Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Salvation DLC – Revelations Trailer

Activision and Treyarch have released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s upcoming DLC, Salvation.

It focuses on the new Zombies chapter, Revelations, and can be watched above.

Revelations “is the final punctuation mark” to a “conversation” that began all the way back in 2008 as an Easter Egg in Call of Duty: World at War, says Director of Zombies, Jason Blundell. “The secrets we laid out years ago will finally make sense – we’ve been waiting a long time for this.”

You can check out the previously released prologue video right here.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Salvation DLC hits PlayStation 4 on September 6 with the PC and Xbox One versions launching around a month later.

Respawn Talks Titanfall 2 Gameplay Improvements Ahead Of Second Tech Test

The second half of Respawn Entertainment’s Open Multiplayer Tech Test for their new mech-shooter, Titanfall 2, is about to kick off. But before hopping back into the fray, the studio wants fans to know that they are listening and are already hard at work addressing criticisms pointed by the community since its first taste of the game last weekend.

Developers recently posted a list of changes in the works over on their official blog, mentioning elements like Pilot mobility, Titan gameplay, and map design. Here’s the a quick look at what’s new, some of which Respawn says has “already been addressed and will be updated for weekend two of the tech test, with other changes making it into the final game.”

Pilot Mobility

  • We’ll be tuning air speed and wall-running speed to be faster.
  • Players should once again accumulate and retain more speed when chaining wallruns.

Titan Meter

  • Pilots will once again acquire a small passive amount of Titan meter every few seconds.

Titan Mobility

  • Titan dashes will recharge faster.

Map Design

  • We’ll be showcasing more maps over the next couple weeks on our website, including more traditional Titanfall maps.

HUD

  • We’re going to bring in the fade distance for enemy outlines so they don’t reveal pilots at extreme distances.

Be sure to click through to the official blog post, as there is some in-depth discussion going on when it comes to the reasoning behind some of Titanfall 2’s design choices. For example, Titan survivability hasn’t been touched, as Respawn believes players will get a better picture of the game’s overall balance once all of the options are unlocked in the full game.

Titanfall 2’s Open Multiplayer Tech Test boots up once more this Friday on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, this time with a new map on offer. Titanfall 2 launches on consoles and PC on October 28.

Treyarch Reveals Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 ‘Salvation’ DLC With New Trailer & Details

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s season of DLC comes to an end with Salvation, Treyarch’s fourth and final map pack for the game that lands on PlayStation 4 first this September 6.

The studio announced four new maps, two of which are remastered classics from previous Call of Duty titles. Here are the details from the press release:

Citadel

Once home to a powerful medieval army, this ancient castle now sits broken and abandoned. Tight corners force close-quarters engagements, while the moat and drawbridge allows for unique player movement opportunities in this mid-sized map. The last trespassers didn’t make it out alive – maybe you’ll have a better shot.

CqulscpWEAEcMoz

Micro

What’s better than a BBQ on a hot summer day? A miniaturized war zone that takes place on a well-stocked family picnic table, that’s what! Navigate this bite-size battlefield for a larger-than-life experience.

CquluLOWIAA4WJm

Outlaw

Gear up for a showdown in Outlaw; a western-style re-imagining of the fan favorite map Standoff from Call of Duty®: Black Ops II. This rough-and-tough medium-sized map brings classic engagements, flanking routes and strategic positions for long and medium ranged combat.

Cquls_fXYAAWeB-

Rupture

The Call of Duty®: World at War classic Outskirts is re-imagined as a high-tech facility, designed by a futuristic society desperate to repair the Earth’s atmosphere.

Revelations

For zombies fans, Salvation ties all loose ends with final chapter in the Origins Zombies saga.

“In Revelations, we meet up with the Origins characters after they’ve taken an epic journey through space and time – all of their struggles lead to this very moment,” Treyarch explains. “In this, the final chapter of the Zombies experience, Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai finally come face to face with the mysterious Doctor Monty in The House. Confronted by an ancient evil, our heroes must fight the zombie horde once more in the final battle to save their immortal souls.”

Director of Zombies, Jason Blundell, says Revelations “is the final punctuation mark” to a “conversation” that began all the way back in 2008 as an Easter Egg in Call of Duty: World at War. “The secrets we laid out years ago will finally make sense – we’ve been waiting a long time for this.”

You can watch the full Revelations prologue below:

Salvation will arrive on Xbox One and PC at a later date.

Halo 5: Guardians ‘Anvil’s Legacy’ DLC Announded – Brings New Maps, Content Browser, & More

Eleven months later and 343 Industries isn’t quite done with Halo 5: Guardians. More free content is on the way this September, including new maps, Forge upgrades, and more REQs.

