New Outriders Trailer Lets You Become Terror

People Can Fly’s Outriders has a new broadcast showing today, and as part of it, a new Outriders trailer has been released titled “Become Terror.” Prepare for a more subdued trailer than in past ones released, as it gives us a more personal look at the carnage that goes in. There’s still a lot of explosions and death, so don’t worry about missing any of that.

While Outriders seems to have been flying under the radar since it was announced, we’re starting to dig where People Can Fly is taking this, so expect more Outriders coverage in the future from us.

About Outriders:

OUTRIDERS is an RPG shooter set in an original, dark and desperate sci-fi universe. As mankind bleeds out in the trenches of Enoch, you’ll create your own Outrider and embark on a journey across a hostile planet. With rich storytelling spanning a diverse world, you’ll leave behind the slums and shanty towns of the First City and traverse forests, mountains and deserts in pursuit of a mysterious signal. Combining intense gunplay with violent powers, along with an arsenal of increasingly twisted weaponry and gear-sets, OUTRIDERS offers countless hours of gameplay from one of the finest shooter studios in the industry.

We’ll have more videos of Outriders up later today the moment the broadcast is over.

Outriders shoots out this holiday on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.

Xbox One Update Rolling Out for August, New Xbox Experience Coming to Insiders

Today, Xbox announced that the Xbox One update for August is now available to all players, and will be rolling out today. Included in this update are many improvements for the main dashboard, most importantly, the guide most used by players. The new guide design is cleaner and more comfortable to read and comes with the ability to customize the order of the tabs that you see when you first press the home button (it will default to the most recent games or apps you have been using).

Also added are buttons of the bottom of the guide that can take you to the most common areas of the dashboard that players use, like the store, Game Pass catalogue or notifications inbox. Speaking of notifications, the update also includes a brand new redesign for notifications. The new design combines all notifications into one hub space, from messages, game invites and unlocked achievements. It will also bring notifications from all Xbox apps like PC and the new mobile app that Microsoft says will be rolling out into beta very soon.

Other improvements to this update include the parties and messages tabs combined into a single space. You can also individually adjust the volume for anyone who joins a party you are in and preview messages that have been sent to you before you open it. You can read more on the smaller changes that are included in today’s update here.

For select Xbox Insiders (which is Xbox’s beta testing service), the new Xbox experience that we covered last week is rolling out today. A brand new visual look for the dashboard that will bring all Xbox platforms into one ecosystem is the prominent feature. Insiders will get to give feedback on how they feel about the new design before it is pushed out to the Series X this holiday. Microsoft comments that most of the pages’ overall layout will not be drastically changing, so you don’t have to learn a whole new UI when Xbox Series X launches. The other two substantial changes come in the form of Profile Themes and a new sign-in policy coming with the launch of Project XCloud (Xbox’s cloud streaming service). Following in Playstation’s footsteps, Xbox and PC players will now have access to Themes. Many themes will be included when Insiders get access to it with more being added over time, including some game Themes from different Xbox Studios and will carry over to all Xbox devices.

Users will now be able to sign into multiple devices with a single account. With the launch of Project XCloud, users will be able to watch movies, use apps and chat in parties without being worried about being signed out. The only catch here is that when playing games, your account can only be used to play a single game at a time. So for some of you who might think it would be cool to sign into XCloud and your Xbox at the same time, unfortunately, you are out of luck. More updates on what the Xbox ecosystem will bring with the Series X launch are expected as we get closer to a launch date.

Marvel’s Avengers Next War Table Set for Sept. 1, Will Feature First Post-Launch Story Season and a New Hero

While the Marvel’s Avengers beta just wrapped up this weekend and the game’s launching on September 4, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics aren’t done hyping the game just yet, as the Marvel’s Avengers next War Table stream has been announced for September 1.

In the press release, publisher Square Enix announced that the upcoming War Table stream will give players our first in-depth look at the first post-launch story season, as well as the unveiling of an additional post-launch hero. In addition to that, the episode will focus on the stuff players need to keep track of for day one.

