  • You can choose between two modes: [Great General’s Crucible] or [Berserker’s Bloodshed].
  • Upon entering the selected mode, you will see boss information and battle records (weapons used and time recorded), and you can begin your challenge.

In this mode, you must consecutively defeat all the bosses in a group using limited gear and resources.

Before the battle begins, you can use the Tome of Challenge to upgrade or reset your stats.
The amount of Lacrima required to level up is the same as in main missions.

There are five groups in total, and defeating all the bosses in a group will unlock the next.

  • You can talk to Blade Phantom to exchange the Tokens for other items.

In this mode, you can earn rewards with each victory, grow stronger, and defeat the final boss.

Before the battle begins, you can use the Tome of Challenge to upgrade or reset your stats.
The amount of Lacrima required to level up is the same as in main missions.

There is no Continue option if you give up or your character dies during battle in the middle of the challenge. If you restart the challenge, you must fight the first boss again.

Bend Studio has rolled out Days Gone Remastered update 1.025.717 on PS5, and this adds “Balanced” mode, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support and a lot more. Aside from visuals, this patch also addresses various bugs related to controls, graphics and more.

If you’ve held off playing the game, then you’re in luck, since this not only irons out bugs, but also makes the game a lot more pleasing visually.

That’s one meaty patch by Bend Studio! Let’s hope this isn’t the last one we’ll get. Will we get a sequel to Days Gone if the remaster sells well? Based on the game’s developers, we won’t given Sony doesn’t want two zombie games in their portfolio.

Battlefield Labs Client Gets a Major Update and Players Are Assuming It’s for a Full Release

[summaraize]

Could we be getting a proper and official look at Battlefield Labs soon? That’s what people who are in the test thinks, as DICE has rolled out a major update to the client that has the playerbase buzzing.

Before reading on, take note that EA hasn’t even revealed the official name of the new Battlefield game, so take everything you read with a bag of salt, though the details about the client update is the real deal.

Battlefield Labs Gets Updated and It’s Very Thorough

battlefield labs leak

Thanks to the folks at the BF1 Group, who mentioned that new builds of the BF Labs client have surfaced, and according to them “all signs” suggest EA might be preparing Labs for a future release.

The new content packs that appeared for BF Labs include:

  • Pack 1: 6.9 GB
  • Pack 2: 11.31 GB
  • Pack 3: 5.31 GB
  • Packs 4 & 5: Size currently unknown

According to the leakers, the main build has been split into smaller parts, and one theory is that this was done to make distribution easier via digital storefronts. What’s more interesting here is, the client now lists “Standard Edition” and “Deluxe Edition.” While they are not available for purchase yet, the fact that these are part of the builds is an interesting development.

The “glacier-bf-labs-bundle” has also appeared, and is labeled both as “beta” and “FullGame.” Also, the datamine suggests Battlefield Labs is also being tested on Steam, and this internal testing started a year ago,

One build is tied to the date of June 17. It’s unknown yet whether this is a placeholder date or an actual launch date. Given EA has mentioned that they are about to do a “major global reveal” of the new Battlefield this summer, could we perhaps get an announcement and a shadowdrop of the Battlefield Labs client for people to check out?

Battlefield Labs New Localizations and UI Features

There’s a build tied to an upcoming Asian release or testing phase, which we know is kicking off this week on PS5. Chinese and Japanese languages were added, new in-game sound settings are also available, and this includes separate volume sliders for the driver radio, passenger radio and overall music.

Even more exciting, there’s a new startup intro that has also been spotted. There are also “Buy” buttons for content packs that can be seen, though they’re not functional yet. Chances are, this is connected to the in-game store interface.

Single-Player, Anti-Cheat, and Premium Systems

A new folder labeled “SP” was found in the latest files — clearly pointing to a single-player mode. Voiceover for the campaign currently exists only in English, but multi-language packs are already present.

An anti-cheat installer has also been added, which some people in the group think is a “strong signal” that the developers are preparing for public testing.

Datamined Items

  • Server Rentals, Classic Modes were spotted in the client code.\
  • References to server rentals (ServerRented)
  • Server browser elements like Favorites and History — possibly tied to Portal support
  • A variable called UseClassicScoreboard

Modes listed in the files include:

  • Conquest
  • Rush
  • Breakthrough
  • Team Deathmatch,
  • Squad TDM
  • Payload
  • Domination
  • Tank Superiority
  • Strikepoint

Another mention of Battle Royale has been spotted too.