The studio announced Anvil’s Legacy late yesterday, coming to Halo 5: Guardians on September 8. Along with new weapons, skins, vehicles, and armor, the update drops two new maps themed around the home planet of the Sangheli, Sanghelios. Mercy is a “beautiful new Arena multiplayer playspace that combines contested corridors with a mix of open sightlines,” says 343, while Temple introduces a “brand new large-scale battleground built from the ground up with Warzone Assault in mind.”

B-roll footage of gameplay on both maps reveals an elegant and highly detailed arena map alongside a bright and open Warzone map. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the arena map, Mercy, is, in fact, based on the same layout as Haven, one of Halo 4’s most popular maps. Check it out:

[youtube id=”vlnV27LNaPA”]

Many of the new Anvil’s Legacy REQs are still under wraps, but 343 did tease a new version of the classic Magnum, the Gunfighter Magnum. As per its official description, it’s a “quick draw Magnum with fast-reload magazines” and “iron sights only, no Smart-Link module is attached.”

weapon_gunfightermagnum-180dbecbb83146e69a37c9005b9e8972

Meanwhile, here are a few examples of some of the new weapons skins:

Forge friends can look forward to some major upgrades in the form of an official Forge Content Browser. According to 343, it “supports custom maps and game modes,” as well as “the ability to share and discover brand new Forge Object Groups – a new feature designed to streamline the creative process by letting players save pre-fabricated object groups such as buildings, bases, and much more.” Content will be shared between both Xbox One and Windows 10 Forge creations.

Speaking of Windows 10, Halo 5: Forge will launch on Windows 10 as the brand new Halo app, letting players “quickly and easily find, download, and launch Halo games available on Windows PCs, all while providing players with the latest news, videos, tutorials, featured community content, update notes, and more from across the entire Halo universe,” says 343.

Looks like there’s still a hefty dose of Halo 5 too look forward to. More is to come in the coming days leading up to the launch of Anvil’s Legacy, so stay tuned.

Report – PlayStation 4 Slim Model Leaks, Expected To Release Next Month

We are just two weeks away from the PlayStation meeting. It is here that Sony is expected to announce the PlayStation Neo, along with a slimmer model of the original PlayStation 4.

Many leaked images have surfaced online today of the new slim model after multiple listing on the Gumtree auction site appeared. The seller was kind enough to supply multiple images as proof that the console is indeed real. Below is a collection of the console, which is estimated to be about 15% slimmer. Aside from that, it seems that the console doesn’t come packed with any new features like 4K playback support, a feature that Microsoft included with the Xbox One S model.

Images come from Neogaf.

ThisGenGaming is also reporting that the console will release on September 14th, just one week after the PlayStation Meeting. Pricing is unknown, but being a slimmer model, we can assume it’ll be cheaper than the current PS4, if not equivalent.

Konami Announces Metal Gear Spin-Off That No One Asked For, Forgets Silent Hill

With Konami severing its ties with the mastermind behind the Metal Gear franchise, Kojima, many fans were left wondering what exactly does this mean for the beloved series. Sadly, unwanted spin-offs, it seems.

For those who don’t know, Metal Gear Survive is a four-player co-op survival zombie game that takes place in an alternative universe after the Ground Zeroes incident. Let me say that again: a four-player co-op ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GAME.

Let’s start off by saying this; The game doesn’t look bad, though it does look generic in this already over-saturated zombie market. It could be fun. It could be bad. We won’t know until it releases.

The issue is, however, the fact that Konami is taking such a beloved franchise and doing exactly what many had feared they would do with it; tainting it. What we have here is essentially a game piggybacking on the Metal Gear success. It literally takes place in an alternative universe, so you know it won’t have much to do with anything Metal Gear related. In fact, judging from the trailer alone, this is more akin to Resident Evil than it is to Metal Gear. The only thing the game looks to have going for it that makes it common with Metal Gear is that it’s using the Fox Engine. Otherwise, nothing shown in the trailer screams “Metal Gear.”

One could argue that Metal Gear Revengeance, another Metal Gear Spinoff, also falls in line with Survival. However, that actually made more sense. I mean, the main character is a cyborg ninja who hacks and slash his way through enemies, which established as a trait for that character in Metal Gear Solid 4. Konami was smart about moving away from the main series, as to leave its original creator work alone. Now, that is where Revengeance excels. It didn’t revolve around the major main character. No. Instead, they (Platinum Games) took one of the most hated characters (Metal Gear Solid 2) in the series and actually worked off what made him ‘cool’ in MGS4. Taking control over a kickass cyborg ninja was cool. The game took place after MGS4 and made little to no references, yet it worked as a standalone because the character had already been established as such.

