Future Bungie Games Will Not Be PlayStation Exclusives, Studio Affirms

Following its announcement of acquisition via PlayStation Studios, Bungie has affirmed that future games in their pipeline will not be PlayStation exclusives, as mentioned by an FAQ. This should help assuage those who are wondering if the ongoing Destiny 2 and future Bungie games will not be playable on Xbox or PC anymore, as the studio itself mentions that they have retained full creative independence even after the buyout.

Addressed in a separate FAQ post from Bungie’s official announcement, here is the section which states that future Bungie games will not be PlayStation exclusives:

Q: Bungie has future games in development, will they now become PlayStation exclusives?

No. We want the worlds we are creating to extend to anywhere people play games. We will continue to be self-published, creatively independent, and we will continue to drive one, unified Bungie community.

Check out the rest of the FAQ below:

As a Destiny 2 player, does Bungie becoming part of PlayStation have any immediate impact on how I play and experience Destiny 2?

No. Our commitment to Destiny 2 as a multi-platform game with full Cross Play remains unchanged.

We want you to play The Witch Queen on February 22, 2022, on the platform of YOUR choice.

Will the Destiny 2 experience on non-PlayStation platforms be impacted by Bungie becoming part of PlayStation?

No. We want to maintain the same great experience you already have on your platform of choice.

Will any announced seasons, events, packs, or expansions be changed or impacted by Bungie becoming part of PlayStation?

No. Bungie retains full creative independence for our games and our community. Our plans for the Light and Dark Saga are unchanged, all the way through The Final Shape in 2024.

Will Destiny 2: The Witch Queen include any platform exclusives?

No. The Witch Queen will not contain any platform exclusives. Every player should have an amazing Destiny experience, no matter where you choose to play

Will cross platform features, like Cross Save, Cross Play, the Destiny 2 Companion App, or third-party apps like Destiny Item Manager (DIM) be changed or removed?

No. Bungie’s commitment to cross-platform play and social features remains unchanged. We believe games are best shared with friends, wherever they choose to play, and will continue to invest in new features and platforms.

I play Destiny on Steam, Xbox, or Stadia – will my platform still be supported?

Yes.

There you have it. Unlike Xbox and Phil Spencer being rather creative with their words with regards to the future of the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation, Bungie has put out an official statement on their stance on the future of their titles on other platforms. Only time will tell if this will change in the future, as $3.6 billion, even compared to the Microsoft-Activision buyout, is no mere potatoes.

Sony Is Officially Acquiring Bungie for $3.6 Billion

According to a report from Bloomberg and Jason Schreier, Sony is buying Bungie, the studio behind the Destiny games and the creators of Halo, the series that put Xbox on the map. The report has also been officially acknowledged by Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios. Check out the details on this massive buyout below.

First reported by Jason Schreier, here’s his statement:

BREAKING: Sony is buying Bungie, the maker of Destiny — another seismic gaming deal that comes just two weeks after Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard.

Bungie put Xbox on the map. Now it’s part of PlayStation Studios. Filed to Bloomberg Terminal, hitting web soon

Herman Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, then confirmed the purchase minutes later, stating:

I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Bungie to the PlayStation family! Bungie create community-driven games with outstanding technology that are enormous fun to play, and I know that everyone at PlayStation Studios will be excited about what we can share and learn together.

Bungie has came out with a statement on the purchase which you can check out below.

We believe games have limitless potential, and that to do anything worthwhile in entertainment, we must bet big on our vision, on our studio, and on our incredible team of trusted creators who build unforgettable worlds that truly matter to people.

In SIE, we have found a partner who unconditionally supports us in all we are and who wants to accelerate our vision to create generation-spanning entertainment, all while preserving the creative independence that beats in Bungie’s heart. Like us, SIE believes that game worlds are only the beginning of what our IPs can become. Together, we share a dream of creating and fostering iconic franchises that unite friends around the world, families across generations, and fans across multiple platforms and entertainment mediums.

Today, Bungie begins our journey to become a global multi-media entertainment company.

The massive buyout comes right after Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard, the studio behind the Call of Duty franchise. While not as large as the former, this Sony-Bungie deal is a significant one thanks to Destiny 2.

There’s a new trailer accompanying this release date announcement , which also gives us a taste of the action to come.

Here’s the new highlight reel video showing the cast as well as teasing bits of the story for the upcoming live-action series.

https://twitter.com/HaloTheSeries/status/1487896228255854594

Included in the cast is fan favorite soldier John-117 aka Master Chief — who will be played by The Wire and American Gods actor Pablo Schreiber. Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Exotics Shown Off in Leaked New Ad

With Destiny 2’s upcoming major expansion The Witch Queen set for release this February 22, 2022, it looks like the studio is ramping up the marketing for the game, and that includes video ads. Unfortunately though, it looks like a leaked Google AdSense ad has shown off more than Bungie intended, as a bunch of Destiny 2 The Witch Queen exotics have been accidentally leaked in a new ad!