On September 1, the third Marvel’s Avengers WAR TABLE will give all the information players need to get started on Day One of the game’s release. Special attention will be paid to the game’s progression system, hints and tips for taking on the game’s more than 50 different types of enemies, as well as additional details about Marvel’s Avengers’ high-level content.

The WAR TABLE will also dive deeper into the Avengers Initiative, where players hone their heroes to their ultimate versions after they finish the game’s Reassemble story campaign, as well as the game’s first post-launch content season. Minds will be blown and wishes granted as some of the game’s extensive slate of additional heroes, villains, missions, regions, and gameplay modes are unveiled, all of which will be made available at no additional cost.

Same as before, MP1st will be here to report on the important announcements as it happens. While we already know that Hawkeye and Spider-Man is coming (the latter for PlayStation platforms exclusively), we’re wondering if one of the new post-launch heroes will be part of the 15 that were unearthed via datamining.

Make sure to read our Marvel’s Avengers beta impressions to see what we make of it. We also posted a feature on the things we want to see changed/fixed based on beta feedback.

SMITE Update 11.52 New Patch Brings the 7.8 August 25 Bonus Update

Just two weeks ago, gods and godesses got the meaty God of the Moon update for SMITE. As is the case with every major update for the game, there’s a bonus update out within the same month! Hi-Rez has released the SMITE update 11.52 new patch and it brings the 7.8 August 25 bonus update.

SMITE Update 11.52 new patch notes:

Bonus Balance Live August 25
Items

Ring of Hecate
Mage ADCs are holding strong in the current meta, largely due to the reworking of this item. Hecate received a strong nerf last update, but it’s clear that more is required. Freya and Olorun have continued to be top picks and bans, with Sol and Chronos being slightly more fringe, but still quite strong. We are bringing this items base stats down, as well as applying nerfs directly to Olorun and Freya. Our goals from these changes are to get all mage ADCs closer in balance to each other, and to get Mage ADCs closer in balance to Hunters.
  • Decreased Attack Speed from 30% to 25%
  • Decreased Magical Lifesteal 20% to 15%

Typhon’s Fang
This item is also heavily enabling the Mage ADC meta, and it’s nerf reasoning and goals is closely tied to those of Ring of Hecate. However, this is also going to be extending nerfs to a set of traditional Mages who greatly benefit from lifesteal. The self healing Mages have access too has grown over time, causing frustration at higher skill levels and clear wins at lower levels. We are bringing this down while also planning to buff a set of damage and hybrid items for Mages in the main update.
  • Decreased Healing obtained from Magical Lifesteal from 40% to 30% in the Item’s Passive

Hastened Katana
Basic Attack Assassins are still running as rampant as Mage ADCs. In a similar strategy, we are nerfing an item that is shared among many of the gods in this category, as well as directly nerfing a few top performers.
  • Decreased Attack Speed from 20% to 15%.
  • Decreased Movement Speed from 10% to 7%.
Gods
Tsukuyomi
The God of the Moon has ambushed the balance stats as masterfully as he ambushed his rivals in the Japanese Pantheon. Tsukuyomi’s unique kit elements and lack of a dash or leap has not held him back at all. Players in all skill levels and game modes are doing quite well with the god, mostly due to his damage output. Tsukuyomi is going to see damage nerfs across his kit, in both base damage and scaling damage. We expect this god’s stats to tightly correlate with his damage potential, so these changes should bring him down substantially.

Dark Moon Shuriken
  • Decreased Physical Power Scaling from 90% to 80%

Kusarigama
  • Decreased damage on the first two hits from 35/60/85/110/135 to 30/55/80/105/130
  • Decreased final hit damage from 70/125/180/235/290 to 60/115/170/225/280
  • Decreased disarm duration from 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5s to 1.6/1.7/1.8/1.9/2

Silver Moon Caltrops
  • Decreased damage from 20/37.5/55/72.5/90 to 20/35/50/65/80.