Its no surprise that Konami would take Metal Gear in a different direction as proven in the past, but what of Kojima? Well, when Metal Gear Revengeance was announced the man really didn’t want much to do with with that specific project. And though the title was still made, Kojima eventually budged and lent a helping hand with their trailers. Even afterwards, it seemed that how well the spin-off was handled Kojima did want to get involved with it’s sequel, which has not been made yet. Kojima presented Platinum Games with his idea, which was instead of having Cyborg Raiden they could use Gray Fox. For those who don’t know who Gray Fox is, he was one of the series most earliest character, going all the way back to the original Metal Gear series. Upon his introduction in Metal Gear Solid 1, Kojima had transformed the character into a Cyborg Ninja. Fans of the series quickly supported the idea, although they disliked what he had to add after that suggestions. No one knows if he was joking, as it is question whether or not he was taking a jab at the developer team, but he did state in an interview with Videogamer that he wanted to have the game feature nano machine zombies. Many boards quickly expressed their opinion, with positives being towards Gray Fox and the negatives being swung at the zombie portion of the idea.

Metal Gear Acid were also a series spin-off titles and were essentially RPG card games. So, in the history of Metal Gear, Konami has always had titles that betrayed the fundamentals of the originals. Even so, of all the settings and ideas that Konami could have gone with for a spin-off, they choose zombies. Exactly how many zombie games are coming out in just the next year? Well, a lot, actually.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare just recently announced that it’s getting a zombies mode. We have the Dead Rising Collection releasing next month with Dead Rising 5 coming out in December. Sony has their Zombie survival title, Days Gone, potentially releasing next year. There’s also State of Decay 2 and Resident Evil 7. I can keep going, but you get the point. The game looks so generic when compared to all those other ones, it’s the whole reason why many believe they are just using the Metal Gear title as a selling point.

As a fan of the entire series, this is just a sad day to see Metal Gear, a game known for its tactical stealth action, be turned into another generic zombie shooter. The series could have gone in so many different ways, but no one was expecting this.

And the funny thing is, like stated, it doesn’t look half bad. But, it’s such an insult to just slap the Metal Gear name on something to sell it. Heck, even having it as DLC for MGS V multiplayer would have been far more acceptable. As a standalone game, though, this is the first real title that Konami has come out with since MGS V released that’s related to Metal Gear. As a first, it just doesn’t spell anything good for the future of the franchise.

This isn’t the only thing that is disappointing. Last year, the Silent Hills Project was confirmed as cancelled. For those who don’t know what Silent Hill is, well, it’s a survival horror game, that also happens to feature zombies and other grotesque creatures.

Kojima was set to work with famed film director, Guillermo Del Toro and actor Norman Redus on a new Silent Hill title. Little was known about said project, though much hype was built around the title when a demo titled “P.T.” released. In this demo, Kojima and his team demonstrated a conceptual idea that they had planned for Silent Hills. For many, the demo represented a wonderful return of the former glory that Silent Hill once was. Obviously the project is no longer in production since the break-up, though Konami has said that they would continue the series.

It’s odd to see a franchise known for it’s horror and survival aspect, and have it poured into another that is known for an entirely different reason.

What we have here is essentially a massive middle finger to both Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill fans out there. Nobody asked for this game, yet everyone asked for a new Silent Hill.

Destiny – New Dev Diary Released, Confirms Private Matches

Well, the rumors have been true all along, Destiny is finally getting one of its most requested PVP features, Private matches.

[youtube id=”BS7ZUcfQJS4″]

Below is an image coming from PlanetDestiny Twitter. In it, you can see what kind of options players can use to customize their matches when the feature becomes available later next month.

There are nearly 30 maps to select from

Additionally, Bungie also confirmed that these private matches will be generally focused on clan battles. If you’re in a lobby, the clan name will display in the upper left hand-corner. The studio also mentioned in the stream that clan challenges would be an exciting thing to have now that we can create private matches.

If your like me and enjoy just wandering around maps without worrying about getting killed, you’ll also be able to boot up a map by yourself and explore it.

This certainly is a very exciting feature, one that we plan on using extensively.

Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Technical Test Dates Announced

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have announced the offcial dates for the Titanfall 2 Open Multiplayer Technical Test at Gamescom 2016.

The technical test will range across two weekends in August for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“During the open multiplayer technical test, fans will have access to two all-new Titans: Ion and Scorch, as well as a range of Pilot tactical abilities including Grapple, Holo Point, and Pulse Blade,” Respawn explained. “Fans will also have access to a variety of weapons including a deadly horizontal spread shotgun known as the Masttiff and the Alternator, a dual-barrel SMG.”

A trailer of the test was also released, which can be checked out above.

The first weekend will contain (weekend of August 19th, 2016):

MODES

  • Bounty Hunt (5v5): A brand new mode that pits Pilots and their teammates against an opposing team as well as the Remnant Fleet. Earn bonuses by killing grunts and enemies, but make sure and deposit all your points at the bank between waves without getting killed.
  • Pilots vs. Pilots (8v8): Players can be the best Pilot on the Frontier and put their combat and mobility skills to the ultimate test in this classic 8 vs 8 Pilots only mode.