Check the video below, as well as some screenshots we took from the video in case it gets pulled down (low-res, sadly).

Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Exotics via Ad:

https://imgur.com/a/8vgM0BB

Of course, given that Bungie hasn’t officially announced or revealed these said new exotics, we don’t know what these bad boys can do or what they’re called exactly. There is that one that seems like it can launch live fish and sea creatures, so you can’t say Bungie hasn’t been creative with the designs.

In other Destiny 2 news, make sure to read up on some of the Destiny 2 Season 16 changes announced by Bungie right here.

How are you liking the new exotics so far based on our short glimpse of ’em? Chances are, Bungie will be revealing more of The Witch Queen in the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned.

Thanks, SnowBird8, CYCL0P35!

Battlefield 2042: 10 Things DICE Needs to Do in Order to Turn Things Around

While Battlefield 2042 was releasd just a few months ago in November 2021, to say it’s struggling is a bit of an understatement. For starters, EA has never said anything about its sales figures yet, which means it didn’t sell well to trump anything about, and its player base (at least on Steam) is getting beaten by older games in the franchise on a daily basis. Not only that, but we’ve enumerated the issues the game has in our review (which doesn’t put the game in a pretty light).

Having said all that, the game is not beyond redemption. If games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 (another game developed by DICE) go from being loathed to increasing its player base year(s) after launch, then surely an established franchise like Battlefield can too, right? In the list below, we count down the 10 things DICE — and EA — must do in order to turn things around for Battlefield 2042! We aren’t saying that Battlefield 2042 will be a top-seller or just

10 Things DICE and EA Need to Do in Order to Turn Things Around for Battlefield 2042:

Battlefield 2042 Subreddit

10) Better Communication to the Players

While we’ve already talked about DICE’s communication problem with the Battlefield player base, it’s worth repeating once again: DICE and EA Need to communicate with the player base (or what’s left). Don’t schedule canned tweets and call it a day, no. Listen to the community, reply to tweets, community posts from Reddit (even if most are toxic) — basically, anything to let the player base know that someone within the studio and publisher is listening. That shouln’t be that hard, right?

9) Implement Proper Old Features Back (Scoreboard, VOIP)

While DICE has already announced that a revamped/updated scoreboard is coming this February, that’s not nearly enough. Why are old features like a proper VOIP, chat and the like missing? If the reason is toxicity, then maybe just clamp up on that more? Trying to make sure no one gets hurt by hidiing the scoreboard from everyone isn’t helping, it’s just laughable.

Battlefield 2042 Update 1.04

8) Fix Performance Issues

While DICE continues to release fixes included in each patch for BF2042, one can argue that the game shouldn’t be suffering from these issues in the first place given DICE had years to develop the multiplayer mode, and wasn’t even encumbered by needing to make a single-player campaign. We need proper performance fixes, better server stability, less crashes and better stabilization on both consoles and PC.

When we say “performance issues,” we also mean better hit registeration, less buggy melee attacks, and more.

7) Bring Back Rent a Servers

Sure, there are community servers/games available but it still requires one person be in that particular server for it to not close down. ALso, it’s not as flexible as proper rented servers, either. Why not let gamers rent their own servers like in previous Battlefield games? The actual gamers are paying for it, so it’s not like it’s costing EA anything more to have them available, right?

The main thing where this matters is in Battlefield Portal. You have the perfect mode where players can go to town in terms of game mode imagination, but yet, they are hampered by not being able to have their game modes/creations available 24/7.

6) Menu and Spawn Screen Needs to Be Changed

Battlefield 2042’s menu and spawn screens simply do not work. It takes too many clicks, too many buttons to do something as simple as changing something in your loadout. Mind, this is an issue in past Battlefield games as well, but it’s more pronounced in BF2042 given the other issues the game has. There’s just too many button presses for the options, loadout screen and the like, and that needs to change.

As for the spawn screen, it just needs to be fixed given it’s so hard to know exactly where you’re dropping in, and it’s just annoying to have to deal with.

Battlefield free to play

5) Either Make Hazard Zone Free, or Just Kill It

Let’s face it: Hazard Zone is a bust. Either EA makes the mode free-to-play so players who want to test Battlefield 2042 can, or just kill it and have DICE pour all resources into All-Out War. I mean, show of hands, who here would miss Hazard Zone if it goes away? Yeah, I thought as much.

