge With Square Enix Starting May 1; Forspoken DLC and Patch Still in the Works

A recent announcement from Japanese game studio Luminous Productions revealed that the company would be merging with another Japanese studio, Square Enix, starting May 1. Luminous Productions had recently released Forspoken, an open-world RPG, less than a couple of months prior.

The announcement was made via the studio’s official Twitter account.

https://twitter.com/LumiPro_EN/status/1630449903385329665?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1630449903385329665%7Ctwgr%5Ed109e67ceaa8593122cbd6791f1af22c25868d2f%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eurogamer.net%2Fforspoken-developer-luminous-productions-folded-into-square-enix

It’s worth noting that Luminous Productions was previously a subsidiary of Square Enix before the studio became an independent entity. The company also worked on Final Fantasy 15. Both FF15 and Forspoken make use of the studio’s proprietary Luminous Engine, and it’s unclear as of this time whether or not the engine will see continued use in future titles.

Despite merging with Square Enix, Luminous Productions is still currently working on the announced DLC for Forspoken, titled “In Tanta We Trust.” A recently announced patch that is set to address Forspoken’s performance issues is also still in the works.

Forspoken launched to a lukewarm reception, its interesting combat system and flashy particle effects muddled by its less-than-stellar story and somewhat bland open world. You can check out our review of Forspoken here, where we gave it a 6.5/10 score. Here’s a quote: “Without a compelling story or likable protagonist, or a compelling world to explore, Forspoken only has its combat to rely on and while I always found that fun and engaging, it’s not enough to justify an open world for a decidedly linear game. It tries a lot of things and comes up short in most of them. There’s a really good game in Forspoken. It just needed to be refined, polished and edited.”

Hitman Developer IO Interactive Announces They’re Working on a New Online Fantasy RPG

Known for their work on the Hitman franchise, IO Interactive announced today that they had begun developing a brand-new IP, and it’s quite far off from what we’re used to seeing from the studio. The new IP is tentatively called “Project Fantasy,” which is most likely a current placeholder, and according to IO Interactive, the project will be an online fantasy RPG.

It has now been a decade since we first imagined creating a new “World of Assassination” for our HITMAN games. Seven years ago, we launched that world in its infancy and nurtured it to grow to comprise three full games, exciting new game modes, many additional locations, and extra targets. And more importantly, it has allowed us to build a bond with our community that has supported us ever since. We have gone from a strong vision, through a lot of unforeseen events, to the ever-expanding world with freedom of approach in its core that we have today.

Now we are sharing with all of you, that we are embarking on a new adventure! One that expands our creativity, our capabilities, and in some sense our identity. We are building a new world, a new IP – an online fantasy RPG. A world and a game built from the core to entertain players and expand for many years to come. It feels familiar, yet at the same time IOI is going on a journey unlike any we have been on before.

The team goes on to explain how they first started their journey into the world of game development, citing that it all began with the fantasy genre.

For many, this journey is also a deeply personal one that began long before we started making games for a living – and it started with the fantasy genre. From the “Fighting Fantasy” books compelling you to choose your path, alone, against wizards, lizards, and thief kings. To the togetherness, camaraderie, agony, and delight found around the tabletop. For some it meant taking the role of a game master: Part storyteller, part AI opponent, part guide, part villain. For everyone around that table it meant creativity, imagination, building a world together, and a shared goal in creating a great game experience.

This idea – that a diverse group of individuals with different skills and strengths can work together and become more than the sum of their parts – is what inspires us. It inspires the fantasy world we are building – and it inspires how we build it. IOI now spans multiple distinct studios, from Copenhagen and Malmö in the north to warm Barcelona in the south. All studios take part in making all our games, including this new endeavor. People from all over the world with diverse personalities and skillsets are coming together to forge a new beginning.

This is just the start of our journey into this new world we are making. We hope you sense the warmth, the danger, the togetherness, and the heart we put into it… And if you do, we would be honored if you join us.

Little else is known about the project outside the provided concept art (shown above), though IO Interactive have begun hiring for a number of positions to work on the title. Amongst these position is the combat designer, which lists one of the responsibilities as “develop and oversee the player’s combat mechanics, weapons and abilities.” That could mean and be applied to almost any game out there, so it’s a small piece of information, if we’re honest.

I cannot wait to see what IO Interactive cooks up, as I regard the recent Hitman games as some of the best sandbox games on the market today. It’ll be interesting to see how they apply that kind of freedom those games have to offer to an online RPG. Though we suspect with the team hard at work on the 007 project, it may be a while before we hear more on this IO Interactive’s fantasy RPG.

New Rotational Event: Mutation Invasion

Over the past four years, Appalachia has changed in many ways. Otherwise known as, “A Normal Day in the Wasteland.”

Mutations you’ve grown to know and love from Daily Ops’ missions are now spilling over into Public Events! Mutation Invasion will increase the difficulty of Public Events, or challenge you to change your playstyle, but not without hefty rewards.

  • Until March 21st, a Mutated Public Event will take place every hour at the top of the hour.**

    • Public Events for the remainder of the hour are normal events with no Mutations.
  • Completing a Mutated Public Event will grant you a Mutated Package in addition to its base rewards!
  • The following Public Events can now appear as a Mutated Event during a Mutation Invasion:
    • Test Your Metal, Moonshine Jamboree, Eviction Notice, Lode Baring, Guided Meditation, Swarm of Suitors, One Violent Night, Uranium Fever, Line in the Sand, and Heart of the Swamp.

After the first 3 weeks of Mutation Invasion, this event will return every other week at the top of the hour for a week straight.

As a reminder, mutations can be:

  • Volatile: Enemies explode upon death.
  • Active Camouflage: Enemies are cloaked when not attacking.
  • Resilient: Enemies can only be slain with a melee attack.
  • Freezing Touch: Slow targets down upon attack.
  • Toxic Blood: Enemies leave behind small poisonous hazard upon death.
  • Group regeneration: Enemies heal each other when within radius.