Battle Royale, Season 1 & Premium

The code explicitly mentions a BattleRoyale mode. There are also placeholders for Season 1 with weekly missions (like “play on Cosmodrome” — clearly a placeholder task for now).

Regarding monetization, there were also premium-related terms spotted in the code too.

  • premium_subscription
  • BattlepassPathType_PremiumRewards
  • BFUIXPBoosterPerkType_PartyPremium

While this seems like EA and DICE are preparing for something big with Battlefield Labs, it could also mean nothing to us. Perhaps these changes will be utilized by the devs, though that doesn’t mean they’ll involve the general public. Again, the datamined stuff are the real deal, but what they’re for and whether DICE is planning to release Battlefield Labs to the masses is a theory at this point, so don’t take the leakers’ word as fact for now.

[summaraize]

Respawn Entertainment has pushed out  Apex Legends update 1.000.099 on consoles and PC. This patch resolves the “encryption protocol violation” error that players are seeing, alongside other issues such as prestige skin offers greyed out after previewing an offer, and more.

The patch notes below also contain yesterday’s changes from a server-side patch.

Apex Legends New Update for May 14 Fixes “View Placement” Issues and More

Apex Legends Patch 1.000.099 Here’s what got fixed today per Respawn:

  • The Gun-Shield Generator hop-up not functioning on the Hemlok
  • The “Encryption protocol violation” error some players saw when loading the title screen
  • Prestige Skins Offers becoming greyed out after previewing an offer owned
  • Conduit and Ballistic thematic packs having the normal Apex Pack art

Here are the fixes for the server-side patch released yesterday on all platforms:

  • A fix for some crashes players were experiencing, especially on Storm Point

Changes to the Bocek and Havoc, including:

Bocek Compound Bow:

  • Max charge damage increased to 65 (was 55)
  • Explosive arrow on hit damage increased to 55 (was 40)

Ubisoft Has Delayed Some of Its Biggest Games in Development to Ensure Higher Quality

[summaraize]

Ubisoft has revealed that it has delayed some of its biggest games currently in development, but has not shared which ones. It seems that the company wants to give developers more time to create games that meet both the company’s and fans’ expectations.

This information comes from Ubisoft’s latest financial report, where the company explained the delays by using Assassin’s Creed Shadows as an example. This game was delayed from 2024 to this year to ensure a high-quality product, and it has received mostly positive feedback.

Which Games Have Been Delayed?

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Ubisoft did not specify exactly which games were delayed but described them as “some of our biggest productions” the company is working on. This suggests that some of the company’s main franchises might be involved.

The company also expects strong game releases for the fiscal years 2026-27 and 2027-28, which end on March 31, 2027, and March 31, 2028, respectively.

Ubisoft said that after a detailed review of its plans between October and December, it decided to give extra development time to some important games to create the best conditions for success. The company added that this decision had a positive impact on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and expects strong game releases in the years ahead.

One game that’s still in development with very few updates is the Splinter Cell remake. Announced back in December 2021, there haven’t been many new details about the game since then. However, Splinter Cell remake is likely part of the company’s “biggest productions,” and it’s now speculated that the game might not be released until 2026 or 2027.

In addition, Ubisoft confirmed that several games will be released by the end of March. These include the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Rainbow Six Mobile.

Ubisoft’s financial report also mentioned that the fiscal year 2025-26 will benefit from a strong lineup, with games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Siege X, Anno 117: Pax Romana, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Rainbow Six Mobile, and The Division Resurgence expected to boost game sales.

The  Old Course at St Andrews Links – Located in Scotland, The Old Course at St Andrews Links, commonly known as “The Home of Golf,” makes its first-ever appearance in the PGA TOUR 2K franchise. This historic 18-hole course is available now as a free update for all players.

Season 2 Featured Archetype is the Greenskeeper – a master of precision putting. Pros who embody this archetype include PGA TOUR 2K25 cover athlete and 2022 U.S. Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick, The 2021 Open Championship winner Collin Morikawa, and LPGA Hall of Famer Lydia Ko. By creating a MyPLAYER with the Greenskeeper Archetype, players will be able to complete specific seasonal quests tailored to this playstyle for Season 2 and earn rewards. Once a Greenskeeper MyPLAYER reaches 85 OVR, they’ll have the ability to unlock the “Green Reader” skill. This skill increases the resolution of the green grids to more accurately highlight slope severity and provides a major edge while putting.