MAPS

  • Boomtown: A secret underground IMC facility where the latest in R&D is put to the test. In this facility Pilots can use the many peaked roofs to use as cover against combatants below. With tight lanes through the middle, Titans can also be easily ambushed.
  • Homestead: The IMC have claimed Imminent Domain on a small commune’s plot of land. With a series of raised, rocky plateaus and a river running down the middle, Pilots are mostly safe from Titans among the rocks and trees but they also can duck into the caves and building when needed. However, the Titans control the large rolling fields.

The second and final weekend will contain:

MODE

  • Amped Hardpoint (6v6): A new twist on Hardpoint Domination from the original game; now defending a Hardpoint will let you amp it, giving your team double score. Team work is the key to securing victory.

MAP

  • Forward Base Kodai: Militia forces have taken over an IMC substation and set up a forward operating base. Pilots can find safety from Titans in the hallways and chambers of the main building, while Titans can walk over the roof to get a better view of the action.

Titanfall 2 will be available on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 28th, 2016.

PlayStation Update 4.00 To Include Offline Trophies, Folders, & More

Sony is gearing up to release a brand-new firmware update for the PlayStation 4 and, to many, it will perhaps be the console’s biggest yet.

Codenamed “Shingen,” The PlayStation 4.00 Firmware update is set to go into beta really soon, as posted on the PlayStation Blog. The update will include some rather major features that the community has long requested since the PS4’s release. These include support for being able to organize your titles into folders on the PS4 Dash, along with the ability to be able to view trophies while being offline. You can read the full details on the update below, though keep in mind that there will be other features not yet revealed when the Update is finally ready for release.

UI Refresh

We’ve made a lot of adjustments and improvements to PS4’s main user interface. That includes some changes you may notice right away, like new system backgrounds and a revised What’s New tab, to smaller changes like updated popup notifications and redesigned system icons. As a whole, it all adds up to a more refined and easy to use UI. The overall look and feel of the UI remains the same — it just has a fresh coat of paint.

4.00 beta Quick Menu

Quick Menu

As you know, pressing and holding the PS button on your DualShock 4 brings up the Quick Menu. We’ve overhauled this menu to make it faster and easier to use. One big change is that the menu now only covers a portion of the screen, meaning you don’t need to leave gameplay entirely.

We’ve added several new items to the Quick Menu, letting you quickly get info without having to back to the home screen. You can see the online status of your friends, and shortcuts to quickly access your Party, Favorite Groups, Communities, and more. You can also customize the Quick Menu, removing or adding items as you see fit.

4.00 beta SHARE menu

Share Menu

We’ve given a similar overhaul to the Share Menu, which appears once you press the Share button on your DualShock 4. Like the Quick Menu, it only covers a portion of the screen. It will save the last social network you shared video clips or screenshots to, making the process of sharing a screenshot or video a bit faster and more streamlined.

You can also upload longer video clips to Twitter (was 10 seconds, now up to 140 seconds).

4.00 beta Folders

Folders and Library Organization

One of the big requests we get is for more options to organize content on PS4. With this update, we’re adding functionality to create folders on PS4’s content launcher and Library. This will help collect your favorite games and select apps in one place for quick and easy access.

We’re also making some pretty big changes to the Library. We’ve added a new tab called Purchased, which will show all of the content you own — games, applications, demos, and betas you’ve participated in. As a result, the Games and Applications tabs focus on content currently installed on your system. This should help de-clutter your library, and make it faster to find the content you’re looking for.

There are some new sorting tools for your Library as well. You’ll be able to sort content by purchase date or install status, and search for specific games and apps via text input.

Trophy Improvements

This update brings the ability to view the Trophy offline. You’ll see a new “offline mode” option if your system is unable to connect to the network, letting you view your entire Trophy collection without an Internet connection.

We’ve also added a button that will let you view the content of a Hidden Trophy. The Trophy will still be hidden by default, but you can now choose to show the Trophy name and info.

Lastly, we’re changing the icons that show how rare a Trophy is. Instead of four boxes that fill, the icon looks like a pyramid with the ultra-rare Trophies at the top.

4.00 beta User Profile

User Profile

We’ve updated the look of the User Profile, making it easier to see relevant info for a player at-a-glance. For instance, you can now see your Trophy progress compared with another player right from their profile. You can also add a background image to your own profile — perhaps a screenshot you took in one of your favorite games.

I, for one, am very excited for this update as it’ll provide a lot of cleaning up to the system UI. No release date has been set, but we do know it is going into beta testing shortly. We’ll be sure to keep you updated.

What other features are you guys hoping this update may bring?