Piercing Moonlight
  • Decreased dash damage from 85/110/145/180/215 to 70/100/130/160/190
  • Updated the description to properly describe that Tsukuyomi must damage a target with the beams to dash to them.
  • Fixed an issue where the description didn’t state that killing an enemy immediately granted Tsukuyomi both of his ranged attacks.
Olorun
The Yoruba leader was buffed leading up to Mid Season as well as in the Mid Season update itself. This combined with his new ring has clearly put him over the top, and one of those buffs is being reverted, specifically on his basic attack damage output. Olorun’s Ultimate is often part of the conversation, and is something we will look into nerfing in the future if the Ring, Typhon’s, and Touch of Fate nerfs aren’t enough to bring him in line.

Touch of Fate
  • Decreased Bonus Damage of Olorun’s Critical Strikes from 60% to 50%
Freya
The Valkyrie Queen also has been affectionately dubbed a “Ring Abuser.” Her favorite ring is getting nerfed, but she is still getting another direct nerf because she and Olorun are still likely to over perform against other hunters and against Sol and Chronos.

Pulse
  • Decreased Slow from 25% at all ranks to 15/17.5/20/22.5/25%
Bakasura
The great devourer is gobbling up other Junglers since Mid Season. The item and meta changes have pushed him much further up than expected, causing Baka to put up some top stats even after his recent buffs were reverted. In this update we are nerfing his passive, which is a key factor in making him one of the fastest Jungle farmers in the game. His ultimate is already getting a slight nerf in its area control, to give enemies a better chance of escaping his chomping jaws.

Insatiable Hunger
  • Decreased Attack Speed per Stack from 8% to 7%.
  • Decreased Movement Speed per Stack from 8% to 7%.

Regurgitate
  • Decreased slow duration from 4s to 3s.
Arachne
This itsy bitsy spider is now one of the top picked and top winningest gods in the game. Arachne tends to put up strong metrics even when the community considers her weak, niche, pubstompy, or some other category that dismisses her power level. However, its clear to see now that people have caught on to her strength. Venomous Bite has exceedingly high base damage, so we are choosing to bring down this specific aspect of her along with the item changes.

Venomous Bite
  • Decreased Damage per Tick from 10/20/30/40/50 to 10/18/26/34/42
    • Decreased from 110/195/280/365/450 to 110/183/256/329/402 Total damage
Persephone
The Queen of the Underworld has continued to be a somewhat controversial goddess. Persephone is one of the weakest gods in the game at most skill levels, but at high ranks and competitive tiers she is considered exceedingly powerful. We will be looking into more changes for Persephone in the future, but for now we are looking to mitigate frustration factors. Her AoE Damage and Slow are both being nerfed, causing Persephone to rely more on her unique utility features that require more intense changes to address.

Harvest
  • Decreased Magical Power Scaling Dmg from 75% to 65%
  • Decreased Harvest Slow from 30% to 20%
Amaterasu
Ajax has cast his hoodie aside for a day to push through some Amaterasu nerfs. Amaterasu has become a top pick at pro play and ranked play, boasting a strong early game lane phase and a powerful presence in late game team fights. We are adjusting the damage from her mirror again, but this time at the higher ranks. This should keep her lane phase in a reasonable state, but bring down her mid-game kill potential.

Heavenly Reflection
  • Decreased Damage from 70/105/140/175/210 to 70/100/130/160/190
  • Decreased Full damage from 140/210/280/350/420 to 140/200/260/320/380
Cthulhu
The battleground of the gods is crumbling. The great old ones have extended into the mortal realm causing madness and despair to run rampant. Cities burn, temples fall, and big scary squid monsters dive towers with reckless abandon. Cthulhu’s Ultimate has been often discussed as his most powerful feature, and one that is hard to counter. We are decreasing the duration of this effect at all ranks, which should limit his chase and dive potential considerably.

Descend into Madness
  • Duration reduced from 12/13/14/15/16s to 10/11/12/13/14s
Yemoja
The magical waters are still causing more turbulence than serenity. Yemoja has received multiple nerfs over time, but forever remained as a top pick especially at pro play. We are bringing down her damage and control slightly to make room for more guardian picks.

Bouncing Bubble
  • Decreased damage from 40/75/110/145/180 to 30/65/100/135/170
  • Reduced Slow duration from 1.4s to 1s
    • Both of these changes apply to all hits of the ability (1st, 2nd, and small bubbles)

For the new god skins introduced in today’s patch, head on over here.