Challenges – Bite-sized Challenges with set parameters will push players to adapt and strategize. As players improve their skills, they’ll also earn rewards. New Challenges will be added over time, so there will always be a fresh Challenge to conquer.

To complement the Challenges mode, Season 2 introduces a new 3-Hole course, developed by HB Studios in partnership with Charles Schwab. This new, in-game course launches May 21, just one day before the pros tee off at the Charles Schwab Challenge on May 22. This in-game experience serves as a modern extension of the historic tournament, offering players the opportunity to unlock 11 exclusive in-game apparel rewards.

New Clubhouse Pass – Complete with free reward tiers including a Cobra White Snapback, Malbon Shorts, a Ruby Titleist T100 Iron, and much more! Players who reach the Free Tier 25 will earn a new free shot type: The Long Flop. As with a standard Flop Shot, this shot is performed with a wedge and features a high trajectory, plenty of spin, and a short run. However, this shot is designed to carry farther; perfect for when players need to flop but need just a little extra reach to achieve greatness.

For players who purchase Clubhouse Pass Premium, the astounding number of rewards available to earn throughout the season include a Greenskeeper Hard Hat, Greenskeeper Boots, and a Ruby Limited Edition Club: The Titleist Scotty Cameron Phantom 5.5 Putter. Clubhouse Pass Premium golfers can also unlock additional Long Flop stat boosts not included in the Free Tiers. While each season offers its own Premium Pass, Seasons 1-5 are also all included in the Member’s Pass, alongside the Clubhouse Gear Pack, which delivers a themed outfit per body type per season****. Players can progress through each Clubhouse Pass at their own pace, even after the release of subsequent Seasons, and Premium rewards may be unlocked retroactively at any time for a Clubhouse Pass up to the current tier of progression.

Once another patch is out for PGA Tour 2K25, we’ll have it up on MP1st. Given the new content that was released today by the developers, we’re expecting a follow-up patch might be needed to fix any bugs that arises.

FBC: Firebreak Hands-On Preview – In Control

While Remedy Entertainment is known for narrative-driven games like the Alan Wake franchise and Control, the studio is branching out with its first multiplayer-focused game FBC: Firebreak due out soon.

The studio invited select press and content creators to get some early hands-on time to check out the game’s mechanics, its feel, and how it’s shaping up overall. If you’re wondering just what FBC: Firebreak is all about, we’re here to enlighten you, and give an idea what kind of game Remedy is cooking up.

Control’s Weirdness, Left 4 Dead’s Panic—Welcome to FBC: Firebreak

You know, the idea of a studio that has been known for its single-player games, leaping into the multiplayer market, is an idea that is often viewed with skepticism. Fans naturally worry that the studio might lose what made their previous games so special—strong narratives, carefully crafted worlds, and memorable characters—in favor of chasing broader trends or short-term engagement. And while that fear isn’t entirely unfounded, what Remedy has done with FBC: Firebreak shows that a studio can bring its identity into a completely different genre without sacrificing what makes it unique.

So the question many of you may have is, what exactly is FBC: Firebreak? If you haven’t seen Remedy’s first look video at the game from many months ago, I strongly suggest doing so. But to keep things short, FBC: Firebreak is a new cooperative game set in Remedy’s Control universe. Taking place many years after the events of Control, the Oldest House (Federal Bureau of Control headquarters) has been under lockdown as a countermeasure to keep the Hiss, an extra-dimensional being, from escaping and destroying the world. But the Hiss wasn’t the only thing trapped inside the Oldest House, as members of the FBC, non-employees, and several bystanders also got trapped inside.

Over the years since the lockdown, things have become dire as resources become scarcer each passing day. In hopes of finally lifting the lockdown, a new team, dubbed the Firebreak, is formed to drive back the Hiss and take control of the Oldest House once more.