4) Proper Roadmap and Battle Pass Explanation

We’re what? 70+ days since the game launched, and yet there is still no mention of any friggin’ roadmap, which is inexcusable for a AAA shooter from one of the biggest video game publishers in the world. How can games that have yet to be released, and with a smaller corporate backing, have an actual post-release plan and roadmap and yet BF2042 does not? Yeah, we’re baffled by this one too.

Given how badly DICE and EA have bungled up the communication so far, we’re not expecting much from the eventual Battle Pass announcement. What we know is, we’ll be getting a new Specialist, new guns, a new map and new cosmetics. But EA needs to do more than that since, well. they might not have anyone left to sell the game’s first Battle Pass to!

The first Battle Pass shouldn’t just be a mindless cash-grab, but be used to somehow rope players back in! How? Announce tons of new content, a proprper roadmap, a proper timetable for fixes, and more. If this one fails, then EA might as well kiss the remaining players good bye.

3) Release More Content ASAP

Going in hand-in-hand with the roadmap and Battle Pass, EA doesn’t have the luxury of taking their time in releasing new content for the game. Given how small the weapon pool is, and how there are so few maps in All-Out War, then it’s time that DICE and EA start doling out content even without any season involved.

Perhaps give one content drop (or two) every month? Hey, drastic cases calls for drastic measures, right? This is one way of (maybe) earning back player trust.

2) Make a Specialist-Free Mode

For Specialists, we’ll be realistic here and admit that it is highly unlikely that DICE can somehow take out Specialists without completely breaking the game given the core game mode is huilt around each one’s ability and whatnot. Still, one can wonder how the player base would react if a new core game mode was released that would only allow the traditional classes.

Sure, this Specialist-free mode is doable in Battlefield Portal, but it’s a different beast when DICE themselvs make a mode like this and have it on permanently, right?

1) Relaunch Just Like DICE Did With Battlefield V and Battlefront 2

Perhaps the silver lining to all the stormy weather the game has gotten so far is, both Battlefield V and Star Wars Battlefront 2 had rocky launches, but after numerous patches, content drops and the like, things started turning around. However, it wasn’t just that. In case you didn’t know, EA relaunched the games with an alternate “cover” which signified the major changes to each title. Remember that BFV title screen above? What about the one below for Battlefront 2?

This is the good thing about games being live services these days; countless titles have managed to turn things around but it involves a lot of hard work from the devs, constant communication, and more.

That’s about it. Do you agree with this list? What can DICE and EA do to turn things around for Battlefield 2042? Sound off and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Report: Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Cover Art Spotted Online

It appears that there’s new art afloat for the native Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 version, and it also appears that the game may be closer than most have anticipated! As reported by a famous data scraper, the new art makes use of a version of the female V, and you can check it out in all its glory below.

The information comes from known PlayStation Network data scraper PlayStation Game Size.

While there isn’t much else to go on besides the supposed image for the native PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077, PlayStation Game Size did leave behind a tidbit that may or may not have merit:

i think it’s Coming on Mid Feb – Early March

In any case, just as with everything unconfirmed, take this one with a grain of salt until officially confirmed. In case you missed it, CD Projekt RED recently confirmed that the studio will begin working on new Witcher and Cybperpunk titles later this year, as mentioned in a recent Polish interview:

“We are currently focusing on our two franchises. Both have enormous potential, so one of our strategic goals is to start working on AAA projects in parallel within our IPs, which is expected to happen next year.”

WWE 2K22 Trailer Featuring New Snippets of Gameplay Leaks Out (Update)

While werestling fans got our first WWE 2K22 trailer earlier this month, 2K Games has one planned to go out again, and this one features more WWE 2K22 gameplay (snippets) has leaked out!

The trailer is just 1:48 long, and seems to be an alternate trailer to the “It Hits Different” video released two weeks ago. However, this one features snippets of new gameplay, a good look at the game’s in-game character models, and more. Odds are, this trailer was set to be released later tonight during the Royal Rumble event.

2K today unveiled an exciting, early look at WWE® 2K22 gameplay with the action-packed WWE 2K22: Booyaka Gameplay Trailer featuring a slew of WWE Superstars and Legends laying the smack down on their opponents. The trailer showcases stunning visuals made possible by the redesigned gameplay engine, crisp new animations, new game modes including MyGM, and much more.

Given this isn’t official, still treat it with a grain of salt, yeah? Since this could very well be fan-made (though a good one at that). Although, it does look like the real deal. Once 2K sends over the official trailer later today along with any important info, we’ll update the post.