Why Rainbow Six Siege Needs a Rainbow Six Vegas Map

Rainbow Six Siege is a brilliant game. It has tight mechanics that have been honed over the years through patches and updates to provide one of the best first person shooter experiences on modern consoles. Ubisoft has confirmed that their explosive tactical team-based shooter is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but I think there’s a glaringly obvious gap in the game. Something that they should have fixed a long time ago. It’s also something that I think they need to fix before they can safely take the game to next-gen machines. Rainbow Six Siege needs a Rainbow Six Vegas map.

Rainbow Six Vegas, and its sequel, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, were both phenomenal games. They stepped away from the classic Rainbow Six formula of separate strategic missions with key entry points. Instead they threw you into the action as a small team of three against an army of terrorists. The worst part was that you had to cope with the flashing lights and busy noises of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas. These machines aren’t the dark of night that you’re usually sneaking around in, and the noises they make did nothing to help you hide, or detect the enemies in the area. There were even civilians still playing away on the slots here and there, and they were taken hostage as soon as the terrorists saw you.

However, all this pushed the team members that you controlled to an entirely new level. It showed you how a serious military operation could play out if a group of terrorists decided to his a casino in Las Vegas. Yes, it was all very stressful, but I also remember those games as two of the best Tom Clancy games I have ever played. The combination of bright lights and loud noises was perfect, and I think they would still be perfect today in a Rainbow Six Siege map.

A Vegas casino lends itself really well to any mode in Siege. Rescuing a civilian hostage has already been built into the universe. All Ubisoft would need to do is cleverly build the map with exits and corridors, and they’d have a fantastic base to build on. Defending or attacking the bombs might be harder to work in, because you’d need a few distinct rooms in a casino. However, these do exist, it’s just that there’s also usually a ground floor with a lot of slots on too.

I’m not quite sure why it’s taking so long for Ubisoft to implement a Vegas map. Maybe there’s too much of a link between the gambling going on in the casino, and the gambling that’s also going on with their lootboxes. As time goes on, and legislation changes, it could also be an issue simply placing gamers in a virtual casino. Still, I’d love to one day see Rainbow Six Vegas make a return in the form of a map at the very least. I think there’s definitely room for two new Operators from the main story, but I won’t push my luck.

The Division 2 Update 1.26 August 25 Fixes Rolled Out

Earlier today, Ubisoft Massive not only conducted maintenance on The Division 2 servers, but the studio has also released The Division 2 update 1.26 August 25 patch! Note that this is a small download and not the big Title Update 11 that people have been looking forward to that includes a whole mess of new content and changes.

It does, however, include the blue screen crash fix for the P4.

The Division 2 Update 1.26 August 25 patch notes:

  • Fixed an issue that caused targets marked by “Hostile Negotiations” (Negotiator’s Dilemma) to receive very high, multiplied damage when shooting critical hits at Ballistic Shields.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some players to get stuck in an infinite loading screen during Liberty Island (Story mode) if they interacted with the final door while their character fell unconscious.
  • (PS4 Only) Improvements to PS4 client stability to decrease the number of bluescreen crashes.

Those looking forward to Title Update 11, that patch will bring Skyscraper mode into the fold, as well as gear transmog! Once we know more details about that, we’ll let our readers know.

Same as before, if you spot any changes in the game not listed in the patch notes above, leave a comment below or end us an email tip!

Upon checking a calendar this would happen to fall right on a Friday, which is the typical release day of a major title. The script also confirms that a multiplayer reveal will be happening on September 9.

This info is also being collaborated with Modern Warzone, a known COD leaker in the community. He goes on to state that Cold War will be a direct sequel to the first Black Ops game, effectively removing the sequels from being canon.

Leaked description of Cold War:

The iconic Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War – the direct sequel to the original and fan-favorite Call of Duty®: Black Ops.

Black Ops Cold War will drop fans into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player Campaign, where players will come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters and more.