That’s the gist of things in FBC: Firebreak, and honestly, about as much story as you can expect. The reason is that, despite being set in the Control universe and in some ways a continuation, FBC: Firebreak can and should be seen as a completely standalone experience. No prior knowledge of Control or Alan Wake games is needed. I highly recommend them because they’re spectacular games, but you don’t need to know much of the story outside of the setup to understand what FBC: Firebreak is about.  All you have to know is that it’s you and some friends (or randoms) against hordes of supernatural beings. FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative shooter that plays to the tune of Left 4 Dead, but if Remedy made it instead.

At its core, FBC: Firebreak is all about surviving together in the bizarre, shifting spaces of the Oldest House. If you’ve played Control, you already know how unsettling and unpredictable that environment can be, which does come with progression through a job, essentially missions, that players undertake. Players will have to work together, and if you don’t go in correctly equipped, it could mean total disaster for a run. FBC: Firebreak doesn’t limit players in what guns they can use, though it does have something called Crisis Kits, which in many ways are unique classes built for this game.

Jump, Fix, and Splash kits are the available kits for launch, each of them having three types of tools. Some focus on healing and using turrets, while others apply status effects, and even power up generators from a distance so that you don’t have to do it manually. Regardless of the tools, they do seem to be fitted in a way that promotes synergy. For example, when using the splash kit, you can wet everything, making it conductive to the Jump kit’s electric firing. Using this combo on enemies can easily stun them, and when you have a horde of them coming for you, it’s important to be able to slow them down anyway you can.

The general gunplay feels pretty good too, and the game has a whole perk system that allows you to apply certain buffs and such, such as a chance to apply freeze when firing and other elemental effects. Because we only had access to about three hours of gametime, we didn’t get a chance to see every available perk, but it did become pretty clear that progression and unlocking perks would be an important, as we tried jumping into the higher difficulty jobs, only to get our asses kicked. It was not until later, after having more perks and abilities unlocked, that we actually managed to beat that specific difficulty level.

In addition to perk progression, there’s something called Requisitions. It’s essentially a battle pass, which comes in both free and paid versions, and functions like Warbonds from Helldivers 2. I would say they’re much more generous as rounds are far shorter, and collecting the free in-game currency to unlock tiers in these passes is very easy. It does come with a challenge, though, as often you’ll find these currencies in shelter rooms. Upon opening one, you’ll be able to pick up a bunch of classified documents, which translate to currency, but this comes with the added risk of summoning a bunch of Hiss enemies. When it comes to higher difficulties, it becomes a risk versus reward situation, as your chances of survival drop drastically, and dying means you lose out on these rewards unless you or a teammate picks up the currency before completing a job.

Jobs is the name of what missions are called, and at launch, there will be five different types of jobs to play through, with more coming later as free updates. We had the chance to play through three of them, but their general flow boiled down to going into the level, killing a swarm of enemies, while trying to complete objectives, then, with you needing to extract out via the elevator you used to get there. Sure, jobs will vary in objectives, such as fixing generators and fans around a map, escorting some sort of payload to a spot, or tracking down a giant posted note monster. But in between that, it’s all about facing the horde, and with this being a Remedy game, you can expect some pretty interesting enemies that come in all kinds of variety. Many of them are from control, but there are some new ones like the posted note monster, and humanoid versions of it that will at times play dead, only to explode and cover you in posted notes for Hiss enemies to take you down.

Where the fun mainly comes in is just the fact of playing, even more so with friends, and going up against what feels like an infinite army of enemies. Beating those odds, overcoming the challenges that can be had, and having a successful run all-clicks in Firebreak, I couldn’t wait to get back into the action after having progressed to test out newly unlocked tools and perks. It does seem like a pretty straightforward game, nothing that will shift the paradigm of the genre by any means, but given this is Remedy’s first foray into the multiplayer space, FBC: Firebreak is off to a great start. At least for the most part, because there is one area that I do think Remedy should improve on.

The One Major Design That Could Make or Break FBC: Firebreak

In general, my impression of FBC: Firebreak is pretty positive, and I’m surprised by what Remedy has managed to create for a genre they’re entirely new to. What essentially feels like an old-school shooter, in line with, say, Left 4 Dead, FBC: Firebreak is looking to be a very promising game, though there is one mechanic that I do feel Remedy has to address before launch.