Straight from 2K, here’s a list of WWE 2K22’s new features:

  • VISUALS & GAMEPLAY – Throw down with the biggest and most realistic-looking WWE Superstars and Legends like The Rock, Sasha Banks, Brock Lesnar, and more. WWE2K22 hits different – including an all new visual effects engine, never seen before camera angles, rescanned and realistic Superstars, unique environments and more!
  • 2K SHOWCASE – 619 your way to Superstardom and celebrate pivotal moments in Rey Mysterio’s iconic career in 2K Showcase. Booyaka!
  • MyFACTION – In a franchise-first, the all-new MyFACTION lets you build a faction that rivals the nWo. Collect, manage and upgrade WWE Superstars, with weekly events and regular updates!
  • CREATION SUITE – Build for Yourself, Share with the World! The Creation Suite

WWE 2K22 will slam its way out this March 11 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and PC.

Thanks,  MADNESS_NH97!

Update: Post has been updated with official trailer and description via the press release.

WWE 2K22 Roman Reigns Rating Revealed

2K Games has now revealed the WWE 2K22 Roman Reigns roster rating! The current Universal Champion has the highest rating in the game revealed thus far. 2K Games posted a video on Twitter where Roman Reigns announced his overall rating for WWE 2K22

While we don’t know the full ratings list for all the superstars, Reigns might have the highest rating for the current roster as he has an impressive overall rating of 95.

For reference, former WWE Champions Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre only have an overall rating of 91 each. Reigns is also higher than the nWo version of Hulk Hogan who got an overall rating of a 92.

It will be interesting to see if any other wrestler can match or exceed a rating of 95. The only person that could match his rating is Brock Lesnar. Other legends such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock could also have decent ratings when they get revealed soon.

WWE 2K22 releases on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X and PC this March 11, 2022. You can check out the game’s different editions right here.

Ghost Recon Frontline Closed Test Gameplay Leaks, Features UI, Menus & Combat

Last year, Ubisoft unveiled the future of the Ghost Recon franchise with Ghost Recon Frontline, which is an upcoming free-to-play shooter that seems to be jumping into the battle royale bandwagon. If you wanted to see gameplay, you’re in luck, as Ghost Recon Frontline closed test gameplay has surfaced!

The footage below (which we’re assuming will get yanked soon-ish) features menu footage, gameplay, and of course, combat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkSZO9fHHMM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMWBHJjrv_g

The person who uploaded the gameplay above is Reddit user Parzalai, who shared the following observations:

My general thoughts on the game are:

  • Game looks like poo, runs like trash on a 30 series card
  • TTK is really quick, half most the time I don’t have time to respond to 3rd parties
  • Recoil is similar to CSGO but worse
  • Maps are weirdly designed, I be hearing gunshots everywhere but cant face an enemy or just get shot in the map
  • Points in Control are suuuper annoying to get, takes very long to get stuff like a sniper, maybe Im just bad idk.
  • For some reason I hate the UI, just so chunky and hard to navigate.

Bear in mind, the leaker is playing a closed test version of the game, and as such, expect the visuals to not be representative of the final game, and there’s bound to be bugs, issues and whatnot as well.

More footage this time via Twitch in case that gets YouTube link gets pulled:

No release date has been announced for the game just yet, but here’s the official game description via Ubisoft:

In Ghost Recon Frontline, players will discover Drakemoor island, an open world full of diverse landmarks and biomes. The game features a large set of tactical support tools, offering players complete freedom in strategic gameplay throughout various game modes. Expedition, the game’s flagship mode, offers a new take on the battle royale genre. Featuring more than 100 players in teams of three, these squads will have to work together to complete dynamic objectives across the massive open map with no converging circle.

Once players are done collecting intel, they will have to head to a drop zone and call for an extraction. When initiated, all teams will know the position of the extraction and will try to intervene, players will have to play tactically to successfully escape and win the match. Additional modes will also be available at launch.

Thoughts on the game so far based on closed alpha footage? Share your thoughts down below.

Sifu Behind the Scenes Video Explores the Game’s Soundtrack

Bringing to life a warrior’s journey takes all kinds of practice and production. A new Sifu behind the scenes video has been released, and it checks out the making of the soundtrack, looking at the score and sounds that adds life and emotion into the upcoming action game.

Here’s the new video that sees Absolver creators Sloclap working on the new project and adding sound to the mix.

To take on the martial arts journey of this scale, SloClap hired music composer Howie Lee and explains how his experience with traditional Chinese music fit what they needed for the game.

To compose the original soundtrack of Sifu, we chose to work with Howie Lee, Beijing-based electronic music composer, for his very first collaboration on a video game. We felt that his use of traditional Chinese music inspirations along with more contemporary electronic elements would be a perfect fit for Sifu. Take a peek into our work on the music and the Sound of Sifu.

With the game preparing for its official release in just over a week’s time, here’s the details on the file size and preload date for Sifu on the PS5 if you’re planning to get it on the console.

Sifu will be released for PS4, PS5, and PC this February 8.