As elite operatives, you will follow the trail of a shadowy figure named Perseus who is on a mission to destabilize the global balance of power and change the course of history. Descend into the dark center of this global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason and Hudson and a new cast of operatives attempting to stop a plot decades in the making.

Beyond the Campaign, players will bring a Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment into the next generation of Multiplayer and Zombies experiences.

Welcome to the brink. Welcome to Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War.

Leaked images of references to Perseus.

To help back up these leaks a couple of video files have also leaked revolving around the rumored pre-order bonus of Sergeant Woods being a playable operator in Modern Warfare and Warzone. Down below you’ll find a rough cut of his introduction along with a kill animation.

It is said that Woods will be a pre-order bonus for Cold War. Additionally early access to an open beta is also referenced in the game’s files. Some images of the Black Ops Cold War cross-gen bundle and ultimate editions were also found in the latest update. We reported on these previously.

Furthermore, there are some indication that tomorrow’s Black Ops Cold War Warzone live event will have some rewards tied to it for players to earn upon completion. There are also hints of Zombies being added for a new Battle Royale mode, although that isn’t specified as part of the live event or as a new experience coming after Cold War release.

New art for Cold War

Despite these leaks being packed in the latest Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone update, we suggest you take these with a grain of salt. It won’t be long however as the live event will be airing tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET/1 a.m. HKT. We’ll be sure to report on the details as they come so stay tuned!

Marvel’s Avengers Beta Stats Lists More Than 28M Hours Played; Survey Sent Out for Feedback

With Marvel’s Avengers’ beta wrapping up this weekend, it seems Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix managed to rope a lot of gamers to play it, as the official Marvel’s Avengers beta stats have been revealed, and it’s mighty enough to impress even Thor.

The Marvel’s Avengers beta stats have been sent out by Square Enix via email, to the email address associated with your Square Enix account. Aside from the stats, there’s also a survey that the studio wants you to answer for feedback regarding the beta. Check out the stats and survey link below.

Marvel’s Avengers beta feedback survey link

The survey is quite a long one, and asks people to grade the beta based on whether they had fun, how much technical issues it had, whether the beta made you want to purchase the game and more. If you played the beta, here’s your chance to be heard by Square Enix, so get to it.

Speaking of feedback, don’t forget to check out our beta impressions to see what we made of it. Not only that, but we even listed down the top changes/fixes we want to see made in the final game based on beta feedback.

Marvel’s Avengers will be released this September 4 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

New Anthem Development Update Planned for September

We already know that BioWare is hard at work in rebooting Anthem. While we got a new Anthem development update on August 1, it looks like the studio is gearing up for another one in September!

This was revealed by BioWare Austin Studio Director Christian Dailey where he shared that they are planning something in September, and we’ll even know what the topic is this week (hopefully).

Hopefully, it touches on some of the seasonal content they’re planning and maybe changes to the combat loop. Or maybe something about the mission variety. The sky’s the limit, and we’re hoping BioWare nails Anthem 2.0 out of the park.

What do you want to see in this September’s Anthem news update? Perhaps gameplay footage or a tease regarding the Anthem Battlefield and battle royale prototypes the devs are testing in the office? Let us know your thoughts below, freelancers!

If you need a game similar to Anthem, Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers is out on September 4, and you can read up on our beta impressions to get a feel on how it plays.

Top 6 Marvel’s Avengers Beta Changes We Want to See in the Final Game

In case you didn’t know, the Marvel’s Avengers beta is now over after a few weekends of letting gamers get a taste of what we’ll play on September 4. While we’ve already posted our impressions of the beta, we’re not done there. Below are the top Marvel’s Avengers beta changes we want to see in the final game!

While we understand that the game is less than two weeks from release, we’re hoping that some of the changes we’ve outlined can be rolled out via game patches and so on. Obviously, taste is subjective, so some of the stuff mentioned below might be non-issues for you, but for the most part, we think the Marvel’s Avengers beta changes we’ve listed will be something players will want to see.

Top 6 Marvel’s Avengers Beta Changes We Want to See

Have a cleaner UI/markers

Crystyal Dynamics has a lot of stuff for players to customize, tweak, and such in Marvel’s Avengers. While everything is accessible in the menu screen, it’s not as intuitive as one might expect. There’s so many tabs, columns, numbers, overlays and other stuff that will overwhelm some players.