Technically, there are two, but the big one, in my opinion, is how ammo works. Given the type of game that FBC: Firebreak is, ammo is an essential resource. However, it’s treated in the game as if it’s supposed to be a survival-type game (like DayZ, or even an extraction shooter), where ammo and other resources come in so little that you have to keep track and ensure something is worth shooting at. The problem is, you don’t get given that choice, as enemies nearly endlessly home in on you in the masses. So you’re going to run out of ammo stupendously quickly, and I mean minutes after a match starts.

The solution to getting more ammo is a pretty puzzling one. During our playtest, we only saw that we could either use an ammunition station, which were typically near the start of levels or checkpoints into the next part of one, or find them on the ground in shelter rooms. There are only a few rounds in the shelter rooms, certainly not enough to share between three players. On top of this, when you open these rooms, hordes of enemies begin spawning. So the ammo you do pick up is probably going to be depleted right away.

Ammunition stations have their problems, as while they’re infinite as long as they’re charged, they create an odd loop of gameplay. You encounter a group of enemies, run out of ammo, and more enemies spawn. You rush back to the station, grab ammo, kill some enemies, run out again, more enemies, and rinse and repeat. There’s an over-reliance on a mechanic that I think is holding back a much bigger experience.

This over-reliance became even clearer during our boss fight against the giant paper monster, when we constantly ran out of ammo and had to run back to the station. What should have been a relatively short to medium-length fight ended up feeling like it dragged on for far too long.

I think that goes against the overall flow of the game, where it wants you to go deeper into the Oldest House, with the challenge ramping up as you go, and players using teamwork more often. Because it all eventually ended up leading back into that ammunition run loop. It’s especially true on the higher level of difficulties, though to be fair, being under leveled and under geared likely had a part in our survival rate.

Either way, I do feel it’s something that needs tweaking, like giving us more starting ammo, or better yet, having enemies drop ammo so that players can stay constantly fighting without the need to backtrack. I know resources are light because of the lore of it all, but I don’t think it should be, at least for this type of game. There needs to be a balance for it, and I hope Remedy can figure something out before launch next month.

The second thing goes along with the ammo—item pick-ups. Now, there are perks that make picking up an item faster, but I don’t understand why it takes so long for the character to pick up a single magazine or a document. I get it, you’re supposed to decide amongst your teammates who gets what, so it’s to stop someone from rushing in and grabbing everything, but it’s still pretty slow. When you have hordes of enemies coming at you, you’d want a quick getaway, especially with how little ammo you’ll get anyway.

I’m unsure how other media attendees feel about this, so it could be a me thing. Even so, I think the ammo system needs to be reworked because it’s detrimental to the experience, bogging down what I genuinely feel is a fantastic game. The core is strong; the foundations are there to be built upon, and the atmosphere is pure Remedy weirdness in the best way.

Closing Thoughts

It will be very interesting to see how the public reacts to FBC: Firebreak when it launches next month, but from what I’ve played, I can confidently say Remedy is in a prime position to deliver something rather unexpected. FBC: Firebreak may look like just another co-op shooter on the surface, but once you get your hands on it, you realize it’s unmistakably a Remedy game through and through—strange, unsettling, atmospheric, and utterly committed to its world.

Sure, it’s not without flaws, and how it handles ammo and pick-ups could seriously impact the long-term fun if left unchecked. But the core experience? It’s solid, it’s exciting, and it’s pure fun. For a studio known for their single-player games, Remedy has taken a risk by stepping outside their comfort zone, and while there’s still work to do, they’ve managed to bring their identity along for the ride. If they can fine-tune the rough edges before launch, FBC: Firebreak might just end up being one of the year’s most pleasantly surprising co-op experiences.

FBC: Firebreak releases on June 17 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those subscribed to either Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PlayStation Plus (Extra and Premium) can play on day one as part of their subscription.

[summaraize]

While Larian Studios is finished dropping new features for Baldur’s Gate 3 with Patch 8, the studio isn’t done fixing the game. Today, the studio released Hotfix 31, which console gamers will see as Baldur’s Gate 3 update 1.800.304 and should be a small download.

The biggest issues fixed include bug fixes to scripting and gameplay, and a slow of improvements to the new subclasses introduced by Patch 8.

New Subclasses Issues Fixed With Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 1.800.304

Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 1.005.002

Here’s what’s new in the patch notes provided by Larian:

MODDING

Toolkit

  • Fixed a potential crash when loading a level without a required mod and then loading with the required mod.

GAME

Crashes and Performance

  • Fixed a crash when hovering over certain items in the inventory or while trading.
  • Fixed trippy, high-saturation graphical artefacts appearing in-game, often when teleporting using waypoints.

New Subclasses

  • Hexblade warlocks can now replace a spell at Level 2 like the other warlock subclasses.
  • Immutable Form now reacts to Arcane Shot: Banishing Arrow.
  • The Fancy Footwork passive now also works even if you miss.
  • Vaprak’s Greed now takes into account Human Versatility and increases carrying capacity accordingly by another quarter.
  • Arcane Shot: Grasping Arrow can now also damage Flying targets when they move.

  • Fixed a bug allowing Sneak Attacks to be triggered on Dirty Trick: Sand Toss.

Gameplay and Scripting

  • Removed some defunct dialogue that mistakenly made it into Minthara’s Speak with Dead dialogue in Patch 8.

  • Fixed a multiplayer bug where the Traveller’s Chest belonging to the client wouldn’t show up in the Basement (Blighted Village) camp in Act I.
  • Fixed the Illusory Double invoked with Invoke Duplicity appearing to lack equipment and armour.
  • Fixed a bug where if you had Scratch summoned and then travelled to a new region, he would be dismissed once the new region loaded and, as a bonus, appear dead in your party line.
  • All barbarian Rages now correctly gain 3 damage bonus, instead of the previous 2, for objects thrown in a Rage once they hit Level 9.
  • The movement-based Booming Blade condition will no longer apply to inanimate objects that can’t move on their own anyway.

Photo Mode

  • Fixed Wild-Shaped boars and cats not paying proper attention to the ‘Look at Camera’ option.

Take-Two Interactive Files Trademark for “Small Axe”

[summaraize]

While Take-Two Interactive has its premier studio Rockstar Games toil away at Grand Theft Auto 6, the company seems to be cooking up another mysterious title.

There’s not a lot go on, but we do know its codename at the very least, which is “Small Axe.”

Take-Two Interactive Files “Small Axe”

The filing was made in Europe, and it mentions how it’s for “Goods and services” related to “Recorded computer game and video game programs and software; downloadable computer and video game programs and software; downloadable digital materials, namely, ring tones, wallpapers, screensavers, digital music files, and graphics, videos, films, multimedia files, live action programs, motion pictures, and animation in the field of video games and computer games, all delivered via global computer networks and wireless devices; pre-recorded digital media devices featuring computer games and video games, ring tones, wallpapers, screensavers, digital music files, and graphics, videos, films, multimedia files, live action programs, motion pictures, and animation in the field of video games and computer games; pre-recorded usb flash drives featuring computer games and video games; cases for mobile phones and tablet computers; mouse pads; pre-recorded electronic media devices featuring music, namely, compact discs, and phonograph records featuring computer games and video games; downloadable computer application software for mobile phones, portable media players, tablet computers, and handheld computers, namely, downloadable computer and video game software.”

Given there’s literally zero info surrounding it, Small Axe can be anything from a sports game to a new open-world title. For reference, the last time a Take-Two Interactive trademark leaked was for “Project Ethos,” which is a free-to-play roguelike hero shooter that was announced last year for consoles and PC.

In entertainment, Small Axe references a British anthology of films created and directed by Steve McQueen that was released in 2020. While we can’t be certain, we have a hunch it’s not connected to that at all.

Hopefully, we’ll know more about Small Axe soon, but given how secretive Take-Two is, we’re not counting on anything to get leaked.

In other Take-Two news, the publisher released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which showcases some amazing visuals that’s been confirmed to run on a base PS5. Expect GTA 6 to be released in May 26, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S unless there’s another delay.

Minecraft Preview Update 1.70 for Version 1.21.90.25 Released on May 13

While Mojang released a patch for Minecraft Preview and Beta last week, the developers have released another one today, and this introduces saddle updates and more, which players will see as Minecraft Preview update 1.70 on consoles, which the studio tags as developer version 1.21.90.25.

If you’re playing the beta branch on PS5/Xbox Series, you’ll see this as Minecraft Preview and Beta patch version 1.053, with the complete patch notes available below.

Minecraft Preview Branch Gets Updated With New Saddle Features

Minecraft New Update 1.019

Features and Bug Fixes

Saddles Updates

  • We are making Saddles craftable and generally making it easier to remove them from mobs by using Shears. We have also added Leather to some loot tables instead of Saddles.