While there’s a “Hold L2 to equip best gear” option, players on the game’s subreddit have already pointed out how that is kind of broken and won’t actually give you the best loadout

Marvel's Avengers PC Requirements

Performance improvements

While it’s easy to say that the Marvel’s Avengers beta ran into tech issues given it’s an older build and it’s a beta, the frame rate drops and other bugs that surfaced were a tad too much, and has me wondering how much fixes can Crystal Dynamics actually implement before launch.

There were multiple instances of frame rate drops whenever the action got too hectic, or there were too many stuff going on when it comes to particle effects, the number of on-screen characters and so on.

This is one thing that could be remedied by multiple post-launch updates, and we’re hoping that a large chunk of this has been sorted out for the launch build.

Marvel's Avengers Beta Update 1.05

Variety is the spice of life

While the beta released to gamers had a large amount of content to chew on, most of the missions involved the Avengers going into a room and kicking the crap out of every enemy in the area before moving on to the next area, and then doing the same. Either that or you have to stand on something to wait for a meter to start filling up, or blast through three objectives in one room/level in order to advance to the next.

Sure, the Abomination boss fight and the Titan mech thing offered a glimpse at some of the boss encounters we’ll see eventually, but we’re hoping that even if you’re doing regular missions, you won’t be doing the same thing over and over. Here’s to hoping to more mission variety and enemies to kick ass that’s not manufactered by AIM.

In-game currency overload

Check the screenshot above: You see those numbers and icons at the bottom most of the image? Yeah, that’s the in-game currency the game uses to upgrade armors and other stuff. There are also credits that can be earned to purchase stuff from the in-game marketplace.

First impressions from the beta regarding these? They’re way too many of them to keep track. While these things aren’t tied to microtransactions (at least from what we know), it’s still a chore to keep track of. You collected so many of these that I just stopped caring.

Will this be easier to track in the final game? Most likely, but even so, there’s so many stuff to shove into players faces all at once.

Make loot/gear visible on characters, and make it easier to spot and obtain!

In games like Destiny, The Division and other games similar to Marvel’s Avengers, the moment you snag some sweet gear. you’ll want to equip it and see how it complements not only your character’s build, but also how it looks. That won’t be the case with Marvel’s Avengers though. While there are rarities when it comes to loot, your character will, for the part, look the same.

I understand why Crystal Dynamics went with this given we do have character skins, but couldn’t there have been a compromise? It’s not just aesthetics, either. In some games, you can see what kind of armor or level a character was just by their armor. Sadly, that won’t be the case with Marvel’s Avengers. Will it matter in the long run, though? Your guess is as good as mine.

Unannounced Marvel's Avengers Heroes

Give us a social space!

This last one seems like a no-brainer but it should be worth mentioning. Remember how fun it is to fool around in Destiny in the Tower with your friends? Well, you can’t do that in Marvel’s Avengers given there’s no equivalent. Heck, even BioWare acquiesced for Anthem when it comes to this with the Launch Bay.

The War Table just shows you what missions you can join and where. Once you’ve done that, you can then choose to enter matchmaking, and if you match with people, you’ll then see their character in the main before the main mission loads. That’s pretty much it. Your skins and emotes? Yeah, you’ll get to show them off in a mission, which isn’t really the best place to do that given you have loads of enemies trying to take your head off.

It’s a small thing in the sum of things, but it’s also a great way to just hang back. I mean, I remember times when me and my friends just fooled around in the Tower in Destiny in between missions, and that’s part of the social aspect of these games, right?

Well, there you have it! Will any of these be fixed come launch or soon after? We honestly don’t know. But for everyone’s sake, we hope Crystal Dynamics is taking a look at these. What do you want fixed or changed in Marvel’s Avengers based on the beta? Let us know down below in the comments.

– Fixed a crash happening when two attacks were being executed at the same time while playing in online co-op

Some of these changes in the Xbox One version were part of the Hellpoint patch released on the PS4 version two weeks ago.