Crafting Saddles

  • Saddles can now be crafted with 3 Leather and 1 Iron Ingot
  • Recipe popup happens when a player picks up their first Leather

Loot Table Changes

Some loot tables have had Saddles removed from them and replaced with 1-5 Leather:

  • Monster Room chests
  • Ancient City chests
  • Desert Pyramid chests
  • Jungle Pyramid chests
  • Stronghold altar chests

Removing Saddles and Equipment

  • Saddles, Horse Armor, harnesses and Carpets can now be removed from the mobs they can be equipped on by using Shears
  • Saddles, Horse Armor, Harnesses, and Carpets cannot be removed by using Shears while the mob has a rider
  • Saddles, Horse Armor, Harnesses, and Carpets cannot be removed by using Shears while the player is sneaking
  • Saddles cannot be removed from Ravagers using Shears
  • Dispensers with Shears cannot remove Saddles, Horse Armor, Harnesses or Carpets equipped on mobs

Music

  • Added the following new music tracks by Amos Roddy to Cherry Groves, Forest, Desert, Grove, and Lush Cave Biomes:
    • Below and Above
    • Broken Clocks
    • Fireflies
    • Lilypad
    • O’s Piano
  • Added a new Music Disc with the track “Tears” by Amos Roddy
  • The Ghast now drops the “Tears” Music Disc when killed by a Fireball deflected by a Player

Blocks

  • Fixed Sculk Vein block looking small and elongated when held or in an item frame
  • Dried Ghast Block will now block flowing water instead of popping

Gameplay

  • Repositioned the teleporting point when using an End Gateway to not be too close to a cliff edge, if possible (MCPE-174465)

Graphical

  • Fixed locators for leashing mobs being offset (MCPE-217604)
  • Changed shadows in Vibrant Visuals so that they cast further at sunrise and sunset. Prior to this change, shadows were clamped at a 30 degree angle relative to the horizon. This clamp has now been reduced to 10 degrees. This also improves an issue where specular highlights, light rays and volumetric fog were not properly occluded when the sun or moon was behind a mountain at a low angle.
  • Added temperature grading settings to the color grading json files for Vibrant Visuals. Schemas must specify a format version of 1.21.90 to access this new setting.
    • New temperature object added to color_grading
    • enabled set to true or false controls if temperature grading is enabled
    • type set to either white_balance or color_temperature controls the type of grading applied
      • white_balance uses the temperature value to adjust the camera’s white point. Lower temperature values will cause the scene to appear more blue.
      • color_temperature is the inverse of the white balance operation. Lower temperature values will cause the scene to appear more red.
    • temperature sets the temperature in kelvin
    • Example:

  • Fixed water not being rendered on the opposite side of clouds in Vibrant Visuals (MCPE-203239)

Items

  • Now the Mooshroom Spawn Egg uses its own colors and no longer has two pixels that are the same as the Cow Spawn Egg texture
  • Spore Blossoms destroyed by water are now dropped as items (MCPE-127677)

Leashing Updates

  • Attaching a leashed entity to another entity and using Shears to cut leashes now take precedence over other interactions
    • Example: Attempting to shear a leashed Sheep will now un-leash it instead of shearing it
  • Leash break distance is now calculated between the centers of the two entities’ collision boxes, aligning with the rest of the leash physics calculations

Mobs

  • Now the Cold Cow variant has the correct mirroring of its horn texture
  • Happy Ghast no longer spins rapidly when leashed to a fence with a Lead (MCPE-216786)
  • Flying mobs no longer make footstep sounds when moving close to the ground
  • Happy Ghasts will now correctly detect players on a different mount on top of them
  • Happy Ghast detection of players now extend 1 block outwards from themselves in x,z direction and 2 blocks above them

Sound

  • Updated Dried Ghast block sounds for step, place and fall from wood-sounds to custom sounds. Changed the ambient and break sound to sound less alive. Removed the hit-sound and sound event for that since it breaks immediately.
  • Sound files for breaking and placing Grass blocks are now slightly louder

Stability and Performance

  • Fix a crash in split-screen mode when a player would destroy a chest or book an other player had open
  • Fixed an issue where a resource pack error could be encountered when transfering between servers that use different versions of the same resource pack
  • Fixed an issue where downloading server resources would infinitely hang if another device requested to download the same resources at the same time