Semi-conscious, a group of Entrati researchers will be your guides as you venture out into the Cambion Drift to complete Bounties, collect Resources, conserve wildlife and restore Deimos! You’ll learn much more about the Entrati when you start to dive into Heart of Deimos, Tenno!

Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 Mid-Season Update Hitting Later Today, Here’s What’s Coming

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone players, there’s a ton of content headed your way later! Activision has today announced that the Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 mid-season update will be releasing later at 11 p.m. PT/2 a.m. ET/2 p.m. HKT!

Players will be getting a load of new content! Multiplayer will be getting a new map, a new variation of Ground War, and even something for single-player too! Check out details on what Activision calls the Games of Summer, which begins this August 28 and runs to September 7, below.

For the first time in Call of Duty franchise history, community members from around the world – both those who own Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone – will be able to represent their country in easy-to-play, hard-to-master, single-player Trials of skill. By earning medals in each Trial, competitors will prove which country’s Tier One Operators are truly the best in the world.

Within Games of Summer, there are five Trials. These miniature experiences are similar to those introduced at Modern Warfare’slaunch and in post-launch Season updates.

Trials will be available for Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone players, starting on August 28 at 10 a.m. PT. Players will have unlimited entries, meaning you can keep playing them to set your best time or score and go for Gold.

Full details on the Games of Summer trials can be found here. Participants who enter will gain rewards based on performance with each Trial (rewards can only be received once), though everyone who participates will earn the Games of Summer Cup” weapon chamr. Rewards for the event include stuff like vehicle skins, XP tokens, vehicle horns, calling cards, blueprints and more.

The FiNN LMG – (Available at Season Five Reloaded Launch)

The FiNN LMG – (Available at Season Five Reloaded Launch)

The heaviest primary weapon class in the game has a new challenger, the FiNN LMG and it will punch well above its weight against many of the existing LMGs.

This new LMG can be earned by completing an in-game challenge or a blueprint variant can be acquired by purchasing the “Mainframe” bundle.

An agile, mobile, and hostile tank of an LMG, the FiNN’s ultra-light and open-bolt design is uniquely paired with advanced recoil controls. This all adds up to a weapon with exceptional full-auto accuracy while still being lightweight, allowing for a unique playstyle that further blurs the line between assault rifle and LMG.

Multiplayer:

Modern WarfareContent: Ground War Gets Reinforced (Available During Season Five Reloaded)

Owners of the full version of Modern Warfare, can experience a new way to play Ground War.

Reinforcements Inbound – Ground War Reinforce Arrives

In this Ground War mode variant, three flags are positioned towards the center of the map, in a similar manner to Domination mode.

If you or a teammate are downed, you enter Spectator mode instead of respawning, rejoining the battle only after a new flag is secured by your teammates. Claim all three flags and you automatically win the round. Win enough rounds, and your massive platoon will all earn the victory

Gunfight:

Gunfight – Tournament, New Map Stadium (Available with Games of Summer)

What’s Games of Summer without a tournament? Gunfight Tournament returns as a head-to-head test of gunskill, map knowledge, and coordination, and a proper tournament deserves a Stadium.

The pitch level of the larger Stadium has become available for Gunfight. It’s a much smaller play space in the Gunfight mode, so remember to use those tents, crates, and other obstacles for cover, especially if an Overtime flag is on the line.

Gunfight tournament winners will be rewarded with XP, high tier cosmetic rewards, and bragging rights as victors of the summer tournament.

New Game Mode: King Slayer (Available During Season Five Reloaded)

King Slayer is large-scale Team Deathmatch on Battle Royale where teams fight to earn points by defeating hostile players. However, the circle doesn’t collapse, rather it moves around the map for an agile battle on the go. The top five team’s top scoring player will be marked as a ‘king’ on the Tac-Map. Eliminate kings to get additional points and be awarded a free Killstreak.

There’s also a slew of cosmetic items that will be available starting later tonight too! Check that out here.

Once the patch is live, we’ll be sure to let our readers know. In other Call of Duty news, Black Ops Cold War, which is this year’s Call of Duty, will be revealed on August 26! Here’s exactly when along with other details.