User Interface

  • The “Game is paused” text from the pause screen will no longer go out of bounds. (MCPE-217394)
  • Hotbar tooltip text now has a drop shadow, to make the text more readable against bright backgrounds (MCPE-217870)
  • Fixed the issue where adjusting the brightness in the Vibrant Visuals setting caused the Creeper face icons to inaccurately reflect their expected shades, and where the brightness of the Creeper face icons were affected by the in-game environment. (MCPE-199256)
  • The Text Background Opacity accessibility setting now defaults to 60% opacity
  • The vertical angle upon which the Locator Bar arrow icons become visible now corresponds to the player’s FOV setting

Vanilla Parity

  • Fix blocks in Minecarts not being lit properly
  • Nether Fossils have been tweaked to have a placement frequency more closely aligned with Java (MCPE-74632)

There are also technical updates added by Mojang in case players are interested in that as well.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Switch 2 Version Is Something Sandfall Thinks Could Be “Interesting”

[summaraize]

With indie game hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 capturing the minds (and wallets) of gamers on consoles and PC, those who primarily game on the Nintendo platforms might be feeling a little left out.

While Sandfall hasn’t announced anything, the studio’s latest comments about the hit RPG potentially seeing a release on the Switch 2 points in a positive direction.

Will Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Be Available on the Switch 2?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

In a video chat, Sandfall CEO Guillaume Broche was asked about the Nintendo Switch 2, and given that its capabilities are now known, on whether a port would be something they’d be interested in.

Broche replied (via machine translation), “Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything. So clearly, it’s too early to say, but we’re kind of in a situation where… let’s say there are a lot of opportunities showing up — way too many at once — and we’re figuring out what we’ll go for and what we won’t. But yeah, it’s definitely something that could be interesting.”

As you can see, it’s not an outright confirmation, but it’s not a no, either. It seems that based on Broche’s reply, it’s something they’re interested in doing, and I don’t see how it would affect their bottom line outside of adding to more sales. Perhaps we’ll see Expedition 33 make their way onto the Switch 2 at some point once the console is out officially? As someone who liked the game a lot, the more gamers who experience it, the better, since something this good should be played by everyone regardless of platform.

Just like the original Switch, we’re expecting the Switch 2 to have a steady stream of RPGs available. Some of the announced RPGs for the console include: Cyberpunk 2077, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and more. Perhaps we’ll be adding Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to that list at some point in the future.

Saints Row Creators Wanted to Create a Never-Before-Seen Baldur’s Gate-Style Harry Potter RPG Long Before Hogwarts Legacy

[summaraize]

While Hogwarts Legacy has impressed many with its take on the Harry Potter universe, the creators  of Saints Row were aiming to do something groundbreaking many years ago. This was even before the release of the first Harry Potter film. The creators of Saints Row had big plans to bring the world of Harry Potter to life in an RPG style.

The game’s content was never seen by the public, and until now, no one outside of the studio knew much about it. It was recently shown to GamesRadar+ as part of a tour of The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York.

According to Andrew Borman, the director of digital preservation at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, Volition was reading the Harry Potter books and wanted to create a video game based on the magical world. This was before Chris Columbus directed the first Harry Potter movie, so they had no visual reference material to work from.

There is some confusion about when exactly this was, but it was definitely before 2001, and maybe even earlier, as the EA game adaptation of the first movie was also released in that year.

Borman shared that they had seen material from the game, which was never shown to the public before. He said, “As far as I know, this has never been seen by the public before.” Unfortunately, he could not share the material, only describing it. “It’s pretty much just PS1-era Harry and Hagrid wandering around a small, unpopulated, unfinished town.”

The game had environments and characters in the style of Baldur’s Gate, with Borman saying it was similar to Summoner. It was also noted that Hagrid in this version looked better than the one in the EA game. The game allowed switching between characters, but there wasn’t much more to it.

Borman explained, “They made this over the course of, I think, a couple of weeks. Apparently, they made just enough of a game to pitch to the rights holders, and for whatever reason, it seemingly never went any further than that.”

It is a sad story that Volition never managed to create that Harry Potter RPG in the style of Baldur’s Gate, and the studio eventually shut down after the latest Saints Row game failed to meet commercial expectations.
